Formed by guitarist Bill Hudson (Trans-Siberian Orchestra, I Am Morbid, ex-U.D.O./Dirkschneider), vocalist Christian Eriksson (ex-Twilight Force), and drummer Patrick Johansson (ex-Yngwie Malmsteen, ex-W.A.S.P.) in late 2017, the lineup was quickly completed by Mikael Planefeldt (bass) as well as keyboardist Jimmy Pitts.

Hudson comments: "The artwork for Welcome To Paradise represents an entrance to whatever 'paradise' represents to each of us. With this album, we intend to introduce the band to the world, as well as to spread our message, that you can be or do whatever you want, it's all inside your own mind. Felipe Machado did a great job capturing our ideas and bringing them into reality. The album, the music and the lyrics all seek to empower the listener and remind them that THEY are masters of their destiny and what happens in their lives."

Montreal, Quebec, Canada's extreme metal juggernaut THE AGONIST will release its new album, "Orphans", on September 20 via Rodeostar Records.

Says vocalist Vicky Psarakis: "When I heard the first instrumentals for 'Orphans' I was a bit shocked and confused. The music was really dark and heavier than anything we've done in previous albums and I wasn't quite sure how I'd be able to match that emotion. But then, you know, all it took was writing one full song to get the ball rolling and 2-3 months later, everything was done.

"With every new album, we love to experiment and dip our toes into new territory, but there's also a lot of elements here that are reminiscent of the earlier days. Australian deathcore masters THY ART IS MURDER will release their fifth album, "Human Target", on July 26 via Nuclear Blast and Human Warfare (Australia and New Zealand). THY ART IS MURDER's North American tour with ARCHITECTS and WHILE SHE SLEEPS will kick off on April 26 in Anaheim, California and end on May 25 in Chicago, Illinois.

THY ART IS MURDER vocalist CJ McMahon left the band in 2015 over financial woes and substance-abuse issues. The frontman has since returned to the fold for 2017's "Dear Desolation" album.

Last year, CJ McMahon told Exclaim! that he hates it when THY ART IS MURDER is lumped in with the "cliché hashtag" of deathcore music.

"We all listen to so many different styles of music," he said. "That's what makes us unique; that we're so in touch with music as a whole.

"We're just writing music that we want to play and hear," he explained. "If people aren't going to give us a chance because they've heard someone call us a deathcore band, I really don't give a fuck. It is mindblowing that people will put shit on you without listening to your band just because of a genre's name. It's just a strange thing, man. I really don't get it."

"Today I will feature Ricky Warwick in Part Two. Ricky and me met for the first time on the Rock Meets Classic tour 2016. We had a great time rocking out the Thin Lizzy tunes with Scott Gorham and the boys. Everybody knows that I’m a big fan of the band, but I really like Ricky’s solo stuff ('Celebrating Sinking' = classic!) and The Almighty albums. Ricky’s attitude is a perfect example how to give 100% on every show and why I like this guy so much, plus we share the same craziness in supporting our football teams! Ricky was singing already on Tequila Suicide, and after an even more enjoyable RMC tour 2019, Ricky promised to sing with me on a song of our new Sinner album. 'What Went Wrong' is the choice and I’m super excited to have Ricky with us again and proud of our friendship."

HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES have unveiled the official video for their cover version of David Bowie's "Heroes". The track, featuring Johnny Depp on lead vocals, was recorded last year at legendary Hansa Studios — the same place where Bowie wrote the original back in 1977.

HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES are built around the undeniable chemistry between rock and roll royalty Joe Perry, Hollywood superstar Depp and shock rock icon Alice Cooper.

"Heroes" is featured on HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES' second album, "Rise", which will be released on June 21 on earMUSIC as a CD digipak, 2LP+download and digital. The disc was produced by Tommy Henriksen and the HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES.

