HADES: 'Re-United And Re-Ignited' DVD Available
 Reunited '80s/'90s metallers HADES will release their second DVD, entitled "Re-United And Re-Ignited", featuring footage of the band's April 2010 reunion concert in Clifton, New Jersey. Produced by Jay Bones for Viking Digital, the DVD features the entire set by HADES from that evening. The setlist is primarily made up of songs off the band's first two CDs, "Resisting Success" and "If At First You Don't Succeed". The DVD also includes an intro by Don Jamieson from "That Metal Show" as well as seven songs from the NON-FICTION reunion show that was filmed a few months prior to the HADES concert. Bonus footage includes HADES rehearsing.
Commented HADES guitarist Dan Lorenzo: "EVERY major label was begging to release this DVD, but WE turned THEM down.
"No, not really. We did get some distributors who told us to print up copies and then ship the DVDs to them and then we could wait by the mailbox for them to mail us money... but we all know how that would turn out. The distributor would sell a few copies and NEVER pay us. So fuck them. We'll just release it ourselves."
The DVD will only be available directly from the band at DanLorenzo.net (under "Merch") as well as HADES' next show, which is scheduled for Saturday March 26 at Dingbatz in Clifton, New Jersey.
As previously reported, Lorenzo will take part in a live in-studio interview on Wednesday, February 9 at 5:00 p.m. EST on 89.5 FM WSOU Seton Hall's Pirate Radio with DJ Omar Ahmad. Joining Dan in the studio will be former NON-FICTION bassist Kevin Bolembach, who will perform with HADES on March 26 at Dingbatz.

FIREWIND Guitarist GUS G. On GARY MOORE: \'We\'ve Lost One Of The Greats\'
 OZZY OSBOURNE/FIREWIND guitarist Gus G. (real name: Kostas Karamitroudis) has released the following statement regarding the passing of former THIN LIZZY guitarist, noted session player, and blues rock icon Gary Moore:
"I'm very saddened by Gary Moore's passing. We've lost one of the greats.
His guitar style has heavily influenced me and I was lucky enough to see him live when he played in Greece for the first time back in 2008. I don't think I've ever heard more soulful playing and tone than Gary's.

SAXON Members Pay Tribute To GARY MOORE
 SAXON members Biff Byford (vocals) and Doug Scarratt (guitar) have released the following separate statements to U.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine regarding the passing of legendary guitarist Gary Moore:
Biff Byford : "It's really sad.
"We knew Gary from back in the '80s. We went to a few of his album recording sessions back then. Him and Michael Schenker and Paul [Quinn, SAXON guitarist] were quite close back then, so we'd go to their sessions and they'd come to ours.
"We lost connection with him a bit when he started doing the blues thing, but during his metal period we knew him well.
"His guitar playing was always incredible. His tone, in particular, was really something.
"I hung out with him and Phil Lynott at Stringfellows once! It was quite a messy evening, even though I didn't drink at the time. It wasn't a lap-dancing club back then. You had dinner upstairs and then downstairs was the disco, and it was full of fashion models and B-list film stars, and I was there with Gary and Phil Lynott! That was quite an experience! But it's very sad to lose Gary. He'll be greatly missed."
Doug Scarratt: "In my memory of guitar gigs, Gary Moore really stands out. I was a fan from back in the THIN LIZZY days. A friend of mine had a ticket for one of his solo shows and I nearly didn't bother going, but I'm glad I did! It stays in my memory as one of the best guitar gigs I've ever seen. It was at the crossover point when he'd just started doing the blues stuff, and 'Still Got The Blues' was out, but he was still playing 'Parisienne Walkways' and 'The Loner' and all the big rock hits. His playing was just so emotional. It was mind-blowing." | 0 | |

