GRANNY 4 BARREL Premiers "Nitro Sexy" Music Video

GRANNY 4 BARREL Premiers "Nitro Sexy" Music Video

There’s something special going on within the realm of theatrical hard rock. It’s completely unheard of for an unsigned act to receive 50+ spins weekly on Octane Hyper Rotation (starting this week) and being added to Spotify "Rock Hard" Playlist (with 635,000 followers), plus being included in other playlists, such as the popular Loudwire Weekly Wire and Amazon (Fresh Rock, Top Rock, Rock Scene, and Introducing Rock).

But that is exactly the type of success that Granny 4 Barrel is currently enjoying, with their latest killer track, “Nitro Sexy” - produced by the legendary David Bendeth (Breaking Benjamin, Killswitch Engage, Bring Me the Horizon, Paramore, etc.) - of which its video can be viewed below.

An action-packed video was shot on location at El Paso Motor Plex in El Paso, TX by award winning director David Brodsky of MyGoodEye. The video also features performers from Hardknocks Car Club, El Paso Roller Derby team the Tex Pistols, and Rick’s Caberet Gentlmen’s Clubs. Granny describes the edge-of-your-seat clip as, “In keeping with my wholesome family values, we made sure to add plenty of violence, speed, sex and power in both the song and video! Filmed in El Paso Texas, Nitro Sexy is souped-up, tricked out and jacked up! I can’t wait for all the rock ‘n roll children to feast their greedy little eyes and ears on my latest master piece!”

“Granny is an alter-ego character, that really stands for freedom of expression and no limits on a person,” explains the band’s singer. “For example the stereotype of age...when you’re in your twenties, there is a bracket around you - you can do this, you can’t do this. In your thirties, you can do this, you can’t do that. Granny 4 Barrel breaks the mold! It’s like, ‘You can just be who you want to be with no constraints or rules to hold you back from all of your potential’!”

It’s been far too long since the likes of Alice Cooper, Ziggy Stardust/David Bowie, Rob Zombie, and Marilyn Manson shocked and rocked their way up the charts and into arenas. And with the arrival of “Nitro Sexy,” the rock world has their next band that combines hard-hitting rock with theatrics... Granny 4 Barrel!

Granny 4 Barrel - “The Matriarch Of Metal” and a neo-Victorian shock rock nightmare! Granny is a true original. She represents the rebellious spirit of rock n’ roll, freedom of expression and nonconformity. Think of Granny as the surrogate bad-ass metal grandma you’ve always wanted...she’s cooking up her special recipe of hybrid metal for all the rock-n-roll children, and serving up a big middle finger to all the stereotypes and oppressions of the world! Who’s Your Granny? Granny 4 Barrel is!!! And the latest chapter of the G4B saga has been unveiled - the single/video, “Nitro Sexy”.

Former ANGRA Singer ANDRÉ MATOS Died Of Heart Attack

Former ANGRA Singer ANDRÉ MATOS Died Of Heart Attack

The official Facebook page of André Matos, former lead singer of the Brazilian metal band ANGRA, has confirmed that the musician died of a heart attack on Saturday (June 8).

Because André was "an extremely reserved person" who made it clear while he was alive that he did not want his family to have a wake or him, the 47-year-old will be cremated today in the presence only of relatives, the message on his Facebook page said.

André performed last Sunday (June 2) at the Espaço das Américas in São Paulo with SHAMAN and also made a guest appearance with the show's headliners, AVANTASIA.

In addition to recording the vocals and keyboards on ANGRA's 1993 debut album, "Angels Cry", André was the composer and arranger of nine of the ten tracks on the LP, including "Carry On", which is still considered to be one of ANGRA's most popular songs. Matos also handled lead vocals on ANGRA's "Holy Land" (1996) and "Fireworks" (1998) albums.

Matos, along with bassist Luis Mariutti and drummer Ricardo Confessori, left ANGRA in 2000 and launched SHAMAN (later known as SHAAMAN due to legal issues). André then went on to pursue a solo career while continuing to stay involved with a number of outside projects.

André released three solo albums: 2007's "Time To Be Free", 2009's "Mentalize" and 2012's "The Turn Of The Lights".

É com profundo pesar que confirmamos o falecimento do André esse sábado de manhã devido a uma parada cardíaca.

JIMMY PAGE Reveals He Was Almost A Part Of THEM CROOKED VULTURES Featuring JOHN PAUL JONES

JIMMY PAGE Reveals He Was Almost A Part Of THEM CROOKED VULTURES Featuring JOHN PAUL JONES

According to a report by Tone Deaf, Led zeppelin guitar legend Jimmy Page has revealed he was almost part of a Them Cooked Vultures, which featured his zeppeling bandmate John Paul Jones and Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl.

The report says that, way back in 2005, Grohl hinted that he was working on a brand new project with Queens Of The Stone Age’s Josh Homme and John Paul Jones. Four years later, the world was treated to the first new song by a supergroup named Them Crooked Vultures. Releasing an impressive self-titled debut and playing a handful of shows all the over the world, the band was quickly over as soon as it began. However, in a recent post on Instagram, Page revealed that he was in talks to either be part of Them Crooked Vultures, or the axe-man in a completely different, yet somewhat related supergroup.

