BLACK SABBATH Returns To Birmingham For Two Sold-Out Shows; BBC Report Available (Video)
Original members of Birmingham, England's heavy metal pioneers BLACK SABBATH returned to the city for two sell-out concerts. With the exception of one "intimate" homecoming show the band played at Birmingham Academy on May 19, 2012, the dates at Birmingham's LG Arena (December 20) and National Indoor Arena (December 22) marked the first time the trio had played together in the city since May 2005. Fans from as far as Australia travelled to the concerts, with many queuing outside the venues for 12 hours before the shows began. Bassist Geezer Butler and lead guitarist Tony Iommi, who formed the band with singer Ozzy Osbourne in 1968, said Birmingham gigs are always the "most nerve-wracking" to play. Check out a BBC report below.
Fan-filmed video footage of BLACK SABBATH's December 22 concert at National Indoor Arena in Birmingham, England can be seen below.
The band's setlist was as follows:
01. War Pigs 02. Into The Void 03. Under The Sun / Every Day Comes And Goes 04. Snowblind 05. Age Of Reason 06. Black Sabbath 07. Behind The Wall Of Sleep 08. N.I.B. 09. End Of The Beginning 10. Fairies Wear Boots 11. Rat Salad 12. Tommy Clufetos Drum Solo13. Iron Man 14. God Is Dead? 15. Dirty Women 16. Children Of The Grave
Encore:
17. Paranoid
According to The Pulse Of Radio, BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi is not sure if making a follow-up to this year's reunion album, "13", would be a good idea for the group. Iommi said in Revolver magazine, "I don't know if that would be an anticlimax if we wrote another album. I'd like to, but we haven't actually spoken about it, you know? I don't know if that would be a good idea after this one, because this one's done so well. I'm sure we'd all like to do one. But I don't know. Maybe I should talk to the others about it." Bassist Geezer Butler added, "I really haven't thought about it. I'm just glad that we made this one. It can't be something where you go in and go, 'Well, that one was No. 1, so let's do another No. 1 album.' I think we'll know if we can do it or if we can't. If we have to force it, then we won't be doing it."
"13", the first SABBATH album in 35 years to feature Iommi, Butler and singer Ozzy Osbourne recording together, went No. 1 around the world, earning the band their first chart-topper ever in the U.S.
Ozzy said about the prospects of making another record, "I don't want to say there's going to be another album, because I don't want you to ask me in another year, 'What happened when you said you were going to do another record?' I'll leave it open. I'm open for anything. I have three albums to deliver of my own solo thing to my record label."
Ozzy added, "We'll all still be doing music. It's been a lot of fun doing it with BLACK SABBATH, and I'm not sorry at all for getting back together."
The making of "13" was marked by several dramatic events, including drummer Bill Ward's withdrawal from the project over a contractual dispute and Iommi's cancer diagnosis.
Butler told Revolver that he started writing a song for "13", called "Hanging By A Thread", that was inspired by Iommi's illness. He explained, "It was very much about dying, about giving your last breath and passing your spirit on." But the track didn't make it onto the album because, Butler said, "We never came up with the finished thing."
BLACK SABBATH will return to North America in 2014 for 10 shows that will be among the last in support of "13".

GLENN HUGHES' New Album To Feature Guest Appearance By JULIAN LENNON
Legendary bassist/vocalist Glenn Hughes (BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION, ex-DEEP PURPLE, BLACK SABBATH) has wrapped up his time in a Nashville, Tennessee recording studio laying down new music with a band he has put together over the past few months. The disc, which is expected in May 2014, will include a special guest appearance by Julian Lennon, John Lennon's (THE BEATLES) son with his first wife Cynthia, on a duet with Glenn.
Says Hughes: "Jules is the one who helped me put our new band together.
"We all love you, Jules. "Yes. Jules and I are singing together on the new Nashville album. He is in Monaco. We sent him the files last night — which he recorded in record time. We received them back four hours ago!
"Trust me. Jules is the real dang deal."
Adds Lennon: "The one and only Glenn Hughes et moi, singing together for the first time ever last night. Even if we are 4746 miles apart, technology today. Who would have thought."
Julian Lennon previously stated about Glenn Hughes: "I can say, without a doubt, he is one of the best singers/songwriters/performers I have ever seen. His range is mind-blowing! And his talent knows no bounds."

THE CULT's IAN ASTBURY Says 'The Old Way' Of Releasing New Music 'Just Isn't Working'
According to The Pulse Of Radio, THE CULT are ready to wrap up a five-month world-tour and they're already planning their next move. The band's frontman, Ian Astbury, told RollingStone.com: "We're playing around with the idea of putting new music out as capsules. That means we'd release two new songs every three months grouped with a live recording of songs from our catalog plus visual elements. We'd do it in all formats: vinyl, digital downloads, CDs…Everything available. It'll be dropped for a limited time in a quick strike and then it's gone." The problem with the band's plan is that they owe an album to U.K. indie label Cooking Vinyl. Astbury explained, "They aren't interested in the capsule idea. They want to put CDs on shelves. I'm like, 'What shelves?' Even the shelf space at Best Buy is shrinking; I was in Whole Foods the other day and they were selling vinyl… But I'm amazed at the resistance to my idea. We've even tried the self-funding route, but when you're pioneering something you constantly have to go around and educate people about what this is. This a fresh perspective. The old way just isn't working."
He added, "Something is going to come out in 2014 or 2015. We haven't locked in a producer and right now we're going to let the music dictate where we go. We're not tied into breaking onto the Billboard Hot 100 and getting on television and all that stuff."

