JASON NEWSTED Says He Was Approached To Join ALEX VAN HALEN And JOE SATRIANI For New VAN HALEN Tour

JASON NEWSTED Says He Was Approached To Join ALEX VAN HALEN And JOE SATRIANI For New VAN HALEN Tour

Former METALLICA bassist Jason Newsted has told The Palm Beach Post in a new interview that he almost joined an all-star VAN HALEN tribute project six months ago. VAN HALEN drummer Alex Van Halen had already tapped Joe Satriani to play guitar, Newsted said, and the two were searching for a bass player for a possible VAN HALEN tour.

Newsted said he agreed to go to California to jam with the guys and see if it felt right, but he eventually realized that it would be impossible to do justice to VAN HALEN's legacy.

"How could you?" he said. "There's nobody that can top it, so how do you show it honor? I didn't want it to be viewed as a money grab. And then it kind of just all fizzled."

Last June, Eddie Van Halen's son Wolfgang Van Halen, who joined his father in VAN HALEN for the band's 2007 reunion tour with singer David Lee Roth, replacing Michael Anthony, told SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk" it would be "great" to eventually organize an Eddie Van Halen tribute show. "It's not in the immediate plans, 'cause that's a lot of moving parts that you've gotta corral to get that to happen. But I definitely think it should happen. Absolutely," he said.

Asked how he envisions the tribute concert taking place in terms of which musicians should be involved, Wolfgang said: "I have no idea. All I know is that the focus should a hundred percent be on Pop. While it could be a celebration of VAN HALEN and the band's history, I think more than anything, it should be focused on him… It's a tall ask and a big thing to figure out. But I do think it should happen at some point."

In November 2020, Wolfgang told Entertainment Tonight that proceeds from any tribute show in honor of his father will go toward Eddie's favorite charity, Mr. Holland's Opus, which helps underprivileged students access musical instruments. Proceeds from the debut solo single from Wolfgang's solo band MAMMOTH WVH, "Distance", are also benefiting Mr. Holland's Opus.

In February 2021, former VAN HALEN frontman Sammy Hagar told Kyle Meredith that he will make every effort to take part in the Eddie Van Halen tribute concert.

"I have nothing to do with the [Eddie Van Halen] legacy," he said. "That's their business — that's Wolfie, Alex Van Halen [Eddie's brother]; they're family members. Whoever wants to call me up and say, 'Here's the date,' I will be there. I don't care where I am. I'll cancel a [solo] show [if I need to]. [Laughs] [That's] something VAN HALEN would never do. I always make that joke — canceling a show was [out of the question with] VAN HALEN. I went out sick without being able to sing, Eddie went out with a crutch, Alex went out with a fucking neck brace — we wouldn't cancel shows. But I will cancel my show for a tribute to Eddie any day."

Eddie died in October 2020 at the age of 65. The legendary VAN HALEN guitarist passed away at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, California.

Eddie was diagnosed with mouth cancer in 2000 and had tongue surgery. He later battled lung cancer and had been receiving radiation treatment in Germany. Things took a turn for the worse in early 2019 when Eddie got in a motorcycle accident. He was subsequently diagnosed with a brain tumor, and received gamma knife radiosurgery to treat the illness.

TESTAMENT's CHUCK BILLY Says 'A Lot' Of Guitarists Have Approached Him About Contributing To His Solo Album

TESTAMENT's CHUCK BILLY Says 'A Lot' Of Guitarists Have Approached Him About Contributing To His Solo Album

In a new interview with Shawn Ratches of Laughingmonkeymusic, TESTAMENT singer Chuck Billy spoke about the progress of the songwriting sessions for his upcoming first-ever solo album. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I recruited guitar players and I told guitar players that I've recruited, 'Just write me a song. But don't write a TESTAMENT song and a thrash song. I wanna write something different than that. Write me something either bluesy, real heavy, more rock. I grew up in an era of loving THIN LIZZY and UFO and bands like that, so write some cool THIN LIZZY-style riffs.' But I really wanted it to be a record where it really took it back, kept it simple, kept it dry — no sampled drums and triggered kicks. Just make it rock, like the old records you used to be — just clean, that you can crank up and they sound good. I want it to be where someone puts it on and goes, 'Oh, that's Chuck?' Kind of listening to it. That's kind of what I'm looking for."

Elaborating on how different his vocal approach might be on his solo album compared to the music he has written and recorded with TESTAMENT, Chuck said: "Speed metal and thrash metal is based on a lot of cadence — it's the timing and the beat of the song — so I've learned how to sing in cadence, really, where other rock songs [have] more melody or maybe there's more note changing in the guitar playing where I can carry different melodies and things like that. I guess I'm looking for a challenge and something that I'll actually be proud of."

Billy went on to say that his debut solo album will "definitely happen. I just thought maybe during COVID [I would have more time to work on it… But you just get busy in life, and I just didn't focus on it," he explained. "But I do have a lot of people reaching out to me going, 'I'd like to contribute a song.' It's, like, 'Write it and just send it to me. And we'll take it from there.'"

Last month, Billy told the "Let There Be Talk" podcast that he has spoken to "about six guitar players" so far about collaborating with him on his solo album – "anywhere from Gary Holt [EXODUS, SLAYER] to Mark Morton from LAMB OF GOD. I even chatted with Joe Bonamassa," he said. "Just all kinds of different guys."

Billy previously discussed his plans for a solo album during a summer 2021 appearance on the "Not These Two Fucking Guys" podcast. At the time, he said: "Well, it started [to be] in the works, but then things just kind of got held up. I was recruiting some guitar players over the last six months to write a record with me, and I was gonna use a different guitar player on every song to help me write songs. Mark Morton, I've talked to him; he wants to work [with me]. I also want Gary Holt to write some songs with me. Glen Drover [ex-MEGADETH] is gonna write some songs… I haven't approached my cousin Stef [Stephen Carpenter] from the DEFTONES yet, but I'm gonna see if he'll wanna write a song with me. I tried to reach out to Joe Bonamassa [to see if he wants to] write a song with me."

As for the musical direction of his solo LP, Billy said: "I want it to be different. And what I've told all these guys [is] that I wanna do a solo record, but I don't want it to resemble TESTAMENT; I wanna do something different. And the direction I wanna go is the old classic vinyl-sounding records — just real, clean and dry and big. Real tones — not compressed digital stuff. I want it to be classic sounding, but have it rock, have it bluesy. Have some metal, but just have it where [it doesn't sound like what people are used to hearing from me]."

