PEARL JAM has released an uncensored version of its Mark Pellington-directed "Jeremy" video. The song, from the group's 1991 album "Ten", describes an unpopular boy who brings a gun into his classroom and starts shooting people. It is based on the real-life suicide of high school student Jeremy Wade Delle, who shot himself in front of his classmates in January 1991.
In the uncensored version, Jeremy — played by actor Trevor Wilson — is shown placing the gun in his mouth.
PEARL JAM released the uncensored "Jeremy" video on Friday to mark National Gun Violence Awareness Day.
"The increase in gun violence since the debut of 'Jeremy' is staggering," the band said in a statement. "We have released the uncensored version of the video which was unavailable in 1992 with TV censorship laws. We can prevent gun deaths whether mass shootings, deaths of despair, law enforcement, or accidental."
The original "Jeremy" video, which debuted in August 1992 on MTV, helped the "Ten" album go 13 times platinum, and went on to win four MTV Video Music Awards in 1993, including "Video Of The Year."
In 2017, Pellington told Billboard magazine that "Jeremy" still holds up as a piece of art nearly 30 years later. "Absolutely," he said. "It's just one of those things. I can watch it and the song still does it to me. A month ago I was driving around L.A. and I heard the song again and I was like, 'That fucking song is incredible!'
"People don't come up to me and say, 'That P.M. Dawn video stayed with me,'" he laughed. "But if I'm on the street or in the airport strangers will recognize me and say, 'Hey, I love 'Jeremy',' way more than others. It spoke to me then and to everybody who was a kid then, whether they were 5 or 25."
Philipp Koch at DrumTalk has posted unreleased live footage of the Devin Townsend Project performing "Bad Devil" in Frankfurt, Germany in 2014 along with the following message:
"Back in 2014, I had the opportunity to film a Devin Townsend Project show at Batschkapp, Frankfurt in my hometown on my birthday! Here is some of that footage for you to bang and dance to, so ladies and gentlemen -- ENJOY!"
Devin Townsend recently checked in with some new "strange" music. He explains in a new update:
"So, its been a strange week, and I have been writing a lot of strange music. Amidst the more tumultuous stuff thats appeared, I often find it therapeutic for me to just simply play guitar in the mornings, and over the years I've kind of 'developed' (for lack of a better descriptor) a sort of chilled out, ambient guitar technique. This isn't meant to be focused on, it's meant to be a sort of wash that you can play while working, chilling, or creating something (that's my hope at least). I like playing like this, and in fact, I'd say 80% of what I play with a guitar in my hand over the last decade or so ends up sounding something like this.
I had recorded some of it in the background of the podcasts (which I will be continuing) and was asked to post it, but it made more sense to me to do a fresh one here. Lots of people still think I'm secretly the same raging metalhead I was in my mid 20's, but it's been a few decades since I legitimately felt that way, I'd say. This improvisation is one take (with a bathroom break I edited out) and I used a Sadowsky Telecaster and a Fractal AX-8 for the sound. Art for this (and the podcast) are done by my good friend Travis Smith at Seempieces.net.
Hopefully it's helpful to some of you who need a sonic break. Thanks again for the ability to do this. Ill release this in a physical form if theres any interest.
After being forced to postpone the release of their upcoming album Kvitravn to January 22, 2021 due to extenuating circumstances throughout the world, traditional Nordic folk outfit Wardruna decided now was not the time to be silent and headed into the studio to write and record a new song, "Lyfjaberg." The title translates to English as a 'healing-hill' or 'healing-mountain' and is known from Norse mythology and the Eddic poem Fjölsvinnsmál as a place of comfort and cure for the sick and sore who manage to climb the mountain and bear offerings at its shrines. Wardruna filmed a music video for "Lyfjaberg" that was filmed in the mountains of the island Tustna in Norway.
