THE SOULLESS To Enter Studio In December
THE SOULLESS, the British melodic death metal act formerly known as IGNOMINIOUS INCARCERATION, will enter Outhouse Studios in Reading, England on December 15 with producer John Mitchell (ARCHITECTS, FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND, ENTER SHIKARI) to begin recording their new album for an April 2011 release via Earache Records.
Commented THE SOULLESS frontman Andy Wardle: "We couldn't be more excited about going into the studio. We were supposed to be going in in September, but because of the accident it had to be put back. So we've been waiting a long time to get in there! We have used our time well, however, to really tweak all the tracks and we are very happy with the result. We are also looking forward to working with the guys at Outhouse as we think they can really deliver the sound we want for this album." | 0

RANDY PIPER\'s Former Bandmate Is Confused By WHERE ANGELS SUFFER Debut
Swedish songwriter/producer/artist Chris Laney, who was previously a member of RANDY PIPER'S ANIMAL, the band led by former W.A.S.P. guitarist Randy Piper, has released the following statement:
"Chris Laney has been contacted by fans that told him that his former band colleagues Randy Piper and Rich Lewis are in progress of releasing songs from the RANDY PIPER'S ANIMAL albums 'Violent New Breed', released in 2006, and 'Virus', released in 2008.
"Chris Laney is both songwriter and producer of 'Violent New Breed' and 'Virus'.
"Chris Laney was told that Randy Piper and Rich Lewis are releasing songs from those two ablums, but under a new album name and with new bandmembers and new bandname. Randy Piper's new band is called W.A.S. [WHERE ANGELS SUFFER] and the so-called new album is called 'Purgatory'.
"Chris Laney could not believe such a rip-off could be true, but when he checked the samples at Amazon, he was totally taken aback. All songs on 'Purgatory' are taken from 'Violent New Breed' and 'Virus' without being re-recorded or remixed.
"Chris Laney owns the mastertape and copyrights on 'Violent New Breed' and 'Virus'. The Swedish record label who released 'Violent New Breed' and 'Virus' owns the license rights on those two albums. In other words, all songs sampled at Amazon as W.A.S. album 'Purgatory' are owned by others than W.A.S.
"Chris Laney has contacted his old bandmates and awaits an answer. Chris Laney deeply hopes the songlist and songsamples for 'Purgatory' is a giant misunderstanding."
* "Virus" (RANDY PIPER'S ANIMAL) audio samples
* "Violent New Breed" (RANDY PIPER'S ANIMAL) audio samples
* "Purgatory" (W.A.S.) audio samples
WHERE ANGELS SUFFER (W.A.S.). features Chris Holmes (guitar; ex-W.A.S.P.), Randy Piper (guitar; ANIMAL, ex-W.A.S.P.), Steve Unger (bass; ex-METAL CHURCH), Rich Lewis (vocals; ANIMAL) and Stet Howland (drums; ex-W.A.S.P.). The group's debut album, "Purgatory", is scheduled for release on October 31. Most of the recording sessions for the CD allegedly took place in Ft. Myers, Florida where the band comes together "to share ideas and tap the endless well of creativity their union has inspired," according to a press release.
"Purgatory" track listing:
01. Cardiac Arrest
02. Can't Stop
03. Don't Wanna Die
04. Crying Eagle
05. Unnatural High
06. Judgment Day
07. Zombie (CRANBERRIES cover)
08. Lust

