APOCALYPTICA: \'End Of Me\' Video Released

APOCALYPTICA traveled to Los Angeles in early June to shoot a music video for "End Of Me", the first single from the Finnish rock cello quartet's upcoming album, "7th Symphony". The song features BUSH singer Gavin Rossdale on vocals, with Rossdale also making an appearance in the video.

ZOROASTER: \'Odyssey\' Video Released

"Odyssey", the new video from the Atlanta, Georgia "psych metal" band ZOROASTER, can be viewed below (courtesy of Stereogum). The clip was was helmed by director Chad Rullman for Supercollider Films. The Atlanta-based Rullman is known previously for directing MASTODON's career-launching videos "March of the Fire Ants" and "Iron Tusk" as well as his work for such artists as NEUROSIS, NILE and SOILENT GREEN.

FILTER Signs European Deal With NUCLEAR BLAST RECORDS

U.S. alternative rockers FILTER have inked a European deal with Nuclear Blast Records. The band's fifth studio album, "The Trouble With Angels", will be released in Europe in September.

Commented Markus Jakob of Nuclear Blast: "I just can't express what it's like to announce this signing! I guess if it comes to intelligent, emotional, thrilling rock music with a progressive/alternative approach, no one does it like Richard Patrick does! GENERATION KILL: New Demo Clip Posted Online

GENERATION KILL, the new crossover outfit featuring EXODUS frontman Rob Dukes, has uploaded new demo clip, entitled "Walking Dead", to the band's MySpace page.

The group, whose lineup also includes Rob Moschetti (ex-PRO-PAIN, M.O.D.) on bass and Sam Inzerra (MORTICIAN) on drums, is currently in the studio working on more new material.

Swedish "death 'n' roll" band THE GENERALS has issued the following update:

"The two upcoming weekends we will do two festival gigs and directly after that its back to Karlstad and continue the songwriting for album number two. We will record some demos during the fall and then hopefully we will begin recording the album sometime during 2011."

ENDSTILLE: New Album Title Revealed

German black metallers ENDSTILLE have set "Infektion 1813" as the title of their new album, tentatively due before the end of the year. The first song from the song, "When Kathaaria Falls", will be made available online within the next weeks.

CORONATUS Announces New Singer

German sympho-gothic metallers CORONATUS have announced the addition of singer Natalia Kempin to the group's ranks. Natalia will handle the classical soprano vocals which were previously performed by Karmen R. Lorch.

Karmen left CORONATUS this past spring for "private reasons."

Natalia previously played with the Russian metal band ARCANE GRAIL and did session work for STIGMATIC CHORUS, SHADOW HOST and a few others. She is normally known as a lyric-dramatic soprano but with one interesting exception — in addition to singing in the classical style, she also growls.

CORONATUS is currently working on material for its fourth full-length album for a 2011 release.

DEATH ANGEL: New Album Title, Artwork Revealed

San Francisco Bay Area metal veterans DEATH ANGEL have set "Relentless Retribution" as the title of their new album, due on September 3 in Europe and September 14 in the U.S. via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD was recorded at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida with producer Jason Suecof (TRIVIUM, AUGUST BURNS RED, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, ALL THAT REMAINS, WHITECHAPEL, DEVILDRIVER). The cover artwork was created by Brent Elliot White (JOB FOR A COWBOY, CARNIFEX, WHITECHAPEL) and can be viewed below.

Commented DEATH ANGEL vocalist Mark Osegueda: "I haven't been as excited about the cover artwork on any other DEATH ANGEL album as I am for this one! It fits the whole theme of the album! Angry and aggressive! I think what excites me most is that Brent did the artwork based on our lyrics! It wasn't an already finished product.

"When we first saw Brent's work, we were floored by the mixture of fantasy meets reality and we knew we wanted him to do the artwork for this album! In the end he surpassed our expectations with the fiercest DEATH ANGEL album cover to date!"

Added Brent Elliot White: "Originally the theme of this album was betrayal by those close to you and revenge against the deceitful. After a pretty spirited conversation with Rob [Cavestany, guitar] and e-mails back and forth, the saying 'wolf in sheep's clothing' kept coming up. Basically, we danced around that metaphor 'till it became pretty clear that a direct interpretation was the way to go.