The band shot the video in early May, when suddenly winter decided to return with full strength, and they ended up wading in half a meter of snow for three days and nights. On many levels, the process of making of this video reflected the meaning of the song itself. They all had to climb a few of their inner mountains to get it done.
"The song expresses that climbing a tough mountain, both in reality and metaphorically, is a mental as well as a physical effort," shares founding member and composer Einar Selvik. "I have tried to write this journey up the mountain as one for the mind and spirit as much as the feet and body. Anything of true value, comes at a true cost."
Pre-order options for Kvitravn are available via digital download here. The album is also available on CD and 180-gram 2LP gatefold vinyl (black or ltd. Edition white) here.

KANSAS, America's legendary progressive rock band, has released another the official music video for its song "Jets Overhead", taken from the group's highly anticipated new studio album "The Absence Of Presence", due out June 26 through InsideOut Music.
"'Jets Overhead' has become one of my favorite songs on the album, says KANSAS guitarist Zak Rizvi, who wrote the music for the track. "Tom Brislin wrote some fantastic lyrics, David Ragsdale's violin solo is absolutely smoking, and Ronnie Platt nailed the vocals."
"Jets Overhead" follows the release of "Memories Down The Line", which was released on May 15. In April, KANSAS released the song and music video for "Throwing Mountains".
Billboard.com first announced the new album during an exclusive interview with KANSAS drummer and "The Absence Of Presence" co-producer Phil Ehart.
"The Absence Of Presence" follows-up 2016's "The Prelude Implicit", which debuted at No. 14 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart.
"We are really excited for our fans to be able to get a taste of what is to come from 'The Absence Of Presence'," says Platt. "I think people will really be surprised by the album. 'The Absence Of Presence' shows the band firing on all cylinders."
KANSAS has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, and is famous for classic hits such as "Carry On Wayward Son" and "Dust In The Wind" to the progressive epic "Song For America".
"The Absence Of Presence" features nine all-new tracks written by the band, produced by Zak Rizvi, and co-produced by Phil Ehart and Richard Williams.
KANSAS's signature sound is unmistakable throughout. The album showcases Ronnie Platt's towering vocals, David Ragsdale's searing violin, Tom Brislin's dazzling keyboards, Williams and Rizvi's electrifying guitar riffs, Ehart's powerful drums, and Billy Greer's rocking bass.
"We are really proud of the album 'The Absence Of Presence'," comments KANSAS guitarist, producer, and songwriter Zak Rizvi. "Making a new KANSAS album sets a very high musical standard that is expected from our fans. From rockers, to progressive epics, to ballads, there is something on this recording for everybody."
"The Absence Of Presence" will be available on CD, double LP 180-gram vinyl, limited-edition deluxe CD + 5.1 Blu-ray artbook, and digitally on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and all other streaming services.
Germany’s best export Scorpions have returned with another live video from their set at Hellfest 2015; this time of the Blackout classic, "Dynamite". Check it out below.
Scorpions previously uploaded the Crazy World ballad "Winds Of Change" from Hellfest 2015:
Scorpions have postponed their Las Vegas residency. Promoted by Live Nation and Caesars Entertainment, Scorpions “Sin City Nights” was due to begin Saturday, July 4 at Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. Scorpions were to be joined by special guests Queensrÿche.
Says the band: "Our Vegas Residency at (Planet Hollywood) is postponed, new dates to be announced soon. We want our fans & everybody involved to be safe during these uncertain times. Italy's Lionville have announced the release of their new album, Magic Is Alive, via Frontiers Music Srl on August 7. The fourth album from the band promises to deliver the top-notch melodic rock fans of the band have come to expect.
The first taste of music from the album comes in the form of the single and video, "Nothing Without You". Watch the clip below. Stream "Nothing Without You" and pre-order/save Magic Is Alive here.
Melodic rock/AOR fans have always held Lionville in high regard and Magic Is Alive will do nothing to dissuade them from this line of thinking. Pardon the pun, but a truly ‘magic’-al release, Lionville once again prove why they are one of the leaders of the melodic rock movement.
