DEEP PURPLE - Rare 1969 Live Footage From Bilzen Jazz Festival In Belgium Posted

The clip below features Deep Purple performing live in Belgium on August 22nd, 1969 at the Bilzen Jazz Festival. The band performed on the second day, Pop And Beat, of the four day festival. This 25-minute edit of Purple's performance on 16mm film was recorded by Belgian TV.

Interestingly, being one of the first recordings of the then new Mark 2 line up of the band, the recording includes only instrumentals and instrumental passages - "Wring That Neck", "Paint It Black" and "Mandrake Root".

Deep Purple will release their 21st studio album, Whoosh! on August 7th via earMusic. Whoosh! will be available as a Standard CD, a Digital Album, a Limited Edition CD+DVD Mediabook (including the 1 hour feature “Roger Glover And Bob Ezrin In Conversation” and, for the first time, the full live performance at Hellfest 2017 video), and a Vinyl 2LP+DVD edition (earMUSIC). Pre-order here.

Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Ian Paice, Steve Morse, and Don Airey were invited by Bob Ezrin to Nashville to write and record, during which the band were inspired to push their creative boundaries. Letting go of any artistic limitations, they adopted the motto “Deep Purple is putting the Deep back in Purple”. Whoosh! embodies that freedom, with lyrics that reflect their sentiments on the current situation of the world.

“We’ve included everything that made the whole band smile, including Bob Ezrin,” exclaims Morse. “We’ve always enjoyed making music and having the incredible luxury of a loyal audience.”

Whoosh! marks Deep Purple’s third album produced by Ezrin (Alice Cooper, Pink Floyd). The first - 2013’s Now What?! - charted at #1 in five European countries, as well as Top 10 in over 15 countries worldwide. Cementing itself as one of their most successful albums, inFinite, released in 2017, broke chart records the band accumulated over their 50+year history. With chemistry this electric, it only made sense for Deep Purple and Ezrin to collaborate a third time.

“Another album?! Whoosh?!! Gordon Bennett!!!” -Ian Gillan

One of the most important rock bands of all time, Deep Purple has built a legacy that is nothing short of immeasurable. The band continues to evolve and elevate the possibilities within hard rock, which is fully displayed on Whoosh!

“When the Deep Purple falls
Over sleepy garden walls
And the stars begin to twinkle
In the night…” - Ian Gillan

TOKYO MOTOR FIST Featuring DANGER DANGER, TRIXTER Members To Release Lions Album In July; "Youngblood" Music Video Streaming

Tokyo Motor Fist’s self-titled debut scratched an itch for music fans who have been starving for new albums from Trixter or Danger Danger (and who also happen to love Def Leppard) and now the band delivers another fix with their sophomore album, Lions. Once again, the band delivers exactly what fans want and would expect with their catchy and uplifting hard rock. A video for the first single, "Youngblood", can be found below.

Stream the new single and pre-order the album, including t-shirt bundles in the US store, here.

On the making of the new album, Steve Brown says, “From day one when I put together Tokyo Motor Fist, I knew that this was a genuine rock group, not a fake cash grab project, a so-called super-group or imaginary band that makes one record and never plays live... TMF is the REAL DEAL! Our debut release proved that, our live shows cemented that fact, and the worldwide response and success to the debut was so overwhelming that a follow-up record was a sure thing. Here we present you with Lions... next level stuff for the band, as you will hear. It’s a great feeling after 30 years of making records to be at the top of my game as a writer, singer, player, and producer. So proud of my band... Ted, Chuck and Greg all delivered incredible performances and took my songs to a higher ground. I brought in my rock 'n roll brother, the great Bruno Ravel, to mix Lions. He is without a doubt one of the most talented all around musicians/producers I know. His expertise and ears took this album over the top. It was mastered by Maor Appelbaum, who did a fantastic job. It sounds brilliant! Lastly, we are on the best label in the business, Frontiers Records! My friend, Serafino Perugino allowed TMF the extra time and the support needed to make the record of our dreams. I can’t wait for you all hear this... Lions is the positive & feel good record the world needs right now... It’s gonna Blow Your Mind!!!”

