On October 21, WOVENWAR, the band featuring the talents of Jordan Mancino (drums), Nick Hipa (guitar) and Josh Gilbert (bass) of San Diego, California based metal act AS I LAY DYING, and Shane Blay (vocals) of OH, SLEEPER, will release its sophomore album, "Honor Is Dead", via Metal Blade Records. More aggressive and fluid than its self-titled predecessor, "Honor Is Dead" was written with contributions from all members, while the music for "Wovenwar" was mostly written before Blay joined the band. The results speak for themselves, capturing a group that sounds truly unified, and hungry.

For "Honor Is Dead", WOVENWAR chose not to converge at the same studio to lay down the record, taking advantage of modern technology instead by recording their individual parts in convenient locales across California, Alabama and Texas.
Hipa told Loudwire about "Honor Is Dead": "With this album, we knew that it was going to be a lot more aggressive and a little bit more intense. I think musically and lyrically there was just a lot of weight that we wanted to get off of ourselves. I think that comes off just in the form of aggression and I think we captured that."
He continued: "Everybody contributed and lent their talents to something that all seems to be pretty congruent. So think we achieved what we always want to achieve, which is really representing ourselves and capturing who we are and what we have to offer. So yeah, I'm proud of it."
WOVENWAR recently announced the exit of guitarist Phil Sgrosso. Mancino told Alternative Press about the split: "We just wanted to go in different directions, in terms of touring commitments. It was something that we talked about like adults and understood each other's perspectives. Right now, because he was still a big part of the creative process making 'Honor Is Dead' — and we've yet to tour — it feels like business as usual, but we'll see how his absence affects things as we move forward."

BraveWords is premiering the video for the title track from Mortillery's third album, Shapeshifter, which was released in May via Napalm Records. Singer Cara McCutchen told BraveWords recently: "My influences are all over the place. I'm sure that's why my vocals are a bit of a shit mix. I get bored easily so I really need to be able to have variety. I think my vocals in the song “Shapeshifter” really captures my power metal/black metal/thrash metal influences.”

Kee Marcello is a unique artist in the hard rock genre. He has never stopped evolving and growing as both a writer and a guitarist and the new album illustrates how much he has managed to raise the bar yet again with both his guitar playing, singing and writing.
Conceived and recorded in the winter and spring of 2016, "Scaling Up" encompasses all the influences and genres in which the Swedish musician has been involved in since the start of his career. Besides the obvious resemblances to EUROPE's classic sound, Kee also gives a nod to his past in EASY ACTION. Speaking of EUROPE (particularly the "Prisoners In Paradise" era), Kee took two officially unreleased songs, "Wild Child" and "Don't Know How To Love No More", and rearranged and re-recorded them from scratch. Beyond those two tracks, you can hear a touch of sleaze and more classic hard rock on songs like "Fix Me", "Blow By Blow" and "Soldier Down".
Marcello says: "The whole idea of 'Scaling Up' is to, very respectfully, use the music of my past as a canvas to paint a picture of where I stand today and what I aim for in the future as a guitarist/singer/writer. I think we've got the balance of now and then just right, and it's performed by the best group of musicians I've ever had the honor of playing with!"

He's best known as the guitarist — from 1986 to 1992 — of one Sweden's biggest musical exports, EUROPE. In the late '80s and early '90s, EUROPE were one of the biggest rock bands in the world. You can try to put Destrage in a box but you will never succeed. Words such as "progressive", "cinematic", "mathcore", "technical" and "groove-laden", could be thrown at them, but really the only one you need is Destrage, for they are in a category of their own making. This has never been truer than on A Means To No End, the fourth full-length from the Milan, Italy-based 5-piece, due out October 21st via Metal Blade Records. Riveting from start to finish, it leads the listener through an emotionally-charged labyrinth of complex yet catchy melody and muscle, following nobody's rules, and it stands out as one of the truly unique releases of 2016.

