THE 69 EYES Singer JYRKI 69 To Release American Vampire Album In December; Title Track Music Video StreamingGoth metal icon Jyrki 69, best known as the baritone crooner for Helsinki metal superheroes The 69 Eyes but also seen earlier this year ripping it up with his gothabilly side project The 69 Cats, is ready to sink his teeth into the supple necks of music audiences around with world with his brand new solo album, American Vampire, the follow-up to his debut solo effort, 2017’s Helsinki Vampire.
Mixing both cover tunes and original tracks, the new album finds Jyrki teaming up with several renegade collaborators including fellow Nordic rocker Tim Skold (of the metal outfit Shotgun Messiah and industrial projects Skold and Not My God), Billy Idol guitarist Steve Stevens, indie experimentalists Xiu Xiu, pop music queen Tiffany and many more. The album's first single, a bone-chilling version of the psychedelic classic “White Rabbit” featuring virtuosic guitar work from Stevens, has already been released digitally and on 7”.
But now the first original track from the album is being released, just in time to haunt your dreams this Halloween. Both written and recorded with Skold, “American Vampire” might be the album’s clearest expression of purpose, opening with dark ambient keyboards before kicking into a massive metal riff and Jyrki’s opening word “Blood!” It’s a haunting, spine-tingling track with cinematic ambitions, as Jyrki explains, “American Vampire is a character somewhere between Vampire Lestat and Tony “Scarface” Montana. Whenever they make a movie with that title, they already have a song for it! The music was done by Tim Skold, Hollywood legend and survivor, it was fantastic to make music with him!”
Naturally, the song is being accompanied by a gorgeously shot full-scale concept video filmed by director Vicente Cordero who has previously shot videos for both Jyrki and Skold. Watch the video below, and stream/download the single here.
American Vampire will be released December 17 on all formats including CD in a deluxe gatefold wallet, vinyl in your choice of blue or silver, and digital.
Pre-order the CD/vinyl here. Pre-order/pre-save the digital edition here.

PUSCIFER Launches PUSCIFER TVPuscifer enlarge their ever-growing Pusciverse with the advent of Puscifer TV, an online repository featuring on-demand purchases/rentals of previously unreleased concert films and rarities including Existential Reckoning: Live At Arcosanti, Billy D and The Hall Of Feathered Serpents Featuring Money $hot By Puscifer, and What Is… Puscifer.
Pre-orders for the initial slate of titles are available now at Puscifer.com. An accompanying capsule collection featuring exclusive merch items is also available via the band’s website.
November 12 releases:
Existential Reckoning: Live At Arcosanti - The record-breaking streaming event finds Puscifer performing in the heart of the Arizona desert on the eve of the release of their fourth-full length album, Existential Reckoning. Arcosanti was described by Architectural Digest as a “utopian metropolis in the Arizona desert” that “looks like the sublime set of a big-budget sci-fi movie.” A location that’s both inspirational and bewitching, as Arizona itself often is. The 48th state has played a silent, yet meaningful, partner to the musical troupe, with its vistas and deserts often appearing in the band’s music videos, as concert backdrops and as the subject of numerous lyrics.
Billy D And The Hall Of Feathered Serpents Featuring Money $hot By Puscifer - The Spring 2021 streaming event opens with Billy D trudging through the Arizona desert in what has been referred to as the Bermuda Triangle of the Southwest. A cinematic prequel to “Existential Reckoning: Live at Arcosanti,” the film finds Puscifer reprising the Luchador-infused performances surrounding their 2016 album, Money $hot. The accompanying soundtrack arrives simultaneously via the various digital service providers.
What Is… Puscifer with bonus “8-Ball Bail Bonds” mockumentary - A limited-edition DVD release from 2013, the two-hour sketch comedy show-meets-concert film builds upon and punctuates the multimedia format of the band’s live performances with skits from an array of Puscifer characters including Billy D, Hildy and Major Douche interwoven into performance footage from the band.

MUNICIPAL WASTE Re-Sign With Nuclear BlastFollowing a decade of wreaking havoc together, Virginian metal maniacs Municipal Waste and Nuclear Blast have officially re-signed a worldwide deal that will extend the Nuclear-Waste union for years to come.
To date, co-conspirators' partnership has spawned some of the best crossover thrash of the last 20 years with 2 studio records, 2012's The Fatal Feast and 2017's Slime And Punishment, and an EP, 2019's The Last Rager, and they're only getting started. The band recently wrapped work on their eagerly awaited, 7th full-length album that's scheduled to be unleashed in 2022. Further details to be unveiled in the coming months.
The band comments on the re-signing:
"When we were asked about re-signing to Nuclear Blast only 2 words came to mind... no brainer! Having such a long history with an amazing label that’s been nothing but supportive made it an easy decision on our part. Looking forward to many records and even more years with The Blast!!! And an extra special thanks to everyone in the warehouse and offices all over for agreeing to stick it out with us for the years to come. Cheers NB and the Waste!" - Tony Foresta (vocals)
“We couldn’t think of a more suitable place for the Waste than our radioactive family at Nuclear Blast. They’ve always given us complete creative freedom and challenged us to push it to the limit with our deranged ideas. As the music business changes with the times, we trust that our vision remains unfazed by trends and our label backs us up with full force.” - Ryan Waste (guitarist)
“I think I can say that working with Nuclear Blast has been a pleasure from start to finish. Moving forward with them has been a no brainer, it is also a privilege to be on the same label as many MANY other fantastic bands! Looking forward to bringing more music to the world with Nuclear Blast!” - Land Phil (bassist)
“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it ya know? I’m so happy we extended our relationship with Nuclear Blast. They understand what we’re all about and it was a no brainer to re-sign. Their dedication to metal combined with the history the label makes NB the perfect home for us.” - Dave Witte (drummer)
Nuclear Blast General Manager, Gerardo Martinez, adds: “Time flies when you are having fun! I remember signing the band ten years ago and having the greatest feeling as we had been friends for a while. The fact that ten years later we are renewing our partnership is just a true testament to the dedication the band has and the level of badassery they have by continuing to deliver incredible music for all of us, their fans. Nuclear Blast is proud to continue the path we’ve both have created…Here’s to at least another 100 more years together!"
Municipal Waste are preparing for one of hell of a year with the impending album release and upcoming tours with Crowbar, Circle Jerks and Anthrax. Get Wasted with metal's best mutant thrash band at a venue near you! Purchase tickets here.

