Vocalist / solo artist Lindsay Schoolcraft, formerly of Cradle Of Filth, has revealed the story behind her song "Savior", the first single from her new solo album, Martyr.
Lindsay: "Many songs are written about wanting to be saved, but what happens to the person that is doing the saving? This is what I wrote 'Savior' about. People have leaned on me for comfort and at times it has left me feeling very drained. When Rocky (Gray / ex-Evanescence) sent me the demo of this song I felt it was 'time' to finally talk about this experience. To better convey the story we added Gregorian Chanters into the mix: A dream come true for me as a recording artist!"
Lindsay recently issued the following update:
"Greetings, Schoolcraftians!. Yes, it's true, I DO have a newsetter! Right now you can get 3 free songs from Martyr by clicking the link below. This is also a sure way to get onto my mailing list, where I send exclusive monthly updates about my creative happenings. You'll also be the first to hear about new music, merch, and when I'll be in your city.

Italy's Bad As have leaked the first material from their upcoming album, Crucified Society, due for release via Sliptrick Records on March 17th. It’s the title track and here’s the band's official comments:
“The song speaks of a society now compromised by the world of social networks. Where the population is the victim of a System, in which fame is the only way to be recognized and collecting 'likes', and therefore the esteem of others. The world collapses under this lifestyle and, not realizing it, people end up making absurd gestures to be hated and loved, aspired and envied, advancing in the rank of society with the sole purpose of image. Dignity is less and less and nothing personal and innovative is created, self-destructing. As the name of the song itself says, the 'Society of the Crucifixes' is where everyone tries to find the best way to appear, ending all martyrs of themselves.”
Lutharö, from Hamilton, Canada is unleashing their sophomore EP, Wings Of Agony, on March 27th. This release promises to be more innovative and imaginative than the last one, as Lutharö stepped out of their comfort zone for this recording.
Foreshadowing the EP comes a video for the single and the title track. The roller coaster of a song will bring out the worst of your anxiety and your deepest inner peace within six minutes. It is the perfect introduction to the new era of Lutharö that is darker than before, but still melodic and embodies the same amount of energy listeners have come to expect.
Lutharö's lyrics all come from a personal place and they hope fans will find a connection to the songs. As they state: “'Wings of Agony' is a song about the never-ending struggle to pursue a passion. In one moment you feel like you are soaring on cloud nine, things are going your way and you exude confidence. Then at the flip of a switch, you enter a moment of darkness where you feel lost and hopeless, never knowing when the light at the end of the tunnel will return. This is the never-ending cycle we embrace because we would rather be tortured in the process of pursuing our dreams than to give up on them. We want the fans to be able to relate to the strong message on this EP and find empowerment from it.”

German rock band, Serum 114, have released their new single, "Freiheit" (engl. freedom), along with an official music video, fresh off their upcoming album, Im Zeichen der Zeit, to be released via Napalm Records on September 18.
With a resounding sizzle and the first chords, Serum 114's new single promises a bittersweet summer feeling. The passionate mid-tempo hymn breathes the feeling of an intensive gaze into far horizons and the light heaviness of memories. In an honest and authentic manner, "Freiheit" leaves space for both: a brief pause and a gloomy retrospective of moments filled with happiness. The track leaves you thoughtful at first sight, but overwhelms your mind with a feather-light feeling of cheerfulness at second glance.
In a visually stunning Sicilian ambient, the accompanying audiovisual underlines the melancholy enriched by a wisp of joy and takes the listener to his personal place of memories. “Freiheit” offers a slight pre-taste of the upcoming album, which will be released towards the end of the year: Rebellious, honest and never adapted. For the rest of your life: freedom!
Serum 114 on their new single: "After a long break, we are happy to finally be able to hit the road again with a fresh piece of rock and, once again, break new musical ground. Together with the producers & musicians Arne Wiegand, Ruben Berger and Hans Koch (8Kids) we have succeeded in opening new doors for ourselves and further developing the sound of Serum 114."