GAMMA RAY Drummer's MURDER ONE: Previously Unreleased 2000 Album Sees Light Of Day
MURDER ONE was a band founded by Michael Ehré and Frank Schütte in 1997. After the release of their first album, "Murder One", in 1998, the band returned to the studio in 2000 to work on an even more impressive piece of music.
On this album, Sven Lüdke and Dennis Krüger appeared for the first time as additional songwriters and guitar players. The band developed its own sound and style, and recorded ten songs showing MURDER ONE at its very best.
With the hard pounding opener "In Your Mind", followed by the uptempo song "Angel Of Blood", to the doomsday scenario "#3", the album constantly surprises the listeners, musically and lyrically, and takes them on a journey into the dark depths of the human psychology.
"With his lyrics, Frank sometimes exceeds the bounds of good taste," says the band. The most extreme example is the song "Feel" — which represents he view of things from the sick mind of a rapist and serial killer.
Ehré is the current drummer in GAMMA RAY who has previously played with ex-SCORPIONS guitar legend Uli Jon Roth. He has also been involved with METALIUM and FIREWIND.
Ludke currently plays the guitar for the internationally successful band MOB RULES.
MURDER ONE split up in 2001 but decided to make its previously unreleased sophomore album, "Touched", available after more than 12 years.
"Due to the events in Hamburg, where a building complex of rehearsal rooms and a recording studio burned down, we decided to release this album and donate a part of the proceeds to the affected bands," MURDER ONE says in a statement.

DEF LEPPARD Won't Sue ONE DIRECTION For Plagiarism
According to The Pulse Of Radio, contrary to Internet rumors, DEF LEPPARD will not be suing pop group ONE DIRECTION. Some fans are up in arms over the similarities between the ONE DIRECTION chart-topper "Midnight Memories" and DEF LEPPARD's 1987 track "Pour Some Sugar On Me", which peaked at No. 2 in 1988. LEPPARD's two guitarists, "Sugar" co-writer Phil Collen and Vivian Campbell spoke to Billboard about the song, with Collen stating the songs are "very similar in structure" but nothing more. Campbell added: "The chords are one-four-five. Those are the blues. You don't get more basic than that. I think what's more reminiscent of the LEPPARD thing is the production, the sound, the vocals, the reverb and the way it's assembled. That is very flattering that all of a sudden these kids think it's a cool sound. I think a lot of people of their generation aren't going to connect their music to ours." Phil Collen said that this situation isn't the same as the similarities between and ROBIN THICKE's "Blurred Lines" and MARVIN GAYE's classic "Got to Give It Up". "That's different," he said. "In fact, it's got the mayonnaise jar and people hooting in the background which Marvin Gaye had. I don't see that you can do that. The ONE DIRECTION one is very similar in structure, but it's all good."
Earlier this year, THE WHO was rumored to be contemplating a lawsuit against ONE DIRECTION for the production similarities between their "Best Song Ever" and "Baba O'Riley" — until Pete Townshend went public to dispel the rumors and state that he was flattered by them being influenced by his record.
DEF LEPPARD guitarist Phil Collen told The Pulse Of Radio he and his bandmates always look forward to playing their hits out on the road. "Every night when someone's singing along — especially when there's a lot of young kids there, 16-year-olds and that — it is fresh, actually makes you feel really good when there's a whole new breed of people just singing away to songs that you've done," he said. "It doesn't really matter whether it's a new song or an old song, it's still our song, so it's a huge compliment. It really is, it's the best thing in the world."

WAYNE STATIC's Collaboration With DMC: 'Noise Revolution' Video Released
"Noise Revolution", the video for the brand new collaborative track between DMC of the legendary RUN-DMC and STATIC-X mainman Wayne Static, can be seen below. The track is also available for purchase on iTunes.
DMC, one of the pioneers of hip hop music, is also credited as being the first to blend rock with rap, most notably with a RUN-DMC rendition of "Walk This Way" by AEROSMITH, which also featured vocals by Steven Tyler.
Once again, DMC looks to break new ground by synthesizing the industrial sound of Static's undeniable vocal approach with his trail blazing rap style.
The clip was directed by Matt Zane (Wayne Static, Zakk Wylde, ORGY, SOCIETY 1, ANNIHILATED).
"The 'Noise Revolution' song and video is a powerful statement that shows that our art and creativity is the most important representation of the people," said DMC.
"Working with Wayne Static and Matt Zane to knock down walls and bring people together with a positive message is inspiring and empowering!"
Static, who is no stranger to combining different styles and is known for the creation of "evil disco," did not hesistate when he got the chance to work with one of the all-time great hip hop artists.
"The opportunity to work with a legend like DMC was a great honor and an experience like no other," said Wayne. "We performed onstage together in Austin a while back and I hope we have more opportunities to perform together again."
Wayne also went on to explain how he has always been in favor of mixing several styles of music.
"I have always believed combining different genres of music is a great way to create exciting new sounds," he said. "In fact, I've based most of my career on combining unexpected styles in innovative ways. This collaboration with DMC is a prime example of how we can break through traditional expectations of metal and rap to create a badass new sound, and that is really the theme of the song for me as well. This song is a 'Noise Revolution'!"
Zane was equally excited to be presented with an opportunity to direct the "Noise Revolution" video.
"I was all about THE DOORS, VAN HALEN, KING DIAMOND and RUN-DMC when I was growing up," he said. "When DMC flew out to Los Angeles to meet, I couldn't believe I was sitting across the table from him discussing concepts for something I was going to direct. I was trying to keep it together but really my mind was going crazy. I didn't want to let on that I was such a huge fan and had all the records."

