We Owe You Nothing, the ninth studio album from Italian black/doom metal overlords Forgotten Tomb, is set to be released on October 27th in Europe and November 10th in North America via Agonia Records. The new track, "Second Chances”, is available now in the form of 360° VR video:

We Owe You Nothing marks the highest point in the band's constant evolution and once more makes it hard to narrow down its sound to some pre-existing labels. Effortlessly blending the eerie, dissonant black metal sound the band is well-known for with muscular sludge/doom riffs and a subtle, nihilistic punk attitude, We Owe You Nothing defines the band's personality more than ever, reaffirming its unique sound.

Forgotten Tomb commented: "Our discography has always been divided by trilogies. We Owe You Nothing closes the third trilogy which started with ...And Don't Deliver Us From Evil followed by Hurt Yourself And The Ones You Love and it's the heaviest among the three albums, with an emphasis on slower/mid tempos and a sludgier approach while retaining also our trademark melodies and dissonant arpeggios, plus some twists which open new doors to the next era of the band. Due to circumstances surrounding it, it's been an extremely painful album to make and therefore it's one of our darkest, while being also filled with raw energy.”

The new album includes six songs for approx. 40 minutes of music. Recording-sessions started in December 2016, with drums being tracked at Big Pine Creekstudio in Italy, but were abruptly interrupted when singer/guitarist Ferdinando "HM"M. was involved in a life-threatening car accident that left him unable to play for months. The recording was resumed and completed in May 2017 at SPVN Studio in Italy, while mix and mastering were done in June 2017 at Planet-Z studio (Hadley, Massachussets, USA) by Chris "Zeuss" Harris (Rob Zombie, Six Feet Under, Crowbar, Hatebreed).

WHITESNAKE's self-titled album, also known in some countries as "1987", which was certified multi-platinum and featured the smash single "Here I Go Again", turns thirty this year and Rhino is celebrating with four new versions, including an expansive boxed set.

"Whitesnake: Super Deluxe Edition" will be available on October 27 (pushed back from the previously announced October 6) for $49.98. The 4-CD/DVD collection includes the original album with newly remastered sound, unreleased live and studio recordings, classic music videos, concert footage, a thirty-minute documentary, featuring a new interview with David Coverdale, WHITESNAKE's founder and lead singer. The music comes with a sixty-page hardbound book that's filled with rare and unseen photos from the era, an extended essay based on new interviews with Coverdale, plus a booklet of the album's lyrics, handwritten by Coverdale. The audio will also be available via digital download and streaming services.

Three other versions of "Whitesnake" will also be available the same day. A Deluxe Edition will be available in both 2-CD ($19.98) and 2-LP ($29.98) versions, each including the newly remastered album expanded with a selection of unreleased bonus recordings. A single-disc version of the newly remastered album will also be available.

This also marks the first release under a newly signed catalog deal with WHITESNAKE and Rhino Entertainment, the catalog division of Warner Music Group. This new deal includes both the North American and Japanese rights, marking the first time a substantial amount of the WHITESNAKE catalog will reside under Warner Music Group worldwide.

Soon after its release in April 1987, "Whitesnake" became a huge success around the world, selling multi million copies. "Whitesnake: Super Deluxe Edition" comes with an entire disc of unreleased live performances featuring Adrian Vandenberg, Vivian Campbell and Tommy Aldridge, recorded during the band's 1987-88 tour. The music includes live versions of several tracks from "1987", plus WHITESNAKE classics "Slide It In", "Love Ain't No Stranger" and "Slow An' Easy".

An additional disc spotlights the creative process behind "Whitesnake" with a selection of elevent unreleased demo and rehearsal recordings, including early versions of nearly every song on the album called "87 Evolutions". The final disc introduces newly remixed versions the album's four singles, and includes rare radio mixes, as well as songs from "87 Versions", an EP released exclusively in Japan.

The DVD from "Whitesnake: Super Deluxe Edition" includes music videos for the four singles, all of which have been carefully restored and remixed in 5.1 Surround Sound for the first time ever. In addition, the DVD also features a new thirty-minute documentary about the making of "Whitesnake", a new promo video made especially for this set of the 1988 version of "Here I Go Again" and unreleased live footage from the 1987-88 tour.

According to Billboard, a WHITESNAKE home video will follow on Record Store Black Friday (November 24) as well as a coffee table book chronicling "The Purple Album" cycle from 2015. An all-new WHITESNAKE studio album is planned for 2018, along with a world tour.

