HE IS LEGEND Releases 'Boogiewoman' Video

HE IS LEGEND Releases 'Boogiewoman' Video

"Boogiewoman", the new Myles Erfurth-directed video from North Carolina's HE IS LEGEND, can be seen below. The song is taken from the band's new album, "White Bat", which will be released on June 28 via Spinefarm Records.

HE IS LEGEND frontman Schuylar Croom commented: "Myles Erfurth and I have been trying to team up for a while now. It was a pleasure making this as we are both horror fanatics. We knew we had something special when one of our actors walked off set because the vibe was a little too dark for her.

"I think this the best way to showcase the horror aspect LEGEND has always brought to the table. We had the pleasure of having our friend Britney Fontaine do the horror gags for us as well, which was super exciting. This will not be the last thing we team up to shoot, that's for sure!"

The quartet — Croom, Adam Tanbouz (lead guitar), Matty Williams (bass) and Jesse Shelley (drums) — is bolstered by a cult fan base that includes members of your favorite band.

For "White Bat", HE IS LEGEND diligently worked across the country. Shelley recorded drums in Atlanta at Glow In The Dark Studios with Matt Goldman. Guitars and bass were tracked at Warriorsound with Al Jacobs. Meanwhile, Croom ventured out West to reteam with Mitch Marlow for vocals in Los Angeles.

Inspired by Michelle McNamara's true crime classic "I'll Be Gone In The Dark", Croom wandered around the shadiest and most shadowy corners of the city of angels. Getting into a menacing mindset for the concept, he visited the grave of Walt Disney, canvased mausoleums, went to the Museum of Death, and "sat in crazy seedy little bars, wrote, and got into this headspace — like preparing for an acting role."

"'White Bat' is the purest, most passionate, and the most united HE IS LEGEND has been since we wrote 'It Hates You'. I think this album has something for every fan of each chapter in our history," said Croom about the album, which is HE IS LEGEND's sixth full-length overall and second for Spinefarm.

Ultimately, "White Bat" "has a moodiness and heaviness we haven't ventured into in a while," according to Croom. "It's conceptual. More than the content and concept, the music is representative of what we are now."

"White Bat" track listing:

01. White Bat

02. Burn All Your Rock Records

03. When The Woods Were Young

04. Eye Teeth

05. Talking Stalker

06. Bent

07. Resister, Resist Her

08. Uncanny Valley

09. The Interloper

10. Skin So Soft

RATT Performs At Michigan's HARLEYFEST (Video)

RATT Performs At Michigan's HARLEYFEST (Video)

Fan-filmed video footage of RATT's June 8 performance at Harleyfest 2019 in Farmington Hills, Michigan can be seen below.

Last month, RATT singer Stephen Pearcy recently told Sleaze Roxx that the band is planning to release new music in 2020. "We are concentrating on a couple of new RATT songs for next year and a video and some other things," he said. "So you know, we have a lot to accomplish here."

Asked which members will be involved in the songwriting for RATT's new material, Pearcy said: "Ummm. Well, first, it's going to be Juan [Croucier, bass] and myself. You know, 'Lack of Communication', 'You're In Love' and all these other songs that we co-wrote together, so we're going to try along those veins for songwriting. And we'll see what happens. I have plenty of ideas. Juan's got plenty of ideas and we'll see what the other guys have to offer down the line."

RATT's current lineup includes Pearcy and Croucier, along with drummer Pete Holmes (BLACK 'N BLUE) and guitarists Jordan Ziff (RAZER) and Chris Sanders (BRITNY FOX, KNIGHT FURY).

This past January, Pearcy underwent knee surgery. The operation came three months after two disastrous RATT shows that saw the 62-year-old singer incapacitated to the point where he had trouble remembering the words to some of the band's biggest hits.

Pearcy later apologized to the RATT fans, saying in a statement that he was "dealing with a pain-management issue due to a bad knee." He added that he "made the critical error of adding alcohol to my pain meds while on stage" at the September concert in Huntington, New York "and it destroyed my performance."

RATT played its first show of 2019 on May 4 at the Domination México festival in Mexico City.

BEYOND CREATION Premier Official Live Video For "The Afterlife"

BEYOND CREATION Premier Official Live Video For "The Afterlife"

Canadian progressive technical death metal masters, Beyond Creation, have released a live video for the track "The Afterlife," which is taken from the band's latest album, Algorythm. The footage was captured at the band's album release show on December 8, 2018 in their hometown of Montreal, Quebec.

The band comments on the video: "What a pleasure it was to work with Ismael Mossadeq and his crew in making this music video for our song ‘The Afterlife!’ We shot this during the Algorythm album release show on December 8th, 2018, at Le National in Montreal, QC. There are reasons why most metal bands will agree that Montreal is one of their favourite stops on North American tours;  the energy, the fans, the crew and the venues themselves make up for one particularly unique vibe, and this video perfectly captures that! We are proud of our hometown and the impact it has been having on the metal scene! Huge thanks to everyone who came out that night and made it such an unforgettable one! Stay tuned, we have more content to share from this gig! Enjoy, share, like, and subscribe! Peace!"

ZONDER / WEHRKAMP Release "The Next Big Thing" Music Video

ZONDER / WEHRKAMP Release "The Next Big Thing" Music Video

Zonder/Wehrkamp, the band featuring drummer Mark Zonder and guitarist/keyboardist Gary Wehrkamp, recently released their debut album, If It’s Real. Today, the band has unleashed the third production-performance video, for the song "The Next Big Thing".

