Italian rockers Be The Wolf will release their new album, Rouge, on November 9th via Marquee/Avalon in Japan, and on November 18th via Scarlet Records in the rest of the world. A music video for the album’s lead track, “Phenomenons”, can be found below.
Formed in 2011 in Turin, Italy, Be The Wolf had one goal: to write and play rock music, plain and simple, with no masterplans and with no need to conform to any genre, definition or label. Since then they released a bunch of singles, videos and an EP that were very well received worldwide, and played countless shows in their home country and beyond.
Scarlet Records saw their enormous potential and signed them in June 2015. Their debut album Imago was released shortly after, to critical acclaim and commercial success. The band was received tremendous support by the most important music media outlets, including MTV, Virgin Radio and Rolling Stone, and were invited to perform in Japan, where they received the prestigious “Brightest Hope Award” by influential music magazine Burrn!.
Be The Wolf's music is an addictive mix of contemporary but Seventies-inspired rock and a touch of blues-filled atmospheres. Groovy anthems alternate with slow paced tracks and folkish ballads, with wide range vocals delivering catchy refrains and haunting melodies, enhanced by gospel-infused choirs. Rouge, the band’s new album, was recorded, mixed and mastered by Andrea Fusini (Upon This Dawning, MSWhite, Ready,Set,Fall!) and sets new standards for the band: longer than the debut yet straight to the point, the record is a concept about blood, fire and faith, a raw analysis of modern society, with its French title to be seen as an homage to the Bataclan victims.

“Down To The River”

“Blah Blah Blah”

On November 11th, Downfall Of Gaia will release their fourth full-length, Atrophy, via Metal Blade Records. A video for the new single, "Ephemerol", can be seen below.
The band comments: "We are pleased to share the second single of our upcoming record with you guys! “Ephemerol” represents the centrepiece of the story told on Atrophy and captures the overall mood of the album in a visual way! The video was directed, shot & edited by Martin Neumann back in September/October and we hope you will enjoy his work as much as we do!"
Recorded in June 2016 at Hidden Planet Studio Berlin with Jan Oberg, Atrophy was mixed and mastered by Jack Shirley at Atomic Garden Studio in San Francisco, CA, and is a record about the absurdity of life and human existence - an album about the constant dialog between life and death.
Downfall of Gaia is a dark wall, moving forward relentlessly, enveloping the listener, absorbing one's spirit to take one into the realm of the band's potent sound. Founded in 2008 and having undergone several line-up changes, the quartet is now comprised of the two founding members Dominik Goncalves dos Reis (guitar and vocals) and Anton Lisovoj (bass and vocals), plus Marco Mazzola (guitar) and Michael Kadnar (drums), who are located respectively in Berlin, Hamburg, and New York City. Although the group's roots lie within the DIY / crust scene, Downfall of Gaia has expanded their sound to incorporate elements of black, doom, and sludge metal. For their efforts, the band has earned many "album of the year" accolades - and with their upcoming release, Atrophy, they will surely earn praise from media and fans alike, once again.
Austrian folk metal band, Drescher, have released a new video for the Erntezeit album track “Dresch Quetschn”. Their debut album, Erntezeit, will be re-released on November 18th including three bonus tracks, featuring Falco’s classic “Rock Me Amadeus” and a 24-page booklet. Order here.
“Dresch Quetschn” video:
“First Blood” video:
Drescher will release their new album, Steinfeld, on November 18th via Napalm Records.
Steinfeld means “field of stones”, but is it as heavy as it sounds? Oh yes, it is! This is something really extraordinary. Ushering in a new kind of music, a new style and a new experience Drescher’s music provides it’s listener with authentic Austrian metal in both language and sound. As long as they’ve been cranking their amplifiers, Drescher has produced genuine tunes driven by the music within.
