 Dutch death merchants THE MONOLITH DEATHCULT have issued the following update from guitarist/vocalist Michiel Dekker:
"At the moment we are working on new tracks for the upcoming album. The new stuff sounds very good (I can say that because I wrote it). It will be in the vein of Trivmvirate. That is not a surprise because that album hasn't an overall sound.
We (I) wrote a track about the writings of Sayid Qubt and I am still doubting between 2 possible songtitles - 'Aslimu!', 'Those Who Have Brought Down Our Highly Respected Symbols To The Lower Status Of The Barren Earth'.
Between the songwriting we do some shows."

Y&T Chocolate Bars Now Available Online
 Classic California rockers Y&T have issued the following update:

Y&T has set up a fund to help offset the substantial medical expenses incurred by the band's original bassist, Phil Kennemore, is his fight with metastatic cancer.
Commented the group: "Any amount you wish to give, no matter how small or large, will be very greatly appreciated to help Phil and his family with his extensive medical expenses. 100 percent of all donations will be distributed directly to Phil."

Kennemore recently said about his cancer diagnosis, "With the bad news I also got the good news that along with surgery and treatments, I will be back rockin' and rollin'. I'll be getting a hip replacement as well as back surgery, which means I'll also be more agile. The doctor said that this is treatable and I'll be walking out of this place and I'll be able to go on the road and do everything I need to do to continue my rock 'n' roll life, in due time."
Y&T's current lineup is rounded out by original guitarist/vocalist Dave Meniketti, along with longtime members John Nymann (guitar) and Mike Vanderhule (drums).
Y&T's first studio album in 13 years, "Facemelter", was released in Europe on May 21 via Frontiers Records.

ANTHRAX Bassist: \'This Is A Unified Band And We\'re Ready To Go\'
 Wondering when you'll get a new ANTHRAX record? Fresh off their stint on the Jägermeister Music Tour with SLAYER and MEGADETH, ANTHRAX members Scott Ian, Joey Belladona and Frank Bello discuss what you can expect on their new record , due out in 2011. Watch the clip below.
Scott Ian: "We've been doing our best to try and move forward every day and we've been actually working on new material. We've got a song called 'Fight 'Em 'Til You Can't' that's pretty much ready to go; we've been doing it at soundcheck. Second song, which is called 'I'm Alive', and a song called 'Earth On Hell', which we're gonna be moving forward into this week. By the end of this tour, I don't think we'll be ready to record the record yet, but we'll be pretty far along, which gives us a good feeling that this record will actually come out next year, in 2011. . . We're not taking any crazy left turns or anything like that; it's metal. There's definitely elements of thrash. It's overall a metal record. It moves us forward creatively as a band, for sure. I mean, the best thing I can say about it is it certainly sounds like ANTHRAX."
Frank Bello: "We're all really bonded right now, which is a really good thing for us going forward. I can't wait to do this stuff. Joey's voice on our new music... there's a nice blend going on. We're all bonding really well on stage, off stage... People that wanna talk negative, it's just hilarious at this point 'cause this is a unified band and we're ready to go. I can't wait."

BUDGIE\'s BURKE SHELLEY Undergoes Emergency Surgery; European Tour Canceled
 Vocalist/bassist Burke Shelley of legendary Welsh rockers BUDGIE has undergone emergency surgery, forcing the band to cancel its previously announced European tour.
The band's management has released the following statement on the matter:
"Burke Shelley was admitted to hospital after complaining of pains in his abdomen on Tuesday, November 9 in Wejherowo. A team of surgeons was quickly assembled to operate on the singer and bassist who was diagnosed as having a 6cm aneurism of the aorta. Tests revealed that Burke's aorta was leaking blood into the outer wall of the aneurism which could have burst at any time. He underwent a two-hour, 40-minute operation in the evening and he is being kept in the intensive care ward."
BUDGIE was widely considered as one of the first heavy metal bands and a seminal influence on the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM). Although BUDGIE was never more than a cult band in the United States, their influence was felt by many notable American bands. They are highly respected by METALLICA, who went on record as having credited BUDGIE as a major influence, while SOUNDGARDEN — who emerged from the Seattle grunge scene — covered "Homicidal Suicidal".

