Canada\'s CRADLE TO GRAVE Begins Recording New Album
Canadian metallers CRADLE TO GRAVE have commenced work on their long-awaited, third studio album and follow-up to 2007's "Texas Medicine". The veteran band — which features in its ranks Denis "Sasquatch" Barthe of AGGRESSION and Matt Fowler of ASSAULT/KARRION — just completed pre-production with producer Clay Haluk (INFERNAL MAJESTY, AGGRESSION) and has entered Screen Machine Studios in Vancouver, British Columbia "with the ultimate target to release material as relevant as VENOM's 'Black Metal' or VOIVOD's 'War and Pain' albums," according to a press release.
"Pre-production sessions for the new record were awesome!" states new CRADLE TO GRAVE bass player/singer Demon Mason. "It gave us the opportunity to make our material a little bit more in line with what VENOM did with 'Welcome To Hell' and 'Black Metal'. We can't believe how this band sounds now and we are anxious to show it to the world." | 0

HALLOWS EVE Parts Ways With Guitarist, Announces Replacement
Guitarist Chris Abbamonte has left reunited Atlanta-based thrashers HALLOWS EVE "for personal reasons." His replacement is longtime Atlanta musician Evan Bartelson (THE DESPISED, LAS TREGAS NOSFERATU, BLACK DANIELS) who "brings not only over 25 years in the Atlanta music scene but, more importantly, his unique playing, writing and live performance skills," according to a press release.
HALLOWS EVE's latest album, "The Neverending Sleep" — which featured original HALLOWS EVE members Stacy Andersen (vocals) and Tommy Stewart (bass) alongside Doyle Bright (guitar), Jim Gorman (drums) and Abbamonte — was produced by Doyle Bright of RIGOR MORTIS and was said to be "a conscious effort to achieve the feel and sound of 'Tales of Terror' (1985) and 'Death and Insanity' (1986)." | 0

SARAH JEZEBEL DEVA: Solo Album Artwork Unveiled
British vocalist Sarah Jezebel Deva — who has toured and/or recorded with CRADLE OF FILTH, THERION, MORTIIS and ANGTORIA — will release her solo album, "A Sign of Sublime", in February 2010 through Rising Records. The drums on the CD were laid down by Max Blunos, formerly of the U.K. death metal outfit TRIGGER THE BLOODSHED. Other guest musicians that appear on the album include Martin Powell (CRADLE OF FILTH, ANATHEMA, MY DYING BRIDE) and Dave Pybus (CRADLE OF FILTH). A video for the CD's title track was recently filmed and will be featured on the limited-edition digipack version of "A Sign of Sublime". "The aim is to have a censored AND uncensored version," says Sarah. "There is nothing too bad [about the uncensored version], but, of course, it's all about the visual content that wouldn't be suitable for younger kids as it's about the power of suggestion."
Check out the "A Sign of Sublime" cover artwork below.
Regarding the musical direction of her solo debut, Sarah says, "It's not another ANGTORIA, it's not CRADLE OF FILTH... what is it? Hell if I know! Haha... it's music! No label, just me and the people I care about doing music. It's not pompous, it's not over the top. I would like to say it's just a mixture of styles and feelings. Some tracks are fast, almost having a black metal edge, some tracks are slow, almost like a movie film score... and well, it just doesn't all sound the same, it's not blast beats from start to finish, it has feeling, and well, that's it!"

RAINBOW - Deluxe Versions Of RAINBOW Rising, Down To Earth In The Works?
According to the DEEP PURPLE Appreciation Society, on the back of the the two-CD RAINBOW Anthology 1975-1983 box set recently released by Universal Music in the UK, Universal are preparing Deluxe Editions of Rainbow Rising (1976 - featuring Ronnie James Dio on vocals) and Down To Earth (1979 - featuring Graham Bonnet on vocals). All Universal's previous Deluxe Editions have been two-disc sets, though they're keeping quiet about what will be on the bonus discs for the moment. Steve Hammett says his money is on the Donington 1980 set as a fair bet for the bonus disc of Down to Earth but spies tell the DPAS that CD2 is studio out-takes and stuff, not the live set. Certainly boxes of tape were being sorted through in the studio earlier this year.

