The follow-up to 2015's "Battering Ram" was once again helmed by producer Andy Sneap, who has previously worked with JUDAS PRIEST, MEGADETH, ACCEPT and TESTAMENT, among others. The disc features original artwork by longtime SAXON collaborator Paul Raymond Gregory.

Twice a year they have a gothic fair there, a gothic festival, and it's all around the Bram Stoker thing. And also a friend of mine, a film director asked me to write a song about vampires, basically, and that's the song that we wrote, 'Nosferatu'."
SAXON is the primary support act for JUDAS PRIEST's "Firepower" tour, which kicked off on March 13 in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania and will wrap on May 1 in San Antonio, Texas. Additional support on the trek is coming from BLACK STAR RIDERS.
Byford told Dead Rhetoric about the tour: "I suppose we were out with JUDAS PRIEST and MOTÖRHEAD in 2015 for a few shows in North America — we've done fairly good gigs with them. But there's nothing like having a fantastic package together for the fans. You have to remember that when it comes to SAXON, the fans are the most important thing to us, especially when we are touring. We just feel that this package — especially JUDAS PRIEST and SAXON — is iconic. The first tour we ever did in Europe was with JUDAS PRIEST in 1980, so we've been friends with them ever since. The three bands are a great bill for the fans to see, the people seem really excited about the new album and about the tour, so we are looking forward to it."

As Broken Limbs Excite No Pity, the long-awaited second full-length from Bruce Lamont (Yakuza, Corrections House, Brain Tentacles) draws near, a new video for "8-9-3” is streaming below.
Broken Limbs Excite No Pity will see release on CD, digital, and limited vinyl formats via War Crime Recordings on March 23rd. Preorder at this location.
Broken Limbs Excite No Pity, Lamont's second solo album, is in many ways a harsher experience than Feral Songs. Tracked in Chicago's Minbal Studios with Sanford Parker behind the board, it's a one-man show like its predecessor -- Lamont sings, harmonizing mournfully with himself, and plays saxophone, guitar, percussion, and electronics. Also like last time, it opens with an eleven-minute epic. "Excite No Pity" starts out featuring multiple crying saxophones and deep, almost Bill Laswell-esque bass drones, but is ultimately overtaken by searing electronic noise. "MacLean" warps an acoustic guitar melody with tape effects, to keep it from sounding too much like a Kansas song, while "Goodbye Electric Sunday" is a unique blend of spaghetti western soundtrack and beat poetry over an almost hip-hop groove. Lamont uses his voice as an instrument almost as often as he uses it to put across his lyrics. On "Neither Spare Nor Dispose," he wails and groans as loops of forcefully strummed acoustic guitar and rumbling percussion thunder past, and static washes over it all like a wave.
At its base, music is sound (noise, if you like) organized into patterns. And those sounds/noises don't have to be pretty ones, as long as the patterns are compelling. Bruce Lamont understands this intuitively, and has demonstrated an ability to create hypnotic, ominous, emotionally resonant and even somehow transcendent arrangements of patterned sound. These aren't "songs" like you hear on the radio. They're literally sound art. The Florida-based melodic death metal quintet The Absence have unveiled a music video for a new song called “Misery Trophies.”
The single, which is also available for download and stream via digital platforms, comes from their highly anticipated new album, A Gift For The Obsessed, out March 23rd on M-Theory Audio
“Misery Trophies” marks The Absence's second music video release leading up to the launch of A Gift For The Obsessed.
“’Misery Trophies’ is about the toxic people that we all have in our lives,” explains singer Jamie Stewart. “The people who cannot wait to be the bearers of bad news - individuals so devoid of joy themselves, that they revel in the delivery of misery to others.”
The video was directed and shot by Deidra Kling and Jeramie Kling, and edited by Tommy Jones (Slayer, Testament) at VideoHammer.
A Gift For The Obsessed is The Absence’s first full-length since 2010's acclaimed Enemy Unbound (Metal Blade Records), and is the first to feature their current lineup. Led by founding members Stewart and Jeramie Kling (drums) along with longtime bass player Mike Leon (Soulfly, Havok, Arsis), the group now features the high-flying guitar work of Joey Concepcion (Jasta, Armageddon) and Taylor Nordberg (Soilwork, Ribspreader), who made their debut on the band's self-released digital single, “Septic Testament," in 2016.