"Gift", the new video from GONE IS GONE, the new project featuring MASTODON's Troy Sanders, AT THE DRIVE-IN's Tony Hajjar, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE's Troy Van Leeuwen and guitarist-keyboardist Mike Zarin, can be seen below. The song is taken from GONE IS GONE's debut album, "Echolocation", which will be released on January 6, 2017 via their imprint label Black Dune Records in partnership with Rise Records/BMG.
Recorded at Sencit Studios in Los Angeles (with additional tracking at Casa De Leones Studios), "Echolation" was produced by the band and mixed by Ken Andrews of FAILURE (BECK, A PERFECT CIRCLE).
Zarin commented on the new album: "We were able to expand on ideas that were explored early on and really build on them. By the time we got to working on the album, everything had clicked and we knew 'this is what this is going to be.' And that made a huge difference."
GONE IS GONE's self-titled debut EP was released on July 8 via Black Dune/Rise.
Asked where the band's name came from, Sanders told NME: "We were honing in on things that were very human, relatable, real, and as far away from anything pretentious as possible. We were discussing subject matter of frailty and things that every human can relate to — love, loss, life, experience and opportunity and all things frail and fragile. The phrase 'what's done is done' or 'what's gone is gone' — you need to seize these opportunities now and make the most of it, reward yourself and fulfill yourself while the time is now.
"We think it's relatable and we're not trying to be anything that we're not. The level of pretentiousness is below zero — it's minus eleven, it's out of the fuckin' picture. This band was organically created and it's formed and has got to where it is now very naturally. It's all from the heart and it means the world to us."
Sanders also called GONE IS GONE "therapeutic." He explained: "I've learned it's a very healthy thing to do to jam with other people. Whether it's sitting for 30 minutes in someone else's practice room and just jamming with somebody, or learning a cover song together, or writing something together — any kind of collaboration I think is a healthy thing. You pull different positives from different people.
"For the bulk of the past 16 years, I've been very fortunate and proud to be in a band called MASTODON that followed the traditional cycle of write, record, tour-tour-tour, write, record, tour-tour-tour. It's worked out fantastic for us and I love every minute of it. However, when I get these brief periods away, and I'm doing something else that's creative musically, it just brings a refreshing feeling over me that hits a reset button. Every time I go back into the MASTODON world, I'm in such a great place mentally to dive headfirst in and give it all I've got."
GONE IS GONE made its live debut on April 27 at the Dragonfly in Los Angeles and completed a handful of dates in July.
"Seal The Deal", the new video from Danish/American rock 'n' rollers VOLBEAT, can be seen below. The song is taken from the band's sixth full-length album, "Seal The Deal & Let's Boogie", which was released on June 3 via Republic Records.
VOLBEAT guitarist Rob Caggiano told TeamRock about the "Seal The Deal" track: "We already had the album title before we wrote this song, and as is the case with all these songs, they came together musically before we had any lyrics. But this song, to me, very much has the spirit of MOTÖRHEAD in it."
He continued: "We were originally talking about covering a MOTÖRHEAD song in tribute to Lemmy, but when [drummer] Brandon [Carlisle] from TEENAGE BOTTLEROCKET passed away, that kind of changed our plan. So we made the title track a kind of indirect tribute to Lemmy and MOTÖRHEAD."
VOLBEAT frontman Michael Poulsen explained the story behind the "Seal The Deal & Let's Boogie" album title. He said: "When I write, I'm pretty much locked into this bubble. And sometimes when I come out, I have no idea where I've been or where I got the idea from. And going back to where I came up with the title, I really don't remember. I think it popped up when I was writing the song called 'Seal The Deal' and things just popped up improvising, and I said, 'Well…that sounds pretty good.' And I pretty much used that title on every song somehow, because you can analyze the title in many different directions. So I think I came up with the title when I was writing the song 'Seal The Deal'."
