QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE's video for the song "Head Like A Haunted House" can be seen below. Directed by frequent collaborator Liam Lynch, the clip is a ghastly animated carnival ride through your worst fever-induced nightmares. Accompanied by disembodied hands, UFOs, smoldering hellscapes and grooving skeletons, Joshua Homme leads the way as he and his pack of mischief-makers sail through the nighttime sky on what else but flying coffins.
After a triumphant South American jaunt with brothers in arms FOO FIGHTERS, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE will make their return to the U.S. later this month with stops including Austin (Austin360 Amphitheater) and Irving (The Pavillion at the Irving Music Factory) as well as Miami's Bayfront Park Amphitheater, but not before kicking it all off with two sold-out nights at San Diego's Observatory North Park.
In addition to the slew of upcoming North American and European dates, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE will be headlining this summer at London's Finsbury Park on June 30 — and they're bringing friends. The band has curated a special lineup with guests including Iggy Pop, RUN THE JEWELS, THE HIVES, Brody Dalle, and more.
QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE are touring in support of their seventh studio album, "Villains", which was released last August via Matador Records. The LP debuted at No. 1 in the U.K., Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Switzerland and Portugal, No. 2 in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Finland, Norway and Ireland, No. 3 on the Billboard 200, No. 4 on Japan's international chart and No. 5 in Italy.

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE are Joshua Homme, Troy Van Leeuwen, Dean Fertita, Michael Shuman and Jon Theodore.
Three teenagers, known as Alien Weaponry, from a tiny town in the small South Pacific nation of New Zealand have managed to capture the imaginations of people all over the world with their unique thrash metal sound and commanding live performances. This in itself is surprising, but perhaps the most unexpected element of all in their success is that many of the band's songs are delivered in a language that is unknown to international audiences - New Zealand's native language, Te Reo Māori.
Now, Alien Weaponry are ready to release their furious debut album Tu on the world. Short for 'Tumatauenga', the Māori god of war, Tu also means to stand strong and proud, and to stand for something. The notion is reflected in the album artwork, which includes the tradtional moko kanohi (facial tattoos) of the Māori warrior.
Standing for something important is something the band does equally well in English or in Māori. Today, Napalm Records releases the single and video for the song "Holding My Breath" - the first single so far to be sung entirely in English. Watch the clip below.
The song was written by Lewis (vocals, guitar). In it, he talks about the anxiety of being judged and socially ostracized by peers to the point of being unable to function.
"It's about something that actually happened to me. I felt so bad that I literally stayed in my room and couldn't bring myself to leave the house or talk to anyone," he says. "I wrote the song at that time, and it was one of the things that helped me work through it, so I hope it will resonate with other people going through similar things."
One of the people it has already resonated with is actress Rose van Wylich, featured in the video; who experienced similar feelings of isolation as a teenager.
"Holding My Breath" is the first single put out by Napalm Records in advance of Alien Weaponry's debut album Tu, being released on June 1st. A month later, the band will head to Europe for a 3-month tour which includes the world's biggest metal festival, Wacken Open Air.
Tu is available in the following formats:
- 1 CD Digipack & 2 Bonus Tracks
- LP Gatefold & 7" Single (2 Bonus Tracks)