Destrage comments: "'Don't Stare At The Edge' faces the theme of fear, an emotion that paralyzes. Should we want more? Should we be cautious and stay with what we have? 'Maybe I'm trying too hard to keep this much together, when the pile falls apart into pieces, I have no hands to grab them' means that the expression 'less is more' may be true when it is about possessions, but wrong when it is about settling for undesirable, humble conditions like jobs - we refer to that as 'just a means to an end...' Destrage recorded A Means To No End at RecLab Studios in Milan, reuniting with their longtime collaborator Larsen Premoli, and his assistant Alex D'Errico. While tracking, at the suggestion of drummer Federico Paulovich, they brought percussionist Alessandro "Pacho" Rossi into the fold. Having entered into the writing process with no plans beyond simply wanting to write good music, the finished product - which is mixed by Steve Evetts and mastered by Alan Douches - is somewhat revelatory, and will certainly grab the attention of anyone exposed to it. Known for their powerful live shows, these tracks are sure to sound incredible when blasted from titanic speakers as the band take them to the masses.

Swedish occult rockers GHOST have unveiled a new clip titled "The Summoning VI: The Proceedings Intensify" in the wake of the release of their new "Popestar" EP, which debuted at the No. 1 position on Billboard's Top Rock Albums and Hard Rock Albums charts and sold over 21,000 copies in its first week. The release is also the first EP to top the Top Rock Albums chart in its 10-year history. "Popestar" was released on September 16 by Loma Vista Recordings and is available online and in record stores on CD, vinyl, and digital. The surprise five-track offering features leading psalm "Square Hammer" and also contains covers of selections by ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN, SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO, EURYTHMICS and IMPERIET. "Popestar" was recorded by Papa Emeritus III and his Nameless Ghouls in Linköping, Sweden and produced by Tom Dalgety (PIXIES, ROYAL BLOOD, OPETH). Additionally, GHOST released a deluxe version of "Meliora", their acclaimed 2015 Grammy Award-winning album. "Meliora Deluxe" contains the "Popestar" EP as a bonus disc (CD or LP or digital). The arrival of the "Popestar" EP coincided with the launch of the band's 41-city U.S. headlining "Popestar" tour, which kicked off on September 16. GHOST is known for its eccentric performances and is composed of six members easily recognized for their satanic attires. Five men who call themselves as Nameless Ghouls play the instruments while the lead vocalist is known as Papa Emeritus. The Nameless Ghouls who are wearing identical devil masks and costumes represent the five instrumentalities or elements (fire, water, air, earth and aether or quintessence) while their leader Papa Emeritus represents the group's anti-pope symbol.
PUSCIFER, the Arizona-based electro-rock band fronted by TOOL's Maynard James Keenan, has released the video for the song "The Arsonist". The animated clip finds Keenan and his bandmates joined by a special group of female fighters as they take on Trumpzilla.
When asked about the clip, Keenan offered: "Sometimes you grab the Puscifer. Sometimes the Puscifer grabs you."
"The Arsonist" is taken from PUSCIFER's latest album, "Money $hot", which was released in October 2015 via Keenan's Puscifer Entertainment. The album landed at #1 on Billboard's Independent Music chart, #2 on the Alternative Albums chart and #30 on the Top 200. In a four-star review, Revolver magazine described the album as "a meditative and hypnotic — not to mention wholly engaging — offering" and both Crave and Kerrang! placed the release on their year-end, best-of lists, with Crave saying: "The yin and yang of masculine and feminine energy interweave a pulsing eroticism that curls itself around the mind like one of Keenan's many grapevines."
Speaking to The Aquarian Weekly, Keenan stated about the songwriting process on "Money $hot": "I have been working with Matt [Mitchell] for a while now. As far as the larger project, it has been a lot of back-and-forth with him. In terms of the harmonies, there has been a lot of tracking with my own voice. But it has also been a very important step to bring Carina [Round] in and help out as much as she can. You can have peaks and valleys in your voice, so her own peaks and valleys and wave form add a contrast to my own, and create a much thicker vocal, which has been a very important component to add."
"Fallow Season", the new Truls Aagedal-directed video from Norwegian alternative metallers MADDER MORTEM, can be seen below. Formed in 1993, and, having started out with a doom metal sound, MADDER MORTEM became one of the earliest bands from the contemporary Norwegian metal scene to break away from set genre boundaries. With each of its releases, MADDER MORTEM continued to develop, seamlessly transitioning into an experimental progressive metal band with a unique sense of groove and contrasting arrangements. Comprised of Agnete M. Kirkevaag on vocals, BP. M. Kirkevaag on guitar and vocals, Richard Wikstrand on guitars, Tormod L. Moseng on bass and Mads Solås on drums, and with seven years between the release of the band's last album, "Eight Ways", and "Red In Tooth And Claw", MADDER MORTEM still maintains its trademark sound, so well defined by Agnete's massive vocals, which range from the most tender whispers to the most violent screams. In a recent interview with Metal-Temple.com, Brant compared "Tao Of The Devil" to the first LOW DESERT PUNK BAND record, 'Black Power Flower'. He said: "They are very different in that 'Black Power Flower' was me returning to solo work after stepping away for some years, and in returning, I was impatient and frustrated and there was an angst there. I related the feeling to being a kid and skating and listening to punk rock and I just wanted to just scream and shout. It was written all pretty quickly, and it was more about representing that experience and it was a satisfying thing to make. I felt like I got this thing off my chest and out of my system. In the process, I developed a really good relationship with my band. What stuck was something awesome and they've ended up being the best band I've ever worked with, and this record reflects that arrival. They do the thing that comes naturally to them and you just roll with that. With all the power I have as a solo artist, I could inject myself back into a band situation." "We Will Not Go Quietly", the new video from SIXX:A.M. — the band featuring MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx alongside guitarist DJ Ashba and vocalist James Michael — can be seen below. The song is taken from SIXX:A.M.'s new album, "Vol. 2, Prayers For The Blessed", which will be released on November 18 via Eleven Seven Music. Written and recorded at the same time as "Vol. 1, Prayers For The Damned", released earlier this year, the album acts as a companion piece to the first chapter while simultaneously elevating the band's sound in every area.