He continued: "I've done these compilation records for this Cleopatra label, and I've done anything from Michael Jackson to Christmas songs. And every time people hear it, they go, 'Man, that's kind of cool.' And I was thinking about it — it's fun to do, and it's challenging and different. So when I think of a solo record, I want it to be different — I want every song to kind of have its own personality and stand on their own. So that was kind of my goal. If I do a solo record — maybe I'll do a few, but if I do one solo record, I want it to really be something that [is] challenging to me, different for me and different from [people's] expectations, when somebody puts it on, [but] that they'll enjoy it still.

"So that's what I wanted to do," Chuck added. "So I've been telling [the various guitar players], 'Just start writing. Put the song together for me. But don't think metal. Don't think TESTAMENT. Don't think the bands you're in. Just write something cool that's got a vibe. And give it to me. Let me do my thing on it.'"

TESTAMENT, EXODUS and DEATH ANGEL kicked off the 2022 edition of "The Bay Strikes Back Tour" this past Saturday night (April 9) at the Fremont Theater in San Luis Obispo, California. The show marked TESTAMENT's first appearance with drummer Dave Lombardo since he rejoined the group earlier this year.

An original member of thrash metal legends SLAYER, Lombardo was the guest drummer on TESTAMENT's 1999 studio album "The Gathering", which also marked the first time the band worked with then-up-and-coming British producer/engineer Andy Sneap.

In January, TESTAMENT parted ways with its longtime drummer Gene Hoglan. Hoglan originally played drums on 1997's "Demonic", but didn't stick around long enough to do any touring with the band. He officially joined TESTAMENT in 2011 and played on the group's last three albums: 2012's "Dark Roots Of Earth", 2016's "Brotherhood Of The Snake" and 2020's "Titans Of Creation".

HARLEY FLANAGAN Doesn't See Classic CRO-MAGS Lineup Ever Reuniting: 'That Ship Has Kind Of Sailed'

HARLEY FLANAGAN Doesn't See Classic CRO-MAGS Lineup Ever Reuniting: 'That Ship Has Kind Of Sailed'

During an appearance on "Talking Bollocks", the monthly metal podcast hosted by ACID REIGN frontman-turned-stand-up-comedian Howard H. Smith, Harley Flanagan, who founded the legendary hardcore band the CRO-MAGS at the age of 14, was asked if he thinks the classic lineup of the CRO-MAGS will ever reunite. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Nah, really, sadly, I don't. And you know what? For those of you who've followed my social bullshit media and all that, you see that I've been over it for many, many years. I've extended the olive branch to all these fucking guys a gazillion times. Even with all the bickering that has gone on, back and forth, I've always been willing to talk, I've always been willing to try to see what everybody could do to fucking just make everybody walk away feeling whole on some level. Nobody's ever gonna be happy about anything because everybody's too bitter, everybody's too pissed off, everybody's too old. But I tried and I fucking tried and I tried, and all I really got back was a lot of negativity and hostility and bitterness. And that ship has kind of sailed.

"I'm always willing to talk, because at the end of the day — and I said this to all of them — we have the ability to make so many fucking people happy, to just give them that moment, and if that doesn't matter to you, if you can't get past your own bullshit for 45 minutes… That first album was only like a half-hour long; if you can't put your bullshit aside and get on some sort of platform and play together for 30 minutes and make all those people fucking happy, then you know what? Then you don't really deserve those fans. If you can't give them that, then they shouldn't give you shit. You don't deserve it.

"I don't know if anybody's noticed, but me and old JJ [former CRO-MAGS frontman John Joseph], we stopped talking shit about each other a long-ass time ago," he continued. "When the whole settlement ended, that was it, man; we fucking let it go. That was part of our agreement. It was, like, 'This shit, when the smoke settles, it's done. Let's move on with our lives. Leave me out of the press. I'll leave you out of the press. I'll only ever say something that's true or something that's nice or funny or whatever. I'm just done. I'm done.' And I asked the same of everybody. I'm, like, who wants to get on stage and play with somebody who's actively shitting on them, actively wiping their ass with their face every time they open their mouth? I'm supposed to get up on stage with you when you just talked all kinds of bullshit and I know the history — I actually know the history— and you're gonna keep running your mouth and I'm supposed to get up and look at you without punching your fucking teeth down your throat? Fat fucking chance, bitch. Let's have a conversation like two motherfucking men.

"I ain't trying to prove… Look, I'm not a bully. I'm a motherfucking grown-ass man," Flanagan added. "I don't give a fuck. I don't need to intimidate anybody with my toughness and shit like that. I've kicked enough asses in my time; I don't care. But if these motherfuckers ever wanted to have a conversation, we could have a conversation. But just let it be known — it cost me motherfucking over 250K [$250,000] in my legal entanglements just to fucking get the shit locked down that I owned. That whole fucking legal bullshit was just to get those dudes to stop playing under a trademark that they didn't actually own. I owned the trademark."

In 2019, Flanagan reached a settlement with Joseph and drummer Mackie Jayson regarding ownership of the CRO-MAGS name. Flanagan is now performing under the name CRO-MAGS while Joseph and Jayson are performing as CRO-MAGS "JM".

In 2018, Flanagan sued members of CRO-MAGS for allegedly using the band name without his permission. Claiming that CRO-MAGS was his idea when he formed it back in 1981, Flanagan filed a lawsuit against the then-lineup of the group — including Joseph — in part for copyright infringement, saying he trademarked the "Cro-Mag" name for recording in 2010 and for merchandise in 2009 and then again in 2017. Harley claimed in the lawsuit that the other members of the CRO-MAGS took over the band around 2002 when "Flanagan's first son was about to be born… and Flanagan had to stop touring to help with the baby."

In July 2012, Flanagan was arrested in New York City on charges of attacking several members of the CRO-MAGS during the CBGB Festival. Flanagan, who had been a panelist at one of the event's seminars, allegedly attempted to attend the concert of his former band. At the time, Joseph told the New York Post he and Flanagan started the band together in the early '80s, but Flanagan continually took all the credit for himself. Joseph claimed the situation got so bad, Flanagan pocketed every cent from their 1986 tour. "That caused me to lose my apartment and be homeless in 1987," John said. "I lived hand to mouth." In a separate interview with The New York Times, Joseph said that Flanagan "has been a negative thorn in the side of this band forever."

The history of the CRO-MAGS is integral to the history of hardcore, its evolution from punk and the development of alternative music genres such as hardcore, cross-over, thrash metal, post punk and grunge, to name a few. Numerous iconic bands from METALLICA to GREEN DAY, and individuals such as Dave Grohl have credited CRO-MAGS with having had a primal influence on their development.