"It was a lot of fun to do," Coverdale told Billboard of the "Whitesnake" reissue, "because I don't go back a lot. I kind of learn from the past to apply those lessons to the future and the present. But my gratitude for (the album) is beyond words. I've only ever gone into a studio to try to improve on the last record...There was no, 'Right, I'm gonna sell thirty-odd million fucking records!' It was amazing, just amazing, so it's great to revisit all of this."

Coverdale also revealed that he has been getting together with WHITESNAKE guitarists Reb Beach and Joel Hoekstra for regular writing sessions for a new album that will lively arrive late spring of 2018. "I'm actually very excited about it because it's the first opportunity both Reb and Joel and I have actually had to sit down and write together," Coverdale said of what will be WHITESNAKE's first set of original material since 2011's "Forevermore". "There's a lot of what one would refer to as arena rock; Reb and I were talking the other night over dinner and he said, 'Man, there's so many songs here that no matter where we play — Portugal or Brazil or Tokyo — they're gonna get this hook. They're gonna be punching the fuckin' air and have a great night.' And I went, 'Oh, absolutely — and more than usual,' which is great. I can't do throwaway shit. The only reason I'm doing this record are the songs are gonna be a great WHITESNAKE album for WHITESNAKE fans — and the band. It's very exciting."

Rare video footage has surfaced of Deep Purple performing “Strange Kind Of Woman” in Tokyo, Japan on August 17th, 1972. The footage was captured on 8mm film.

To celebrate BBC Radio 2’s 50th birthday, the network has announced the lineup for this year’s In Concert series which celebrates pop music from the last five decades, reports Radio Today. Five special concerts will see performances from Tears For Fears (October 26th), CHIC feat. Nile Rogers (October 30th), Liam Gallagher (November 2nd), Paloma Faith (November 9th) and Deep Purple (November 16), with each concert marking a different decade of music in the fifty years of Radio 2.

Taking place at 8 PM in the BBC Radio Theatre, London, the series of intimate performances will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 2 as well as in vision via the BBC Red Button, to be produced by BBC Studios. All performances will be available on BBC iPlayer for thirty days after.

Ian Paice of Deep Purple says “Hello, Ian Paice here, Deep Purple are really looking forward to performing for the BBC Radio 2’s In Concert programme. It’s been many years since we did something like this.But through all those years one thing has never changed. Playing live is the only way to capture the spirit of rock’n’roll music, because even 60 years after it reared its wonderful rebellious head that’s what it still is! There is no safety net of the recording machine to “fix things later”, you get it right or get it wrong. For the musicians it’s, an adrenaline rush, concentration and invention but most of all fun. That’s why we started doing it when we were kids. We hope you have fun being on the receiving end.”

A limited number of pairs of tickets for this event are available. Tickets will be distributed via random draw with 70% of tickets going to Greater London postcodes and 30% going to the rest of the UK. You can register at any time until 9.30 PM on Thursday, October 12th.

Deep Purple have released their first-ever animated video. The official video for "The Surprising," one of the fan favorite tracks from the internationally successful album inFinite, takes the viewer on a journey through the magical 50-year history of the band. With high attention to detail, the animated masterpiece follows the five heroes of our story – Ian Gillan, Ian Paice, Roger Glover, Don Airey, and Steve Morse – through a stormy ship cruise full of allusions and sees them riding off into the sunset.

The video was directed and illustrated by Matt Rooke, alongside director Peter Rogers, who also produced the video together with Craig Hooper and Collin Games, known from the Deep Purple movie documentary From Here to inFinite.

Deep Purple and earMUSIC also announce the release of the 97-minute documentary From Here to inFinite, which is due out in November. It shows the history and origin of inFinite and provides a deep insight into the workings of the band for the first time on Blu-ray.

The Blu-ray further includes two hours of bonus material, including music videos such as "The Surprising," three previously unreleased live videos ("Time For Bedlam," "Birds Of Prey," and "Smoke On The Water"), all filmed and recorded at Hellfest 2017, as well as in-depth behind the scenes footage, movie documentary outtakes, interviews, and an audio commentary by Deep Purple themselves — all previously unreleased.
 
In conjunction with the release of the Blu-ray, Deep Purple and earMUSIC are also releasing The infinite Live Recorings, Pt. 1 on a special 3-disc vinyl LP, produced by Bob Ezrin. According to The Times, former JUDAS PRIEST guitarist K.K. Downing's estate at Astbury Hall, his home near Bridgnorth, in south Shropshire, England, collapsed into administration and immediately was put up for sale with an asking price of more than £10 million (approximately $13.21 million).