Directed by Wayne Isham (METALLICA, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH), the "We Will Not Go Quietly" clip was filmed last month during SIXX:A.M.'s show in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and it offers viewers a "show day in the life of" the band, in addition to their powerful onstage energy. "We Will Not Go Quietly" can also be heard as the theme song of A&E's "Gangland Undercover", which begins airing December 2 (check local listings). "'We Will Not Go Quietly' takes the call-to-action spirit of 'Rise' [from 'Vol. 1 Prayers For The Damned'] to a whole new level," says Michael. "It reflects the raw passion with which mankind fights as some of our most basic human rights are being threatened. We are excited to share the song and video with everyone and hope that it inspires people to continue to strive to make the world a better place."
From "We Will Not Go Quietly" to the operatic show stopper "Maybe It's Time" and groove-driven, radio-ready rocker "That's Gonna Leave A Scar", "Prayers For The Blessed" displays the many sides of SIXX:A.M.'s sound, something that the band was able to develop by ramping up the amount of time they spent out on the road.
"We really found ourselves onstage and it's influencing the way we write," says Sixx. "We started focusing on our music not only as songwriters and lyricists but also stayed conscious of what would transfer over live to the audience."
Regarding the decision to split the "Prayers" project into two separate albums, James told The Aquarian Weekly: "When we set out to make two records, it was very intentional. We didn't want this to fall into that category that a lot of albums do, where it actually sounds like you went into the studio to one record, you have a few extra songs, you figured you'd polish them up and then you have a double album. We've all fallen victims to those albums before. This was a very different beast. It was very intentional. We thought of this as one big record, but then in a lot ways, we knew that we were going to be releasing them separately, so we did treat them separately, so they would stand alone. But we put so much effort and thought and care into every single note of both records and we wrote them both at the same time, and then figured out where each song made sense, so I think 'Vol. 2' is absolutely as strong, if not stronger than 'Vol. 1'. There are some songs on there that are really career songs. So, in a way, while we're so excited about 'Vol. 1' and the response that we're getting, we're also chomping at the bit for people to sink their teeth into 'Vol. 2' as well."
In a separate interview with Lehigh Valley Music, James stated about the decision to release "Vol. 2" so soon after "Vol. 1": "We didn't want to wait too long in between because they’re definitely connected. Both volumes certainly stand alone and are very satisfying bodies of work, but when they are experienced together, another layer of SIXX:A.M. and another of the messaging will be revealed. So it was important that we didn’t release them too far apart because they are connected, but we didn't want to release them at the same time 'cause that's an awful lot of music to absorb. And as you know, SIXX:A.M. music is — it's pretty heavy and it's pretty complex and deals with very, sometimes, difficult subject matter. So we wanted people to have time to absorb the messaging and absorb the songs before we then dropped a whole other album on them. But the reason we decided to do two records is we wanted to provide a lot of new music for people. We also kind of felt like we were playing catch-up in a way. 'Cause for the last ten years, we haven't been able to tour very much at all, and so we felt like, in a way, we were making up for lost time." Touring three continents this year, SIXX:A.M. are excited to bring their music in front of audiences globally and perform the songs from "Prayers For The Blessed". Taking their shows beyond the performance, the band made the announcement of "Prayers For The Blessed" during the first stop of their Canadian tour in Abbotsford, British Columbia and will be shooting the video for "We Will Not Go Quietly" off the new album with iconic director Wayne Isham during their show in Edmonton, Alberta on Saturday, September 17. That same day, fans will also get a chance to meet the band during an in-store album signing at the West Edmonton Mall. "Stormbending", the new video from DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT, the band led by Canadian musician/producer Devin Townsend, can be seen at VEVO.com. The track is taken from DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT's new album, "Transcendence", which was released on September 9.
The follow-up to 2014's "Z2" double album (half of which was made up of the DTP full-length "Sky Blue"), "Transcendence" sees the award-winning Townsend exploring a relatively new way of working, collaborating with the entire DTP band during the writing stages of the record. "The result of this process is a record that I truly think the intention of is special," he says of the album. "I 'found' gas to put into the tank and am glad I did. I think the intention, the theme, and the participation of everyone involved allows this album to act like a fulcrum between the past few years and what I intend to do next with the symphony. I am very proud of it and everyone involved."

