THE FAMINE: \'Ad Mortem\' Video Released

PAIN Putting Finishing Touches On New Album
 Swedish metallers PAIN, who are led by HYPOCRISY mainman Peter Tägtgren, are working on the follow-up to 2008's "Cynic Paradise". NIGHTWISH singer Anette Olzon, who also happens to be the girlfriend of PAIN bassist Johan Husgafvel, writes on her official blog that Tägtgren is putting the finishing touches on the new CD this week.
"The album will be out approximately in June," she says, "and so far I have listened to seven of the songs and they are really good! The new songs are more aggressive, faster tempo and also include new elements they haven't used before. A more 'dark' album in the lyrics and also in his way of singing. One song is more like HYPOCRISY, so if you like that you'll have that one as a favorite."
She adds, "When I first heard the songs I thought it was quite different from the last album and it is. The more I listen to the songs the more I like them and I think it will be a great one! I can see them do their famous headspins live to this album, too."
"Cynic Paradise", the latest album from PAIN, sold around 300 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The effort was made available in North America on June 8, 2010 via Nuclear Blast Records. The North American version of the LP features an alternate cover and a bonus live CD recorded on March 23-24, 2009 at the Zenith in Paris, France during the band's European tour with NIGHTWISH.
"Monkey Business", the latest video from PAIN, can be viewed below. The clip was shot at the band's aforementioned March 2009 shows in Paris.
"Cynic Paradise" was released in Germany in October 2008 via Nuclear Blast Records. The follow-up to "Psalms of Extinction" (which was released in 2007 via Roadrunner) features "eleven gems offering a vast variety of styles and influences which are even new for PAIN," according to a press release. Olzon makes a guest appearance on two tracks — "Follow Me" and "Feed Us". The artwork was created by renowned artist Travis Smith (AMORPHIS, OPETH, NEVERMORE).

MERCENARY: Another New Song Available For Streaming
 Danish melodic death metallers MERCENARY will release their sixth album, "Metamorphosis", in North America on March 29 via Prosthetic Records. The North American version of the CD will feature the exclusive bonus track, "Incorporate Your Demons".
"Metamorphosis" will be made available in Europe on February 25 via NoiseArt Records. The CD was produced by Jacob Hansen (RAUNCHY, VOLBEAT, NIGHTRAGE, HATESPHERE, PYRAMAZE).
A track-by-track breakdown of the album by singer René Pedersen and guitarist Jakob Mølbjerg can be found at the web site of the German edition of Metal Hammer magazine.

DIVINEFIRE: \'Eye Of The Storm\' Trailer Released
 DIVINEFIRE, the melodic metal band led by guitarist and composer Jani Stefanovic, will release its fifth studio album, "Eye Of The Storm", on March 25 via Liljegren Records.

KING GIANT: \'Solace\' Video Released
 Pimmit Hills, Virginia-based doomsters KING GIANT have just unveiled their new performance-based video. The second clip from their 2009-released "Southern Darkness" full-length, this brand new visual portrayal of the track "Solace" was filmed at Washington D.C.'s infamous 9:30 Club, and features the band boasting their soulful Southern rock in a thunderous live setting. The video was produced by Kevin Barker and Double Kick Productions, who also helmed the first video from "Southern Darkness", for the track "13 To 1", released last September.
After self-releasing "Southern Darkness" in mid-2009, KING GIANT has now announced the 12-inch vinyl version of the LP. Also being self-released by the band, via their own Graveyard Hill Records imprint, the massive album is available in two color schemes (oxblood, and oxblood with gold/silver splatter), both pressed on quality 180-gram wax, bound in a deluxe gatefold setup, and including a free digital download card of the album as well.
KING GIANT will enter the studio in March to begin recording its new album, "Dismal Hollow", for a summer release. The band played at the State Theatre in Falls Church, Virginia last week where it previewed a bit of the new material for the first time, and was actually joined on stage by doom legend Victor Griffin (PENTAGRAM, PLACE OF SKULLS) for a cover version of LYNYRD SKYNYRD's "The Needle And The Spoon".

 Joey Jordison (MURDERDOLLS, ROB ZOMBIE, SLIPKNOT) was recently interviewed by Andrew Haug of Triple J's "The Racket" (which airs in Australia). It's definitely been a regrouping. We need to do this, and the people need it, and we're coming back. It's something that you definitely need to see. And everything is great in SLIPKNOT; we had a great band meeting, and everything is on the up-and-up, and we're ready to come back. And it's happening quickly."