Asked how VOLBEAT deals with the fact that fans sometimes worry that each new album from the band is going to be softer than the previous one, Michael told Studio Brussel: "We don't. [Laughs] We do what we do, and we love what we're doing. And we're just progressing as a band. Sometimes people think the next record is too heavy or too soft. It depends on which ears are listening to it. We don't care too much about it. We are VOLBEAT and we found our signature sound and style on the first record. And there's a lot of new songs that could be on the first record, but then again, we're also progressing as a band, so maybe some of the songs are a little bit more soft, but there will always be metal influences and… We don't care too much about it. We just like to write songs and be on the road. We would never like to be on the road if we didn't care about what we were doing. So who knows? Maybe the next record will be an extreme metal album. It really depends on where you are when you sit down and write. So we don't think too much about it."
"Oh No", the new video from the British metalcore group BRING ME THE HORIZON, can be seen below. The clip was directed by Isaac Eastgate, who has previously worked with SPRING KING and LA PRIEST, among others.
"This is the first video I've took a step back from creatively and let the director take full control," BRING ME THE HORIZON singer Oli Sykes tells Rolling Stone. "At first, I was apprehensive but when it all came together I was psyched on it. It's got a good balance of humor and meaning, and it's a video that leaves you with a lot of questions."
Sykes said in a recent interview that he hopes to "push it a bit weirder" on BRING ME THE HORIZON's next album.
Even though he believes BRING ME THE HORIZON took a different direction on its latest release, "That's The Spirit", the frontman admits the group didn't venture too far outside its comfort zone while making the record. He told NME: "People thought 'That's The Spirit' was a very polished pop rock album. It's not. I think it’s inventive and unique, but it's still safe in a way. We knew the songs were going to connect well with people. Next time I think we want to push it a bit weirder. Who knows?"
Sykes said BRING ME THE HORIZON might experiment with "a darker, dance-y kind of sound" on its next album, namechecking LINKIN PARK and MASSIVE ATTACK as influences. He added: "That's my favorite part — it's something we do that comes across really well live you know when the song to us has a breakdown or like a heavy dance kind of vibe to it. You know, there's not many acts like that. If there was some bridge between what we're doing, somewhere between artists like PRODIGY or MASSIVE ATTACK and stuff like that."
He continued: "I don't know especially if we're thinking like festivals and stuff, then I like that idea like a darker dance-y kind of sound, but I'm literally just… I'm thinking out loud here, 'cause we could go completely opposite to that, you know."
Oli said that BRING ME THE HORIZON will probably take "at least a good month" off before they begin writing again. He explained: "It's been an intense year for us, and not just in professional terms but, like, personal too. Some of the band have had a lot on their plates and stuff. We do enjoy writing organically and letting something happen, but we've been working pretty relentlessly for the last album.
"We need to maybe take a break. [Keyboardist] Jordan's [Fish] got a kid now, people have got families and stuff. We need to take a bit of time to chill out and then really get hungry to write again.
"It's going to be a tough one, because we never want to write the same album again. I don't even know what it's going to sound like, but it's going to sound different."
German progressive metallers Long Distance Calling have released a video for “Trauma”, a track from their new album, Trips, out now via Inside Out Records. The video, crated by Michael Winkler / Iconographic, can be found below.
Currently on tour with The Black Dahlia Murder, Napalm Death, Pig Destroyer, Misery Index, and Power Trip in the US, Massachusetts-based extreme metal outfit Abnormality has just launched a video for "Cymatic Hallucinations", taken from their album, Mechanisms Of Omniscience. Produced, directed, and edited by Jim Foster, "Cymatic Hallucinations" can be viewed below.
Jim Foster comments: "As we embarked on our second video together, my goal was to portray Abnormality's intense energy on a large scale while bringing their concept of a 'trip' into the darkness of the mind into a reality. And as always, Metal Blade is incredibly supportive in letting bands and directors see their visions through."
