DEW-SCENTED: Entire New Album Available For Streaming
 German thrashers DEW-SCENTED will release their new album, "Invocation", on May 24 in Europe via Metal Blade Records and May 25 in North America through Prosthetic Records.
The entire CD is available for streaming at this location for a full week up until the U.K. release date of May 24.
The album artwork was created by Björn Goosses of Killustrations and can be viewed below.
Commented vocalist Leif Jensen: "We were lucky to work with Björn again and he did an amazing job on this one, nailing down an apocalyptic artwork that fits perfectly to our style as well as the concept/vibe of 'Invocation'. Total thrash!
"We have been working with Killustrations non-stop for all our albums and merchandising matters since 2003's release, 'Impact', and are once more very proud of the final results!"
"Invocation" was recorded and mixed at Soundlodge Studio in Northern Germany with producer Jörg Uken (GOD DETHRONED, SINISTER).

DEW-SCENTED will play a very special "Invocation" album-release show on June 4 at the Tower club in Bremen, Germany. Also scheduled to appear are GOD DETHRONED from The Netherlands and local Northern German death metal friends DESPONDENCY.
Formed in 1992, DEW-SCENTED has released seven previous full-lengths on labels such as Nuclear Blast, Grind Syndicate and Steamhammer/SPV. The band has toured with a who's who of extreme music, including CANNIBAL CORPSE, NAPALM DEATH, BEHEMOTH, KREATOR, SODOM and OVERKILL.

PATHOLOGY: New Song Posted Online
 American brutal death metal masters PATHOLOGY will release their new album, "Legacy Of The Ancients", on July 6 via Victory Records. The CD was engineered by Jeff Forest (AS I LAY DYING, BLEEDING THROUGH) at Doubletime Studios in the band's home base of San Diego, California and was mixed and mastered by Erik Rutan (CANNIBAL CORPSE, MALEVOLENT CREATION) at Mana Recording Studios in St. Petersburg, Florida. "We feel the recording came out extremely heavy and exactly how we wanted," stated drummer Dave Astor. "The drums are explosive, the guitars are thick and very tight, and the vocals are brutally crushing."

DOWNLOAD Festival 2010 To Rename Second Stage \'Ronnie James Dio Stage\'
 The organizers of the annual Download festival — which returns for an eighth year to Donington Park, United Kingdom from Friday, June 11 to Sunday, June 13 — have issued the following update:
"The rock world was in a state of shock [yesterday, May 16] when it was announced that Ronnie James Dio, one of the finest vocalists ever to walk the earth sadly passed away.
"The legendary singer, who fronted bands including BLACK SABBATH and DIO, had been battling with stomach cancer since the end of 2009.
"As our tribute to the great man, we've revealed that the second stage at this year's Download will official be called the Ronnie James Dio Stage."
Writing on his Twitter profile, festival organizer Andy Copping said, "The second stage at Download this year is to be renamed the Ronnie James Dio stage as a tribute to the great man with the incredible voice."

OPETH Frontman On RONNIE JAMES DIO\'s Passing: \'There Is A Massive Hole In My Heart\'
 Vocalist/guitarist Mikael Åkerfeldt of Swedish progressive metallers OPETH has posted the following message on the band's web site regarding the passing of legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio (DIO, HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW):
"I saw the news last night and I hated them.
"Ronnie James Dio is gone…. I love him almost like a family member, and I feel empty and lonely knowing he's not around anymore. He sits on my wall as he has since my family moved in here. Can't bring myself to hear him sing right now, even though I think it might be comforting if I did.
"I was fortunate enough to meet him and share a few drinks with him once, and it's a memory I will treasure to the end of my days. He blew my mind, quite honestly.
"Thank you, Ronnie James Dio, for everything!
"Our collective condolences goes out to his families and friends and the musicians that were fortunate enough to work with him.
"I was thinking about this for quite some time, and I think we can say for sure that even if he was taken from us too soon (100 years from now would've been to soon), I'm sure he felt happy with his life and what he had achieved. HELHEIM Begins Recording New Mini-CD, Full-Length Album
 Norway's HELHEIM, well known for incorporating Norse history into its music and performances, has entered Conclave Studio with producer Bjørnar Nilsen to begin recording a new mini-CD and a new full-length album. The mini-CD, entitled "Aasgaards Fall", will be released in September, while the full-length, entitled "Heiðindómr ok Mótgang", will be made available in January 2011.
In other news, the band states, "Even though we are dedicating most of our time to the upcoming albums, etc., we have found room for a couple of weekends to do live in July."

MARILYN MANSON To Star In Slasher Film
 Pamela McClintock of Variety.com reports that Marilyn Manson and his on-again girlfriend Evan Rachel Wood will star in Adam Bhala Lough's retro slasher film "Splatter Sisters", to be produced by veteran producer Edward R. Pressman and filmmaker David Gordon Green.
The film, penned by Lough, is the first in a planned franchise and is a sexploitation-serial-killer-slasher-road-movie circa 1989.
"This is a role Marilyn Manson was born to play, and with Evan Rachel Wood bringing dramatic gravity to the ensemble, I have no doubt this will take the horror genre to a new level," Green said.

 Swedish death metallers AEON will release their third album, "Path Of Fire", on May 25 (one day earlier internationally) via Metal Blade Records. The CD was recorded in September 2009 at Empire Studio in Östersund, Sweden and was mixed the following month at Mana Recording Studios in St, Petersburg, Florida by Erik Rutan (HATE ETERNAL, MORBID ANGEL, CANNIBAL CORPSE). The mastering was handled by Alan Douches at West West Side Music (CONVERGE, HATEBREED, THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN) in New Windsor, New York. All artwork and layout was made by Daniel Dlimi.

SPV/STEAMHAMMER RECORDS Mourns Loss Of RONNIE JAMES DIO
 Germany's SPV/Steamhammer Records has released the following statement regarding the passing of legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio (DIO, HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW):
"It is with deepest sadness that we mourn the loss of a true legend, an amazing man, and one of the best rock/metal voices ever. The entire staff at SPV offers our deepest condolences to Ronnie James Dio's friends and family. He was truly one the best artists we ever had the pleasure of working with, and the memories that we have of him and his music will live on in our hearts forever."