Lionville was started in 2010 by Stefano Lionetti, a songwriter, singer and guitarist based in Genova, Italy and his brother Alessandro. Thanks to the incredible songs Stefano had managed to write, he got none other than Lars Säfsund (Work Of Art, Enbound) involved as the lead vocalist, which was a true coup for the band.
After two indie releases, in 2017 Lionville finally signed with the Frontiers label, who managed to give the band’s releases larger support and distribution for the band’s third album A World Of Fools. Lionville also appeared live at Frontiers Rock Festival in 2018 and became one of the new highest profile projects dedicated to pure AOR on the entire Frontiers roster.
The new album is certainly going to excite all the melodic rock/AOR lovers out there. With a sound that draws strong influences from classic AOR acts such as Toto, Richard Marx, Giant, Bad English, Survivor and Boulevard, Magic Is Alive shows the winning combination of strong songwriting, stellar musicianship, and of course magnificent lead vocals.

Tallah will release their new album, Matriphagy, on October 2 via Earache Records. Pre-order the album here, and watch a video for the single, "The Silo", below.
An original dose of fucked up and disturbing alt-metal insanity! Exhilaratinghly fresh whilst incorporating nostalgic 90s nu-metal vibes - vocalist Justin Bonitz is a man possessed, wildly careering form blood curdling shrieks to lightning quick rap bars. Throw in electronic elements and almighty riffs plus modern hardcore breakdowns and Tallah are 2020's answer to Slipknot.
Notorious for their wild, unhinged and downright dangerous live shows, Tallah have cultivated a fierce live reputation on the underground circuit with multiple US tours and a European festival trip last summer, including their UK debut at Boomtown Fair opening for Napalm Death and Prophets Of Rage.
Matriphagy is a concept album about how an overprotective mother pushes her son to the edge of insanity through psychological and physical abuse. Having spent two decades trapping inside a glorified prison, and after some failed rescue/escape attempts, the son, in a state of heavy delirium, does the unforgivable to free himself from his mother's wicked hold. A disturbingly graphic tale that is to be taken both literally and metaphorically, Matriphagy is set to a pleasurably harrowing backdrown of brutally heavy musicianship, an unapologetic love-letter to chaos, and the sickening twist of the macabre.
Max Portnoy offers the following insight into the musical direction of the band’s latest single: "'The Silo' is the lightest track on the album, and the first time we've experimented with using more dynamics in our music. This song is a good example of showcasing what else we can do with our sound aside from the raw heaviness displayed in all our other tracks."

US prog metal outfit, Oceans Of Slumber, announce the release of their new and self-titled album, due to be released on September 4 via Century Media Records worldwide. With “A Return To The Earth Below” the band releases the first single taken off of the new record.
Vocalist Cammie Gilbert is checking in with the following comment about the new song: “Within ourselves, just as within our societies there are cycles that need to be broken. Cycles that hold us down, that tear us apart, that give us anguish. Sometimes without warning these cracks surface and they trigger a cascade of emotional vulnerabilities, emotional turmoil, even hopelessness. But at some point we must stop running. Stop running from the pain, stop running from the truth, stop running from ourselves. In the light of this self reflection is where we will find peace, both inwardly and outwardly. A Return To The Earth Below is about that journey. It is about the collision of the heart and mind in struggling to find that internal resolution. We feel that the timing of this single couldn’t be more appropriate, as we have all found ourselves at the crossroads of change.”
Watch the video for “A Return To The Earth Below” below.
“We’d like to thank Giannis Nakos for the beautiful artwork that captures not only our imagination, but the depths and darkness of the story the album holds within. While there’s plenty more to come, we must be patient for the full album that’s set to release September 4th. For now please enjoy 'A Return To The Earth Below',” says Cammie Gilbert.