ENSLAVED Announces Video Contest Winners
The members of Norway's renowned progressive/psychedelic black metal band ENSLAVED have announced the winners of their first-ever video contest. Fans around the world were asked to create and submit a video for the track "Ethica Odini" from the band's Billboard-charting new album "Axioma Ethica Odini", which was released in Europe on September 27 and in North America on September 28.
Guitarist/songwriter Ivar Bjørnson comments on the competition: "First and foremost we wish to thank everybody who has taken part in this contest. We have seen many exciting visual interpretations of our musical and conceptual universe; some of them stood out from the rest and we are really happy to announce the three winners of the competition. Also, we would like to take the opportunity to apologize for the delay in announcing the results. We have simply been outmaneuvered by touring and poor internet access on our touring trek throughout the last month. Thank you for your patience, and hope you will enjoy watching our new videos as much as we do!"
Vocalist/bassist/lyricist Grutle Kjellson adds: "Thanks a lot to all you great people that used your talent, passion and precious time on this contest! You should know that we are very proud of you all, and that we really appreciate your efforts! You are not afraid to bleed, not afraid to dream!"
The members of ENSLAVED have awarded first place to Luka Bajt (LookaB) from Slovenia. View the video below.
Clean vocalist/keyboard player Herbrand Larsen comments on the winning video: "[It] is original. It's not a typical metal video and originality is always appreciated. It uses elements from the [album] cover, both shapes and colors… something that connects the video with the aesthetics used in the cover [art]. Speed and motion suits the riffs and the tempo in the song. I'm very impressed, especially thinking of the pressure of time all the directors had to work under."
Drummer Cato B. adds: "The winning video had a clear concept and a defined script, and [it] also carried along some elements from the album cover. In addition, the video captured the mood of the song, plus was original and well-crafted. Congrats, Luka!"
Lead guitarist Ice Dale further comments: "I liked the atmosphere in the video and the way it affected the song. It reminded me of the TOOL videos which are personal favorites of mine. The use of colors from the cover artwork was also cool and gave it the right vibe. The video stands out from the rest and deserves to be the video for 'Ethica Odini'! Well done and congratulations!!!"
Luka's winning entry will be branded as an "official" video for "Ethica Odini" and featured the band's official YouTube channel. In addition, ENSLAVED will use the video in a live setting. Luka Bajt will also receive:
* ALL VERSIONS of "Axioma Ethica Odini", including the limited-edition wooden box, autographed by the band.
* A special "thank you" video from ENSLAVED.
* Two guest list spots + a meet-and-greet session with ENSLAVED at a live concert.
* Band merchandise.
Second place has been awarded to Gildo Iacovella (TheSpiral8) from Italy. View the video here.
Gildo's winning entry will be branded as an "official" video for "Ethica Odini" and featured the band's official YouTube channel. Gildo Iacovella will also receive:
* A special "thank you" video from ENSLAVED.
* Two guest list spots + a meet-and-greet session with ENSLAVED at a live concert.
* Band merchandise.
Third place has been awarded to Miller Arias (Hammerheart) from Colombia. View the video here.
Miller's winning entry will be branded as an "official" video for "Ethica Odini" and featured the band's official YouTube channel. Miller Arias will also receive:
* A special "thank you" video from ENSLAVED.
* Band merchandise. | 0 | |

TURISAS Completes Work On New Album
Finnish "battle metal" warriors TURISAS have completed work on their as-yet-untitled third album for an early 2011 release via Century Media Records. The CD was recorded between March and September 2010 at Sound Supreme studios in in Hämeenlinna, Finland, and was mixed by Jens Bogren (OPETH, PARADISE LOST) at Fascination Street studios in Örebro, Sweden. The album was produced by vocalist and main songwriter Mathias "Warlord" Nygård.
TURISAS will embark on a U.S. tour in February/March 2011 as the support act for CRADLE OF FILTH. Also scheduled to appear on the bill are NACHTMYSTIUM (USA) and DANIEL LIONEYE (Finland). Mainland Europe and U.K. shows will follow in early 2011.
Commented Nygård: "After a 16-month break from touring, focusing fully on the work on our third album, I'm happy to tell you that we're DONE! The workload has been enormous, and at times I've wished I'd known better, formed a punk rock band and kept things simple! But to achieve real progress, you really have to dig deep and see what you're made of. Take bites so big, you almost choke.
"We've stayed true to our ideology of releasing music only when we have something new to come out with, not repeating ourselves or just copying what we've done in the past to feed the market. Now that we're done with studios, we're all extremely excited to get back on the road again, and as our latest visit to North America is long overdue, coming over in January with CRADLE is something we're all very much looking forward to. We had a great time touring with them in Europe in 2009, so this should be killer! Now we only have to figure out how to play these new songs!!"