In conjunction with the release of the EP, the band has also unveiled the official video for the title track and first single, "Aftermath". Check it out below.
In keeping with the track's powerful lyrics, the video portrays a heart-wrenching scene of a rescue team searching rubble and ruin for life, as a child lays desperate, buried beneath the destruction. Entwined with an explosive live performance of the band, the story ends with hope and liberation as the boy is discovered and brought to safety.
Comprised of vocalist Austin Dickinson (son of IRON MAIDEN singer Bruce Dickinson), guitarist and keyboardist Conor O'Keefe, guitarist Will Homer, bassist Stefan Whiting and drummer Dave Fee, AS LIONS is the evolution of British rock. Standing by their mission to create "the biggest, baddest hard rock we could, and on an almost cinematic scale," the band has worked with award-winning producer David Bendeth (OF MICE & MEN, PARAMORE, BRING ME THE HORIZON) and Kane Churko (FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, DISTURBED, IN THIS MOMENT).
The EP's four dynamic tracks are a study in contrasts, mixing thick, grinding riffs and rhythms with majestically sweeping strings, stately piano tinklings and a hefty dose of atmospheric electronics, all shot through with Dickinson's soaring vocals and introspective lyrics. "Aftermath" has Dickinson asking: "What have we created / what have we become?" as guitars churn and crash around him. "Conceptually it's about trying to navigate your way out of disaster, be it personal, collective, or in the case of the video, a war zone," Austin says. Another track, the crushing "Deathless" targets the Internet culture's obsession with image.