Klaus and the band made up the postponed date on February 26, and the singer addressed the crowd, stating: "It feels so good to be back in Sydney tonight. Oh, yes. What can I say? It feels really good to be out on stage here tonight. First, I wanna say, sorry for 2018, and sorry for last Saturday. Heaven is closed and Ad Infinitum awaits you in hell: The symphonic metal alliance presents their second single, “See You In Hell”, off their upcoming album, Chapter I: Monarchy, to be released on April 3 via Napalm Records.
In an unusual but bewitchingly quiet manner, the mellow yet expressionistic side of Ad Infinitum's Melissa Bonny's vocals invites for a gloomy daydream ending in the darkest pits of hell. The audiovisual accompanying "See You In Hell" invites its viewer for a daredevil game: In a historical setting, the protagonist poisons an old acquaintance and enchants each and every one of the listener’s senses. The bittersweet ode offers a goodbye as light as a feather and presents a completely new facet of the bands symphonic spectra.
Soft, plucking sounds appearing as clear as a bell mix with lacerating guitar riffs to a majestic, unique soundscape. The auditory and visually obscure aura underlines their charming mysticism.
Ad Infinitum’s intoxicating symbiosis of boasting, energetic and uncompromising metal guides you through the hammering jaws of time.
Ad Infinitum on “See You In Hell”: “We are very excited to share this second song which offers a very different atmosphere and dynamic than what you heard with 'Marching On Versailles'. The dark and dramatic symphony of a heartbroken murderer.”
With Chapter I: Monarchy, Ad Infinitum puts a spell on the world and surges right into the heart of epic symphonic metal with full force. Melissa Bonny’s multi-faceted vocals fill every fiber of the anthemic “Demons” - from powerful, fragile highs to deep growls, the track will send shivers down your spine. The energetic and equally melodic soundscapes of the vigorous ballad “Fire and Ice“ perfectly illustrate the heart-wrenching tones of Ad Infinitum.
Ad Infinitum states: “The time has come, finally! We are very proud to present to you the first chapter of the band's history. We invite you to listen to it daily... You know what they say... Ad Infinitum everyday keeps the doctors away. Or does it?”

German-Italian melodic metal act, The Unity, have released a new single and video, for the song "Line And Sinker". The song is taken from the forthcoming studio album, Pride. Watch the clip below.
Following two successful studio albums (The Unity, 2017 and Rise, 2018), tours with Axel Rudi Pell, Edguy and Sinner, among others, not to mention their own headlining shows and performances at renowned festivals all over Europe, the latest album release by power metal act The Unity, entitled Pride, documents the group’s consistent and at the same time impressive development.
“I’d describe our current material not merely as an evolvement, because every band evolves in one way or another. In fact, I’m pretty proud of what we’ve achieved so far, not only in musical terms but also on a personal level,” says Gianbattista Manenti, Italian vocalist of the tight unit, as he likes to refer to it, consisting of himself, drummer Michael Ehré (Primal Fear, Gamma Ray, Firewind), guitarists Henjo Richter (Gamma Ray) and Stef, bassist Jogi Sweers and keyboardist Sascha Onnen.
In view of increasingly nationalistic tendencies worldwide and misconceived patriotism it may not be altogether innocuous to voice a pride in your own achievements, yet pride in itself is apolitical and lacks any kind of political undertones. So there are not only valid but also exclusively artistic reasons that made The Unity decide to combine their eleven new songs (plus intro) under the heading of Pride. Every single note speaks of that homogeneity, no matter how noisy or how quiet, tough or mellow, determined or laid-back its delivery.
Pride will be released via SPV/Steamhammer on March 13 as 2CD digipak, 2LP gatefold, download and stream. Pre-order here.

