Norway\'s HINSIDES Signs With Abyss Records

Abyss Records has announced signing Norwegian nihilists HINSIDES. The band's recently self released Universe Aspire In Mysticism (limited to 500 copies) is now available exclusively through Abyss Records.

Formed in North Wales in 2006 by Skaven, Nierty was conceived originally as a one man project with the intention of making a series of experimental EPs of the most furious and viciously distorted underground metal. Nierty went on to produce four releases over a two year period, including the two full length albums – Essence Of The Nightbringer in 2008 and Fed To Rats in 2009. It was the latter that signaled the end of Nierty as a one man project and the beginning of a fully fledged line up that today includes Skaven and Xaphanas (ART OF MUTILATION) on guitars, The Serpent (HECATE ENTHRONED, EWOC) on vocals, Archvile on operatic vocals, Mortbeast (ART OF MUTILATION, HECATE ENTHRONED) on bass and Skinblaster on drums.

Commenting on the decision to sign with Misantrof Skaven said: “Nierty’s music has always demonstrated a contempt of humanity that would be undermined by the superfluous presence of big business and its implied greed. Misantrof, with its commitment to provide music for free and leave the artists in charge of their own destiny, shows an integrity that is lacking in this business much of the time, and we felt that this was the right place for us.”

MURDER THERAPY Reveal New Album Details; Video Preview Available

Italian extreme death metallers MURDER THERAPY have posted a sneak preview of the songs 'Anoptikon' and 'Drawn Back', both of which are to be featured on their forthcoming new album.

The video, below, represents the band's actual musical direction, mixing elements of extreme metal with postcore and ambient atmospheres. It was recorded during the band's October 2010 rehearsal sessions.

The new, as of yet untitled, record and follow-up to Symmetry Of Delirium will be recorded during the first months of 2011.

Currently the band is available for negotiations with record companies.

DEVON GRAVES, DAN SWANÖ To Guest On New APPEARANCE OF NOTHING Album

Swiss progressive metallers APPEARANCE OF NOTHING will release their second full-length album, "All Gods Are Gone", on January 21, 2011 via Escape Music. The CD features guest appearances by Devon Graves (a.k.a. Buddy Lackey; PSYCHOTIC WALTZ) and Dan Swanö (EDGE OF SANITY, NIGHTINGALE) and is said to be "considerably more aggressive" than 2008's "Wasted Time".

APPEARANCE OF NOTHING was formed in 2004 by Pat Gerber (vocals/guitar), Yves Lüthi (drums), Omar Cuna (bass) and Marc Petralito (keyboards). Guitarist Peter Berger joined the band prior to the recording of the group's first full-length CD.

"Wasted Time" was produced by Markus Teske, who has previously worked with VANDEN PLAS and SYMPHONY X, among others.

RAVAGE: \'Grapes Of Wrath\' Video Released

"Grapes Of Wrath", the new video from Boston, Massachusetts metallers RAVAGE, can be viewed below. The clip was filmed back in the summer of 2009 but had to be sent back for a number of re-edits due to some controversial parodic subject matter, violent content and special-effects issues. The video was directed by John Koziol who last worked on the feature-length action comedy film "Lawson: White Heat" and has previously worked on video projects for such diverse artists as AGNOSTIC FRONT and the WU-TANG CLAN.

YNGWIE MALMSTEEN: Audio Samples Of Entire New Album Available

Audio samples of all the tracks that will appear on "Relentless", the new album from the legendary Swedish guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen, are available for streaming on Amazon.com. HEXEN Signs With PULVERISED RECORDS

Los Angeles thrashers HEXEN have inked a deal with Singapore's Pulverised Records. The band is preparing to enter the studio to begin recording its second full-length album for a 2011 release.

NIGHTWISH Singer On Upcoming Album: \'I Think It\'s A Great And Varied CD\'

Finnish/Swedish symphonic metallers NIGHTWISH entered the studio late last month to begin recording the follow-up to 2007's "Dark Passion Play".