Black Metal Documentary 'Out Of The Black' Released Via YouTube
The long-awaited and -overdue black metal documentary entitled "Out Of The Black - A Black Metal Documentary" has been released for free via YouTube.
Executive director William Shackleford said: "This film has been one hell of a journey — a lot of money, pain, intrigue and on and on and on. So thank God it's finally released.
"I think we made a good film. We wanted to stay true to the art, and as you know, that's very hard to accomplish in this materialistic world, but we did it anyway.
"I have to thank really one person: artistic director Stefan Rydehed from Sweden. Without that guy, we would have nothing. A true talent."
Rydehed said: "I think we made a good film. We accomplished what we wanted to accomplish. We did not want to follow a trend that is so common within black metal documentaries, the church burnings, all this stuff. We wanted to examine the music, social a religious aspects of the art and we did that."
The film can be viewed ad-free below.

ADRENALINE MOB: New Song 'Behind These Eyes' Available For Streaming
ADRENALINE MOB recently inked a North American deal with Century Media Records, the label the group was previously signed to only for the European territory. The band's second full-length album, "Men Of Honor", will be released February 18 in North America and February 24 internationally. ADRENALINE MOB's current lineup includes Russell Allen (vocals; also of SYMPHONY X), Mike Orlando (guitar), John Moyer (bass; also of DISTURBED), and the band's latest addition, drummer A.J. Pero (also of TWISTED SISTER).
"Men Of Honor" features 11 new original songs produced by Allen and Orlando. 01. Mob Is Back02. Come On Get Up03. Dearly Departed04. Behind These Eyes05. Let It Go06. Feel The Adrenaline07. Men Of Honor08. Crystal Clear09. House Of Lies10. Judgment Day11. Fallin' To Pieces
The song "Behind These Eyes" can now be streamed using the SoundCloud widget below.
Drummer Mike Portnoy (FLYING COLORS, THE WINERY DOGS, DREAM THEATER, AVENGED SEVENFOLD) quit ADRENALINE MOB in June due to "scheduling conflicts."
In a recent interview with Brazil's "Wikimetal", Allen stated about Portnoy's departure from ADRENALINE MOB: "He's been, obviously, real busy with THE WINERY DOGS. The truth of it is we wanna keep working, we wanna keep doing ADRENALINE MOB and we don't wanna wait around for Mike to have the time [to put into ADRENALINE MOB]. And he doesn't know when he will have the time again, so that's really what's going down. Mike Portnoy was asked to be in the band by myself. Me and Orlando had already written all the material, so [ADRENALINE MOB's debut album] 'Omertá' was completely finished before Mike joined the act. And it's a bummer, but he's got his sights on other things, and he's not gonna stick around. So we wish him the best of luck, but the MOB's gotta go on."
ADRENALINE MOB released "Covertá", an eight-track EP featuring cover versions of some of the group's favorite songs, on March 12.

Video: SEPULTURA's ANDREAS KISSER And Son YOHAN Perform BLACK SABBATH, IRON MAIDEN Covers
Video footage of KISSER CLAN, the project featuring SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser and his 16-year-old son Yohan Kisser, along with TORTURE SQUAD drummer Amilcar Christófaro, performing classic songs by DIO, BLACK SABBATH and IRON MAIDEN on December 21 at Kabala Pub in São Paulo, Brazil can be seen below.
Andreas and his wife, Patricia Perissinotto Kisser, have three children together: Giulia, Yohan and Enzo.
SEPULTURA's new album, "The Mediator Between Head And Hands Must Be The Heart", sold around 1,800 copies in the United States in its first week of release.
"The Mediator Between Head And Hands Must Be The Heart" was released on October 29 via Nuclear Blast Records.
Although it was inspired by Fritz Lang's classic 1927 movie "Metropolis", "The Mediator Between Head And Hands Must Be The Heart" is not a concept album or a soundtrack like its precedessors "Dante XXI" (based on "The Divine Comedy") and "A-Lex" (based on "A Clockwork Orange").
"The Mediator Between The Head And Hands Must Be The Heart" was tracked over a 40-day period at producer Ross Robinson's (KORN, LIMP BIZKIT, SLIPKNOT) studio in Venice, California and was mixed and mastered by co-producer Steve Evetts, who previously worked with SEPULTURA on the "Nation" (2001), "Revolusongs" (2002) and "Roorback" (2003) albums, in addition to having collaborated with Ross on a number of other projects in the past.

