NEURAXIS is Now Streaming Their New Album

FIREFORCE: New Song Available For Streaming; \'March On\' Teaser Posted Online
 Belgian metallers FIREFORCE will release their new album, "March On", on March 25 March via 7Hard. The CD artwork was designed by Eric Philippe, who has previously worked with RHAPSODY, RIOT, MOB RULES, TNT and many others.
"March On" contains "12 tracks of true old-school power metal with a monster wall of sound," according to a press release. The track listing for the effort is as follows:

VERENPISARA To Release New Album This Month
 VERENPISARA, the Finnish band featuring AMORPHIS members Tomi Koivusaari and Santeri Kallio, will release its fourth album, "Eilinen On Kuollut", on February 23. The group started working on material for the CD five years ago, but record company problems and AMORPHIS commitments delayed the process, with the bulk of the recording sessions taking place over the last two summers.
Formed in the late 1990s, VERENPISARA (the Finnish name of the plant Fuchsia and Finnish for "drop of blood") has released three albums thus far: "Aamunodottaja" (2002), "Happosadetta" (2003) and "Irtileikattu" (2005).

UNHEILIG RUSSIA SHOWS ARE CANCELLED
 Dear UNHEILIG Fans,
we regret to inform you that the shows in Russia (April) have been cancelled. As a result of the attack at the Moscow airport there is some fear on the part of the UNHEILIG band. After due consideration this decision was made by the management. Unfortunately there are no plans for alternate concerts at present.
We are sorry that UNHEILIG haven't been to Russia for some years, but unforeseen circumstances make this impossible at the moment.
All the best from Germany to our fans in Russia!

TROLLFEST: New Album Track Listing, Artwork Unveiled
 Norwegian "Balkan metallers" TROLLFEST will release their new album, "En Kvest For Den Hellige Gral", on April 29 via NoiseArt Records. The CD will be made available as a limited-edition digipak with a bonus track. The title "En Kvest For Den Hellige Gral" can be roughly translated to "A Quest For The Holy Grail", and is a play on the word "quest" in both the accepted sense and in the sense of the Norwegian word "kvesting," which refers to the crushing of the crusaders — which is something the Trolls are doing throughout the album.

WIZARD: New Song Available For Streaming
 German true metal squad WIZARD will release its ninth studio album, "...Of Wariwulfs And Bluotvarwes", on March 25 on CD and limited-edition vinyl via Massacre Records. The concept effort, based on the story written by the famous German fantasy writer André Wiesler, was recorded by Volker Leson at the Magic Hall Studio in Bocholt, and was mixed and mastered by Achim Köhler (PRIMAL FEAR, SINNER). DARKTHRONE\'s FENRIZ: 'We Are The Definition Of Keeping It So Real It's Unreal'
 Shannon Joy of the LA Music Blog recently conducted an interview with Leif Gylve Nagell, better known in the music community as Fenriz, the drummer and lyricist of the legendary Norwegian black metal band DARKTHRONE. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.
LA Music Blog: "Circle the Wagons" was released last year and carries a heavier punk and speed metal influence than much of your previous work. Was that the intention going into the writing and recording process?
Fenriz: There is never any intention; we make what we need to make — in other words, what our hearts tell us to. The opposite would be doing the Christian thing of trying to control every next step, and also the way we record this and that and how we write. There are no plans, and we only write one song each at a time. So there you have it — we are the definition of keeping it so real it's unreal.
LA Music Blog: Musically, DARKTHRONE seems to be doing a 360, returning to a similar sound as to where the band initially started out. Although the process somewhat began with "The Cult Is Alive", what was your motivation to take such an extreme departure from black metal?
Fenriz: Easiest motivation: R&B '60s and what R&B became in the '90s remind me of a lot of what I've always got the black metal feeling from, and what "they" have been trying to peddle since, well, 1995-ish. Here's some explanation, but I'm just winging it as usual. Those who get it will get it, and the others can take a long walk on a short pier: Well, we had the inspiration we needed to make black metal already in early '91, meaning our inspirations came almost solely from the '80s. Seeing how press, newer clueless "scene" people, and record companies alike changed everything plastic and hyperfast into being "BM," the party had just gotten too lame to hang out at anymore. This happened for Zephyrous and Nocturno Culto already in '92, for me it happened in '94 when I didn't really like any of the new styles after that, but regardless, took responsibility for fronting the way of black metal. I still do — this week's "Band of the Week" is black metal and this year I will focus on spreading more black metal bands than usual. But playing it myself isn't what I crave at the moment.
LA Music Blog: You've been pretty outspoken about your disapproval of the book "Lords Of Chaos", but then appeared in the documentary "Until The Light Takes Us". What made you decide to be a part of the film?
Fenriz: I can't really disapprove of it if I didn't even bother to read it. Haven't you sometimes gotten a promo CD and you started to listen and you think after 14 seconds, "No," you know they got it all wrong? Well, that's the "Lords Of Chaos" book for ya. The movie that Aaron and Audrey did I did because they are cool as hell. I didn't see it yet; it's my own choice. Already in '88 I didn't like to receive my interviews back typically three months after I did them because I'd already moved on a lot in my mind about lots of the things I'd say. Now, here is a movie that was shot 10 years ago, and in addition to that, I was coming out of a depression at the time, so I'm sure you can understand I'd be uncomfortable watching it. I mean, I don't even like watching me when I'm doing funny stuff on TV here in Norway.
LA Music Blog: There is a lot happening this year in the DARKTHRONE camp, but what else do you have in store for 2011?
Fenriz: Making more compilations, always doing that, but I'm happy doing them just for other's blog pages really! WAY better than DJing: I kinda quit that, just doing one-offs now. Like the METALUCIFER show that Proxy is setting up in April here in Oslo. Kudos, Proxy. And this weekend, I attend the only festival I go to, Metal Merchants. BROCAS HELM will be playing this year. Although when I curate my "own" festival again in London this year (Mark Lewis' Live Evil festival), I prefer new bands that play old styles instead of, for instance, Germany's Keep it True that mostly has old bands that still play or have reformed. But anyway, festivals like Keep It True and Metal Merchants do more for old metal than most others, so they are all cool in my book. Then we gotta record some more songs after they are written. 2010 saw major life changes for both Ted and me, so we only did two songs that year; we need 7-8 more for a forthcoming album. But, you know, we don't wanna make any plans or anything.