Check out Page's Instagram post below.

During the post-O2 period, I had been playing new material with Jason Bonham and John Paul Jones at rehearsal rooms. I was asked to play with the Foo Fighters at Wembley. This was after the Led Zeppelin show at the O2 attended by Dave Grohl. So, on this day in 2008, John Paul Jones and I played 'Ramble On' and Dave sang with Taylor Hawkins on drums. Then Taylor swapped drums with Dave and he sang 'Rock and Roll'. Dave Grohl said "You guys should come to the States and record with us". I didn't hear anything more from Grohl, and John Paul Jones' communications seemed to dim. The next I heard, they were promoting their new group. 📸 Ross Halfin, 2008

RICHIE KOTZEN Releases 'Venom' Single, Video

RICHIE KOTZEN Releases 'Venom' Single, Video

Guitarist Richie Kotzen (THE WINERY DOGS, POISON, MR. BIG) has released the official music video for his new single, "Venom". Check it out below.

Kotzen recently told SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation" that he was working on material for a possible new solo album. "I think that's what's happening," he said. "I just have such a relaxed attitude about it, which I think is kind of good. Only 'cause I have so many records that I've put out — be it with bands or solo or whatever — so I don't feel like I'm under any kind of pressure to have to make a record, 'cause I have enough material that I can keep touring and change the show. Each time I do a tour, I could do a different show. But I do have a couple of new songs, and I have one that I really like that I think would be a great candidate to lead the record with. So I'm gonna make a video for that, and probably hang on to that until I feel like either I have a record, or if I don't, I'll just put out a single."

Kotzen released two singles in 2018 — "The Damned" and "Riot". The tracks feature his longtime bassist Dylan Wilson and drummer Mike Bennett.

Richie's most recent solo album, "Salting Earth", was made available in April 2017 via his own custom label, Headroom-Inc.

Inspired by KISS, Kotzen picked up the guitar at the age of seven. He recorded his first solo album at 19 and was playing with POISON by the time he was 21, replacing C.C. DeVille. He co-wrote and played on the gold-certified POISON album "Native Tongue", which showcased his evolving shredding style. After a stint in MR. BIG in the late '90s, Kotzen recorded several successful solo albums before joining rock supergroup THE WINERY DOGS with drummer Mike Portnoy and bassist Billy Sheehan in 2013.

In May, Kotzen re-teamed with Sheehan and Portnoy for a month-long American tour with THE WINERY DOGS.

SONS OF SILVER Featuring Past / Present Members Of PEARL JAM, CANDLEBOX, SKILLET Release New Single “Down”

SONS OF SILVER Featuring Past / Present Members Of PEARL JAM, CANDLEBOX, SKILLET Release New Single “Down”

After releasing back-to-back, critically-acclaimed songs earlier this year, renowned alt indie rockers Sons Of Silver are back with one of their most introspective and hook-laden songs to date. Released today (June 7th), “Down” showcases another side to the complex, hard-working LA quintet with a track that strikes just the right balance between moody and mercurial – all to the backbeat of Hall Of Fame drummer Dave Krusen’s groove-infested style.

However, according to frontman Peter Argyropoulos, he didn’t think too much of the song when he first wrote it and he certainly didn’t think the band would embrace it the way that they did.

“’Down’ was one of those songs that just fell into my lap shortly after returning home from tour,” said Argyropoulos. “But, I didn’t think much of it and I definitely didn’t think the band would think much of it. Funny thing is, they immediately loved it and had a vision for it. Guitarist Kevin [Haaland] really found some magic and ended up playing almost all of the guitars. Then, Dave [Krusen] made a last second decision to lay a mini snare drum on top of his main snare and play the mini, high-pitched drum.  Yes, that’s correct, he played one snare stacked on top of another.  Pretty cool.  It gave a nice boost to the energy of the track.”

The song was recorded and mixed by Keyboardist Brina Kabler (mixing with engineer, Brian Scheuble) at Argyropoulos and Kabler’s home studio.

In conjunction with the release of the band’s third single from their forthcoming EP, Sons Of Silver also debuted a riveting new video for “Down” that, according to Argyropoulos, features intimate live performance footage of the members that was captured in only a few takes.

“The recording and video were made in a couple of hours.  We had a day off in NYC while on tour last week and figured we’d put the time to good use,” he said. “Our friend and unofficial sixth member of the band, Dean Dichoso, produced and mixed it.  Those are normally Brina’s duties.  But, she was playing keys.  Anthony Fernandez shot and edited the video.  It’s a live performance.  We did a couple of takes and I think we used the first one.  It’s good to do capture moments like this when on the road because the band is in ‘performance’ mode.  Everything was done at The Bunker recording studios in Brooklyn. Great studio and great staff.”