 "The Stench Of Your Faith", the new video from Costa Rica-based metallers ADVENT OF BEDLAM (formerly DECEMBER'S COLD WINTER), can be viewed below. The clip shot by Lunas Films Inc. and edited by Andres Carrillo from Pandemonium TV based on the band's proposed concept.
"The Stench Of Your Faith" comes off ADVENT OF BEDLAM's latest album, "Behold The Chaos", which was recorded at Cavan Studio with producer Max Gutierrez while the artwork was created by Alex Hoffman of Cypher Visual (BEHEMOTH, PSYCROPTIC, SUFFOCATION, ARSIS, BENEATH THE MASSACRE). BAD COMPANY PAUL RODGERS Pays Tribute To GARY MOORE
 Paul Rodgers (BAD COMPANY, FREE, QUEEN + PAUL RODGERS) has released the following statement regarding the passing of legendary guitarist Gary Moore:
"Gary was a friend and a truly great man. I respect that he played the game his way... no time for B.S. He was focused and passionate about music and was one of the best.
"The last time that I jammed with Gary, he came on as my special guest at London's Royal Albert Hall and proceeded to take it to another level... the place imploded! When he played, he was a man on fire.
"If there hadn't been an ocean between us and Gary didn't mind flying, we absolutely would have created more together.
"We've lost a great British blues man and I am very, very sad."
According to Mirror.co.uk, Moore died of a suspected heart attack, a postmortem revealed yesterday (Monday, February 7).

The "Live At Radio City Music Hall" DVD has sold 59,000 copies in the United States since its August 2007 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

CEREBELLION: \'Not The Final Destination\' Video Released
 "Not The Final Destination", the new video from Orange County, California's CEREBELLION, can be viewed below. The clip was filmed in Yorba Linda, California at CEREBELLION's studio with director Anthony Rico and crew. The idea behind the video was to "capture the energy and excitement of our live show," states vocalist Joe Arnold. Vying not to go with the standard live footage video, "we felt we could create something more interesting visually while still maintaining that raw, down and dirty feel," continues Joe.
"Not The Final Destination" is the first single from CEREBELLION's "genre-bending" debut album, "Inalienable", which has been extremely well received by fans and critics alike. Several songs have consistently been voted into top positions on MTV's Ourstage.com monthly competition, including a #1 metal hit with "Undeniable". It was also a featured metal album on iTunes' "New and Noteworthy." Critics have compared the band's sound to TOOL, METALLICA, ALICE IN CHAINS and MACHINE HEAD. In addition, there is an obvious flamenco/Latin influence to the likes of THE GYPSY KINGS and SANTANA on the tracks "Undeniable" and "Inalienable", with allusions to the larger world music scene on "Coexisting". And while all of that is apparent upon listening, the approach to the wide diversity and flow of "Inalienable" can be pointed to the classic albums of LED ZEPPELIN and BLACK SABBATH from the early to mid-'70s.

RAINBOW: \'Rising\' Deluxe Edition Detailed
 Universal Music Enterprises will release a "deluxe" edition of RAINBOW's classic album "Rising" on February 28 in the U.K. and March 8 in North America.
"Rising" (also known as "Rainbow Rising") was released in 1976, with founding member/guitarist Ritchie Blackmore (ex-DEEP PURPLE) retaining only Ronnie James Dio (ex-ELF) from the band's debut album, "Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow". Ritchie recruited keyboard player Tony Carey, bassist Jimmy Bain and drummer Cozy Powell (ex-JEFF BECK) to complete the new lineup. Recorded in Munich, Germany in less than a month, "Rising" was overseen by DEEP PURPLE engineer and noted rock producer Martin Birch, who would later find success with BLACK SABBATH, IRON MAIDEN, WHITESNAKE and BLUE ÖYSTER CULT.
"Rising" marked Dio's first work with bassist Jimmy Bain; Bain would later play bass in Dio's solo band.

ROBERT PLANT To Release \'Harm\'s Swift Way\' Single
 Legendary LED ZEPPELIN singer Robert Plant will release "Harm's Swift Way", the latest single from his album "Band Of Joy" on February 28 via Decca Records. Plant's version of the track — originally written and performed by the late, great country folker Townes Van Zandt (1944-1997) — is a driving, plaintive slice of Southern soul, featuring backing vocals from Patty Griffin. A digital bundle with a live version of "Harm's Swift Way" and "Band Of Joy" album track "Monkey" (originally by LOW) — both taken from Plant's show at London's Forum last autumn — will be available.
Robert Plant has been nominated in the "British Male Solo Artist" category at this year's Brit Awards (the British equivalent of the Grammy Awards). The winners will be announced at the O2 Arena in London, England on February 15.
"Band of Joy", the new album from Robert Plant and BAND OF JOY, sold 49,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 5 on The Billboard 200 chart.
Plant's first release since recording the six-time Grammy-winning bluegrass album "Raising Sand" with collaborator Alison Krauss in 2007, the "Band of Joy" CD enlists the help of an array of U.S. musicians, all of whom are performing with Plant on tour.

QUEEN\'s ROGER TAYLOR On GARY MOORE: \'His Music Will Live On\'
 QUEEN drummer Roger Taylor has released the following statement to U.K.'s Classic Rock magazine regarding the passing of legendary guitarist Gary Moore:
"It was my wife who told me the news. It's terrible: 58 is just too early. In Phil [Lynott]'s case it was tragic, and in Gary's case there should have been a lot more years.
"I have great memories of Gary on tour in THIN LIZZY with QUEEN: always smiling, very cheerful and… too young to die. He'd recently joined LIZZY and he fitted in great: a blindingly fast player, and his thing was these staccato runs, with a bit of jazz in there. Totally different to Brian [May], who's a very fluid player, but musicians usually 'get' other rated musicians, and Brian very much enjoyed his playing.
"Over the years, I'd see Gary out in the clubs: a great guy on the scene. He liked to drink, as I remember, but everybody did in those days.
"It's very sad. But I think his music will live on.
"Virtuosity is something we really don't have now: there are lots of great bands, but the emphasis just isn't on that anymore. In those days, it was all about how great you were; there were so many virtuosos and he was definitely one of them. He was a star player."