Gary on the video: "I’m happy to release this third video from our new record. This was the second song we wrote and recorded. After the first one was done, Mark Zonder emailed me and said, 'Ok. We have our first song . What’s the next big thing?' I thought, 'That’s a good title. Let’s get started' and immediately started writing. It was so easy after hearing his inspiring drum loop. My good friends Paul Dworakivsky and Rick Fisher (with Ray Palumbo) came over with some cameras and started filing me playing the opening acoustic part. With help from Valerie Shoemaker and Alex Solca, we soon had the start to our first video. I hope you enjoy this! It’s the next big thing!"

The new album is available on all digital download and streaming platforms worldwide. For those who want a physical product, CDs are available via CDBaby and at ZWband.com. Fans who purchase from ZWband.com will receive an autographed copy of the album along with a Zonder/Wehrkamp guitar pick and refrigerator magnet.

Mark Zonder comments on new album: "Please listen to the Zonder/Wehrkamp album as new music, a new experience. Yes, it is Gary Wehrkamp and myself doing the entire record ourselves and artists trademark sounds usually come through the music, but this is not a Warlord, Shadow Gallery or Fates record. This is just Gary and I being creative in a dark, moody and atmospheric way. Enjoy the journey."

While Zonder/Wehrkamp takes the two musicians on a different path, their musical pasts are very much influences on their current project. "If It’s Real” resonates with a tenebrous emotional intensity wrapped in a more melodic, ethereal sound and philosophical take on progressive hard rock.

Tracklisting:

"I Can't Believe"
"If It's Real"
"I'd Do Anything"
"Last Place"
"Two Years"
"Where Are The Children Going?"
"Too Late"
"The Next Big Thing"
"It's Not The End"
"Goodnight"

TAU CROSS Feat. VOIVOD, AMEBIX Members: 'Messengers Of Deception' Album Due In August

TAU CROSS Feat. VOIVOD, AMEBIX Members: 'Messengers Of Deception' Album Due In August

TAU CROSS, the multinational punk/heavy metal collective featuring AMEBIX bassist/frontman Rob "The Baron" Miller, VOIVOD drummer Michel "Away" Langevin, and members of cult crust outfits MISERY and WAR//PLAGUE, will release its third full-length, titled "Messengers Of Deception", on August 9 via Relapse Records.

Recorded at Signaturetone Studios and mastered by Adam Tucker (THOU, FALSE), "Messengers Of Deception" expands on TAU CROSS's trademark dark, infectious, guitar-driven epics across its 54 esoteric minutes. Album rippers like "Burn With Me", "The Sidhe" and the driving title track see TAU CROSS dissect stories passed down through thousand years of manipulation. Topics range from Gnostic Cosmology, Elizabethan and Neoplatonic magic, the Ultraterrestrial Hypothesis as outlined through the works of Jacques Vallee and John Keel, and more. TAU CROSS synthesizes these ideas and distills them into a dark, turbulent, sonic odyssey, questioning the means through which our existence is manipulated by outsiders.

In advance of the album's release, TAU CROSS issues the first preview of the record, noting "'Burn With Me' was written as a reminder of the sacred path of the Heretic, in the age of the new Puritans."

View TAU CROSS's "Burn With Me" music video below.

BLOCK BUSTER To Release Debut Album In September; "Move" Music Video Streaming

BLOCK BUSTER To Release Debut Album In September; "Move" Music Video Streaming

Frontiers Music Srl announces the release of Block Buster's debut album, Losing Gravity, on September 13. Pre-order the album here. The band has released their debut single and music video, "Move", which can viewed below.

Block Buster are an up and coming band from the Finnish hard rock scene and one of the newest signings to Frontiers’ New Breed roster. Young, full of energy, and ready to carry the rock ‘n roll torch into the future, Block Buster are yet another gem from the robust Nordic hard rock scene. Mainly influenced by rock music from the 70's and the 80's along with a good dose of current rock bands, the band's debut Losing Gravity is a healthy mixture of these various influences.

The band says, "Our style is a combination of many things. We grew up listening to "classic" rock, but we also like many of today's artists from different genres, who tend to influence us just as much. So, we guess it's a mixture of modern and retro. We like to think the result is quite fresh, as we don't really try to recreate the sound of the 70's or the 80's, we rather want to sound like a 21st century band. All in all, we just play rock music."

If you're going to a Block Buster show, you will witness an energetic, loud, sweaty & skull crushing rock 'n' roll spectacle performed by four young men having the best time of their lives. See below for upcoming tour dates.

Tracklisting:

"Out In The City"
"Gone By The Morning"
"Flammable"
"Back From The Shadows"
"Losing Gravity"
"Sweet Mary Jane" (Album Version)

DEADLAND RITUAL Feat. GEEZER BUTLER, MATT SORUM, STEVE STEVENS: Video Of SWEDEN ROCK FESTIVAL Performance

DEADLAND RITUAL Feat. GEEZER BUTLER, MATT SORUM, STEVE STEVENS: Video Of SWEDEN ROCK FESTIVAL Performance

DEADLAND RITUAL, the new band featuring bassist Geezer Butler (BLACK SABBATH), guitarist Steve Stevens (BILLY IDOL, VINCE NEIL), drummer Matt Sorum (GUNS N' ROSES, VELVET REVOLVER) and singer Franky Perez (APOCALYPTICA), performed at the Sweden Rock Festival in Sölvesborg, Sweden on June 6. Fan-filmed video footage of the concert can be seen below.

