A new experimental rock band called GONE IS GONE has been formed by MASTODON's Troy Sanders, AT THE DRIVE-IN's Tony Hajjar, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE's Troy Van Leeuwen and guitarist-keyboardist Mike Zarin. The collaborative group plans to debut an EP later this summer through their own imprint label via Rise Records/BMG. In anticipation of the impending release, GONE IS GONE has unveiled a new song, "Violescent", the video for which can be seen below. The band will also perform its first show ever at the Dragonfly in Los Angeles on April 27.
What was once thought a distant idea is now reality. It began when members Tony Hajjar and Mike Zarin were writing music for film trailers and they realized they had created a sound that needed a life outside of that medium. It needed a band. Fast forward through some phone calls and drinks: Troy Van Leeuwen was in. The trio met and wrote an EP within the first several sessions, but were still in need of the right vocalist. Upon first listen, Troy Sanders understood the vision and flew to Los Angeles to write and record vocals on the spot.
In the interview with RollingStone.com, Tony Hajjar says: "GONE IS GONE is a project that can live even when we are working with our other entities as well. The goal is to be able to compose remotely, if needed, on film, trailers, or on anything else that comes up... It feels good to know that all this music will see the light of day soon."
Adds Sanders: "The vibe from Day One was, and has been, very therapeutic and refreshing for me. The chemistry was immediate." For more information, visit www.GoneIsGoneOfficial.com.
"Stranded", the new Vincent Caldoni-directed video from French progressive metallers GOJIRA, can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's brand new studio album, "Magma", which will be released on June 17 via Roadrunner Records. The as follow-up to 2012's "L'Enfant Sauvage" was recorded at GOJIRA frontman Joseph Duplantier's Silver Cord Studio in Queens, New York.
"Magma" track listing:
01. The Shooting Star02. Silvera03. The Cell04. Stranded05. Yellow Stone06. Magma07. Pray08. Only Pain09. Low Lands10. Liberation
The cover artwork for "Magma" can be seen below.
Joseph told RollingStone.com in a new interview that GOJIRA worked on twelve songs for the album before ultimately deciding on ten. "We want a short album," he said. "Something less epic than what we usually do. People's attentions are shorter now. So a lot of the songs are four minutes."
Joseph and his brother, GOJIRA drummer Mario Duplantier, who make up the band's songwriting core, were forced to put the sessions for the new album on hold when their mother got sick and eventually died last summer.
"I felt physically, mentally exhausted," Joseph told RollingStone.com. "At the same time, though, the way it happened was beautiful. We were all around her. We had to cancel a few shows when she died, but it was very enriching at the same time. We learned a lot about death."
"When you read Joe's lyrics, for me, I cry right away," Mario said. "They're very deep and to the point. No bullshit. We recycle our sadness and depression in the music."
"Mario was recording drums, and I was playing guitar with him, just trying to help him know where he's at in the song, and both of us would start crying at the same time," Joseph added.
"The songs were half-written while she was sick," he said. "After she died, I still had to finish them. So one song was like, 'You're going to make it,' but the second verse is 'You didn't make it.'"
GOJIRA's fifth album, "L'Enfant Sauvage", sold almost 11,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 34 on The Billboard 200 chart.
In March 2015, GOJIRA released "Les Enfants Sauvages", a limited edition 5" x 7", 60-page hardcover photo book chronicling the band's journey around the world over the first two years since the release of "L'Enfant Sauvage". The images were taken around the globe, spanning over 150 shows on three continents, and were hand-selected by Joseph and Mario. The package also included a live CD and DVD capturing the band's performance at the legendary Brixton Academy in London, England.
With the release of Copenhagen-based Rising's Oceans Into Their Graves out next week via Indisciplinarian, the video for the LP's opening track, "All Dirt" has surfaced.
The "All Dirt" video was directed by Palle Demant, a talented Danish director with experience from both music videos and documentaries, among which his rock n' roll documentary Born To Lose is his most known work. The video features claustrophobic, close-up shots of human features, highlighting the certain human path from birth to destruction, which is the prevalent theme of "All Dirt", as the song's chorus proclaims, "From all earth, like all birth, this way all dirt must go."