FIREWIND Unleash "New Found Power" Single And Music Video"New Found Power", the title of their new single and music video, perfectly describes the current spirit of Greek power metal masters, Firewind.
The band’s latest incarnation, since 2019, of course led by former Ozzy Osbourne axeman Gus G. is fronted by singer Herbie Langhans (Avantasia), a powerhouse vocalist par excellence. Langhans‘ addition to the group’s ranks gave a new kind of energy to Firewind and after the release of the band’s latest (self-titled) album in May 2020, now the new single, "New Found Power", continues the Firewind legacy with a heavy, uplifting power metal track of highest quality.
"New Found Power" will also be part of the AFM Records label compilation, 25 Years Metal Addiction, which includes 30 rare or previously unreleased tracks and comes as 2CD digipak (out October 29).
"We recently met in our rehearsal room in Thessaloniki, Greece, to film what we all missed so much: playing together. That’s why the 'New Found Power' music video comes without fancy effects or anything: it’s just the four of us playing this cool new song and embracing it", Gus G. comments. "We really hope to see all our fans on the upcoming 20th anniversary tour. It’s been way too long and we can’t wait to celebrate 20 years of Firewind with a wild ride through our history."

RUSH's ALEX LIFESON Shares Previously Unreleased Instrumental Solo Song 'Cherry Lopez Lullaby'RUSH guitarist Alex Lifeson has shared a previously unreleased instrumental song called "Cherry Lopez Lullaby". The track arrives five months after the release of two new tracks, "Kabul Blues" and "Spy House", which were made available to mark the occasion of his collaboration with Epiphone and the release of the new Alex Lifeson Epiphone Les Paul Standard Axcess guitar. Those two instrumental songs marked the first new music from Lifeson in close to a decade.
Regarding how "Cherry Lopez Lullaby" came together, Alex said: "This was written during the mix session of [RUSH's] 'Clockwork Angels' [album] while in L.A. for months starting early 2012. I did an interview with High Times and the interviewer brought along a friend, an esteemed grower who provided a sample of his creation named Cherry Lopez. Because I was on an EST body clock, I was up most mornings @ 5:00 AM. I'd order coffee, sit on my hotel room balcony, read the paper and wake and bake then dive into making some fun sounds while the city was waking up. I had some borrowed acoustic and electric guitars for the duration, thankfully, as sitting around waiting to go to the studio was tedious and certainly, a bowl of Cherry kept my appetite healthy."
Earlier this month, Lifeson, who recently completed an album's worth of material with former CONEY HATCH singer/bassist Andy Curran, was asked in an issue of Guitar Player magazine if he has any plans to play live in the near future. He responded: "I'm not really thinking about that. It's challenging enough to try to get this album out first.
"To be honest with you, I don't think I have it in me to go on the road," he continued. "I mean, if it was a handful of shows, that might be kind of fun, but anything beyond that... After 40 years of sitting in hotel rooms, I'm not interested. I've had quite enough of that. I do love my home life.
"I thought I would miss being onstage a lot more, but I don't really. I've done a couple of things here and there. Small things — usually it's a charity event or something like that. It's kind of fun getting up and playing with other people, but the whole production — the big, giant machine — it doesn't really hold much appeal to me now."
Four months ago, Lifeson spoke in more detail about his collaboration with Curran, tentatively dubbed ENVY OF NONE, in an interview with Sweetwater. At the time, he said: "Andy approached me about four years ago, shortly after the last RUSH tour, about just adding some guitar on some of the things that he was doing. And I did that. A few months later, he sent another one, and did that. And then we started getting more serious. And then we found a great singer, Maiah Wynne, from Portland, Oregon — just a fabulous, fabulous voice and a really smart songwriter and vocal performer. So we've basically done an album's worth of material that we hope to release sometime soon. I'm really excited about that."
Asked about a possible timeline for the release of his collaboration with Curran and Wynne, Alex said: "We're just working on that part of it. All the music is recorded. We are mixing currently. We're in a good place, but it's very challenging. The industry is so, so very different than it was certainly 10 years ago, never mind last year. We'll see. Hopefully late summer, early fall we might have something. But we are very, very excited about it. It's pretty cool stuff, I think."
Lifeson previously collaborated with Wynne on her 2019 solo single called "Fearless Girl", which featured Alex and the Portland Cello Project. Wynne also laid down vocals on a May 2019 collaboration between multi-instrumentalist Marco Minnemann and Lifeson titled "Lovers Calling".
RUSH drummer Neil Peart died in January 2020 in Santa Monica, California after a three-year battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. He was 67 years old.
RUSH's final show took place at the Forum in Los Angeles on August 1, 2015. Peart indicated at the time that he wanted to retire while he was still able to play well, along with a desire to spend more time at home with his young daughter.
Lifeson and bassist/vocalist Geddy Lee have repeatedly said that RUSH will never do a show unless all three musicians agree to take part. They haven't performed as RUSH without Peart since he joined the band in 1974.