Abnormality's Jay Blaisdell (drums) adds: "We're excited to release our new music video for “Cymatic Hallucinations”. Again we teamed up with Red 13 Media who delivered our previous video “Mechanisms Of Omniscience”. Overall, the song is about applying the concept of cymatics (the effects of sound & vibrational frequency on matter), to tripping hard on shrooms. Basically it's describing the trip of all trips. A hallucinogenic experience so intense that the auditory hallucinations experienced actually cause a cymatic alteration to the person's physical reality and existence, or even everyone's physical reality and existence. It's a pretty fucked up scenario. I personally have had really intense trips with both visual and auditory hallucinations. The sounds hallucinated are always indistinguishable from the real vibrational sounds. The whole concept has always intrigued me."

Houston-based progressive metallers, Oceans Of Slumber, have released a live studio performance video for track “This Road”. The song is taken from their current album Winter, which is out now via Century Media Records.
The band comments: ”So many thoughts. So many words. So much left unsaid. “This Road” is the closing song on our record and is the completion of a cycle that seems perpetual. Habits and inconsistencies, and our attempt to wrestle with them and make sense of each other as individuals. On stage is where we do our best work and this live session is a window into capturing that momentum - a place to shed our skin, open up, and evolve. We've always got more in us and we plan to do more of these sessions in the future. Hope you like it."

The Owe Lingvall-directed video for the song "Tombstone" from CIVIL WAR — the Swedish metal band featuring former SABATON members Rikard Sundén (guitar), Daniel Mullback (drums) and Daniel Mÿhr (keyboards) alongside singer Patrik Johansson (ASTRAL DOORS, LION'S SHARE), and guitarist Petrus Granar — can be seen below. The track is taken from CIVIL WAR's third album, "The Last Full Measure", which will be released on November 4 via Napalm.
Commented Johansson: "After 'The Killer Angels' and 'Gods & Generals', we are extremely proud and can't wait to share the last part of the trilogy! This is our best work so far, at least this is what we think, but I'm sure you won't be disappointed!" "The Last Full Measure" track listing: 01. Road To Victory02. Deliverance03. Savannah04. Tombstone05. America06. A Tale That Never Should Be Told07. Gangs Of New York08. Gladiator09. People Of The Abyss10. The Last Full Measure11. Strike Hard Strike Sure (bonus track)12. Aftermath (bonus track)
Asked if the SABATON connection has made it easier for CIVIL WAR to get tours and recognition in the metal scene, Johansson told Sound The Charge! web site: "Of course, this whole SABATON thing has made it easier for us to achieve fame. No doubt about that. On the other hand it is tough for us to convince the 'real' music fans that we actually are a good band since most of the real metal fans hate SABATON. So it's both good and bad."
CIVIL WAR's sophomore album, "Gods And Generals", was released in May 2015 via Napalm Records.
CIVIL WAR's debut CD, "The Killer Angels", was certified gold in Sweden by the International Federation Of The Phonographic Industry for sales in excess of 20,000 copies.
"The Killer Angels" was distributed in Sweden via the June 2013 issue of Sweden Rock Magazine and each copy of the magazine containing the CD was counted towards the certification; the album was also sold separately.
"Metal Is For Everyone", the new video from German melodic metallers FREEDOM CALL, can be seen below. The song is taken from the band's forthcoming studio album, "Master Of Light", due on November 18 via Steamhammer/SPV. The effort will be made available as a digipak, double color vinyl version and as a digital download.
FREEDOM CALL frontman Chris Bay stated about the "Metal Is For Everyone" clip: "Hey Callers, finally here it is! We can't wait to introduce our brand new video clip 'Metal Is For Everyone' for the upcoming new masterpiece 'Master Of Light'. This time we were initiating an amazingly successful campaign on Facebook we've never seen before. And made it possible that the craziest metalheads from all around the world are assuming the part of the main actors of the video clip! Whether from Thailand, USA, Australia, Chile, Brazil or from almost entire Europe... so incredible, we wanna thank you so much for your creativity, you were really kicking ass! So we could prove that two things are absolutely facts: FREEDOM CALL has definitely the best and happiest fans in the world and... METAL IS FOR EVERYONE!"