Critical Mess are dedicated, skilled and ambitious death metal newcomers from Hanover, Germany. The 5-piece only has one goal in mind: conquering the stages across the globe, bringing extreme music to every corner of the planet.
Critical Mess will release their new album Human Prey on CD and digitally on March 30th via Metalville Records. Pre-order here. A video for the track "Feasting" can be found below.
Founded in February 2012, the band had undergone many changes in line-up and writing styles. In 2016, the current lineup had established itself and quickly found its own unique sound and style. Whilst doing so, they managed to stay true to the familiar and beloved sound of old school death metal that they had all grown up with and the name Critical Mess was born.
Featuring ex-Cripper vocalist Britta Görtz, the group shows that they have remained faithful to the old-school death metal with which they grew up and define their clear goal: to conquer the stages of the world.
Tracklisting:
"Bringer Of All End"
"Feasting"
"Preacher Of Lies"
"Gluttony"
"Creation Of Abomination"
"Pansperm"
"On Rotten Grounds"
"Into Oblivion"
"Paradoxal Praradigm Of Perception"
"Repent"
Los Angeles rockers BLACK VEIL BRIDES have released the official music video for the song "When They Call My Name". The track is taken from the band's fifth album, "Vale", which was released on January 12 via Lava/Universal Republic. The follow-up to BLACK VEIL BRIDES' 2014 self-titled effort was produced by John Feldmann at his Southern California studio.
BLACK VEIL BRIDES vocalist Andy Biersack told Kerrang! magazine about "When They Call My Name": "This is a song that's really dear to me. It's about dealing with my anxiety and having my wife helping me to do that and helping me through these scenarios. On this album, I found myself writing more and more honestly and openly about different sorts of issues."
Biersack told HMV.com that the decision to work with Feldmann again was an easy one. "John is one of my best friends and there's no argument about what impact he's had on us," he said. "He produced the record that's done the most for us and it felt really comfortable, especially as we were going back to the story of Wretched and Divine, so it seemed logical to go back to John."
Regarding the making of "Vale", the singer told AltPress: "I think [the record is] an accurate description of how I handle things artistically. Anytime I've had any real struggle in my life that I've been involved in, whether it's a more personal or societal thing, I tend to want to write a story about it. 'Wretched And Divine' was a response to that feeling of being a schtick band that for five and a half years, people considered an afterthought, as well as the amount of criticism that we faced. That faded into this weird, dreamy, ethereal concept record. My emotional stimulus to societal issues is to write a story, something that is a bit more narrative-driven and not so punch-you-in-the-head. It's probably a reflection of my personality, anyway. Unless I'm inebriated, I'm not really yelling at people. [Laughs] To me, a song like 'Dead Man Walking' is very aggressive, but it's more about content and less about the guitar crunch."

Swedish quartet TRIBULATION has released a performance video for "Lady Death", filmed and recorded earlier this year at Turbinenhalle in Oberhausen, Germany during the band's tour with ARCH ENEMY, WINTERSUN and JINJER. The footage was filmed and edited by Dirk Behlau of Beastwood Films and was recorded live with no overdubs or re-recordings.
"Lady Death" is taken from TRIBULATION's latest album, "Down Below", which was released on January 26 via Century Media Records. The follow-up to the critically acclaimed 2015 release "The Children Of The Night" features artwork crafted by TRIBULATION guitarist Jonathan Hultén.
Guitarist Adam Zaars told Distorted Sound about the making of "Down Below": "In TRIBULATION, the writing of the songs has primarily been done by me and Jonathan [Andersson, vocals], and that was the case this time as well. I think we both 'always' write music in a way; it doesn't really stop at any time even though it fluctuates. What I mean by this is that the seeds of the songs, be it riffs or melodies or just ideas of some kind or another, are being collected by us at any time. The seeds for these songs mostly come from this past touring cycle, and a couple of Jonathan's songs already had a lot of meat on their bones over a year ago. The intense part of the composing, the puzzling together of the bits and pieces, started in the early months of [2017], specifically in April for me. Jonathan worked mostly on his own, making demos at home and sending them to us for feedback, and then he would change something or other because of that and we would get to hear it again, and so on. I have mostly written the music on my own in the past as well, but because of various things, I wanted the help of Johannes and Oscar [Leander, drums] this time. I personally suck when it comes to musical software of any kind and Oscar could help me with that, and the fact that they are both drummers really helped that part as well. It was also nice to get their personal input right away! We actually intentionally left a lot of the songs unfinished in order to have Martin Ehrencrona's, our producer, take on it as well, which proved to be very valuable. We started the recording of the album in the beginning of August in Soundtrade Studios for the drums and went from there to Martin's Studio Cobra and stayed there till October. We wanted to go there because we had been there for a few days for the recording of all the 'additional instruments' on 'The Children Of The Night' and really liked it there. It's kind of being like a kid in a toy store because of all the cool instruments that currently call that studio their home."

