NIRVANA: 'Nevermind' 30th-Anniversary Editions To Include 70 Previously Unreleased Audio And Video Tracks

NIRVANA: 'Nevermind' 30th-Anniversary Editions To Include 70 Previously Unreleased Audio And Video Tracks

The September 24, 1991 release of NIRVANA's "Nevermind" touched off a seismic shift in global youth culture. Rising to No. 1 worldwide over the next few months, its impact would elevate Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl from a promising Pacific Northwest cult band to one of the most successful and influential artists of all time. "Nevermind" returned rock 'n' roll integrity and passion to the top of the charts, and continues to be a singular inspiration to fans and musicians alike over the last three decades — as it no doubt will for generations to come.

Beginning November 12, 2021, Geffen/UMe commemorates the 30th anniversary of "Nevermind" with several multi-format reissues. A total of 94 audio and video tracks — 70 previously unreleased — will be made available across configurations ranging from super deluxe editions to standard digital/CD and single disc vinyl with bonus 7-inch. In all formats, "Nevermind" is newly remastered from the original half-inch stereo analog tapes to high-resolution 192kHz 24-bit.

Among the previously unreleased material exclusive to various versions of the "Nevermind" 30th-anniversary editions are four complete live shows that document NIRVANA's historic ascension on the concert stage — "Live In Amsterdam, Netherlands" (recorded and filmed on November 25, 1991 at the famed club Paradiso); "Live In Del Mar, California" (recorded on December 28, 1991 at the Pat O'Brien Pavilion at the Del Mar Fairgrounds); "Live in Melbourne, Australia For Triple J" (recorded February 1, 1992 at The Palace in St. Kilda); and "Live In Tokyo, Japan" (recorded at the Nakano Sunplaza on February 19, 1992).

All four newly remastered live shows are included in the "Nevermind" super deluxe editions, which will be available in both vinyl (8LPs; 180-gram black vinyl; all in premium tip-on jackets; plus the new 7-inch; A-side: "Endless, Nameless" / B-side: "Even In His Youth" and "Aneurysm") and CD+Blu-ray (5 CDs plus Blu-ray — "Live In Amsterdam, Netherlands" complete concert video newly remastered audio and video in HD).

For pre-orders, full track listings and release dates for all configurations go here.

"Nevermind" has sold over 30 million copies worldwide and was certified diamond by the RIAA for sales in excess of 10 million copies in the U.S. alone.

THE LURKING FEAR Feat. AT THE GATES Members: 'Death, Madness, Horror, Decay' Album Due In November

THE LURKING FEAR Feat. AT THE GATES Members: 'Death, Madness, Horror, Decay' Album Due In November

THE LURKING FEAR, the old-school death metal group from sweden featuring members of AT THE GATES, DISFEAR, GOD MACABRE, SKITSYSTEM, TORMENTED and THE HAUNTED, will release its sophomore album, "Death, Madness, Horror, Decay", on November 19 via Century Media Records.

Vocalist Tomas Lindberg comments: "With our second album, we really wanted to produce a more coherent listening experience. The first one was a blast to put together, and I do love that it is dynamic, but we talked a lot about it and this time around we wanted the record to have more of a unified sound, so to say…We wanted it to sound like a band with their own identity. Therefore the writing sessions were more of a unified effort this time around, and all the writers in the band are part of more songs. The album is still dynamic, as it has both intense, faster 'rippers' and a few more heavy moments, but the overall sound is more convincing, to my ears. I also wanted to evolve the lyrical concept further. Of course, there is still tons of Lovecraft influence throughout the album, but I also tampered with some more current horror writers and philosophers. I guess it is not a coincidence, but this album feels like the ugly stepchild of the new AT THE GATES album, lyrically. I delved into the ideas conveyed by thinkers like Ligotti and Thacker and added an extra layer of cosmic horror to the already Lovecraftian universe of THE LURKING FEAR. Still the same basic ideas, but just more developed, and philosophical, I guess you could say.

"Also, this time around, we talked more with our producer, Per Stålberg, before, so he and us were on the same page about which kind of album we wanted to make. The new album is more of everything, and we feel that the band finally is reaching its full potential. Enjoy!"

The official Max Ljungberg-produced music video for the first single from "Death, Madness, Horror, Decay", a song called "Death, Madness, Horror, Decay", can be seen below.

Lindberg comments: "'Cosmic Macabre' was one of the first tracks to be finalized for the new album. It is an old-school Swedish death metal scorcher, but has some more quirky stuff thrown in for good measure. The lyrics deal with what lurks beyond the limits of the human comprehension. We felt it was a good first representation of the album as it contains a lot of the different elements of the record in one song. Let the primal darkness tear you apart!"

"Death, Madness, Horror, Decay" follows up THE LURKING FEAR's acclaimed debut album "Out Of The Voiceless Grave" (2017) and was recorded at Welfare Studios in Gothenburg, Sweden with Per Stålberg and Kalle Lilja. The LP features epic artwork once again conceived by Stefan Thanneur and also includes a special guest appearance by Chris Reifert (AUTOPSY, ex-DEATH) on vocals for the track "Kaleidoscopic Mutations".

"Death, Madness, Horror, Decay" track listing:

01. Abyssal Slime

02. Death Reborn

03. Cosmic Macabre

04. Funeral Abyss

05. Death, Madness, Horror, Decay

06. Architects Of Madness

07. In A Thousand Horrors Crowned

08. Kaleidoscopic Mutations

09. Ageless Evil

10. One In Flesh

11. Restless Death

12. Leech Of The Aeons

The album's limited first-pressing digipak CD edition will come two very special cover versions as bonus tracks, "The Curse", originally by SLAUGHTER and "Seance", originally by POSSESSED. "Death, Madness, Horror, Decay" will also be available as LP on 180-gram black vinyl with a poster.