Derek Smalls, the bass force formerly of the fabled heavy metal band formerly known as SPINAL TAP, returns with the release of his first full-length solo venture, "Smalls Change (Meditations Upon Ageing)", out globally April 13 via Twanky Records/BMG on digital, CD and vinyl.

Symphonic metallers Whyzdom have released a video for the song “Armageddon”, taken from the band’s upcoming album As Time Turns To Dust.

"Exile Amongst The Ruins", the new video from Irish pagan metallers PRIMORDIAL, can be seen below. The song is the title track of the band's upcoming album, which will be released on March 30 through Metal Blade Records. The band teamed with producer Ola Ersfjord, who worked on PRIMORDIAL's 2016 live album, "Gods To The Godless". The record was tracked at Dublin's Camelot Studios, located adjacent to PRIMORDIAL's rehearsal room.
PRIMORDIAL comments: "This is a simple story. A soldier's fate that has happened around the world many times and will continue to do so. It is set in Ireland about 100 years ago. Nothing more and nothing less. They are the Ghosts. We are the Ruins."
Once again building upon their signature sound, the follow-up to 2014's "Where Greater Men Have Fallen" is a more raw, "old-school sounding" record than its predecessor. Hitting home with what vocalist Alan "Nemtheanga" Averill describes as "a direct energy" and wielding an urgency that is undeniable, the Irish quintet once again effortlessly blend elements of tragedy and might like no one else. TRIVIUM's John Deed-directed music video for the song "Beyond Oblivion" can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's eighth album, "The Sin And The Sentence", which arrived last October via Roadrunner.
TRIVIUM bassist Paolo Gregoletto told TeamRock about the song: "Corey [Beaulieu, guitar] was scrolling through his TV guide and he saw the phrase 'Beyond Oblivion' on a show, and wrote it down. I felt like I could make that work for a chorus, so I had to think of a theme of what that would be. I was listening to a bunch of podcasts about artificial intelligence, but they were comparing the idea of the coming technology to the atomic bomb — of how we created this incredibly immense, dangerous world-destructing thing in a moment when no one was really thinking of the implications. The song was viewing it from the perspective of someone that creates this sort of technology and comes to view it for what it is.”
Recorded with producer Josh Wilbur (LAMB OF GOD, GOJIRA) at Santa Ana, California's Hybrid Studios, "The Sin And The Sentence" finds TRIVIUM — Matt Heafy (lead vocals, lead guitar), Beaulieu, Gregoletto and Alex Bent (drums) — returning with its first new music since its celebrated 2015 LP "Silence In The Snow". The new LP also features the band's first recordings with new drummer Bent, who joined the band in 2016.
Heafy told Germany's Pitcam.tv about TRIVIUM's decision to include more screaming vocals on "The Sin And The Sentence": "'Silence [In The Snow]' didn't have it because we felt like it didn't quite need it. We could have put it on there from Corey or something because at the time, I hadn't been able to scream again. I blew my voice out two and a half, three years ago at the end of the 'Vengeance Falls' cycle. I had to rebuild it, and re-work at it, but thankfully it's back. It's a piece of cake [now]. It's great. It sounds great on the record — we're happy about it.