The group’s collaborative song-writing style, signature sound and collective years of experience, is what make Sons Of Silver such a phenom in the indie alt scene. In fact, each of its members has dedicated his or her entire careers to performing in platinum-selling and award-winning outfits. In addition to Krusen (who was recently inducted into the Rock N’ Roll Hall Of Fame with Pearl Jam) and Argyropoulos (who served as the frontman for the renowned Last December) the group comprises such all-star performers as Candlebox bassist Adam Kury, former Skillet guitarist Kevin Haaland and keyboardist and esteemed engineer Brina Kabler.

NICK MENZA - Late MEGADETH Drummer Re-Records "Train Of Consequences" In Previously Unreleased Video

NICK MENZA - Late MEGADETH Drummer Re-Records "Train Of Consequences" In Previously Unreleased Video

Previously unreleased drum-cam footage of late Megadeth drummer, Nick Menza, in the studio re-recording the bands classic song "Train Of Consequences", can be seen below. In the opening clip Menza talks about how some of his parts on the Megadeth albums had mistakes.

Menza: "Most of my parts on the albums were mistakes that they kept and I had to learn them, kind of fucked up! But you're only as good as you are on your worst night."

Filmed during March of 2014 at Uberbeatz Studios in Seattle, Washington and believed to be some of the final studio drum recordings of Menza before he passed away more than two years later. The footage was supposed to be used for the late drummer's first-ever instructional DVD, Intense Mega Drumming, that was to feature 10 re-recorded classic Megadeth drum tracks with tons of tips and tricks from Menza's arsenal to help teach anybody out there become a better player.

The DVD which was produced and directed by Kari Pearson and Menza's long time manager Robert Bolger has since been shelved and the footage is being utilized for untitled upcoming full length documentary about the drummer's intimate life and career from the early days with Megadeth to his final project OHM:.

According to Menza's manager Robert Bolger, the 10 unreleased, re-recorded classic Megadeth drum tracks were offered to Megadeth founders Dave Mustaine and David Ellefson in 2017 during a conversation via text. "My intention was to personally have Mustaine and Junior listen to them and select two or three, or more out of the ten tracks to be considered for any future Megadeth anniversary / greatest hits releases. Although Mustaine didn't seem to interested at the time. Hopefully all parties could communicate again to possibly come together and collaborate to properly pay tribute to Nick, it's the right thing to do for the Menza family and fans. There's no denying the fact that Megadeth was a huge part of Nick's life and career, as well as Nick being part of Megadeth's huge commercial success."

Menza joined Megadeth for the 1989 recording of the Rust In Peace album, and for the next nine years became associated with the band's "classic" and most ever profitable era.

Nick Menza tragically passed away in May 2016 after suffering a heart attack, and collapsed behind his drum kit during a live concert with Chris Poland and Robertino "Pag" Pagliari in their band OHM: at The Baked Potato in Studio City, California. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner said Menza died of hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

A few days after Menza's passing, Dave Mustaine insisted that he had a "very, very close" relationship with the drummer, who previously accused the Megadeth frontman of sending him a "ridiculous proposal" for a failed 2015 reunion of the band's classic Rust In Peace- era lineup. Mustaine told the Q103 radio station: "I think when you're that close with somebody, the temperatures run a lot hotter than in most relationships, so the love is that much more deeper and the anger is so much more hot and the sadness is so much more profound.

"So I think that's when you know that you're really in a relationship with somebody that matters to you." He continued: "People think that we had this failed reunion attempt. There were several times that we tried to reconcile stuff, and it just didn't happen for whatever reason I don't know why, but it didn't."

Menza's book, Megalife: The Autobiography Of Nick Menza, by J. Marshall Craig was released in December 2018 via Post Hill Press.

CLUTCH Releases Cover Version Of WILLIE DIXON Classic 'Evil'

CLUTCH Releases Cover Version Of WILLIE DIXON Classic 'Evil'

Maryland rockers CLUTCH have released their cover version of the Willie Dixon 1950s classic "Evil" (later recorded by CACTUS). The official lyric video for the track was directed by David Brodsky and can be seen below.

CLUTCH's version of "Evil" will be include on collection of newly recorded songs, "Weathermaker Vault Series", which will arrive this summer.

Drummer Jean-Paul Gaster told Cory Blose of TotalRock Radio's "The Valley" about "Weathermaker Vault Series" (hear audio below): "We got into the studio early this year. After we finished another U.S. tour, we jumped in the studio and we recorded a selection of songs. I wouldn't go so far as to call it a full album. But the idea is just to release a few things throughout the rest of the year. And these will be completely just digital releases as well. We're sort of experimenting with that format — just releasing stuff for streaming purposes. And we'll see how that goes."

He continued: "It was fun to get in the studio, and we picked some songs that sort of all meant something to us in different ways. We also re-recorded a few CLUTCH classic songs, so those will be coming out as well. I suppose maybe in some ways it's sort of just a way to tide us over until we really get the juices flowing to record another album."

Gaster said that CLUTCH's insistence on recording and releasing new music comes from a pure place.

"As we all know, there's not a tremendous amount of money to be made in releasing albums anymore, so you have to do it because you wanna do it," he said. "And also too, it just gives us an opportunity to play some new stuff when we get out there on the road and play shows. We do not wanna be a band that gets up there and just plays the hits and that would be the end of it. This is not a nostalgia thing for us. For us, this is still very much a live working rock band. We have the desire to be creative and to play music, so we try to foster that in whatever way we can."