"It's time for some exciting news: we're heading towards the studio in a week's time to record cover songs! Our friend and producer Benny Richter will be keeping an eye on us again and we're hyper-excited about how the results are going to sound like.
"We're not revealing the secret of which songs we will be covering exactly (yet!), but if you visited our last European winter tour you might have [seen] us performing RAMMSTEIN's 'Sonne', which will be one of the ten songs we are recording.
"Talking about the other nine songs, we chose from the very best classics and milestones of our youth, but we will also surprise you with some more current cover songs. And we promise, we're not just sticking to one genre!

SLEEZE BEEZ: Amsterdam Concert Photos, Video Footage Available
 A number of high-quality photos of reunited Dutch hard rockers SLEEZE BEEZ's February 4, 2011 headlining concert at Paradiso in Amsterdam, Holland can be found at Metal-Experience.com. Also available is fan-filmed video footage of the show. The band performed songs from its Atlantic Records release "Screwed Blued and Tattooed" (including the MTV hit "Stranger than Paradise") as well as the critically acclaimed "Insanity Beach".
SLEEZE BEEZ performed live last June for the first time since going their separate ways in 1995 (sharing the bill with AEROSMITH, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS and STEEL PANTHER at the Goffertpark in Nijmegen, Holland on June 23, 2010).
SLEEZE BEEZ' final album, "Insanity Beach" (1994), featured a rugged, hard-edged, more aggressive sound. With producer John Sonneveld back in the saddle and the band co-producing, everything was recorded in one room to catch that "live" feeling. With all members of the band involved in the writing process for the first time, the band's style and direction has taken a radical turn. SLEEZE BEEZ planned to play various festivals in Holland before embarking on a European tour, but alas the band disbanded, with vocalist Andrew Elt and guitarist Don van Spall forming the pop/rock band THE MOON and drummer Jan Koster, guitarist Chriz van Jaarsveld and bassist Ed Jongsma forming the punk/rock band JETLAND.

GARY MOORE Died Of Suspected Heart Attack
 According to Mirror.co.uk, legendary guitarist Gary Moore died of a suspected heart attack, a postmortem revealed earlier today (Monday, February 7).
Moore died in his sleep yesterday morning, hours after checking into the five-star Kempinski Hotel in Estepona on the Costa del Sol, Spain with an unnamed female friend. He was 58 years old.
While forensic experts are satisfied Moore died from natural causes, they requested further tests on tissue samples taken from his body ahead of a final report.
A Spanish police spokesman said today, "Mr. Moore died of natural causes and his death is not in any way suspicious. An investigating magistrate has opened a standard inquiry to determine the exact cause of death."
British tabloid The Sun reported earlier today — apparently erroneously — that Moore choked on his vomit after knocking back champagne and brandy before being discovered around 4 a.m.