Oceans Into Their Graves will be released upon the masses next Friday, April 29th on 180-gram black virgin vinyl and download. US vinyl pre-orders are available through Earsplit Distro here and internationally via Indisciplinarian at this location.
A video documenting the Oceans Into Their Graves recording sessions can be seen below.
Rising has recently been confirmed for a performance on July 2nd, at this year's Roskilde Festival in their native Denmark, one of the biggest festivals in Northern Europe, sharing the bill with acts such as Slayer, Sleep, Ghost, and Gojira. Prior to Roskilde, the band will play a release show on April 29th in Copenhagen; more Denmark shows and a full European tour will be announced in the months to come.
New York rock act Cilver will release their debut album, Not The End Of The World, on April 29th via Entertainment One Music. The band's own Leon Lyazidi produced the record with help from well known producer Johnny K, who executive produced.
The band have released a music video for their hit single "I'm America". Directed by Patrick Kendall (Sevendust, Megadeth) this is the first official music video taken from their all new LP.
"'I’m America' is the anthem for unification," says vocalist Uliana Preotu. "It is an anthem for everyone and about everything that America is with the good and the bad. While the song is inspired from my personal story, it is the story of everyone who lives in and loves this country. It’s a song that sheds light about people's journey to America, living in America, all the sacrifices everyone makes, and in the end just how great this country is. It’s a beautiful place, you can drink the water!"
The band is eager to release their songs to the world, the band spent a good portion of the spring locked away in Groovemaster Studios in Chicago.
"This is the perfect time to release this record," says Preotu. "A time where America is angry, frustrated, lost, but hopeful. The songs are honest and biographical to the point that every lyric made me cry as it transported me to important and memorable moments of my life. Moments of loss and hope, moments that every citizen and immigrant can relate to."
Anchored by songwriting duo Uliana and guitarist Leon Lyazidi, the band has come a long way from their previous projects in New York City. What served as an artistic restart has turned into a runaway train of accomplishment that seems to be going faster as time goes on. The band signed a new deal with eOne Music last year.
“eOne is real," says Leon. "When we set out to launch Cilver, we were looking for people who ate, slept and bled music just like we did. eOne was clearly a cut above everyone else and we couldn’t be more excited to be part an amazing roster, led by a passionate and creative team.”
After landing a management deal with The RSE Group (Slayer, Gojira, Ghost, Mastodon), representation from The Circle Talent Agency, and legal from Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP, 2014 and 2015 ended up as the band’s busiest years yet. The band gained traction touring as openers on the Hottest Chicks in Hard Rock tour with Sick Puppies and Lacuna Coil. After a series of radio festivals and showcases, Cilver found themselves on a boat with Motorhead for the Motorboat Cruise this past fall. In similar fashion, the band also participated on the ShipRocked Cruise this January, which sailed from Miami to the Bahamas.

Behexen, the Finnish sovereign of pure devilish black metal, are back 4 years after Nightside Emanations with their new album The Poisonous Path. The band is streaming a new music video for “Chalice Of The Abyssal Water”. The video was created by Håkan Sjödin, aka Mysteriis, from the famous Swedish horde Setherial.
Mixed and mastered by Tore Stjerna at Necromorbus Studio, The Poisonous Path, the aptly named, is a raging beast brutally animated by a strong and massive production. The riffing is abrasive, the atmosphere is mephitic and the melodies are bewitching. Behexen has never been so impressive and this new opus is, undoubtedly; their best effort to date.
The sinister artwork was crafted by Kristiina Lehto (Baptism, Horna, Sargeist):

Gritty southern metal four-piece Texas Hippie Coalition are back with their fourth full-length Carved Records album, Dark Side Of Black, to be released on April 22nd.
In celebration of 4/20 and their impending album release, THC have revealed their latest music video for the new track "Angel Fall”. The video is directed by Clark Deal and was filmed at 3130 Studios in Oklahoma City, OK.
Vocalist Big Dad Ritch states, "Putting this video together, we knew we had to make haste, because we had to get on down the highway. As many people out there in the world know, if you're a musician, the only real way to make any money is to take the stage. And we put more miles on tires than any motorcycle club in the nation.