He added: "I can say a scenario where we'll release this collection of singles and maybe a few more, and then eventually we might put these all on a vinyl record and put them out.

CLUTCH's latest album, "Book Of Bad Decisions", was released last September. The record sold 26,000 copies in America during its first week of availability, giving the group its third consecutive Top 20 album on the Billboard 200.

"Book Of Bad Decisions" was recorded was completed at Sputnik Sound studio in Nashville, Tennessee with producer Vance Powell. The album cover was designed by renowned photographer Dan Winters.

GUNS N' ROSES Keyboardist DIZZY REED Releases Music Video For 'Forgotten Cases'

GUNS N' ROSES Keyboardist DIZZY REED Releases Music Video For 'Forgotten Cases'

GUNS N' ROSES keyboardist Dizzy Reed has released an animated music video for the song "Forgotten Cases". The track is taken from his debut solo album, "Rock 'N Roll Ain't Easy", which was released in February 2018 via Golden Robot Records.

"Rock 'N Roll Ain't Easy" is 12 tracks (or 13, if you download the digital version) of rock with Reed uniting with fellow members of GUNS N' ROSES, along with some other greats, including players from W.A.S.P., QUIET RIOT, PSYCHEDELIC FURS, THIN LIZZY, NO DOUBT, THE REPLACEMENTS, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, and more.

Asked about the inspiration for the "Rock 'N Roll Ain't Easy" title track, Dizzy told Germany's Metal-Heads.de: "I spend a lot of time reminding myself that life could be a lot harder. I could be doing something I don't wanna do at all. I'm really lucky to be able to play rock music for a living.

"It's not as easy as it looks. It's not all glitz and glam," he continued.

"I started playing rock and roll because I didn't wanna work; I didn't wanna have a 9-to-5 [job]. And I realized at some point… Now all I do is work. If you wanna stay busy out there and [remain] relevant, you have to work harder.

"There's a lot of times when, especially at that point in my life, where I was wondering why I was doing it still, and there was nothing coming in, and you don't have anything to fall back on. If I went to a McDonald's right now to apply for a job, they wouldn't take me. What am I gonna do?

"It's a story about how difficult things were and how much time I had to spend sticking it out, wondering where I was gonna go to sleep that night, wondering where I was gonna get a shower and get something to eat," he added. "I mean, that went on for years. And I think when I did write that song, I thought I had kind of come full circle. My first marriage had split up and my stuff was literally in my truck. I was staying in an apartment with the girl who had become my wife now. And I was sitting out on a balcony playing guitar, and that song just started coming [to me]. It was raining and I didn't know what I was gonna do. But a lot of it is kind of tongue-in-cheek too. If you know me, I'm not that serious. But I think people will get the point. People can make of it what they would like, basically."

Written by Reed, Ricky Warwick (THIN LIZZY, THE ALMIGHTY, BLACK STAR RIDERS) and Del James, the disc's first single, "This Don't Look Like Vegas", features Warwick and Mayuko Okai on guitar, with GUNS bandmate Richard Fortus (PSYCHELIC FURS, THIN LIZZY, THE DEAD DAISIES) providing the guitar solo. Mike Dupke (W.A.S.P.) is on drums, with Mike Duda (W.A.S.P.) on bass, while Reed handles lead vocals, piano, shaker and tambourine, with backing vocals from Nadja Reed, Chela Johnson and Del James.

Reed is the longest-serving member of GN'R after singer Axl Rose. He joined the band as a touring member in 1990, during the "Use Your Illusion" era, and has played with most of the original members as well as in all the later editions of the group and the current reunion lineup.

In 2012, Dizzy was inducted into the the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame as a member of GUNS N' ROSES. He has toured with the PSYCHEDELIC FURS and has toured, recorded and written with supergroup THE DEAD DAISIES whose lineup has featured members of THE CULT, MÖTLEY CRÜE, WHITESNAKE, THE ROLLING STONES and THIN LIZZY. He also sings lead vocals with his side project HOOKERS & BLOW.

JAY WEINBERG: Playing With SLIPKNOT Is 'The Most Enjoyable, Self-Destructive, Euphoric Experience'

JAY WEINBERG: Playing With SLIPKNOT Is 'The Most Enjoyable, Self-Destructive, Euphoric Experience'

Jay Weinberg says that being in SLIPKNOT has been "the most enjoyable" experience of his life.

The now-28-year-old drummer discovered SLIPKNOT when he was a pre-teen, through his father Max, of Bruce Springsteen's E STREET BAND, and leader of the house band on Conan O'Brien's talk show. He was hooked immediately and was a huge fan of SLIPKNOT by the time he was invited to Los Angeles to try out as replacement for Joey Jordison in 2013.

In a recent interview with SJC Custom Drums, Weinberg stated about his audition (see video below): "After spending a lot of time on the road with different bands, I stopped touring entirely and went back to school," Jay recalled. "My manager, who managed this band I used to be in, calls me and says, 'What are you doing? I have something. I think you'd wanna do it. Can you just trust me and get out here to L.A.?' Without hesitation, I was just, like, 'Yeah! Okay. I can do that.' I didn't know what it was for, but I knew if someone was asking me to come and play drums on something, I wanna kick the shit out of it."