KORN's JONATHAN DAVIS To Play The Villain In New Horror Movie 'The Devil's Tree'According to Bloody Disgusting, KORN singer Jonathan Davis stars in VFX artist-turned-director Joshua Petrino's independent horror film "The Devil's Tree". He will play the villain, "The Pet", in the film, which also stars Addy Miller (little girl teddy bear zombie from "The Walking Dead") and Nick Principe ("Laid To Rest").
"Jonathan did an amazing job as our villain," Petrino said. "He really helped us create a memorable character and it was a lot of fun working with him."
"The Devil's Tree" film synopsis: "After visiting a landmark tree rumored to be a gateway to hell, a group of friends holds a pitiful house party where, without explanation, they realize they mentally can't bring themselves to leave. Shortly after this revelation, torment and slaughter begin at the hands of a supernatural killer with a warped, sadistic sense of humor."
Not long after "The Devil's Tree" started being developed in 2013, Petrino told LAHorror.com about his vision for the film: "I'm a movie nerd through and through so I think everything I love and have watched over and over again will have an influence on this but fans of those films are sure to enjoy it. That is the crowd we are going for. We want to establish our characters as quickly as possible so we can get right to their downfall. Why should we bore you with a long setup, long dialogue and semantics? Let's try to make you like these poeple ASAP and then take them away from you."
He added: " All the characters are based on people I know with the exception of the killer. We've written them in a way where they could each have their own movie. I think it's important that our characters are interesting enough to deserve their time on screen. They're not really kids, to be honest. They're old friends that are kinda forced into hanging out again despite all of them growing up and going their separate ways…They aren't idiots. In fact, most of them are above average intelligence and most of them would react how any person would."

KISS Pushes Back Against Roadies' Claim Lax COVID Protocols Led To Guitar Tech's DeathKISS has pushed back against accusations of lax COVID-19 protocols on the band's ongoing "End Of The Road" U.S. tour.
The legendary rockers have released a statement defending themselves after a group of their roadies suggested to Rolling Stone magazine that the lack of COVID protocols enforced on the tour led to the death of a longtime guitar tech, 53-year-old Francis Stueber. Stueber died of coronavirus in his Detroit hotel room on October 17, just two days after being quarantined.
"We are profoundly heartbroken at the loss of Francis, he was a friend and colleague of 20 years, there is no way to replace him," KISS said in its statement. "Millions of people have lost someone special to this horrific virus and we encourage everyone to get vaccinated. Please protect yourself and your loved ones.
"Our 'End Of The Road' world tour absolutely had COVID safety protocols in place that met, but most often exceeded, federal, state, and local guidelines," the band added. "But ultimately this is still a global pandemic and there is simply no foolproof way to tour without some element of risk."
KISS's statement was issued in response to comments made by several crew members in which they detailed the lack of COVID protocols enforced on the tour. Speaking on condition of anonymity, one roadie told Rolling Stone: "I couldn't believe how unsafe it was, and that we were still going. We'd been frustrated for weeks, and by the time Fran died, I just thought, 'You have to be fucking kidding me.'"
The crew members claimed the tour didn't take strict enough safety measures, including not testing everyone regularly. In addition, some crew members allegedly disguised their illness and/or faked vaccine cards.
"Every day during the shows, we weren't tested," one of the roadies said. "And there are so many unknowns. Did we superspread this? Did we spread this thing from city to city? It's horrible that Fran passed, and it's horrible if this is our protocol just for us to tour. Is this going to be the normal, to stick someone in a hotel? And if somebody dies, 'Oh, well, off to the next guy?'"
KISS production manager Robert Long confirmed that daily testing was not implemented but insisted that he did not discourage testing.
"I never told anyone we didn't want to test them," Long told Rolling Stone. "If you wanted a test, we'd supply it. If you wanted to get tested, if you felt symptoms, if you think someone might be sick, please raise your hand. We had thermometers on every bus, sheets to write down temperatures every morning, mask boxes, and sanitizers everywhere. People were getting tested every other day, we ordered tests regularly. I'm not going to not test people; I take this shit seriously."
After Stueber died, KISS frontman Paul Stanley took to his Twitter to pay tribute his friend, writing: "My dear friend, buddy and guitar tech for 20 years, Fran Stueber died yesterday suddenly of Covid. Both on and offstage I depended on him for so much. My family loved him as did I. He was so proud of his wife and 3 boys as they were of him. I'm numb."
Stueber had worked on all KISS and Stanley solo tours and one-off shows since 2002. He even took the stage with the band during the "Gene Simmons Family Jewels" episode where KISS performed for the troops, and was on hand when Stanley cut his 2006 solo album "Live To Win". Stueber also worked behind the scenes for HEART, THE OFFSPRING and REO SPEEDWAGON's Kevin Cronin.