Ted Poley adds, “Couldn’t be prouder to be a part of such an amazing band! The new album is absolutely stunning! Steve Brown‘s songwriting has hit a new high. Lions contains some of my favorite songs that I have ever sung on in my career. The TMF rhythm section of Chuck and Greg are an unstoppable dream team. This record should come with a warning label because you will be singing along with it for days! The hooks just keep coming! And we hope that you will too!”

"Our new album Lions  is by far and away the BEST album I've ever had the pleasure to play on! Each and every song is outstanding and this new record reaches new sonic and songwriting heights yet achieved in my career!! A-a-a-a-and you can quote me on this!!!!" adds Chuck Burgi.

"I absolutely loved our first album, but this one is a game changer for this band! The songs, playing, and soul of this group are definitely captured on this record. It was an absolute pleasure to be there when the legendary Dennis DeYoung recorded his cameo on the album's namesake tune, Lions. He took an already great song to the next level. I can’t wait to perform these tunes with my TMF brothers in the hopefully near future! I hope you all enjoy this album as much as I did playing on it!," says bassist Greg Smith.

The album's title track features a guest keyboard solo by none other than rock legend Dennis DeYoung and a guest saxophone spot from Mark Rivera (Billy Joel, Ringo Starr) on "Sedona".

Written and produced by Steve Brown, Lions was mixed by Bruno Ravel (Danger Danger, The Defiants) and mixed by Maor Applebaum (Faith No More, Yes, Dokken).

You don’t need to be a die-hard '80s/’90s hard rock fan to know that the fruits of an artistic alliance between Danger Danger singer Ted Poley and guitarist/producer Steve Brown of Trixter was going to make melodic rock fans rejoice! Featuring Ted Poley (vocals), Steve Brown (guitar), Greg Smith (bass), and Chuck Burgi (drums), Tokyo Motor Fist was birthed out of Ted and Steve’s long standing friendship. They were playing the same club circuit with their respective bands, Danger Danger and Trixter, when both bands were starting their careers. Over the years, they had a great personal relationship and the idea of doing a record together has been in the cards for many years. With some help from Frontiers the concept became a reality. Rounded out by Greg Smith (Ted Nugent, Rainbow, Alice Cooper) and Chuck Burgi (Rainbow, Blue Oyster Cult, Bon Jovi) on bass and drums, respectively, TMF’s self-titled debut was met with the high praise and enthusiasm one would expect from fans of the genre. The fact that the music delivered was even better than what it looked like on paper has had fans clamoring for a follow-up. And now, with Lions on the way, those fans have much to look forward to!

TMF anticipates hitting the road in support of the album once the world is back up and running.

Tracklisting:

"Youngblood"
"Monster In Me"
"Around Midnight"
"Mean It"

"Decadence On 10th Street"
"Dream Your Heart Out"
"Blow Your Mind"

Former GUNS N' ROSES / VELVET REVOLVER Drummer MATT SORUM Posts Video Tour Of Home Studio

Guesting on Brazil's Dois Da Tarde radio show, former Guns N' Roses drummer Matt Sorum  gave a video tour of his Drac Studios. Check out the clip below.

Sorum recorded his solo album at Drac Studios as well as tracking several Velvet Revolver recordings. Artists that have recorded at Drac Studios include Lemmy, Billy Idol, Cherie Currie, Stevie Salas, Corey Taylor, Kenny wayne Shepard, and Macy Gray to name a few.

For information on Drac Studios go to the official website here.

Sorum was originally scheduled to release his autobiography, Double Talkin' Jive: True Rock 'N' Roll Stories From The Drummer Of Guns N' Roses, The Cult, And Velvet Revolver, on April 7th, 2020 via Chicago Review Press. That date was pushed back three months to July 7th, 2020. Guesting on the April 13th installment of In A Lonely Place With Matt Pinfield, Sorum revealed it will be released "in late summer or early fall" but didn't give specifics for the delay.

The official book description reads as follows:

Cocaine smuggling, shoot-outs, and never-ending decadent parties: Matt Sorum's 'Double Talkin' Jive' could almost be described as the autobiographical equivalent of the film, Blow. But rather than becoming a premier drug smugglers, Matt Sorum becomes a world-famous drummer in Guns N' Roses, Velvet Revolver and The Cult. Sorum drops out of high school to become a drummer, but turns to selling pot to support himself, and later smuggling large quantities of cocaine. When Sorum is given the chance to play in The Cult, he is finally able to make a living as a drummer. The very next year, Slash and Duff McKagan recruit Matt to join Guns N' Roses, and with that, Matt's life is transformed.