The news comes a year and a half after Downing bought out his Birmingham, U.K.-based partners, stating at the time that he was planning to build a leisure resort around his countryside golf course. The guitarist's vision for the the three-hundred-and-twenty-acre estate included forty holiday homes, a hotel, spa and another nine-hole course.

Administrators from FRP Advisory blamed "tougher economic times within the wider corporate hospitality market," which had put "unsustainable pressure on the cashflow of the estate under its current financial structure."

In a 2009 interview with Shopshire Magazine, Downing admitted that it could be odd coming back to sleepy Shropshire after touring the world with JUDAS PRIEST.

"It is weird," he said. "I've been going and coming from this place all my life and every time it's like it's reinventing itself. I have to reintroduce myself to everything. I go to the cupboard and say, I'm sure I bought some sugar — where is it?'"

Regarding his decision to buy a house not too far from his Midlands roots, he said, "It became common sense to buy a property of your own and a few of us acquired homes in the south of Spain. I came here in 1985 — a long time. It was the house really that I liked. Before I came here I had a tiny semi in Bloxwich as my first house, but the deal was that there was bus stop outside it, and when we started doing 'Top Of The Pops' in the late '70s, people used to get off the bus and walk up the garden path for an autograph."

K.K., who is a founding member of the British heavy metal legends and was part of the group since 1969, announced his retirement from PRIEST in April 2011.

He later shot down as "inaccurate" reports that he left JUDAS PRIEST because he chose to concentrate on running the golf courses on his property.

The official lyric video for the song "Breathe Again" from the female-fronted melodic metal band ANGEL NATION can be seen below. The track is taken from the group's new album, "Aeon", which will be released on October 27 in Europe and North America via Inner Wound Recordings.

ANGEL NATION is a melodic metal band founded by the classically trained Finnish singer Elina Siirala who moved to London in 2008 and fell in love with the power of rock and metal.

Their debut album — released in 2014 under the name ENKELINATION — "Tears of Lust", was received with glowing reviews all over the world. Shows at Bloodstock Open Air and Finland followed before Elina joined LEAVES' EYES in 2016 as that band's new vocalist.

"Aeon" continues the musical diversity that Elina likes to express in her songwriting. The unique blend of retro and modern sounds is developed even further with this album. The power of metal and rock combined with Elina's ethereal-yet-strong-and-emotional vocals create the perfect platform for stories of both earthly and otherworldly she likes to create with her lyrics.

According to The Pulse Of Radio, Chris Cornell's widow Vicky traveled to Detroit for the first time since his death last May in an effort to continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the SOUNDGARDEN singer's passing. Accompanied by a lawyer, Vicky had scheduled a meeting with the Wayne County Medical Examiner's office, but reportedly arrived so late that the examiner wasn't able to keep the appointment. CBS Detroit reported that Vicky was able to pick up slides of microscopic tissue that were taken as evidence in the case.

The CBS Detroit report added that Vicky Cornell has been questioning the Medical Examiner about Ativan, regarding the possible effects of the drug on the singer’s state of mind — but that is not an area in which the medical examiner would be able to provide insight.

Chris was found hanged in his room at the MGM Grand Detroit hotel on May 18, following a SOUNDGARDEN show at the city's Fox Theatre. His body was found soon after he had spoken with a "slurred" voice to Vicky by phone. The death was ruled a suicide.

But his family has questioned the medical examiner's ruling, saying that he had a prescription for Ativan and that a higher than recommended dosage may have caused him to experience suicidal thoughts.

Vicky reportedly believes that her husband was not depressed and was not a suicide, but was instead brought on by the effect of the Ativan.

The toxicology report later said that Chris had the equivalent of four Ativan pills, as well as several other prescription drugs, in his system at the time of his death.

KORN bassist Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu will release his long-awaited jazz fusion album titled "Bassically" on November 17. The seventeen-track disc was produced by Fieldy's writing partner Anthony "Q" Quiles" and mixed by Chris Collier. The record features guest appearances by three of Fieldy's bandmates: drummer Ray Luzier plays drums, bongos, shaker, tambourine and djembe on the songs "Bass O Rama", "Step Right Up", "Basque K Cinco", "Zibba Zibop" and "Mr. Bassmen"; guitarist Brian "Head" Welch plays on "I Wuv Bass Mon"; and singer Jonathan Davis does some beatboxing on "JD Fresh".