The official music video for the song "Trust" from WE SELL THE DEAD can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's debut album, "Heaven Doesn't Want You And Hell Is Full", which was released on February 23 via earMUSIC.
Revolving around Niclas Engelin (IN FLAMES, ENGEL), DRÖMRIKET's Jonas Slättung, Gas Lipstick (former HIM drummer) and the voice of Apollo Papathanasio (SPIRITUAL BEGGARS, FIREWIND), WE SELL THE DEAD goes beyond the strains of conventional storytelling and creates a multi-media experience of premium-quality heavy metal music embedded in visually stimulating and atmospheric visuals.
Engelin told Dead Rhetoric about WE SELL THE DEAD's musical and lyrical approach: "This is a band of friends and musicians who want to do something different and dare to do so. It was the main priority to do something different coming from us and to turn some heads with our songs. We basically do what we love and we feel so fortunate to not have any boundaries or secret map. We just follow our hearts and try to do the best songs we can do and have tons of fun doing it."
He added: "I really wanted to something different and paint with bigger colors and take my time before the chorus kicks in. I just love the Tony Martin era of BLACK SABBATH and MAGNUM's 'On A Storyteller's Night'. I always wanted to try to outdo myself by writing that kind of music with my own way of writing, of course."

Regarding WE SELL THE DEAD's future plans, Engelin said: "We would like to take the band in a live environment and try to do something similar to the album’s theme, but we have to find out how to do it first. We are making our first appearance at our release February 23 in Gothenburg and we will just go from there. We have some ideas how to do this. We have already mapped some ideas for the next album and I have been writing some epic and big stuff lately which the guys are putting their magic to as we speak, so we are in the flow."

Earthless have released a video for "Volt Rush", featured on their new full-length album Black Heaven, out now via Nuclear Blast.
The video, which is set in Earthless’ hometown of San Diego, as well as neighbouring Oceanside, was directed by skateboard/visual artist BB Bastidas and features the famed SoCal skateboarder T-Spliff (aka Taylor Smith).
“Stoked to present to you the very first Earthless video, directed by artist BB Bastidas,” said drummer Mario Rubalcaba. We were stoked to work with BB on this as he knows our background as a band and our close roots with skateboarding. His art is amazing and he also has a keen natural eye for film. Having Taylor Smith, aka T-Spliff, in it just makes it even sweeter. He is somewhat of a mythical figure of a skater, an amazing talent but chooses to shred at his own discretion. Those who know, know. This was a blast to be a part of and we hope you enjoy this short high energy rocker that cruises around our hometown of San Diego, and local club, The Casbah.”
Black Heaven was recorded at Rancho de la Luna in Joshua Tree, CA with Dave Catching (Eagles Of Death Metal) handling production. Order here.
Black Heaven tracklisting:
"Gifted By The Wind"
"End To End"
"Electric Flame"
"Volt Rush"

Rivers Of Nihil have released a video for "A Home", from their third full-length, Where Owls Know My Name, out now via Metal Blade Records. Order the album at MetalBlade.com and watch the new clip below.
Rivers of Nihil comments: "Once again we have partnered up with the legendary Dave Brodsky and the rest of the fine folks at MyGoodEye Visuals to bring you this video for 'A Home' from our new record Where Owls Know My Name, out today! This video was shot in our hometown of Reading, Pennsylvania, so going along with the song title this video feels very much at home for us. Catch us out on tour for the next five weeks across the US and Canada with Dying Fetus, Thy Art is Murder, Enterprise Earth, and Sanction!"
Where Owls Know My Name reunites Rivers Of Nihil with Monarchy producer Carson Slovak (August Burns Red, The Last Ten Seconds of Life) and Dan Seagrave, the storied artist behind such celebrated album covers as Entombed's Left Hand Path and Suffocation's Effigy of the Forgotten. The result is the Reading, PA quintet's most visceral, accomplished, and satisfying offering to-date.
Guitarist Brody Uttley comments: "This record is Rivers Of Nihil being exactly who we want to be. Many bands get stuck in a comfortable routine of releasing the same album over and over again. Constantly relying on the same familiar formula may work for some bands, but it does not work for us. Music is art, and art is ever-changing. Without change, there is no progress. Without progress, the very fire that powers art and expression will die. This record is the sound of where we come from, where we are, and where we are going."
Adds bassist/vocalist Adam Biggs: "This time around, the lyrics feel a little more personal than on previous albums. The story picks up several millennia after the events of 'Monarchy', where one person still remains alive, chosen by the planet to be the sole intelligent witness of its ultimate fate. But 'Where Owls Know My Name' is less about overarching narrative than our previous albums. The scenario is just a backdrop for the more emotional material we tried to put forth this time around. Ultimately, this is an album about loss, getting older, and reaching a point where death becomes a much more present part of your life."
Tracklisting:
“Cancer / Moonspeak”
“The Silent Life”
“A Home”
“Old Nothing”
“Subtle Change (Including The Forest Of Transition)”