As expected, DEADLAND RITUAL's setlist consisted of several original tracks alongside classic songs from the members' previous bands, including BLACK SABBATH's "Symptom Of The Universe", "Neon Knights" and "Sweet Leaf", VELVET REVOLVER's "Slither" and BILLY IDOL's "Rebel Yell".

In a recent interview with Billboard, Butler spoke about which songs might make it into DEADLAND RITUAL's live set, saying: "We're thinking about doing seven original songs, which we've done up to now. Probably three or four SABBATH songs. 'N.I.B.', because that's what I'm associated with particularly; the bass intro and all that kind of stuff. And some stuff that SABBATH didn't do, like 'Symptom Of the Universe'. Steve loves that one. And Franky likes 'Heaven And Hell' and we might do one or two others; see which ones work out best in rehearsals. But more obscure SABBATH songs, rather than 'Iron Man' or 'Paranoid', that's been done a million times. A couple VELVET REVOLVER. 'Slither' definitely, I'm not sure bout the second one, and I think we're going to do 'Rebel Yell' [by] Billy Idol."

Butler went on to say that there is no long-term plan for DEADLAND RITUAL at the moment. "We're just going to see how it goes," he said. "We've written seven songs up to now, so we have to get those recorded. We've got quite a few record companies interested. But at first, it was 'have a jam, and let's do some festivals.' But it seems to have gone beyond that, people are taking it more seriously now. So if things work out with the gigs that we do we'll carry on. I'm excited about it. I really like the music we're doing, not restricted to any kind of formula. And as I say, each track stands on its own, different in its own way. I'm really looking forward looking to it."

DEADLAND RITUAL recently released its first two songs, "Down In Flames" and "Broken And Bruised". Both tracks, which were produced by Greg Fidelman (METALLICA, SLIPKNOT), were made available via Sonik Riot Records/AWAL powered by Kobalt.

DEADLAND RITUAL made its live debut on May 28 at the Troubadour in West Hollywood, California.

ANTHRAX Bassist On Upcoming Album: 'We're Very Happy With What We've Come Up With'

ANTHRAX Bassist On Upcoming Album: 'We're Very Happy With What We've Come Up With'

At his past weekend's Rock Hard Festival in Germany, ANTHRAX bassist Frank Bello spoke to WDR's "Rockpalast" about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the band's follow-up to 2016's "For All Kings" album.

"It's in the works right now, and we're very happy with what we've come up with," he said. "I'm an ANTHRAX fan — we have to be ANTHRAX fans in the band to put the music out we do — so I think, as fans, so far what we have we're very, very happy with. We're very psyched. It gets your gut going. I can't wait. I'm very excited."

According to Frank, it will still be a while before ANTHRAX is ready to enter the studio to begin recording the new disc.

"We're in the process [of putting the songs together]," he said. "Some songs we have the skeletons of songs, and we keep building like a pie — we keep building like a cake. And it works that way — it's always worked that way. We like to take our time and make sure it's the right song and the right record. It's important."

He added: "We're gonna let it breathe. That's what we do — we write songs for a little while, we go on tour, and we live with the songs and let it talk to us. What it needs and making sure the songs are right."

ANTHRAX drummer Charlie Benante recently told Australia's "Everblack" podcast that the band's new music is shaping up to be "a little more in the aggressive style."

"For All Kings" was called by some critics ANTHRAX's strongest album to date. Its arrival followed a five-year period during which the band experienced a rebirth of sorts, beginning with ANTHRAX's inclusion on the 2010 "Big Four" tour with METALLICA, SLAYER and MEGADETH, and continuing with the 2011 release of comeback LP "Worship Music".

The group's upcoming disc will be ANTHRAX's third full-length release since the return of singer Joey Belladonna, who came back into the fold for the "Big Four" shows, in the process helping inspire a new wave of creativity.

Find more details, and order your copy here.

King's X recently announced that they were entering the studio to record their highly-anticipated new album - the first to be released in over a decade - scheduled to drop this year via Australia's leading international independent record label, Golden Robot Records. The label announced their global signing of King's X in December.

King's X entered Blacksound Studio in Pasadena, California with renowned producer Michael Parnin - recognized for his work with a varied range of artists, from Rage Against the Machine and Missy Elliott, to Andrew Lloyd Webber and Barbara Streisand.

Commenting on how it felt to be returning to the studio after 10 years, dUg Pinnick said, "Good question! I haven't thought about it much, been super busy. But got a ton of tunes to submit. I never know what to expect. I'm always surprised when it's done and can see it as a whole picture. And we're making a record after how long?! I've been waiting for this to happen for a very long time, and I'm totally looking forward to it."

Jerry Gaskill added, "It's been a while since we've made a record together. I go back and forth between excitement and fear. But when it gets right down to it, I think excitement wins. I look forward to sharing all of our ideas together and seeing what comes of it all. If nothing else, it will be the next King's X record."

Ty Tabor said, "I'm excited to see where we are at these days. We're all bringing ideas in."

Michael Parnin adds about recording the new album with King's X, "A great story in the making... As a huge fan of the band from the beginning, I am unbelievably excited to work on the next long-awaited chapter. Some of my favorite and most artistically rewarding projects have been working with dUg over the past 10 years, namely "Strum Sum Up" and the fun Hendrix Tribute Album we did together... Likewise, I'm honored and looking forward to working with Jerry and Ty who are each masters of their craft."