PRIMAL FEAR Guitarist MAGNUS KARLSSON To Sit Out Tour; TOM NAUMANN To Fill In
PRIMAL FEAR guitarist Magnus Karlsson will sit out the band's upcoming touring activites during 2014 so that he can spend more time with his "little kids." Filling in for him will be PRIMAL FEAR's founding member Tom Naumann.
Says Karlsson: "My friends in PRIMAL FEAR are very understanding about my situation and for that I'm grateful."
Frontiers Records will release "Delivering The Black", the tenth studio album from PRIMAL FEAR, on January 24 in Europe and January 28 in North America.
Audio samples of all the tracks that are set to appear on the CD can be streamed at Amazon.com.
After some very intense songwriting sessions and pre-production schedule, the band started to record the new CD in summer 2013 at the House Of Music studios in Germany, with bassist/producer Mat Sinner and engineer Achim Köhler (EDGUY, MASTERPLAN). The band then moved to Denmark in September to finish the album, with acclaimed producer/engineer Jacob Hansen (VOLBEAT, PRETTY MAIDS, AMARANTHE) handling the mix at his Hansen studio in Ribe.
"Delivering The Black" combines the strongest PRIMAL FEAR moments ever, with a well-balanced typical PRIMAL FEAR trademark riff vibe, crushing songs and some very ambitious musical journeys. The centerpiece of the album are two epic tracks, "When Death Comes Knocking" and the 10-minute opus "One Night In December", spiced with big orchestral arrangements and complex sound designs.
Classic and ultra-fresh PRIMAL FEAR riff-rockers like the title track, the album opener "King For A Day" or the groove monsters "Alive And On Fire" and "Road To Asylum" hit the bulls-eye just like the untamed speed killer "Rebel Faction". The outstanding ballad "Born With A Broken Heart" shows a new side of PRIMAL FEAR with an acoustic guitar vibe and the addition of Liv Kristine (LEAVES' EYES) on backing vocals.
Says PRIMAL FEAR singer Ralf Scheepers: "We worked hard to create our best album ever. I already felt the vibe during the pre-production that we were working on something very special this time. And now the result is just an amazing metal album I'm extremely proud of!" Sinner adds: "The songs, the production, the sound — this album is a very special one for me and my career. In my view, everybody in the band just did a killer job and Jacob was fantastic choice to mix the album!"
The arrival of "Delivering The Black" is preceded by the release of the digital-only single/video "When Death Comes Knocking" on December 2 — a song which sets the pace for the outstanding quality of production and songwriting displayed on the full album.
Check out the "When Death Comes Knocking" video below.
"Delivering The Black" will be made available in a regular CD edition, deluxe edition with two bonus tracks and — in cooperation with Soulfood Music — vinyl edition and DVD and limited edition (666 copies only!) of a super-deluxe version, including a metallic eagle.
"Delivering The Black" track listing:
01. King For A Day02. Rebel Faction03. When Death Comes Knocking04. Alive & On Fire05. Delivering The Black06. Road To Asylum07. One Night In December08. Never Pray For Justice09. Born With A Broken Heart10. Innocent Man *11. Inseminoid12. Man Without Shadow *13. When Death Comes Knocking (Single Edit) *
* Only available on deluxe edition
DVD (only available with deluxe edition)
* When Death Comes Knocking (video)* King For A Day (video)* Making Of The Album (video)
PRIMAL FEAR's "Eagles And Lions Tour 2014" will kick off in Germany on January 24 and will include stops in 10 European countries. Support on the trek will come from Swedish hard rockers BULLET.
PRIMAL FEAR will return to North America in the spring with a headlining run that is scheduled to launch April 29 in Baltimore, Maryland and wrap on May 24 in Rochester, New York.
Frontiers and PRIMAL FEAR in January announced that they have renewed their partnership for another multi-album deal, which will include two more studio releases and one live CD and DVD. PRIMAL FEAR's latest album, "Unbreakable", landed at position No. 44 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200. | 0 | |

BLOOD EAGLE, the Danish death metal band featuring members of VOLBEAT, MNEMIC, HATESPHERE, ILLDISPOSED and RAUNCHY, has made its debut EP, "Kill Your Tyrants", available for free download at site.bloodeagle.info.
Says BLOOD EAGLE: "We firmly believe in music being as free as possible, unlocked, shared and spread.
"We believe that in order for artists to survive and create, their audiences need to step up and directly support them.
"Doesn't matter if you're rich or broke — take it! The only way to pay us back is by tweeting for us, put it in a status update on Facebook, Instagramming it and once you have it, SHARE SHARE SHARE! COPY COPY COPY! SPREAD THE BLOOD EAGLE!!!"
BLOOD EAGLE's second music video, "Death Sub Zero", can be seen below. The clip was filmed at the group's debut show at the 2013 edition of the Aalborg Metal Festival, which was held November 7-9 at Studenterhuset in Aalborg, Denmark.