“When you take a look at this video, you'll notice the simplicity. I made sure the camera targeted in on the players faces, their emotions, and what they were going through playing the song. We just let what's inside them pour out onto the film. Nothing big about this, no inserts of visions that some director might whip up and to try and show what the singer/songwriter was trying to portray. We kept it pure and raw, just the way I like it. We wanted to keep it plain, let you see the darkness, let the black shine in, let the shadows on the face block exactly how the lips are moving where the words can't be seen.
“The song itself is about a young girl who was considered by all to be a beautiful angel. But she chose a path that was not a righteous one. It led her astray, and it left the angel with a broken wing. Now with her broken wing, is she still as pretty to you? Is she still as valuable to you, and can she ever be returned to grace again? It's her road that she has chosen, it's her path. You can't help her down this path, you can only pray for her. And hope that your prayers are answered. And in the Lord so answering your prayers, he guides this little angel back to a mended heart."
Embracing southern roots while exploring a heavier sound than ever before, Dark Side Of Black achieves a murky, groovier feel while not straying too far from THC's tried and true brand of rugged outlaw rock. Pre-orders for Dark Side Of Black are available here.
Dark Side Of Black was recorded at Boot Hill Studio in Corinth, TX and Valve Studios in Dallas, TX with producer Sterling Winfield (Pantera, Hellyeah, Damageplan).
"Dark Side Of Black is our heaviest album to date for sure," states THC vocalist Big Dad Ritch. "We've learned a lot having made four full-length albums prior. We're trying to use that knowledge we learned to make an album that can maintain what Ride On and Peacemaker bring to the table, yet we wanted it to lend itself more to the power that is the RED DIRT METAL of Rollin and Pride of Texas. So it feels like Pride meets Peacemaker. Top shelf THC meets bottom shelf liquor..."
Although Texas Hippie Coalition are experts at their trade, recording Dark Side Of Black wasn't easy at times. THC drummer Timmy Braun comments on his physical struggle while recording the album, having just recovered from a serious infection shortly beforehand. He feels, perhaps, that this struggle influenced his recording style overall.
"About Dark Side Of Black, I have never had such a difficult time completing an album in my life," begins Braun. "I say that because my first session I had just got out of the hospital. It was difficult for me to walk let alone play a drum kit. After being in bed for literally two weeks I felt a bit out of shape. Then for the second session my hand was swollen to almost twice its size because of an injury! I couldn't make a fist let alone play a drum kit. However, I'm hoping the vibe I was able to create will have a special flavor that I wouldn't have been able to offer had my life been in order, per say. In other words, tough times make for better art!"
Guitarist Cord Pool adds, "Between tweaking our writing style and being influenced by personal things, Dark Side Of Black leads the listener a step closer to the darker and heavier side of what we have to offer."

"In Cold Blood", the new video from OTEP, the band led by singer, poet, illustrator, author and activist Otep Shamaya, can be seen below. The clip was directed Paul R. Brown, who has previously worked with MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, THREE DAYS GRACE, AUDIOSLAVE, SLIPKNOT, SEVENDUST, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, AVENGED SEVENFOLD and STATIC-X, to name a few.
"In Cold Blood" is taken from OTEP's seventh studio album, "Generation Doom", which will be released on April 15 via Napalm. The CD was produced by Howard Benson, who has previously worked with such acts as MOTÖRHEAD, PAPA ROACH, THREE DAYS GRACE, FLYLEAF, P.O.D. and HALESTORM.
Said Shamaya about the song: "There are nights I think of you. Suffering in the sweet amnesia of nostalgia. Then I remember the cold loneliness of being by your side and I hear my own voice whispering in the night, 'There's something wrong with me for thinking something's right with you. In cold blood. In cold blood.' This bit of writing created the song 'In Cold Blood'. It was really hard to share something so private and personal but I'm glad I did."