PAUL GILBERT Premiers "Every Christmas Has Love" Music VideoPaul Gilbert (Mr. Big, Racer X) and The Players Club / Mascot Label Group recently announced the release of a new seasonal offering titled 'TWAS. Gilbert’s 17th solo album features a dozen recordings, two of which are new, original compositions. The global release date for digital and CD is November 26th. The LP will follow on December 10th. Pre-order here.
Today, Gilbert and the label present a new music video for “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing”, which can be viewed below:
Gilbert shares: "Many will agree that in recent times, challenging events have been pouring down upon our heads like an Exploding Waterfall of Molasses. At least it sometimes feels like that to me. But while I was jamming Christmas songs with my friends, playing an assortment of red, green, and white Ibanez electric guitars, I felt like life was THE BEST. I hope that this music can put a smile on your face as well.
"Ten of the songs are classics. I was inspired by the Christmas recordings of Nat King Cole, Loretta Lynn, Stevie Wonder, Barbra Streisand, Johnny Mathis, Ella Fitzgerald, and The Ventures. And of course, inspiration came from my guitar heroes, Eddie Van Halen, Alex Lifeson, Johnny Winter, Robin Trower, Frank Marino, Pat Travers, Jimi Hendrix, and Jimmy Page, to name a few. I also wrote some of my own new Christmas songs. As I have been doing recently, I begin with lyrics and a melody. Then I let my guitar take over, as it sings better than I do."
He continues. "'Three Strings For Christmas' refers to the 3-string guitar that I used on my double-neck. I tune the strings in octaves, which allows me to play ridiculously fast arpeggios, and very little else (which is why I have a normally strung guitar for the other neck.) 'Every Christmas Has Love' was written quickly, inspired by my panic-driven mental state of album making. When I know that the recording sessions are coming, my brain shifts into survival mode, and melodies start popping out. Then I take all the chords I learned by listening to 70s AM radio, and build a song. The lyrics are nice too. I'll be printing those in the liner notes of the album. Merry Christmas to all. And to all, a good night."
Gilbert formed a band of Portland, Oregon's finest jazz and blues musicians for these sessions. The players are Dan Balmer (guitar), Clay Giberson (keyboards), Timmer Blakely (bass), and Jimi Bott (drums). He reflects, “All brought supreme musical goodness to these arrangements and performances. They certainly steered me to make wiser musical choices than I would have made on my own. And as you will hear, my metal guitar instincts still breathe fire when they get the chance.” The album was recorded in Jimi Bott's studio, who also engineered and mixed the recordings. The approach was to record two songs every day, for six days, delivering the collected body of work.
Gilbert: "All songs were recorded live, although I think Jimi snuck some cowbell overdubs in. If anything should be added to a live track, I believe cowbell is the right choice."

THE 450S Launch Music Video For New Single "Lust And Denial"The 450s have released their third advance single, “Lust And Denial”. This track is taken from the upcoming self-titled album release, The 450s, out on November 19 via Louder Than Loud Records, available for pre-order here.
The 450s is a new American rock band featuring The Rods’ Carl Canedy on drums. The lineup is completed by James Jacobs (St. James) on guitar, Robert Jacobs (St. James) on bass, Ryan Sambrook on keyboards and Rhett, a veteran of major labels, on vocals.
When the quartet got together in Miami at the time the chemistry was effortless, the resultant songs so strong that they caught the ear of legendary producer Jack Douglas (Aerosmith, Cheap Trick, Patti Smith), who went the extra mile in mixing the album, highlighting The 450’s inherent musical tension and dynamics. Chris Collier (Korn, Prong) also worked on the mixing/production, helping to hone the “modern” part of The 450’s “modern vintage” vibe.
The 450s bring an old-school band ethic to bear: No resting on laurels, no copping styles from their forefathers; no pre-fab or pre-conceived anything. “We got together in a room and turned everything up real loud,” they explain. “We jammed and recorded what came out. Ultimately, it’s “about creating this group of songs out of nowhere for no reason other than it’s what we all love to do.”
Tracklisting:

"Black Tar"
"Lucy Walk Away"
"Lust And Denial"
"Gracie Is It Heavy"