Born out of the violence and depravity of the Lower East Side of New York in the late '70s and early '80s, the CRO-MAGS was the brainchild of a very young Flanagan (at the time 14 years old) when still playing with THE STIMULATORS. By 1982/83 he wrote and recorded the very first CRO-MAGS demos consisting of four songs that would become the blueprint for the debut album, "The Age Of Quarrel". He wrote all of the music, played each instrument and sang. Before long, he connected with Parris Mayhew and the two started writing music and auditioning band members.

ANN WILSON Says HEART Has 'Big Plans' For 50th Anniversary: 'It's Gonna Be A Great Event'

ANN WILSON Says HEART Has 'Big Plans' For 50th Anniversary: 'It's Gonna Be A Great Event'

In a new interview with HeadBangers LifeStyle, HEART singer Ann Wilson was asked if there are any plans for the band to celebrate its 50th anniversary next year. She responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Well, it's a little bit too early for me to be talking about that, but we do have big plans. And it's gonna be a great event. That's really all I can say at this point because it's such early days. And we will be dropping little information as the plans get locked. I don't wanna just start talking about it now until things are actual reality."

Ann's latest comments come just days after she denied rumors of a rift with her sister and HEART bandmate Nancy. In an interview in the 300th issue of Classic Rock, Ann said that she is "not" feuding with her younger sister. "It's a myth," she insisted. "Nancy and I are okay with each other. We just have different ideas for what HEART should be, and we haven’t figured out a compromise yet.

"Fifty years on, I still want it to break barriers and rules, and she's more satisfied to ride the L.A. imaging thing and just do legacy stuff," Ann explained. "So that's a real split between us. Things like this will happen, though, but then they'll get better, and we'll love each other more."

Relations between the two sisters were considered to be at an all-time low after a much-publicized incident when Ann's husband was arrested during a HEART tour in 2016. But in a recent interview with Rock Candy magazine to coincide with the release of her new solo album, "Fierce Bliss", Ann said: "Things happen in families. And that was a really good example of something that happened within a family, and we worked it out. But the part that made it hard was that it happened in the public eye. If it had happened privately, we'd have got the family in a room and sat down and worked it out between us. Instead, the police were called, and this myth was born that Nancy and I were feuding, and we were at each other's throats all the time. And it's really not like that at all."

A proposed HEART tour fell through last year after the two sisters failed to agree on which backing band to use. Ann wanted her guys, Nancy didn't. But Ann now says that another HEART album, which would be the band's first since 2016's "Beautiful Broken", is a definite possibility, especially considering the fact that 2023 marks HEART's 50th anniversary.

"It depends on the songs," she said in her Rock Candy interview. "The songs lead everything. And I'm writing songs again now. I don't know if they'll be for my solo thing or for HEART. But yes, I would like to make another HEART album."

Ann previously said that HEART will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2023 "because next year's the 50-year [anniversary] of when we actually got together and got going," she told Liz Barnes of Planet Rock's "My Planet Rocks". "Nancy didn't join until '75, but the band got going in '73. So, yeah, we have a bunch of stuff planned for next year. So I can definitely see HEART doing something."

Two months ago, Nancy spoke to Joe Rock of Long Island, New York's 102.3 WBAB radio station about why HEART has been inactive for most of the past three years.

"HEART had a big offer on the table last year for a bigger tour, but Ann wasn't interested in going out with my lineup of guys that we were out with before," she said. "She has a new lineup of guys that she wanted me to join up with. And I sort of [thought] I don't really know them and don't have loyalty yet for anybody like that."

HEART toured North America in the summer of 2019 after the aforementioned nasty split that kept the Wilson sisters estranged for three years.

Ann and Nancy had a falling out during HEART's 2016 tour, when Ann's husband Dean Welter was arrested for assaulting Nancy's then-16-year-old twin sons in a backstage altercation at a gig near their hometown of Seattle. He pleaded guilty to two lesser assault charges to avoid jail time.

After completing HEART's 2016 tour, Nancy formed a new band called ROADCASE ROYALE and released an album, "First Things First". ROADCASE ROYALE featured three members of HEART along with Liv Warfield from Prince's NEW POWER GENERATION band and her guitarist Ryan Wilson.

In Nancy's new band NANCY WILSON'S HEART, she is joined in the group by her longtime collaborators, guitarist Ryan Waters, drummer Ben Smith, bassist Andy Stoller and keyboardist Dan Walker, along with powerhouse singer Kimberly Nichole.

Nancy's debut solo album, "You And Me", was released last May via Carry On Music. The LP was recorded primarily in her California home studio, working with bandmembers and special guests remotely.

"Fierce Bliss" will arrive on April 29 via Silver Lining Music.

DISTURBED's Already 'Completed' New Album Is 'Coming Soon', Says DAVID DRAIMAN

DISTURBED's Already 'Completed' New Album Is 'Coming Soon', Says DAVID DRAIMAN

DISTURBED singer David Draiman has confirmed that his band has completed recording a new album.

Earlier today, Draiman took to his Instagram to share a selfie, and he included the following caption: "The face you make after listening to the new, completed @disturbed album #comingsoon".

Draiman's confirmation that a new DISTURBED album has been fully recorded comes less than week after he share a since-deleted Instagram photo of a whiteboard — which appeared to have been taken in a recording studio — charting DISTURBED's progress with recording. On the board, 10 songs were listed, featuring such titles as "Hey You", "Love To Hate" and "Part Of Me". David captioned the picture: "And that's a wrap people. #HolyShitIsThisGood #epic @disturbed".

The 10 songtitles listed were as follows:

* Hey You

* Divisive

* Love To Hate

* Part Of Me

* Won't Back Down

* Unstoppable

* Take Back Your Life

* Feeding The Fire

* Bad Man

* Don't Tell Me

Also included on the whiteboard was the guitar tuning for each track, with most of them using "Standard C#", "Drop C#" or "Drop C" tuning. One track was also recorded in "Drop A#" tuning, while another is in "Drop B".

Draiman spoke about the progress of the songwriting sessions for DISTURBED's follow-up to 2018's "Evolution" album during a recent appearance on "Whiplash", the KLOS radio show hosted by Full Metal Jackie. Regarding what it has been like for him and his bandmates to regroup in person after such a long time apart and once again launch the creative process, he said: "There's really nothing that replaces it. It was a continuing theme of conversation over the course of the week that we had together between our couple of shows we played in Indiana [in early November] and our performance over in Daytona for [the] Welcome To Rockville [festival]. There really is no substitute. There isn't. The energy and that realization when you've got something. Compare it to fishing, and you finally land a big one. [Laughs] It's incredibly, incredibly exciting. And we were on fire."

As for the musical direction of the new DISTURBED songs, Draiman said: "The material is somewhere between 'The Sickness' and 'Ten Thousand Fists' as far as where I would identify it as sonically. It's rhythmic, it's pummeling, it's anthemic, it's polysyncopated. It's meat-and-potatoes DISTURBED."