Rounding out the line-up on the album is Anders Kollerfors on drums. Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Primal Fear, Amaranthe, Pretty Maids, etc.) mixed.
On making the album, Magnus says, "After all hours of songwriting and recording, I sat back and listened to the final mixes and wondered, 'How can I ever top this album?' It has the sound and vibe I've always been searching for. Old and new friends that I admire are singing their hearts out and making the songs better than I ever could have dreamed of! Well, the third Free Fall album is something really special to me and I hope it will be that for you too!"
Of Dino Jelusick, the guest vocalist on first single, "Hold Your Fire", Magnus shares, "I first heard/saw Dino on YouTube and then checked out his band Animal Drive. I was totally knocked out by his amazing voice! He’s got a voice that can be compared with many of the singing legends we adore, but he’s got his own style filled with heart, soul, and tons of power! Crank up 'Hold Your Fire' and get ready to get blown away by the awesome Dino Jelusick!"
Magnus Karlsson is well known as the mastermind behind several Frontiers productions, including the successful initial Allen/Lande trilogy and the recent spin-off album, Allen/Olzon as well as releases by Starbreaker (with Tony Harnell), Bob Catley, and Kiske/Somerville. What happens when you're in quarantine? You watch a LOT of movies!
That's when Chris Laney realized how many fantastic soundtracks there are out there. After an online with Allan Sørensen they decided to contact some friends to ask them to join in for some quarantine fun.
"The Heat Is On" is the next song up, written by Harold Faltermeyer and Keith Forsey and recorded by Glenn Frey for the film Beverly Hill Cop, released in 1984. Check out the clip below.
Canada's Imonolith - featuring members of the Devin Townsend Project and Threat Signal - have checked in with the following update:
"Quarantine can do strange things to the mind. In this week's episode of Riff Lessons, the man known only as Cleavis, Beav's mysterious (and imaginary) guitar tech, takes you through his favorite riff from 'Breathe'!"
To make the most of extra time at home, Imonolith is assembling a Quarantine Sessions video, released every Monday, in sequential order for each of the tracks from their debut album, State Of Being. The band is staying connected with fans, as well, with live Instagram chats each Tuesday.
Drummer Ryan “RVP” Van Poederooyen comments: “Hey everyone, another week, but not just another ‘Quarantine Session’ video. These videos have been a lot of fun for the band to make and believe it or not, we put a ton of effort into each video we release. Every band member shoots video footage in multiple angles, Jon ends up editing all the video footage together and our Social Media team puts the final touches on the whole thing. We hope all you guys have liked them up to date.
This week’s ‘Quarantine Session’ video is for the song ‘Forgone’ off of our debut album, State Of Being. This has been one of the more popular songs outside of the singles we have released for the album. This song is about how the human race can collectively come together world-wide and create a positive environment to live in, or work against each other and create a negative environment that can create war, racism, terrorism, among many other negatives. The question we’re left with is regarding the negative in the world: ‘Is all Forgone?’ If not, how can we collectively better ourselves and our environment? Musically, it’s on the heavier side of things, while maintaining vocal hooks and has subtle touches of prog throughout. It’s a fun song for us to play. We hope you guys dig this video playthrough of it!
Stay safe and healthy out there!”

FIRESPAWN — the Swedish death metal project featuring Lars Göran Petrov (vocals; ENTOMBED) and Victor Brandt (guitar; ENTOMBED), Alex Friberg (bass; NECROPHOBIC), Fredrik Folkare (guitar; UNLEASHED, NECROPHOBIC) and Matte Modin (drums; DARK FUNERAL, DEFLESHED) — will release its third album, "Abominate", on June 7 via Century Media Records.
The official music video for the latest single from the disc, "The Gallows End", can be streamed below.
Brandt says: "It's a great feeling to be able to release the third FIRESPAWN album and to be more pleased with the outcome than you could expect. Everyone's efforts (band, producer, painter, photographer, layout, label) have been above and beyond."