MEGADETH's DAVE MUSTAINE Says Guitarists Like MARTY FRIEDMAN And KIKO LOUREIRO Are 'Hard To Find'MEGADETH's Dave Mustaine has once again praised the band's current guitarist Kiko Loureiro, saying it him a "long" time to find someone who plays like Marty Friedman.
Mustaine touched upon Friedman and Loureiro's playing skills while filming a new video message on Cameo, which lets users hire celebrities to record brief, personalized video messages about virtually any topic.
Addressing a fan named John who had a question about Friedman's guitar solo in the MEGADETH song "Tornado Of Souls" from the band's classic 1990 album "Rust In Peace", Mustaine said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Hey, John, it's Dave Mustaine from MEGADETH. Hey, I got your question about Marty's solo in 'Tornado Of Souls'. And… What did I think about it when I first heard it? I loved it. But — you've gotta remember these songs were played before, and [former MEGADETH guitarist] Chris Poland had played on those. I'd have to listen back to Chris's solo to see how much of his performance had influenced Marty's solo.
"I guess I should say a little bit about Marty, too, and his performance, when you said that you thought it was like Picasso," he continued. "There's a lot of players out in the world that play like Marty. They're hard to find. If you're in a band and you're looking for someone like Marty Friedman, you'll see how hard it is by how long it took me to find Kiko. The other players I've had were great in between Marty, and I say that with all respect, but there's very few guys out there like Marty and Kiko."
Shortly after Loureiro's addition to MEGADETH in 2015, Mustaine called him "definitely the best guitarist we've ever had." His comments echoed those he made about the band's previous guitarist, Chris Broderick, during the latter's tenure in the band. Back in 2013, during the making of MEGADETH's "Super Collider" album, Mustaine wrote in a tweet that Chris was "without a doubt the best guitarist I've ever played with."
Mustaine told Revolver magazine that finding Loureiro "was really a mind-blower. It was the first time since Marty Friedman joined the band that I was really intimidated as a player," he said. "He's such an amazing talent, and he's been coming in with all of these fresh ideas." Mustaine added that Kiko was a good fit personality wise. "Chris [Broderick] and I had a good chemistry, but we weren't really as close as I would have wanted us to be," Mustaine explained. "Kiko, I feel like I've known him for years."
In 2009, Mustaine praised Broderick, saying in an online post: "I am going on record and I am saying unequivocally that Chris is THE BEST GUITARIST MEGADETH has ever had. And the real talented musicians in MEGADETH's alumni will agree, he is an absolute monster. I mean, he plays the catalog better than anyone did. Jeff Young never wanted to do Chris Poland's stuff, and so on, and so on, until the last guitarist we had before we disbanded over my arm injury."
Mustaine added: "It's funny, because just when I think [Broderick] can get no more outrageous, or any more thrilling with the guitar solos, he comes up with something really beautiful like Marty Friedman would do (he has Marty pretty well down pat), and then goes into the GIT styles that Jeff Young did, yet, there is still such a freshness to his playing and he is so raw, it's like having a new prize bull. And even though he ain't a such a young bull, he's definitely an old bull like me."
In the March 2008 issue of Revolver magazine, Mustaine stated about the musical chemistry of the band's "Rust In Peace" lineup: "I sang almost every single note of Marty Friedman's guitar solos, and I wrote the majority of Nick's [Menza] drum parts, and I wrote almost every bass note that [David] Ellefson played." He doubled down on those claims in a 2009 interview with Guitar World, where he said: "You know, people have heard me say that I 'sang' solos to Marty in the studio, and I did. I did it to [former guitarists] Jeff [Young], Chris [Poland] and Al [Pitrelli], too. But [then-MEGADETH guitarist] Chris Broderick? I only did it two times [on MEGADETH's 2009 album 'Endgame'], and there are literally hundreds of thousands of notes on 'Endgame'. Now that is a testimony to a guy who has studied his partner."

WHITESNAKE's DAVID COVERDALE: 'Make No Mistake, This Is My Farewell Tour'WHITESNAKE frontman David Coverdale, who turned 70 last month, has opened up about his plans to retire from touring after the band's next batch of concerts around the world.
Coverdale discussed his decision to stop performing with WHITESNAKE while appearing on the "Appetite For Distortion" podcast to promote the newly remastered and remixed CD and LP deluxe editions of the "Restless Heart" album.
He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I planned to retire on the 2020 tour when I was 69. I thought that was the perfect age for the singer of WHITESNAKE to call it a day. But sadly, it was not to be, as we know; other events were in store. So now the t-shirt designs don't resonate as well for 70. But it's mind-blowing to me that I'm preparing my farewell tour. And it is — make no mistake, this is the farewell tour. I'm 70. It's a very physically challenging thing for me to do at the best of times. But it's very important for me to achieve completion and to express my appreciation and gratitude to all the people — the millions of people over the years — who've supported me for five decades, fifty years. It blows my mind — it really does."
"A lot of my peers and contemporaries are on their 20th retirement tour. I don't intend to plan that," he clarified. "I must explain, though — it's me, just David Coverdale, who's retiring from touring at that level. WHITESNAKE will still make projects. I've been writing music all through COVID. I wrote some beautiful new ideas. I have ideas in case Jimmy [Page] wants to do anything — write on FaceTime, which is an alien concept to him. But all songs that we can utilize for a WHITESNAKE project. But the music of WHITESNAKE will continue. That's most important that people know. I'm just stopping touring at this level — that's it."
According to Coverdale, there could very well be new music from WHITESNAKE in the years following his retirement from the road.
"I've got a bunch of ideas for WHITESNAKE, so we may have another project there — I don't know — without the pressure of having to go on tour," he said. "We have such a solid fanbase, I think fans are gonna buy the record with or without a tour. This is just emotionally for me to be able to go out there and do stuff. And also, you've gotta remember, we've started this legacy series of box sets, similar to the 25th anniversary. We have, I think, the 35th anniversary of 'Slide It In'; the 30th anniversary of the WHITESNAKE '87 album; we have a very special project planned to accompany the tour; we have another box set planned for this time next year. And then in 2023, we have the 30th anniversary of COVERDALE/PAGE, and the 50th anniversary of me joining DEEP PURPLE. Mind-blowing. So it's not like I'm retiring. [Laughs]
"Thankfully, physically and vocally, I still have the goods," he continued. "As my wife reminds me, I was actually touring up to spring in 2020, before lockdown. And I was 68 years old, and I'm still kicking ass. Of course, having an amazing band and an incredible and enthusiastic audience gives you that energizing aspect. It's just the traveling is challenging for me. But music is oxygen to me. I'm not gonna go fishing or take up crochet; I'm gonna definitely be doing projects. I'm lucky enough to have my own studio. It's the best of a bunch of worlds. And I have to thank people in person around the world for helping me to be in this position that I am in my life at this time. I don't wanna do it through a video [on] social media: 'Sorry we can't get out there, but thank you for 50 years.' That would be heartbreaking for me."
Coverdale had both his knees replaced with titanium in 2017 after suffering from degenerative arthritis. He later explained that he was in so much pain with arthritis in his knees that it hampered his ability to perform live.
WHITESNAKE had been touring in support of its latest album, "Flesh & Blood", which was released in May 2019 via Frontiers Music Srl.
This past July, WHITESNAKE announced that it had enlisted Croatian singer/multi-instrumentalist Dino Jelusick for its upcoming tour. Jelusick is a member of multi-platinum selling band TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA and was previously part of DIRTY SHIRLEY (with George Lynch), ANIMAL DRIVE and recorded with many others. 5