"Master Of Light" was recorded at FREEDOM CALL's Little Sun Creek Lounge studio near Nuremberg, with Bay and Stephan Ernst — who co-produced the band's previous albums, "Land Of The Crimson Dawn" (2012), "Beyond" (2014) and "Eternity - 666 Weeks Beyond Eternity" (2015) — manning the controls.
Bay previously stated about the CD: "Our fans can look forward to a whole dozen new songs which once again present the different aspects of our melodic metal with lots of fast-paced numbers but also progressive references and balladesque moments. There's bound to be something for every FREEDOM CALL fan."
FREEDOM CALL's current lineup features the two founding members Chris Bay (vocals, guitars) and Ilker Ersin (bass) along with guitarist Lars Rettkowitz and drummer Ramy Ali.
The "Hammer Of The Gods" single arrived at the physical and digital stores in July.

Just in time for the Pagan Winter, that will start tomorrow, Tarnkappe has finished up an ice cold video track for their song “Winterwaker”. The images fits the song and its feeling 100%, it is cold and it freezes. This song once again shows Tarnkappe might just be the ultimate black metal band of our days.
With a crushing and intense sound Tarnkappe’s second album, also titled Winterwaker will be released in December on CD, MC, LP and digital. Winterwaker translates as Winter Guardian, he who watches/guards over winter... Winter never felt this cold.
Earlier this fall, South Carolina-based instrumental tech metal sorcerers Invoking The Abstract unleashed their debut full-length Aural Kaleidoscopes upon the masses via Unique Leader Records. Tracked at The Basement Recording Studios with Jamie King (Between The Buried And Me, The Contortionist, Scale The Summit), the confounding record utilizes various approaches to rhythm, phrasing, and playing techniques to convey a sound that transcends genres. Invoking The Abstract's broad style, containing both soaring guitar solos and groovy mixed meters, creates a blend of catchy hooks accompanied by churning technical metal. A new video for “The Summit” is streaming below.
The band recorded Aural Kaleidoscopes at The Basement Recording Studios with Jamie King (Between The Buried And Me, The Contortionist, Scale The Summit).
Comments the band, "Aural Kaleidoscopes is a diverse and precise album written to challenge us as musicians and composers. Each song is composed in a different key, none of which are repeated until the final track that transforms the keys into a surrealist scale. Some songs are composed to freely flow from one to the next, as others stand alone as achievements in their own right, creating a partial concept album. This album is also our first experiment with completely instrumental arrangements leaving the interpretation of each piece to the listener."
UK-based black metallers, The Infernal Sea, have released a video for “Plague Herald”, a track from their sophomore album, The Great Mortality, released earlier this year via relaunched extreme metal label Cacophonous Records.
The Great Mortality focuses on the dark and macabre history of the Black Death which swept across the UK and Europe from 1348. Each track focuses on the sadistic nature of mankind in times of fear and despair, with historical insight into the horrors and atrocities committed to their fellow man. Treading into dystopian territory, this is The Infernal Sea at their most brutal and cadaverous.
Check out the new video below, along with the previously released clip for “Entombed In Darkness”.
Danny Worsnop, the newly returned frontman for U.K. metalcore pioneers ASKING ALEXANDRIA, has released the first single and video from his upcoming debut solo album, "The Long Road Home".
The official video for "Mexico" was filmed with director Blake Judd and sees the singer escaping from the toils of life with the help of sunshine, sexy cars, ice cold beer and some scantily clad companions.
Worsnop comments: "The new single, 'Mexico', came out of nowhere for me. I was on tour with my rock act WE ARE HARLOT, in a bar in Columbus, Ohio and that first verse just jumped right out of my eighteenth glass of Jameson and right into my mind. Knowing my brain, I immediately excused myself and waited for the lightning to strike. I then proceeded to pace outside the bar singing into my phone until the song was done, which was probably about 20 minutes later. I had the video in my head from that exact moment and was very excited to realize it. I had already written the treatment when I was introduced to Blake Judd, with whom I worked at getting what was in my mind onto film. He was very open to letting me take the reins which was very important to me, and we are already discussing what we're doing together next.