JOHN 5 Announces 'Sinner' Album, Releases Video For Song 'Qué Pasa' Featuring DAVE MUSTAINE

JOHN 5 Announces 'Sinner' Album, Releases Video For Song 'Qué Pasa' Featuring DAVE MUSTAINE

ROB ZOMBIE guitarist John 5 will release his new solo album, "Sinner", on Friday, October 29 (just in time for Halloween) via Big Machine Records.

Today's album announcement is highlighted by the release of the first track from the album, the epic "Qué Pasa" which revolves around a distinctive vocal refrain. Originally built with a sample, John opted to have it reworked by Grammy-winning MEGADETH leader Dave Mustaine.

Speaking on the release of his first new music since 2019 and the announcement of "Sinner", John 5 shares: "When people hear this record, I want them to say, 'Oh, that's John 5.' What you get with 'Sinner' is the best of me. I just want to write memorable riffs that people will enjoy. When I sit on my couch and play my guitar, I play the same things you hear on the instrumental records. It's honest. It's real. It's not a façade. This is how I play. This is what I love to do."

He continues: "I have such an appreciation for Dave and I love his voice, guitar playing and songwriting. And he kills it on 'Qué Pasa'. It was such a joy to have him on this track."

"Sinner" was produced and mixed by Barry Pointer at Riott House Studio in North Hollywood. Drums were engineered by ex-GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Gilby Clarke at Redrum Recording in Los Angeles.

Regarding how Mustaine came to be involved with the record, John 5 told AL.com: "We had a sample from James Brown, and the record company was, like, 'We can't use that sample. We'll get sued. Who would you want to use?' And I was, like, 'Well, I would love to use Dave Mustaine.' So I reached out and he agreed, and he really liked the song and that'’s gonna be the first video as well. It's called 'Qué Pasa'."

John 5 originally shared the news of Mustaine's appearance on "Sinner" in an interview in July with the 95.5 KLOS radio station. At the time, he said: "We have Dave Mustaine doing a little vocal thing. 'Cause we have these little vocal hooks in each song. So it's super cool. And Mustaine did it. And it sounds so good. I love MEGADETH so much, so I was, like, 'Oh my God. We've gotta see if Mustaine will do it.' And he kills it."

"Sinner" will also feature a guest appearance by original KISS drummer Peter Criss. John 5, whose real name is John William Lowery, first discussed Criss's involvement with "Sinner" during an appearance on Sirius XM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk". He said: "Peter Criss is playing drums on the song 'Georgia On My Mind', which is the last song on the record. And I'm telling you… This guy… Barry Pointer, my producer, flew out to Peter's house, set up a couple of mics. Now, this is a jazz type of song, and Peter is known for that jazz feel he has. I shit you not, he sat behind those drums, played two takes. Barry's mouth was dropped open. Wait till you hear this. I mean, it was perfect."

John 5 continued: "It's something you can't teach, is this feel and this vibe. And he nailed it in two takes. And Barry was, like, 'Well, what do we do now?' It took him, like, literally probably eight minutes. And it was just perfect. He was, like, 'There's nothing else we can do. That was perfect.'"

"Sinner" track listing:

01. Welcome To The Island

02. For I Have Sinned

03. Euphoria (feat. Carla Harvey)

04. Qué Pasa (feat. Dave Mustaine)

05. How High The Moon

06. Creepshow

07. Land Of The Misfit Toys

08. Crazy Little Thing Called Love

09. This Is How I Do It

10. Georgia On My Mind (feat. Peter Criss)

John 5 has worked with a varied range of artists, performing as guitarist for some of the biggest headlining rock bands in the world such as ROB ZOMBIE and MARILYN MANSON, as well as playing session with Paul Stanley, Rod Stewart, LYNYRD SKYNYRD and more. Slash has called John 5 "one of the most mind-blowing guitarists around," and Rob Zombie has dubbed him "a fucking shredder." John 5 has released nine solo albums to date, as well as a remix album, and has written music for the likes of Avril Lavigne, GARBAGE, Ricky Martin and others.

JOHN 5 AND THE CREATURES' latest album, "Invasion", was released in July 2019.

THE TROOPS OF DOOM Feat. SEPULTURA Alumnus Streaming The Absence Of Light EP Ahead Of Friday Release

THE TROOPS OF DOOM Feat. SEPULTURA Alumnus Streaming The Absence Of Light EP Ahead Of Friday Release

Brazilian death metal unit The Troops Of Doom will unleash their The Absence Of Light EP tomorrow, Friday, September 17. An advanced stream can be found below.

Featuring guitarist Jairo “Tormentor” Guedz, a former member of Sepultura’s original lineup playing author and co-author to classic Sep albums Bestial Devastation and Morbid Visions, alongside bassist/vocalist Alex Kafer (Enterro, Explicit Hate, ex-Necromancer), drummer Alexandre Oliveira (Southern Blacklist, Raising Conviction), and guitarist Marcelo Vasco (Patria, Mysteriis, acclaimed graphic artist for the likes of Slayer, Kreator, Machine Head, Soulfly, and Hatebreed), the band focuses on revisiting the essence of ‘80s-style death metal, exploring a more primitive sound that takes listeners back to that era, while remaining fresh, genuine, and ferociously heavy.