"Illustrating betrayal and revenge in a single piece proved to be a challenge, but as I received the lyrics to the songs, things quickly fell into place."

Singer Mark Osegueda previously stated about the band's decision to work with Suecof, "The new material is the most aggressive and technical music we have written in years. So we needed a producer that was capable of unleashing the tones that match and complement the overall vibe of the songs. With Jason's experience in producing some of the most brutal contemporary metal artists and albums of today, I know we made the right choice! I think the collaboration between the two of us will prove to be venomous and infectious!"

DEATH ANGEL debuted two brand new songs — "River" and "Into The Arms Of Righteous Anger" — during its appearance at last year's Speedfest, which was held November 28, 2009 in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. The concert marked the group's first appearance with bassist Damien Sisson (SCARECROW, POTENTIAL THREAT) following the departure of Sammy Diosdado (THE SICK, ALL TIME HIGHS).

DEATH ANGEL's longtime drummer and original member Andrew Galeon left the band in April 2009 and has since been replaced by Will Carroll, formerly of SCARECROW, OLD GRANDAD and VICIOUS RUMORS.

DEATH ANGEL will team up with Godfathers of Swedish modern metal SOILWORK, Quebec's tech-death masters AUGURY, Roadrunner Records recording artists MUTINY WITHIN, and pirate-themed thrashers SWASHBUCKLE for a North American tour in July/August.

WHILE HEAVEN WEPT: Live Album Details Announced

Virginia-based epic doom metallers WHILE HEAVEN WEPT will release a new live album, "Triumph: Tragedy: Transcendence - Live At The Hammer Of Doom Festival", in November.

"Triumph: Tragedy: Transcendence" will be made available as a CD/DVD set courtesy of Cruz Del Sur Music, as well as a 2xLP set via a joint collaboration between Cruz Del Sur Music, Iron Kodex, and High Roller Records. The DVD portion will contain several bonus features that will be detailed after the band will finish the studio work on the masters.

The release is a stunning 24-track audio capture of WHILE HEAVEN WEPT's performance at the Posthalle in Würzburg, Germany on February 6, 2010. The final master will be later synchronized to the multi-camera pro-shot footage, resulting in the band's very first DVD. This release is guaranteed to take all fans by surprise, considering the awesome quality of both audio and video materials.

The philosophy behind this release is twofold; First, it is an expression of gratitude to everyone who attended the show — who made it such a special, unforgettable experience for the band. Secondly, being that there are so many fans of the band who they've not been able to reach tour-wise, this record should help tide those fans over until WHILE HEAVEN WEPT can make it to their town.

Vuvuzelas Banned From Wacken Open Air 2010

This year's edition of the Wacken Open Air festival is scheduled for August 5th - 7th in Wacken, Germany.

Organizers have issued the following message:

"Many of you might have a Vuvuzela , suitable for the World Championship in South Africa. Vuvuzelas officially have a sound level of 135 decibels, which is 10 dB louder than a starting jet plane so we have decided to ban them completely from the festival.

To avoid that the live performances of the artists will be disturbed by the nerve strucking trumpet noises, our security will check the whole audience at the entrance to the festival area. If someone doesn´t abide to this rule, the security is advised to take theses instruments away.

Please also take care at the camping area and do not disturb your neighbours. They will thank you for this...

Thanks for your understanding."

CONSPIRACY Completes Work On \'Irremediable\' -

Dutch extreme metal act CONSPIRACY will release its third full-length album, "Irremediable", later this year via Pulverised Records. The DCD offers 12 warring tracks with artwork (see below) inspired by controversial 17th century artist Félicien Rops.

Previously helmed by sole member Alex "Carpathian Wolf" (formerly known as Al' Hazred of MELECHESH fame), CONSPIRACY now features Wolf alongside German guitarist, composer and orchestrator Aryan Blaze.

Elaborated Wolf on the latest offering: "This time CONSPIRACY doesn't just spit rage and hatred but presents the symphony of sinister entertainment for the elite black metal consumer.

"The material on 'Irremediable' ranges from blackened heavy metal with melodic and harmonious guitar solos to black metal with unorthodox elements, which will pleasantly surprise even the most spoilt listeners.