ALICE IN CHAINS Guitarist JERRY CANTRELL Talks METALLICA's Black Album - "It Broke The Ceiling For How Far A Metal Group Could Go"Speaking with Guitar World, Alice In Chains guitarist and solo artist Jerry Cantrell weighed in on Metallica's iconic Black album, which is celebrating its 30th Anniversary. Following is an excerpt from the feature.
Cantrell: "I was sitting in a car with Lars (Ulrich / drums) when he first played that shit to me – because you’d always show your friends and rock out to new riffs in the car. The first thing I heard was 'Sad But True' and I was like, 'Fuck, man… this is unbelievable!' They are a band that have the fury and the control and they are able to release the power at key moments. That’s what made them one of the bands I’ve always admired. I’m lucky to be able to call all of those guys my dear friends."
Guitar World: The Black Album’s success did a lot for heavy metal – to the point where it’s hard to imagine what the genre would be like without it…
Cantrell: "I think that’s because the record was bigger than heavy metal. It put them into the stratosphere of the most successful bands in the world, out of any genre, and broke the ceiling for how far a metal group could go. It’s admirable. I feel like the artistic risk and sense of growth is what makes it a perfect record. Which is why I can’t say 'Sad But True' is any more meaningful to me than 'Enter Sandman' or 'Holier Than Thou' or 'Nothing Else Matters' or 'Wherever I May Roam'. I could go on… every one of those songs is just perfect. 'The Unforgiven' is an amazing piece, too. It’s like what would happen if Ennio Morricone wrote a metal tune. That’s what it is, fuckin’ badass! But if you’re asking for pure dick-in-your-face Metallica riffs, it’s gotta be 'Sad But True'."

COREY TAYLOR Loves Swedish Pop Superstars ABBASLIPKNOT's Corey Taylor spoke to The New York Times about his love for Swedish pop superstars ABBA, who made a surprise announcement in September that they would release their first new album in 40 years.
"Growing up in the '70s, there was such a weird amalgam of music all over the place," he said. "I had Elvis; I had Motown; I had weird disco. Through all of that, I remember hearing ABBA's music. It seemed like it was always on, and it was clearly different from everything else. It had this full-spectrum lush production that felt and sounded big. It was only four people, but those songs sounded like there were a thousand people being recorded. The math didn't add up to me."
As for his favorite ABBA song, Taylor said: "'Take A Chance On Me' was always my jam. I love the juxtaposition; the beginning sets the whole tone for the song, with this weird Gregorian monk-like chant going on, and all of a sudden the crazy European production kicks in. The modulation in those songs is beautiful; it hooks you in, the way it plays between the major and the minor. I just love the yearning feeling. When you put it on, I'm instantly in a good mood."
ABBA was originally formed in 1972 and became massively successful after winning Eurovision in 1974 with hit single "Waterloo" and releasing 11 albums. The group split in 1982 after its respective couples, Agnetha Fältskog and Björn Ulvaeus and Anni-Frid Lyngstad and Benny Andersson, both divorced.
ABBA's new album, "Voyage", will be released on November 5. An immersive digital stage show will begin on May 27, 2022 at at the ABBA Arena, which is a state-of-the-art 3,000 capacity venue located at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London. The concert will feature ABBA's best-loved hits from throughout the years plus two new tracks, "I Still Have Faith In You" and "Don't Shut Me Down" 4

Like their band name suggests, Black Veil Brides evoke transcendent visions of an impenetrable hereafter, intermingling with a steely focus on the dark passions and elusive mysteries of the here and now. A romantic fantasy first summoned in a small town by founder Andy Biersack – a creative who was fascinated with death rock, theatricality, and monsters (both real and imagined). It wasn’t until moving to Los Angeles that the unstoppable force the band is currently was finalized.
The band (and its members Andy Biersack, Jake Pitts, Jinxx, Lonny Eagleton, Christian Coma) Instagram and Twitter accounts command close to 10 million followers between them. Vale, the group’s most recent full-length album, went to No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Hard Rock Albums chart. In the hearts and minds of their fans, Black Veil Brides represents an unwillingness to compromise and a resistance to critics (personal and professional), fuelled by the same fire as the group’s own heroes, the iconoclasts whose creative output, once dismissed, is now canonized.