Writing on her official blog, NIGHTWISH singer Anette Olzon states about the upcoming album, "I think it's a great and varied CD. The feeling in it are great and there are a lot of elements in it, so I am sure it will have many different favorite songs for the listeners since the songs are so different in styles and sound. 'Dark Passion Play' is a great album and this one, too, so I don't know yet which one I like more, but, of course, for me personally, this one feels better to do since the songs are more adjusted to my voice and my style."

NIGHTWISH guitarist Emppu Vuorinen, who just started laying down his tracks on the band's new CD, writes on the band's official web site, "Last time [when we recorded 'Dark Passion Play'] it was more like working nine to five, busting my ass in the studio, but this time I took the recording equipment home and will try to maintain that laid-back, jamming feeling I had during the whole summer, when we were rehearsing and demoing the [new] songs with the guys. In a way, I guess I have succeeded — I have now been laying down rhythm tracks for a week . . . and I've now completed about half of the rhythm tracks. It's hard to say whether my job is 30% or 5% done, because if old signs hold true, the guitar parts just keep on increasing. Meaning that just when you're about to pop open that bottle of champagne, you realize that, damn, this and that part still need something. In other words, having learnt something from previous sessions, I'll keep the champagne on ice at least for another six months."

The pre-production sessions for the new NIGHTWISH CD took place in "the deepest countryside of Finland," where most of the band spent several weeks finalizing the song arrangements and recording their instrumental parts.

Theft From SLIPKNOT Bassist\'s Grave

The surviving members of SLIPKNOT — whose bassist, Paul Gray, passed away in May — have posted the following message on their MySpace page:

"In a very upsetting turn of events we have learned that some gifts left for Paul at his gravesite have been stolen. There were statues of a gargoyle as well as a Buddah that were placed at Paul's grave by his friends and family that were taken. We ask that whoever did this please return the items no questions asked. If anyone has any information about the stolen items please let us know by posting in the comments. Portuguese metallers MOONSPELL performed an acoustic set on the "Tapete" program on Portugal's MTV this past Halloween. You can now watch video footage of their appearance below.

MOONSPELL will embark on the "Sombra" (English translation: Shadow) tour of Portugal in November-December. SATYRICON Frontman Launches His Own Wine

Sigurd "Satyr" Wongraven, renowned vocalist/guitarist of the Norwegian black metal band SATYRICON, has partnered with Luca Roagna, a fifth-generation winemaker from Piedmont, Italy, to launch Satyr's own brand of wine. Wongraven has apparently chosen the best wines from the Roagna winery and is making them available with his name on each bottle in gothic letters and black background with an outline illustration of the devil on the label.

Two wines are currently available from the Wongraven brand:

* Langhe Rosso Alleanza Nero di Wongraven 2009

* Barolo Unione Nero di Wongraven 2006

Wongraven and Roagna first met in the spring of 2003 while SATYRICON was on tour in Italy and spent several months earlier this year creating two classic wines that represent a combination of Roagna's skilled vineyard work and Satyr's vision of traditional Piedmontese wines.

"When I explain my role in the process to musician friends who have no knowledge of wine, I tell them that Luca created the songs and recorded the album, while I mixed it," Wongraven told Adressa.no in a recent interview.

Authenticity is the common denominator in Satyr's music and wine.

Wongraven admits that he himself is skeptical when he sees other people lending their names to wine brands.

"I think that people who known me understand why I have chosen to lend my name name to these wines," he explained. "I have made wines that I am proud of."

Activision released "Guitar Hero: Metallica" in March 2009. The band played a special release party for that game at the South By Southwest festival in Austin, Texas that month.

BEHEMOTH\'s Leukemia-Stricken Frontman Checks In From The Hospital

Adam "Nergal" Darski, the 33-year-old leukemia-stricken guitarist/vocalist of the Polish extreme metal act BEHEMOTH, has released the following statement regarding his treatment:

"I'm still in the hospital, but in quite a good shape so I write to let you know about my health and the further stages of treatment.