David also discussed DISTURBED's apparent decision to pursue a more aggressive musical approach on its next LP compared to "Evolution", on which nearly half the songs were either acoustic or semi-acoustic.

"It's a different sort of itch you're scratching," he said. "You can have the satisfaction that comes with, let's say, playing with your children peacefully somewhere and you can have a different sort of satisfaction in engaging in full-contact football with your buddies. It's just a different feel. They're both equally as gratifying but sometimes you just get a little taste more for one than the other. And right now we are definitely — we've got our teeth dug in to that style. We were dying to do the more aggressive stuff. We wanted to go back home. We wanted to go back to the 'groove so hard that you can't stop bobbing your head' kind of stuff. So, we're there, and we're loving it."

Prior to DISTURBED's appearance at Welcome To Rockville, Draiman told Lou Brutus of HardDrive Radio that the band will likely do things slightly differently with the upcoming release. "The way that I see it happening is we're probably not gonna put out something in the traditional full-length; we're probably gonna be doing two separate releases," he explained. "So we'll probably have one geared for release — if everything works as planned — by the fall, and then maybe something the following year as well." When Brutus asked Draiman to clarify if that means that the next DISTURBED release will be an EP, David said: "Define it what you want, but it would like five or six songs at a pop — something like that.

"We live in an environment right now and in an age where people's consumption of music has been very soundbitish and very track-driven and very single-driven," he continued. "And there's definitely some beauty towards continuing to try and [make] things like concept records and telling a long story over the duration of a series of songs — there's huge merit to that — but I think that when you write 10 songs and three of them actually get worked at radio and maybe, if you're lucky, the fans are really familiar with half the record and the rest ends up sitting on a shelf, and if you do end up pulling it out one day, it's like an obscure, weird moment during the set, and it's almost like gratuitous for yourself. I don't wanna do that anymore. I wanna make everything count. I wanna make sure that we get the biggest bang for everything we're putting out there. I think that that should be easily attainable. It seems to be where the environment is going, and it seems to be — whether we like it or not — what the digital age has funneled us into."

DISTURBED performed live for the first time in nearly two years in late September as one of the headliners of the Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, Kentucky.

In March 2021, DISTURBED's "The Sickness 20th Anniversary Tour" was officially canceled. The amphitheater tour, with very special guest STAIND and BAD WOLVES, was originally slated to take place in the summer of 2020 but was rescheduled to 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. It was eventually scrapped altogether.

"The Sickness 20th Anniversary Tour" was supposed to celebrate the 20th anniversary of DISTURBED's seminal album "The Sickness". On this tour, the band was expected to perform songs off the album, as well as tracks from "Evolution" and DISTURBED's extensive catalog.

In September 2020, DISTURBED released a cover version of Sting's 1993 single "If I Ever Lose My Faith In You".

RUDOLF SCHENKER On His Brother MICHAEL SCHENKER: 'He Can Say Whatever He Wants To Say'

RUDOLF SCHENKER On His Brother MICHAEL SCHENKER: 'He Can Say Whatever He Wants To Say'

SCORPIONS guitarist Rudolf Schenker has once again responded to criticism from his brother Michael after the former UFO axeman accused him of being a "dangerous bully" who "takes advantage" his younger sibling.

Michael Schenker gave a number of interviews in recent years in which he questioned his brother's integrity, going so far as to call Rudolf "a con artist" who "completely adopted" Michael's image as his own. He also denounced the SCORPIONS for "distorting" the story of his brief tenure with the band and lamented the fact that he gave Rudolf his "portion" of the songwriting credit for the classic SCORPIONS song "Coast To Coast". It all came to light, Michael said, when he was approached to help with the recent 50th-anniversary SCORPIONS reissues.

In a brand new interview with Guitar Player magazine, Rudolf — who is seven years older than Michael — said: "I tell you one thing: I love my brother. He can say whatever he wants to say. He's an amazing guitar player, an amazing person — whatever he wants to say, why not say it? [Laughs] If that is what makes him happy, then okay. I wish him all the best.

"I think, sooner or later, we will all be friends again and we will play together again. My life is too happy to put myself into a dustbin over it. I want to live in the sky. I am so happy for my life."

This is not the first time Rudolf has publicly addressed Michael's scathing comments about him. Three years ago, Rudolf dismissed his brother's criticism, telling Classic Rock magazine: "Look, I love my brother. He's a fantastic guitar player but he knows nothing about business. When we made 'Lovedrive', the band was under contract to Dieter Dierks [producer and manager]. When I asked Michael to play a solo to my composition 'Coast To Coast', we agreed a half-and-half credit, but Dieter wouldn't allow it — this related to publishing and studio costs. Michael had a signed contract with Dieter that gave him one point on the song. And we agreed to pay Michael… he had the money."

He continued: "But in 1985, when [Michael] was completely smashed and had a new MSG with Robin McAuley, Michael lived with me in my house. We flew in musicians, I did all of that for nothing on the understanding that Michael would pay me when a record label came in. But he didn't pay me anything. So I took his half to cover the bills he hadn't paid. Everything is clear. All Michael has to do is ask: 'What's happening here?' But he doesn't; instead, he gives these stupid interviews."

Rudolf added: "I still love my brother but he has always hated business matters and the only person that's to blame here is himself."

Michael has repeatedly said that he has no intention of reconnecting with his older brother, telling Spain's Metal Journal in a 2021 interview: "I love Rudolf as a brother, but social distance is needed, so I don't get tricked into any further inconvenient situation. Rudolf is a bully, and I don't connect with bullies. It creates turbulence, and it's inconvenient… I don't wanna be controlled by them. I have established myself in a way that I don't wanna be tricked into more inconvenient situations. The moment I connect with Rudolf — you have to understand — it will carry on just the way it did when I was 15, and it will never stop. He's a trickster.

"Rudolf and I, we have been separated for 50 years," Michael continued. "We have never actually spent any time together except for the tour dates in the [SCORPIONS] 'Lonesome Crow' period, but that's it. So we're used to that anyway.

"I hope for Rudolf to find his way back to understanding what true life is about. [He's] chasing something that gives you something that in the end is not gonna make you happy, which is fame and money, et cetera, et cetera. It rarely makes anybody happy. I mean, sometimes it kills people — too much fame, it kills people; they just die. And so I don't wanna be involved in that world."

Michael Schenker first appeared on SCORPIONS' 1972 album "Lonesome Crow", earned acclaim in the 1970s on classic UFO albums such as "Phenomenon" and "Lights Out" before rejoining SCORPIONS for 1979's "Lovedrive". He departed soon thereafter to launch MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP. And while his sometimes-erratic behavior have derailed parts of his career, Schenker remains one of hard rock and metal's most influential axemen.