GRAVE DIGGER Performs First Show With DOMAIN Guitarist
German heavy metal veterans GRAVE DIGGER, who recently tapped DOMAIN's Axel Ritt to handle the guitar duties for the band on their upcoming live shows, have issued the following update:
"Last Saturday [October 24], we played our first concert with Axel Ritt, in Gladbeck, Germany. It was really a great show. Axel gave his best with a good stage [performance] and also some really good guitar playing. We had a lot of fun and were able to forget about all the negative things that happened during the last few weeks. We returned to the most important point for us: To rock for you on stage!
"From now until December 13, we are searching for the best and most beautiful GRAVE DIGGER tattoo. Send us a photo of your tattoo and we will show it on our website in the 'Fans-Tattoos' section. Then we will choose the three best ones. First prize will be a meet-and-greet with the band on December 19 in Langen, Germany when we play there in the Stadthalle. Second prize will be a personal Clan t-shirt and the third prize will be a Hangman patch.
"Send your photos with name, adress and e-mail to: manager@flying-dolphin.de.
"Of course, all photos will remain on our website after the end of the contest.
"The winners will be informed on December 15. So get ready and send us your photos."

EXSECRATUS Announces New Singer
Finnish metal band EXSECRATUS, which features in its ranks Jussi Raatikainen, the older brother of CHILDREN OF BODOM drummer Jaska, has announced the addition of singer Jenni "Luna" Saira to the group's ranks. EXSECRATUS has also parted ways with keyboardist Anna Räisänen "due personal difficulties between her and and the other members of the band."
Two new songs from EXSECRATUS — "Seventh Day For The Serpent" and "Too Far Beyond" — can be heard in the YouTube clips below. According to the band, "Both [tracks] were dropped [from the group's forthcoming CD] 'cause they didn't fit the agressive style and sound of the album. So this December we'll hit the D studio once again to fill up the two spots with more agressive songs."
EXSECRATUS released its debut album, "Tainted Dreams", in Japan on January 23, 2008 through Spiritual Beast (via a licensing deal with Violent Journey Records). The Japanese pressing of the album contained new artwork and two bonus tracks: "For You" and "Death Brings Me Joy".
"Tainted Dreams" was released in Finland on September 3, 2007 via Violent Journey Records. The CD featured a guest appearance by NORTHER frontman Petri Lindroos in the track Under the Winter Moon.

ASPERA Close To Signing New Deal
BraveWords.com has received the following update on Norwegian prog-metallers ASPERA:
With opening three shows for TARJA TURUNEN in late September, Aspera took the Spanish and Swiss crowds by storm. Especially the metal fans in Madrid and Barcelona went crazy, but also the more relaxed crowd at Z7 in Switzerland was impressed with the performance of the 5 young professionals.
Afterwards, they finished their row of gigs with an exceptional show at the 10th anniversary of Rock Festival 1001 Watt on October 9th in Skien, Norway. Clips on YouTube can be found for all shows.
Successful life performances were followed by an increased industry interest and Aspera waited just long enough, since mastering the album in April this year, to now get an offer that fits perfectly with the bands targets and ambitions.
A record and a publishing deal will be signed shortly to bring the album Ripples onto the market in January 2010. Details will be announced soon!
Stay tuned for further updates. More on Aspera at this location. | 0

The full lineup of TREES OF ETERNITY is not yet in place, but plans are to include Tobias Sidegård (NECROPHOBIC) on bass and Mike Hellmaker (MALEFICIO) as second guitarist.

NIGHTWISH Singer Shoots Down Album Title Rumors
NIGHTWISH singer Anette Olzon has shot down reports that the band's next studio CD has a working title of "Wind Embraced". She writes on her blog, "Some people have asked me about some Wikipedia comment saying that our next NIGHTWISH album already has a title. I haven't heard anything about any title, and since the songs aren't even done yet, I am pretty sure it's only someone making the name up to make a story."
She adds, "Things in the Internet are very often not true, and our album won't be out until 2011, so it's far too early to tell about the album title now."

GHOST MACHINERY Enlist New Singer
Oulu, Finland-based metallers GHOST MACHINERY have issued the following update:
"The new frontman for the band is Taage Laiho. He’s also a vocalist of a well known Finnish band KILPI and you might know his work on two ALTARI albums. Taage’s vocals can be heard on Divinity and The Fallen Empire albums and he also made an extensive European tour with the band in 2006. Kilpi band just released their 5th album, Pirun Merta, and at the moment Kilpi is touring in Finland. Ghost Machinery was formed by a Pete Ahonen (BURNING POINT) in 2002 and they released their debut album, Haunting Remains, in December 2004. It was highly praised in the media all over the world and it gained lots of great reviews as well as huge amount of interviews was made during the time of the release.
It might seem to the public that not much activity, but the band has been very active 'beneath' the surface and the guys have been in and out from the studio recording the second album Out For Blood. Also the band is very happy that although Taage is a newest member he was able to put his 'mark' on the record. Obviously with his great singing but also lyrically he was very much involved.
Currently the band is putting finishing touches to the Out For Blood album and their plan is to release a single at the end of this year." | 0

