CAVALERA CONSPIRACY Launches New Album With Special Barcelona Concert; Video, Photos
 Two months before the release of the band's new album, "Blunt Force Trauma", CAVALERA CONSPIRACY — the project featuring former SEPULTURA members Max (guitar, vocals) and Igor Cavalera (drums) — performed a unique worldwide pre-release show this past Saturday, February 5 in Barcelona, Spain at the legendary Razzmatazz venue.
Exactly 20 years after the filming of the classic SEPULTURA DVD "Under Siege -Live In Barcelona", Max and Igor came back to the same venue to kick start their new album cycle. The first video single was recorded live and media from all over Europe came to Barcelona to meet the band.

EMMURE: \'Solar Flare Homicide\' Video Released
 "Solar Flare Homicide", the new video from the New Fairfield, Connecticut- and Queens, New York-based deathcore act EMMURE, can be viewed below. The song comes off the band's new album, "Speaker Of The Dead", which is due on February 15 through Victory Records. The CD was produced by Joey Sturgis, who has previously worked with THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA and BORN OF OSIRIS, among others.

SAXON\'s New Album To Feature Guest Appearance By DEEP PURPLE Keyboardist
 British heavy metal legends SAXON are currently in the studio in Brighton, England putting the finishing touches on their new album, "Call To Arms".
A new video message from SAXON frontman Biff Byford — taped after the band invited fans to the studio to be part of a choir performing on the new song "Back In '79" — can be viewed below.
SAXON is seeking a suitable record label to release the follow-up to 2009's "Into The Labyrinth" (SPV/Steamhammer), which will feature a guest appearance by legendary keyboardist Don Airey (DEEP PURPLE, RAINBOW).
SAXON had a busy year in 2010, which included performing a blinding set at Download in June, where to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the first Monsters of Rock show, they played their legendary "Wheels of Steel" album in its entirety for the first time ever.
As is becoming an almost yearly custom for SAXON, they will perform at the 02 Shepherds Bush Empire in London on St. Georges Day, April 23, which promises to be a loud, rocking celebration of England's patron saint's day.
SAXON's last album, "Into The Labyrinth", sold around 1,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The CD debuted at No. 29 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200. NACHTBLUT Signs With NAPALM RECORDS
 German "dark metallers" NACHTBLUT have inked a deak with Napalm Records. The band's 2009 album, "Antik", will be re-released with new artwork and bonus material.
Commented the group: "It is great to be in the company of SUMMONING, LEAVES' EYES, and MONSTER MAGNET! From the start it was clear that the band and label share the same goals and ideas. We are excited about the cooperation!"
NACHTBLUT is working on material for a new album, tentatively due later in the year.

HEATHENDOM: \'The Symbolist\' Video Released
 "The Symbolist", the new video from the Greek dark power metal band HEATHENDOM, can be viewed below. The clip was produced and directed by the band's guitarists, Lefteris Vourliotis and Michail Vlavianos.
"The Symbolist" is the title track of HEATHENDOM's second full-length album, which was recently released via Metal On Metal Records. The CD can "be best described as dark, intense and haunting power metal (and power metal of U.S. and Scandinavian character)," according to a press release. "The band shed some doom elements in favor of technical thrash elements and delved even further into the horror movie soundtrack territories, incorporating classical instrumentation into their intricate, multi-layered arrangements."
HEATHENDOM will officially launch its new album live on March 13 in Athens. The show will take place at the 7 Sins club (formerly Sin City), with DISHARMONY, SOLID FAITH and X-PIRAL as the support acts.

RIGOR MORTIS To Enter Studio Next Month
 Texas thrash metal veterans RIGOR MORTIS will enter the studio next month to record their first new tracks in 20 years. The band lay down two new songs between March 6 and March 8 with longtime friend and producer Kerry Crafton (who previously worked with the group on 1991's "Vs. The Earth") and will use the recording to procure a new record deal. A new full-length album will be released before the end of the year.