GREYLOTUS Premier "Azure Rain" Music Video

GREYLOTUS Premier "Azure Rain" Music Video

Baltimore progressive tech-death metal quintet, Greylotus, have released the first single from their new album. The music video for "Azure Rain, can be found below.

Speaking about their new album, the band comments: "Dawnfall serves as a follow-up statement to the Savior EP, which dealt with thrusting inner demons borne of trauma and mental health struggles out into the open, and accepting the reality of existing with them.

In the metaphor of the lotus’ life-cycle, Savior represented the stage in which the seed is buried under the mud - shelled in, unaware, and unable to budge from what it has known. Dawnfall embodies the process of breaking out of the shell and traveling toward the sun’s light, reaching through murky waters and currents, struggling to separate True North from tricks of the refracted light.

Dawnfall’explores the self-doubt that accompanies the realization that healing is a non-linear process. It wanders through the pits of self-judgment and confronts what follows when an individual accepts that the best version of themselves is not constrained by perfection."

Dawnfall will see a July 8 release via The Artisan Era.

Dawnfall tracklisting:

"Rectilinear Motion"
"Shadow Archetype"
"Currents"
"Chiaroscuro"

SAXON Releases Lyric Video For 'Super Nova'

SAXON Releases Lyric Video For 'Super Nova'

British heavy metal legends SAXON have released the official lyric video for their new song "Super Nova". The track is taken from the band's latest album, "Carpe Diem".

Produced by Andy Sneap (JUDAS PRIEST, EXODUS, ACCEPT) at Backstage Recording Studios in Derbyshire with singer Biff Byford and Sneap mixing and mastering, "Carpe Diem" strikes the ear as one of the most essential British metal statements of the last few years and not lacking in pace or bite, an album which will ignite the joy in stalwart supporters and attract a whole new legion to the SAXON fold.

Sneap, himself a guitarist and producer of some metal repute, ensures that "Carpe Diem" does not lack one ounce of grit or sharpness. "Andy's obviously a very good guitarist," said Biff, "but he's not a blues-based guitarist like our guys are; he's more of a modern-style player. And that means the boys (Paul Quinn and Doug Scarratt) love working with him because, again, it's all about the intensity. Andy's always pushing the envelope; he doesn't let them get away with anything. They have to play it for real, full speed. He gets great sound, and we want that Gibson/Marshall '80s sound even if they’re not Gibsons and Marshalls. We try and retain that British metal guitar sound that we created for SAXON, and he's definitely an '80s child."

The genesis of "Carpe Diem"'s fierce intensity lies in two extremely significant life events.

"It's been a difficult two years," offered Biff with considerable understatement, "because I had the heart attack back in September 2019, so things went a bit pear-shaped for the band. And then COVID hit two or three months later, but luckily, we started writing and recording this album before COVID. We did the drums in Germany and we did the guitars in various places. I was doing a lot of writing while I was in the hospital bed, and we spent quite a long time writing and arranging the ideas that we all had. I do think it's a very intense album, and maybe some of that intensity comes from the frustration of not being able to do anything in the COVID period."

Regarding his expectations for "Carpe Diem", Biff said: "We want every album we make to go platinum. We never make an album that we don't expect to be fantastic because there are no laurels around here, and as a band, we're always trying to do something a little bit new, a little bit daring. I love fast metal like 'Princess Of The Night' and '20,000 Feet', and I try and bring that style of SAXON into the music now, but in a more modern style. We don't sound like an old band on records because we're not sitting back on our past success, we're always trying to make a great album."

APOCALYPTICA Is 'Starting To Talk About' Next Studio Album

APOCALYPTICA Is 'Starting To Talk About' Next Studio Album

Eicca Toppinen of Finnish cello metallers APOCALYPTICA spoke to Mexico's Summa Inferno about his band's plans for a follow-up to 2020's "Cell-0" LP. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "We have started to talk about the next possible album. But in the meanwhile, we've been recording individual songs so we could release something constantly. So now we have already [planned out the] three next releases after [the recent single] 'I'll Get Through It'. We're gonna have something for the later [part] of the year as well; we're gonna have something for the winter. So we are working on different fields — on the instrumental field, on some special fields and then also on the vocal field.

"I would guess we'll start to write for the new album," he continued. "We've been starting to talk about what it could be, what would be exciting to do for us, but [those discussions have] not [gone] very far yet. Because the mindset is now we're doing the 'Cell-0' tour. And it's not that easy at the same time to get very high inspiration and motivation to write a new album, because writing a new album and recording it is a huge process; it takes a lot of time [and] a lot of energy. So, now we have so much touring that it's not possible to do it now. But I think we [will be] starting on it [soon]."

Released last month, "I'll Get Through It" was written for APOCALYPTICA by American award-winning songwriter Diane Warren. It features Franky Perez — guest vocalist in APOCALYPTICA's 2015 record "Shadowmaker" — as well as Geezer Butler of BLACK SABBATH on bass guitar.

The song was born out of a visit Geezer and Franky paid to their friend Diane, who had already written the track "Not Strong Enough" for APOCALYPTICA, included in their 2010 record "7th Symphony".

"Franky and I were visiting my friend, Diane Warren, at her studio," commented Geezer. "She played us this song, saying that she thought it would work well with Franky's voice. He gave it a try on the spot. We loved it. Franky then suggested sending it to APOCALYPTICA. They loved it, and the rest is history."

Perez shared the same feeling of enthusiasm upon hearing the track for the first time. "I knew this song was special from the moment Diane Warren played it for Geezer and me," he said. "So much so, that I framed the lyrics from the session the very next day. They have been hanging on my wall ever since. This song speaks to me lyrically which made for an honest performance. Musically, there is no better collaboration than Geezer and APOCALYPTICA to do the song the justice it deserves. I feel very fortunate to be a part of it."

"I'll Get Through It" marks the first collaboration between APOCALYPTICA and Perez since he sang on "Shadowmaker", which adds to the excitement for the members of APOCALYPTICA, according to Perttu Kivilaakso. "We are more than thrilled working with our great and talented friend Franky Perez again!" he said. "It's been a while since our previous collaborations in 'Shadowmaker' album and tour, and we are also highly awaiting for getting back on road with him this April all across the States!"

Perttu also added about the song: "'I'll Get Through It' is a meaningful and beautiful song by an incredible songwriter Diane Warren, with whom we've also had the pleasure of working with before. We can't wait for you to hear the final result… falling in love again with Franky's sensual performance, Geezer's earthshakingly powerful bass, and our wistfully haunting cellos, among the inevitable presence of all the rhythms and groove!