DESERTED FEAR Release IN FLAMES Cover "Artifacts Of The Black Rain"; AudioGerman death metal band, Deserted Fear, have released their new cover track, “Artifacts Of The Black Rain”, originally performed by Swedish melodic death metal pioneers In Flames on The Jester Race (1996). The track is featured as a B-side on the band’s exclusive, limited (500x copies) 7", which was recorded, mixed and mastered by Deserted Fear’s very own Fabian Hildebrandt at Eisensound Studio. Purchase and stream “Artifacts Of The Black Rain”, here. Listen below.
"For the B-Side of the EP we wanted to cover a song from another band, something we did live all the time in our early days because we didn't have enough own songs to play a full set, haha. And in the studio we also didn’t cover a song in a long time!," states Hildebrandt about the release.
Mahne adds, "We chose an old In Flames song, because not only for us, but also for many other bands our age, the early In Flames albums were very influential and we learned a lot from them, especially on the guitar!"
The video for the band’s previously released single, “Funeral Of The Earth”, created by Vollvincent / vollvincent.com, can be viewed below. The limited edition 7" release of “Funeral Of The Earth” is also available to purchase, here, and can be purchased digitally, here.

Former IN FLAMES Members Launch THE HALO EFFECTFive former members of the Swedish metal band IN FLAMES — Jesper Strömblad (guitar), Daniel Svensson (drums), Peter Iwers (bass), Niclas Engelin (guitar) and Mikael Stanne (vocals) — have launched a new project called THE HALO EFFECT. So far, only a promotional photo of the new outfit has been released, with the promise of more information to follow soon.
A founding member of IN FLAMES, Strömblad quit the band in February 2010 in order to continue receiving treatment for his alcohol addiction.
Five years ago, Jesper slammed his former bandmates, calling the group a "sinking ship" and saying IN FLAMES singer Anders Fridén has "never been a songwriter."
Svensson, who joined IN FLAMES in 1998, announced in 2015 that he was leaving the group to focus on his family life.
A member of IN FLAMES since 1997, Iwers issued a statement in November 2016 saying that he was exiting the band "to pursue other endeavors."
Engelin has been sitting out IN FLAMES' tour dates for the past two and a half years but has never officially confirmed his departure from the band. Engelin's replacement for IN FLAMES' live shows for most of 2019 and early 2020 has been former MEGADETH and current ACT OF DEFIANCE guitarist Chris Broderick.
When Engelin was asked in an August 2020 interview with the "MetalBreak" podcast what his "future" with IN FLAMES was, he responded, "I choose to pass on that [question]," before quickly adding, "I'm still in the band."
As of last year, Engelin was not listed as a member of IN FLAMES on the band's Facebook page (Broderick was), and he is not featured in any of IN FLAMES' current promotional photos from the group's record label, Nuclear Blast.
IN FLAMES recruited American drummer Tanner Wayne, best known for his work with UNDERMINDED, SCARY KIDS SCARING KIDS and CHIODOS, to sit behind the kit for the band for its 2018, 2019 and 2020 live appearances. Wayne stepped into IN FLAMES following the departure of Joe Rickard, who played on the band's "I, The Mask" and "Battles" albums.
Shortly after leaving IN FLAMES, Iwers joined CYHRA, the band featuring vocalist Jake E (ex-AMARANTHE) and Strömblad. He announced his departure from that band in May 2018.
IN FLAMES' current lineup features American bassist Bryce Paul Newman, who has been playing most of the shows with the group since Iwers's exit.
During a January 2021 appearance on the "Vox&Hops" podcast, Iwers was asked if he ever misses being on the road. The bassist replied: "Yeah, absolutely. Well, 'miss' is kind of the wrong word. I loved being on the road for most of the years that I was with [IN FLAMES], and I miss the good times. I have no regrets as far as leaving, but, of course, sometimes I really miss just being free and out and playing shows and traveling to new places every day. But I have plans. Maybe this will happen again in the future — not with IN FLAMES, though, but, yeah, we'll see."
He continued: "I'm kind of not missing spending time thinking about stuff like that. I'm kind of more living where I am now, where I'm actually free to do whatever I can with my own time. I own my own time, as I like to say; I can plan it however I like it. And I'm kind of focusing on enjoying that rather than missing the past.
"It's fun to reminisce, but at the same time, it can take you down a dangerous road as well," Peter added.
In a 2017 interview with Ireland's Overdrive, IN FLAMES guitarist Björn Gelotte said that he wasn't surprised by Peter's departure from the band. "It wasn't a 'shock,' so to speak, as we kind of knew that it was coming," he said. "I think he was just done with it all and not happy. No, 'happy' is the wrong word. He just wanted to pursue other things. Peter is a very, very busy guy. He has his own brewery with Daniel called Odd Island Brewing and he's also got four or five different musical projects happening, so he's really got his hands full at the moment."
A year ago, DARK TRANQUILITY vocalist Mikael Stanne, who sang on IN FLAMES' debut album, 1994's "Lunar Strain", dismissed comparisons between the two bands, telling the "BREWtally Speaking Podcast": "We are kind of forever linked, just because of our connection early on. I sang on the first IN FLAMES album, and Anders sang on the first DARK TRANQUILLITY album, and this is still a cause of great confusion for some reason. But, yeah, we toured together, we are friends and we grew up together in the same area outside of town [in Gothenburg, Sweden]. So, of course, it's obvious. And I'm okay with that — that's fine. It just becomes a little bit old, because there's not much to say about it anymore, because we've gone in very different directions. So it's not relevant, but, of course, you do make comparisons — that's how people work, how you go, 'I like this band better than that band.' And if there is a link somehow, and there are many between the two of us, then you use that as some kind of reference or, 'This is better than that,' or, 'The guitar player is better in that band' — that kind of stuff. So I'm okay with it. It doesn't change anything. And sometimes questions about it tend to be uninspired. It's just like, 'Oh, what do you think of the other band's albums?' It's, like, 'It doesn't matter, but I'm a huge fan. I love it.' And it's the same with, of course, AT THE GATES as well, even though we haven't shared any members together, but we still kind of grew up together, so, obviously, there's a huge connection there as well. And I don't mind talking about my friends and the awesome bands that are from this town — it's fine — but sometimes the direct comparisons seem… Maybe they meant something in the '90s, but they really don't anymo 51