HEAVENWOOD - New Song Online
Portugal's HEAVENWOOD have issued the following update:
'The Arcadia Order‘, from the forthcoming new album is available for exclusive streaming on the band's MySpace page.
The band is currently hard at work writing the follow-up to its 3rd and 2008’s comeback album, Redemption. The new Heavenwood record has been composed together with the Orchestral / Classic composer DOMINIC G JOUTSEN from Moscow and a release is expected for 2010 (more details to be announced soon).
The band/ management decision to preview new material so early is because, "everybody is really excited about the new stuff and the things are getting really amazing proportions and also the fans and people in general can have a small taste of what’s to come".
"For this new album the band will talk about the Portuguese female poet Marquesa De Alorna, or D. Leonor de Lencastre Portugal and her passionate, turbulent and unfair way of life from 8 to 18 years old once she was arrested at a Monastery for a crime she and her family did not commit.
The talent, genius and expressive sensations from her poems are amazing regarding the century, the fact she was engaged, etc.. she was also very closed friend from Bocage and recently was discovered she introduced the Rose Society in Portugal... so as you see… a visionary!!!"
Song titles set to appear on the CD include 'Goddess Presiding Over Solitude', 'September Blood', 'The Arcadia Order', 'Leonor', 'A Poem For Mathilde' and 'Sudden Scars'.
The band recently released their new video, for the track '13th Moon'. Check it out below. The video was recorded May 30th in Braga, Portugal, and the production was handled by Carlos Barros, Rui Correia and Ricardo Coutinho, a team of young talented Portuguese video/ filmmakers, designers and photographers.
The '13th Moon' video concept is based on the Zodiac signs and it has subliminal messages through images in the amazing style of Alchemy interpretation.

ROB ZOMBIE Explains Album Delay
Rob Zombie told Billboard.com that he decided to push back the release date of his fourth solo album, "Hellbilly Deluxe 2: Noble Jackals, Penny Dreadfuls and the Systematic Dehumanization of Cool", because "everything was turning into a chaotic mess." ("Hellbilly Deluxe 2", had been bumped from a November 17 arrival to an undetermined 2010 release date.)
"Basically the label (Geffen) wasn't really in a position to promote it or deal with it," Zombie explained. "It was basically everything, from getting advance copies to the press to...There wasn't even time to make a video (for the first single, 'What?') and we were leaving for the tour. There was the sense that every little thing about the record was rushed — not the music, 'cause that was done for a long time, and that was the thing that was so annoying. We spent so much time crafting the record, we didn't want it to be something that was so chaotic that it became, 'Oh, that's done and gone' two weeks later."
Zombie is offering "Ultimate Fan Packages" through I Love All Access for his upcoming North American tour, which begins this Thursday (October 29) in Phoenix, Arizona. The package includes one ticket per buyer, priority access where allowable, a meet-and-greet with Zombie, a pre-show party, an exclusive Zombie gift bag, a souvenir tour laminate and parking. If you already have a ticket, you can upgrade your existing ticket through the package.
Zombie will be joined on his first headlining trek since 2007 by openers NECROMANTIX and CAPTAIN CLEGG AND THE NIGHT CREATURES. Zombie told The Pulse of Radio that the latter band may be familiar to fans who saw his latest effort as a director, "Halloween II". "CAPTAIN CLEGG AND THE NIGHT CREATURES are . . . they're sort of like the MONKEES," he said. "They were a fictitious band that now became real. They're the band that's playing in the Halloween party in 'Halloween II', which this friend of mine, Jesse Dayton, we formed this fake band for the movie, and people seemed to love it so much it sort of took on a life of its own, and now it's like a real band that's on tour with us."
"Halloween II", Zombie's sequel to his own hit 2007 remake of the iconic horror classic, will be re-released in theatres on October 30 in time for the holiday it's named after.
"Hellbilly Deluxe 2" is the "sequel" to Zombie's first solo studio effort, "Hellbilly Deluxe", released in 1998. | 0

ZEPPELIN Bassist On Why PLANT-Less Tour Failed To Materialize: We Couldn\'t Agree On Singers
Bassist John Paul Jones has told BBC News that there were plans in 2008 for the original LED ZEPPELIN members to hit the road without frontman Robert Plant — under a different name — which were later abandoned.
Now, John Paul Jones who is currently playing with THEM CROOKED VULTURES, also featuring FOO FIGHTERS' Dave Grohl and Josh Homme from QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE — said things have worked out for the best. "Jimmy [Page] and I rehearsed a bit with Jason Bonham and we couldn't really agree on singers and that fell by the wayside," he said. "Then this came along and to be honest, I'm really happy."
THEM CROOKED VULTURES made their first official single, called "New Fang", available to radio stations on Monday (October 26). The track is also streaming at the trio's web site and is taken from the band's self-titled debut album, which is due for release on November 17. Meanwhile, following their first North American tour of mostly East Coast cities earlier this month, the group will next head west for four gigs in November.