When Axl Rose starts turning up at the recording studio more and more sporadically, sometimes not at all, Matt recounts in keen detail how he and the band stagger toward their downfall. Matt and his Guns N' Roses bandmates Slash and Duff form Velvet Revolver with Dave Kushner and Scott Weiland. When Weiland suddenly leaves the band, Matt steps in as drummer for Motörhead during their U.S. tour, and then starts his own all-star band, Kings Of Chaos.

During his time as a professional drummer, Matt battles alcohol and coke addictions, but meeting his girlfriend, Ace Harper, helps him manage to go clean. Matt Sorum's autobiography, written with writer duo Leif Eriksson and Martin Svensson, avoids all the usual rock biography clichés.

The book will be released in four formats - Cloth, EPUB, Mobipocket, PDF Cloth - and can be pre-ordered here.

FROZEN CROWN - Live Quarantine Q&A With The Fans And Acoustic Set Posted

Frozen Crown vocalist Giada Jade Etro and guitarist / vocalist Federico Mondelli have posted another self-isolation video, from May 9th, via Facebook. They answer questions from the fans and perform another live acoustic set. Check it out below.

Frozen Crown issued the following update in the wake of their recent European tour supporting Dragonforce:

"So, the tour came to an end, and along with it ends the best experience we had as a band so far. We're extremely grateful with Dragonforce for bringing us with them as special guests, and most importantly, for sharing with us a lot more than a headlining band is supposed to, treating us as brothers and sisters.

This awesome journey taught us a lot from both a musical and a human perspective, fortified our bond and gave us a stronger perception of ourselves as a band. We feel extremely sad right now, but we're sure we will make a treasure out of this experience, and that this conclusion will be the beginning of something else.

Many, many thanks to the Dragonforce guys and to the crew, to Athanasia, and to everyone involved in this awesome tour, including every single crowd we had the chance to perform in front of, that just blew us away with their overwhelming enthusiasm and support.

See you on the road soon!"

Check out fan-filmed video from the tour below.

M.I.GOD. - Live Set From Coronavirus Lockdown Posted (Video)

German progressive metallers M.I.GOD. have posted a short lockdown performance from a place where no band has gone before. Check it out below.

M.I.GOD. recently wrapped a short support tour with A Life Divided. Fan-filmed video from the tour, which includes a live cover of the Duran Duran classic "Ordinary World" is available below.

Speaking with BraveWords, vocalist / founder Max Chemnitz discussed being labelled progressive metal, Savatage’s Streets album, and Queensrÿche’s Operation: Mindcrime.

On M.I.GOD. being labelled progressive metal:

"It doesn't bother me, but I don't like categorizing a band's sound. It has turned into a real problem. You can say 'Specters On Parade is old school thrash metal...' and there are some typical characteristics of that sound that we do not have, so we are not old school thrash metal. I think M.I.GOD. is a mix of everything, so the sound of the band isn't easily put into a box."

On Queensrÿche’s critically acclaimed epic, Operation: Mindcrime:

"It came out in 1988 when metal fans like me and you went to the record store, and I bought it without hearing a note from it because I love Rage For Order. I put it on the record player and that intro.... man, cool and creepy (laughs). And as the album played it was almost like too much information. There was so much to process, I didn't get it the first time. My ears weren't that well educated yet (laughs). I got into Queensrÿche when they put out Rage For Order, not The Warning like everyone else. It honestly took five or six years for my mind to be open enough for Operation: Mindcrime, where it was at a point where I loved it as much and knew it as well as Rage For Order."

On the Specters On Parade outro ("Terminus Life") being inspired by the "I remember now" outro on Queensrÿche’s  "Eyes Of A Stranger":

"Well.... yeah (laughs). I can't deny that."

On Savatage's classic concept album, Streets:

"I was a big fan of Savatage when they were active and I bought every record. I'm a huge fan of the Gutter Ballet album. Street is a really cool concept album, the songs are great, but the production is terrible. I hate the production of that record because it sounds so flat. They should really remaster it or do it again."