"This is a bass album that encompasses the last nine years of my life on the road recording with a variety of special and unique basses," Fieldy said. "This project features recordings of mine from dressing rooms, tour buses, hotel rooms and other unique locations playing on basses just as obscure as the locations. It's a blend of funk, fusion, and rock. I can't wait to share it with you."

Asked what his inspirations were when writing "Bassically", Fieldy told Weld For Birmingham in a 2016 interview: "To write it, my inspiration was probably my wife Dena. She was, like, 'You should put a bass album out.' And then I really thought about it. And if you go back in time to my inspiration in my early days, I listened to a lot of Stanley Clarke. And then from there on, I got into a lot of Flea. And I started really listening to some of these great bands — if you're not listening for it, you don't really know how great a lot of those bass players are unless you listen. For example, a lot of classic rock bands I listened to as a kid — now, I was like, 'Wait, I just found the EAGLES on the bass, rippin'! Or LED ZEPPELIN! LED ZEPPELIN gets to rippin' on bass! You hear these great tones that as a kid, I'd never really listened to. And now, I'm like starting to listen and trip out on it."

Luzier told ABC News Radio back in 2013 that he found some inventive ways to create drum tracks for "Basically". "I did some made-up percussion stuff, like we'd literally have a cup full of, like, change and seashells and I'd shake it," he said. "And then… backstage [at a KORN show], we recorded a drum track, I pulled a floor tom off my kit and a snare and a hi-hat and it's come out way better than we thought."

METALLICA is preparing deluxe remastered versions of its "…And Justice For All" (1988) and "Metallica" albums and is reaching out to its hardcore fans for help to get content for the new editions.

Says the band in a social media post: "With the deluxe box sets of 'Kill 'Em All' and 'Ride The Lightning' behind us, and 'Master Of Puppets' less than a month away, it's time to start trudging forward with '…And Justice For All' and 'Metallica'.

"As you may remember, we asked you for help in putting together the first three box sets and, to make sure there's a fan footprint on all of these releases, we'll be doing that again! While "...And Justice For All" is considered one of METALLICA's classics, it has been criticized almost since the day it was released in 1988 for the lack of any bass guitar on the record. Jason Newsted's playing is virtually buried in the mix — and many fans feel that drummer Lars Ulrich, who had very specific ideas for how he wanted his drums to sound, is to blame.

"...And Justice For All" was Jason Newsted's first full-length album with METALLICA after he replaced late bassist Cliff Burton in 1986.

The album was the first by the band to sell more than a million copies and featured their first radio hit, "One", which was also the basis of the group's first music video.

The record was nominated for the first-ever Grammy for "Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance", but infamously lost to JETHRO TULL's "Crest Of A Knave".

METALLICA's self-titled LP in 2014 became the first album to sell 16 million copies since Nielsen SoundScan started tracking sales in 1991.

"Metallica" was already certified 16 times platinum on December 13, 2012 by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association Of America) for shipments in excess of 16 million copies in the U.S.

The album in 2009 surpassed SHANIA TWAIN's 1997 record, "Come On Over", as the best-selling CD of the SoundScan era.

The album was the first of four collaborations with producer Bob Rock, with whom the band clashed throughout the recording of the disc.

METALLICA performed "the black album" in its entirety at a number of European festivals in 2012.

PHILIP H. ANSELMO & THE ILLEGALS, the project led by the former PANTERA and current DOWN/SUPERJOINT frontman, has set "Choosing Mental Illness As A Virtue" as the title of its second album, due in December via Anselmo's Housecore Records.

"Choosing Mental Illness As A Virtue" is the follow-up to PHILIP H. ANSELMO & THE ILLEGALS' debut, "Walk Through Exits Only", which came out in 2013 to mostly positive reviews.

In a 2014 interview Yahoo! Music, Anselmo said that the second ILLEGALS album would be "very different" from the debut. "I feel like every solo effort should be different," he explained. "That's a rule in my house under this particular roof. I don't want to regurgitate a damn thing I've done in the past.

"Maybe I might touch on certain things, and in a lot of ways, there's no getting around the voice because my voice is my voice," he continued. "But you can express different musical influences from generations of music. I can do anything I want with THE ILLEGALS. It's my band."

"Walk Through Exits Only" sold around 8,700 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 35 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD was produced by Anselmo and Michael Thompson, and recorded over a couple of years at Philip's New Orleans studio, Nodferatu's Lair.

Back in October 2015, PHILIP H. ANSELMO & THE ILLEGALS parted ways with guitarist Marzi Montazeri and replaced him with Mike DeLeon. Anselmo told Metal Underground about the split with Montazeri: "What I wanted to do with Marzi was jumpstart his career, which I did. He's the type of guy that needs to be the focal point of pretty much anything he does. So he's got that now and I'm happy for him. More power to him."