The artwork was once again painted by Paolo Girardi.
Friberg comments: "On this album, we pushed ourselves more then before outside our comfort zone. You will hear a lot more heavy metal influences on this album.
"We never aimed to be a death metal band in the ordinary death metal genre. We make exactly the kind of music that we like and that is more to the extreme side but we always try news things and think outside the box and that is what's so great with FIRESPAWN. Always refreshing great fucking metal! This album is no exception, quite the opposite. On 'Abominate', we explore new ground that not many death metal bands have before. Listen to it and you'll know what I'm talking about."
FIRESPAWN's sophomore album, "The Reprobate", was released in April 2017. The follow-up to 2015's "Shadow Realms" was described in a press release as "a merciless piece of evil, ferocious and blasphemous death metal."
Hailing from Stockholm, FIRESPAWN is the unholy union of five death metal veterans with the aim to create blasphemous, sacrilegious and evil death metal, played by sharp minds with ancient souls.

The official music video for "The Heresy", a new song from Cleveland masked metallers MUSHROOMHEAD, can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's eighth album, "A Wonderful Life", which will be released on June 19 via Napalm Records.
Hair-raisingly dynamic and socially-inclined, "The Heresy" is a melodic, haunting rally cry featuring the stunning lead vocals of Ms. Jackie, which were recorded at the world-famous Abbey Road Studios in London. The new music video sees the band continue their tradition of releasing cinematic music videos of the highest quality, this time taking place inside of a post-apocalyptic bunker. Vocalist J Mann described the track as "the soundtrack to a dystopian delirium, cinematic and surreal!"
MUSHROOMHEAD mastermind and drummer/percussionist Steve "Skinny" Felton says about the video: "We wanted to do something a little more thought-provoking this time around. With the current state of the world going to Hell in a hand basket, we wanted to incorporate something that delivered the swift transportation of certain doom. The manufacturing of war power and the stockpiling of faith. The willful destruction of the past, the future, and ultimately humanity."
For the better part of the past five years, top-charting masked metal machine MUSHROOMHEAD have been crafting the epic follow up to their monumental 2014 full-length album, "The Righteous & The Butterfly" — waiting ever so patiently to drop their next collection of anthems.
Available in several enticing formats, "A Wonderful Life" clocks in at a whopping 70-plus minutes with its four bonus tracks — leaving a total of 17 stellar compositions in its wake for fans to devour. "A Wonderful Life" is accented by the sharp production of Felton, as well as the standout mixing prowess of Matt Wallace (FAITH NO MORE, 3 DOORS DOWN), also recognized for his work on the band's classic offering "XIII".
At its start, an ominous choir invites the listener into "A Wonderful Life" — introductory track "A Requiem For Tomorrow" smoothly shifts into an industrial-metal inspired, grooving punch to the gut juxtaposed with a melodic, synth-laden chorus. This sets the stage for stocky, chant-worthy anthems such as "Seen It All" and hair-raising, politically inclined tracks like "The Heresy" and "Carry On", both featuring the sinister multi-voice attack of new full-time vocalist Ms. Jackie and returning longtime vocalist J Mann, with an extra strike from aforementioned new vocalist Mr. Rauckhorst on the latter. Tracks like "What A Shame", "I Am The One" and "Madness Within" will prove a treat for new and diehard MUSHROOMHEAD fans alike — providing the macabre inspiration followers have come to crave with a weighty dose of galloping drums and bone-rattling guitars, to boot.
"A Wonderful Life" track listing:

The cover art was created by Gus Fink and can be seen below.
MUSHROOMHEAD's upcoming album will be the band's first since the March 2018 departures of longtime vocalist Jeff "Jeffrey Nothing" Hatrix and guitarist Tommy Church.