Unlike their 2015 debut record, "Rise" consists mainly of original material, written by the band. There are however, in the spirit of the VAMPIRES' original mission, three covers of songs originally written and recorded by some fellow rockers who died far too young: an intimate and intense version of "Heroes", again beautifully performed on record by Depp; the JIM CARROLL BAND's "People Who Died" and Johnny Thunders's "You Can't Put Your Arms Around A Memory", sung by Perry.

Completing the HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES live lineup are rock star musician friends Glen Sobel (ALICE COOPER) on drums, Chris Wyse (THE CULT) on bass, and Buck Johnson (AEROSMITH) on keyboard and vocals.

UNEARTH has released the official music video for the song "Incinerate", taken from the band's "Extinction(s)" album, which was released last November. The clip, shot while UNEARTH was in Canada with DARKEST HOUR, was produced by KREACT and was directed, filmed and edited by Daniel Vandal, with additional camera by Alexandre Charron, Soufiane Benrqiq and Christophe Thivierge.

For its seventh release and Century Media debut, the band worked with Will Putney (EVERY TIME I DIE, BODY COUNT, GOJIRA, THY ART IS MURDER, SILENT PLANET) at Graphic Nature Studios. Additionally, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE's Adam Dutkiewicz recorded drums for the effort.

Frontman Trevor Phipps told Distorted Sound about "Extinction(s)": "It sounds like us but we've definitely taken things to a different level. There's some songs on there that dig more back into our roots, where the band came from. There's also some new directions in there as well. It was four years between records for us, so we had a lot of material. We had 24 songs ready to go and we cut those down to 14 then to the best 10. I think this is our strongest record to date. Time will tell whether that's the truth, but we all feel really good about this record. It's heavy, it's dynamic and I think the songs will translate to a live setting very well too. That was a big thing for us. We wanted to write a record where we could play the entire thing live. Our last record, 'Watchers Of Rule', that was more, not prog metal but the most progressive of our catalog, and those songs didn't really translate into our live show as some of the earlier stuff. We definitely take pride in our live performance and interaction with the crowd, high energy, so we had that in mind when writing this record."

Regarding how the members of UNEARTH continue to push themselves creatively, Trevor said: "With the four-year break between records, we did our fair share of touring around the world. I think right now, it's a really good time for music, especially metal and hardcore. It really inspired us to become fans of music again. I don't want to say we got complacent, but we definitely relied on where our roots were from and what we grew up listening to. There is so much great music out there now that we all got fully inspired again, and I think that's where the energy for this album came from. We just became big fans again of what is going on right now, and not just yesterday. We've been doing this for a long time and you have to stay hungry if you wanna stick around. We've seen a lot of our peers come and go over the years and we are still standing. We are determined to go further and further."

UNEARTH is currently on a U.S. tour with ALL THAT REMAINS through June 15.

UNEARTH will head to Europe for a fall tour with AS I LAY DYING and CHELSEA GRIN in September.

Swedish symphonic power metallers, Majestica, have released an official video for "Above The Sky", the title track of their debut album, out now via Nuclear Blast. Watch below, and order the album here.

Tommy Johansson is a well-known musician, especially due to his role as guitar player of heavy metallers Sabaton. But before he joined the Swedish "war machine", he was already busy playing in his own band named Reinxeed, currently completed by bassist Chris David and guitarist Alex Oriz. Of course, his touring acitivities with Sabaton slowed down the creative process for Reinxeed a bit.

The group has now returned - seemingly out of nowhere - with a new 10-track album entitled Above The Sky and a brand new name, Majestica, to top it off. On the new record, Tommy presents not only his guitar skills but also his vocal abilities once again, which he also showcased as Twilight Force's stand-in singer throughout autumn 2017.

Tommy states, "It's been many years since we last released an album, so we decided to 'start over' as a new band, Majestica, instead. It's not only a majestic and epic name for a power metal band from Sweden, it's also a tribute to the album Majestic that we released with Reinxeed in 2010. We came up with it and it sounded great, it felt perfect for this kind of music and just feels right."

In regards to their musical direction he adds, "People can expect real power metal in the vein of Helloween, Stratovarius and Gamma Ray, but also great symphonic parts with catchy melodies and choruses with a lot of choral arrangements, guitar solos, beautiful inflections and of course - high pitched vocals like Michael Kiske, Timo Kotipelto and Sebastian Bach."