DARKEST ERA Complete New Album; Title Announced
 Irish folk metallers DARKEST ERA have recently completed work on their forthcoming album and have announced that the title of the album is The Last Caress Of Light. The band has also issued the following comments on the album:
Vocalist Krum comments: "It is with great pleasure that we announce we have finished work on our debut album; to be titled The Last Caress Of Light. The album is a work of dark, stormy, epic heavy metal that we are proud to release upon the world. Chris Fielding did a fantastic job in capturing the Celtic atmosphere of our songs while bringing out our heavy metal influences from bands like WARLORD. We are very excited about it"
Guitarist Sarah Wieghell adds: "It has been an incredible experience recording our debut album for Metal Blade, the songs came out better than even we were expecting. I think we've made a really strong record to be proud of, I can't wait for people to hear it!"

KORPIKLAANI Putting Finishing Touches On New Album
 Finnish folk metallers KORPIKLAANI are putting the finishing touches on their new album, "Ukon Wacka", for an early 2011 release. According to the band, "Ukon Wacka, or Ukon Vakat, is a pagan sacrificial feast from ancient times, on which a special made beer richly flowed. As can be expected from the title, this album has an ancient and very folky feel and is totally in Finnish. To make the lyrics understandable for non-Finnish people, we will add an English description/translation in the booklet as usual. The album consists of 10 songs, among which you will find a song name 'Tequila', which is especially written for (and inspired by) our South American fans, with whom we celebrated such hard times, and who welcomed us so warmly, when we were touring in South America. Another surprise is the title song, 'Ukon Wacka', in which a special guest features: the famous Finnish singer Tuomari Nurmio! Last but not least features a tribute song ('Päät Pois Tai Hirteen') to the Finnish rock band PEER GÜNT, a great and underestimated band. We hope and expect that this album will give you as much joy as we had making it; a big folky feast for all!"
"Karkelo" (English translation: "Pleasure" or "Party"), the sixth album from KORPIKLAANI, was released on June 26, 2009 via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD was recorded at Petrax studio in Hollola, Finland.

MEGADETH\'s DAVE MUSTAINE: \'We Want To Continue To Put Out Quality Stuff\'
 Anthony Sulla-Heffinger of the New York Post recently conducted an interview with MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.
On composing an original exclusive track for the latest title in the "Guitar Hero" franchise, "Guitar Hero: Warriors Of Rock":
"The goal when we went to the studio was to bring something to the game and we also wound up getting something out of the game while supporting the hugely-popular franchise."
"I definitely think 'Guitar Hero' has opened the music world to a new group of people, musicians and non-musicians alike. No matter what your experience is, it's not that difficult to just pick up and play."
"The truth is, if you're a music fan and you don't like MEGADETH, which I find hard to imagine, 'Sudden Death' can take things to a higher level for you."
On his past substance-abuse issues:
"I don't know if we ever get over it (substance abuse problems), for someone who has flirted with life and death and flirted with drug abuse and alcoholism, something gets broken and you never really recover from that. I was in Texas when I looked up and saw a cross and said to myself, 'What have I got to lose,' those six little words were magic and they changed me."
On MEGADETH's future plans:
"We want to continue to put out quality stuff. Think of MEGADETH as the Ferrari franchise, each year they put out the same car, but you never know what it's going to look like and you're just along for the ride."

ENFORCER Involved In \'Serious\' Bus Crash
 Swedish heavy metallers ENFORCER were involved in a serious bus crash while on tour in their homeland. The band, which is on the road in Europe as the support act for Australian hard rockers AIRBOURNE, was travelling from Oslo to Stockholm in a snowstorm at around 3:00 a.m. this morning (Wednesday, November 10) and was near its hometown of Arvika when the group's vehicle skidded on ice, crossed over to the other side of the road and experienced a head-on collision with a snow-plough.
ENFORCER guitarists Adam Zaars and Joseph Tholl, bassist Tobias Lindqvist and the band's driver were battered and bruised, but miraculously all survived the crash with only minor injuries. A county police officer at the scene said, "They had a guardian angel." The band's vehicle was destroyed in the accident, but their equipment, which was in a trailer attached to the vehicle, was luckily unscathed. ENFORCER frontman Olof Wikstrand and drummer Jonas Wikstrand were travelling in a separate car at the time and were not involved in the crash.
ENFORCER has regretfully been forced to cancel its appearances tonight in Sweden and on November 12 and November 13 in Finland and will be using the time to recuperate and recover from the nerve-wracking incident. They will resume the tour on November 16 in Berlin, Germany.
ENFORCER has issued the following statement regarding the accident: "We're all alive and well but we're really sorry to cancel the gigs in Stockholm, Tampere and Helsinki. We're working really hard to get back on the road again soon!"