Producer Michael Parnin at Blacksound Studio

Derek Shulman, Executive Chairman of Worldwide Expansion for Golden Robot Records adds, "I am delighted to finally be able to work with one of the most respected, creative rock bands of the past 30+ years. King's X is not only a superb rock band with an ardent fan base, but are also a 'musician musicians' band. Golden Robot Records is determined to finally help King's X receive the worldwide recognition it fully deserves."

Since the release of their debut record, Out Of The Silent Planet, in 1988, King's X released over a dozen albums that have seen them rightfully earn their place on the rock royalty family tree. Fusing progressive metal, funk and soul grooves with vocal arrangements rooted in blues, gospel and even the British Invasion era influences, King's X created a style all their own which continues to be an inspiration for bands to this day.

Featuring vocalist and bassist Doug Pinnick, guitarist Ty Tabor and drummer Jerry Gaskill, King's X have never changed their line-up, a rarity in the music world and a testament to the band and musicians and friends.

Critically acclaimed from the start, King's X are musician's musicians, name-dropped by everyone from Anthrax and Suicidal Tendencies to Iron Maiden and Blue Murder for their instrumental prowess. Pearl Jam's bassist Jeff Ament even declared that "King's X invented grunge". They also enjoyed a long life via the David Letterman Show with their track, "We Were Born To Be Loved" (from 1990's Faith Hope Love), also a favorite of the Paul Shaffer's CBS Orchestra to play during commercial breaks.

In 1992, King's X signed to Atlantic Records/Megaforce Records, released three albums and toured with bands as diverse as Scorpions, Type O Negative and Pearl Jam. In the early 2000's, King's X released three studio albums and their first official live album via Metal Blade Records. In 2005, the band signed to German-based progressive music specialty label, InsideOut Music, and released Ogre Tones, an album described as a return to the bands classic sound. King's X forged ahead with new albums, DVD's and tours up until 2012, when drummer Jerry Gaskill suffered a major heart attack. The band then quickly compiled an exclusive live release from their archives entitled, Burning Down Boston. The proceeds of which went directly to assisting Gaskill with his medical expenses. They rolled on for two more years until Jerry suffered another heart attack, which resulted in him having a double bypass operation and ultimately led to the band taking an indefinite hiatus.

This break didn't last long, as they were back on the road in mid-2015, shortly afterward announcing they would begin work on a new studio album. This would be the band's first since 2008's XV. King's X began meetings with Golden Robot Records management in Los Angeles in early 2017, eventually signing a global deal in October 2018.

While it's been a decade since King's X have released a new record, the wait has definitely been worth it! Watch this space for news on the forthcoming album in the very near future.

DISTURBED Guitarist Says 'A Reason To Fight' Song 'Almost Didn't Happen'

DISTURBED Guitarist Says 'A Reason To Fight' Song 'Almost Didn't Happen'

Guitarist Dan Donegan spoke to Rock 100.5 The KATT about the lyrical inspiration behind "A Reason To Fight", the second single from DISTURBED's latest album, "Evolution", which was released last October. The song tackles depression and addiction and was written in part about vastly talented and beloved people we lost too soon due to addiction and depression, such as Chester Bennington from hard-rock peers LINKIN PARK.

"It's just such a deep message," Dan said (see video below). "Early on, when we were discussing topics of what we wanted to touch on, writing these songs, we put our heart on our sleeve. We knew it connected big with us personally, 'cause we've all had either family members or friends that had battled those demons of depression or addiction. So to play it night after night now and see the reaction from the fans out there, it's amazing to see how many people are open to it. You can see some fans that might be some hardcore kid getting in a moshpit the song before, and then we play that song, and that same big dude is in tears, 'cause he's got his own personal struggles that he may be dealing with."

According to Donegan, "A Reason To Fight" was a last-minute addition to "Evolution", which was once again recorded The Hideout Recording Studio in Las Vegas, Nevada with producer Kevin Churko. "That was something that almost didn't happen, because musically, I had part of the idea, and I didn't have enough of it to where I was ready to present it to the guys," the guitarist explained. "And we had downtime in the studio — I think Churko was miking up the drum kit — and I just started playing that intro piece in the control room, just killing time. And then David [Draiman, vocals] happened to be in the room, and he was, like, 'Wait a second. Keep playing that. Just loop that part over and over.' And it just started to come together. He had a great melody for it right away, and we made it a priority. But if it wasn't for that moment, that might have been backburnered as well, because it just happened to be the right time, the right moment. And surprisingly, it's probably the first time where we had a videographer with us in the studio who captured the moment as it was happening, which I don't think has ever happened in our career of writing something on the spot and then capturing it on video. I haven't seen the video — I know it exists — but it's great to know that we got a great song out of it and we have footage of it as it happened."

DISTURBED is currently in the midst of an international tour, though they did recently come home for show-stealing performances in Columbus (Sonic Temple Art & Music Fest) and Oklahoma (Rocklahoma). Upcoming dates include shows in Russia, Poland, Israel, Prague, Athens and more.

SLIPKNOT's European tour will run through a July 5 appearance at the Resurrection Fest in Spain. It will be followed by the "Knotfest Roadshow" headline tour of North America. VOLBEAT, GOJIRA and BEHEMOTH will join as special guests on all dates. Produced by Live Nation, the 29-city outing will kick off July 26 in Mountain View, California at Shoreline Amphitheater and continue through September 8 where it will conclude with a performance at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands, Texas.