Felton told the Waterloo, Iowa radio station Rock 108 about the effect of MUSHROOMHEAD's latest lineup changes on the band's songwriting: "It's always cool to do new things with new people and not necessarily know what you're going to get. This will be MUSHROOMHEAD's eighth album, so I definitely don't want it to sound like everyone expects. I'm definitely looking forward to doing more experimenting. The unknown is really cool.
"As we write, we're creating stuff that we've never heard or felt before," he explained. "It's really, really awesome. In the long run, everything always ends up really dark. Everything's always creepy. Everything's always got some sort of sound design element to it that's not your traditional guitar lick or keyboard sound — there's something odd about it. The creepiness is never going to go away."
A quarantine-style music video for the song "Fast Road" from JACK RUSSELL'S GREAT WHITE can be seen below. The clip was created by Jaymz Eberly of Eberly Productions.
"Fast Road" is taken from JACK RUSSELL'S GREAT WHITE's "Once Bitten Acoustic Bytes" acoustic album, which was released on May 1 via Deadline Music, a division of Cleopatra Records, Inc..
"Once Bitten Acoustic Bytes" sees former GREAT WHITE and current JACK RUSSELL'S GREAT WHITE frontman Jack Russell revisiting GREAT WHITE's 1987 multi-platinum masterpiece "Once Bitten" featuring some of their biggest and most recognizable hits, including "Save Your Love" and "Rock Me". Aided by the likes of guitarist Robby Lochner (who also produced and mixed the album), longtime GREAT WHITE bassist Tony Montana (now on guitar), bassist Dan McNay and drummer Dicki Fliszer, these songs have been stripped to their emotional core, spotlighting the intensely passionate story at the heart of each song. Just check out the new version of the unforgettable ballad "Save Your Love", which has been shorn of all rockstar pomp to reveal a heartfelt hymn yearning, love and loss. Or just watch the new video, directed by Vicente Cordero of Industrialism Films (QUEENSRŸCHE, TOM KEIFER), which communicates the song's message powerfully.
Russell explains: "'Once Bitten' is one of my favorite albums that we did. I always wondered what it would sound like done acoustically. The experience recording this unplugged version was really neat. It brought back a lot of memories of the original recording session, things I had forgotten about. Interestingly, the songs that I thought wouldn't translate acoustically like 'Livin' On The Edge' and 'Never Change Heart', the heavier songs, came out the best. Now, I'm looking forward to doing it again for '…Twice Shy'."

JACK RUSSELL'S GREAT WHITE's debut LP, "He Saw It Comin'", was released in January 2017 and featured the singles "Blame It On The Night", "Sign Of The Times" and "Love Don't Live Here".
Russell was fired from GREAT WHITE in December 2011 (after being on hiatus from the group since 2009). He sued his onetime bandmates the following year over their continued use of the GREAT WHITE name after Jack had taken a leave of absence from the band for medical reasons. A short time later, Russell was countersued by Mark Kendall, Michael Lardie and Audie Desbrow, claiming the vocalist's self-destructive behavior was damaging the GREAT WHITE name (they also alleged he was charging promoters less for his own touring version of GREAT WHITE). The parties settled in July 2013 without going to trial, with Russell now performing as JACK RUSSELL'S GREAT WHITE while the others are continuing as GREAT WHITE.

Space Elevator have checked in with a new lockdown cover video:
"To give hope in these difficult times, we have recorded a cover of the classic Peter Gabriel / Kate Bush track "Don’t Give Up". The track features Damien Edwards on vocals who along with The Duchess, creates our backing vocal harmonies on our albums. It also features Michael Bramwell on piano who played keyboards on our latest album, Space Elevator II. Stay safe people, wash those hands and don’t forget to social distance!"
Below is a light hearted video released in April featuring Space Elevator performing a cover of The Police song, “Don’t Stand So Close To Me”. The video was filmed and recorded on mobile phones while the band were socially distancing from each other in the UK.
Says the band: "Stay safe people, wash those hands and don’t forget to social distance!!!!!"