SCORPIONS' Klaus Meine On MTV Unplugged In Athens - “The Intention Was To Play Songs That We Never Performed Before”
SCORPIONS' new offering, MTV Unplugged, is out now in Europe on 2CD, DVD, Blu-ray and in various other digital and physical configurations. The release is due out in Canada via Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc. on January 21st. A US release date is pending.
Greece's Rockpages.gr recently conducted an interview with singer Klaus Meine in the wake of the release. An excerpt follows:
Q: What were the criteria you chose the songs you played with?
A: "When this MTV offer came in, since we made Acoustica in 2001, we didn’t want to repeat ourselves, we wanted to come up with a whole new set of music, and our intention was not to rely on the big hits, the big classics. If it was for us we wouldn’t even have played them! Later on, our label of course insisted that 'Still Loving You', 'Wind Of Change', '(Rock You Like A) Hurricane', all those songs were going to be part of that show, but our intention was to hopefully put out a whole new show up on stage with songs we never performed live... At least a lot of them. Songs with different arrangements, and some new songs. That was the intention.
We made a list of songs that we discussed it with our producers, and our Swedish friends, Martin Hansen, and Mikael Nord Andersson, and Matthias (Jabbs) went up to Stockholm and they picked together songs out of the list we recommended. And then he came back with eight or nine songs, they came to Germany played them to us, we listened to the arrangements and we liked, or we didn’t like it, and we changed it... so, this way over the time of six months we built up the whole show... the whole set. I think we had in total thirty, or forty songs, but in the end we picked those 24-25-26 songs. It was three sessions, where together with another Swedish musician, Hans Gardemar, who came in heavily with the new songs’ arrangements, and when we listened back, it was part of going back into the Scorpions history, going back all the way to the ‘70s... and the intention was to put up on stage songs that we’ve never performed, like 'Born To Touch Your Feelings', 'When You Came Into My Life', 'Passion Rules The Game'... we found so many tracks that we never played live, and that the attraction.
And we knew that our Greek fans have a big heart for our early material and for those songs that are not so very well known outside our loyal fan base. I think we were right there because we picked so many songs for this kind of show and it worked out fantastic. 'Where The River Flows' is another one we never played live, and on this show we played it with harmonica. 'Born To Touch Your Feelings' with accordion came out so beautiful... even 'Hit Between The Eyes' or 'Rock You Like A Hurricane' with a mandolin... it has inherited almost a Greek touch. 'Rock You Like A Hurricane' feels now like a Greek song! And it’s like a whole new dimension... and it was such a huge challenge for MTV to become part of this very special family of artists, that have been in MTV Unplugged over the years. It’s a great honor to be a part of that very illustrious MTV Unplugged family."
Read the full interview here.
Check out the official EPK (electronic press kit) for MTV Unplugged:
On September 11th and 12th, 2013 and as part of their massive 38-date Farewell World Tour, Klaus Meine (vocals, guitars), Rudolf Schenker (guitars, vocals), Matthias Jabs (guitars), Pawel Maciwoda (bass) and James Kottak (drums) played two fantastic acoustic sets in the Lycabettus Theatre, Athens and made history in the process; it is the first ever open-air show in the history of MTV Unplugged.
Throughout its two-and-a-half hours, the show features an impressive range of brand new songs and classic tracks. As vocalist Klaus Meine recalls; “We played here many years ago. It is a beautiful place. I can remember that even back then the fans climbed onto the surrounding rocks. Of course we played some of the greatest classics this time, but we also performed a few new songs as well as material that we had never played live up to then. Those are songs which are very popular with the fans but which somehow never made it onto the set lists.”
The Scorpions evidently enjoyed this musical rollercoaster ride through their own history. It is equally obvious that both rock songs and power ballads display their class and style even when rendered as acoustic versions. The melodies maintain their timeless compositional appeal and the quality of the performance showcases the band at their very best.
The show opens with ‘Sting In The Tail’, arranged in a Cajun style. This song, taken from the eponymous album of 2010, bears witness to how deeply the Scorpions are rooted in rock 'n' roll and blues. The same applies to the set of classics that follow, such as ‘Pictured Life’, ‘Speedy's Coming’ or the hymnal ‘Born To Touch Your Feelings’ There are even more nuggets from the sheer endless stock of hits such as ‘Rock You Like A Hurricane’ ‘Still Loving You’ ‘Big City Nights’, ‘No One Like You’ ‘When The Smoke Is Going Down’ and ‘Wind Of Change’– as well as a few welcome surprises to dazzle the connoisseur. ‘When You Came Into My Life’, where Rudolf Schenker plays a sitar, is one of those tracks which the Scorpions had never before played live, as are ‘Where The River Flows’ and ‘Passion Rules The Game’. They also perform ‘Love Is The Answer’ a ballad for which Rudolf Schenker took over as lead vocalist – a feat that does not happen very often. And immediately after this, Klaus Meine surprises us with the world premiere of ‘Follow Your Heart’ in this exceptional set of two dozen songs.