The Absence Of Light EP is a loosely conceptual work inspired by the book Leviathan, from 17th century English philosopher Thomas Hobbes. Elaborates Guedz, “I had finished reading Hobbes' The Leviathan and thought, ‘This is it! We have a concept for this EP.’ I'm very interested in the subject of how politics and religion determine people's future and especially the power they accumulate when the two merge into a single form of government…”

The Absence Of Light was mixed and mastered by Øystein G. Brun (Borknagar) at Crosound Studio in Norway. The EP features a guest vocal appearance by Possessed’s Jeff Becerra on the track “The Monarch” as well as Lars Nedland of Borknagar, Solefald, and White Void on bass on the first three tracks (“Introduction – The Absence Of Light,” “Act I – The Devil’s Tail,” and “Act II – The Monarch”) and Dave Deville conducting the orchestral introduction.

Additionally, the EP includes three bonus tracks: a version of Sepultura classic “Antichrist” mixed by Leonardo Pagani at LP Mobile Studio in Brazil and the demo versions of “The Devil’s Tail” and “The Monarch.” It all comes housed in the arresting cover art of Brazilian painter Maramgoni. With the world still uncertain in these pandemic times and the band being forced to postpone their European tour - and consequently their full album - to 2022, The Absence Of Light serves a bridge piece to their impending full-length.

The Absence Of Light will be released digitally via Nuclear Blast digital subsidiary Blood Blast with pre-orders available here. The EP will be available on CD via Metalized Records in Mexico and the US, Hellven Records in Europe, and Voice Music in Brazil. It will be released on vinyl via Hellven Records in Europe, and on cassette via Repulsive Echo Records in Europe.

AUTOGRAPH - ‘80s Metal Heroes See Their Treasured Collection Of Demos Released On Deluxe 2LP Gatefold Vinyl

AUTOGRAPH - ‘80s Metal Heroes See Their Treasured Collection Of Demos Released On Deluxe 2LP Gatefold Vinyl

In 2011, Steve Plunkett, founder and lead vocalist for ‘80s metal guitar heroes Autograph, shocked the world with the release of a monster collection of early demos recorded before the band’s 1984 debut album Sign In Please.

Titled The Anthology and released only as a 2CD set, the collection included an early version of the band’s signature hit song, the unforgettable hair banging classic “Turn Up The Radio”, with one noticeable difference: in the song’s chorus when Plunkett implored listeners to “turn up the radio,” he apparently wasn’t content to just repeat the line and instead insisted we also “turn up the tape machine!”

Later, when the band re-recorded the song for Sign In, the lyric was changed and the rest is history. But that’s not all there is - these fantastic recordings contain no less than six demos of songs that would appear on their 1984 landmark album, plus several tracks that were never released anywhere else.

METALLICA Plays Surprise Concert At Small San Francisco Club: Video, Photos

METALLICA Plays Surprise Concert At Small San Francisco Club: Video, Photos

METALLICA played a special intimate concert last night (Thursday, September 16) at the 500-capacity The Independent in downtown San Francisco.

The band's setlist was as follows:

01. Whiplash

02. Ride The Lightning

03. The Memory Remains

04. Now That We're Dead

05. Holier Than Thou

06. No Leaf Clover

07. Sad But True

08. Moth Into Flame

09. Fade To Black

10. For Whom The Bell Tolls

11. Creeping Death

12. One

13. Master Of Puppets

Encore:

14. Battery

15. Fuel

16. Seek & Destroy

Video footage and photos of the concert can be seen below.

The heavy metal giants, who are celebrating the 30th anniversary of their mega-selling self-titled album, shared the news of the last-minute gig via social media on Thursday. They wrote: "Hey! Gonna let you in on a little secret .. We're playing tonight at The Independent in downtown SF. Grab a $20 bill and get your ass to the box office right now! Proof of vaxx is required to get a wristband and it's gonna sell out fast. One ticket per person, cash only!"

Per city mandate, The Independent has reportedly been requiring proof of vaccination at every show since the venue reopened in July. Attendees were required to wear masks at all times except when actively drinking.

This is not the first time METALLICA has played a "secret" show in its hometown. Back in 2003, they did four free concerts at The Fillmore after announcing the dates on their fan site.

METALLICA will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a pair of hometown shows for its fan club members on December 17 and December 19 at San Francisco's Chase Center.

Prior to Thursday, the band's last hometown performance was in September 2019, when it played with the San Francisco Symphony at the grand opening concert at the home of the Golden State Warriors.

METALLICA will return to the festival stage on Friday, September 23 and Sunday, September 26, when they are scheduled to play a pair of unique sets in Louisville, Kentucky at Louder Than Life, the first of three U.S. festivals the band will perform at this fall in partnership with promoter Danny Wimmer Presents.

A remastered edition of the self-titled LP, commonly known as the "Black Album", is now available on CD, vinyl or as a deluxe box set. The remaster is accompanied by "The Metallica Blacklist", a collection of 53 artists covering the Black Album's dozen tracks, with all profits from the release split evenly between METALLICA's All Within My Hands Foundation and more than 50 other charities chosen by the artists taking part in the project.

Last Friday, METALLICA appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" to promote the 30th-anniversary box set edition of "The Black Album." The band performed two songs, sat down for an interview and took part in a "Celebrities Read Mean Tweets"-style segment where the four members of the group read one-star Amazon reviews of the classic 1991 album. A day earlier, METALLICA and pop star Miley Cyrus performed "Nothing Else Matters" live on "The Howard Stern Show".

