Report: STEVE PERRY Wants To Rejoin JOURNEY
 Classic Rock has issued the following report:
Ex-JOURNEY frontman Steve Perry has amazed his former bandmates by asking to rejoin the group.
Perry left the Bay Area AOR legends for good in 1998 to embark on a solo career. He was replaced by Steve Augeri and then Jeff Scott Soto. Filipino YouTube discovery Arnel Pineda took over vocal duties in 2007.
Journey have since enjoyed renewed success after their classic track 'Don’t Stop Believin’' – with Perry on vocals – was featured in The Sopranos and covered by the cast of hit TV musical Glee.

"Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa" was released on November 1 through Peaceville Records on the band's own AbraCadaver imprint (November 9 in North America via Nuclear Blast Records).
"Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa" is, in the words of CRADLE's infamous frontman Dani Filth, "without doubt the fastest and most brutal album we've created to date. As an acquaintance of the band so aptly noted, this is like 'IRON MAIDEN on crack in a graveyard of angels!' This album is CRADLE at our most sinister and darkened fairytale," continues Dani. "A gothic horror themed slay-ride of fervour and perversion; yet amidst the orchestral melodrama and lush, cinematic production, there sits stalwart a ravening beast of furious riffing, flesh ripping vocals and monstrous, unstoppable percussion."
CRADLE OF FILTH — consisting of Dani Filth on vocals, Paul Allender and James McIlroy on guitar, David Pybus on bass, Martin Skaroupka on drums and Ashley Ellyllon on keyboards — recorded the follow-up to 2008's "Godspeed On The Devil's Thunder" at Monkey Puzzle studios near Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk. The bandmembers remain stalwarts to the satanic horror ethos by again composing a fully blown concept album, this time based on Adam's first wife, the lascivious Demoness Lilith; throwing Medieval nuns, Knights Templars, Greek mythology and lashings of sex, occult lore and violent bloodshed into the smelting pot, to create a darkly erotic nightmare set to their unique scope of supreme vampyric metal. And with an as-near-as-dammit release date of All Hallow's Eve 2010, CRADLE OF FILTH are snarling at the leash to get out to all of their fans across the world. "We can't wait to play this shit live," admits Dani.
For this release, the band wanted mastery of their own destiny, choosing to release the album on their very own AbraCadaver label in conjunction with Peaceville Records, home to such illicit luminaries as DARKTHRONE, KATATONIA, MY DYING BRIDE, BLOODBATH and GALLHAMMER, among many others. Vocalist Dani Filth has described the move as being "a choice to move away from the artistic restrictions/mindless inhibitions imposed by dwelling on a major label" and cites the current financial clime as "the perfect opportunity to start doing things our own way again, with the added benefit of being a far bigger fish in a proverbial pool, surrounded by people who have been handpicked to get the job best done. BUMBLEFOOT: Don\'t Hold Your Breath For New GUNS N\' ROSES Album
 GUNS N' ROSES fans shouldn't expect a new studio album from the band anytime soon, according to the band's guitarist, Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal. Even though GUNS N' ROSES axeman D.J. Ashba said in an interview at last week's launch party for the "Call Of Duty: Black Ops" video game that the band is "throwing around a bunch of ideas" for its next CD, Bumblefoot doesn't believe that a new GN'R album will surface in the foreseeable future. He writes on his Facebook page, "We've yet to get in a room and write as a band." He adds, "[I] know D.J. mentioned something about a new album, but don't want y'all expecting anything soon. Other than old unreleased ['Chinese Democracy'] songs, songs need to be written, jammed, recorded, tweaked, re-worked, re-recorded, mixed, re-mixed, mastered, re-mastered, art, new art, label approval, a game plan from the label that Axl [Rose, lead singer] approves.... not as simple when it's on such a big scale... Just don't want ya getting frustrated if a GN'R album doesn't happen quick..."

TNT: New Album Samples Available
 Norwegian/British hard rockers TNT will release their new album, "A Farewell To Arms", in Japan on December 15 via Avalon/Marquee. The CD will be issued in Europe (excluding Norway) on January 21, 2011 via Metal Heaven.
With the release of "A Farewell To Arms", the group's third album with the current lineup, TNT returns to its roots. The music is more hard-edged than on the last few efforts, and the truth is you'll have to go all the way back to 1984's "Knights Of The New Thunder" to find the band so heavy.
"A Farewell To Arms" was produced by TNT guitar player Ronni Le Tekrö at his Studio Studio, and the songs were mainly written by Tekrö and British vocalist Tony Mills (ex-SHY).
With the combination of Ronni's powerful riffs and great melodies TNT will once again please their fans with a catchy piece like "Don't Misunderstand Me", the groovy "Engine", more heavy stuff like "A Farewell To Arms" and "Take It Like A Man - Woman!", or a ballad like "God Natt, Marie".