"The thing with TRIVIUM is we've always done the kind of music we felt like we needed to do at that time," he continued. "We never are trying to write to a quota or to a person or to a fan base of any kind of specific thing; we're always trying to make what we want to hear as fans of music and fans of metal, and that's what we did with 'The Sin And The Sentence'. I think 'The Sin And The Sentence' has ingredients of everything that TRIVIUM is and everything that's great about TRIVIUM, while 'Silence...' I think has some of the biggest and best hooks and some of the best singing we've ever had. We have done records like that before. 'The Crusade' had pretty much no screaming whatsoever — I think maybe two words were screamed on that record. With 'The Sin and The Sentence', we just made what we felt like we wanted to make."
Added Gregoletto: "There's really not that much screaming. I think it's a little deceptive just because we had an album that didn't have any, and then it kind of made a return on this record, but we made a conscious effort not to just overdo it. I think just to throw screaming into parts would have been, kind of, I don't know... it would have made it feel very forced. We can put it into our music again and use it when we need to. 'The Heart From Your Hate' has no screaming; one of the other singles that will come out eventually has no screaming. I think we've really accomplished being able to do both and we can kind of pick and choose which tools we want to use."
British rock and rollers The Temperance Movement recently released their new record, A Deeper Cut, via Earache. Today, the band have released the first official video from the album, for the single "Caught In The Middle". At the end of 2017, Dimmu Borgir drummer Dariusz “Daray” Brzozowski launched his new band, Dante. The digital EP Paranoidosaur (limited edition, out now) was recorded at Heinrich House Studio, mixed by Filip Halucha. Get it here. Dante have completed their lineup, announcing it with these words: "Dante sees the world for what it truly is: dirty and terrifying. The wanderer has travelled through the nine circles of Hell, only to find the same Hell here on Earth upon his return. Dante is tired from the journey and his voice is hoarse - yet no one is willing to listen to his warnings. There is still time to go back. This is his will."
After being announced at the UK-Tech-Metal-Fest 2018, and signing to Long Branch Records, Unprocessed have released their first single "Haven", from the upcoming album Covenant. A video for the song can be found below.
Unprocessed is a progressive metal band hailing from Hessias central City Wiesbaden in Germany. Ever since the band was founded in 2014, Unprocessed has shared the stage with bands like Monuments, Betraying The Martyrs, Being As An Ocean, Napoleon, and As They Burn, went on a first EU tour and played numerous shows in and around Germany, promoting the first releases, In Concretion (2014) and Perception (2016).
Unprocessed's sound features insanely fast palm muted, chugged guitar-riffs and shredding solos that meet soundscapes from another dimension, guttural vocals that are contrasted by lucid and melodic clean singing. A sharp bass tone and groovy, yet detail oriented drum-lines form a massive rhythm section and add a lot of pressure to the bands overall sound. This mixture shows that this young band is ready to conquer the scene.
Two weeks ago, MONSTER MAGNET premiered the second single from its forthcoming album, "Mindfucker" — a smokin'-hot, rocket-fueled version of HAWKWIND lead singer Robert Calvert's "Ejection". The original song is a true '70s classic and couldn't be a better choice to lead the way to what to expect from MONSTER MAGNET's 11th studio album.
No surprise then that Dave Wyndorf and Co. deliver the cosmic chaos with their brand new video, a great homage to space rock godfathers HAWKWIND as well as a clear reflection of the roar and shake blazing forth on "Mindfucker". Check out the clip below.
"Mindfucker" is described in a press release as "different, a step forward and a step back at the same time to the almighty roots of hard rock music, kindled by the unpretentious proto-punk era. MONSTER MAGNET guitarist Phil Caivano told Metal Express Radio that the band's follow-up to 2013's "Last Patrol" would be "very aggressive, very straight-ahead, very 'Detroit.' Once again, [it's] back to some of our American roots. We did the 'space rock' thing on the last couple of records. Being the huge HAWKWIND fans we are, AMON DÜÜL fans, GROUNDHOGS fans… that whole thing. 'Last Patrol' was very, very influenced by space rock, and there'll always be elements of space rock in MONSTER MAGNET stuff, but we brought it back to what we were influenced by as kids, which would be the Detroit thing: STOOGES, MC5, GRAND FUNK RAILROAD. Very punchy, American… That's really what it is. All I can say is the word 'Detroit' always keeps coming to mind."

MONSTER MAGNET's last release was "Cobras And Fire (The Mastermind Redux)", which came out in October 2015. The album was dubbed an "alternative listening experience" to the band's 2010 effort "Mastermind". The approach was similar to what MONSTER MAGNET did in 2014 when they took "Last Patrol", pulled the songs apart and rebuilt them as "Milking The Stars: A Re-Imagining Of Last Patrol".