 "Never Again", the new video from MASS MURDER AGENDA, the Swedish metal band featuring members of FACE DOWN, CARNAL FORGE, CONSTRUCDEAD and SEXY DEATH, can be viewed below.
MASS MURDER AGENDA was formed in the summer of 2009 by bass player Joakim Hedestedt (FACE DOWN, NATION BEYOND, ex-CONSTRUCDEAD) who wanted to "mix thrash and industrial metal with no intention at all of being original; [he] just [wanted the band to sound] aggressive enough to play live. 5 STAR GRAVE: New Album Details Revealed
 Italian metallers 5 STAR GRAVE have set "Drugstore Hell" as title of their new album, tentatively due this spring. The CD will be mixed and mastered by Tobias Lindell (EUROPE, HARDCORE SUPERSTAR, CRASHDIET, MUSTASCH) at the Bohus Sound Studios in Gothenburg, Sweden.
"Drugstore Hell" features 11 new tracks that have been described by the band as "an evolution of what we did on our previous record, 'Corpse Breed Syndrome': we're still reckless, gruesome and light-hearted, but at the same time we're heading towards a more personal, modern and rock'n'roll-injected identity".

DEVILDRIVER: Trailer For \'Beast\' Bonus DVD Available
 A trailer for the bonus DVD that will be included in the special edition of DEVILDRIVER's fifth album, "Beast", can be viewed below (courtesy of U.K.'s Kerrang! magazine). The special edition includes the band's documentary "You May Know Us From The Stage" (shot by filmmaker Daniel J. Burke, a.k.a. Bruce Wayne) and official music videos spanning DEVILDRIVER's career thus far.
"Beast" will be released on February 22 via Roadrunner Records. The CD was recorded at Sonic Ranch studios in Tornillo, Texas with producer Mark Lewis (TRIVIUM, CHIMAIRA, ALL THAT REMAINS) and was mixed by acclaimed British producer Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, EXODUS, MACHINE HEAD, NEVERMORE, ARCH ENEMY) at his Backstage studio in Derbyshire, England. The band recorded 14 songs during the "Beast" sessions, with 12 tracks making the standard version of the CD and all 14 songs appearing on the special edition.

ILL NIÑO: \'Bleed Like You\' Video Released
 "Bleed Like You", the new video from New Jersey/New York's ILL NIÑO, can be viewed below as part of episode 66 of VicTorV. (Note: The clip begins around the 44-second mark.)
"Bleed Like You" comes off ILL NIÑO's fifth album, "Dead New World", which sold around 3,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 164 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band's previous effort, "Enigma", opened with 5,000 units to land at No. 145 back in March 2008.
"Dead New World" was released on October 26, 2010 via Victory Records. The follow-up to 2008's "Enigma" was self-produced, with co-production coming from Clint Lowery (SEVENDUST) and Sahaj Ticotin (RA), and mixed by Eddie Wohl (36 CRAZYFISTS, ANTHRAX, SMILE EMPTY SOUL). The album artwork was created by Tim Butler of XIII Designs (DISTURBED, SLIPKNOT, METALLICA, SLAYER, MICHAEL JACKSON).
ILL NIÑO will embark on a European headlining tour in March. Support at all shows will come from BREED 77. The trek will include appearances at Hammerfest and the Kick Out The Jams festivals.