MEGADETH\'s MUSTAINE: Press Was Responsible For Keeping \'Big Four\' Feuds Alive

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has issued the following update:

"So now that the 'Big Four' dates have come and gone, I feel it is time to check in, say 'Hello' and tell you what has been going on in my world.

"First off, when we left San Marcos [California] and Mustaine Music Studios, a.k.a. Vic's Garage, we had no idea what to expect, other than the fact that we wanted to make a point; we wanted to make the other bands feel comfortable, we wanted the fans to all leave this momentous occasion feeling completely satiated, we wanted the guys in METALLICA to know that we could be depended on to pull our share...

"I don't know if we delivered for everyone, but for the tens of thousands of people each night, and ultimately hundreds of thousands of fans over the entire run of the 'Big Four' festivals (affectionately dubbed 'Sonisphere'), it seemed to me that the fans were finally able to put aside the silly stuff that the press has kept on life support for so many, many years. We did several round-table interviews with a member from each camp of the 'Big Four,' and one thing that was a constant and that we all agreed on was that the press was the responsible parties for keeping the feuds alive.

"You heard it straight from our mouths; we are all at peace with one another, and we all are friends. DETONATION Issue Reprisal Album Update - \"We\'ll Get It Released One Way Or Another\"; Band To Shoot Video For \'Washing Away The Blood\'

Dutch extreme metallers DETONATION has issued the following update from vocalist Koen Romeijn:

"As you all will know by now, the music industry is a tough place nowadays for an underground metal band such as Detonation.

We are still working on getting a record deal to release our new album, Reprisal. It's difficult, but don't worry, we'll get it released one way or another. It might take some time, but the wait will be worth it.

Good news is that we are shooting a professional video clip for 'Washing Away The Blood' from the new album, together with the company Framecat from Belgium. It's half way done by now, and it looks pretty brutal ;) Can't wait to have it finished!

If there's news, we'll let you know right away."

Recently, the band announced, "Finally! The new album is finished! We have set Reprisal as the title for our fourth full length album. Check out the cover artwork (left) (made by Kevin Storm).

We're very pleased with the outcome of this CD, it's heavier than anything we've done in the past, and the songs also feel more personal and in your face. Our new band mates Michiel and Danny also put their mark on it, and both did an excellent job on Reprisal.

METALLICA, VAN HALEN Nominated In \'Music Game\' Category At GOLDEN JOYSTICK AWARDS

According to Glasswerk.co.uk, METALLICA was nominated in the "Music Game Of The Year" category in the world's biggest video games awards event, the Golden Joystick Awards. The band's "Guitar Hero: Metallica" title will face stiff competition from the hugely popular "The Beatles: Rock Band" and "Guitar Hero: Van Halen".

All three bands released their games in the past 12 months and are nominated alongside seven other blockbuster console based music games.

IRON MAIDEN Guitarist Talks About Forthcoming Album

Gary Graff of Billboard.com recently spoke to IRON MAIDEN guitarist Dave Murray about "The Final Frontier", the band's forthcoming 15th studio LP which will be released in North America on August 17 (one day earlier internationally) via Universal Music Enterprises (UMe).

"We breezed through the album, really," Murray tells Billboard.com. "We actually finished it in six weeks. We were getting down a track a day — all playing together as a band, Bruce (Dickinson) singing, all in the same room, so there's a very live-in-the-studio feel to it. Once we finished a track we'd jump straight into doing some extra guitar bits. It was very quick for us."

Murray says the 10-track set mixes "straight-ahead, uptempo rock songs with good grooves with some other tracks that are kind of longer and more complex." The album closer, "When the Wild Wind Blows", is an 11-minute track that's one of the longest songs IRON MAIDEN has ever recorded. "The rhythm's a little bit different from what we've done before, and there's lots of melodies," Murray says. "It's a big song. We learned it in sections just because it was such a complex arrangement, but it sounds quite natural (on the record)."

Italy's BROKEN MELODY have started the recordings for a new promo EP. This promo will include some songs that will represent a part of the evolution of Broken Melody's style.