NIGHTWISH Reveals Concept For Next Album
 In the midst of recording a new album, Finnish/Swedish symphonic metallers NIGHTWISH have been preparing a movie.
"Imaginarium" is a music fantasy film based on the forthcoming NIGHTWISH album of the same title and its 13 songs.
The protagonist of the film is a songwriter with an otherworldly imagination. He is an old man who still thinks he's a young boy. While asleep he travels into his distant past where his dreams of old come back to him mixed to the young boy's world of fantasy and music.
In his dreams the old man fights to find the memories most important to him.
This never-done-before project originates to more than two years in the past when NIGHTWISH keyboardist and main songwriter Tuomas Holopainen first introduced his ambitious idea of the "Imaginarium" concept to the fellow band members and to Stobe Harju, the director behind "The Islander" music video. He will be the director of this full-length feature. The film will be produced by Solar Films Inc. along with NIGHTWISH.
The "Imaginarium" filming will begin this spring and it will have its premiere in 2012.
NIGHTWISH will hold a press conference related to this project at the end of February.

METALLICA\'s KIRK HAMMETT Remembers GARY MOORE
 Days after the news came down that legendary guitarist Gary Moore died, METALLICA's Kirk Hammett called RollingStone.com from his home in Hawaii to talk about his guitar idol. An excerpt from his remembrance follows below.
"Gary Moore is definitely in my list of top five guitar influences, right up with Jimi Hendrix, Eddie Van Halen, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Michael Schenker. His influence is strong to the point that the opening lick of the guitar solo of 'Master of Puppets' is a variation of a lick that Gary Moore played a lot. I remember the first time hearing his blues album and just getting totally blown away — not only by the playing but by the sound of it too, his tone. And I remember being so inspired that I wrote a couple riffs just based on his sound and his feel. And those riffs ended up in 'The Unforgiven' on 'The Black Album'.
"I first heard of him in the late 1970s. I was a big THIN LIZZY fan then. I had seen them on the 'Dangerous' tour and not long afterwards I heard there was a new album out called 'Black Rose'. I heard 'Waiting For An Alibi' on a college radio station and I was amazed because I instantly knew that they had a different guitar player. That was not Brian Robertson playing or Scott Gorham playing that guitar solo. It was…something else. I went to the record store and picking up 'Black Rose', looked at the cover, turned it over and saw a guitar player named Gary Moore."

EUROPE: London Show To Be Filmed For DVD/Blu-Ray Release
 Swedish hard rockers EUROPE will film the entirety of their London O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire concert on Saturday, February 19. The show will be released on DVD and Blu-ray in October 2011, and will also include a bonus live CD.
The London concert is part of EUROPE's "Balls 'N' Banners" U.K. tour which kicks off at the Glasgow O2 ABC on Thursday, February 17. The forthcoming DVD release will also include behind-the-scenes footage, including rehearsals and backstage banter filmed during the rest of the dates on the rest of the U.K. tour. EUROPE will perform music from its current album, "Last Look At Eden", plus classic tracks from their albums "Wings of Tomorrow", "The Final Countdown", "Out Of This World", "Prisoners In Paradise", "Start From The Dark" and "Secret Society".
"We're taking some new directions with our songs, and we're exploring different styles," says EUROPE's lead singer Joey Tempest about the songs from the "Eden" album. "There is a definite classic rock vibe on some of the tracks... a tip of the hat to groovin', funkin' '70s rock songs, but ones we have bought into the here and now."

FEAR FACTORY To Begin Writing \'Full-On Concept\' Album
 Metal Mark of SkullsNBones.com conducted an interview with vocalist Burton C. Bell of Los Angeles cyber metallers FEAR FACTORY during the 70000 Tons Of Metal cruise — which set sail from Miami, Florida to Cozumel, Mexico on January 24 and returned four days later. You can now watch the chat below.
When asked about FEAR FACTORY's plans to go into the studio to record the follow-up to last year's "Mechanize", Bell said, "We're gonna kind of take a break a little bit, but we're definitely going into the studio at some point and start writing. We wanna take our time doing it. Personally... 'Mechanize', don't get me wrong, is a good record — I'm very proud of it — but it's gotta be better than that. I've got plans where I'd like to do a full-on concept again — story, artwork. Just make it real cerebral. But there'll definitely be another FEAR FACTORY record, maybe in 2012."
FEAR FACTORY in December completed "The Industrial Discipline Tour" of Europe with HIGH ON FIRE.