ICE NINE KILLS Release "Jason's Mom"; A Horror Themed Parody of "Stacy's Mom"

During the mammoth #FearlessAtHome live stream event that took place yesterday, horror themed theatricore outfit, Ice Nine Kills celebrated the 40th Anniversary of classic horror movie, Friday The 13th, with the debut of "Jason's Mom" - a very special, acoustic parody in honor of one of the deadliest matriarchs in movie history, just in time for Mother's Day. They dedicated the performance to Adam Schlesinger whose genius song writing and smash hit, "Stacy's Mom", provided the inspiration for the song.

Speaking on their re-imagining of the Fountains Of Wayne classic track and the 40th Anniversary of Friday The 13th, INK frontman, Spencer Charnas says, "Today marks the 40th Anniversary of Friday The 13th and with Sunday being Mother's Day, we thought this acoustic cover would be the perfect way to celebrate. We want to dedicate this to the memory of the inspirational songwriter Adam Schlesinger, who co-wrote this amazing and enduring pop song for Fountains Of Wayne. We hope all the Moms out there have a truly killer Mother's Day."

Ice Nine Kills also payed homage to Friday The 13th with this month's Nightmare On The Ninth merch drop. The Mommy Knows Best Collection celebrates 40 years of Friday and is available for a limited time from NightmareOnTheNinth.com.

The movie was also the inspirtation for their track "Thank God It's Friday". Taken from their 2018 opus, The Silver Scream, the track has clocked up 2 million YouTube views and 9.6 million streams on Spotify since it's release.

MIKE PORTNOY Covers "I Wanna Stay Home" By JELLYFISH With His Daughter, ROGER JOSEPH MANNING JR And JASON FALKNER In New Video

"I hope you all tuned in and enjoyed yesterday’s Prog From Home concert from The Prog Report," says drummer Mike Portnoy (Sons Of Apollo, The Winery Dogs, Dream Theater).

"My contribution was absolutely a bucket list collaboration for me as I’ve always wanted to do something with both Roger Joseph Manning Jr and Jason Falkner.

For those of you that don’t know, they were two of the members of Jellyfish... one of my favorite bands ever and IMHO both of their albums (Bellybutton and Spilt Milk) are absolute masterpieces (The latter being in my Top 10 of ALL TIME).

If you’re not already a fan, it’s never too late to discover such amazing music (I’m jealous to be able to experience those album for a first time!) and if you ARE already a fan, these are great times for us fans as Roger has teamed back up with Jellyfish members Eric Dover and Tim Smith with a brand new band and release with The Lickerish Quartet coming out THIS FRIDAY!

The other amazing aspect of this video is getting to sing a duet with my incredibly talented daughter Melody! This is actually the 2nd recorded singing duet between us (but 1st to be released) as we also sang together on the upcoming Morse Portnoy George album Cov3r To Cov3r doing Ringo’s 'It Don’t Come Easy' (video for that also coming soon).

In any case, I hope you enjoy this as much as I did making it!"

ASKING ALEXANDRIA Releases Lockdown Video For New Song 'House On Fire'

Ahead of the release of their highly anticipated sixth studio album, "Like A House On Fire", this Friday (May 15 on Sumerian Records), British rockers ASKING ALEXANDRIA have dropped the new track, "House On Fire", with an accompanying music video shot whilst the band are on lockdown.

"House On Fire" is the fifth track to be released from the upcoming LP. It was preceded by "The Violence", "They Don't Want What We Want", "Antisocialist" and "Down To Hell", which combined have hit a massive 25.4 million streams on Spotify and 5.5 million views on YouTube.

ASKING ALEXANDRIA also celebrated its fifth Top 10 hit at Active Rock Radio this week as "Antisocialist" hit #10 on the charts. It was one of the the fastest growing singles at Active Rock radio in the U.S. for four straight weeks and has hit Top 10 in just nine weeks, making it the band's fastest Top 10-charting single of its career. It adds to their enormously impressive run of what is now nine consecutive Top 20 hits at Active Rock radio and has already clocked up 2.8 million streams on Spotify and 2.1 million views on YouTube to date.

