KISS - New Album Due \"Mid-2011\"
 Cynthia Martin from Yahoo! is reporting:
Being a prolific and talented drummer didn't prepare Singer for all the work it would take to be in KISS - not that he is complaining. "Being in KISS is such a responsibility. Not so much with the work involved, but with the daily stuff - working on the makeup and the two hours it takes to get ready, and all these shoots and meet-and-greets and interviews before the shows. I mean, it's just really steady work being in this band. It's not like when I'm in another band where I just get to sit backstage in a pair of jeans and a T-shirt and being like, 'Okay, we're playing in 20 minutes,' and just get up and play."
Singer is grateful for the chance to be a part of rock 'n' roll history, and to work with these iconic mentors. "I get to work with great people who I've learned a lot from and who I've learned the most from. I've learned that hard work pays off. You need to have that kind of attitude, because I've seen how hard you can fall. And you need to stay focused. And that's why we're successful. Aside from all the special effects and stuff, the men behind the masks really have the work ethic and a sturdy kind of focus. And if it wasn't there, you and I wouldn't be talking right now."
With their Hottest Show on Earth tour wrapping in October, KISS is headed back to the studio to create their next musical masterpiece. Due to hit stores mid-2011, and with a tour to follow, their new album is sure to stun and surprise - in true KISS fashion.

BRUCE LAMONT: New Solo Album Details Revealed
 Details on the upcoming solo album from Bruce Lamont are beginning to ooze forth as the album nears release. The first solo album from the YAKUZA frontman will be made available worldwide via the brutally eclectic At A Loss Recordings on Tuesday, January 25, 2011.
"I began working on solo material in early 2006," states Lamont, on the inspiration behind the album. "I wanted to delve further into creating music without limits or boundaries, devoid of predicable twists and turns which is simply a reflection of personality, while challenging my own mind and beliefs." Entitled "Feral Songs For The Epic Decline", the diverse album bears seven tracks Lamont himself envisioned and created utilizing an arsenal of instruments including reeds, saxophones, guitars, moog synths, contact mics, percussion and more, as well as incorporating a multitude of vocal styles, looping tones and creating post-doom/metal elements infiltrated with everything from grating noise to cerebral soundscapes. "I enjoy melody." he continues. "Not in a formulaic sense though. I have more of a desire to move beyond melody, syncopated rhythms, creating moods and textures, pushing voice and instruments into an unconventional realm, allowing my subconscious to dictate the flow of ideas, living and reveling in the moment."

Four tracks from "Feral Songs For The Epic Decline" were recorded with the infamous Sanford Parker in 2007, and the other three tracks recorded in May of this year, again with Parker, culminating four years of heavy writing and dedication from Lamont, while juggling countless other musical ventures he's invested his life to. Most widely recognized for his saxophone and vocal work fronting Chicago mindwarp metallers YAKUZA, Bruce Lamont has also contributed to a plethora of other projects including BLOODIEST (featuring members of 90 DAY MEN, STERLING), CIRCLE OF ANIMALS (with Sanford Parker, MINSK/THE HIGH CONFESSIONS), Sick Gazelle (with Eric Block and Sanford Parker) and even LED ZEPPELIN II, a nationally touring mainstream LED ZEP cover act in which Lamont immaculately plays the part of Robert Plant! CRADLE OF FILTH To Resume Work On Orchestral Album Next Month
 British extreme metallers CRADLE OF FILTH will return to the studio in December to resume work on their next project, an orchestral album titled "Midnight In The Labyrinth", which, according to vocalist Dani "Filth" Davey, will "reinvent" tracks from the band's first four albums and include "full soundtrack-quality stuff... with choirs, strings and some narration." A studio date of December 5 has been set for "big choirs to be added to the haunting melee," Filth writes in his latest online update. "All songs will be fully orchestrated akin to a horror movie soundtrack (think Danny Elfman, John Williams, Christopher Young, etc.) and are comprised solely of tracks from our first four releases" — 1996 EP "Vempire Or Dark Faerytales In Phallustein", 1994's "The Principle Of Evil Made Flesh", 1996's "Dusk... And Her Embrace" and 1998's "Cruelty And The Beast" — "'Funeral In Carpathia' being my favorite conversion thus far."

KAKTUS PROJECT: \'Superstition\' Artwork Unveiled
 KAKTUS PROJECT, the brainchild of Sylvain Rouvière, will release its debut album, "Superstition", in early 2011 via Metalodic Records. The CD, which is "based on the melodic metal music of STRATOVARIUS, EDGUY, sprinkled with HELLOWEEN," according to a press release, will feature cover art (see below) by J.P. Fournier (EDGUY, AVANTASIA, KERION, INSTANZIA).
Commented Rouvière: "I have now been wanting, for a very long time, to make and release a metal album featuring many different guest artists. Unfortunately, a lack of funding and experience made this project a long-lasting dream. In May 2008, however, I managed to finish building my home studio and finally kickstarted my dream project. I met Belette (David Rousseau) who liked my demos and decided to be a part of it. In July 2008, we recorded the drums for the first five tracks. His drums takes were very solid. It was a fantastic start to the project, very encouraging indeed. I gave me hope that I could actually achieve what I had set out to do. Today, over 20 musicians are involved in the making of that album. Not all of them are already known in the music business but they do all share the same passion for their music and an undeniable talent too."