"We hope you'll enjoy the track as much as we do! Gonna be a blast performing it also live!"

2015's "Shadowmaker" was APOCALYPTICA's first album to feature just one singer — Perez — instead of guest collaborators. The disc was recorded with Grammy Award-winning producer Nick Raskulinecz (FOO FIGHTERS, DEFTONES, MASTODON).

Prior to enlisting Perez, who is accompanying APOCALYPTICA on the band's 2022 North American tour, the group released eight albums that melded the classically trained cello mastery of the three core bandmembers with the harder elements of the rock world, including drums and guest vocalists, such as Gavin Rossdale from BUSH, and Corey Taylor of SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR fame.

APOCALYPTICA's "The Cell-0 Tour" of North America was set to begin in May 2020 before being moved back to early 2021 and to late summer 2021 and then finally to April/May 2022. The trek features support from LACUNA COIL.

In April 2021, APOCALYPTICA released the official music video for its collaboration with PAPA ROACH singer Jacoby Shaddix on a cover version of the CREAM classic "White Room". The track was produced by Howard Benson at West Valley Recording Studios in Woodland Hills, California and mixed by Chris Lorde-Alge.

"White Room" was the first release from APOCALYPTICA since "Talk To Me", which arrived in August 2020. That song was a collaboration with HALESTORM frontwoman Lzzy Hale.

"Cell-0" came out in January 2020. The effort was the band's first fully instrumental record in 17 years.

Back in 2018, Toppinen stated about APOCALYPTICA's decision to make an all-instrumental album at this point in the group's career: "On the previous ones, we always combined the instrumental songs with the vocal songs, and it was great to have the featuring artists, it was great to work with Frank Perez for the 'Shadowmaker' album. But then, on the other hand, it became a bigger interest for us, like, okay, it would be interesting to make a full instrumental album, so there's no compromise with anything."

Watch: JUDAS PRIEST Plays Final Show Of 2022 North American Tour In Hamilton, Ontario, Canada

Watch: JUDAS PRIEST Plays Final Show Of 2022 North American Tour In Hamilton, Ontario, Canada

Fan-filmed video of the final show of JUDAS PRIEST's 2022 North American tour, which concluded last night (Wednesday, April 13) at FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, can be seen below. The trek kicked off on March 4 at Peoria Civic Center in Peoria, Illinois and featured support from QUEENSRŸCHE.

PRIEST is scheduled to launch a European tour on June 3 in Gdańsk, Poland. The trek will run through August 4 at the Wacken Open Air festival in Wacken, Germany.

The British heavy metal legends were forced to cancel their April 4 concert at Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell in Lowell, Massachusetts after singer Rob Halford came down with "a bit of a cold," according to JUDAS PRIEST guitarist Richie Faulkner.

PRIEST returned to the live stage on April 7 at Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. It marked the band's first performance since April 2 when PRIEST played at the Premier Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut.

Fans who attended PRIEST's concert in Mashantucket reported that Halford seemed to be feeling sick and was struggling to hit the high notes during the band's set, as evidenced in some of the fan-filmed video clips which have since surfaced online.

Halford recently publicly revealed that he battled prostate cancer during the pandemic. He previously mentioned his cancer battle in the new chapter added to the updated paperback edition of his autobiography, "Confess". In "Confess", Halford revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer after experiencing symptoms for at least a couple of years.

In July 2020, Rob underwent prostatectomy, an operation where the entire prostate gland is removed plus some of the tissue around it, including the seminal vesicles. After more cancer was found last year, he went through radiation treatments in April and May 2021 and eventually got then all-clear in June 2021. He also had an appendectomy after a tumor was discovered on his appendix.

Faulkner suffered an acute cardiac aortic dissection during the band's performance at the Louder Than Life festival in late September. Faulkner was rushed to the UofL Health - Jewish Hospital where the cardiothoracic surgery team needed approximately 10 hours to complete a life-saving surgery.

PRIEST guitarist Glenn Tipton was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease eight years ago after being stricken by the condition at least half a decade earlier. Tipton announced in early 2018 he was going to sit out touring activities in support of "Firepower". He was replaced by "Firepower" producer Andy Sneap, who is also known for his work in NWOBHM revivalists HELL and cult thrash outfit SABBAT.

Watch: SHINEDOWN Pays Tribute To TAYLOR HAWKINS With Cover Of FOO FIGHTERS' 'Wheels'

Watch: SHINEDOWN Pays Tribute To TAYLOR HAWKINS With Cover Of FOO FIGHTERS' 'Wheels'

SHINEDOWN has performing a cover of FOO FIGHTERS' "Wheels" during its current tour as a tribute to FF drummer Taylor Hawkins, who died last month while on tour in Colombia. Fan-filmed video of SHINEDOWN's Zach Myers, Eric Bass and Barry Kerch playing the track during their April 11 headlining concert at Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota can be seen below. Myers handled lead vocals for the song, which was originally recorded for FOO FIGHTERS' "Greatest Hits" album with producer Butch Vig.

Hawkins was found dead on March 25 at the Four Seasons Casa Medina hotel in Bogota.

An official cause of death for Hawkins hasn't yet been released. But on March 26, Colombia's attorney general's office released a preliminary toxicology report, saying that medical examiners found evidence of 10 types of substances in Hawkins's body, including opioids, benzodiazepines, marijuana and antidepressants.

When Taylor's death was first announced, Myers took to social media to share a photo of the drummer and he wrote: "If you’ve ever wondered about the impact one human could make on an entire community, look at your timeline today …. It's filled with this man … who was one of the nicest, coolest and most talented people on this earth …. You'll be sorely missed … Our love and thoughts and prayers go to the Hawkins family and the FOO's."

Hawkins joined FOO FIGHTERS in 1997. Prior to that, he played with the Orange County band SYLVIA and was also in the backing band for Sass Jordan. He also toured with Alanis Morissette as her drummer.

Hawkins was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame last year as a member of the FOO FIGHTERS.

Hawkins's most recent work with FOO FIGHTERS included last year's "Medicine At Midnight" album, a collection of BEE GEES covers and FOO FIGHTERS' horror film "Studio 666".

Earlier this week, SHINEDOWN decided to move the release date of its new album, "Planet Zero", to July 1 from the previously announced April 22 due to delays in physical production of vinyl and CDs. The high-concept, ultra-vivid, viscerally charged album, which sees SHINEDOWN taking on the forces that keep us divided at a time when we need to be coming together, was produced by Bass (who also helmed the band's 2018 acclaimed album "Attention Attention") and recorded at Bass's newly built Big Animal Studio in South Carolina.