The recordings for the band's documentary, Know Your Identities, are going well and the band say that they are very satisfied with the results so far.

In other news, the band will soon release new promo pictures, shot by photographer Giulio Fanelli.

METALFORCE - New Song Available For Free Download; New METALFORCE TV Episode Available

German bashers METALFORCE have released a brand new song to support every soccer team at the World Cup, called 'On Your Way', for free. As a German band they of course also did the German version of the song called 'Geh Den Weg' to support the German team.

Swedish progressive/experimental metallers THERION will release their new album, "Sitra Ahra", in September via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD was mixed at the legendary Polar Studios in Stockholm by Lennart Östlund (LED ZEPPELIN, ABBA). The cover artwork was created by Thomas Ewerhard, who worked on all of the band's most recent releases in addition to collaborating with EDGUY, AVANTASIA, RAGE and HAMMERFALL, among others.

HATESPHERE Announces New Singer

Danish thrashers HATESPHERE have recruited Esben "Esse" Hansen of AS WE FIGHT as the group's new vocalist. In addition, the band has parted ways with bassist Mixen Lindberg and has temporarily replaced him with returning HATESPHERE member Mikael Ehlert (who will remain with the group until the end of 2010).

Commented Esben "Esse" Hansen: "It didn't take me much time to decide that I wanted to be the new singer of HATESPHERE. Besides making some of the best metal music on Danish soil, HATESPHERE is one of the coziest bands in Denmark. And I'm very excited to be a permanent part of it all. "Pins And Needles" kommt demnach am 14. September 2010 auf den Markt und hoffentlich zeitnah auch hier in Deutschland an. Das Label METROPLIS zeigt nun das Artwork der CD und die Tracklist.

Reunited THE CROWN Signs With CENTURY MEDIA RECORDS

Reunited Swedish death/thrash metal act THE CROWN has inked a worldwide deal with Century Media Records. The band's new album, "Doomsday King", is scheduled for release in September.

INFERNAEON Completes Work On New Album

Florida's INFERNAEON has completed recording its second full-length album for a late summer release via Prosthetic Records. The CD was recorded at Erik Rutan's Mana Recording Studios (GOATWHORE, CANNIBAL CORPSE, HATE ETERNAL) in St. Petersburg, Florida with producer Brian Elliott. The follow-up to 2007's "A Symphony of Suffering" marks the group's first release with new guitarists Taylor Nordberg and Steven Harger and bassist Mike Poggion.

Commented INFERNAEON founder and ex-MONSTROSITY vocalist Brian Werner: "It's been one hell of an adventure getting this thing done, man; we went up to down, good to bad and back to better than before. We faced a ton of obstacles in the process of this and rolled right over every motherfucker that got in our way and at the end of the day, perseverance really paid off.

"It was an honor to work with everyone in involved in this final product and it turned out better than we ever could have imagined."

INFERNAEON has shared stages with the likes of MALEVOLENT CREATION, DEICIDE, ATHEIST, DEEDS OF FLESH, VILE, and IMPALED, and is ready to show the underworld that Florida is still firmly atop the heap of extreme metal.

SYRACH Records Demo Of Four New Songs

Norwegian doom metallers SYRACH have issued the following update:

"Last weekend we had Adam [Suleiman, drums] coming over the mountains from Oslo, and we started working on a pre-production of four brand new tracks. With little or no preparations, we had a certain pressure to get them right. Adam had never played the tracks before, and had to come up with the drum tracks and rehearse them. Also it had to be done close to perfect, since we recorded everything live in our rehearsal room. Luckily, Adam and the rest of us managed to get a few tracks right, and in the end we had all four tracks recorded even with some time to spare for some leads and some food...

"We were supposed to get the vocals done last week, but since mister Ripper [Kenneth Olsen] decided to spend the night fishing (without getting any, of course...) he had to call in sick and could not do any vocals at all. but fear nothing; he'll get it done this week, and the songs will sound great in the end!

"As of now, we are very satisfied with the outcome, as a demo. We'll probably not go into studio before 3-4 more songs are made, but we have plenty of material lying around, so hopefully it won't take too long. The pre-prod is about 40 minutes already, so we'll soon enough be ready for studio, we hope."