"Generation Doom" track listing:
01. Zero02. Feeding Frenzy03. Lords Of War04. Royals (LORDE cover)05. In Cold Blood06. Down07. God Is A Gun08. Equal Rights, Equal Lefts09. No Color10. Lie11. Generation Doom12. On The Shore
With Shamaya's multifaceted vocal approach, from gut-wrenching roars to soft seductive poetry to singing with a surprisingly magically beautiful voice, to her evolution as a writer and story teller, "Generation Doom" erupts with thunderous, punishing grooves that harmoniously detonate into dark industrial fury with magma flows of hard rock melodies that seamlessly shape shift into a mysterious musical beast we've just discovered.
Speaking about the current lineup of OTEP, Shamaya said, "These are the most talented group of musicians I've ever worked with. We are a family. These are my brothers in arms. My guitarist Aristotle and I have a spiritual connection on an alchemical level that's preternaturally conducive to creativity. Along with my amazing drummer Justin Kier and bassist Corey Wolford, we are a force of nature and resistance fighters. Music is our weapon. They believe in what we're doing, what we stand for, and have the utmost affection and respect for our fans, the OTEP tribe."
OTEP recentyl embarked on the "Generation Doom" tour. Support on the trek, which kicked off April in 8 in Las Vegas, Nevada and runs through May 28 in West Hollywood, California, is coming from Lacey Sturm (ex-FLYLEAF), SEPTEMBER MOURNING, THROUGH FIRE and DOLL SKIN. OTEP was formed in Los Angeles in 2000 and immediately signed to Capitol Records, an achievement based solely on the strength of its live performance. They were selected to appear at Ozzfest after Sharon Osbourne witnessed one of these incendiary performances. Their debut at Ozzfest was only their ninth live show, a major achievement for any band. It would be the kick-off for a career spanning 15 years.

London, England’s Zoax will release their self-titled debut album on May 13th via Century Media Records. The band have launched a video for their brand new track "Roses All The Way" off the upcoming album.
Vocalist and frontman Adam Carroll comments: "This is one of our favourite songs that we have ever written and probably one of the most straightforward for us. The whole aim was to capture a track that everyone can jump around to from the word go. One of the most interesting writing ideas for us was creating a unique drum beat that is consistent throughout. The whole track is about being on the brink of being fed up/making mistakes, but always looking on the brighter side and not to dwell in the past all the time. Learn, move on, be a better person."
The new album is now available for pre-order as CD Digipak and LP+CD at CMDistro or EMP.

There are some bands that create music, and the there are others that create beautifully expressive worlds within their music. This collision of art and music is a unique and wholly difficult thing to pull off successfully. The latest to do so is Canadian blackened death outfit, Unbowed. Not only have the members created an EP of songs that rivals big boys such as Behemoth and Carach Angren, they have done so with an entirely DIY attitude. Said EP, Dogma, released late last year, was recorded and mixed entirely by the band. Adding to this DIY attitude, the guys have also created and crafted their first-ever performance video; again a venture taken on by the members themselves. The video perfectly expresses the band's penchant for oneness within the universe - a stunningly epic trip that captures the ritualistic nature of their art.
Unbowed began as two-man studio project in spring of 2011. From 2011 through 2015, Unbowed independently released a self-titled EP, a full-length album, and assembled a live lineup which played shows throughout Ontario, Canada including opening for major international acts such as Battlecross, Einherjer, The Contortionist, and Erimha. Currently, Unbowed is gearing up for the release of their latest and most matured offering Dogma. Dogma is a 4 song EP consisting of the band's most visceral and expansive material to date.
Dogma, the follow-up to Unbowed's 2014 debut full-length, Collapse The World, certainly reflects the deeper meaning of the band's monicker. The songs contained within are eloquent, forceful, and wholly unyielding.
All Hail The Yeti released their new full-length concept album, Screams From A Black Wilderness, earlier this month via Minus Head Records. The concept, based on classic campfire-circle horror stories, presents a different story with each track.
Today, the band premiere their new silent film-inspired music video for one of the album's standout tracks, "Daughter Of The Morning Star".
Finalizing their conceptual music video series, the "Daughter Of The Morning Star" video is designed to depict the earliest part of the "Before The Flames" / "After The Great Fire" satanic nun saga. The video is once again directed by Brian Cox of Flarelight Films.