PAUL STANLEY: It's 'Way Too Early' To Discuss Which Members Of KISS Will Perform At ROCK HALL Induction Ceremony
KISS members Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons will be recognizing their former bandmates at the upcoming Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame ceremony next April at Brooklyn's Barclays Center. Among the other inductees in the 2014 class are Peter Gabriel, NIRVANA, Linda Ronstadt, Daryl Hall & John Oates, and Cat Stevens. Although Simmons has sworn off ever reuniting with KISS co-founders Ace Frehley and Peter Criss, he tweeted a heartfelt message to all past and present members of KISS congratulating them on the honor: "Congratulations to Ace-Peter-Eric Carr (RIP)- Vinny-Mark (RIP)- Bruce-Tommy-Eric Singer & my partner Paul. And mostly, to The KISS ARMY." Seeing as how Simmons thanked former members Vinnie Vincent and Bruce Kulick, many fans are already bracing themselves for a possible performance of all living members of KISS at the Rock Hall. Drummer Eric Carr died in 1991 at age 41 of heart cancer and guitarist Mark St. John died in 2007 at age 51 of a cerebral hemorrhage.
Gene Simmons told Rolling Stone: "KISS is Tommy Thayer, Eric Singer, Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons. It's like, if you introduced me to your wife and I go, 'Wait, where are all the other wives?' It's like, 'Yeah, I was married to them and now I'm here.'"
He went on to say that he was open to performing with Criss and Frehley at the ceremony, stating: "They were equally important in the formation of the band. When you have kids with your first wife, you give kudos. The fact you got remarried doesn't delete or minimize the important. Hey, 'You have gave birth to this thing, KISS, with Ace, Peter, Paul and Gene.'"
The Pulse Of Radio asked Paul Stanley whom we could expect to be onstage on April 10 performing at the Rock Hall induction ceremony. "It's way too early to get into that," he said. "Y'know, today is really, for us, a day to celebrate everything KISS has been and is. There's no getting around, or nobody would want to get around, the fact that Peter, Ace, Gene, and I, built a foundation, which has stood the test of time and allowed us to build a monument for 40 years. So today is a day I wholeheartedly embrace and, y'know, acknowledge Peter and Ace — and likewise, a lot of people who have been in the band and also standing by the band — and that includes the fans."
The Pulse Of Radio asked Stanley who, if any, of the past and present members of KISS he's spoken to since hearing the news. "I've only spoken to Gene and that will get remedied and rectified today. 'Cause this is a day to celebrate and a day where I want to make sure that everybody who's due a congratulations and a little time remembering what we've done and what we're doing, will be contacted."
Paul Stanley went on to tweet that his memoir, "Face The Music: A Life Exposed" is set for publication April 22, also posted about reaching out to Peter Criss. "We just spoke with Peter. Whatever ongoing issues, no way to not share in celebrating what we started 40 years ago."

US Melodic Rockers NEW MEDICINE Sign With Imagen Records; New Album Set For Spring Release
Imagen Records has announced their latest signing - Minneapolis, Minnesota-based melodic hard rockers NEW MEDICINE, led by singer/rhythm guitarist Jake Scherer. The group's first release for their new label will drop sometime in spring 2014, and will serve as the follow-up to 2010's Race You To The Bottom, which nearly topped the US Heatseekers Chart, and spawned such popular songs/videos as 'Laid', 'Rich Kids', and 'Race You To The Bottom'. It's being kept under wraps as far as what to expect musically, but it's being hinted that the adolescent angst sound has gone away, as Scherer has now emerged as a man ready to rock the world confidently.
As Scherer explains, "The writing process began 3 1/2 years ago, as I wrote over 40 songs for the new release. New Medicine has been road testing some of the new material, seeing what tunes the audiences react strongest to, and tweaking the new songs to make it more cohesive and translate well live. We moved to Nashville to focus on the new songs, and experienced a creative re-birth, which I am confident will take the band to a new level. The songs come first - New Medicine is/ not/ making the same record over again."
Grammy Award-nominated Kevin Kadish has signed on as producer of the as-yet-to-be-titled disc. Kevin has worked previously with such renowned artists as SKILLET, JASON MRAZ, SR-71 and NIKKI SIXX among countless others.
"We are excited to sign New Medicine to the label, and know we are going to make a great record," said the President of Imagen, Bob Winegard. "After hearing some of the new tracks, I'm really impressed with how Jake is rapidly maturing as a songwriter. I believe the fans will view this as a clear breakthrough for the band."
New Medicine has already created a buzz from coast to coast, as their total record sales have topped over 30K nationwide, and have scored a top 15 media base active rock single with 'Race You To The Bottom'. And the band has already logged 3 years of hard touring, having played shows with the likes of AVENGED SEVENFOLD and SHINEDOWN, as well as part of such package shows as Carnival of Madness and the Uproar Festival. And once the new album is released, New Medicine plan to embark on additional lengthy touring - including headline dates, package and festival touring.

A HERO A FAKE, MY HERO IS ME Members Launch New Band BORNSTELLAR
BORNSTELLAR is a new metal band featuring members of A HERO A FAKE (Victory Records) and MY HERO IS ME (Tragic Hero Records). Based out of North Carolina, the band has spent the end of 2013 recording their debut EP with producers Drew Fulk and Kyle Odell at Think Sound Studio in Greensboro, NC.
“The idea for Bornstellar started after our last tour back in May. Justin (Brown), Patrick (Jeffers), and I had been working on new music but we weren’t exactly happy with how it was turning out. Then, on the first day in the studio, the idea was brought up of completely starting fresh as new band. Almost immediately knew we had to do it.
That was key. That creative freedom is what got us excited to be writing music again. No longer was it about what sub-genre it fit into, it was only about crafting the best songs. Being able to have this experience with my two closest friends is something I cherish and I couldn’t be more excited to show our work to the world.”
Joined by My Hero Is Me drummer Scott Shelton, the band has released an in-studio announcement video.