Not only their band name has changed, the quartet is also a trio at the moment. But fans don't have to worry: Majestica bagged no less than Uli Kusch (ex-Helloween) for the drum recordings of their debut album.

Tommy comments, "It was a huge honour and his drums make this album sound more alive than any album I've ever recorded with any other band before. Since many songs are inspired by Helloween and Gamma Ray it just felt right to have his drumming and input on the songs."

The album was recorded with guitarist Alex Oriz (Soundgarden Studio/Studio Oriz) and Ronny Milianowicz (Studio Seven), who also mixed the record and took care of the production alongside Tommy Johansson (guitars, vocals). Mastering duties were handled by Tony Lindgren (Katatonia, Angra, Enslaved, etc.) at Fascination Street Studios.

Frontiers Music Srl has announced the release of an exciting new project featuring legendary former QUEENSRŸCHE and current OPERATION: MINDCRIME singer Geoff Tate on lead vocals, dubbed SWEET OBLIVION on June 14. The third single from the album, "Hide Away", can be streamed below.

SWEET OBLIVION sees Tate teaming up with a stellar cast of Italian musicians led by Simone Mularoni, the mastermind of prog metal masters DGM. Turilli / Lione Rhapsody - the group featuring original Rhapsody members Luca Turilli and Fabio Lione, completed by former Rhapsody members Dominique Leurquin, Patrice Guers and Alex Holzwarth - will release their debut album Zero Gravity (Rebirth And Evolution), on July 5 via Nuclear Blast (King Records in Japan & Rest of Asia). The song "D.N.A. (Demon And Angel)", featuring Elize Ryd (Amaranthe), is available for streaming below.

Comprised of 10 tracks, the record was produced by Luca and Fabio themselves, whilst Simone Mularoni (Domination Studio, San Marino) took care of its recording, engineering, mixing and mastering. Guest appearances by Elize Ryd (Amaranthe) and Mark Basile (DGM) among others round off Turilli / Lione Rhapsody's first studio album. The contemporary cover artwork was designed by Stefan Heilemann, who has previously worked on both Luca Turilli's Rhapsody records.

Guns N' Roses bassist Duff McKagan is currently touring in support of his brilliant new solo album, Tenderness. 

While speaking to Rolling Stone columnist Kory Grow about his latest endeavour, the inevitable question of a new Guns N' Roses studio album - featuring Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff - rears its head, McKagan replies: "There’s things happening, some of it positive. Everything is moving in a great direction. So I am really looking forward to phase two of this thing. I’d hate to say something in the press to fuck it up, so I just have to say, ‘It’s going great.’ In true Guns N’ Roses fashion, people are in the dark, and that’s kind of cool. It’ll happen when it happens."

Tenderness sees McKagan reflecting on his experiences traveling the globe over two and a half years on Guns N’ Roses’ Not In This Lifetime tour. Encountering heartbreak, anger, fear, confusion and divide on his travels during this tumultuous time in our world history, McKagan channeled a collective hurt into songs of monolithic power.

“We’re becoming divided at a time when we need each other most,” says McKagan. “When huge industries get replaced because of modernization, it’s time to retrain and bolster up those who get swept aside. Homelessness and drug addiction are avoidable in this country if we come together and get private and public cogs turning together in a positive direction. We can at least try to tackle mental illness while we’re at it. But alas, we stump and lie, point fingers and divide. We’re way better than this. As a father, I must say and do something now because I love my girls and my wife, and I love my country, and I feel I must be strong and use my voice now, do it while I’m able or perhaps never get a chance ever again.”

Fan-filmed video footage of STRYPER performing a cover version of the FIREHOUSE classic "All She Wrote" on June 5 at House Of Blues in New Orleans, Lousiana can be seen below.

STRYPER's current lineup includes former FIREHOUSE bassist Perry Richardson. He joined the band in October 2017 as the replacement for STRYPER's longtime bassist Tim Gaines, who was fired from the group earlier that year.