Vocalist Connor Garritty explains the concept behind this particular video: "This story begins in the late 1400's with a pagan witch/wiccan woman who lives by herself, purposefully distanced from a village of Christian Puritans. They are scared of her because she is different and doesn't follow their ideals. The men from the village plan to get rid of her and hunt her down. They rape her, beat her and leave her for dead. She then transforms and summons the power of the devil and takes revenge on the men and the people from the village."

Their extremely intense live shows have been seen all over the world and have blown away unaware audiences with their unconditionally tight and brutal performances. Mantar is a pure evil elemental force captured by only two uber passionate artists that strife for ultimate raw sonic power.

“Teenage Creature”:
Teenage Creature touches on themes such as urban squalor, disillusionment with your peers, fading youth, dystopian futures and out-partying the devil, among other things. "I think our lyrical approach on this record in general was to try not to over think it, just have fun and laugh in the face of everything that crosses our path," drummer Jordan Lovelace notes. Vocalist/guitarist Montana Masback adds that the revolving cast of characters in New York City and the group's daily interaction with their surroundings also played a big part in the writing of the album. "We wanted to avoid being too cryptic or obtuse and by doing so we felt like we could make the lyrics more relatable for everyone," he continues. In that spirit, songs like "No Control," "Problems" and "Life Is Over" address the universal human condition in a way that's far more celebratory than it is melancholy.

Astrakhan is now ready to launch the follow-up to their debut from 2013. With experienced musicians seen in bands like Pain Of Salvation, Royal Hunt, Evergrey and other Scandinavian quality bands, Astrakhan is now set to reach broader audience.
Adrenaline Kiss has a personal and unique sound that is easy to embrace for every fan of classic/prog rock in general and good music in particular. Asked about his decision to perform classic songs from ACCEPT for the last time in 2016 under the DIRKSCHNEIDER banner, Udo told rock journalist Mitch Lafon: "A lot of people ask me, 'Why do you do this?' And I said… Always people are asking, 'Oh, can you play this ACCEPT song and this ACCEPT song and this ACCEPT song?' I mean, I have fifteen U.D.O. albums out, and, for me now, U.D.O. is U.D.O. Of course, I know that the people like to hear ACCEPT songs with my voice, but I wanna close something — I wanna close, like a book, and say, 'Okay, that's it. I read it.' Sometimes you have to come to an end with something. I wanna close up everything with ACCEPT. And this will be the last time. And I said, okay, I'll do one more tour. It will be a world tour. Hopefully we can do this also for America, around maybe a couple of shows. And yeah, that will be the last time that you… When we are on tour with U.D.O., we'll never play any ACCEPT songs again."
He continued: "I also wanna stop to be compared with… Now ACCEPT is still on tour, and they have a new singer, and they are doing also 'Balls To The Wall' and they are doing also 'Metal Heart', they do 'Princess Of The Dawn'. And I don't wanna be always compared and have to say, 'What do you think about this and this and this?' This is also another reason. I wanna close the ACCEPT chapter. I mean, it was a great… I mean, in a way, I was creating this band, you know. Sometimes you have to say, 'Okay, that's it.' I have enough U.D.O. songs, so I can play more U.D.O. songs and be U.D.O. I can say without being arrogant, U.D.O. has its own fan base now. Sometimes you have to say, 'Okay, that's it.'"
To those fans that still want to experience the classic ACCEPT songs performed live, Udo has this message: "There is a band called ACCEPT. And please, if you wanna hear these songs, please go then to [see] ACCEPT. [Laughs] So that's the only thing I can say. Now you'll have the chance [this] year to hear it with the original voice, but Mark [Tornillo, current ACCEPT singer] is doing a — I would say — really good job on it, so please go there and listen then to ACCEPT and U.D.O. is then U.D.O."
Regarding what makes the classic ACCEPT songs so special, Udo said: "I don't know what is special. You never can tell it, really. Like [DEEP PURPLE's] 'Smoke On The Water', in a way, something like this. Sometimes there's a song that, in a way, that stays forever."
The April 2 DIRKSCHNEIDER concert at Kaminwerk in Memmingen, Germany was professionally filmed and recorded for a DVD and CD release later this year.