MARILYN MANSON Signs With COOKING VINYL RECORDS
 Cooking Vinyl Records has announced the signing of MARILYN MANSON.
Having already sold over 50 million records worldwide, Cooking Vinyl overcame fierce competition from several labels in the U.S. and U.K., both major and independent, to release what will be MARILYN MANSON's eighth studio album.
The global deal will see the album issued via MARILYN MANSON's own label — Hell, etc. — in a joint venture between Cooking Vinyl, with the album slated for release in 2011.
After parting ways with Interscope Records, the new partnership with Cooking Vinyl gives MARILYN MANSON an unprecedented degree of creative control. The new setup will see the artist take charge of delivering the completed, mastered album and Cooking Vinyl handling worldwide distribution, marketing and promotion.
Famed for his originality and style, not only in the studio and on stage but also in his elaborate video and thought-provoking filmmaking, the latest studio instalment will again pair up Manson and Twiggy Ramirez.
Manson had this to say: "We will always be our worst audience, until we stop being an audience and start being an artist. Any art is flesh and blood, no matter how you perform, decorate or display it. But we all want the passionate horror of that blood. And blood is what I am here to bring."
The deal is a landmark signing for Cooking Vinyl, and follows the company's huge commercial success with THE PRODIGY, whose "Invaders Must Die" was the best-selling independent release in Europe in 2009.
Cooking Vinyl founder Martin Goldschmidt added: "We're delighted to welcome MARILYN MANSON to Cooking Vinyl. Often our 'relaxed' approach to A&R brings out killer performances and albums from artists. I can't wait to hear what Manson comes up with. This is a landmark signing for us. We shook up folk music in the late 80's/90's with MICHELLE SHOCKED, COWBOY JUNKIES and BILLY BRAGG, we have shaken up dance in the last couple of years with THE PRODIGY, GROOVE ARMADA and UNDERWORLD, and we are ready for a new adventure with Mr. Manson."
In an October 29 interview with "The Blairing Out With Eric Blair Show", MARILYN MANSON bassist Twiggy Ramirez (real name: Jeordie White) stated about the band's forthcoming CD, "It's almost done. It'll probably be out next year. It's fantastic. It's our best record yet, I think. I mean, everyone always says that, but I think this is our best work so far. . . It's kind of like a little more of a punk rock 'Mechanical Animals' [MARILYN MANSON's third album, which came out in 1998] without sounding too pretentious."
MARILYN MANSON last year parted ways with longtime record label Interscope following the disappointing sales performance of the shock-rocker's latest album, entitled "The High End Of Low".
Trent Reznor of NINE INCH NAILS signed MARILYN MANSON to his label Nothing Records, a vanity label of Interscope, in 1993. Nothing Records became defunct in 2004, and MARILYN MANSON remained signed solely to Interscope.
"The High End Of Low" sold 49,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 4 on The Billboard 200 chart.
MARILYN MANSON's previous album, "Eat Me, Drink Me", opened with 88,000 units to land at No. 8. This marked a significant drop from the 118,000 first-week tally registered by its predecessor, "The Golden Age Of Grotesque", which entered the chart at No. 1 back in May 2003.
"The High End Of Low" was Manson's first album with longtime bassist Twiggy Ramirez since 2000's "Holy Wood".
Produced by Manson, Vrenna and Twiggy, "The High End Of Low" was recorded in Manson's Hollywood Hills studio.

SLIPKNOT\'s \'Not A Band, It\'s A Culture,\' Says Percussionist CLOWN
 The other members of SLIPKNOT have been mostly ambivalent about the band's future in the wake of bassist Paul Gray's passing, but percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan told The Pulse of Radio that he's confident the band will be back. "SLIPKNOT just needs time, and everybody needs to be allowed to do what they're doing because they need to do what they need to do," he said. "And then there'll be a time that we'll get together and we'll sort out what's going on. But we'll be back. It's not a band, it's a culture, and you can't just wipe a culture off the face of the earth. People won't have it."
SLIPKNOT singer Corey Taylor and guitarist Jim Root have been touring with their band STONE SOUR this year, while drummer Joey Jordison has been on the road with ROB ZOMBIE. Other SLIPKNOT members have also been involved in various projects.
SLIPKNOT posted a message on its web site earlier in the week asking for the return of items taken from the gravesite of Paul Gray, who died last May. The message reads, "In a very upsetting turn of events we have learned that some gifts left for Paul at his grave site have been stolen. There were statues of a gargoyle as well as a Buddha that were placed at Paul's grave by his friends and family that were taken. We ask that whoever did this please return the items no questions asked. If anyone has any information about the stolen items please let us know by posting in the comments. Thank you for your continued support in this trying time."
Gray was found dead in a hotel room in Urbandale, Iowa on May 24.
An autopsy determined that his death was caused by an accidental overdose of morphine and fentanyl. Gray was also found to be suffering from significant heart disease.
SLIPKNOT dedicated its new DVD, "(sic)nesses", to Paul Gray. The disc came out in late September and chronicles the band's June 2009 performance at England's Download festival, one of the last major performances by Gray.