MARC RIZZO Says He 'Probably Should Have Quit SOULFLY Five Or Six Years Ago': 'I Stayed Too Long'

MARC RIZZO Says He 'Probably Should Have Quit SOULFLY Five Or Six Years Ago': 'I Stayed Too Long'

Former SOULFLY guitarist Marc Rizzo says that he "probably should have quit" the band five or six years ago.

Although Rizzo's departure from SOULFLY wasn't officially announced until August 7, it was widely speculated that he was out of the group two days earlier when it was revealed that FEAR FACTORY's Dino Cazares would play guitar for SOULFLY on the band's current U.S. tour, which kicked off on August 20 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Rizzo addressed his split with SOULFLY in a new interview with "The Ex-Man" podcast hosted by Doc Coyle (BAD WOLVES). Speaking about the circumstances that led to his exit from SOULFLY, Rizzo said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "There's a lot of confusion that goes on there, obviously. Everybody knows the history of the band — a lot of confusion. Which is all right — there's confusion everywhere in this world. But I definitely was putting in more than what I [was] getting out, obviously, and I think the fans have recognized that. They see the live show turned into that, the records turned into that. It's pretty obvious what was going on. I've got hundreds of fans writing me every day understanding online here. It is what it is. It's the politics of the band. It's Max's [Cavalera, SOULFLY frontman] band — that's definitely his thing. Was I doing more as the years went on? Absolutely. And, obviously, you can see that in live shows. The live show's right there in front of you — in black and white — what was going on. So, when this whole [pandemic] hit, it was just, like, 18 years in, and I'm working a day job now, and I wasn't really getting great advice, per se, as far as what to do, as far as certain things and how to get loans [from the government] or whatever it was. I tried filing for those things. I took the information that was given to me, and none of it made sense. I couldn't figure out anything. I tried applying for some of these things, and I couldn't figure it out. So, however the other two guys in the band — Max and Zyon [Cavalera, SOULFLY drummer] — got whatever loan [to help them financially during the pandemic] is beyond me. If I can't figure it out, then I'm sure they couldn't figure it out. So there must have been some sort of band accountant or somebody that did stuff [for them]."

Marc went on to say that his working relationship with SOULFLY simply "ran its course. Honestly, I think I stayed too long," he said. "I probably should have quit — I wanted to quit about five [or] six years ago. That's when things, in my opinion, just started to go downhill. There's a lot of things that are just obvious, again, if you watch the live show that I'm not even nitpicking about — the fans are talking about. If you go to any message board, the fans always talk about the same things about the live show. I think five or six years ago, I really probably should have split. But I felt bad, and I felt I had some loyalty to everybody and I didn't wanna leave everybody hanging. Obviously, I had a major part in the riffing in the live show and on the records. But, thankfully, everything went down the way it did. COVID opened my eyes to a lot of things, and I'm in a way better place now."

Last month, Max told Metal Kaoz that Marc has been spewing out "lies and bullshit" in some of his recent interviews regarding his departure from SOULFLY. "All these accusations — it hurts," he said. "It hurts to hear. After everything that we did for him, which was a lot — we put him on all the records and always took really good care of him, always really, really gave good treatment to him. To hear him backstabbing us like that, it's just not nice. He's obviously trying to get fans to be against me and make him the victim… It just sucks to hear all that. It definitely hurts me when I hear all these accusations that I know are lies and bullshit; it's all fabricated by his crazy mind. I don't know. It's a strange situation."

He added: "I don't want to turn this into an ugly thing. I don't wanna talk bad about him; I really don't. Of course I don't like those accusations, and it's bullshit, but he has the right to say whatever. But I think we treated him really good through all those years. We put him on the map pretty much. When he joined the band, not many people knew him. Just a little bit of gratitude would have been nice. Because even on 'Max Trax' [Cavalera's twice-weekly Internet video series in which he discusses the inspiration for many of the songs spanning his nearly 40-year music career], when I mentioned that I fired him, I thanked him for the 18 years of SOULFLY, and I said good luck on his projects. I'm not bitter. I don't wanna be a bitter guy."

Rizzo joined SOULFLY in 2004, and has since appeared on all of the band's subsequent records, including "Prophecy" (2004), "Dark Ages" (2005), "Conquer" (2008), "Omen" (2010), "Enslaved" (2012), "Savages" (2013), "Archangel" (2015) and "Ritual" (2018). In 2007, Rizzo became a member of CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, the side project of SEPULTURA co-founders, brothers Max and Igor Cavalera, and has performed on all CAVALERA CONSPIRACY releases including "Inflikted", "Blunt Force Trauma", "Pandemonium" and the critically acclaimed 2017 LP "Psychosis".

Rizzo was originally a member of New Jersey Latin metal favorites ILL NIÑO, appearing on their classic 2001 Roadrunner release "Revolution Revolucion" and the 2003 follow-up "Confession".

Watch ACE FREHLEY Perform In Boston

Watch ACE FREHLEY Perform In Boston

Fan-filmed video footage of Ace Frehley's September 21 performance at Leader Bank Pavilion in Boston, Massachusetts as the support act for Alice Cooper can be seen below.

Ace's setlist was as follows:

01. Rocket Ride (KISS song)

02. Parasite (KISS song)

03. Strutter (KISS song)

04. She (KISS song)

05. Manic Depression (Jimi Hendrix cover)

06. Never In My Life (MOUNTAIN cover)

07. Good Times Bad Times (LED ZEPPELIN cover)

08. Love Gun (KISS song)

09. New York Groove (Russ Ballard cover)

10. Shock Me (KISS song)

11. Cold Gin / Black Diamond (KISS songs)

12. Deuce (KISS song)

Frehley's band features guitarists Ryan Cook and Jeremy Asbock, bassist Philip Shouse and drummer Matt Starr.