"City Of Destruction", the new video from THE NEAL MORSE BAND, can be seen below. The song is taken from the group's new album, "The Similitude Of A Dream", which will be released on November 11 on Radiant Records via Metal Blade Records/Sony.
The journey of Neal Morse has seen three decades of musical accomplishments, the latest being the inception of THE NEAL MORSE BAND. Morse has forged many relationships over the years with his other bands, SPOCK'S BEARD, FLYING COLORS and TRANSATLANTIC. However, the most compelling and fruitful efforts have been those with drummer Mike Portnoy (THE WINERY DOGS, TWISTED SISTER, ex-DREAM THEATER). This will be the eighth studio album with Morse, Portnoy and bassist Randy George, and the second as a true collaboration with this current lineup, which also includes keyboardist Bill Hubauer and guitarist Eric Gillette. Clocking in at over a hundred minutes, this amazing piece of prog storytelling will leave you breathless, exhilarated, amused and fulfilled in a way that only inspired music can. It will be available in various formats: a two CD package, a special edition with the two CDs and "The Making Of A Dream" DVD, or as three vinyl records along with two CDs. Together, Morse and Portnoy have launched four bands, but the one that has endured the longest and thus with the most musical output has been THE NEAL MORSE BAND. Over the years, Morse, along with Portnoy and George, always assembled musicians as needed to support Neal's solo music. In 2012, they held auditions to find the musicians needed to fill out the band as a permanent lineup that would write music collectively. Hubauer and Gillette joined the band after three days of auditions. The fivesome went on to release "The Grand Experiment" in 2014 followed by the "Alive Again" live DVD/2 CD package in 2015. As Neal Morse explains: "'The Similitude Of A Dream' is loosely and sometimes directly based on the book 'Pilgrim's Progress' by John Bunyan. The book's original title was 'The Pilgrim's Progress' from this world to the that which is to come, delivered under the similitude of a dream, and it was originally published in 1678. The book chronicles the spiritual journey of a man from the City of Destruction to the place of Deliverance. Someone had suggested to me that I do a concept album based on this book, but I kind of forgot about it. Then when I began writing new songs last December, the suggestion came to my mind. I had never read the book, so I Googled the SparkNotes story outline and began to write some little song bits and instrumentals based on what I had read. Those bits combined with the ideas that the other guys brought to the table then miraculously exploded into this double concept album. Funny thing is, this album only really covers about the first 75 or 80 pages. Maybe we should've made a five disc collection! Well, we'll save that for later. Ha." He continues: "At the conclusion of the grueling recording sessions, I remember Mike saying rather prophetically, 'Boys, I think we just made the album of our careers.'" "I honestly think this is the album of my career," declares Portnoy. "Neal and I have now made 18 studio albums together, and I consider 'The Similitude Of A Dream' the absolute creative pinnacle of our collaborations together. I've always had a soft spot for double concept albums such as PINK FLOYD's 'The Wall' and THE WHO's 'Tommy', and I can bravely say that I think we've created an album here that can sit side by side with those masterpieces. Bold words, I know, but after a career of almost 50 albums, I honestly consider this to be one of the defining works of my career." "We weren't sure we had enough music to make a double CD, and yet it seemed as though the concept and the music wanted to go there," bassist Randy George continues. "Ultimately, we created so much great music in the sessions that it just had to be a double album! To cap that off, we worked with a pre-imminent classic album cover artist to create painted illustrations of our concept which will grace the booklet!"

Since releasing Darkness Of An Age in 2014, the band has been working tirelessly, expanding their reach and building a solid, dedicated following. Performing at a range of festivals, countless tours, and sharing the stage with some of the biggest names in the underground, from SikTh and Heart Of A Coward, to Fallujah and Circles.
At the beginning of October they took to the stage at this year’s Euroblast Festival and will now head back out on the road for their UK headline tour. Kicking off on release day, Exist Immortal will play eight shows across the country, including a night in the capital at The Black Heart, Camden, on November 1st.