Black Salvation - featuring Uno Bruniusson formerly of In Solitude and Grave Pleasures and currently of Death Alley - challenges the listener to open wide the doors of perception and slowly drift away among their transcendental compositions and deeply hypnotic tales of magic and mysticism. Ahead of the release of TESSERACT's new studio album "Sonder", the band has revealed the official video for the new single "King". The emotive and viscerally challenging clip was directed by Kyle Kadow and Steven Cleavland and shot in a snowy Wisconsin following a brutal storm, which all added to the atmospheric footage.
Bassist Amos Williams explains: "We have been very lucky to work with two cinematographers of such vision and quality as Kyle and Steven. We gave them free rein with the creation of the first story board. They chose to explore the theme of claustrophobia and how fear can control our lives — using a luminary figure as a beacon of hope and escape for the characters."
Lyricist and vocalist Daniel Tompkins expands on the song's concept: "Far too often we find ourselves lead into conflict and inner turmoil. Life is surely a battle, history has a bad habit of repeating itself, and when living with the constraints of an onerous life, it's easy to overlook the greatest gift we've ever received: life itself."
"Sonder", due to be released through Kscope on April 20, adds significant firepower to the band's arsenal, blending the harsh abrasiveness of "One" (2011) and progressive ethereal elements of "Altered State" (2013) with the accessibility of "Polaris" (2015).

"Dirty", the brand new video from SEVENDUST, can be seen below. The song is taken from the band's 12th studio album, "All I See Is War", which will be released on May 11. The follow-up to 2015's "Kill The Flaw" was recorded at Studio Barbarosa in Gotha, Florida with producer Michael "Elvis" Baskette, who has previously worked with ALTER BRIDGE and SLASH, among others.
SEVENDUST's new disc will be the group's first for Rise Records, the Oregon-based metal and hard rock label which was purchased by BMG in 2015.
In a recent interview with "Good Company", SEVENDUST singer Lajon Witherspoon stated about the band's upcoming effort: "We've done so much [more] in 33 days recording this than I've ever done in my life. I sang 14 days in nine days to make up for some time that was lost. But it was because I felt good too, so some days I did two songs a day. And it was an experience working with Elvis and [engineer] Jeff [Moll]. Not to take anything [away] from any other producer, but, for me, it was the best [recording] experience in my life. Maybe it [was] due to me being older and more seasoned with what's going on, but the way that he worked and the things that he knows about music was completely different — I'd never seen anyone [like that] before."
According to Lajon, Baskette had the music for 60 new SEVENDUST songs to choose from prior to the making of the new album. "For me, I felt stronger as a singer — he made me a better singer, working with him," Witherspoon said. He went on to describe his working relationship with Elvis as "a partnership. I hated leaving the house, and I can't wait to do another album with him, and I would like to do it even longer than 33 days," he said.