Singer Corey Taylor admitted a while back that it takes a few days for the band to really get cooking onstage. "It takes a little bit for us, you know. I mean, because we are very active," he told The Pulse Of Radio. " You know, it usually takes a couple of shows before we dial it in and everything's there, you know. It takes our bodies about a week to acclimatize. But, I mean, by the time we get into it, it's all automatic. So we come together pretty quick — at our age, as well. I mean, you know, we're no spry chickens anymore."

The group's sixth studio album, "We Are Not Your Kind", will arrive on August 9. It has been preceded by the release of a new single, "Unsainted", and the first live performance on this album cycle, a two-song appearance on the May 17 edition of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"

View this post on Instagram - Some 20 years ago my brother introduced me to a band. I had never heard such sonics nor violence from any act before that. It completely blew me away. On this night, 20 years later, witnessing guys my age shredding the stage to pieces, watching that mayhem unfold just few steps away, gave me so much energy beyond words. Passion, dedication, hard work. Love. Hate turned into a tool. Watch Pro-Shot Video Of TRIVIUM's Entire Performance At 'DreamHack' Convention

Watch Pro-Shot Video Of TRIVIUM's Entire Performance At 'DreamHack' Convention

Professionally filmed video footage of TRIVIUM's entire June 1 performance at the DreamHack convention in Dallas, Texas can be seen below.

TRIVIUM's latest album, "The Sin And The Sentence", was released in October 2017 via Roadrunner. The disc was recorded with producer Josh Wilbur (LAMB OF GOD, GOJIRA) at Santa Ana, California's Hybrid Studios. The LP features the band's first recordings with new drummer Alex Bent, who joined the band in 2016.

TRIVIUM frontman Matt Heafy spoke to the "That's Not Metal Podcast" about the fact that it has been difficult for the band's core trio — Heafy, guitarist Corey Beaulieu and bassist Paolo Gregoletto — to keep a drummer in the last few years, prior to the addition of Bent.

"The drumming is what the band is built upon, it's the foundation for which all the music is built upon, and if you don't have a strong foundation for a house or a building, it eventually collapses," Matt explained. "And I'm so thankful that the stars finally aligned, after eight records, to find the guy that we needed to find. And I think that when people hear Alex, it's not a question of 'Why?' It's more like an observation, like, 'Oh, I see you did it again, but I know why.' Because he's that freakin' good."

DEADLAND RITUAL Feat. GEEZER BUTLER, MATT SORUM, STEVE STEVENS: Video Of First Concert

DEADLAND RITUAL Feat. GEEZER BUTLER, MATT SORUM, STEVE STEVENS: Video Of First Concert

DEADLAND RITUAL, the new band featuring bassist Geezer Butler (BLACK SABBATH), guitarist Steve Stevens (BILLY IDOL, VINCE NEIL), drummer Matt Sorum (GUNS N' ROSES, VELVET REVOLVER) and singer Franky Perez (APOCALYPTICA), played its first concert last night (Tuesday, May 28) at the Troubadour in West Hollywood, California. Fan-filmed video footage of the show can be seen below (courtesy of Alex Vigil).

DEADLAND RITUAL recently released its first song, "Down In Flames". The track, which was produced by Greg Fidelman (METALLICA, SLIPKNOT), was made available via Sonik Riot Records/AWAL powered by Kobalt.

DEADLAND RITUAL will embark on its first European tour in June.

EMPEROR's IHSAHN On ROB HALFORD: 'He's The Sweetest Guy'

EMPEROR's IHSAHN On ROB HALFORD: 'He's The Sweetest Guy'

In a recent interview with U.K.'s Kerrang! magazine, EMPEROR frontman Ihsahn was asked how it feels to know that one of Rob Halford's favorite albums is EMPEROR's "Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk". "Coming from him, it really feels like a compliment, because he doesn't have to say that," Ihsahn said. "He can say whatever he wants. So if he says something like that, it's because he genuinely feels that way and he means it."

He continued: "He's the sweetest guy; every time I've met him and spoken to him on the phone, he's been amazing. And he's a genuine fan of music as well, and of new metal in general. And just look at JUDAS PRIEST. If we're talking about development — they've done 'Sad Wings Of Destiny' and 'Turbo' and 'Painkiller'. The integrity of being JUDAS PRIEST means it's always PRIEST, but they always have that willingness to change and express themselves in new ways."

Ihsahn added: "If someone told me when I was 10 years old a fraction of what I would be doing, like talking to Rob Halford and playing shows with JUDAS PRIEST, I would have probably had a heart attack."

Halford has long spoken about wanting to work on a black metal album, revealing more than a decade ago that he had discussions with Ihsahn about doing something together.

Last year, he told Noisey that he still hopes something will happen in the future.

"The black metal project!" he said. "It keeps being about to lift the launchpad, but it never quite gets anywhere. I met Nergal from BEHEMOTH recently, and I said, 'You know I love your kind of music. I would love to kind of put my toe into the water and see what would happen.'

"So now I've got these two very nebulous, but I hope at some point very real opportunities, to do something with Nergal and still something to with Ihsahn.

"'Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk' — that's my big EMPEROR album. Both of them are incredible; they just have this real mastery of their world."

Ihsahn released his seventh solo album, "Ámr", in May 2018 via Candlelight/Spinefarm.