Regarding how the addition of DeLeon came about, Anselmo said:"Mostly from his association with my drummer, Blue [José Manuel Gonzalez], and my other guitar player/bass player from SUPERJOINT, Steve [Stephen Taylor]. Steve Taylor was constantly saying, 'DeLeon is the guy. DeLeon is the guy. He wants it the most! He wants it the most!' I trust them. I trust their judgment. I trust their intuition. So far, every time DeLeon has come to jam, it has been serious grinding. He takes a good beating, man. He's great. He's a pleasure to work with."

FreqsTV has produced a documentary on DREAM THEATER's "Images, Words & Beyond" tour, which sees the pioneering group celebrating the twenty-fifth anniversary of its milestone RIAA-gold-certified album "Images And Words".

In the thirteen-minute film, guitarist John Petrucci reflects on how the album came to fruition, the impact it had on their lives and how it still resonates with them and their fans.

The documentary was shot on location in Munich, Germany during the European leg of the "Images, Words & Beyond" tour.

Asked if he and his bandmates had a feeling during the recording process that "Images And Words" would turn out to be such an important album for them, Petrucci told Gitarre & Bass: "Well, we had no idea that it would end up doing what it did for us — basically launch our touring and international career as a band. That's really what it did. We had no idea, no. In fact, we didn't even write songs, really, that had that potential in that atmosphere, because all the things that were being played on the radio sounded nothing like DREAM THEATER, so we didn't really think we had a chance. They were playing NIRVANA and PEARL JAM. There was still some kind of '80-ish bands around and stuff. Even the band that David Prater, the producer, had done right before us was this band FIREHOUSE, and they were like a big pop-metal ballad band. So we didn't think we had any place. But we did feel really good about how the album came out. We felt very proud of it. We knew that it sounded good. I remember feeling really proud anytime I would play it for somebody. Like, 'Oh, you have to hear this. Check it out.' And the reaction was always, 'Wow! That sounds really good.' So we knew there was something there, but we had no idea what it would do for us."

Buoyed by the success of the album's first single, "Pull Me Under", "Images And Words" eventually went gold in the U.S. and established the band as a standard-bearer for complex-yet-melodic progressive metal. The song and accompanying video received airtime on radio and MTV and expanded DREAM THEATER's audience.

"'Pull Me Under' was a surprise to everyone, 'cause 'Pull Me Under' is… it's over eight minutes long, never meant to be a single," Petrucci told Gitarre & Bass. "Again, the songs being played on the radio were nothing like DREAM THEATER, but, for some reason, it must have stuck out to where people were calling the radio stations: 'What is that band? Oh my God! I wanna hear that song again.' And that kind of snowballed and grew, and 'Pull Me Under' became a rock radio hit. And I remember at the time I was living in New Jersey, on the East Coast of the U.S., and I'd turn on the radio and I'd hear it all the time. It was a cool feeling."

Petrucci added that "Pull Me Under" is "probably" the most important song of DREAM THEATER's career. "If you think about what it did for us as far as the future is concerned, it really put up on the map," he said. "It enabled us to go from local guys driving around in a van, playing to a few people in clubs to an international touring band with this whole long and very busy and productive career. And who knows? Without that kind of initial spark, we may never have been able to be as successful as we have. I mean, who knows? Maybe we would have. I don't know. But it certainly, certainly helped. Big time."

Former W.A.S.P. and current METAL CHURCH drummer Stet Howland has begun chemotherapy treatments after he was recently diagnosed with Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), an aggressive type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma that develops from the B-cells in the lymphatic system.

According to a post on the METAL CHURCH Facebook page, "The first chemotherapy treatment wiped [Stet] out, although he is feeling better then before the diagnosis and treatment, he is still pretty weak. At this time, he is expected to have chemotherapy four or five more times over the course of the next twelve weeks or so. Each treatment will consist of Stet checking into the hospital as an inpatient and running continuously on chemo (sixteen-hour drips, one right after the other) for just under five full days. On his days 'off,' he will continue to go in for blood testing, and will receive blood transfusions every couple of days.

"The doctors, nurses and staff have been and are amazing! They are closely monitoring Stet and he has complete confidence in their course of treatment.

"Stet and his family have tons of amazing friends, family and fans to thank for all the help and support and all the well wishes and prayers!