"The first time I met the guys in STRYPER was in 1985, when my first band, MAXX WARRIOR opened for them in Charlotte, North Carolina," said Richardson. "From that first meeting, they have always been one of my favorite bands and a huge influence on me personally and musically. To have the honor of becoming a member of STRYPER is an indescribable experience for me. I am so overwhelmed, I can't put it into words. To be asked to be a member of one of my favorite all-time bands is one of the greatest honors of my career."

Formed 36 years ago, STRYPER is the first overtly Christian metal band to go mainstream. The group's name comes from Isaiah 53:5, which states: "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."

STRYPER's albums include "To Hell With The Devil", "Second Coming", "No More Hell To Pay", "Fallen" and the band's latest effort, "God Damn Evil".

Brocelian, the symphonic metal band from Munich (Germany), has signed with Massacre Records, and is going to release its new album Guardians Of Brocéliande on July 19th, 2019 via Massacre Records.

Formed in 2009, the quartet can already look back on its debut album Lifelines as well as various festival shows and support gigs for bands like Xandria, Tanzwut or Serenity.

They recorded their upcoming album Guardians Of Brocéliande last year with Alexander Krull (Atrocity, Leaves' Eyes), who is also responsible for the album's mix and mastering. The new album features a varied mix of catchy metal hymns, straight hard rock songs as well as melancholic ballads. Well-placed violin tunes as well as epic orchestral and choral parts serve as a common thread tying together Brocelian's sound.

On June 19th, Aerosmith will kick off the second leg of their Las Vegas residency, Deuces Are Wild, by allowing fans access to their museum which showcases incredible items the band has collected in their nearly 50 years together, reports Nikki Bowers of lasvegasnow.com.

The exhibit is a living timeline of Aerosmith's career, including Steven Tyler's high school drumset, original lyrics for "Walk This Way", over 20 guitars, and some of their most notable awards.

Initially, the museum was only accessible to VIP ticket holders, but now the exhibit, located in the lower level of Park Theater at Park MGM where the band is performing, is open for tours starting at 12 p.m. on June 19th. Tickets can be purchased here.

The Deuces Are Wild show is presented with live THX certified L-Acoustics’ L-ISA immersive sound in partnership with THX and L-Acoustics. The show, directed by Amy Tinkham, opens with a roughly 30-minute retrospective of the band's career with previously unreleased audio and visuals from Aerosmith's archive. For this segment, Grammy-winning producer Giles Martin, who created the soundscape for The Beatles' Love by Cirque Du Soleil in Las Vegas, took some of the band’s classic music and material from recording sessions and remixed it for immersive sound at London’s Abbey Road Studios.

Vancouver’s Kosm are ready to plunge listeners into the dark universe of Bloodborne with their new EP, Eyes On The Inside, due out June 28th.

This dark and agile record shows that Kosm has matured in sound since releasing their 2018 Lovecraftian inspired debut album Cosmonaut, and is the first release that features all members of the band contributing to the writing process. The band tells about the motivation for writing this album:

“We really set out to give people what they were asking of us, we all feel it’s going to be received incredibly well. On top of that, this is 100% for all the Bloodborne fans that trolled us into oblivion last year, so we hope that they love it just as much as the fans of progressive metal do! It’s heavier, trickier, and more concise with obvious nods to our biggest influences including Tool, Mastodon and Gojira.”

Quoting that they spent less time on this release than the previous one, Kosm feels like this is their strongest material to date, focusing on the lore of the Bloodborne game and toying with their musicianship to create a five-track record that is heavier and more sonically detailed than earlier material.

British doom metal band, My Dying Bride, are "deep in recording mode and have apologized for the lack of info here. The message is they have simply been busy. Drums, all guitars and bass are complete. Vocals have been continually worked upon and some very different approaches tried and dropped and some kept, the violins and keyboards are also nearing completion."

The as yet untitled new album from My Dying Bride will be their 13th studio effort. It shall serve as the follow-up to Feel The Misery, which was released in 2015. A release date has yet to be announced.

