RAGE Guitarist To Guest On RALF SCHEEPERS\' Solo Album
 RAGE guitarist Victor Smolski has finished laying down his parts for the forthcoming solo album from PRIMAL FEAR singer Ralf Scheepers. According to a posting on the PRIMAL FEAR web site, Achim Köhler (PRIMAL FEAR, AMON AMARTH, BRAINSTORM) has begun mixing the effort at his Indiscreet Audio Studios in Stuttgart, Germany. Other guests scheduled to appear on the CD include HALFORD guitarist "Metal" Mike Chlasciak (on the songs "Locked In The Dungeon" and "Dynasty"), Swedish guitarist Magnus Karlsson (PRIMAL FEAR, STARBREAKER, LAST TRIBE), powerhouse American vocalist Tim "Ripper" Owens (HAIL!, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, BEYOND FEAR, JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH; dueting with Scheepers in the track "Remission Of Sin"), Swedish multi-instrumentalist Snowy Shaw (THERION, DREAM EVIL, KING DIAMOND, MERCYFUL FATE, MEMENTO MORI, NOTRE DAME) on drums, Sander Gommans (AFTER FOREVER, HDK) on guitar and PRIMAL FEAR's Mat Sinner playing bass on the entire LP and producing.

NIRVANA Members To Reunite On New FOO FIGHTERS Album
 According to The Pulse of Radio, the next FOO FIGHTERS album, due out in 2011, will feature a reunion of FOO FIGHTERS frontman and former NIRVANA drummer Dave Grohl with NIRVANA bassist Krist Novoselic. Grohl broke the news to the BBC in England, saying only that Novoselic will make a guest appearance on bass. The album is being produced by Butch Vig, who produced NIRVANA's landmark 1991 album, "Nevermind", which also marked Grohl's recording debut with the iconic alternative trio.
Grohl and Novoselic have not recorded together since NIRVANA cut its final song back in 1993, "You Know You're Right". Grohl recalled the sessions for that track. "We had some time off before a tour, and Kurt wanted to go in and demo some stuff, so I said, 'Hey, why don't we do it at this studio down the street from my house,'" he said. "And we went down there, and we had three days booked. Kurt came in the last day and we were like, 'Okay, what do you wanna do?' And Kurt said, 'Well, why don't we do that song we've been doing at soundcheck?' And so we rehearsed it, I think, once, and then recorded it. Kurt did three or four vocal takes, and that was it."
Grohl also said that the new FOO FIGHTERS record, their seventh studio effort, is the band's heaviest yet, adding, "Each song is full on, the whole record is full on. In the 14 songs, there's not one acoustic guitar, there's not even one in the house."
The band is recording the album in Grohl's garage, with Grohl calling it "totally old school" and adding, "This whole project has been really cool. I haven't made a record with Butch for 20 years."
The recording process is also being filmed for a movie that will surface next year in conjunction with the album release.
The new FOO FIGHTERS set will follow up 2007's "Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace", which won a Grammy for album of the year. The band went on hiatus after touring behind the disc, as Grohl worked with THEM CROOKED VULTURES.

Former GOD MACABRE Vocalist Joins MORDBRAND
 Vocalist Per Boder (GOD MACABRE, MACABRE END) has joined the Swedish death metal unit MORDBRAND. An EP entitled "Crowning Of The Apocalypse" will be released as a seven-inch single in early 2011.
MORDBRAND guitarist Björn Larsson, who is also a member of THE LAW and KARENSDAG, commented: "To me, GOD MACABRE released a true classic record ('The Winterlong') in 1993 and Per has a very distinct and powerful growl.
"When I approached Per about joining our ranks, he was a bit reluctant since he hadn't sung since GOD MACABRE split up in 1993 or so. But he proved himself to be as vital as in the death metal glory days.
"The new stuff sounds exactly how we hoped it would sound. Deadly, catchy and raw!
"We are very excited about this alliance!"
"Crowning Of The Apocalypse" will consist of three new tracks, and a reworked version of "Big Trouble In Little Chinese Graveyard" (now entitled "Graveyard Re-Visited") with the new vocalist. The track will differ a lot from the old version (which can be found on the split 12inch with EVOKE, available on Me Saco Un Ojo Records).

GOJIRA To Record New Four-Song EP Next Week
 French extreme/progressive metallers GOJIRA will enter a Los Angeles, California-area studio next week with producer Logan Mader (ex-MACHINE HEAD/SOULFLY guitarist) to begin recording a new four-song EP, the proceeds from which will benefit Sea Shepherd, an anti-whaling organization. The EP will feature appearances by several "very special guests."
"We'll record and produce [four] songs that [we] will sell on our web site without going through traditional ways," guitarist/vocalist Joe Duplantier said in an April 2010 French-language video interview (see below). "The benefits of sales will be donated to Sea Shepherd. There will be guests from the international metal scene [on the record]."