SLEEPING SIN - Debut Album \'Engel\' im Handel & neues Video online!
 Die Hamburger Gothic / Melodic Metal Band SLEEPING SIN wurde im Frühjahr 2006 gegründet. Seit 2007 rocken sie für das Publikum auf den Open-Air- und Clubbühnen in der Region in und um Hamburg. Ihren Erfolg erkennt man an der stetig wachsenden Fangemeinde, den größer werdenden Locations und der positiven Resonanz von Presse und Öffentlichkeit.
Die erste Jahreshälfte 2010 nutzte die Band, um ihr Debütalbum "Engel" aufzunehmen. Außerdem kam es zu Veränderungen im Line Up, so dass die Band in dieser Phase nur wenige Konzerte spielte. Seit August 2010 ist SLEEPING SIN nun wieder vollständig, "Engel" ist veröffentlicht und die Band wird wieder Live zu sehen und zu hören sein! DARK TRANQUILLITY Issues Post-Tour Update
 Swedish melodic death metallers DARK TRANQUILLITY have issued the following update:
"What a ride! After having spent most of the year touring other continents and laying to waste innumerable summer festivals, we finally brought the 'We Are The Void' experience to the European club circuit.
"The whole 'Where Death Is Most Alive Part II' experience was amazing, and the seven weeks were filled with great shows and unforgettable moments. The idea of having a different local support band — determined by public vote — every night in mainland Europe turned out to be successful as well; we got to hear a lot of great acts and even got some tattoos courtesy of JP Mottin of El Comer Ocho.
"So we'd like to extend our most sincere thanks to everyone that took part in the shows — the awesome support acts of INSOMNIUM, AVATAR, MARIONETTE and OMNIUM GATHERUM, the beloved crew of Basti, Jorge, Jukka, Anders, Matti, Mikko and Jörg, all local support bands, and, of course, all the fans that came out to the shows to give us the time of our lives.

SLASH, AC/DC, RUSH, RONNIE JAMES DIO Honored At MARSHALL CLASSIC ROCK ROLL OF HONOUR AWARDS
 Slash, AC/DC, RUSH and Ronnie James Dio are among the musicians who were honored at at this year's Marshall Classic Rock Roll Of Honour Awards, which was held earlier tonight (Wednesday, November 10) at London, England's Roundhouse venue. Alice Cooper hosted the event, which featured live performances for the first time in its six-year history, from ALTER BRIDGE, CHEAP TRICK and THE UNION.

MERCENARY Signs With NOISEART RECORDS And ROCK THE NATION Booking
 Danish melodic death metallers MERCENARY have inked a deal with NoiseArt Records and Rock The Nation booking. The band's sixth album, "Metamorphosis", was produced by Jacob Hansen (RAUNCHY, VOLBEAT, NIGHTRAGE, HATESPHERE, PYRAMAZE) and will be released on February 25, 2011. In addition, the group has been confirmed for the "Power Of Metal Tour 2011" alongside SYMPHONY X, NEVERMORE, PSYCHOTIC WALTZ and THAUROROD.
Commented MERCENARY: "After a long period of significant transformations and hard work, we're finally able to shed some light on circumstances regarding the release of our upcoming, sixth album. The album will be entitled 'Metamorphosis', and it will be released on the 25th of February through NoiseArt Records. They are part of our new family which also includes our future booking company Rock The Nation.
"We are very excited about this future cooperation, as we believe that working closely together with a company that integrates both label and booking is a great way to confront the challenges of the modern music business. To prove this very point, the cooperation is off to flying start as we will join the 'Power Of Metal Tour' with metal legends SYMPHONY X, NEVERMORE and PSYCHOTIC WALTZ in Europe in February/March.