HAMMERFALL Taps Producer JAMES MICHAEL For New Album
 In just two weeks, Swedish melodic metallers HAMMERFALL will enter the studio to record the follow-up to 2009's "No Sacrifice, No Victory". The songwriting is almost finished, and guitarist Oscar Dronjak reveals: "The new material contains a lot of fresh ways to look at the musical ideas, we're trying to preserve the essence of what HAMMERFALL is while at the same time updating the execution and approach. Definitely heavier and less straight forward than the previous albums, yet remaining true to what we believe heavy metal is all about."
HAMMERFALL decided to work with a new producer on the new CD, which is significant since the last four albums have been produced by Charlie Bauerfeind. The choice fell on James Michael, who recently worked with MÖTLEY CRÜE, SCORPIONS, MEAT LOAF and others. James Michael comments: “We are about to make a fantastic album. The band is firing on all cylinders and I am excited to be part of this project."
Oscar Dronjak explains: "Working with James Michael is going to be very, very exciting. The two MÖTLEY CRÜE albums James has been involved in (songwriter on "New Tattoo" and songwriter/producer on "Saints Of Los Angeles") are great, and easily stack up against the classic albums of the '80s. That, and the fact that HAMMERFALL have used the same producer (Charlie Bauerfeind) since 2002 has me very psyched about this collaboration, it will automatically bring a freshness to the proceedings! A lot of what HAMMERFALL was got refined when we started working with Charlie, and I'm sure we'll get a similar kind of reaction here. Sort of like a kick in the ass, to get going in the right direction.”
Vocalist Joacim Cans adds another important aspect: "I see James Michael as one of my favorite singers of today and his work with SIXX: A.M. is simply fantastic. Not only is the album one of the best ever made production-wise, but James also delivers a vocal performance that most singers today are not capable of. James will be the perfect co-producer for us and I really think he will be able to get me up a notch in the vocal department."
The as-yet-untitled new HAMMERFALL record will be released in Europe on May 20, 2011.

KISS\' Gene Simmons Says AEROSMITH\'s Steven Tyler \"Did The Right Thing\" Joining American Idol
 According to Antimusic.com, the recent war of words that kicked off with KID ROCK's stance against Steven Tyler's decision to join American Idol, has started to bring out support in favor of the AEROSMITH frontman's move to try and bring rock back into mainstream America.
Gene Simmons of KISS recently tweeted about his thoughts on the Tyler deal and the fuss caused by Kid Rock.
"Kid Rock's wrong," wrote Simmons. "Kid's a good guy. Though he's got the goods. But he's wrong about Tyler and Amer Idol. Kid said Tyler did the 'stupidest thing' re: Amer Idol. He's wrong. Steven did the right thing. He's going to rock the place, and it's the best thing for him right now."

PATHOLOGY Involved In Serious Van Accident
 San Diego-based death metallers PATHOLOGY were involved in a serious road accident Wednesday night, November 10. The group, which was in the middle of a North American tour as the support act for NILE, was driving between dates in St. Paul, Minnesota and Seattle, Washington when its van hit black ice outside Bismarck, North Dakota, causing the vehicle to roll a couple times before sliding a few hundred feet. Three members of PATHOLOGY were taken to the hospital but suffered no serious injuries aside from some bumps and bruises and the overall mental stress of the experience. Unfortunately, with no van, trailer and most of the gear damaged, PATHOLOGY has been forced to pull out of the remainder of the NILE tour.
Commented drummer Dave Astor: '[This was the] worst car wreck in my life! [I feel] lucky to be alive. Everything is destroyed! Extremely traumatized. This tour is absolutely over for us. Infuckingsane!"

THEM CROOKED VULTURES: Second Album In The Works
 THEM CROOKED VULTURES, the band consisting of John Paul Jones (LED ZEPPELIN), Dave Grohl (FOO FIGHTERS) and Josh Homme (QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE), is planning to regroup in the near future to resume work on material for its second album.
Jones told the BBC 6 Music: "Some stuff we've worked on, but we're gonna write pretty quickly and just put it down... we may be a year or so [away from completing the CD]."
He added: "It will mainly be excess material from the first album, material we started and never finished because we had to go and play the stuff we already recorded!"