He continued: "I go out there, just go to their studio, and they're, like, 'All right. There's a drum set. We'll bring in SLIPKNOT in, like, 20 minutes. Is that cool?' I'm, like, 'Yeah. Okay. That's cool.'

"Just from going on muscle memory from when I was, like, 14 or 15 in my shed, we played about 20 SLIPKNOT songs. And it was, like, 'All right, man. If you want this, it's yours.'"

According to Weinberg, playing with SLIPKNOT has been the highlight of his musical career.

"I'm a kid with a dream, and I feel so fortunate and so honored to have been able to hop over the barrier onto the stage and have this opportunity to create and bring some sort of contribution to this band I loved so much," he said. "It's the most enjoyable, self-destructive, euphoric experience, and it takes a lot of blood, it takes a lot of pain, but it's all worth it, because SLIPKNOT is the greatest band — period."

For the first few months after the release of 2014's ".5: The Gray Chapter", the members of SLIPKNOT had declined to name the musicians who were playing drums and bass on their tour, despite the fact that their identities were revealed as Weinberg and bassist Alessandro "Vman" Venturella by a disgruntled former drumtech for SLIPKNOT who posted a picture of a backstage call sheet on Instagram.

SLIPKNOT announced its split with Jordison in December 2013 but did not disclose the reasons for his exit. The drummer subsequently issued a statement saying that he did not quit the group.

SLIPKNOT's sixth album, "We Are Not Your Kind", will be released on August 9 via Roadrunner.

Is METALLICA Planning To Make 'Garage Inc. 2'?

Is METALLICA Planning To Make 'Garage Inc. 2'?

METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich has hinted that the band is planning to release a new collection of covers.

In the latest issue of Kerrang! magazine, the members of METALLICA were asked a number of fan-submitted questions. Among them was a query from Aran from Leicester, who wanted to know which songs METALLICA would cover if it was going to make "Garage Inc. 2" Ulrich was uncharacteristically curt in his reply, saying simply: "Wait and see."

Issued in 1998, "Garage Inc." included cover songs, B-side covers, and the "The $5.98 E.P.: Garage Days Re-Revisited", which had gone out of print since its original release in 1987. The title is a combination of "Garage Days Revisited" and METALLICA's song "Damage, Inc." The album featured songs by artists that have influenced METALLICA, including DIAMOND HEAD, DISCHARGE, BLACK SABBATH and MISFITS.

METALLICA is continuing to tour in support of its latest album, "Hardwired… To Self-Destruct", which came out in November 2016.

The "WorldWired" tour has played more than 130 shows across the world since its 2016 kick-off.

Last November, Ulrich told The Mercury News that the trek could last through early 2020.

RONNIE JAMES DIO's Hologram Hits Glenside During 'DIO Returns' Tour (Video)

RONNIE JAMES DIO's Hologram Hits Glenside During 'DIO Returns' Tour (Video)

The new Ronnie James Dio hologram played on June 7 at Keswick Theatre in Glenside, Pennsylvania. The show was part of the month-long "Dio Returns" U.S. tour, which kicked off on May 31 in Fort Myers, Florida.

The Dio hologram production uses audio of Ronnie's live performances from throughout his career, with the DIO DISCIPLES band playing live, consisting of Simon Wright on drums, Craig Goldy on guitar, and Scott Warren on keyboards, along with Bjorn Englen on bass. Also appearing with them are former JUDAS PRIEST singer Tim "Ripper" Owens and ex-LYNCH MOB frontman Oni Logan.

The 90-minute concert includes all of the DIO fan favorites — such as "Holy Diver", "King Of Rock And Roll" and "We Rock" — plus select tracks from RAINBOW and BLACK SABBATH.

Fan-filmed video footage of the Glenside show can be seen below (courtesy of YouTube user "Ben Christian").

Setlist:

01. King Of Rock And Roll

02. Mob Rules

03. Children Of The Sea

04. The Last In Line / Holy Diver

05. Stand Up And Shout

06. Don’t Talk To Strangers

07. Egypt (The Chains Are On)

08. Gates Of Babylon

09. Invisible

10. Stargazer

11. Heaven And Hell / Man On The Silver Mountain

12. Rainbow In The Dark

13. We Rock

14. Neon Knights

The legendary heavy metal singer died in 2010 at the age of 67 from stomach cancer. His hologram made its debut at the Wacken Open Air festival in August 2016 in front of more than 75,000 fans.

After the tour's initial seven-date run was completed in December 2017, Ronnie's hologram underwent "some changes" before the launch of the 2019 leg of the "Dio Returns" world tour.

Hologram production company Eyellusion, which created the Dio hologram, recently signed with the Agency for the Performing Arts (APA), represented by agency partner Steve Martin.

