BORKNAGAR - Universal To Be Released Februrary 22nd
 Indie Recordings has confirmed that BORKNAGAR’s upcoming album, Universal, will be released worldwide on February 22nd.
The album will be released in 4 different formats: regular jewlcase CD, limited digipack including bonus disc, CD box with extras and gatefold LP with double vinyl.
Cover art and more information will be revealed shortly.
Some recent words from mastermind/guitarist Øystein G. Brun: "Making of Universal was recorded, edited and produced by the band in order to satisfy you - the fans! This will grant you with a glimpse into the process of making our new album Universal and even a small taste of what is about to come. Four episodes will be launched during this autumn, towards the actual release in early 2010. Hope you enjoy this ride throughout the making of this grandiose album, we certainly did!"

WINTER IN EDEN Release Debut Digital EP
 UK-based British female fronted symphonic metallers WINTER IN EDEN have announced the release of their debut digital EP, At The Edge Of The World.
At The Edge Of The World was recorded at Trinity Heights studio in Newcastle upon Tyne and produced by Fred Purser (ex-TYGERS OF PAN TAGE, PENETRATION). The EP showcases three tracks of searing metal combined with enchanting vocal and orchestral melodies. A full album will begin recording in January 2010.

 Metal vocalist Al Atkins (HOLY RAGE, ex-JUDAS PRIEST) has posted the following message:
"Our new song, 'A Void To Avoid', is now uploaded for all you metalheads to have a listen to. The song features a cameo solo by the incredible Bernie Torme (OZZY OSBOURNE, IAN GILLAN, GMT).
This song, along with 'Give Them Hell' are bonus tracks on the global release of Demon Deceiver Plus, which is available worldwide right now, but will also be featured on the new Holy Rage album to be completed around March 2010.

AEROSMITH Get Back On The Saddle In Hawaii; Setlist Revealed, Video Available
 AEROSMITH climbed back in the saddle on October 18th at the Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu, Hawaii. The Boston rockers are performing two make-up concerts after cancelling a Maui concert two years ago that resulted in a class action lawsuit, then recently cancelling the remainder of their recent tour due to injuries to lead singer Steven Tyler.

CORROSION OF CONFORMITY - Deliverance, Wiseblood To Be Reissued As Double-CD
 On December 14th, Ironbird via Cherry Red Records will be releasing a double CD package bringing together two of CORROSION OF CONFORMITY’s albums, Deliverance (1994) and Wiseblood (1996).

With guitarist Pepper Keenan taking over at the helm as lead singer and principal songwriter, Corrosion Of Conformity abandoned most of the punk influences of their crossover past and turned into a fully-fledged, SABBATH-inspired metal band with the album, Deliverance. Most of the songs on the album are built on monolithic power chords, which range from ferocious speed on Heaven’s Not Overflowing and Senior Limpio to slower, groovier numbers such as 'Broken Man' and 'Albatross'.

GOTTHARD To Visit The Vatican
 Swiss success Rockers GOTTHARD will visit the holy halls of the Vatican before playing Rome, Italy. The group has been invited by Swiss guardians to come and have a look in the Pope's home.
According to a press release, with the successful album Need To Believe, Gotthard have taught us the belief into true rock music - now the musicians are going to the place that is standing for belief more than anything else. And the visit already takes place on the first day of the tour: On October, 23rd, Gotthard, who just came back from a show in Japan, will start their two months lasting European tour in Rome. Before going on stage for the first time on this tour, the Swiss gentlemen will meet up with Swiss guardians in Vatican - a more than impressive start for a tour that offers a lot of exciting moments - including the German shows with EUROPE as a special guest as well as the France shows with DEEP PURPLE as a headliner.

METALLICA - Francais Pour Une Nuit DVD Details Revealed
 METALLICA have issued the following update:
On July 7th of this year we were honored to perform at Arenes de Nimes, the historic Roman amphitheatre in Nimes, France, easily one of the most spectacular venues in the world. We thought it would be a memorable night, so we asked our friends in France to bring along a film crew to document the festivities. The result is Francais Pour Une Nuit (translation: French For One Night), the DVD of the evening including the full show, interviews with us, and five videos shot by YOU, our buddies in the audience. All this and more will be available starting November 23rd, 2009!
Francais Pour Une Nuit was extra special for us because not only was it filmed in France, but ALL aspects of the project are French as the show was filmed, recorded, and edited with French camera and recording crews, the artwork on the package and special box set (more on that in a minute!) were created by a French design team; even the credits are in French. The only non-French parts: the three Americans and one Dane on stage and the photos shot by Englishman Ross Halfin.
The DVD will be available in retail stores in France only, at metallica.com, or you may order online through the record company at metallicanimes.com. There will be three formats available: Standard DVD in a digipack including a 16 page booklet, Blu-Ray DVD, also in a digipack with the booklet, and the deluxe limited edition box set (it's actually a tin) that includes the DVD, a copy of Death Magnetic on CD, a T-shirt, laminated pass, and five exclusive photos.