Please keep all the good vibes coming, as Stet has a very long road ahead of him, but he is a fighter and intends to kick cancer right in the ass!"

Stet was named METAL CHURCH's permanent new drummer in July. He stated at the time that he was "honored to be a member of such a group of people" and vowed to do his "best to deliver strong performances both live and in the studio." He added in a recent social media post: "I consider myself a very lucky man who has done many great things in my life. I have been blessed to play in several iconic bands in my career. But my current METAL CHURCH gig is the unrivaled pinnacle of it all."

On July 14 — less than a week before singer Chester Bennington's death — LINKIN PARK shared a picture on Twitter with actor Ken Jeong for their episode of the TV spinoff of James Corden's "Late Late Show" sketch. The photo was captioned, "Fun day with [Ken Jeong] [Carpool Karaoke] [Apple Music] — stay tuned."

After Bennington's death six days later, Jeong paid tribute to the singer on Twitter, writing, "I am in shock and heartbroken. All my thoughts and prayers go out to Chester and his family and friends at this time."

Corden said in August the Apple Music show would "approach it in whichever manner his family, or the people [who] were involved in that episode, would like it to be handled.

"We will navigate it as delicately as possible and just adhere to whatever wishes they would want because I don't think there's any other way we could deal with it," he added. "It's a tragedy."

Talinda Bennington, Chester's wife, responded on Twitter, saying: "Thank you @JKCorden."

"Carpool Karaoke: The Series" — a sixteen-episode standalone show executive-produced by Corden — premiered on August 8 on Apple Music.

Other celebrities that have appeared on the program include John Legend and Alicia Keys, Billy Eichner and METALLICA, and Queen Latifah and Jada Pinkett Smith.

Bennington died by suicide on July 20. He was 41.

His private funeral service took place on July 29 near his home in Palos Verdes, California. It was attended by five hundred guests, including members of all three bands Bennington sang in: LINKIN PARK, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS and DEAD BY SUNRISE.

"Election Day", a brand new song from Swedish hard rockers EUROPE, can be streamed below. The track is taken from the band's new album, "Walk The Earth", which will be released on October 20 via the band's own Hell & Back label through Silver Lining Music. The follow-up to 2015's "War Of Kings" was laid down at London, England's legendary Abbey Road studios and was produced by Dave Cobb, who also helmed the band's last disc.

"War Of Kings" was the record that made the rock world realize what a formidable act EUROPE had become, then "Walk The Earth" is the album that is set to establish the band as one of the most exciting contemporary rock acts of current times. "We're simply a different band today," says lead singer Joey Tempest.

"Ever since we started up again in 2004, we have constantly explored our limits and new parts of our musical universe. After around a thousand shows, we feel comfortable just improvising, jamming and pushing our lyrics and songwriting with much more ease.

"We have now been together recording and making albums longer than the early period of the band. Five albums in the '80s and '90s. Now six records with 'Walk The Earth'.

"When we started up again in 2004, we all agreed to think 'long term,' to take the long road and build up a new relationship with listeners and media. We all agreed on writing together, owning our music, and license it out to labels that really care and support us in the long run. We also agreed to not look back! And never stop looking for that deeper expression.

"We don't have much in common with our contemporaries from back then. We have taken a different path, making sure we are constantly moving forward. We have little regard for outside influences and opinions. In order to enjoy this new journey and feel creative, it needed to be completely on our terms. "In a EUROPE live show, there is, of course, some room for nostalgia, but in the studio there is none. Every album is a reaction to the one before, a new journey a new adventure.

"The music of a rock band needs to constantly move, challenge, upheave, evolve or the band will automatically become a nostalgia act.

"We are proud of our past and previous albums, but we simply can't identify, recapture, emulate any of it. We simply can't write like that, even if we wanted to. We are a new act with a different expression. "Over the years, we have learned how important recording techniques and recording equipment is by trying to search and research which producers, engineers and recording studios that can actually inspire and keep us wanting to be adventurous and daring. The official video for the "Walk The Earth" title track can be seen below. The clip was directed by Patric Ullaeus of Revolver Film Company, who has previously worked with DIMMU BORGIR, LACUNA COIL, IN FLAMES and KAMELOT, among others.

EUROPE last year completed a short European tour during which the band played "The Final Countdown" album in its entirety to celebrate the LP's thirtieth anniversary.

A recording of the band's "The Final Countdown" performance at London's legendary Roundhouse was released on July 21.