Eyellusion CEO Jeff Pezzuti said: "Ronnie James Dio was not only known for his amazing vocals, but also his incredible stage shows and performances. This show is a must-see for all fans of Ronnie, new and old. The new stage production we have created, plus the brand new Ronnie James Dio hologram, have to be seen to be believed. This is a first-ofits kind -metal show! We are celebrating Ronnie, with his live vocals, with his band he toured with for the last 17 years, and with a show that his fans will love! It's an over-the-top metal experience that will have the fans raising their horns throughout the show! We are excited for everyone to see what we have in store for the U.S. and the world to follow!"

Ronnie's widow and longtime manager, Wendy Dio, who is a member of the Eyellusion team, spoke to Patch.com about the new Ronnie James Dio hologram. Asked what is different about it, Wendy said: "Technology has come a long way since the first one was created. I'm much happier with the new one. It's a million times better. I wasn't happy by the end of the last tour. I wanted Ronnie to look more like Ronnie. I was very picky about the eyebrows actually. Maybe someone else wouldn't have noticed it but I noticed it. I wanted to make sure that everything was perfect. He's also now in the same line as the band, in front. Before, he was at the back of the stage."

According to Wendy, "about a year" of planning and design went into creating the new hologram. "It's like a cartoon," she said. "Every stroke, every eyelash, has to be done individually. Then there's me going, 'I don't like that!' The people involved really care about it. We're all there during the creation, making it exactly what we wanted to do."

Wendy told Patch.com that critics of the Dio hologram are "entitled to their opinion. I just ask that people come and see the show first before criticizing," she said. "We got a lot of flak in the beginning but I think more and more people are getting used to it. It's for the fans. It's for the fans who would love to see Ronnie back up on the stage and the ones that never got a chance to see him. I think Ronnie would approve. If anybody saw the 'Sacred Heart' tour in 1986 we tried to make a hologram then. We had Ronnie in a crystal ball hanging from the stage talking through it. Also he was an innovator in music, so why not be an innovator in technology."

RED Releases New Single, 'The Evening Hate'

RED Releases New Single, 'The Evening Hate'

Grammy-nominated, RIAA gold-certified rock band RED has released a digital single, "The Evening Hate", via its newly formed Red Entertainment label with distribution for the first time from The Fuel Music into digital and streaming outlets globally. The song's accompanying music video and short film, written, directed and produced by RED and starring the band, can be seen below.

"'The Evening Hate' dives into the deep-seeded hatred that everyone has felt at some point or another," says RED bassist Randy Armstrong as the band borrows the song's title from the nickname coined by World War I frontline trench soldiers in 1915 regarding the relentless enemy bombing. "While we all experience or witness hate throughout life, whether it be physical, mental or emotional, we all have the ability to crawl out and rise above such a tremendous adversary, hell bent on division and destruction. Without hate, the world would never know what true love really is."

Logging over two million albums sold, two Top 10 Billboard 200 albums, three RIAA gold certifications, 24 No. 1 songs and 2,500 concerts across 25 countries, the band, comprised of Michael Barnes (vocals), identical twin brothers Anthony (guitars) and Randy Armstrong, and longtime live drummer, now official band member, Dan Johnson, is ready to take over the creative reigns going forward with the formation of Red Entertainment and the support of its fans.

"RED's greatest outside strength has always been their loyal legion of fans affectionately known as the Rednation," says Randy. "They are the only ones who've shown as much heart, soul and love for this band and we wouldn't be here without them."

"We want the next chapter of RED to be the most true to who we are as a band, and it's the fans that have always kept us going," adds Anthony. "Now with total control, fans won't have to wait for music to come out every two to three years! We can do what we want, when we want and with whomever we want in order to make the best rock music we know how."

"We are so grateful for your love and support and the best way we know how to say thank you is by bringing you great music for years to come," continues Barnes.

Taking the new single and a bevy of its No. 1 hits and fan favorites on the road, the band will soon announce a major fall tour.

MISERY LOVES CO. Returns With Another New Song, 'Way Back Home'

MISERY LOVES CO. Returns With Another New Song, 'Way Back Home'

Swedish industrial metal pioneers MISERY LOVES CO. haven't released a new album in 19 years. Instead they have been putting out one great song after the other. And their latest track might be the best one so far.

"Way Back Home" is the fourth release since the band got back together again in 2016. Just like "Would You?", "Suburban Breakdown" and their version of "Only Happy When It Rains", it's got "MISERY LOVES CO. classic" written all over it. The song is uptempo and energetic, but still has a lot of that characteristic melancholy that we all love so much.

"Way Back Home" was mixed by Roberto Laghi (IN FLAMES, ENTOMBED A.D.) and mastered by Richard Sporrong. Behind the drumkit was, as always, Jesper Skarin (VAK, THE FIELD, GÖSTA BERLINGS SAGA). The cover was designed by Jerker Josefsson.

MISERY LOVES CO.'s new album is currently being mixed and will see the light of day later this year.

MISERY LOVES CO. released its self-titled debut in 1995 (a year earlier in Scandinavia) and soon became one of Europe's most talked-about up-and-coming metal bands. With songs like "My Mind Still Speaks" and "Kiss Your Boots", they managed to mix aggressiveness with melody and innovativeness with an impressive songwriting. Both audience and critics took the band to their hearts, and perhaps Metal Hammer said it best: "If someone were to prescribe a formula for how metal should sound in 1995, it could be described in three words — MISERY LOVES CO."