Watch RITCHIE BLACKMORE's RAINBOW Perform At Finland's ROCKFEST

Watch RITCHIE BLACKMORE's RAINBOW Perform At Finland's ROCKFEST

Fan-filmed video footage of RAINBOW's June 6 concert at Rockfest in Hyvinkää, Finland can be seen below.

Last month, RAINBOW released a new digital single, "The Storm", via Minstrel Hall Music. The song is said to be "a rocked-up remake" of an old BLACKMORE'S NIGHT track from the album "Fires At Midnight", which was issued back in 2001.

In April, RAINBOW released a newly recorded version of its song "Black Sheep Of The Family".

The original recording of "Black Sheep Of The Family" — a cover of a track by the band QUATERMASS from 1970 — was included on RAINBOW's debut album, 1975's "Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow".

The first new RAINBOW single since 1996, "Waiting For A Sign", was released in March 2018. The song was penned by Ritchie Blackmore, with lyrics by his wife Candice Night and vocals from RAINBOW's current singer, Ronnie Romero, who is originally from Chile but is now settled in Madrid.

The latest incarnation of RAINBOW released two new studio recordings in 2017, but they weren't original compositions; one was an instrumental song called "Land Of Hope And Glory", which was a reworking of the 1902 British patriotic song of the same name from Edward Elgar's "Pomp And Circumstance March No. 1", while the other was a re-recording of the RAINBOW classic "I Surrender", which was written by Russ Ballard and was first released by RAINBOW in 1981.

"Waiting For A Sign" is included on "Memories in Rock II", which was released in April 2018 via Minstrel Hall/Soulfood. The set also contains a double CD of the June 2017 U.K. RAINBOW concerts, a DVD containing over 80 minutes of interview footage with the band and crew, an additional backstage clip and a video for the 2017 studio version of "I Surrender".

Blackmore stepped away from his Renaissance-inspired brand of music with BLACKMORE'S NIGHT in 2016 to perform a handful of shows with a brand-new lineup of the band he had formed after quitting DEEP PURPLE.

Although Ritchie initially said that he had no plans to make a new RAINBOW album — explaining in early 2016 that he wanted to "just get back to playing the old songs one more time" — he revealed to Japan's Burrn! magazine that he changed his mind.

In addition to Blackmore and Romero, the current incarnation of RAINBOW includes STRATOVARIUS keyboardist Jens Johansson, BLACKMORE'S NIGHT drummer David Keith, bassist Bob Nouveau (a.k.a. Robert "Bob" Curiano, ex-BLACKMORE'S NIGHT), and backing singers Candice Night and Lady Lynn.

The two shows RAINBOW played in Germany in June 2016 were caught on camera to produce "Memories In Rock - Live In Germany", which was released in November 2016 via Eagle Rock Entertainment on DVD+2CD, Blu-ray+2CD, and digital formats.

After Ritchie left DEEP PURPLE for the final time in 1993, he reformed RAINBOW for one album (1995's "Stranger In Us All") and one tour, ending things in Denmark in 1997.

SHREDHEAD Release Live Unholy Album; Return From Japan Tour

SHREDHEAD Release Live Unholy Album; Return From Japan Tour

Israeli thrashers Shredhead, who recently wrapped up a Japanese tour alongside DevilDriver, will celebrate the worldwide release of their third album, Live Unholy, with a record release party in their native country next month.

“Touring Japan for the first time was an amazing experience,” says guitarist Razi Elbaz. “We were overwhelmed by the number of new fans coming to us after the shows for merch, pictures and to chat with the band. We were also really surprised to learn not only we had existing fans in Japan, but some of them actually showed up for all three shows to support and see us night after night!”

Live Unholy, available now via Legend Recordings, was recorded at Antfarm Studios in Denmark and recorded and mixed by Tue Madsen (Meshuggah, Suicide Silence, Baby Metal, Sick Of It All). The album received over 10,000 streams on Spotify within its first week of release. On its release day, Live Unholy, received placement on iTunes’ Featured and Best Sellers charts and peaked at number 40 on the Top 100 Metal Albums chart.

Combining brute force with modern and relentless heaviness, Shredhead has been hailed as one of the top Israeli metal exports to date.

The Live Unholy release party will take place on July 27th at the Barby Club in Tel Aviv.

Says bassist Lee Lavy, “Last time Shredhead headlined the Barby Club was the annual Shredding Halloween party where we decorated the entire venue, which was packed by more than 500 local metalheads that showed up in costumes. The show was marked as one of the biggest in the history of the local scene!”

Shredhead previously released two albums, Human Nature and Death is Righteous. Between the two albums, the band was victorious in the Israeli Metal Battle and had the opportunity to represent Israel at the Wacken Metal Battle in Germany.

Tracklisting:

“Live Unholy”
“Overshadows”
“King Maggot”
“Burn Your Master”
“Unmarked”
“Create Hate”
“Fuck The World”

NEVALRA Streaming “It Dies In Vain” Video

NEVALRA Streaming “It Dies In Vain” Video

In conjunction with today's release of their full-length debut Conjure The Storm, the extreme/melodic blackened death metal trio Nevalra has unveiled a live performance-based music video for the album's blistering “It Dies In Vain.”