When Ace's tour with Alice was first announced in May, Frehley said in a statement: "I've known Alice for over 30 years. We're good friends, and we've toured together numerous times and always had a blast. Our musical roots are very similar, and the combination of our two bands make for a great event that nobody is gonna want to miss. Being off the road for more than a year because of the pandemic has been tough on everyone in the music industry, and I'm really looking forward to seeing all of the fans happy, healthy, and ready to rock."

Last December, Frehley told Talking Metal Live that he would begin recording his next all-original album "after the New Year." The record will be the follow-up to "Spaceman", which was released in October 2018 via eOne. Ace is laying down the effort at the newly built studio at his new house in New Jersey.

Earlier last year, Frehley told Canada's iHeart Radio that he has "only written about three songs" for his next LP, and he added they were "not finished." He said: "Now that I'm [living] on the East Coast [after moving to New Jersey from Southern California], my engineer only lives an hour from me, Alex Salzman, who worked with me extensively on this last record, and he played a lot of bass guitar as well, So it's gonna be even easier, 'Origins Vol. 3' and the next [original] record."

Frehley's latest release was "Origins Vol. 2", the sequel to his 2016 collection of cover songs that inspired the former KISS guitarist.

KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons co-wrote two tracks on "Spaceman", "Without You I'm Nothing" and "Your Wish Is My Command", the latter of which also features Simmons's bass playing.

HELION PRIME To Release Question Everything Special Edition On Vinyl, Digital

HELION PRIME To Release Question Everything Special Edition On Vinyl, Digital

Celebrating the one-year anniversary of their 2020 album Question Everything, American power metallers Helion Prime have announced they will be releasing a special edition of the full length digitally on October 8, 2021 along with vinyl available early 2022.

The special edition was produced by Helion Prime guitarist Jason Ashcraft and Alex Nasla, who also remixed/remastered the record to better fit its vinyl experience. The original artwork also went under a small make-over for a classic "marble wall" vibe. The special edition features a brand new song "Wash Away", which continues the theme of Question Everything and was written about Ignaz Semmelweis, the doctor who discovered the disease-fighting power of hand-washing in 1847.

The bonus material on the special edition also includes cover versions of Children of Bodom's "Angel's Don't Kill" with a guest guitar solo from Garrett Peters and Nightwish's "The Pharaoh Sails to Orion" with guest vocals from Carlos Zema (Immortal Guardian) plus a guest guitar solo by Garrett Peters.

"We are so thrilled to announce this special edition release of Question Everything to help celebrate the album's one year of life! This was such a fun album to work on and to get to relive it with you all is something we are very excited about. We are also excited to finally be coming to vinyl. It's something we've wanted for a long time and we know a lot of you have asked for it. So now is the time to get your hands on this special and limited run of Question Everything." adds the band.

A remixed/remastered version of the song "Reawakening" is streaming below.

Question Everything is Helion Prime’s first album with new vocalist Mary Zimmer, who has also accompanied the band on two separate tours of the United States. The album also saw the band’s original singer, Heather Michele, returning in a writing capacity and contributing all lyrics and melodies. Heather Michele also along with other former Helion Prime vocalist Sozos Michael and with John Yelland (Judicator/Dire Peril) add their guest vocals on the full length.

The third record is a concept album, with each song revolving around different influential figures throughout human history who had the courage to question the status quo of their respective worlds/societies, in some cases even dealing with harsh persecution as a result. Those Helion Prime chose to write about faced prejudice, mockery, ex-communication, and persecution – yet through it all, they held true to their beliefs and ideas. Time would be their greatest ally as their ideas and identities were eventually validated, oftentimes not until after their passing. They serve as an inspiration for all minds to continue thinking outside the box and staying true to themselves.

Ex-STYX Singer DENNIS DEYOUNG Says He Would Be 'Perplexed' If Somebody Confused Him Vocally With LAWRENCE GOWAN

Ex-STYX Singer DENNIS DEYOUNG Says He Would Be 'Perplexed' If Somebody Confused Him Vocally With LAWRENCE GOWAN

In a recent interview with Rock History Music, original STYX singer Dennis DeYoung was asked for his opinion on the man who replaced him, Lawrence Gowan. Gowan has been in STYX for 22 years, which is longer than DeYoung's initial run with the band.

"I've said this a million times: Larry Gowan is the very best Larry Gowan on the planet," Dennis said. "No one's a better Larry Gowan than Larry. I'm the best Dennis DeYoung still to this day.

"Players — a dime a dozen," he continued. "I don't mean players [with] originality. But copying somebody? I just saw a four-year-old Japanese girl doing all the Eddie Van Halen solos in her bedroom. You can get people to play. They are a dime a dozen. They really are. But singers — they've got DNA, baby; they've got DNA. And if you confused me vocally with Larry, I would be perplexed.

"So, Larry, he took the job," DeYoung, the voice behind such STYX classics as "Come Sail Away", "Best Of Times", "Pieces Of Eight" and "Babe", added. "He knew what he was getting into. And he wears it well. He gets it. He's not a denier. He never has been. In fact, I know people on the inside who have told me Larry wanted to play [the DeYoung-penned song] 'Mr. Roboto' 20 years ago. Larry has said it. Because he liked it when it first came out. And he's not in that 'I've gotta belong to a political party' and have to have this dogma or this idealogy. No.