NIGHTWISH Singer Anette Olzon Commences Work On New Solo Album In Stockholm
 NIGHTWISH singer Anette Olzon has issued the following update:
"I am at my hotel room in Stockholm after a day full of creating songs in the studio together with Stefan and Johan. Its been really nice and also fun to sit down and making songs together. We have one song that is ready to record some vocals on tomorrow and then two more ideas that we will work more with. Now I just need to write some more lyrics to them, in my own private space.
This will be so great and its so nice to have such great songwriters and musicians to help me with the songs. We work that way that we sit down by the piano and the guitar and just try melodies etc and then I write down lyrics and we try and test the structure of the song. Then Johan goes and puts drums, bass etc in the computer to get the music recorded for me to test-sing it. Then we work from there. It's so nice to create songs like this, I haven't done that since we started ALYSON AVENUE, so its been a while but I'll soon get a hang of it again.
And I really like the sound of it already!
Now: time to write some lyrics writing before I fall asleep...my head's tired.

SLAYER\'s Dave Lombardo Working On Solo Album Of \"World Music With An Edge\"
 According to Contactmusic.com, SLAYER's Dave Lombardo is working on a new solo album of world beats.
The drummer is currently touring Australia with the metal band and fellow rockers MEGADETH, but he can't wait to head back to the US and finish his new project, which will be ready for release in 2010.
Lombardo tells Classic Rock magazine, "It will showcase a very different side of me. If you're a metalhead then you may not appreciate a lot of what'll be on it. It's really world music with an edge. It's an opportunity for me to reveal a different side to my playing - much more avant-garde. It won't have any singing, or other instruments apart from drums and percussion. It's my vanity project, I suppose. I've been working on it for a while, and hope to get it finished soon."

After the break of After Forever, singer Floor Jansen soon decided she wanted to start over and present a new band to the public as soon as possible. To accomplish this she joined forces with two additional songwriters to first compose, then record an album. A live band is soon to be formed after completion, which will get her back on stage where she belongs!
The first composer to join this new collaboration was soon found when Waldemar Sorychta contacted her to inquire about her current activities and potential future cooperation. Being a fan of Grip Inc. this idea of working with Waldemar was a big honor and a first step in creating a sound! Waldemar’s unique style combined with his experience as songwriter/producer made her dream come closer to reality.
The second composer was found in After Forever colleague Joost van den Broek. Asking Joost to join seemed logical because of his great keyboards and arrangements, and therefore his potentially valuable contribution. Despite his busy schedule, he wanted to join and get started immediately. With him on board the songwriting team was complete!
The ReVamp sound will become a unique blend of the personal style we will recognize from these musicians. Combining these individual sounds in one album promises to result in heavy and very metal!

According to a new Billboard.com article on the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and their new album, Night Castle, co-founder / director Paul O'Neill will be bringing a stage production of SAVATAGE's Gutter Ballet album to Broadway:
"TSO, which has sold 7.2 million albums since 1996, hits the road for its annual two-company holiday season tour on Nov. 1 after playing to more than 1.2 million fans in 2008. Songs from Night Castle will be included in the show, but no full-scale stage production of the album is scheduled yet. O'Neill, meanwhile, is plotting a variety of future TSO endeavors, including a re-release of Beethoven's Last Night with a revised and expanded booklet, a Broadway production of Gutter Ballet, which he originally worked on with the band Savatage in 1989, and a series of films that will likely include at least one animated feature by Hildebrandt."

SEMLAH In Writing Mode
 Swedish power-doom metallers SEMLAH are back in writing mode.
Most parts for the band's upcoming, yet-untitled second album are already written, and the band plan to enter a studio sometime in early 2010 to record the set.
Prior to that, Semlah - featuring legendary bass-player Wilbur (ex-COUNT RAVEN) - will record a secret cover song for a split 7” single with fellow Swedish doomsters ISOLE. This single will be part of the new, upcoming Cyclone Empire split-7” single series, called Imperial Anthems.