Says guitarist/vocalist Scott Eames, "Nevalra is very pleased to present our monstrous music video for 'It Dies In Vain'. We brought in Iron Elephant Studios from Baltimore to help us film and produce the visuals, and the band could not be more pleased with the collaboration and final result. 'It Dies In Vain' has become one of our favorite songs to perform and holds one of the most unique guitar solos on our new album Conjure The Storm. Here Is Quality Video Of RONNIE JAMES DIO's Hologram Performing In Asbury Park, New Jersey

Here Is Quality Video Of RONNIE JAMES DIO's Hologram Performing In Asbury Park, New Jersey

The new Ronnie James Dio hologram played on June 8 at Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park, New Jersey. The show was part of the month-long "Dio Returns" U.S. tour, which kicked off on May 31 in Fort Myers, Florida.

The Dio hologram production uses audio of Ronnie's live performances from throughout his career, with the DIO DISCIPLES band playing live, consisting of Simon Wright on drums, Craig Goldy on guitar, and Scott Warren on keyboards, along with Bjorn Englen on bass. Also appearing with them are former JUDAS PRIEST singer Tim "Ripper" Owens and ex-LYNCH MOB frontman Oni Logan.

The 90-minute concert includes all of the DIO fan favorites — such as "Holy Diver", "King Of Rock And Roll" and "We Rock" — plus select tracks from RAINBOW and BLACK SABBATH.

Fan-filmed video footage of the Asbury Park show can be seen below (courtesy of YouTube user "Steve Easton").

The legendary heavy metal singer died in 2010 at the age of 67 from stomach cancer. His hologram made its debut at the Wacken Open Air festival in August 2016 in front of more than 75,000 fans.

After the tour's initial seven-date run was completed in December 2017, Ronnie's hologram underwent "some changes" before the launch of the 2019 leg of the "Dio Returns" world tour.

Hologram production company Eyellusion, which created the Dio hologram, recently signed with the Agency for the Performing Arts (APA), represented by agency partner Steve Martin.

Eyellusion CEO Jeff Pezzuti said: "Ronnie James Dio was not only known for his amazing vocals, but also his incredible stage shows and performances. This show is a must-see for all fans of Ronnie, new and old. The new stage production we have created, plus the brand new Ronnie James Dio hologram, have to be seen to be believed. This is a first-ofits kind -metal show! We are celebrating Ronnie, with his live vocals, with his band he toured with for the last 17 years, and with a show that his fans will love! It's an over-the-top metal experience that will have the fans raising their horns throughout the show! We are excited for everyone to see what we have in store for the U.S. and the world to follow!"

Ronnie's widow and longtime manager, Wendy Dio, who is a member of the Eyellusion team, spoke to Patch.com about the new Ronnie James Dio hologram. Asked what is different about it, Wendy said: "Technology has come a long way since the first one was created. I'm much happier with the new one. It's a million times better. I wasn't happy by the end of the last tour. I wanted Ronnie to look more like Ronnie. I was very picky about the eyebrows actually. Maybe someone else wouldn't have noticed it but I noticed it. I wanted to make sure that everything was perfect. He's also now in the same line as the band, in front. Before, he was at the back of the stage."

According to Wendy, "about a year" of planning and design went into creating the new hologram. "It's like a cartoon," she said. "Every stroke, every eyelash, has to be done individually. Then there's me going, 'I don't like that!' The people involved really care about it. We're all there during the creation, making it exactly what we wanted to do."

Wendy told Patch.com that critics of the Dio hologram are "entitled to their opinion. I just ask that people come and see the show first before criticizing," she said. "We got a lot of flak in the beginning but I think more and more people are getting used to it. It's for the fans. It's for the fans who would love to see Ronnie back up on the stage and the ones that never got a chance to see him. I think Ronnie would approve. If anybody saw the 'Sacred Heart' tour in 1986 we tried to make a hologram then. We had Ronnie in a crystal ball hanging from the stage talking through it. Also he was an innovator in music, so why not be an innovator in technology."

Video Premiere: D-A-D's 'Burning Star'

Video Premiere: D-A-D's 'Burning Star'

"Burning Star", the new video from Danish rockers D-A-D, can be seen below. The song is taken from the band's first album in eight years, "A Prayer For The Loud", which was released on May 31 via AFM Records. The follow-up to 2011's "DIC.NII.LAN.DAFT.ERD.ARK" harks back to the core of what D-A-D does better than most: four guys who play thrilling rock music with ferocious energy, catchy songs and an infectious commitment. "A Prayer For The Loud" has a clear musical link to classic D-A-D albums such as "No Fuel Left For The Pilgrims" and "Riskin' It All".

D-A-D was able to pick and choose from a large selection of songs which have been distilled down to what bassist Stig Pedersen describes as the "cream of the crop." Among the 11 tracks on "A Prayer For The Loud", you'll find songs that fit right into a vintage D-A-D mould: throbbing, adrenaline-soaked rock, big ballads and mid-tempo songs guided by strong melodies. According to the band itself, this is a contemporary D-A-D album where the quartet has refined some of their cardinal virtues. Everything superfluous has been discarded in the editing suite, cutting the sound and the band's expression right down to the core.

D-A-D said to say about the new album: "In the past, we have occasionally gone down new avenues to try out stuff that was pretty far from the heart of what we do. It's been a lot of fun, but this time we have tried to narrow it down to the essence. This time around, we are just being who we really are.

"'A Prayer For The Loud' is a record where the focus is on melodies and energy. We've made a real effort when it comes to writing the choruses and it's resulted in some great songs where we were meticulous with the details without losing the original rawness and pure energy."

The band worked on "A Prayer For The Loud" for the past three years, while breaking off to go touring. The album was produced in familiar surroundings at Grapehouse studio in Copenhagen with longtime collaborators Nick Foss and Rune Nissen Petersen. It's resulted in a record which the band is thrilled about.