MEGADETH's DAVE MUSTAINE: 'If You Don't Like What I'm Saying, F**k You'

MEGADETH's DAVE MUSTAINE: 'If You Don't Like What I'm Saying, F**k You'

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has blasted people who object to his stage banter, saying they shouldn't be attending his band's concerts anyway.

The 60-year-old guitarist/vocalist, who has a history of making wacky political conjectures, made his comments during MEGADETH's performance last night (Tuesday, April 12) at Broadmoor World Arena in Colorado Springs, Colorado as part of the group's "The Metal Tour Of The Year" with LAMB OF GOD.

Mustaine said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "The last couple of nights I've been talking from the stage. It's been a long time, and we've all been waiting for live music again. And there's some people who have taken exception to some things that I've said from the stage the last couple of nights. And I thought to myself, 'Well, if you don't like what I'm saying, why are you at a MEGADETH concert?' If you don't like what I'm saying, fuck you. First Amendment, right? Freedom of speech. Fuck you. That's what I say. Don't take shit from anybody ever."

Just two days earlier, during MEGADETH's concert on Sunday (April 10) at the Tucson Arena in Tucson, Arizona, Mustaine claimed that he "peed on the floor" of the White House bathroom three decades ago. The musician, who went to the White House in 1992 with the "Rock The Vote" campaign for the Democratic National Convention coverage, told the audience that he was "proud" to represent the metal community, before adding: "When I went up to the White House, I was so proud to be able to go up there and say, 'Fuck you. You think we're stupid? We are not stupid, motherfuckers.' By the way, when I went into the White House, I went into the royal — whatever the fuck it's called — White House bathroom, and I peed on the floor. I had to. I had to."

James LoMenzo is playing bass for MEGADETH on the second U.S. leg of "The Metal Tour Of The Year". LoMenzo joined MEGADETH in 2006 and appeared on two of the group's studio albums, 2007's "United Abominations" and 2009's "Endgame". He was fired from the band in 2010 and replaced with returning original MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson.

In addition to MEGADETH, LoMenzo has played with Ozzy Osbourne, Zakk Wylde and WHITE LION. For the past nine years, LoMenzo has been performing with iconic rocker John Fogerty.

LoMenzo played his first show with MEGADETH in nearly 12 years last August in Austin, Texas. The concert took place three months following Ellefson's dismissal from MEGADETH after sexually tinged messages and explicit video footage involving him were posted on Twitter.

MEGADETH's new album, "The Sick, The Dying, And The Dead", is tentatively due on July 8. The follow-up to 2016's "Dystopia" features a cover of DEAD KENNEDYS' "Police Truck" and Sammy Hagar's "This Planet's On Fire", the latter of which includes vocals from Hagar himself.

The bass tracks on "The Sick, The Dying, And The Dead" were laid down by Steve DiGiorgio, widely renowned as a pioneer on the fretless bass in heavy metal music, having played with TESTAMENT, DEATH and SADUS, among others. Within his genre, Steve is respected for his playing skills, versatility and incredible technique. He has more than 40 studio album recordings and over 20 years of touring the world.

There had been speculation about DiGiorgio's involvement in the new MEGADETH LP since last July, based on a Cameo video Mustaine recorded in which he offered the first glimpse of the bassist that re-recorded Ellefson's bass tracks on the much-anticipated MEGADETH effort.

VOLBEAT Releases Music Video For 'Temple Of Ekur'

VOLBEAT Releases Music Video For 'Temple Of Ekur'

Danish/American rock and rollers VOLBEAT have released the official music video for the song "Temple Of Ekur". The clip, which was directed by Shan Dan and VisualHype, can be seen below.

"Temple Of Ekur" is taken from VOLBEAT's eighth studio album, "Servant Of The Mind", which was released in December via Republic Records.

Revolver called "Servant Of The Mind" "excellent… the darkest and heaviest VOLBEAT offering yet." For the LP, the band, which consists of Michael Poulsen (guitar, vocals), Larsen, Rob Caggiano (guitars) and Kaspar Boye Larsen (bass), took its signature heavy metal, psychobilly and punk 'n' roll sound up a notch while showcasing Poulsen's keen ability for songwriting and storytelling. "Rarely has such a successful band sounded so ravenous," says Kerrang! magazine of the album.

"Servant Of The Mind" was written and recorded during the shutdown and quarantine necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The LP includes the "double barrel" of summer songs the band released last June: "Wait A Minute My Girl" and "Dagen Før" (featuring Stine Bramsen), the former of which became the band's ninth number one single on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart.

For "Servant Of The Mind", the band took its signature heavy metal, psychobilly and punk 'n' roll sound up a notch while showcasing Poulsen's keen ability for songwriting and storytelling.

"I wrote the whole album in three months," recalled Poulsen, "I was in a good place and mood while at home, and had a captive audience of myself… There are a lot of VOLBEAT signatures in it. If you go back to the first record and compare it to where we are now, you can hear how the band has developed its style, while keeping the signature sound."

Previously released single "Shotgun Blues" is an anthemic track in which Poulsen explores the ghostly events he recently experienced upon moving into a new home. Other songs on the album weave intricate and fascinating tales. "The Sacred Stones" tells the story of "an earthly being who has committed himself to the dark side. He is on a mission, speaking to darker forces and fallen angels." Meanwhile, "The Devil Rages On" looks at the idea of the devil taking human form. The aforementioned album opener "Temple Of Ekur" returns to the ancient themes explored in past songs such as "The Gates Of Babylon", while the epic album closer "Lasse's Birgita" explores the story of the first witch burnings to occur in Sweden in 1471.

DEREK SHERINIAN's New Album 'Vortex' To Feature MICHAEL SCHENKER, ZAKK WYLDE, NUNO BETTENCOURT, Others

DEREK SHERINIAN's New Album 'Vortex' To Feature MICHAEL SCHENKER, ZAKK WYLDE, NUNO BETTENCOURT, Others

World-acclaimed keyboardist Derek Sherinian (SONS OF APOLLO, BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION), one of the most significant keyboard players of the modern era, will release a new album, "Vortex", on July 1 via InsideOut Music. Returning alongside Sherinian is legendary drummer Simon Phillips, who once again co-wrote and co-produced the album, as well as Tony "The Fretless Monster" Franklin on bass.

Sherinian comments: "I am very happy to announce the release my new album 'Vortex'. Simon and I always try and out do ourselves with every release, and I am confident we achieved our goal."