"So, Larry is the best Larry Gowan. Nobody even comes close to me as Dennis DeYoung. I search high and wide for that kid who appears on YouTube that just nails me. I haven't seen him. A couple of people get close."

DeYoung co-founded STYX as a teenager alongside his neighbors Chuck and John Panozzo in the early 1970s. James Young joined shortly after that, with Tommy Shaw coming on board in 1975.

DeYoung released his final studio album, "26 East, Vol 2", in June via Frontiers Music Srl.

JAY JAY FRENCH On TWISTED SISTER Reunion: 'I'm Not Gonna Say It's Never Gonna Happen Again'

JAY JAY FRENCH On TWISTED SISTER Reunion: 'I'm Not Gonna Say It's Never Gonna Happen Again'

In a brand new interview with The Rock Experience With Mike Brunn, Jay Jay French was once again asked if thinks TWISTED SISTER will ever play live again, nearly five years after the band completed its farewell tour. The guitarist responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I said never [before], 'cause I meant never last time, but then we got together again, so now you sound like an idiot. So I'm never gonna say never. We got together 'cause of 9/11 last time, and God forbid, nobody wants a disaster. But my band answered the bell on that selflessly — we went and did it for all the right reasons and came back for all the right reasons. We had the Christmas shows and Christmas album, which was a lot of fun to do.

"No, I'm not gonna say it's never gonna happen again," he continued. "I just can tell you this, though: we all had dinner last year with our wives, and nobody talked about playing. Not one person even mentioned playing — nobody. And no one even thought about the we didn't mention playing. All we did was talk about our kids, how we're doing these days, 'how's your health' — that kind of stuff. So, when people say to me this, I can tell you we have not had a conversation [about it].

"We came back to do a benefit for New York Steel," Jay Jay added. "Then we did a benefit my daughter's eye issues. We did a benefit for A.J.'s [Pero, late TWISTED SISTER drummer] Fallen Blue. Dee [Snider, TWISTED SISTER singer] and Mark [Mendoza, TWISTED SISTER bassist] do motorcycle events. We've done shows to raise money… We came back a better band, a more mature band, a more responsible band, which was against all the grains of heavy metal. But we all had kids, so our lives changed. We didn't have 'em when we all started. So it made us a better band and better people."

This past April, Snider told "Lipps Service With Scott Lipps" that he wouldn't rule out reuniting with his former bandmates to play "a song or two for a charity" event. "If [American talk show host Jimmy] Fallon called up and said — he's a big TWISTED fan — 'Hey, would you guys come on [my] show and do one of your Christmas songs?' or whatever, I would love to," he said. "Go out and do a 90[-minute] or two-hour set as TWISTED SISTER again? I don't see that happening."

In 2016, TWISTED SISTER embarked on one final trek, titled "Forty And Fuck It", in celebration of its 40th anniversary. These shows featured the band's "core lineup" of Snider, French, Ojeda and Mendoza, along with drummer Mike Portnoy. The band's last-ever concert took place in November of that year — 20 months after the passing of Pero.

TWISTED SISTER's original run ended in the late '80s. After more than a decade, the band publicly reunited in November 2001 to top the bill of New York Steel, a hard-rock benefit concert to raise money for the New York Police And Fire Widows' And Children's Benefit Fund.

The surviving members of the classic lineup of TWISTED SISTER — Snider, French, Ojeda and Mendoza — reunited virtually on March 20 for a special episode of Mendoza's Internet TV show "22 Now". The hour-and-a-half-long program was a tribute to Pero, who died exactly six years earlier at the age of 55 while on tour with the band ADRENALINE MOB.

Prior to this past March's virtual reunion, the four surviving members of TWISTED SISTER reunited for two days and nights in November 2019 to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the band's classic album "Stay Hungry".

KREATOR Begins Recording New Album With Producer ARTHUR RIZK

KREATOR Begins Recording New Album With Producer ARTHUR RIZK

German thrash metal veterans KREATOR have entered Hansa Tonstudio in Berlin, Germany to begin recording their new album for a tentative early 2022 release. Helming the sessions is Arthur Rizk, who has previously worked with CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, CODE ORANGE, POWER TRIP and SOULFLY, among others.

On Monday (September 20), KREATOR frontman Mille Petrozza shared a photo of drummer Jürgen "Ventor" Reil laying down tracks for the new disc, and he included the following message: "More drum recordings today at @hansastudios. Ventor has put down his best performance ever on tape ( Yes: Tape!) Best Studio on Earth!"

Earlier this year, Mille revealed to the official podcast of Italy's Metalitalia.com that KREATOR would wait until the coronavirus pandemic has subsided before releasing an album.

"Last [year], in August, we felt that we were done [writing], and we were very enthusiastic about, like, 'Okay, this is almost an album. We have 12 songs. And we take the 10 best, or whatever we come up with.' And we already planned on going into the studio in February," he said. "Now it's February, and the world is still kind of fucked with the COVID. So we have to wait and be patient… I think going on a tour, the artwork, everything has to connect. So we'll wait until that's possible again, and then we'll put out the album."

On the topic of the musical direction of the follow-up to 2017's "Gods Of Violence" album, Mille said: "It's definitely different. It's hard for me to describe, but I think it's definitely more thrash again. It has a lot of melody, and it has a lot of traditional parts, and it has a lot of ingredients of the last four or five albums. But it also has some very old-school moments. I think it's definitely the next step."

KREATOR's next album will mark the band's first with bassist Frédéric Leclercq, who joined the group in 2019.