Frontman Jesper Binzer said: "Most of all, we are proud that we have nailed 11 awesome tracks that are based on where we are right now. We are not shooting in the dark here — this is straight from the heart."

"A Prayer For The Loud" track listing:

CEREBRAL ROT - New Song "Repulsive Infestation Of Cadaver" Now Playing

CEREBRAL ROT - New Song "Repulsive Infestation Of Cadaver" Now Playing

20 Buck Spin continues its 2019 campaign of carnage, presenting the tumultuous Odious Descent Into Decay, the debut LP by Seattle US death metal outfit, Cerebral Rot.

Odious Descent Into Decay will see release on LP, CD, cassette, and all digital platforms via 20 Buck Spin on August 16th. Fans of Fetid, Undergang, early-Carcass, and huffing embalming fluid, rejoice.

The label has issued the album's lead advance single with the gory "Repulsive Infestation Of Cadaver," now streaming on multiple platforms and available to enjoy below.

Continuing to extract the deadliest beings from the dankest corners of the Northwest, 20 Buck Spin summons from the festering swamp-soaked murk the revolting mutation that is Cerebral Rot. Like sewage winding its way through tunnels below the street, the band's music reeks with the stench of vulgarity and noxious body fumes. The band shares members with other acts from across the region including, Fetid, Crurifragium, Cauterized, Caustic Wound, and Excarnated Entity.

Embalmed in an analog toxic dump, the debut Cerebral Rot LP Odious Descent Into Decay follows the Cessation Of Life demo, released in 2018. The new LP melts the skin with radioactive brutality and gurgling bursts of punishing cruelty. Virulent subterranean death metal glistening with pustular fallout and obscure rotten air left too long on the morgue table, the skin peels off and the last gasp of life echoes terrifyingly within. A rank abomination of disgust, Odious Descent Into Decay reliesnot on over technicality but disfiguring physical violence and battering submission in its quest for the true embodiment of sub-underground death as it morphs from one wet distorted monstrosity to another. Like the miserable mess of decayed forms on the cover, the septic sickness of Cerebral Rot has only just begun to spread.

Tracklisting:

"Odious Descent Into Decay"
"Swamped In Festering Excrementia"
"Reeking Septic Mass"
"Cerebral Rot"
"Putrefaction (Eternal Decay)"
"Sardonic Repentance"
"Repulsive Infestation Of Cadaver"
"Primordial Soup Of Radioactive Sewage"
"Foul Stench Of Ruination"

Cerebral Rot will tour across the US in support of the LP alongside 20 Buck Spin kin Fetid. The tour will run from August 29th through October 11th. Watch for the final routing and venue info in the days ahead.

HAMMERFALL Launch Official Lyric Video For "(We Make) Sweden Rock" Single

HAMMERFALL Launch Official Lyric Video For "(We Make) Sweden Rock" Single

Hammerfall will release their new album, Dominion, on August 16 via Napalm Records. The group has unleashed a lyric video for “(We Make) Sweden Rock", the first single off Dominion. Watch the clip below, and purchase/stream the new song digitally here.

Joacim Cans describes the creation of “(We Make) Sweden Rock”: “This is a glorious tribute to the Swedish hard rock and metal movement with a lyrical theme using direct references to both other bands and songs. With catchy contagious riffs and enchanting (ear-worm) melodies this song will be an instant classic at future HammerFall shows. Without the Swedish rock and metal scene with bands like Heavy Load, At The Gates and Yngwie Malmsteen the world would be a pretty boring and dull place! This is our noble tribute to all the bands that inspired not only us to play metal, form bands and eventually crusading around the world in the name of Heavy Metal. All hail the sons of the northern light!"

Dominion  is Hammerfall’s eleventh studio album, and second with Napalm Records. Today, Napalm has launched a physical pre-order for Dominion including CD, vinyl, and a limited edition Deluxe Box Set consisting of a digipack, limited 7” light blue vinyl, limited cassette, cover art print, photo cards, patch and sticker. To view a variety of the Dominion merchandise, head here.

The band has also unveiled the album cover art and tracklisting for Dominion. The artwork was created by renowned visual artist Samwise Didier.

Dominion tracklisting:

"Never Forgive, Never Forget"
"Dominion"
"Testify"
"One Against The World"
"(We Make) Sweden Rock"
"Second To One"
"Scars Of A Generation"
"Dead By Dawn"
"Battleworn"
"Bloodline"
"Chain Of Command"
"And Yet I Smile"

"(We Make) Sweden Rock" lyric video:

For Dominion, Hammerfall re-teamed with James Michael to do vocals at Red Level Three studios, and Fredrik Nordström of Studio Fredman at Castle Black Studios for the instruments on the powerful 12 song collection.

Oscar Dronjak states: "‘Good is not good enough; it has to be great.’ This is the mantra we have applied to every aspect of making this album, from the song writing and rehearsals to the production and the performance of each member. The result is Dominion, a powerful force of nature that cannot be stopped. Once you hear it, you will understand.”

The band’s summer touring starts with Domination Festival in Mexico City and crosses Europe throughout summer 2019, including stops at the legendary Sweden Rock Festival, Graspop Metal Meeting, and Wacken Open Air. There will be three launch party shows in the US, followed by being featured as special guests on Sabaton’s autumn US tour. The band are also delighted to announce a 2020 European run.