"Like A House On Fire" was once again recorded by producer Matt Good (HOLLYWOOD UNDEAD, FROM FIRST TO LAST), who also helmed 2017's self-titled effort. The disc was recorded throughout 2019 in between a high-profile arena tour supporting SHINEDOWN and a direct support slot on the road with PAPA ROACH. NIGHT DEMON Release "Empires Fall" Bass Playthrough Video

Night Demon have released a bass playthrough for their single "Empires Fall". Watch the clip, featuring Night Demon bass guitarist Jarvis Leatherby, below.

The hard-hitting, take-no-prisoners track chronicling the demise of the record industry was released worldwide via Century Media Records in early April and was mixed by Josh Newell & mastered by Brad Boatright. Punk legends, Lars Fredrickson and Matt Freeman of Rancid, as well as James Paul Luna of Holy Grail also contributed background vocals to the track.

Watch the lyric video for "Empires Fall" below and purchase the single on all streaming platforms and as a 7" vinyl, which includes a cover version of Le Griffe's "Fast Bikes" on the B-side, here.

Night Demon recently announced the worldwide release of their new single, "Kill The Pain". Go behind the song for an in-depth look at the making of "Kill The Pain" in this new video:

“Kill The Pain” marks the band’s second single release of spring 2020, following hot on the heels of the scorching "Empires Fall".

Night Demon fulfilled a lifelong dream by recording this single at Sweet Silence Studios in Copenhagen, Denmark under the watchful eye of famed producer Flemming Rasmussen. Of course, Rasmussen has left an indelible mark on heavy metal history through his work on Metallica’s Ride The Lightning, Master Of Puppets, and …And Justice For All albums, among many others.

“Kill The Pain” is a tough-as-nails bruiser of a song that showcases Night Demon’s signature sound, a revved-up modernized take on classic British and American metal. Lyrically, however, the track marks a thematic departure by delving into serious, deeply personal subject matter. It tackles the heavy topic of suicide, forged in the pain of life experiences but with an inspiring message of hope and perseverance through adversity.

The B-side of "Kill The Pain" is a blistering cover of Cirith Ungol’s “100 mph”, with Night Demon’s Jarvis Leatherby and Cirith Ungol’s Tim Baker sharing lead vocal duties. Given the brotherhood between these two Ventura-based bands, and their years of traveling and performing together, “100 mph” marks a special collaboration as they join forces to breathe new life and power into this oft-overlooked gem from the One Foot in Hell album.

Check out a lyric video for "Kill The Pain" below.

The single is available as:

- Red 7inch (ltd. to 300) – Band Shop via Kingsroad (US & EU)
- White 7inch (ltd. to 200) – Century Media US Online Shop (100)
- White 7inch (ltd. to 200) – High Roller Records (Germany) (100)

Order here.

Night Demon is:

Jarvis Leatherby - Vocals, Bass
Armand John Anthony - Guitars
Dusty Squires - Drums

BON JOVI - Uncut HQ Video Footage Of 2018 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony Streaming

Featuring an introduction by keyboardist David Bryan, the video below features Bon Jovi's 2018 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony, in full and uncut.

Bon Jovi 2020, the new album from Bon Jovi, was scheduled for release on May 15. But Jon Bon Jovi revealed to Zane Lowe of Apple Music's Beats 1 that the album will be delayed until fall.

Speaking about the band's cancelled US tour and album delay, Jon states (see video below): "Bon Jovi has cancelled their forthcoming tour. We've canceled it, it's not postponed. And so people are gonna be able to get refunds. And the reason that we canceled instead of postponing it for a year, was because I was very aware that folks are gonna need that money, and that that money's gonna help with rent or groceries and credit card bills, and in this time of uncertainty we just wanted folks to know that they were there for us for these three-plus decades, we're there for them. We'll be back when it's okay to be back. So with that said, the album is delayed until the fall. I'm disappointed... especially disappointed, because the record is so great."

Pe-order the 2020 album here.

Jon Bon Jovi on the album’s title: “The meaning behind it - there’s the obvious. It’s an election year, and I couldn’t do any worse. And I also have clear vision. This House Is Not For Sale dealt with a lot of personal matters, and now it’s behind us. So, 2020 - of course, it’s an election year, but more importantly, it’s that I have clear vision going forward.”