SEVENDUST will head out on a headline tour this spring in support of "All I See Is War". The trek will kick off on April 20 in Tempe, Arizona and will wrap up at Rockfest in Kansas City, Kansas. The tour will make stops in Austin, Texas; Nashville, Tennessee; Clifton Park, New York and Cincinnati, Ohio, among others. MEMPHIS MAY FIRE, FIRE FROM THE GODS and MADAME MAYHEM will join SEVENDUST on the run.
In 2016, SEVENDUST received its first-ever Grammy nomination after two decades together as a band. "Thank You", the debut single from "Kill The Flaw", got the nod for "Best Metal Performance".
"Salvation", the new video from German metallers CREMATORY, can be seen below. The song is taken from the band's upcoming album, "Oblivion", which will be released on April 13.
Like all great rock bands, CREMATORY has based its success on the creativity of a well-rehearsed songwriting team. With Germany's leading gothic metal act, it's drummer Markus Jüllich in collaboration with the producer of each individual album that's kept the group's compositions on course for more than 25 years. At the same time, Markus Jüllich has enough experience to know that the band's evolvement depends on fresh ideas and new influences. So, by enlisting guitarists Tosse Basler and Rolf Munkes and, soon after, bassist Jason Mathias he has ensured that the band has remained contemporary and diverse ever since their 2016 release "Monument", reaping the fruits his efforts on "Oblivion".
"In particular, the sound and the selection of songs reflect the impact our three new band members have had," comments Markus Jüllich. "Tosse is a fantastic rhythm guitarist who adds even more diversity to the material with his clean vocals, and our lead guitarist Rolf enhances the record with his solos. Jason has added lots of drive to the deep frequencies, which is why we've consciously opted for a loud mix of the bass parts."
Along with Markus's wife Katrin (keyboards and samples) and vocalist Felix Stass, the three new additions are important factors that ensure that CREMATORY find themselves in a contemporary and forward-looking position in 2018.