In September 2020, KREATOR guitarist Sami Yli-Sirniö described the sessions for the band's new album to Italy's Poisoned Rock as "a lot of fun," adding that the "mood" in the band "is great. And the general vibe and the atmosphere is very good," he said. "[These are] creative times for KREATOR at the moment."

In March 2020, KREATOR surprise-released a new single, "666 - World Divided". The song was produced by Andy Sneap and Markus Ganter and was recorded at Hansa Tonstudios.

The music video for "666 - World Divided" was created under the direction of Jörn Heitmann, who was responsible for the music videos for "Radio" and "Ausländer" by RAMMSTEIN.

KREATOR played its first show with Leclercq in October 2019 in Santiago, Chile.

Before joining KREATOR, Leclercq rose to fame with U.K.-based extreme power metallers DRAGONFORCE for whom he handled bass duties from 2005 until August 2019.

KREATOR's previously announced "State Of Unrest" European tour with LAMB OF GOD has been rescheduled for November/December 2021 in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

KREATOR released a new live set, "London Apocalypticon - Live At The Roundhouse", in February 2020 via Nuclear Blast. The effort was professionally filmed and recorded on December 16, 2018 at the Roundhouse in London, England.

FRANK BELLO Says Songs On ANTHRAX's 'State Of Euphoria' Album Didn't Have Enough Of A 'Baking Period' Before Being Recorded

FRANK BELLO Says Songs On ANTHRAX's 'State Of Euphoria' Album Didn't Have Enough Of A 'Baking Period' Before Being Recorded

In a new interview with DeWook Tour, ANTHRAX bassist Frank Bello, who is currently promoting his upcoming memoir, "Fathers, Brothers, And Sons: Surviving Anguish, Abandonment, And Anthrax", was asked if there is one album in the band's catalog that he would like to go back to and do differently if he had a chance to. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "When I got in the band, it was tunnel vision, man. It was a goal, and we had to do this. So, from 'Spreading The Disease'… 'Among The Living' was the breakthrough; it was a good time in everybody's life. And that became touring, record — that kind of thing — touring, record. And it was so busy — I mean, we were never home. So there would be so many tours. And every time we finished one tour, somebody would ask us to do another tour. And it was all good to be wanted. But one thing we always — we don't regret, because it's still a good record, but I just think some of those songs on 'State Of Euphoria', if we just had a little more time to bake them, to really sit [with them]… And I'm being really honest when I say this — we didn't have enough time, as we do now. Obviously, it's a different time. But we like to live songs. You play it in your stereo, you go in your car and you take rides and stuff like that. At that time, believe it or not, man, we were in the studio and there was another took booked already as we were in the studio. It was a deadline. And that baking period, I call it, where you just live with the songs, and maybe you take out a verse or a piece of a verse…

"Again, I listen to that record, I still love it, I love the time that it was," he continued. "It was still very successful. It went gold immediately. It was all good. It was a very great time and all that. But you're asking me if there's one regret. I know that record didn't have enough time to [go through] the process — the ANTHRAX process. And that's really it."

Back in 2018, when ANTHRAX released a 30th-anniversary, 2CD deluxe edition of "State Of Euphoria", drummer Charlie Benante told Billboard about revisiting the period when the LP was recorded: "I took myself back to that time and going through all the motions and moods and pressure we all felt back then. You have to understand, we were only that band for maybe four years at that point. So believe me, man, it was a whirlwind trying to maintain a certain level of continuity between our first three records that we did and 'State Of Euphoria'. If you compare our arc to what METALLICA, SLAYER and MEGADETH were doing as well back then, our records were all on the same wavelength. 'Among The Living' was our 'Reign In Blood', our 'Master Of Puppets', and those were all, I felt, our signature records. The ones that came out after that weren't as strong, in my opinion. I don't think '…And Justice For All' is nearly as strong as 'Puppets', though I still love that record, and I don't think 'State Of Euphoria' was as strong as 'Among'.

"The momentum behind 'Among The Living' almost made you have to like our next record," he said. "And I'm not saying that 'State Of Euphoria' was bad; all of us in the band felt that it was not finished. We could have used a little more time with it."

"State Of Euphoria" was produced by ANTHRAX and Mark Dodson, includes fan favorites "Antisocial" and "Be All, End All", and was certified gold a few months after release.

“Living In The Heart Of Love," a quintessential Stones rock workout, complete with urgent guitar licks and fine piano detail, will be included on the box set and deluxe CD and vinyl editions of the forthcoming 40th anniversary multi-format release of 1981 classic Tattoo You, alongside eight other previously unreleased tracks, including “Troubles A’ Comin” and “Come To The Ball." Tattoo You, restored to its full glory and more, will be released by Polydor/Interscope/UMe on October 22. Pre-order in multiple formats here.

The album announcement came 40 years to the week since the celebrated record was first released on August 24, 1981, and as the rock 'n' roll legends prepare to return to the road with 13 new dates on the No Filter tour in the US. The new itinerary starts on September 26 in St. Louis and extending into November.

Anticipation for the new editions of Tattoo You will be high among Stones devotees and new admirers alike. The 40th anniversary remaster of the original 11-track album includes such enduring favourites as "Hang Fire", "Waiting On A Friend" (showcasing jazz saxophone giant Sonny Rollins) and of course the opening track that's been a band signature ever since, "Start Me Up". The deluxe formats will also include Lost & Found: Rarities and Still Life: Wembley Stadium 1982.