BLEEDING FIST To Release Compilation Death’s Old Stench In March
Moribund Records has announced March 4th, 2014 as the release date for BLEEDING FIST’s new compilation, Death’s Old Stench. Subtitled The Deathcult Sessions, with Death’s Old Stench, the Slovenian chaos black metallers open up their crypt to reveal an arsenal of unreleased songs from 2011-2013.
At a dozen tracks strong, Death's Old Stench unveils a different side to Bleeding Fist, one less manic and chaotic and more classically grim and ghastly. Still characteristically Bleeding Fist, this special collection serves as a haunting precursor to their next Moribund album, of which seven songs were recently written - "the result that came out of a weekend drenched in alcoholic rites, a sick-to-the-bone old black/thrash metal monstrosity," according to a band statement.
Tracklisting and cover for Death's Old Stench are as follows:
‘Angel Negro (Intro)’
‘Holy Saint Of Death’
‘Brotherhood Of Chaos And Death’
‘Revelation Of Degenesis’
‘The Veiled Crowned Queen’
‘De La Muerte (Intermezzo)’
‘Azazel’
‘Death Almighty Death’
‘Blackened Illumination’
‘Tweens Of Darkness And Evil’
‘Cursed Blood’
‘Prelude To The Total Death 266 (Outro)’
Regarding Death's Old Stench, vocalist Hellscream had the following to say: "Death's Old Stench is Bleeding Fist's strangest, most obscure and most esoteric effort. It's really different from what we've done up till now, but in a way, it describes perfectly one of darkest times in our life as a band and as individuals. After the departure of (guitarists) Angelus and Occultus, we thought whether to release this album, because it was incomplete and in a partial demo form, so we decided in 2013 to finish this work and release it as raw and fucked-up as it was when we last left the studio. So, this is not really a new Bleeding Fist album, but a strange and alchemic occult statement to honor our master Satan."
In other Bleeding Fist news, the band welcomes new guitarist Jex, who replaces the aforementioned Angelus and Occultus, and who has contributed to those aforementioned seven songs slated for the band's next Moribund full-length. A statement from the band reads: "A long span of silence is behind us. But as you know, the sickest intents grow in silence and solitude."
The new Bleeding Fist lineup is thus:
Hellscream - vocals
Infernal K. - bass guitar
Jex - guitar
Krieg – drums

SILVERTUNG Unleash Devil's In The Details Album; 'Coming Alive' Single Streaming
Baltimore, MD-based hard rockers SILVERTUNG have released their new album, Devil's In The Details. Produced/engineered by Steven Wright (who has worked with everyone from SLIPKNOT to AVRIL LAVIGNE), the just-released album is chock full of no nonsense, hard-hitting hard rock/heavy metal, as evidenced by the lead-off single, 'Coming Alive' (streaming below), as well as such awesome cuts as 'Justify' and 'Déjà Vu'.
As the group's singer/guitarist, Speed, explains, "This group of songs is definitely special. This CD is much more diverse, and I’d say it’s ‘deeper’."
Hailing from Maryland, Silvertung is comprised of Speed, lead guitarist ZZ, bassist Skoot, and drummer Danno, and have created a tremendous local buzz, on the strength of their live show, which has seen the quartet share the stage with countless national acts, including GODSMACK, DISTURBED, SHINEDOWN, SLIPKNOT, STAIND, PAPA ROACH, BUCKCHERRY, FILTER, DROWNING POOL, and P.O.D., among countless others.
And while it's their music and live performance that truly speaks for itself, the band also possesses quite an interesting moniker, as well.
"The name Silvertung was revived from an 80's porno movie, though the spelling was 'Silver Tongue'," recalls Speed. "We were practicing in my uncle's basement. And being guys, we had to check out these old porno tapes. Tapes! I think they were VHS tapes. [Laughs] But I really liked the name, just did not like the spelling. But then The Simpsons had an episode 'Silver Tongue,' and I thought, 'OK, this is a sign.' But I still did not like the spelling. So I thought, 'What about Tung instead of Tongue?' Heard something about the Korean Mafia, the Tungs. Thought that was very cool. The name Silvertung was born."
And as with all true hard rock bands, you can expect Silvertung to deliver the goods on the concert stage.
"We are absolutely passionate about live music," says ZZ. "It’s this exchange of energy from us to the crowd, then from the crowd right back to us. There is nothing else like it in the world. When the fans are singing our music back to us word for word, and their volume is louder than ours... wow. It doesn’t get any better than that."

W.E.T. To Release 'One Live – In Stockholm' CD/DVD In February
Frontiers Records will release of W.E.T.'s 2CD/DVD "One Live - In Stockholm" on February 21 in Europe and February 24 in North America.
On January 17, 2013, W.E.T. played an exclusive show at the Debaser Club in Stockholm, Sweden to celebrate the release of their sophomore album, "Rise Up". The show was promoted almost exclusively through a viral web campaign, so that night the faithful and energized crowd's fever for the band, featuring Robert Säll (the "W" from WORK OF ART), Erik Mårtensson (the "E" from ECLIPSE) and Jeff Scott Soto (the "T" from TALISMAN) was incredibly high (despite the cold Swedish winter being in full force). Fans flew in from all over the world and the venue was packed to the rafters when the band hit the stage with their driving number "Walk Away".
W.E.T. showcased songs from the then forthcoming album "Rise Up" as well as from the critically acclaimed self-titled 2009 debut album. A truly exquisite performance, where the band played many fan favorites including two TALISMAN songs, as well as one song each from ECLIPSE and WORK OF ART. The ECLIPSE song was "Bleed & Scream" which was sung by Erik Mårtensson and the WORK OF ART song was "The Great Fall" where the band were joined by Lars Säfsund, lead singer of WORK OF ART.
Jeff Scott Soto recalls: "For us, it was a magical night as much as a nervous one... We all have the experience of performing live to multitudes of people, the wisdom on how to take the show from A-Z but none of these items together as a new band. With that, you're witnessing something I know in 10-20 years time, we will all reflect upon as something special captured on film and recording as a moment in time we'll never forget."
The show was filmed and recorded for a live CD/DV release, which also includes two unreleased bonus tracks, studio cuts taken from the "Rise Up" sessions.
The resulting album "One Live - In Stockholm" captures a stunning performance and celebrates the birth of W.E.T. as a kick-ass live unit.