In fact, the band went one step further on "Oblivion": while Markus Jüllich and producer Kristian Bonifer were busy working on the basics of their new recording at the Kohlekellerstudio, Stefan Glass, Dirk Riegner and Walter Stobbe were asked to contribute additional input to the creative process.
"Dirk comes from the indie genre and helped to add an important new nuance to the characteristic CREMATORY approach," Markus Jüllich explains. "Stefan Glass is a specialist for orchestral arrangements and Walter Stobbe is a real riff virtuoso on the guitar." The result is thoroughly compelling as well as ingenious. CREMATORY's unmistakable style manifests itself on programmatic numbers such as "Ghost Of The Past" and "Revenge Is Mine", but also on the anthemnic "Wrong Side" and the melancholy title track. The Stefan Glass-inspired orchestral arrangements can be heard on the dark opener "Salvation" as well as on "Until The Dawn", "Blessed" and "For All Of Us". Walter Stobbe's penchant for heavy metal features on "Cemetary Stillness" and on the album's impressive finale, "Demon Inside".
CREMATORY has rarely sounded as multi-faceted and timeless as on "Oblivion". The group's classic trademarks, such as Felix Stass's deep growls, are still present, at the same time new influences emphasise their great commercial potential. Markus Jüllich says: "So far we've had a special motto to set the direction of each of our albums, but 'Oblivion' simply combines all our strengths and experience. Over the years we've learned to blend different styles into the typical CREMATORY sound without ever losing sight of the importance of playing in a way that benefits our music. The motto 'less is more' applies to our compositions 100 percent. CREMATORY songs never lose themselves in exaggerated effects but always go the whole hog. That's partly due to the fact that we've remained very much down to earth."
Which is exactly what CREMATORY's countless fans will be able to witness when the band embarks on its 15-show tour of Germany at the end of April. As Markus Jüllich aptly puts it: "Even if we know exactly what matters when you tour, we want to learn something new with every new concert."
Florida metal act Yashira has released another new song today called, “Writhe (Embrace)”.
"This track is one of the most contrasting songs we've written," says the band. "It is about accepting the inevitability of pain and confusion but denying their power over your life. It is about staying focused in a world of distractions."
The band continues, "This is some of the most aggressive material we’ve written and we feel the visual ideas Cameron brought to the table really accentuate the mood of the song.”
"Redact (Flood)" and "Writhe (Embrace)" are available as an iTunes instant gratification track. Meaning, fans who pre-order the LP on iTunes will get the single as an immediate download. Pre-order digitally here, or physically here.
The band will hit the road with Axis starting today. Kicking off in Gainesville, FL at The Atlantic, the tour will send the band up and down the east coast before wrapping up in Greensboro, NC at New York Pizza. All tour dates here.
Tech death masters Oblivion have premiered a new odd VIDS directed music video from tech today. The suffocating and unsettling track, entitled "It Has Become", is off the band's sophomore full length The Path Towards... which came out late last year on Unique Leader Records. Oblivion - who features within its ranks composer and Antagony founder Dr. Nick Vasallo, All Shall Perish guitarist Ben Orum, thrash veteran Ted O'Neill, and former Zenith Passage drummer Luis Martinez - have proven once again why they are one of the most exciting bands in extreme metal.
Vocalist and bassist Dr. Nick Vasallo commented on the track:
"‘It Has Become’ represents some of the main themes from The Path Towards...: Despite the billions of years of evolution leading to humanity's total preeminence, we have created a technological dominion that is quickly growing out of our reach. The intertribal conflict and desire for material wealth that benefitted us millennia ago in a harsher, simpler world now chains us to the bottom of a rising ocean in which survival demands unity and order at a higher level. Our failure to surpass our limitations leaves a clear niche for a superior competitor to fill, to displace us, and to continue the cycle of oblivion."
SAXON's music video for the song "Nosferatu (The Vampire's Waltz)" can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's 22nd studio album, "Thunderbolt", which was released on February 2 via Militia Guard (Silver Lining Music). The follow-up to 2015's "Battering Ram" was once again helmed by producer Andy Sneap, who has previously worked with JUDAS PRIEST, MEGADETH, ACCEPT and TESTAMENT, among others. The disc features original artwork by longtime SAXON collaborator Paul Raymond Gregory.
SAXON frontman Biff Byford told Overdrive about "Nosferatu": "It's a great story, isn't it?" referring to the story that originally spawned F.W. Murnau's film "Nosferatu" and Bram Stoker's "Dracula". "It was written in Yorkshire in a place called Whitby. It was a small fishing village on the East coast. It was very popular — still is very popular with the Victorians, and Bram Stoker wrote the novel there, 'Dracula', 'Nosferatu', yeah? It sort of inspired me. I used to live there. Twice a year they have a gothic fair there, a gothic festival, and it's all around the Bram Stoker thing. And also a friend of mine, a film director asked me to write a song about vampires, basically, and that's the song that we wrote, 'Nosferatu'."
SAXON is the primary support act for JUDAS PRIEST's "Firepower" tour, which kicked off on March 13 in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania and will wrap on May 1 in San Antonio, Texas. Additional support on the trek is coming from BLACK STAR RIDERS.
Byford told Dead Rhetoric about the tour: "I suppose we were out with JUDAS PRIEST and MOTÖRHEAD in 2015 for a few shows in North America — we've done fairly good gigs with them. But there's nothing like having a fantastic package together for the fans. You have to remember that when it comes to SAXON, the fans are the most important thing to us, especially when we are touring. We just feel that this package — especially JUDAS PRIEST and SAXON — is iconic. The first tour we ever did in Europe was with JUDAS PRIEST in 1980, so we've been friends with them ever since. The three bands are a great bill for the fans to see, the people seem really excited about the new album and about the tour, so we are looking forward to it."

Tengger Cavalry's sixth record and Napalm Records' debut, Cian Bi, is out now. A video for the album track "Electric Shaman" can be found below. Order the new album here.
'Cian Bi' stands for the name of an ancient nomadic tribe that immigrated into Northern China to merge cultural differences. The band's nomadic fighting spirit helps to fuse unworldly cultures in harmony - and that's the spirit! With their music as a deputy: Distorted guitars and double bass-blast beats hit this very own singing style out of Central Asia. With the Mongolian horsehead fiddle aka Morin khuur these extremes got stick together to a thrilling sound you have never heard before. This is innovation surpreme!
Nature G, mastermind and creative spirit behind Tengger Cavalry, comments: "In this album, we used the concept of the Cian Bi tribe, to express the idea of multi-culture development, acceptance of diversity and individual freedom. We believe that through individual choice and identity freedom, each of us can decide who we want to become and embrace every culture around the world as one nomadic tribe - human tribe."