Back in December 2018, My Dying Bride announced they had parted ways with Shaun Steels due to unresolvable drumming issues. Jeff Singer (Kill2This, Paradise Lost, Blaze) was named as the new drummer. A quote from the band simply states: "Jeff has been a light in a dark room, he breathlessly and seamlessly plays with the new music and intuitively seems to know what we're asking for, he has removed a lot of unnecessary pressure from the band in an already testing time. At last something good happens."

And just last month, A Harvest Of Dread, a deluxe 12" 92-page hardback book / 5CD set celebrating the rise of My Dying Bride, was released via Peaceville. Order your copy here.

The book features interviews with the band members plus others associated with the scene from the early 1990’s to present day; with a large number of brand new interviews conducted in 2018 with former members of the band, this release gives a more comprehensive look into the history of these doom metal masters.

Emerging from the shadows of eastern Poland back in 2015, black metal band Batushka have established themselves as one of the modern era's most powerful and evocative bands. Harnessing the fire and fury of arcane black metal and channeling it through the reverberant grandeur of ancient rituals of worship, the band's debut album Litourgiya stood apart from the extreme metal hordes: a monument to originality, depth and dark mysticism that swiftly cast its spell over the metal underground and beyond.

Named after an Old Church Slavonic word for "God," Hospodi enhances all the unique qualities that made the band such an instant phenomenon, while offering an entirely distinct and fresh sensory experience. "The whole album is a concept based on the Liturgy Of Death, the prayers for the dead, and Orthodox funeral rites and dirges," said the band. "It's all about a ritual that involves the dead and the mourners. We also used a lot of old folk songs and elegies from our homeland. These are sung during the wake, around the casket, in the deceased person's home. Nowadays only a few older people know them and still sing them accordingly in our region. We decided to cherish that tradition and I'm glad that with our album these songs and rites will survive."

Composed and recorded in Sweden where Swan, the frontman, is permanently settled, this new album, Dying Breed, is like a response to the way the music world goes. Frontiers Music Srl will release the new album from Chaos Magic, entitled Furyborn, on June 14. A video for the song "I'm Your Cancer" can be seen below.

Caterina Nix says of the song and video, "I wrote the lyrics for 'I'm Your Cancer' thinking about an abusive relationship. It's something that happens often. I've seen so many couples who operate with aggression back and forth and in the news, we see crimes of passion that have their root in these kind of love/hate toxic relationships all the time. So I thought it was an interesting and relevant topic to write about, to put out there for discussion, using music as a tool.

"As for the musical inspiration, I wanted to have a heavy, catchy rhythm like the ones you would find in Korn’s music, and strong, heavy guitars with alternative metal elements. I also added an operatic choir for the intro which gives it a bit of a symphonic metal feel. I also created a very listenable and singable chorus, which makes it a perfect song to play live."

Chaos Magic is centered around Chilean vocalist Caterina Nix who, for this sophomore release from the band, worked in close collaboration with fellow Chilean producer, singer, and musician Nasson. Together, they have created an absolute gem of a metal album.

Nix pulled in some talented singers for a few duets on the album: Tom Englund (Evergrey) on the title track, Ailyn (ex-Sirenia) on “Bravely Beautiful”, and Ronnie Romero (Rainbow and CoreLeoni singer, ex-Lords of Black) on "Path Of The Brave". Producer Nasson also duets with Caterina on “Falling Again”, while Mistheria (Bruce Dickinson, Rob Rock) appears on keyboards on “Beware of Silent Waters”.

"These are incredible voices and all the guest singers gave the album the textures I desired to each of the songs they participated in,” says Caterina.

Also of note, the album was mixed to perfection by none other than Danish studio master Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Pretty Maids, The Dark Element).

Caterina Nix is a superb young vocalist from Chile, who was found by chance by former Stratovarius composer and guitarist Timo Tolkki during one of his tours of South America. Timo was supremely impressed and confident in Caterina’s singing abilities and he wrote and produced the first Chaos Magic album, in addition to having her perform on the second Avalon rock opera album Angels Of The Apocalypse.