Coming off the success of the band's recent tour with RISE AGAINST, PIERCE THE VEIL has debuted the video for its new single, "Today I Saw The Whole World". Directed by Dan Fusselman (NECK DEEP, SILVERSUN PICKUPS, AUGUST BURNS RED), the clip complements the track's high-energy dynamic with a fiery compilation of live performances by the San Diego rock group.

"I grew up watching massive amounts of MTV music videos throughout the '90s," recalls lead PIERCE THE VEIL singer/songwriter Vic Fuentes. "I would record all of my favorites on VHS tape, watching them over and over until the tape wore out.

"Our new video was inspired by some of these artists that I loved back then like the BEASTIE BOYS, CYPRESS HILL and MARILYN MANSON. We wanted to use this '90s look to visually express the lyrics and fury inside of the song."

"Today I Saw The Whole World" is taken from PIERCE THE VEIL's latest album, "Misadventures", which debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. Lyrically, the disc is a flood of emotions, recently revealed truths and reflections of new realities — the suicide of a past love, the Paris terror attacks, the online intimidation of a girlfriend by crazed fans, self-worth and an individual's ability to shine, and the challenge of a cunning betrayal.

German thrash metal veterans DESTRUCTION will release their new "best-of-old-school" album, "Thrash Anthems II", on November 10 via Nuclear Blast.

A decade ago, DESTRUCTION proved how successful re-recording some of their timeless classics and re-imagining history could be. The follow-up to 2007's "Thrash Anthems" is ready to rock the metal world and shows how fans can be part of both a band's history and future. Pop superstar Pink joined GUNS N' ROSES on stage Wednesday (October 11) at Madison Square Garden in New York City to sing the third verse of GN'R's classic 1989 ballad "Patience".

GUNS N' ROSES thanked Pink in a tweet after the show. She took it all in her stride. "Oh. Yeah. Whatever. No problem," was her playful response.

The 2017 North American leg of GUNS N' ROSES' "Not In This Lifetime" tour kicked off July 27 in St. Louis, Missouri.

The trek features classic GUNS members Slash on guitar, Duff McKagan on bass and Axl Rose on vocals, backed by drummer Frank Ferrer, guitarist Richard Fortus, keyboardist Dizzy Reed and second keyboardist Melissa Reese.

About seventy people travel with the show in addition to the truck drivers; that number goes upwards of fie hundred, including the local workers, by show date once catering, security, etc. are factored in, according to the tour's production manager, Dale "Opie" Skjerseth.

"Not In This Lifetime" continues Thursday (October 12) at New Jersey's Prudential Center.

GUNS kicked off its long-rumored and long-awaited reunion trek in a year and a half ago with a club show in Hollywood and appearances in Las Vegas and at California's Coachella festival.

Pink's seventh studio album, "Beautiful Trauma", will be released on Friday (October 13).

David Gilmour has released an expert of his European Documentary 2016, included on the new Live At Pompeii release (out now). Watch below:

45 years after Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour filmed Live At Pompeii in the legendary Roman Amphitheatre there, he returned for two spectacular shows that took place on July 7th and 8th, 2016, part of his year-long tour in support of his #1 album, Rattle That Lock. The performances were the first-ever rock concerts for an audience in the stone Roman amphitheatre, and, for two nights only, the 2,600 strong crowd stood exactly where gladiators would have fought in the first century AD.

David Gilmour Live At Pompeii is an audio experience on its own, while the audio-visual spectacle features lasers, pyrotechnics and a huge circular screen on which specially-created films complement selected songs. Paramount, however, is the incredible music: the show includes songs from throughout David's career, as well as many Pink Floyd classics, including “One Of These Days”, the only song that was also performed at the band’s 1971 show.

Both concerts also saw very special performances of “The Great Gig In The Sky” from The Dark Side Of The Moon, which David rarely plays as a solo artist. The 2-disc concert CD was produced by David Gilmour, and mixed by Andy Jackson and David Gilmour. The 148-minute concert film includes highlights from both shows, filmed in 4k by director Gavin Elder. In honor of the theatrical release of Denis Villeneuve's Blade Runner 2049, progressive metal outfit Dissona have shared a cover of Vangelis’ song, “One More Kiss, Dear”, which appeared on the soundtrack for the 1982 version of Blade Runner. The track can be heard below.

Regarding their decision for covering the cult classic, the band explained, “It is clear that Dissona draws inspiration from a vast number of sources, though one we are particularly partial to would undoubtedly be science fiction. Producing themes, concepts, and moods like no other media genre, it has inspired us to create atmospheres throughout our discography and will continue to do so with our most current musical endeavor. Blade Runner is one of the best entries in the world of science fiction and, with the release of the new film, we found it appropriate to do this homage to a classic piece from the original.”