PEGAZUS: Fourth New Audio Sample Released
 An audio sample of the new song "Old Skool Metal Dayz" from Australian metallers PEGAZUS is available for streaming on the band's MySpace page. The track comes off the group's first studio album in nine years, "In Metal We Trust", which will be released on April 15 through Black Leather Records (with distribution from Twilight Vertrieb). DARK TRANQUILLITY, SOILWORK, DREAM EVIL Members To Guest On New SHADOWSIDE Album
 Mikael Stanne (DARK TRANQUILLITY), Björn "Speed" Strid (SOILWORK) and Niklas Isfeldt (DREAM EVIL) recently stopped by Fredman Studio in Gothenburg, Sweden to lay down guest vocals on "Inner Monster Out", a track that will appear on the forthcoming third album from Brazilian female-fronted metallers SHADOWSIDE.
SHADOWSIDE members Dani Nolden (vocals), Raphael Mattos (guitar), Ricardo Piccoli (bass) and Fabio Buitvidas (drums) have completed all the recordings and are currently putting the finishing touches on the new CD, which is being produced by Fredrik Nordström, who has previously worked with AT THE GATES, IN FLAMES, DARK TRANQUILLITY, ARCH ENEMY, SOILWORK and BRING ME THE HORIZON, among others. The album will feature the song "Gag Order", which the band debuted during its recent two-month European tour as the support act for W.A.S.P. A June 7 release via SHP Records is expected.
SHADOWSIDE's tour with W.A.S.P lasted nearly two months, hitting such countries as Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, Hungary, Poland, Lithuania and Estonia.
SHADOWSIDE's second album, "Dare to Dream", was produced and mixed by Dave Schiffman (RED HOT CHILLI PEPPERS, SYSTEM OF A DOWN, AUDIOSLAVE, AVENGED SEVENFOLD) and mastered by Howie Weinberg, whose client list includes several gold- and platinum-selling artists, such as AEROSMITH, IRON MAIDEN, METALLICA, PANTERA and RUSH.

MICHAEL MONROE: New Album Cover Artwork Unveiled
 Michael Monroe, iconic rock 'n' roll frontman and founding member of hugely influential Finnish outfit HANOI ROCKS, will release his new solo album, "Sensory Overdrive", on March 14 via Universal Music subsidiary Spinefarm Records. The CD features guest appearances by MOTÖRHEAD's Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister and three-time Grammy-winning country/folk singer-songwriter Lucinda Williams.
"Sensory Overdrive" was recorded in Los Angeles with legendary producer Jack Douglas, who has previously worked with AEROSMITH, JOHN LENNON, CLUTCH, SLASH'S SNAKEPIT and NEW YORK DOLLS, among many others.
The first single from the album, "'78" (a homage to a year of great music and significant cultural happenings), will be available on February 21 on both digital download and colored vinyl complete with exclusive extra track.

"Gary Moore was one of the greats. He had his roots in the blues and the power of rock, which is a brilliant combination.
"I have played with some of the best guitarists in the business, and when asked if wanted to do a project with someone else, I always said, 'Gary Moore.'
"Maybe it's little known, but I am a guitarist myself. I became a singer by pure accident. So I can really appreciate Gary's playing from a musician's point of view. He was an amazing talent and let's not forget his voice, which was pure and honest like his playing.
"I had the great fortune to meet Gary while in Denmark during the RAINBOW days. He was a great guy and very down to earth, which is impressive, to say the least.

CRIMFALL: New Album Details Revealed
 Finnish folk metalers CRIMFALL will release their sophomore album, "The Writ Of Sword", on March 23 via Spinefarm Records. The CD was recorded at Adamantium Studios and was produced and mixed by Hit Happens. It features guest appearances by Tapio Wilska (SURVIORS ZERO), Ville Sorvali (MOONSORROW), Mathias "Vreth" Lillmåns (FINNTROLL, CHTHONIAN, DECOMPOSTER), Mathias Nygård (TURISAS), Olli Vänskä (TURISAS) and Trollhorn (FINNTROLL, MOONSORROW). "In 1988 we were on tour with WHITESNAKE and I became pretty good friends with [then-WHITESNAKE guitarist] Vivian Campbell. We used to jam alot before shows and stuff. One night before the show I told him I really loved his live solo and could he show me what he was doing. He showed me the riff and said, 'All I do is play this one riff, but I play it all over the neck and it makes it sound like I am playing something different, but I am not.' Then he said, 'And one more thing, I stole the riff from Gary Moore.'