THE THREE TREMORS Feat. TIM 'RIPPER' OWENS, SEAN PECK And HARRY CONKLIN: 'Crucifier' Music VideoTHE THREE TREMORS, the project featuring acclaimed heavy metal singers Tim "Ripper" Owens (JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN), Harry "The Tyrant" Conklin (JAG PANZER) and Sean "The Hell Destroyer" Peck (CAGE, DEATH DEALER, DENNER/SHERMANN), will release its second album, "Guardians Of The Void", on November 5 via Steel Cartel Records. The official music video for the LP's second single, "Crucifier", can be seen below. The haunting clip captures the essence of the song which tells the tale of an avenging angel exiled on earth and hellbent on revenge.
Owens said about "Crucifier": "This is one of my favorite tracks on the record." Peck added: "When the band wrote this song, I knew we had a special track on our hands. It has a super-haunting vibe and I love the chorus how it hits. I am sure my fellow metalheads will dig it like I do." Conklin chimed in: "This was one I insisted we add to the live set. I can't wait to sing this with the band."
Coming off the successful release of their self-titled debut album, several North American and European tours, release of the solo versions of the first album, and some festival performances, THE THREE TREMORS shot out of a cannon at a frantic pace. They were pursuing an aggressive pace of live performances when the shutdown forced them to cut short their North American tour in the middle of their run in early 2020. They wasted no time, however, and got to work on another new album. Now their sophomore effort "Guardians Of The Void" is ready for blast-off.
Twelve songs are found on this wicked rocker of an album and once again they cover all the bases of heavy metal. As with all Steel Cartel releases, only the songs that receive video releases will be on the streaming platforms, so the physical medium and the fans that support and collect them, are the bands priority and focus.
And speaking of great physical product, THE THREE TREMORS has once again hired Marc Sasso to do the cover artwork once again. Sasso is best known for his work with such companies as Marvel, the WWE and HALFORD, DIO, CAGE and many others. He has hit it out of the park once again with this haunting, otherworldly painting that captures the mysterious essence of the album title perfectly.
Owens describes how the recording process went down: "We had just started our second North American tour promoting the solo versions that we had just released, when everything started to shut down. It was a shame because we had some really good momentum and the shows were selling well, including a few that were sold out in advance. When we realized that we could be sitting home for a while, we all started putting these new songs together and recording them."
Harry said: "I had moved to Greece during this whole time and they guys started sending me song after song at a furious pace. The songs were kickass, and I found it easier and more natural to collaborate and add my ideas and nuances this second time around. We have toured and done so many shows together now the comfort level was there and they came together really quick. The end result is amazing, I think."
Sean added: "Everyone in the band has a lot of other projects going on, so it was good we could all pull together and make this follow up album. Now Sean [Elg], our drummer, is also in KK'S PRIEST with Ripper, so we are stoked that we could not only put out another record but also get a tour in before everyone gets busy. We have spent so much time together we are like a heavy metal street gang and have a blast performing these songs and going on the road. With these new songs available from the 'Guardians Of The Void' album, our setlist will be even more vicious than before, if that is even possible, ha!"
There will be three different versions of the double gatefold vinyl of "Guardians Of The Void": the original version, the 1-in-5 variant version and the virgin cover version. The 1-in-5 variant version has completely different cover art (again by Sasso) on the front and back and will be limited to one copy for every five standard versions that are produced. The virgin cover version has the original Sasso artwork without band logos or album titles.
Catch the THREE TREMORS on tour in the United States this November.