Ritualistic, apocalyptic noisemakers Atriarch have released a video for "Void", a track from their Dead As Truth album, out now via Relapse Records. Watch the video below.
Recorded and mixed by Greg Wilkinson at Earhammer Studios (Om, Graves At Sea, Vhol) and featuring artwork by Stevie Floyd (YOB, Dark Castle), Dead As Truth sees Atriarch venture deeper into the blackened abyss with haunting incantations, exotic drones, and crushing aural experimentations that boldly embrace death's cold heart. Fragments of post-punk, gothic doom, black metal, sludge, and noise complement the band's desolate universe and further supplement their most immediate and formidable release to date. Atriarch prescribe the order that there is but one truth and that is death.

Californian death metal act Skeletal Remains have launched the official music video for "Seismic Abyss", the first single off the band's forthcoming new album Devouring Mortality.
Guitarist / vocalist Chris Monroy comments on the video: "The song is simply based on devastation of earthquakes and how unpredictable they can be with SR's own touch on the topic. The footage from the video was filmed here in Los Angeles. It was our first time doing something like this and we had a lot of fun doing it. I hope you all enjoy it as much as we did!"
Skeletal Remains will release Devouring Mortality, on April 13th via Dark Descent Records in North America and Century Media Records for the rest of the world.

Skeletal Remains formed as Anthropophagy back in 2011, released the two much lauded studio albums Beyond The Flesh (2012) and Condemned To Misery (2015) via German label FDA Rekotz, constantly toured Europe, the US and Japan, performing at such renowned festivals as Maryland Death Fest, Party.San, Brutal Assault, Obscene Extreme and Hellfest.
Rhythm-driven heavy rock band SAULT — featuring members of internationally acclaimed power metal group KAMELOT and groove metal outfit ARCANIUM, and guest appearances by members of KING DIAMOND, ONE EYED DOLL and more — has just released its debut full-length album, "Seeds Of Power".
The official video for the song "Last Man Standing" can be seen below. The clip features Michael McCallum and Pat Bird as actors, and was directed by Pat Bird, Pat Dowdle and Jasper Thewes at Bad Trip Design.
The new video is the second of two videos shot with producer Roy Warner — the first being video for the single "Adonai". Unlike "Adonai" that was shot in a studio in Detroit, Michigan, band takes for "Last Man Standing" were shot in a warehouse reserved for artist. The story line was filmed in the outskirts of town in a wooded area. The band and producer's crew all brainstormed after the initial shoot to come up with a plot for the story line. SAULT didn't want it to look dystopian or to look old school either; they were aiming for somewhere in the middle. The story meshed well with the music and captures an element of suspense, and the hero of the story did a great job of building up the character to become, in fact, the Last Man Standing.
Bassist and composer Sean Tibbets commented about the song: "When I originally wrote the song, I wasn't sure I wanted to use it. But once the guys in the band started putting their own vibe and feel to the song, it became this crushing riff that sticks in your head. It is my personal favorite SAULT song so far."
SAULT originally formed in 2014 as a solo project of acclaimed bassist Sean Tibbetts, who sought to write hookier metallic rock music while not in the studio or touring with his full-time band KAMELOT. After deciding to branch the project out to a full band, Tibbetts joined forces with solo guitarist/tattooist Curtis Jay, and — after an introduction via ONE EYED DOLL and SAULT guest vocalist Kimberly Freeman — linked up with singer Benjamin Riggs of groove metal group ARCANIUM. "Seeds Of Power" features the talents of two rotating drummers — Matt Thompson (KING DIAMOND) and Casey Grillo (KAMELOT).
SAULT draws influence from the heyday of '90s alternative and grunge rock — ebbing and flowing with inspiration from bands like TOOL, LIVING COLOUR, SEVENDUST, SOUNDGARDEN and beyond — and accented by a further heavy metal impact. The sound is catchy and hard-hitting that will appeal to diehard rock fans and metal headbangers alike.

"Seeds Of Power" was recorded using the power of the Internet, with different members recording their parts in Florida, Kentucky, Colorado and Texas. The album was then produced, mixed and mastered by Oliver Palotai (KAMELOT, ULI JON ROTH, DORO) in Stuttgart, Germany. Vocal tracking is credited to Adam Stewart of ARCANIUM and additional vocal edits were made by Jason Sewell of ONE EYED DOLL. Contributing writers on the album include Kole Kruger, Vic DeLeon and Jeff Garner.