OZZY OSBOURNE On GARY MOORE: \'We\'ve Lost A Phenomenal Musician And A Great Friend\'

"I knew Gary Moore for what seemed like forever. We'd run into each other many times over the years and we were always able to pick up right where we left off.

"To say that his death is a tragic loss doesn't seem to give it the justice it deserves. We've lost a phenomenal musician and a great friend.

ROB ZOMBIE To Induct ALICE COOPER Into ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME
 Rocker-turned-filmmaker Rob Zombie will induct Alice Cooper into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame on March 14 at New York City's Waldorf Astoria Hotel. The ceremony will be aired live on the Fuse channel.
Rob Zombie and Alice Cooper took part in the Halloween Hootenanny tour last fall. The trek followed a short run the pair did together last summer. Zombie shared with The Pulse of Radio some inside info on what Alice likes to get up to while out on tour. "Here's the thing: he loves to shop, so he's always shopping," Rob told The Pulse of Radio. "So every day he would show up at the gig with a new gift for me. First day he came back with a, it's a little pig that when you turn it on it rolls around on the floor laughing hysterically like it can't breathe. And then the next day he brought me a VANILLA ICE tour shirt. Which I don't think he thought I would wear, so of course I wore it the next day to the meet-and-greet we did together just to prove a point."
Alice Cooper admitted that he was always confident that the Hall Of Fame honor would come his way, telling Billboard, "I've always felt the same way about this whole thing. I kind of sat back and said, 'It will happen eventually.' It did get to be kind of a joke, not being nominated. I got to the point where I was saying, 'OK, I'm the Pete Rose of rock n' roll!' So now that it's a reality, it's a different take on it. Now I sit there and go, 'Wow. Wow! We've got to really get up and play, and assume the position of being in the Hall of Fame.' It'll be great."
Cooper told Rolling Stone that he'll be performing with the original ALICE COOPER band at the Rock Hall induction, saying, "We're trying to figure out if we do 'School's Out', do we send balloons of confetti into the audience? I doubt there'll be a snake there though. . . If you look at the list of past inductees it's all of my heroes, from Pete Townshend to THE YARDBIRDS to THE BEATLES to the STONES. It's everybody that we listened to in order to become Alice Cooper, so it's pretty amazing that those are the same people that actually voted for us."
Alice Cooper told The Pulse Of Radio a while back that at the end of the day whether he was in the Rock Hall or not didn't seem to bug him much. "I've kinda put it in my head that if it happens, it happens, if it doesn't — the longer it goes, the more obvious it is that I'm not in it, and 99 percent of the people in the world think I'm in it anyways — even people on the board that vote on it," he said. "Toby (Mamis, Cooper's manager) talked to one of the guys and he says, 'Y'know, what is this thing with Alice? Is there a blackball or something on Alice?' And the guy said, 'What are you talking about? Alice is in the Hall Of Fame.' And he (Mamis) said, 'No, he isn't.' He (the Hall Of Fame rep) said, 'He's not?!' I think people assume that I am."

AEROSMITH Music Sales Up 250% Since STEVEN TYLER Became Judge On \'Idol\'
 According to The Hollywood Reporter, sales of AEROSMITH's greatest-hits collections have increased more than 250 percent as a result of Steven Tyler's appearance on "American Idol" as a judge for the show's tenth season. The band's 1994 compilation "Big Ones", saw increased sales of 260 percent after the show's January 19 premiere. Meanwhile, 2004's "Devil's Got a New Disguise: The Very Best of Aerosmith", got a 146 percent boost after week 2 of "Idol". Two more greatest-hits collections registered surges of 137 percent and 147 percent. Likewise, AEROSMITH's "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" single was downloaded 34,000 times for the week ending January 30, an increase of 363 percent. The band's 1973 hit "Dream On" saw 26,000 downloads, which represented a 318 percent spike over the week before.
AEROSMITH bassist Tom Hamilton recently told the Boston Herald that Tyler believes he has the time and energy to continue fronting the band while also being a judge on "American Idol". Hamilton explained, "Steven's been very emphatic in saying that the way his time is arranged on the show leaves room to work on a record. He's been taking great pains to remind everybody of that, so hopefully that's the way it will come out."
Yet Hamilton also admitted that things could change, saying, "There's a lot of not knowing what's going to happen, but that's how it's always been for us . . . Steven is an incredible I-can-do-anything kind of guy. But he's taken a big bite, and I'm looking forward to seeing him chew it."
Hamilton said he'd never watched "American Idol" and that the band found out about Tyler's involvement from its management. Guitarist Joe Perry voiced his displeasure in public, calling the program "one step above ('Teenage Mutant') 'Ninja Turtles'."