Tours and shows in both Europe and the U.S. followed with such acts as SLAYER, MACHINE HEAD, DEFTONES and PARADISE LOST. MISERY LOVES CO.'s second release, "Not Like Them", earned the band a Grammis (Swedish Grammy equivalent) in the "Best Hard Rock/Metal" category in 1998. This time Patrik's lyrics were even more personal, which is why he, to this day, gets response from people telling him how songs like "Prove Me Wrong" helped them get through bad times.

The year 2000 saw the band release its last album, "Your Vision Was Never Mine To Share", which was a huge step for the band musically. The dynamics of songs like the title track and "On Top of The World" were more impressive than ever and the band progressed in a very exciting artistic direction. Still, just a few months later, the band split up and the world became an inferior place.

Until 2016, when MISERY LOVES CO. returned to the live stage at Gefle Metal Festival (Sweden), Bloodstock (U.K.) and Brutal Assault (Czech Republic) and has since then done club shows in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Uppsala. In 2017 they also boarded the world's biggest metal cruise, 70000 Tons Of Metal.

AKTAION Reveal New Single “In The Blink Of An Eye”

AKTAION Reveal New Single “In The Blink Of An Eye”

Taken from their forthcoming new album Above Empires, Swedish melodic metal outfit Aktaion have unleashed a brand new single “In The Blink Of An Eye” in their first outing since 2017 single “Cancer”.

“In The Blink Of An Eye” is the very first music from the band and it was recorded in their hometown of Halmstad, Sweden. "With the help of liftamountain who edited and recorded the video we wanted to create a strong introduction of both the album and the band. With the video we wanted to grasp some sense of desperation and panic in violently and unwilling losing one’s life, as the song title puts it, in the blink of an eye."

The brand new single is out now, and available on all major streaming platforms ahead of the forthcoming full length slated for release August 23rd.

Above Empires is the third Aktaion full length following 2015's Throne and 2016's Parade of Nature. "With this album the main goal we wanted to achieve was to get straight to the point!" states guitarist Francis Larsson. "Riffs; straight to the point, song structures; straight to the point, lyrics; straight to the point. Before, we ventured into longer songs with many layers but this time we wanted to challenge ourselves in exploring fewer elements in each song, and getting the most out of each riff and melody. This album is also a first for Aktaion as we, in contrast to our first two albums, went into a studio. We collaborated with Studio Fredman and Obsidian Recording Studios for the recording, and mixing and mastering together with Fredrik Nordström. With this album we really took our time with writing and pre-production as we had almost a whole year to prepare for the studio. We recorded several versions of the songs, and from an early stage worked together with Robert Kukla at Obsidian Recording Studios. In the end we surpassed everything we done in the past in terms of sound and songs. This is the ultimate Aktaion experience."

MEGADETH Guitarist KIKO LOUREIRO Pays Tribute To ANDRÉ MATOS: 'Destiny United Us For Nine Years'

MEGADETH Guitarist KIKO LOUREIRO Pays Tribute To ANDRÉ MATOS: 'Destiny United Us For Nine Years'

Former ANGRA and current MEGADETH guitarist Kiko Loureiro has paid tribute to Brazilian singer André Matos, who died earlier today at the age of 47.

Matos formed ANGRA in 1991 and appeared on the band's first three albums, before leaving to launch SHAMAN. André then went on to pursue a solo career while continuing to stay involved with a number of outside projects.

Loureiro wrote on his Facebook page: "What a sad morning. A phone call and the news that André Matos passed away.

"Life is too fragile. I cried. Since I was 14 years old back in the Rio Branco school, André was already a benchmark. We all wanted to be like him. The unparalleled voice, the talent for the piano. Luckily, the destiny united us for nine years.

"In the years we spent together, we have created and lived incredible things which are kept in the most special place in my memory. The crazy dream of having a world-famous heavy metal band that we talked about while sitting on the bus going to rehearsals. The songs he wrote are timeless (play 'Carry On'!), the albums… from our first precarious shows to the big tours in Europe. Everything is coming back to my mind now. From his peerless high notes to the glance over the round glasses.

"André, you were and will always be so important to us all.

"This week he said he wanted to play together again after 20 years. Too sad.

"Your voice, your songs and your piano will be eternal for all of us fans.

"Thank you, André. RIP"

Kiko joined ANGRA in 1993, only two years after the act was founded, and was the band's longest-serving member after guitarist Rafael Bittencourt. He appeared on each of the group's first eight studio efforts, including 2014's "Secret Garden".

Que manhã triste! Um telefonema e a notícia que André Matos faleceu. A vida é frágil demais. Chorei. Desde os 14 anos,...Posted by Kiko Loureiro on Saturday, June 8, 2019

SEPULTURA's ANDREAS KISSER Joins STEVE VAI On Stage At RIO MONTREUX JAZZ FESTIVAL (Video)

SEPULTURA's ANDREAS KISSER Joins STEVE VAI On Stage At RIO MONTREUX JAZZ FESTIVAL (Video)

SEPULTURA's Andreas Kisser joined Steve Vai on stage on June 6 at the Rio Montreux Jazz Festival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Professionally filmed video footage of his appearance can be seen below (courtesy of Sepultura Community YouTube channel).