In regards to the new, yet unnamed album, Dissona had the following to say: “Dissona is currently working on new material. We have big plans for the new album, where we will once again expand to brand new, unfamiliar territory while bringing our signature sound along with us. Black metal terrorists, Sicarius, plunge their dagger ever deeper with today’s premiere of their intense new clip, “Ferox Impetum”, off their forthcoming album, Serenade Of Slitting Throats, out this Friday the 13th of October.

"”Ferox Impetum” is a quick banger of a battle anthem - very direct and to the point,” cites guitarist Argyris. “Director Andrew Knudsen (Empyrean Throne) and I hashed out some ideas and we came up with the overall mood of the video. He interviewed a few camera teams and Zack Yan was the most promising. Everyone involved delivered 100%. It was the easiest video shoot I’ve been a part of, but our vocalist, K. Karcass, kept falling into the mass of rusted barbed wire so he was just gashed up by the end of the shoot. Pretty rad.”

Sicarius, meaning contract killer or assassin in Latin, formed three years ago in Southern California, and pay homage to the black metal greats of the early ‘90s, yet inject a modern high-velocity method to deliver their brand of bludgeoning and savage music. Ruthless, lethal and foul, Serenade Of Slitting Throats will be released via M-Theory Audio this Friday, featuring artwork by Misanthropic Art (Bolzer, Hate Eternal, Craft), and produced by Anaal Nathrakh’s Mick Kenney at Barrack Studios.

Iron Bonehead Productions has set January 5th as the international release date for the striking debut EP from Vhorthax, entitled Nether Darkness, on 12" MLP and CD formats. The track “Stabat Mater” is available for streaming below.

Hailing from Russia, Vhorthax was formed by members of the band Abyssfire - Morkh (voices & psalms - also Sickrites and Serpentrance), Nicholas-N.A.-I.I. (drums), and M.P. (guitars & bass) - in 2016 during a night of black candle mass meditations in their rehearsal bunker. There's no other goal but the channeling of primitive and cavernous chants of the Devil in the rough form of morbid black/death echoing with the sounds of the altars of worship. After several gigs, Vhorthax locked themselves in the bunker and crafted the four foul songs branded as Nether Darkness.

Now bookended by a suitably haunting intro and outro, Nether Darkness indeed evokes its title: a plunge into the deepest, darkest recesses of the eternal abyss. Muscular yet atmospheric and travelling across all sorts of diabolical terrain, Vhorthax craft a sound that's both patient and potent, simmering with sinister energies before winding up and into a fiery fury. Moments of ritualism become full conflagrations, and the slipstreaming momentum becomes too much to bare. Truly, this is Nether Darkness, and Vhorthax are leading the way downward with torch in hand.

Almanac, the symphonic metallers led by ex-Rage guitarist Victor Smolski, have released a second video trailer for their upcoming sophomore album, Kingslayer, out on November 24th via Nuclear Blast. Watch below.

Kingslayer was recorded with producer Andreas Herr at HeyDay Studios in Wuppertal, Germany. The cover artwork was once again created by Hungarian artist Gyula Havancsák (Accept, Destruction).

"Our second strike is complete," reveals Victor Smolski and explains, that "Kingslayer is the logical follow-up to Tsar, just more compact, heavier and faster. The experience now under our belts gained from our many live experiences, including the two tours and festivals, has been fully implemented in the studio. The band have grown closer and stronger, you can feel this unified energy within the new tracks. We took a lot of time and gave our very best. Almanac recently played at the Masters of Rock Festival, where they debuted the first two new tracks live, “Losing My Mind” and “Children Of The Sacred Path”. The concert was filmed and will be part of a bonus live DVD, which will accompany the limited first edition of Kingslayer.

German epic black metal trio, Imperious, will release the albums Tales Of Woe - The Journey Of Odysseus, Part I: From Ilion To Hades and Tales Of Woe - The Journey Of Odysseus, Part II: From Hades To Ithaca on November 17th via Massacre Records.

With a high attention to detail and Homer's text, Imperious tells the story of Odysseus and his epic journey.

The albums were mixed and mastered by Markus Stock at Klangschmiede Studio E. The cover artwork has been created by Kalmesh and features the painting "The Blinding Of Polyphemus" by Christian Wilhelm Ernst Dietrich on the artwork of Part I and Johann Heinrich Füssli's "Odysseus between Skylla and Charybdis" on the artwork of Part II.