"I've been through four planned chemotherapies and have stayed in hospital for over three months now. I've gone through the whole therapy smoothly, though I also had a couple of difficult moments. All this means I have finished the stage of pharmacological treatment and I am about to start the irradiation and then the marrow transplant.

"Yes, we've found a donor! Having searched for months, the foundation has found a person whose genotype is identical to mine. It would have been difficult to achieve if it wasn't for the support of so many people. Most of all, I want to express my admiration for [26-year-old Polish pop singer] Dorota [Rabczewska; a.k.a. Doda] — my wonderful and devoted fiancée. She did everything she could to help me and many other people, regardless of adversities and comments which were often unfair. Your help is invaluable! Thank you! I love you.

"On behalf of me and all other ill people, I thank everyone who registered in the bone marrow bank regardless of origin, skin colour or religion. The concerts for charity have been organized all over the world and people of show business, bands and, most of all, the fans got deeply involved. You are beyond great! One of you made my transplant possible, but remember, your attitude may save many others in need. So I appeal to everyone: don't stop the madness! The march for victory continues! Horns up!"

DIMMU BORGIR Guitarist Says \'Abrahadabra\' Cover Artwork Was Changed Due To Copyright Problems

This past weekend, TheGrimoire.com conducted an interview with guitarist Galder (real name: Tom Rune Andersen) of Norwegian symphonic black metallers DIMMU BORGIR. You can now watch the chat in two parts below.

When asked about DIMMU BORGIR's recent announcement that future pressings of its latest album, "Abrahadabra", would contain brand new artwork, Galder said, "We had some problems with the guy making the skull — we had some copyright stuff — so we had to change it. . . There wasn't really that big of a difference; I mean, the version is a bit more brutal than the earlier version."

DIMMU BORGIR's record label, Nuclear Blast, stated in a press release, "Art-wise, it's a subtle change and will IN NO WAY alter the musical content of this album. Moving forward, this new cover will grace all the different versions once the album is re-pressed, so the original pressing is now — you've got it — a collector's item! Again, it is ABSOLUTELY the same album musically with the same content. ONLY the artwork has changed."

"Abrahadabra" sold 9,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 42 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band's previous CD, "In Sorte Diaboli", opened with 14,000 units back in May 2007 to debut at No. 43. This was more than double the 6,400 first-week tally achieved by its predecessor, "Death Cult Armageddon", which came out in September 2003 and landed at position No. 169 on The Billboard 200 chart.

MANOWAR Bassist: New Album Will Sound Like Somebody Put Gasoline On Your Balls And Lit It

MANOWAR bassist and producer Joey DeMaio has released a new video message in which he offers an update on the status of the songwriting and recording sessions for the band's next album, "Hammer Of The Gods". You can watch it below.

Stated DeMaio: "A couple of people were wanting to know what's going on with the new album, 'Hammer Of The Gods'. Well, the truth is this: [original MANOWAR drummer] Donnie Hamzik is officially back in the band, and that changed everything for us. So all the songs that were written have been completely fucking thrown out, completely ditched — gone, never to be heard from again. The writing has changed because Donnie's back in the band and he's burning like a mad motherfucking demon on drums. So this album is gonna basically sound like I told you before — like somebody put gasoline on your fucking balls and lit it. So it'll be worth the fucking wait, 'cause when it comes, it's coming back."

"Hammer Of The Gods" was previously described as the first installment of "The Asgard Saga", the band's unique multimedia fantasy adventure with best-selling author Wolfgang Hohlbein.

TRAIL OF TEARS: In Songwriting Mode

Norway's TRAIL OF TEARS has commenced the songwriting process for its new album, tentatively due next year. The band states, "We have to say that it has been a good experience and some of the ideas which have surfaced so far sound pretty damn exciting to our ears!

"We are continuing to write material for the next album and will spend a few more months creating something that will live up to our own expectations and goals and hopefully raise a few eyebrows as well!"