"Brothers In Arms"
"Story Of Love"

PRISTINE Releases Fireball Digital EP

Norwegian rock band Pristine has announced the release of their new digital EP Fireball.

The band states, "We are very happy to announce the release of our EP this spring! In these challenging and strange times we felt the need to reflect on humanity and what makes us who we are. The beautiful cover art is designed by the Norwegian artist Christian Muri Clemetsen. Christian created the cover art from a series of old movie posters that were cut into long strips and woven together into a new motif. A very descriptive representation of the diverse human being, full of fragments and colours. Thank you so much for the support and hope to see you on the road again very very soon! Take care of each other, and stay safe! Love, Pristine”

In celebration of the EP, the band offer fans a music video for the title track "Fireball".

Pristine continues, "Pristine's newest release Fireball is a story about the close relation between love and loss. It’s an elegy of the part you once played, in a world you took for granted, when what you used to know suddenly is fragmented and senseless because you have lost someone.”

The release of the Fireball EP surfaces in an unexpected time from the Norwegian rock band Pristine. When the world has closed down because of the COVID-19 virus and this pandemic has reached every border, creating confusion and changes that we never would have imagined only a few months ago, Pristine wanted to press the pause button and reflect around who we are. This digital EP release is perhaps the most untypical release from the Norwegian rock band and consists of three songs.

Download and stream the EP here.

DED Releases Music Video For 'A Mannequin Idol (Lullaby)'

Fast-rising rockers DED have released a high-octane music video for their latest radio single, "A Mannequin Idol (Lullaby)". The clip was directed by renowned director Marc Klasfeld, who has previously worked with SLIPKNOT, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, FOO FIGHTERS and HIGHLY SUSPECT, among others.

Displaying DED's bold and dynamic songcraft, "A Mannequin Idol (Lullaby)" was produced by powerhouse rock producer Kevin Churko (FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, OZZY OSBOURNE, DISTURBED), who helmed DED's entire forthcoming sophomore studio album, due out later this year on Suretone Records. The roaring single, which is quickly climbing the Active Rock radio chart with key playlist support across streaming services, questions what we consume and what we choose to support, taking on the fake, surface level, vein aspects of our society that infiltrate our lives and influence our perception of what's real.

The new video follows the release of DED's micro EP "Mannequin Eyes", featuring "A Mannequin Idol (Lullaby)" and the ripper "Eyes Sewn Shut". Swelling into a wall of soaring guitars and driving percussion, the track dares us to wake up and challenge the things that we so readily accept to be true.

DED — Joe Cotela (vocals), David Ludlow (guitar), Kyle Koelsch (bass) and Matt Reinhard (drums) — may appear to be nihilistic, hellraising anarchists upon first glance, but they're here to uplift, empower and contribute something positive to society. During this challenging time of quarantine and isolation as the world responds to the COVID-19 pandemic, DED's message of hope, self-care, the importance of looking after one another, and being aware of how our behaviors affect not only our own mental health but each other, is needed now more than ever.

DED's new music takes on the fury of their debut and deepens the emotions with a compassion for humanity and a thought-provoking consciousness that we can all be and do better, not only for ourselves but each other. After taking the rock world by storm with their 2017 debut album "Mis-An-Thrope", which spawned two Top 20 rock radio singles, DED toured with KORN, IN THIS MOMENT and STONE SOUR, and lit up festival stages, including Aftershock, Louder Than Life, Rocklahoma, Carolina Rebellion, Rock On The Range and ShipRocked. Quickly becoming one of rock's most exciting torchbearers, DED embodies elements of rock, alternative and metal, with pop melodies, cloaked in some of the most histrionic, headbanging music on the planet. But when you dig beneath the surface, DED's unexpectedly soulful music is building a community by offering comfort in times of despair, clarity through suffering, and positivity by exposing negativity, proving that there's a way to live through the struggle and come out stronger, happier and more united on the other side.

DED's forthcoming album will be the first release under Suretone Records' renewed multiple-year deal with ADA Worldwide for exclusive distribution.

DED is managed by Jordan Schur for Suretone Entertainment.