KIUAS Singer Quits
 Finnish power metallers KIUAS have issued the following update:
"We have some startling news: our lead singer, Ilja Jalkanen, has decided to leave the band after some serious thinking. The reasons for this are purely musical and the chemistry within the band has always been great. In Ilja's own words, 'My heart is not in heavy metal anymore, and a great band like KIUAS deserves a singer completely dedicated to the music.'
"However, as all the fans know, although Ilja has been the voice of KIUAS for many years, his contribution to the songwriting has been very minimal and thus his departure won't affect the band's musical direction or diminish the power of the music in the future in any way. The fact is that KIUAS will be able to continue its musical journey with passion only without Ilja — this is the only way to go.
"Unfortunately, Ilja won’t be able to perform the gigs we have booked for October 29-31. We were on the verge of cancelling them, but luckily we were able to get talented vocalist Asim Searah to stand in for Ilja on those gigs.
"We apologize for announcing this so late, but we had agreed with the local promoters to do the U.K. tour before we announced Ilja leaving the band.
"We also have some good news: Ilja will still perform a farewell gig with KIUAS in Helsinki in January 2011. The exact date and venue will be announced later."

END OF GREEN Completes Work On \'Gravedancer\' EP
 German gothic rockers END OF GREEN have completed work on a new EP, "Gravedancer", featuring cover versions of songs by THE GOD MACHINE, BONNIE "PRINCE" BILLY, KYUSS, BAY LAUREL, W.A.S.P., THE SOUND, WARRIOR SOUL and COLD. The low-priced eight-track CD was produced by Michelle Darkness at Darklandstudios and will only be available at END OF GREEN's upcoming shows.
The "Gravedancer" EP will complete the box set the CD came with. It featured "High Hopes In Low Places", "Releaded" (a collection of new recordings of old END OF GREEN anthems) and free space for the "Gravedancer" EP.

NECROPHAGIST Guitarist Launches RADIANCE
 RADIANCE, the solo project of Sami Raatikainen (NECROPHAGIST, ex-CODEON), has released its debut album, "The Burning Sun". The conceptual effort consists of a single 49-minute song and features guest vocalists Mats Levén (KRUX, ex-THERION, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN) and Noora Häkkinen (NORADRENALINE). The album was produced, mixed and mastered by Sami Raatikainen.

Split-album with PANTHEIST and DISSOLVING OF PRODIGY
 We have uploaded a teaser of the upcoming Redrum666 release 'Unveiling the Signs', due in November 2010. The release in question is quite Pantheist tinted, as it contains not only a brand new Pantheist track (Barock) but also a track personally contributed by Pantheist member Kostas Panagiotou, as well as a track from Wijlen Wij, a band consisting of Kostas and three ex Pantheist session members. Hope it heightens your anticipation until we are able to inform you when we have copies available.

Ex-W.A.S.P. Guitarist Admits WHERE ANGELS SUFFER Debut Contains Previously Released Recordings
 Former W.A.S.P. guitarist Randy Piper has responded to accusations that the debut album from his new band, WHERE ANGELS SUFFER (W.A.S.), consists entirely of previously released recordings from his earlier group, RANDY PIPER'S ANIMAL.
In a statement released to BLABBERMOUTH.NET earlier today by former RANDY PIPER'S ANIMAL guitarist Chris Laney (real name: Ulf Larsson), the Swedish songwriter/producer/artist said that the material that he co-wrote and produced on the first two RANDY PIPER'S ANIMAL albums — 2006's "Violent New Breed" and 2008's "Virus" — is being re-released on WHERE ANGELS SUFFER's debut CD, "Purgatory", "without being re-recorded or remixed." Laney added that he "owns the mastertape and copyrights on 'Violent New Breed' and 'Virus'" and that the "Swedish record label who released 'Violent New Breed' and 'Virus' owns the license rights on those two albums." He concluded by saying that he "deeply hopes the songlist and songsamples for 'Purgatory'" that were provided on the Amazon.com web site "is a giant misunderstanding."
After Laney's comments were published on BLABBERMOUTH.NET, Piper released the following statement in an attempt to clarify the situation:
"Look before you leap, peeps. Credits on both albums read as follows: songs are written by Chris Laney, Randy Piper and Rich Lewis.
"Rich Lewis and I felt the fans deserved to hear these great tunes here in the USA.
"Chris Laney is a great songwriter and we hope to collaborate with him on another project in the future."
"The WHERE ANGELS SUFFER 'Purgatory' CD is a preliminary album to our new lineup of band members. We are working feverishly on our new songs. In fact, we are gathered together here in Florida as we speak.
"A lot of our fans have never heard 'Violent New Breed' and 'Virus' by RANDY PIPER'S ANIMAL, released on Locomotive Records, so we decided to release it now.
"We will be performing some of the songs from the 'Purgatory' album live in concert on our current tour.
"Locomotive Records closed their doors soon after they launched the record in the European market. Subsequently the record was not released in the USA."