AUTOPSY Begins Recording New Album
 Legendary San Francisco Bay Area gore grind act AUTOPSY has entered Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, California to begin recording its first full-length album since 1995's "Shitfun". Entitled "Macabre Eternal", the new CD will be released in early June on Peaceville Records. Songtitles seto appear on the LP include "Always About To Die", "Hand Of Darkness", "Spill My Blood" and "Bludgeoned And Brained".
Commented AUTOPSY drummer/vocalist Chris Reifert: "We've brewed up the sickest and heaviest material that our rotten souls could possibly spew forth, and we are confident that it's our best stuff yet. The EP was a taste of what's to come, but now it's time for the full assault from beyond the grave."
He continued, "The album will contain no repeated EP tracks, no re-recorded old songs, no triggered trickery, and nothing less than the pure death metal brutality that AUTOPSY has always delivered."
AUTOPSY had previously decided to make an official comeback after working together on two songs for the special 20th-anniversary edition of debut album, "Severed Survival", in late 2008; the band having originally split before the release of its fourth album, "Shitfun", in 1995. A five-song EP, "The Tomb Within", came out last September and saw the original trio of Chris Reifert, Danny Coralles and Eric Cutler joined on bass by Joe Trevisano (ex-ABSCESS).
"I usually cringe when I hear 'reunion' or 'reformed' or whatever," Reifert told Decibel. "It usually means people are out of ideas. We really have no interest in reliving the past. That's what was cool about the songs just coming to us instead of our trying to force it. We can't tour, and if we could, we still wouldn't want to. But as long as we enjoy recording, we're going to stay at it. It's not a one-off or a two-off or whatever. Right now, there's a lot of energy in the band, and it's not going away anytime soon. We have a few things to take care of, for sure."

Complete THIN LIZZY Sydney \'78 Film Featuring GARY MOORE Unearthed
 According to Peter Nielsen of the Thin Lizzy Guide, a complete version of THIN LIZZY's legendary1978 performance at Sydney Opera House featuring Gary Moore was recently unearthed. The person holding the footage is willing to make this available for commercial release and discussions were due to take place with interested parties in early February. The unreleased footage is completely different to the countless versions that have been released officially or otherwise over the years. The complete concert features different camera angles and extra songs.

CANNIBAL CORPSE: First \'Global Evisceration\' DVD Preview Clip Available
 Florida death metal veterans CANNIBAL CORPSE will release their fourth DVD, "Global Evisceration", on March 15 via Metal Blade Records. The set was shot and edited by director Denise Korycki (Wild Wind Productions) who also worked on the group's "Centuries of Torment - The First 20 Years" DVD in addition to releases from such other bands as AS I LAY DYING, MASTODON, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and SUPERJOINT RITUAL.
"Global Evisceration" contains one disc and is approximately three hours long with artwork by the infamous Vince Locke. The main program includes full live-song performances from two live shows: the Gothic Theater in Englewood, Colorado on May 3, 2010 and Sunshine Theater in Albuquerque, New Mexico on May 8, 2010. It also contains bonus performances and extra segments, including behind-the-scenes footage covering CANNIBAL CORPSE's tours in support of the "Evisceration Plague" album.

U.D.O. Completes Work On New Album
 U.D.O., the German metal band led by former ACCEPT frontman Udo Dirkschneider, has completed work on its new album, "REV-Raptor", for a May 20 release via AFM Records. The recordings took place between June 2010 and February 2011 at Roxx studios (owned by U.D.O. guitarist and ex-ACCEPT drummer Stefan Kaufmann) in Pulheim, Germany. The CD was mastered by Manfred Melchior at MM Sound Digital studios in Steinhagen, Germany. The album's cover artwork will once again be a comic-like motif: but the "Dominator" character will this time be "a lot more effectual and colorful," according to a press release.

Report: GARY MOORE \'Choked On His Vomit\' After \'Drinking Heavily\'
 According to The Sun, legendary guitarist Gary Moore choked on his vomit after knocking back champagne and brandy before being discovered around 4 a.m. yesterday (Sunday, February 6) by his girlfriend unconscious in their Spanish hotel room.
Medics found the 58-year-old axeman lying lifeless on his back wearing just his underpants.
An ambulance source told The Sun: "We believe the deceased had been drinking heavily."
A source at The Kempinski hotel on Spain's Costa del Sol — where suites cost up to £3,500 a night — said: "There were definite signs of alcohol in the room.