THE BURNING Parts Ways With Bassist, Seeks Replacement

The band explains, "Thue has been struggling with tinnitus for a while, and, unfortunately, it has only been getting worse, and his doctor now advises him to quit music altogether. We are very sad to see him go, and we hope he will get better soon.

 Guitarist Ralph Santolla (OBITUARY, DEICIDE, DEATH, ICED EARTH) has released the following statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET regarding the passing of legendary axeman Gary Moore:
"Once again, the world has lost a unique voice, a major talent.
"If it wasn't for Gary Moore, my life would have been very different.
"Three guys — Gary, Randy Rhoads and Michael Schenker — guided my decision to play guitar no matter what happened. I discovered Uli [Jon Roth] after I had already made that decision.
"I remember the first time I heard Gary. I bought 'Corridors Of Power' one night just as the record store was closing. The next morning I put it on the turntable while I was getting ready for school. The first notes of 'Falling In Love With You' came on while I was brushing my teeth, and I'll remember that moment forever — just a few simple notes, but with the power of the Gods behind them. It changed my life.
"Every time I record something, I compare it to Uli, Schenker, Randy and Gary, and I ask myself, "Is it as good as your heroes?' So far, I haven't even come close.
"God bless Gary Moore, may he rest in peace."

SLEEPY HOLLOW Signs With PURE STEEL RECORDS
 Reunited heavy metal band SLEEPY HOLLOW has inked a three-album deal with Pure Steel Records. The band's new LP, "Skull Thirteen", will be made available in May on vinyl through High Roller Records, to be followed by the physical CD release in the fall via Pure Steel.
Commented vocalist Bob Mitchell: "With the band now being signed, it just solidifies our reunion and it lends credibility to our return to the metal world. We thank our fans for the years of support, even though we have been away for all of these years. We thank you for waiting."
A tour of Europe, as a support act, is on tap for 2012, including an appearance at the Swordbrothers Festival in Andernach, Germany.

SYSTEM OF A DOWN Completes First Rehearsal In Five Years
 According to SYSTEM OF A DOWN bassist Shavo Odadjian, the band completed its "first rehearsal in five years" on Tuesday, February 8. Writing on his Twitter profile, Shavo went on to call the experience "amazing," before adding, "I love my band."
SYSTEM OF A DOWN officially announced its return on November 29, 2010, with the band confirming that it will headline or co-headline several prominent European festivals this summer. A dozen or so gigs across Europe have been announced, with North American tour plans yet to be confirmed.
Odadjian told The Pulse of Radio a while back that he could never envision SYSTEM OF A DOWN going away permanently. "We're brothers, man, we'll take bullets for each other," he said. "So it's like, you kind of miss each other after a while and you, one guy makes the first move, then another starts making phone calls....this is a juggernaut, man. SYSTEM OF A DOWN is my lifeline. It'll never go away. We could not make a record for 10 years — that's not gonna happen, but I'm just saying we could — and we'll come back strong."

SINNER Is Back With New Album, Lineup
 German heavy rockers SINNER are back with a new studio album and a revamped lineup. Joining mainman Mat Sinner (PRIMAL FEAR) and guitarist Christof Leim (THE NEW BLACK) in the group's latest incarnation are Alex Scholpp (TARJA, FARMER BOYS) on guitar, André Hilgers (RAGE) on drums and Alex Beyrodt (PRIMAL FEAR, VOODOO CIRCLE) on third guitar.
SINNER is currently recording its new album, "One Bullet Left", in Stuttgart, Germany with Mat Sinner producing and Achim Köhler engineering. A September 9 release via AFM Records is expected. A single and video, "Back On Trail", will precede the full-length CD in early August.