After the show, Kisser took to his Instagram to post a few pictures of the performance along with the following caption: "What a night! Thank you @stevevaihimself for the honor to share the stage with you, truly a dream come true. I listen to your music since Zappa, Alcatraz, David Lee Roth, Whitesnake and of course your solo albums, whatever I do on my music I have some Vai on it somehow. Thank you for your generosity, for your music, your knowledge, your vibe, your everything! I will never forget this. You are the best! Long live Vai!"

Back in May 2015, Vai joined SEPULTURA on stage at the Rock In Rio USA festival in Las Vegas, Nevada.

SEPULTURA will enter the studio in August to begin recording their new album for a tentative February 2020 release via Nuclear Blast. The follow-up to 2017's "Machine Messiah" will once again be recorded at Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden with producer Jens Bogren, who has previously worked with SOILWORK, OPETH, KATATONIA, AMON AMARTH, KREATOR and DRAGONFORCE, among others.

Former ANGRA Singer ANDRÉ MATOS Dead At 47

Former ANGRA Singer ANDRÉ MATOS Dead At 47

André Matos, former lead singer of the Brazilian metal bands ANGRA and VIPER, has died at the age of 47. His death was confirmed by ex-ANGRA drummer Ricardo Confessori, who also played with Matos in SHAMAN (a.k.a. SHAAMAN). Ricardo wrote on his Facebook page: "It is with deep pain in our hearts that we say goodbye to André once again, this time definitively."

André performed last Sunday (June 2) at the Espaço das Américas in São Paulo with SHAMAN and also made a guest appearance with the show's headliners, AVANTASIA.

AVANTASIA leader Tobias Sammet wrote on his Facebook page: "I am devastated by the tragic news about the passing of my friend André Matos whom I shared the stage with only five days ago. I am in shock. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Rest in peace, André Matos."

Veteran German producer Sascha Paeth, who plays guitar in AVANTASIA, said: "I just heard the incredible, devastating news that my longtime friend and companion André Matos passed away today. We had such good and intense times together that I will never forget. We happily met again after a lot of years last Sunday and now he's gone. I am so sad. Thanks for everything, André, and my deepest condolences to his family."

German metallers RAGE wrote on social media: "We are in shock about the news of the passing of our good old friend André Matos! A big loss to the metal community. You'll never be forgotten, brother... REST IN PEACE!"

Out of respect for their former bandmate, the current members of ANGRA have decided to postpone tonight's concert at Templo Music in São Paulo. The gig will now take place on July 28. The group said in a statement: "It wouldn't make sense to go on stage to play while we cry for the loss of our journey companion, who was such a big part of our history. On this day, our instruments are quiet in mourning."

Matos's longtime friend and former bandmate, founding VIPER guitarist Felipe Machado, told Veja São Paulo: "I'm shocked, very sad. I still do not know the details, but I know he did a great show last week, and he was fine. I do not know what might have happened. I only know that Brazil has lost our greatest rock singer, the most incredible voice, a talented pianist. I do not know what to say."

Matos left ANGRA in 2000 and was replaced by Eduardo "Edu" Falaschi,. Falaschi quit ANGRA in May 2012. For the past few years, ANGRA has been fronted by Italian vocalist Fabio Lione (VISION DIVINE, RHAPSODY OF FIRE, KAMELOT).

BLOODRED HOURGLASS Streaming “Waves Of Black” Video

BLOODRED HOURGLASS Streaming “Waves Of Black” Video

Finnish metallers Bloodred Hourglass are set to release their brand new album, Godsend. The album will be available worldwide June 28th via Out Of Line Music. With three studio albums already under their belt, Godsend showcases the quintet’s exemplary musical chops and melodic ability, establishing them as one of the finest groups working in the modern death metal genre today. To experience Bloodred Hourglass, check out the first video from the new album, “Waves Of Black”, below.

Of Godsend, BRHG’s frontman Jarkko Koukonen commented, “Godsend is so far the best version of a band called Bloodred Hourglass. This album modernizes our sound and the output is fresh and diverse. Expect an album full of harsh attacking metal!”

Godsend was recorded at Soundspiral Audio (Before The Dawn, Gloria Morti) with Juho Raiha and mixed and mastered by Henrik Udd (Bring Me The Horizon, Architects). The album artwork was designed by Tuomas Koivurinne, in cooperation with Miika Saari.

Last year, Bloodred Hourglass visited several different festivals outside Finnish borders and returned to Europe in March-April for a full-length tour with Swedish metallers Evergrey. Additionally, in May the band will be performing in Japan for the first time. Going international doesn’t mean BRHG would forget their home country: during spring and summer the band will perform in various Finnish events and festivals.

Tracklisting:

“Waves Of Black”
“The Unfinished Story”
“Devourer”
“Alysia”
“My Route”
“Pieces”