AUTUMNS EYES Founder Gearing Up For Video And DVD Releases - \"A New Breed Of Visual Abominations Approaches\"
AUTUMNS EYES founder Dan Mitchell has issued the following update:
"In an attempt to distract myself from infusing apples with poison/candies with razors, I have decided its time for another update. It's no secret that October is indeed a month of inspiration and creation for Autumns Eyes. With the completion of Please Deceive Me slowly creeping up on the ears of its unfortunate listeners, a new breed of visual abominations approaches to coincide with the release. In other words, new music videos.
The first video scheduled is for the track 'Haunting Your Daughter', which has a very '80s horror movie/Nightmare On Elm Street sound to it. It will also contain an intro track titled 'Red Wine And Resin, a creepy Goblin-inspired instrumental song which sets the stage for the story.
While keeping on the video subject, I suppose it's a good time to announce the very first DVD release from Autumns Eyes. A date has yet to be scheduled, but the DVD will contain several music videos, documentaries, interviews, and a few surprises to be announced at a later date.
With this week leading up to Halloween, I have also put together a Halloween Costume Contest. All you need to enter is a photo of yourself in your Halloween Costume. See below for more details."
Autumns Eyes is holding a Halloween Costume Contest with a chance to win free Autumns Eyes merchandise. Fans are required to submit a photo of their costume, and winners will be selected one week after Halloween.
1st Prize: 3 items of your choice from the Autumns Eyes store
2nd Prize: 2 items of your choice from the Autumns Eyes store
3rd Prize: 1 item of your choice from the Autumns Eyes store
You can submit your photo at this link."

JEFF SCOTT SOTO To Release \'Live At Firefest 2008\' Double Live Album
Frontiers Records has set a December 3 release date for JEFF SCOTT SOTO's double live album, "Live at Firefest 2008".
Firefest has become a pivotal event in the melodic rock season in Europe. Born from the ashes of the Gods of AOR festival, Firefest started in 2004 and not only did it continue the tradition of Europe's finest melodic rock/AOR festivals, but exceeded all previous expectations.
Jeff Scott Soto performed at the Gods festival in 2002, putting on an amazing show that was captured on a live CD/DVD. So when the call came to Jeff about the new and continued version of this proven festival, he wasted no time in answering, "Of course!"
But not all good things come easily… "Unfortunately, the date clashed with my commitments touring with the TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA in the U.S. for their annual winter tour," recalls Jeff. "This meant a week of 12-hour rehearsals in the U.S., leaving on a Friday to land in London on a Saturday morning, bee-line it up to Nottingham for four hours in traffic, meet with the band for 30 minutes, as they were wrapping up the ONLY rehearsal we had prior to the show (the last time we had played together was nearly a year prior!), straight to the venue and onstage within the next hour!"
But once onstage, the warmth of the crowd and the energy transmitted by the electricity of the event was such that Jeff and his band stormed through the 70-minute set like gangbusters! It was the first time the songs from the "Beautiful Mess" album were performed in Europe and the last show the original JEFF SCOTT SOTO band — featuring Howie Simon on guitar, Dave Dzialak on drums and Gary Schutt on bass — played together.
In Soto's words: "Here it is in all its glory, a little extra something for you all to help me remember this wonderful night of music and memories."
"Live at Firefest 2008" track listing:
CD1:
01. 21st Century
02. Colour My XTC (prelude)
03. Soul Divine
04. Drowning
05. Our Song
06. DD Solo
07. Guitar Jam
08. Mountain
09. Eyes Of Love
10. Testify

MANOWAR Re-Recording \'Battle Hymns\' With Original Drummer; Video Available
MANOWAR is in process of re-recording its classic 1982 debut album, "Battle Hymns", for a 2011 release.
Commented MANOWAR bassist Joey DeMaio: "We've had a couple of people ask why re-record a record like 'Battle Hymns' when it's perfect... I didn't say it's perfect, but other people said it's perfect, and we thank you for that. We're not trying to make it better, because it is what it is, but there's a lot of technology now that we didn't have when we made the record and we're gonna take advantage of it to make it as loud as we possibly can. So it won't be better; it'll just be different. And the songs themselves deserve to be recorded again because they're great songs and the fans have actually requested a lot of this to happen. And also, Donnie Hamzik, our original drummer, is back in the band, and he wanted to have another go at it. We're all together and we're gonna have a fucking great time."
Video footage of DeMaio talking about the decision to re-record "Battle Hymns" and laying down bass tracks in the studio can be viewed below.
MANOWAR's new album, "Hammer Of The Gods", which is the first installment of "The Asgard Saga", the band's unique multimedia fantasy adventure with best-selling author Wolfgang Hohlbein, is due next year.
MANOWAR's latest DVD in the "Hell On Earth" series was released on November 27, 2009. "Hell On Earth V" covers MANOWAR's recent world tours, including Germany, Norway, Spain, Finland, Russia, Romania, Turkey, USA and Canada. It features live performances of old and new classics such as "Gloves Of Metal", "The Crown And The Ring", "Hand Of Doom", "Hymn Of The Immortal Warrior", "Father", "God Or Man" and many others.