NAPALM DEATH Guitarist MITCH HARRIS' MENACE To Release Debut Album In March
Season Of Mist has announced the signing of MENACE, the brainchild of NAPALM DEATH axeman Mitch Harris.
MENACE's debut album, "Impact Velocity", will hit the stores on March 14 in Europe or March 18 in North America. The CD features contributions from Derek Roddy (drums), Fred Leclercq (bass), Nicola Manzan (violin, cello, viola), Shane Embury (bass), and Russ Russell (producer and navigator of paradoxology).
MENACE is a project for those who dare to be challenged. It is a journey across genres; neither claiming nor conforming to any particular known style, and a result of all musical history and culture.
Mitch comments: "The band is called MENACE, but to me, it is more than just a band or a solo project. It is the result of my life's work. It's a concept that has been in production for some time with most of the songs and intense work done in the last two years.
"The initial idea for MENACE began with a plan to work with Max Cavalera (SOULFLY, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY) and drummer Brann Dailor (MASTODON). Although Brann recorded two songs initially, his responsibilities with MASTODON didn't allow time for such an intricate collaboration. In fact, we all became incredibly busy and as a result, new directives evolved, and to achieve my goal for MENACE I needed to see the album through myself.
"To me, MENACE is the old meeting the new; heavy and melodic, descriptive and adventurous, epic and futuristic, carnal and primitive, and so on. MENACE brings unrealized dreams closer to fruition. It is about overcoming loss and hardship, and a combination of many interests, including spiritual philosophy, psychology, science, physics, theatrics, the supernatural, the paranormal, film, poetry, photography, art, sculpture and video; the things I've focused all my energy on over the last twenty years. It's an organic meets technological approach to exploration and self discovery through a direction I term audio-installationism (A.I.)."
Harris concludes, "Those familiar with my previous work will be in for a surprise and should expect the unexpected, but I'm a firm believer that even the most improbable dreams should be explored. MENACE is a statement in itself, a way of saying that there is always a way forward, no matter how difficult it seems. If you are still alive, then there is still something to achieve."

DOWN Completes Work On New EP
DOWN has completed work on its new EP for an early 2014 release. The CD was recorded at singer Philip Anselmo's New Orleans studio, Nodferatu's Lair and is the second in a series of EPs to be released over the next few years, each touching on a different aspect of the band's sound.
Speaking about the band's new material, DOWN guitarist Pepper Keenan told the "Metal Hammer" radio show: "It's kind of slight continuation of the first EP, but it's a little bit more… It's hard to say, man… It's more… I wouldn't say 'aggressive,' but it's definitely got some freaky guitar stuff on it. And it's definitely got a pretty good groove factor. And we spent a lot of time trying to make all the songs [fit together stylistically]. We had several songs that didn't quite match it, so we kind of [set them aside] and we're gonna move them to another EP. But it's got a super-heavy vibe to it, man. I mean, I'm really excited about it. Everybody in the band is excited about it."
He continued: "We wrote it kind of like we did the 'NOLA' record. Each one of us had some riffs and we got in a room and we just hashed it out like the old days — just going off each person's experiences and ideas. Everybody's ideas were valid, and it really ended up being well rounded and slamming. It was [a] very creative [process], let's put it that way. Actually, it was surprising some of us how much we really still got it."
Pepper also spoke about the cover theme for the next DOWN EP and how it will be connected to last year's "Down IV Part I - The Purple EP".
"When the second [EP] comes out, you'll see it as being an extension of the last cover," Pepper said. "So number 2 is gonna connect sideways to number 1, and you'll start to see a morphing kind of process. There's some kind of liquid light kind of thing that's kind of melding across as you go… I hate to quote the overall color, but I believe it's something like orange. I haven't looked at it in a while. It might not be orange yet, but it's heading in that direction."
Released in September 2012, "Down IV Part I - The Purple EP" sold 12,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 35 on The Billboard 200 chart.
Guitarist Kirk Windstein recently left DOWN and was replaced by Bobby Landgraf, the band's former guitar tech who was previously in GAHDZILLA MOTOR COMPANY, a 1990s outfit also featuring Jason McMaster (DANGEROUS TOYS, WATCHTOWER), and HONKY.
"I couldn't feel more blessed," Landgraf, 48, said in an interview. "Phil could've gotten anyone to play guitar, but I've been jamming with them during soundchecks, so they know we can play together."
"It's really a dream come true," added Landgraf. "It's what you're working for all those years."