CRADLE OF FILTH Hard At Work On New Material
 Vocalist Dani "Filth" Davey of British extreme metallers CRADLE OF FILTH has posted a lengthy update on the band's official MySpace blog. An excerpt from his message follows below.
"At the time of writing, September is almost through, with skies fire-paved and a gorgeous Indian summer settling like a phoenix on the east coast of England, the last few weeks finding me extremely busy with the trivialities of being at home and working in a band at the same time. Thus creativity has flourished under this wonderful boon and the first ideas for a new CRADLE album have started to creep and crawl in the far-flung shadows of our combined imaginations. Bearing in mind we have merely the skeletal structures of a few songs laid out, that autumnal vibe is already spreading like a mist, and the tunes are sounding very malefic indeed. Very much like the 'Godspeed...' album thrust up a gear.
"Paul [Allender; guitar] has moved to a luxury apartment on the dockside quay in Ipswich, the apocalyptic vision of a reddened sun split by the thin silhouettes of bobbing yacht masts, highly inspirational, tempering his writing with furious abandonment. In the meantime, Martin [Skaroupka; drums] is hard at work on his practice kit back in the Czech Republic, providing the midi backbone to Paul's initial structures, which are then later embellished by guitars and keyboards. Luckily, Dave [Pybus; bass] lives in spitting distance of Paul's new gaff, so he's in partnership with the basic skeleton of every track, which is then flown past [keyboardist] Ashley ['Ellyllon' Jurgemeyer] (who has just moved this week from Phoenix to Los Angeles), who then goes all symphonic on its rugged ass. Things therefore are moving well towards our new, as-yet-untitled album, with a possible studio start date of early January to be ringed in all gothic diaries. Bring it on!
"Now I think everybody got to hear about the stupid happenings at this year's Bloodstock with the kilo-weight candy balls and the cancelled set, so much so this will be the last thing I'll say about it. Period. It's just a crying shame that some idiot ruined for so many people, least of all and very selfishly, me, as it was the last of our summer festival run, it was on home turf and friends and family were present. Plus the weather was damn near perfect and there was a really cool vibe amongst people as the sun slunk towards our headline set. Aside from the fact that Paul, in really bad pain, had to be whisked to hospital for a body scan, two children, one of whom was handicapped, were almost hit by these deadly projectiles. And who the hell sells these things at a fucking festival anyway? Stupid beyond belief."

IN VAIN - New Album Mastered
 orway's IN VAIN, who will release their new album, Mantra, early next year, have announced that mastering for the effort has been completed.
Says the band, "The age of Mantra is approaching..."

ROB ZOMBIE: New Album Pushed Back To 2010
 Rob Zombie's fourth solo studio album, "Hellbilly Deluxe 2: Noble Jackals, Penny Dreadfuls and the Systematic Dehumanization of Cool", has been pushed back to " an undetermined 2010 date" from the previously announced November 17 (via Geffen Records). No reason was given for the delay.
"Hellbilly Deluxe" was the name of Zombie's first and most successful solo outing, issued back in 1998.
"The plan was always to make this kind of like the sequel to 'Hellbilly Deluxe', but I didn't want to force it," Zombie recently told AOL's Noisecreep. "I always figure records dictate their own journey. You might say, 'Oh, we're going to write the heaviest thing ever.' But you get in there and, you know, you might write things that aren't heavy that are great, so you kind of go with it. But this one seems like a great follow-up to that record."
"The record's really varied, just like the first one," Zombie says of the new CD. "There are huge, epic songs with 100-piece orchestras. And then there's something like 'What,' which is just the four of us in a garage literally playing live together and making a big noise."

VOLBEAT To Record Song For Danish Boxing Champion
 Danish metal rock 'n' rollers VOLBEAT will enter Hansen Studios in Ribe, Denmark next week to record a song for Danish boxing champion Mikkel Kessler. Kessler will use the recording as an intro to his upcoming fights as part of the "Super Six" tournament.

ORDEN OGAN Signs With AFM RECORDS
 AFM Records has announced the signing of ORDEN OGAN, the melodic/power/folk metal band from Arnsberg, Germany. The group's new album, "Easton Hope", will be made available in early 2010.
In August, ORDEN OGAN released the video for the song "We Are Pirates", which can be viewed below. The song was used by Germany's biggest TV station RTL for several trailers that aired during the channel's Formula 1 broadcast.
Commented the band: "We always wanted to have a label that really believes in the band and gives 110% for ORDEN OGAN. We're very happy to announce that we signed in with AFM Records and are absolutely sure that this is the right decision and the right partner for ORDEN OGAN.