While these two things brought Caterina to the forefront more on the International stage, she had already started her career in the band Aghonya, who released their first and only album Oxygen in 2008, in which she wrote all the lyrics and vocal lines. Released independently, the band and Caterina received rave reviews, which gave them the opportunity to open shows in Chile for bands like After Forever, Edguy, and Within Temptation.

ALICE IN CHAINS has released the eighth episode of "Black Antenna", a dark sci-fi thriller set against the backdrop of the band's Grammy-nominated album "Rainier Fog" (BMG). Further episodes will be released throughout the coming months.


"Black Antenna" tells the story of Alpha (played by "Green Book" actor Paul Sloan) and his 21-year-old daughter, Beta (Viktoriya Dov), who drive their beat-up truck across California in silence, speaking only telepathically. Together they rob and steal from the men the girl seduces, taking phones, laptops and whatever they can find.


Alpha is trying to build something — an antenna — desperately trying to find a way to get a message to their people back home. Meanwhile there are unspeakably dark forces who have discovered their existence and are now hell-bent on tracking them down and eradicating them before more of their kind can come and join them.


"Black Antenna" was directed by Adam Mason, written by Paul Sloan and Adam Mason and produced by Elizabeth Mason and Nick Vallelonga, who recently won two Oscars ("Best Original Screenplay" and "Best Picture") for "Green Book".


"This movie came out of nowhere for me," says Mason. "As soon as I heard the album, the music and lyrics spoke to me on a profoundly personal level and the film and subject matter was born directly out of that. I've always been a huge fan of ALICE IN CHAINS, and this has been a dream come true for me. 'Black Antenna' is a perfect synergy of the band's lyrics, and 'Black Antenna' paints a dark and beautiful canvas of the deeply conflicted world we live in today."


ALICE IN CHAINS is continuing to tour in support of its latest album, "Rainier Fog", which became the group's first Top 10 U.K. album, hit No.1 across Billboard's Rock, Alternative and Hard Music charts and the iTunes Rock Album chart, and earned the band a ninth Grammy nod for "Best Rock Album."

ALICE IN CHAINS' co-headlining tour with KORN will kick off on July 18 in Del Valle, Texas, wrapping up on September 4 in Mountain View, California.

Danish guitarist extraordinaire, Soren Andersen, recently signed an international record deal with Mighty Music.

Soren is the guitarist of Glenn Hughes, Jesper Binzer (D-A-D) and has worked closely together with Mike Tramp for many years. Besides being a musician, Soren is also a highly acclaimed producer at his Medley Studio.

Soren is premiering the first single and video, “City Of Angels”, from his upcoming solo album through BraveWords!

"City Of Angels" was filmed in... well, Los Angeles of course. On October 4th Soren Andersen's new solo album Guilty Pleasures will see the light of day worldwide through Mighty Music on LP, CD and digital.

The album features guest appearances from, among others, Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Glenn Hughes, Marco Mendoza and fellow Dane Ida Nielsen (Prince). The sunsoaked City Of Angels" is a fitting first single, about his beloved Los Angeles with a music video shot around Venice Beach and Hollywood.

Unholy Swedish deathrace kings The Crown headlined the Bavarian Battle Open Air on May 31st. The video footage below, courtesy of vocalist Johan Lindstrand, showcases the band ripping through three songs: "Destroyed By Madness", "Deathexplosion" and "Iron Crown".

The Crown will return to the stage on August 1st at the prestigious Wacken Open Air Festival in Germany.

Perth, Australia heavyweights, Make Them Suffer, have released the brand new song "Hollowed Heart". Listen below.

"'Hollowed Heart' is probably our angriest song to date, and was inspired by the heartbreaking circumstances of many close to me," said singer Sean Harmanis.

The track is the first new music from the band since it released the song "27" last summer. You can also listen to "27" below. The band's last album, Worlds Apart, arrived in 2017 via Rise Records.