\'Guitar Hero\' Franchise Canceled
 According to Reuters, publisher Activision has announced that it will disband the unit that makes its "Guitar Hero" games, citing declining popularity for music-themed video games.
The "Guitar Hero" series was a series of music video games first published in 2005 by RedOctane and Harmonix Music Systems, and distributed by Activision, in which players use a guitar-shaped game controller to simulate playing lead, bass guitar, and rhythm guitar across numerous rock music songs.
The "Guitar Hero" franchise released band-centric games from AEROSMITH, METALLICA and VAN HALEN.
According to The Pulse Of Radio, Guitar Hero: Metallica had sold 1.5 million copies as of April 2010, while the VAN HALEN edition hadn't even reached 250,000 copies sold, although that had only been out since December 2009.
METALLICA's James Hetfield told The Pulse Of Radio in 2009 why his band decided to embrace the video game format. "A lot of kids that maybe wanted to play guitar, or even, especially adults that wanted to play guitar and never did, they're getting a chance to somewhat live a little bit of that in their living room or whatever it is," he said. "And it's a good way to get your music out there. With all the big record stores closing up, getting music to people, it's getting a little limiting. But there are many places, new places to explore, and one of them is Guitar Hero."
Hetfield may have been too optimistic about video games being the new way to get music to people. Other titles, like Guitar Hero V, DJ Hero, and Lego Rock Band have all more or less bombed.
Industry analyst Michael Pachter told The Wrap last year, "The issue with music games was how fast they grew. They penetrated the installed base so fast that their growth was unsustainable."

KISS ERIC SINGER: GARY MOORE \'Played Every Note Like It Was The Last Time He Would Ever Play It\'
 KISS drummer Eric Singer has released the following statement to Classic Rock Revisited regarding the passing of legendary guitarist Gary Moore:
"I had the pleasure to play drums with Gary on his 1987 'Wild Frontier' tour.
"I joined Gary's band via Bob Daisley. We had recorded together with BLACK SABBATH on the 'Eternal Idol' album. Bob arranged the audition in London in January of 1987. We soon began rehearsals for what would become one of Gary's most successful tours ever.
"I remember we would practice everyday at John Henry Studios in London. Bob and Neil Carter lived in Brighton and would have to leave in time to make their train home. Gary and I would sometimes stay on and jam. Just drums and guitar. We would play THIN LIZZY tunes or just jam endlessly as Gary never ran out of ideas when it came to soloing! He would also play those legendary guitars back then. The 'Peter Green' 1958 Les Paul and his 'Pink Salmon' 1962 Fender Stratocaster. He, of course, did not take those on tour anymore as they had become much too rare and valuable.
"I have to say the one thing that always stood out to me about Gary was his absolute passion and intensity as a guitarist. This man played every song and note like it was the last time he would ever play it. And therefore demanded and expected the same from his band.
"I have to admit he could be a bit tough on drummers. But he only asked for and expected what he himself gave to music. And that was complete commitment every time you played with him. He inspired me to want to play up to his level every night.

ZEMIAL: New 7" Single

"Realising that a delay was forthcoming for the completion of NYKTA, I suggested to Hells Headbangers that we release a 7” single in the meantime. It is symbolically titled: DUSK.
I chose two pieces: the pre-production version of “In the Arms of Hades” (which will feature certain new parts recorded for the album) and “Cries Behind the Golden Walls”. This last piece was composed in 1991, just as things were taking the direction that Zemial would follow in the coming years. It is in fact the companion to “Words from The Temple of Shadows” as they were the two new pieces that we were practising back then and the two new pieces that caused the dissolution of that 2-year line-up and turned Zemial into a one man project.
Thanks to all of you for the positive feedback; I am glad that this music is still reaching deep. A word of warning to the collectors out there: this edition will be strictly limited.
I know that there has been no update regarding NYKTA and this is as good as any time to shed some light into why. The craziness of the last half year has not allowed me to properly concentrate on finishing NYKTA. Aside from (other) music and teaching commitments, in October 2010 I began the long process of relocating my entire studio. Aside from the arduous process of sorting through the cable salad and moving all the equipment, we have had to completely renovate the new studio room and start from “scratch”. It has taken very long but we are almost done. With all installations complete and the studio up and running I will entirely focus on completing NYKTA and moving on to some other music for Zemial. This I can guarantee.
In the meantime, many thanks to all of you for being patient and I do hope that “DUSK” will at least partially satiate your thirst for new Zemial music. Good things take time.