DEEP PURPLE\'s First Manager TONY EDWARDS Dies At 78
 Tony Edwards, DEEP PURPLE's first manager, died on November 11 at The London Clinic at the age of 78. Simon Robinson of the Deep Purple Appreciation Society writes, "It was without doubt Tony's love of spotting an opportunity which sparked life into the embryonic contacts between musicians which evolved into DEEP PURPLE, and which he and business partner John Coletta (who died in 2006) sunk money into for a couple of years until the breakthrough album 'In Rock' justified the faith of all concerned."

VAN HALEN - Rare Live Recording From 1975 Of LED ZEPPELIN Cover Unearthed
 "The Metal Den has obtained what is reportedly an extremely rare live 1975 recording of VAN HALEN covering LED ZEPPELIN's classic song entitled 'Trampled Under Foot', which came off Zeppelin's 1975 album Physical Graffiti.
Before they were selling out arenas, David, Eddie, Alex and Michael were killing it in the Hollywood club scene, most notably at Gazzarri's… which was ultimately demolished and became Billboard Live in 1996. In 1998, the legendary location became The Key Club. The listener will be treated to a time when rock was fun and not some strenuous popularity game, like it is today. - Check it out below."

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS SCOTT WEILAND\'s Christmas Album Postponed
 The release date of STONE TEMPLE PILOTS frontman Scott Weiland's Christmas album, tentatively titled "Most Wonderful Time Of The Year", has been pushed back to next Christmas, according to Weiland's business partner and touring guitarist Doug Grean. The CD will be "very traditional," Weiland told ExploreMusic host Alan Cross in Toronto at the end of August. "You know, strings, upright bass, jazz horns, piano, and guitar." While he was unsure about the exact track listing for the CD, he revealed that he is recording a reggae version of "The Little Drummer Boy". "I'm sort of picking various versions of these songs, because they've been covered so many times, but my favorite versions — with a little twist," he said.
The upcoming album isn't Weiland's first foray into holiday music. Last December he released his cover version of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" — made famous by Judy Garland in "Meet Me in St. Louis" — as a single. He also performed the song on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" back in 2006.

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS drummer Eric Kretz told the Ventura County Star that the band has already started working on a new album less than a year after the release of its self-titled sixth studio effort. Kretz said to the newspaper, "We took quite a long hiatus (from the studio) and then we started touring for about nine months straight. It was just a natural progression to say, 'Let's jump back in and go back in the studio and continue the writing thing.'" Kretz added that fans can expect the record "very soon" but did not offer any specific release plans.
Kretz also said that having enough songs for an album is not a problem, explaining, "There is never a shortage of material. It's just a matter of sifting through it and working with everyone's schedule."
STP released its sixth album earlier this year after a nine-year break from the studio. The band's last effort before that, "Shangri-La-Dee-Da", came out in 2001.
The quartet reunited in 2008 for a successful world tour following a six-year hiatus.
Kretz said that the group hopes to get its new album out sometime next year and is also "looking at . . . trying new ideas of how to present music, especially for downloading."

LANFEAR Continue Work On New Album
 German power metallers LANFEAR have issued the following update:
"Been hard-working in the last two weeks. The production has advanced far already. We recorded all rhythm guitars and the bass guitar and nearly all keyboards. Musically we're almost done except for some acoustic guitars and one or two leads.
It required enormous effort to really find our sound but it finally payed off. Everything sounds very natural and clear but nevertheless more aggressive than anything we did until now. We now look forward to the vocal recordings next month."

It began seven years ago when a pact was made within a dilapidated house hidden in Southern California.  MEMORAIN - the "super-group" formed in 1999 and founded by guitarist Ilias Papadakis. The band's current line-up includes Gene Hoglan (FEAR FACTORY, ex-DARK ANGEL, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD), Steve Digiorgio (SADUS, ex-DEATH, TESTAMENT), Ralph Santolla (OBITUARY, ex-DEICIDE, ICED EARTH, etc) and Chris Valagao (ZIMMERS HOLE, MECHANISM) - have revealed the artwork and tracklisting for Evolution, the upcoming full-length album scheduled for a 2011 release.
