Deformity is the impending new full-length from Garden State-based death metal deviants Cognitive. Set to drop via Unique Leader on October 28th, the nine-track slab of inexorable brutality was captured at Full Force Studio by Joe Cincotta (Suffocation, Internal Bleeding, Dehumanized) and mastered at West West Side Studios by Alan Douches (Cannibal Corpse, Converge, Black Breath, Mastodon).
In advance of its release, Cognitive has premiered the official lyric video to the track, "Haunted Justice".
"'Haunted Justice' is about a town of tortured people attempting to exact their revenge on the witches that have stolen, sacrificed, and consumed their children," elaborates the band. "The only problem is, when you kill the Host body to Pure Evil, you only wind up doing it the favor of releasing it and unleashing true terror onto the world. Give it a listen, read, and learn the lyrics so you can sing with us next time we're in your town. Also, listen closely to the amazing guest spots from Misery Index's very own Mark Kloeppel who absolutely killed the track and brought a visceral sound of hate to life in his performance."

A new video for the track "Birthing The Deformity”, shot deep within New Jersey's sprawling Pine Barrens, can be seen below.
Says vocalist Jorel Hart, "'Birthing The Deformity' describes the nightmare that is the beginning of existence for the great and terrible horror that dwells in the vast and desolate Barrens. We agreed that the best way for us to portray the abominable actions that may have taken place that night was to film in the fabled forest itself."
In conjunction with the release of Deformity, Cognitive will bring their maniacal odes to the stage on the two-plus week Birthing The Deformity US Tour which runs from October 28th through November 13th with additional onstage abrasions to be announced in the weeks to follow.