BECOMING THE ARCHETYPE: \'Celestial Completion\' Artwork Unveiled
 Atlanta, Georgia-based metallers BECOMING THE ARCHETYPE will release their fourth album, "Celestial Completion", on March 29 via Solid State Records. The CD was produced by Matt Goldman (UNDEROATH, THE CHARIOT, COPELAND) and contains 11 tracks. The cover artwork can be viewed below.
Solid State art director Ryan Clark had this to say regarding the cover: "For 'Celestial Completion' we called upon the incredibly talented Dan Seagrave, who had also created the artwork for BECOMING THE ARCHETYPE's debut album, 'Terminate Damnation'. For us, this was a bit of a 'return to the roots.'
"Dan never ceases to amaze with every piece that he creates, and unlike most fine artists, is friendly, easy to work with, accepting of direction, and best of all, on time."
"Celestial Completion" is a wildly ferocious, relentlessly creative and breathtakingly risky album that will redefine BECOMING THE ARCHETYPE for fans, skeptics and critics alike. Like the bandmembers themselves, the album is uncompromisingly metal, yet unafraid to show a sense of playfulness as it pushes the limits of heavy music to the very breaking point. There are horns. There is Middle Eastern sitar. There is a choir of sopranos. Needless to say, paint-by-numbers metal this is not. But one bone-crushingly heavy, imaginative tour de force it certainly is.
Speaking of the band's sense of musical adventure, guitarist/keyboardist/vocalist "Count" Seth Hecox says, "Everyone should know that we have championed a great juxtaposition between heavy music and world music on 'Celestial Completion'. Complete with BECOMING THE ARCHETYPE-patent keyboards, epic riffs and Jason Wisdom's incredible lead vocals, all the elements of great music are firing on all cylinders."

EXILIA: New Album Title, Artwork Unveiled
 Milan, Italy-based rock/metal act EXILIA will release its fifth studio album, "Decode", at the end of May. The band's vocalist, Masha Mysmane, who is well respected for her lyrical content, dramatic and energetic live performances, describes the new music as "something real, something that cannot be contained in a commercial box."
"Music is my way to express myself and I get inspired by many music styles, writing and combining different genres to find the right code to decypher the sound I hear in my head," she says. "I can't put any limits to it, our music is universal and does not belong to any system."
"Decode" will contain 12 songs that "will take the band's music and lyrics one step forward," according to a press release.
EXILIA's latest album, "My Own Army", was released in February 2009 via AFM Records. The CD was recorded at Principal Studios in Ottmarsbocholt (near Münster), Germany.

HELLYEAH: \'Better Man\' Video Released
 "Better Man", the new video from the metal juggernaut known as HELLYEAH — featuring Vinnie Paul Abbott (PANTERA, DAMAGEPLAN), Chad Gray and Greg Tribbett (MUDVAYNE), Tom Maxwell (NOTHINGFACE) and Bob "Zilla" Kakaha (DAMAGEPLAN) — can be viewed below. The song comes off the band's sophomore album, "Stampede", which sold 28,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 8 on The Billboard 200 chart.

BLUT AUS NORD To Release \'777 - Sect(s)\' In April
 France's BLUT AUS NORD will release their new album, "777 - Sect(s)" , on April 19 (one day earlier internationally) via Debemur Morti Productions.
Originating in 1994 from the ashes of VLAD (who released two demos), BLUT AUS NORD are undisputable French black metal pioneers, always managing to progress and move forward, evolving in perpetual mutation, developing their own vision of black metal. Choosing, from the start, the total opposite path of regressive bands (who copy what others have done ten years earlier and ten times better), BLUT AUS NORD eschews all the inherent clichés belonging to the genre.
BLUT AUS NORD's black metal approach is a fist in the face of mainstream mediocrity, becoming more macabre and sinister through a blend of innovative musical research, subliminal mental manipulation, and an incredible haunted, nightmarish feeling based on disharmony. SAXON Offers Fans Chance To Appear On New Album
 British heavy metal legends SAXON are currently in the studio in Brighton, England putting the finishing touches on their new album.
If any SAXON fans live nearby or if they can get to the studio tomorrow night (Thursday, February 10) at 8 p.m. U.K. time, the band needs a choir for one of the songs, called "Back In '79".