The follow-up to 2020's "The Phoenix", "Vortex" includes eight tracks built on his signature chameleonic sound that blends rock with elements of funk, prog, and jazz, which he started writing even before "The Phoenix" was finished. "'Vortex' is a continuation of 'The Phoenix'," Sherinian states. "However, I feel the composition is stronger on the new album, and I would describe it as a modern-day '70s-style fusion record, but with newer heavier tonality."

When it came to guitars, Sherinian recruited a who's who of great players, some of whom he had worked with before — Steve Stevens, Joe Bonamassa, Steve Lukather, Zakk Wylde, his SONS OF APOLLO bandmate Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal — and a few new allies, in the form of Michael Schenker, Mike Stern and Nuno Bettencourt. "The choice of guitarist works itself out in the writing," he explains. "Also, like in the case of Steve Stevens, we co-wrote the song together, so it was natural for him to play on it." Of his new collaborators, he says of Bettencourt, who appears on the scratchy "Fire Horse": "I have always been a fan of his playing, and I am glad that we finally got to record together. He has the Van Halen swing and swagger to his playing that I love. We were both born in 1966, the Chinese year of the Fire Horse."

According to Sherinian, Schenker's inclusion was a no-brainer. "Michael Schenker has been one of my heroes for many years," Derek says. "He asked me to play on his 'Immortal' album, and in return, he agreed to play on 'Die Kobra'. I wanted to write a great song inspired by my favorite Schenker tracks. Zakk Wylde added some great additional parts to the song, and Tony Franklin and Simon Phillips sound great, as usual."

"Vortex" track listing:

01. The Vortex (feat. Steve Stevens)

02. Fire Horse (feat. Nuno Bettencourt)

03. Scorpion

04. Seven Seas (feat. Steve Stevens)

05. Key Lime Blues (feat. Joe Bonamassa, Steve Lukather)

06. Die Kobra (feat. Michael Schenker, Zakk Wylde)

07. Nomad's Land (feat. Mike Stern)

08. Aurora Australis (feat. Bumblefoot)

Sherinian has more than made a name for himself. After all, Music Radar deemed him "a true shredder," adding that "his virtuoso playing has seen him dubbed the keyboard-playing version of Eddie Van Halen" in 2020. Moreover, in 2021 he was voted "Greatest Keyboardist Of The 21st Century" and the eighth "Greatest Keyboardist Of All Time" by the same site, and Prog magazine saw him voted the ninth "Greatest Keyboardist Ever". But then you don't rack up a resumé such as his without some serious chops, having worked with the likes of DREAM THEATER, BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION, Billy Idol, WHITESNAKE — David Coverdale stating in 2020 "Derek plays like the son of Jon Lord" — KISS, his current band SONS OF APOLLO and Alice Cooper, who in 1989 called him the "Caligula of keyboards."

MOTIONLESS IN WHITE Releases Music Video For New Single 'Masterpiece'

MOTIONLESS IN WHITE Releases Music Video For New Single 'Masterpiece'

MOTIONLESS IN WHITE will release its new album, "Scoring The End Of The World", on June 10 via Roadrunner Records. The official Max Moore-directed music video for the LP's second single, "Masterpiece", can be seen below.

Last month, the Scranton, Pennsylvania quintet shared the first single "Cyberhex", along with an official music video directed by the band's guitarist Ricky Olson and Logan Beaver.

In an interview with Rock 100.5 The KATT's Cameron Buchholtz, MOTIONLESS IN WHITE frontman Chris "Motionless" Cerulli stated about "Cyberhex": "We were trying to decide what was the first song, and it was interesting that everybody in the band all felt the same way. Normally when you're working with labels, they wanna put out the song that's like the big radio song or the easier digestible track, whatever, and we just never really wanted to do that. And even though there were moments when we've been, unfortunately, kind of forced to do that, this time I feel like we're in a spot in our career where we're just, like, 'No. We're gonna go ahead and do what we want.' And we had a good track record of doing what we want versus what other people influence us to want to do, and this song is definitely on pace to really help the album and the whole rollout. So it feels really cool.

"The next track we put out will definitely be more like 'Another Life' and 'Voices'-type track," he continued, apparently referencing "Masterpiece". "I can understand why a label would want that, because if you look at our… Just go to Spotify — I mean, 'Another Life' and 'Voices'… 'Another Life' has double the amount of plays as the next highest song, which is 'Voices', and then the next highest song is 'Brand New Numb'. So, very obviously, people can say that they want the heavy tracks and we're going to deliver that, but the songs like 'Another Life' are really, at this point, I guess you would say our bread and butter, 'cause that's what people want. So, for us, it's, like, let's start it off really hot and really heavy and then we'll switch over to the more, like, here's the singalong track that just hits you hard and… We'll take a little break from the heavy. And we'll circulate back. That's what we do."

When "Cyberhex" was first released, Cerulli said: "'Cyberhex' is my love letter to you, our fans, for everything you have done for me over the course of some of the most mentally taxing few years I've had to go through. At times where I felt like my world was ending, as well as the world around us, it was always in my mind that I was able to turn to the special relationship we have created together for help, and I cannot thank you enough for that. Outside of my own personal experiences, it has been equally as fulfilling to me to see that in the face of tireless forces that continue to try and perpetuate hatred and negativity towards so many of us coexisting on this planet, we have all stood together to resist and fight back knowing that love and compassion will always prevail. We ARE the resistance. We ARE Cyberhex. I love you. Thank you."

"Scoring The End Of The World" fully encompasses the expanse of MOTIONLESS IN WHITE's dynamic, deep, and dark vision, and marks the band's first full-length body of work in three years since 2019's "Disguise". The latter has quietly made a major impact on rock music and culture. The single "Another Life" stands out as their most-streamed song ever with over 23 million YouTube views on the music video. The record claimed a spot on Loudwire's "50 Best Metal Albums of 2019," plus it ignited the creative renaissance that would set the stage for the statement-making "Scoring The End Of The World".

Last month, MOTIONLESS IN WHITE kicked off a massive triple co-headline North American tour. Dubbed the "Trinity Of Terror" tour, the run features the unholy triumvirate of MOTIONLESS IN WHITE, BLACK VEIL BRIDES and ICE NINE KILLS and is the first time ever that fans get to see all three bands on the same stage each night. The coast-to-coast outing, which sees the three bands alternating closing sets each night, launched on March 17 in Mesa, Arizona and is making stops in Los Angeles, Chicago, Salt Lake City, Philadelphia, and more, before wrapping up with a performance at Norfolk's Chartway Arena on April 27.

Last year, MOTIONLESS IN WHITE unleashed the standalone single "Timebomb". It has gathered 5.7 million Spotify streams and 1.6 million YouTube views on the music video. Earning critical acclaim, Loudwire hailed it as "dark but uplifting — and heavy," and Kerrang! urged, "prepare your neck."