METALLICA Confirmed For Brazil\'s ROCK IN RIO Festival
 METALLICA has issued the following update:
"We know it's pretty nutty to announce a show almost a year in advance . . . certainly not something we've ever done before! However, when we were asked to headline the original Rock in Rio, the one actually in Rio de Janeiro (!!), we just couldn't say 'no.' After playing at other Rock in Rio festivals in Lisbon and Madrid years past, it seemed like it would make for a fun break from whatever (??!!) we might be doing a year from now. Tickets go on sale on November 19, 2010 only at the Rock in Rio official web site, www.rockinrio.com.br. Other points of sale will be available only after July, 1, 2011.
As previously reported, Brazilian metal acts SEPULTURA and ANGRA have also been confirmed for next year's edition of the Rock In Rio festival, set to take place at the end of September – beginning of October 2011 in "The City Of Rock" in the Olympic Park, in Barra da Tijuca/Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Both bands will perform on the "heavy metal night" of the event, which debuted in 1985 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and had subsequent editions in 1991 and 2001. The first version of the fest featured performances by OZZY OSBOURNE, QUEEN, AC/DC and others. The 2001 edition featured BRITNEY SPEARS, BECK, DAVE MATTHEWS BAND, R.E.M., STING, JAMES TAYLOR and SHERYL CROW.
The Rock In Rio festivals are massive events, drawing millions of people and a diverse roster of local and international artists.

GUNS N\' ROSES Guitarist D.J. ASHBA On \'Farley Bros. Radio\'
 GUNS N' ROSES guitarist D.J. Ashba was interviewed earlier this week on Farley Bros. Radio. You can now stream and/or download the podcast at this location.
Although it took more than a decade — 13 years, to be exact — for GUNS N' ROSES to release its "Chinese Democracy" album in 2008, the follow-up to that effort may come sooner than anyone thinks. Ashba said in an interview at last week's launch party for the "Call Of Duty: Black Ops" video game that the band is "talking about that right now. We've been throwing around a bunch of ideas and it should be good, man. We've got a lot of good stuff on the plate coming out. It won't take as long, I promise." Ashba added, "I'm excited to get this next one rolling . . . Axl [Rose, lead singer] has a lot of good shit up his sleeve, so I'm really excited about it."
Rose himself hinted in an interview back in 2002 that he had compiled enough songs to release follow-ups to "Chinese Democracy" in rapid succession, saying, "The plan is to drop the record. Have a bunch of extra tracks . . . about a year or so down the road, drop another record, and drop a third record. This is a three stage thing; we'll be touring for a real long time."
In addition to Ashba and sole original member Rose, the current lineup of GUNS N' ROSES includes guitarists Ron Thal and Richard Fortus, bassist Tommy Stinson, keyboardists Dizzy Reed and Chris Pitman and drummer Frank Ferrer.
GUNS N' ROSES' latest album, "Chinese Democracy", was released in November 2008 as a Best Buy exclusive, 17 years after the last all-original GUNS sets, "Use Your Illusion I" and "II". The album was a commercial disappointment, selling less than one million copies in the U.S. (according to Nielsen SoundScan) despite the long wait.
Ashba joined GUNS N' ROSES in March 2009 following the departure of Robin Finck. Rose stated about D.J.'s addition to the group at the time, "D.J.'s a gifted, energetic guitarist that GUNS N' ROSES is proud to have on board!! We're very excited to have the opportunity to work together. GUNS' radar has silently been aware of D.J.'s presence for quite some time. He brings a fresh approach to our particular brand of mayhem expanding the tapestry of GUNS N' ROSES live. Once D.J.'s name was in the hat, the hat disappeared!!"

 Italian progressive death metallers SADIST have issued the following update:
"After the first incredible run of "killer gigs" throughout Eastern Europe, the band came back home after the conquest of the lands of Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Russia, Czech Republic, Moldova and Ukraine, with more than thirty shows, cheered by hundreds of metal kids.

Singer Anette Olzon To Release Solo Album Before NIGHTWISH Album?
 NIGHTWISH singer Anette Olzon has revealed in her latest blog that she still plans to release her solo album next year.
"I want to do that but I am still in the process of signing with a record label so before I know exactly what the plan is," she says. "I can't say any exact release date, but I would love to release it in May and that is what I aim for, but it might be later too."
In 2009, Olzon had been working on solo material with co-writers Johan Glössner and Stefan Örn. Olzon says she wants "10 or 11 songs" for the album.