The Lost & Found disc contains no fewer than nine songs from the period of the album's original release, newly completed and enhanced with additional vocals and guitar by the band. Among these, 'Living In The Heart Of Love' is a quintessential Stones rock workout with all of the group on top form, complete with urgent guitar licks and fine piano detail.

Other highlights of Lost & Found include a killer version of "Shame, Shame, Shame", first recorded in 1963 by one of the band's blues heroes, Jimmy Reed; their reading of Dobie Gray's soul gem "Drift Away"; and a fascinating reggae-tinged version of "Start Me Up".

Still Life: Wembley Stadium 1982 is an unmissable memento of the band's London show in June of that year on the Tattoo You tour. The mighty 26-track set is packed with Stones mega-hits, including an opening "Under My Thumb" and all-time greats such as "Let's Spend The Night Together", "Honky Tonk Women" and "Brown Sugar".

The Wembley show has covers of the Temptations' "Just My Imagination", Eddie Cochran's "Twenty Flight Rock", the Miracles' "Going To A Go Go" and early rock 'n' roller the Big Bopper's "Chantilly Lace".'It also features early live workouts for tracks from the then-new Tattoo You such as "Start Me Up", "Neighbours", "Little T&A" and "Hang Fire".

Universal Music's Tattoo You (40th Anniversary Edition) follows the 2020 reissue of the Stones' 1973 landmark Goats Head Soup, which took the album back to No. 1 in the UK. Remarkably, this marked the second time their peerless catalogue had produced a UK

INGESTED Sign Worldwide Deal With Metal Blade Records

INGESTED Sign Worldwide Deal With Metal Blade Records

Metal Blade Records announce the signing of British death metal band, Ingested, to its global roster. The flagbearers of modern UK death metal recently celebrated the band's 15th anniversary, as well as the 10th anniversary of their sophomore effort The Surreption with The Surreption II, a complete re-recording of the album earlier this summer. As the band prepares their Metal Blade Records debut, fans can check out the Ingested livestream from 2020 below.

Vocalist Jason Evans comments: "Metal Blade Records is a legendary label, with a roster of legendary artists and we are very proud to say that after 15 years as a band, we now stand amongst them. We are super excited about this next step in our journey and can't wait to bring you more music, more videos and more shows than ever before, worldwide. Welcome to the Metal Blade era of Ingested!"

HEADLESS Feat. Former YNGWIE MALMSTEEN Singer GÖRAN EDMAN Debut "Misdirection" Music Video

HEADLESS Feat. Former YNGWIE MALMSTEEN Singer GÖRAN EDMAN Debut "Misdirection" Music Video

European progressive hard rock group Headless, composed of members who have performed alongside the likes of Yngwie Malmsteen, Geoff Tate (ex-Queensryche) and Elegy, have released their new single, "Misdirection". A music video can be seen below.

A message states: “Musically, 'Misdirection' is a classic progressive and up-tempo song with Göran Edman on the helm providing a refined vocal line and choir arrangements reminiscent of his Malmsteen heydays. Göran wrote the lyrics as well, giving an interesting social commentary to the listener. 'Misdirection' in fact is a song about the growing infiltration of the mob and families dedicated to crime in places and cities that until a few years ago were considered 'civil' and safe. The video clip has an old-school vibe to it with the band playing the song in an old, bare and abandoned industrial landscape.”

The band's new record (and M-Theory Audio debut) Square One, will be released on September 24. The album - which showcases the band's blend of classic rock catchiness with heavier progressive metal influences - is now available for pre-order on CD, digital and limited-edition cloudy blue sky colored vinyl, and the limited exclusive Belt of Venus pink variant with autographed photo (only 100 made), here.

The upcoming release of Square One is the latest chapter in the saga of a band whose members have amassed an impressive array of credits throughout their respective careers. Göran Edman has been the group's lead vocalist since 2011. The two Headless albums to which he has lent his melodic croons so far - 2013's Growing Apart and 2016's Melt The Ice Away - join a lengthy resume that began in the 1980s as a part of Swedish hard rockers Madison and Swedish Erotica; included stints during the 1990s as a vocalist for Yngwie Malmsteen and John Norum (Europe); and continued with multiple groups into the 21st Century, most notably alongside members of The Flower Kings in the progressive metal band Karmakanic.

OMNIUM GATHERUM Premier Music Video For New Single "Reckoning"

OMNIUM GATHERUM Premier Music Video For New Single "Reckoning"

Finnish melodic death metal force, Omnium Gatherum, present their new single and video, "Reckoning", taken off their upcoming album Origin, which will be released worldwide on November 5 via Century Media Records.

Like the previously released single, "Paragon", the video for "Reckoning" was also directed and produced by Owe Lingwall, Dreamday Media. The song is available on all digital platforms now.

”‘Reckoning’ is a certain powersong or an uplifting song which we needed to rise from the depths of a past year, and it was the last song we wrote for the new album. Adult oriented death metal at its finest glory, that dark and shiny place where Def Leppard and death metal meets. Death Leppard, maybe? The music video saved a warm memory from a very hot summer day in my hometown of Kotka, where we played at the rocks of the beautiful island of Rankki. Lying on the rocks zipping cold beer and driving with the boats at the sea. Kotka isn’t that far from Miami, except geographically, haha”, Markus Vanhala states.

Jukka Pelkonen comments: ”This song is clearly and absolutely about a situation where someone is really trying to mess things up and goes about doing it in secrecy. ‘A Story’ about an individual who is so messed up that he/she turns against the people who really matter. This is a certain way to ruin, yet the one doing so denies all responsibility ‘avoiding only the truth’…”
