THE OCEAN: \'Anthropocentric\' Delayed
 Due to "technical problems during the manufacturing process," the release date of "Anthropocentric", the new album from THE OCEAN has been pushed back to November 19 in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy; and November 22 in the rest of Europe. The CD will be released as a limited digipak containing special packaging with two dials on top of the digipak visualizing the concept of the two CDs.

 LED ZEPPELIN frontman Robert Plant headlined London, England's Roundhouse on October 29 as part of BBC Radio 2's Electric Proms festival.  According to Focus On Travel News, IRON MAIDEN singer Bruce Dickinson is among the favorites to win the World Travel Awards "Face of Travel 2010". BY NIGHT Completes Work On New Album
 Falkenberg, Sweden-based metallers BY NIGHT have completed work on their third album for a tentative early 2011 release. The band states, '[The new CD is] so heavy [we] can't believe it."

MANOWAR: More \'Battle Hymns 2011\' Details Revealed
 Finally, technology has caught up with MANOWAR's custom-built touring and recording equipment. The band decided that its fans deserved to hear the songs from its debut album, 1982's "Battle Hymns", with the massive sound and production that has become the group's signature over recent years and records.
Due for release at the end of November 2010, "Battle Hymns" will soon be available with the unbridled power of today's technology: "Battle Hymns 2011".
With the decision to reinterpret the music came the need to revisit the famed narration of the legendary Orson Welles. There was only one obvious choice and that was Sir Christopher Lee. Recorded at the famed Abbey Road Studios in London, his own inspired interpretation of the late, great Orson Welles on "Dark Avenger" will be another jewel in the crown of the Kings Of Metal.
MANOWAR bassist and producer Joey DeMaio stated: "My personal admiration for Sir Christopher began many years ago while watching his films. It increased when I was honored to produce him as a singer and as a narrator and we became friends instantly. Immediately after hearing the sheer power and range of his voice I thought I should write a narration; I never imagined we would ever re-record 'Battle Hymns' — but here we are and it is massive."
"Battle Hymns 2011" will feature two never-before-released live versions of "Death Tone" and "Fast Taker" recorded during the band's very first concerts in 1982. These are the rarest bonus materials ever released to date in MANOWAR's career.
"Our fans can be sure that we have squeezed every drop of power into 'Battle Hymns 2011' that today's technology allows," said vocalist Eric Adams.

In a recent video message, DeMaio explained the band's decision to re-record "Battle Hymns":
"We've had a couple of people ask why re-record a record like 'Battle Hymns' when it's perfect... I didn't say it's perfect, but other people said it's perfect, and we thank you for that. We're not trying to make it better, because it is what it is, but there's a lot of technology now that we didn't have when we made the record and we're gonna take advantage of it to make it as loud as we possibly can. So it won't be better; it'll just be different. And the songs themselves deserve to be recorded again because they're great songs and the fans have actually requested a lot of this to happen. And also, Donnie Hamzik, our original drummer, is back in the band, and he wanted to have another go at it. We're all together and we're gonna have a fucking great time."

"Hell On Earth V" covers MANOWAR's recent world tours, including Germany, Norway, Spain, Finland, Russia, Romania, Turkey, USA and Canada. STEVEN WILSON On Project With MIKAEL ÅKERFELDT: We Didn\'t Wanna Do A Prog-Metal Supergroup
 PORCUPINE TREE's Steven Wilson recently spoke to the U.K. branch of Roadrunner Records about his much-anticipated collaboration project with OPETH's Mikael Åkerfeldt, tentatively dubbed "Storm Corrosion". You can now watch the chat below.
On how the songwriting sessions for "Storm Corrosion" are progressing:
Wilson: "In March we started [working on the material for it]. It's sporadic, because we get together once every three months. [Mikael] comes over to my studio and we work for a few days and we get really drunk on red wine, go buy and loads of records and then come back, and if we're lucky, do, like, ten minutes work. But the incredible thing was that although, comparatively, we haven't worked that long, what we produced we were so happy with, and we are so happy with. It's nice to know that what we always suspected was that when we actually got together, it was gonna be quite easy. It was also in the back of your mind, thinking, 'Maybe it won't work.' Maybe it [was] just built up so much [in my head before we started writing songs], and it was so easy. So easy. And the music was so crazy and so inspiring to both of us. So I think that was good to feel, like, 'It's gonna work.' So we have about, I'd say, 25 minutes of music [written] so far. We're getting together again in November to do another piece or two. Drink some more wine, buy some more records... So that's kind of a work in progress, and I don't know when that will come out. Then it would be great to do some shows around that, too, but he's [Mikael] gonna be back with OPETH next year at some point, so it may not be feasible. But certainly the record [should be ready to be recorded and released by then]."
On the similarities and differences between PORCUPINE TREE and OPETH and how they play into the new project:
Wilson: "The funny thing is that the music we're making together is actually nothing like either of us made before. Because I think we both had this idea of this kind of music that we knew we couldn't get our bands to play, but that we both kind of understood where we were coming from. 'Cause we have this kind of passion [for] very experimental, obscure records, almost orchestral in their scope. And we wanted to make a record like that for a long time. It's a long way from metal and it's a long way from anything that, I think, Mikael has ever done, including the 'Damnation' record [from OPETH]. I think a lot of people thought, 'Oh, it's gonna be like 'Damnation'.' It's not; it's a long way from that, too. And it's actually a long way from anything I've done; [it's] possibly closer to aspects of things I've done, but really quite distinct from anything I've ever [released]. [It's] very orchestral, lots of strings, lots of guitars and vocals, too. Lots of very long songs that kind of go in different directions that you don't necessarily expect them to go in — almost theatrical in a way. And we both kind of admitted to ourselves that there are a lot of fans out there that are probably gonna hate it. But we're doing it for us. The one thing we didn't wanna do is get together and do a prog-metal supergroup, which would have been so easy to do — and kind of expected, in a way. And, you know, we might do that anyway one day. But this time around, we thought, 'Let's just do this [kind of] record.' Some people will love it and some people will not, and that's OK, because, in a way, I don't think we wanted to just give what was expected, and we're certainly not doing that."
On whether Steven and Mikael are self-producing the new project:
Wilson: "Right now, we kind of fall into my studio at midnight and work through the night and just... It's great, because in many respects, Mikael is the closest I know to someone who is... How do I put this? He's the equivalent of me in his band. He's like the captain of the ship and we kind of understand each other — all the frustrations of being in that position, all the stresses and pressures of being in that situation — so because of that, there's no ego thing at all — yet! [Laughs] But we're both kind of control freaks, in a way, so that's kind of a strange situation to be, where you're working with someone where you don't feel any of those issues and you have that complete trust. So we're just like... [I go], 'Here, you have the guitar. Do something amazing.' And he does. And then I'm like, 'Oh, I've got an idea for that,' and I do some keyboard thing. And he's like, 'That's amazing! I love that.' And so it's really... It sounds like we're kind of blowing each other the whole time... [Laughs] But it's just so much fun. And that's the important thing — I think it's fun. Because there's no ego and there's no pressure. Because people don't know what to expect. And we've kind of already resigned ourselves to the fact that we're gonna do something that people are gonna hate, anyway. I mean, I'm exaggerating... I'm sure a lot of people are gonna dig it. But people are gonna be surprised by it. We're not giving people what they expect, so there's little pressure, really — there's very little pressure. It's just literally swapping instruments and I'm kind of recording it on my own system."