AFTER DEATH
An old idea from around 2002 is finally coming true. A tribute to VENOM Album. VENOM has always been a big influence for quite a lot of IRON PEGASUS bands and the label itself.
It will not be just another tribute but a tribute with bands that somehow worked (or will work) with IRON PEGASUS or ROCK SAVIOUR, with bands who understand what VENOM was all about, like DESASTER, TARANIS, SUPERCHRIST, ROK, GORGON, etc.
No cheap rehearsal or live stuff but real studio recordings.
As a special feature, AFTER DEATH will do a coverversion of the entire "At War With Satan" song, something nobody has done before (as far as we know).
Release date is not sure yet, but let's hope for Autumn/Winter 2010. | 0

METALLICA: \'Live At Grimey\'s\' Cover Artwork Unveiled
METALLICA will release a live album called "Live At Grimey's" on Friday, November 26. The set was recorded on June 12, 2008 at the tiny 150-capacity venue The Basement, located below the Grimey's New & Preloved Music record store in Nashville. The intimate gig was a warm-up for the band's debut at the Bonnaroo Festival that same weekend.
Drummer Lars Ulrich told The Pulse of Radio at the time that even after years of playing outdoor arenas and stadiums, METALLICA still enjoyed doing intimate shows. "Playing small places are always fun. Any time you have a small place and you've got a lot of energy and a good vibe in a small place it's always fun 'cause the energy's contained," he said. "And obviously we spend a lot of time playing outdoors, and outdoors, it's great. But the energy kind of goes to the stars, you know. When you're playing small places and the energy's contained, it's pretty awesome."
"Live At Grimey's" will be sold as a standard CD and as a limited edition two-disc vinyl set in a gatefold sleeve.
The album will be sold only at the approximately 700 independent record stores that support the annual Record Store Day, held each year in April.
In announcing the album, METALLICA posted at its web site, "We were honored to be part of the first-ever annual event celebrating independently owned records stores, a.k.a. Record Store Day, with an in-store at Rasputin Music in Mountain View, California on April 19, 2008 and we're very proud to be a part of another special event with our friends at independent retail."
Check out the "Live At Grimey's" cover artwork below.
Official Metallica.com video footage of METALLICA's "secret" June 12, 2008 performance at The Basement (Grimey's) in Nashville, Tennessee in front of an estimated 175 people can be viewed below.
METALLICA is currently completing its touring cycle behind 2008's "Death Magnetic" album with shows in Australia and New Zealand.

METALLICA: \'Six Feet Down Under Part II\' EP Due In November
METALLICA's official web site has been updated with the following message:
"If you picked up 'Six Feet Down Under' [METALLICA's limited-edition eight-song live EP, which came out on September 20 in conjunction with the band's tour of Australia and New Zealand], you may have noticed the words 'EP One' on the package and were quick to ask, 'What the hell does that mean?' Well, drum roll please . . . you guessed it, there is indeed an 'EP Two' in the works . . . very clever clue, don't ya think? Look for 'Six Feet Down Under Part II' in Australian and New Zealand stores, along with Metallica.com and Metclub.com, on November 12.
"In our quest to have something unique and special to celebrate our long overdue visit to this part of the world, as well as the final stretch of 'World Magnetic' tour dates, we wanted to release some live recordings from previous tours on EP # 1 and a companion EP from the current 2010 tour. The first time around we called on you to send us your bootleg recordings from those earlier tour dates going back as far as 1989 and we pulled a track list together from the submissions. Once again we went to you, the 'TALLICA faithful, for help and polled Fan Club members from Australia and New Zealand to come up with their top eight picks from all the 41 songs played during the early part of the Trans-Tasman run this year."