"The song was so much fun to write, record, and film, which is appropriate as however much it is in ways about being exhausted and done with one's reality, it is at its core a fun, upbeat song about letting loose. Something we all need to do every once in a while."
"The Lond Road Home" is due to be released worldwide on February 17 and is available to pre-order now on limited-edition signed CD and colored vinyl, along with a range of merch bundles. The album is also available to pre-order now on iTunes, including an instant download of "Mexico".
"The Long Road Home" sees a slight musical departure from Danny's previous work with ASKING ALEXANDRIA, now forging a deeper and often darker path through the British-born, Nashville-based musician's mind and displaying a truly stunning singing voice only hinted at in his previous work.
Longtime fans will see a much more personal and reflective side of Danny's, with brutally honest lyrical themes ranging from loss and heartache to Danny's past (and often public) struggles with drugs and alcohol. Backed by authentic, blues-soaked outlaw country, the album is also interspersed with a few more upbeat tracks, showing that Danny's ability to craft catchy melodies which will have listeners singing along in no time is still very much alive and well.
"The Long Road Home" track listing:
01. Prozac02. Mexico03. I Feel Like Shit04. Anyone But Me05. High06. I Got Bones07. Quite A While08. Don't Overdrink It09. I'll Hold On10. Midnight Woman11. Same Old Ending12. The Man

"Falling While Rising", the new video from New Orleans sludge masters CROWBAR, can be seen below. The clip was directed by Justin Reich, who has previously worked with Ace Frehley and BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, among others.
"Falling While Rising" is taken from CROWBAR's eleventh album, "The Serpent Only Lies", which was released on October 28. The cover artwork was created by renowned artist Eliran Kantor, who has previously worked with bands like HATEBREED, SOULFLY and KATAKLYSM.
"The Serpent Only Lies" track listing:
01. Falling While Rising02. Plasmic And Pure03. I Am The Storm04. Surviving The Abyss05. The Serpent Only Lies06. The Enemy Beside You07. Embrace The Light08. On Holy Ground09. Song Of The Dunes10. As I Heal
CROWBAR frontman Kirk Windstein said about the CD: "I intentionally went back and listened to a lot of old CROWBAR stuff, like the self-titled and 'Broken Glass' albums, to get a feel for what my mindset was 20-plus years ago. I also went back and listened to the bands that influenced CROWBAR in the beginning, like TROUBLE, SAINT VITUS, MELVINS, and the first TYPE O NEGATIVE record. So it was kinda me doing my homework."
The result is an album that stands toe-to-toe with those early CROWBAR classics while maintaining the lumbering hooks of mid-period standouts like 1998's "Odd Fellows Rest" and 2000's "Equilibrium". "Even lyrically, the approach was a little more old-school," Windstein offered. "Some of the songs have less lyrics to let the riffs breathe a little more, which I had kind of gotten away from over the years. It was a conscious thing to go back to that.”"
The tour cycle for "The Serpent Only Lies" marks the return of original CROWBAR bassist Todd "Sexy T" Strange, who left the band back in 1999 but now joins Windstein, drummer Tommy Buckley and guitarist Matt Brunson in forging CROWBAR's future.
"Todd helped start the band, so having him back is important to me and, I think, the fans," Windstein said. "It's a great feeling to be standing onstage next to him. It's a breath of fresh air for the band and makes us stronger.
"Having this be our eleventh record, we're very fortunate because so many bands don't last this long," Windstein added. "My whole outlook on music as a career is the MOTÖRHEAD outlook, which is that slow and steady wins the race. If you continue to put out killer records, continue to kick ass onstage every night and continue to treat your fans with respect, that's the stuff people will remember."