GLOOMY GRIM: \'Grim Fate\' Single Available For Streaming
 Finnish black metallers GLOOMY GRIM recently completed work on a new two-track single containing a cover version of the MERCYFUL FATE classic "Black Funeral" and a new song, "Let My Enemy Suffer As I Do!" Entitled "Grim Fate", the single's cover art was created by Mario E. López M. (IRON MAIDEN, BURNING DARKNESS, HANGMAN).

GLOOMY GRIM's latest album, "Under the Spell of the Unlight", was released in May 2008 via Anticulture Records.
According to a press release, "It all began in 1984 as HELLSTORM. Agathon (vocals) got his first influences as a teenager from the bands like VENOM, HELLHAMMER and BATHORY. HELLSTORM ended quite soon, but the title 'Fuck The World, Kill The Jehova!' remained. GLOOMY GRIM used it as the first demo name. The folklore tells that HELLSTORM was the first black metal band in Finland. Agathon wanted to create dark music, music from the depth of the darkest pit of hell and with no compromises from any other band members. Agathon started GLOOMY GRIM as a one-man band. The biggest inspiration has always been the dark life itself and the soundtracks of the horror films he collected. Agathon made four albums with a strong line-up. GLOOMY GRIM has also made some furious live shows in continental Europe and the Baltic states. COMMUNIC Preparing To Enter Studio
 Norwegian metallers COMMUNIC are putting the finishing touches on the material for the follow-up to 2008's "Payment Of Existence". The band is planning to start the recording process in early 2011 for a tentative June 2011 release via Nuclear Blast Records.
Comments frontman Oddleif Stensland: "I am really excited about this new material that we have put together for this new album. There is still some work left, but we are getting closer. I think the heaviness of these songs will surprise many of you, and the overall feeling of it, is way darker this time. The songs are shorter, more in your face and may seem straightforward at first, but there are many twists and turns that will just creep under your skin. This album is DEEP!

GUNS N\' ROSES Reportedly Receives $1 Million To Play Private Show In Moscow
 GUNS N' ROSES was reportedly paid one million U.S. dollars to play a private show Friday night (October 29) in Moscow for Alexander Chistyakov, the deputy chairman of the management board of Federal Grid Company (FGC). The concert took place at a studio at Mosfilm (a Russian movie company), with GN'R singer Axl Rose arriving at the location at 2 a.m. (early Saturday morning). Guards were reportedly notified of his arrival 40 minutes before he showed up. They were asked to arrange "a green corridor" so all celebrities were asked to leave the VIP area and proceed to the general-admission area. To attend the concert, each invited guest had to pay about $1,000.

But history is still, yet to be written, because Steve Howe, Chris Squire and Alan White, along with Oliver Wakeman (Rick Wakeman's son) and new lead singer Benoit David, will enter the studio to record the groups first new CD in a decade. It is anticipated for release before summer 2011.

"Having the two new guys in the line-up has inspired the impetus behind the need for YES to return to the studio," explains Chris Squire, while Steve Howe adds "The new lineup has shown that we can operate well as a touring band, so now to expand that to recording would broaden our repertoire and the inclusion of Oliver and Benoit on new recordings will show a new leaf in YES music's continuing development."

Their symphonic use of sound and innovative musical style has made each of the group's players a virtuoso in his own right.

CURSE OF THE NORTH Begins Recording Debut Album
 CURSE OF THE NORTH — the new band featuring e-3 INCHES OF BLOOD bassist Nick Cates alongside two former members of the Seattle band BLACK HOUSES, Christiaan Morris and Patrick Taylor — has entered Studio Litho in Seattle, Washington with producer/engineer Matt Bayles (MASTODON, ISIS, THE SWORD) to begin recording its debut full-length album.