On February 25, METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett performed at an all-star tribute concert to FLEETWOOD MAC co-founder Peter Green at the London Palladium. The event, which was curated by Green's fellow FLEETWOOD MAC co-founder Mick Fleetwood, featured additional appearances by Billy Gibbons, David Gilmour, Jonny Lang, Andy Fairweather Low, John Mayall, Christine McVie, Zak Starkey, Steven Tyler and Bill Wyman.
Fleetwood said about the show: "The concert is a celebration of those early blues days where we all began, and it's important to recognize the profound impact Peter and the early FLEETWOOD MAC had on the world of music. Peter was my greatest mentor and it gives me such joy to pay tribute to his incredible talent. I am honored to be sharing the stage with some of the many artists Peter has inspired over the years and who share my great respect for this remarkable musician."
Fan-filmed video footage of the concert, including Tyler and Gibbons teaming for "Oh Well" and Hammett playing "The Green Manalishi (WIth The Two Prong Crown)", can be seen below.
The concert took place just a few weeks after it was announced that Hammett is collaborating with Green on a book and music project for Rufus Publications. Hammett was at Abbey Road Studios in London last month to record "something very special" for the project, which will feature guest appearances by several other artists. In addition, Hammett has posted a couple of photographs with Green, including one image where Peter can be seen holding a vinyl copy of METALLICA's "Master Of Puppets" album and another where they are both holding Green's legendary 1959 Les Paul guitar — known as "Greeny" — which Hammett now owns.
Prior to the event, Hammett made a blog post on his FearFestevil.com web site in which he wrote: "I'm honored to be playing a part in the Peter Green Celebration Show being staged by Mick Fleetwood at the London Palladium. Between Mick, Billy Gibbons and Dave Gilmour I am going to be in the presence of some severe legends, and in truth, I'm completely blown away by that.
"When I acquired Greenie, I bought her because she sounded great. She's a very unique sounding guitar. I had no idea it would lead to all these different opportunities, all these different experiences, and meeting all these different people. It was coming up on 50 years since Peter Green left FLEETWOOD MAC, this tribute was happening, but no one called me until Ross Halfin called Mick Fleetwood's manager and kind of informed him about my owning the guitar and suggested I should be part of it. So Mick Fleetwood got a hold of me at the beginning of the 'Hardwired…' tour and asked if I was interested in doing this tribute to Peter Green. At the time I had to tell him I had no idea what my schedule was gonna be like with METALLICA because we were literally on the eve of our first shows for 'Hardwired…' But then three years passed and the tribute show started to develop more. Ross had kept me abreast on how it was taking shape, so I contacted Mick Fleetwood, and he was gracious enough to say I could still be part of it. So that's how I'll get to play 'Green Manalishi' at the Peter Green tribute!
"It's just amazing, seeing and hearing all the people committed to the tribute. The majority of them are all people I've been well aware of ever since I was a young musician, so to be playing with some of them now, it's a mind blower … A Mind Blower !!"

Finnish hard rockers, One Desire, have announced that their second album, Midnight Empire, will be released on April 10 via Frontiers Music Srl. Today, the band has released the first single and music video, "After You're Gone". Watch below.
Stream "After You're Gone" and pre-order/save the album here.
One Desire released their self-titled debut to massive acclaim. With a true hit single, "Hurt" (nearly 2 million views on YouTube, 3 million streams on Spotify) the band found their way to the forefront of the melodic rock scene. A couple of successful European tours with Eclipse and H.E.A.T were followed by more dates and festivals through the end of 2017, before the band headed back to the studio to start work on their sophomore release.
In the works for a little over two years, the resulting album Midnight Empire generously repays the long wait the fans have had to suffer for new music from the band. It’s a more mature, at times adventurous, album, but still with an unbelievable hookiness that fans know and love from the debut. This is simply your album of the year if you like, no LOVE melodic rock. It’s going to be quite impossible to top this.

Metallica has regretfully had to cancel their headline performances at Sonic Temple Art + Music Festival in Columbus, OH (May 15 & 17) and Louder Than Life in Louisville, KY (September 18 & 20) to allow singer James Hetfield to continue his road to recovery. A message from James follows:
"Dear Metallica Family,
"It pains me to write this, but I have to let all of you know that I cannot make it to Sonic Temple in Columbus and Louder Than Life in Louisville this year. As part of my continuing effort to get and stay healthy, I have critical recovery events on those weekends that cannot be moved. I apologize to all of our fans who have bought tickets for these festivals. We are working with the festival promoters to provide for refunds or exchanges. My intent with this statement is saying “I apologize” to each one of you. The reality is that I have not prioritized my health in the past year of touring and I now know that my mental health comes first. That might sound like a no-brainer for most of you but I didn’t want to let the Metallica team/family down and, I alone, completely compromised myself.
"Looking on the brighter side, my therapy is going well. It was absolutely necessary for me to look after my mental, physical, and spiritual health.
"I want to stress that the band will play all other announced 2020 shows.
"I am looking forward to getting back to playing and seeing all our great South American fans in April. And, of course, playing Epicenter in Charlotte, Welcome to Rockville in Daytona and Aftershock in Sacramento. We will still play two unique sets at each of these festivals.
"Beyond 2020, I am optimistic about the blessings I have been given and what the future brings. I appreciate all the great prayers and support from everyone since I went into rehab last September. Like the moth into the flame, being human in this career has its huge challenges and can be difficult. Your understanding helps the healing." - James Hetfield
Metallica reassures its fans that Metallica will appear at Danny Wimmer Presents festivals Epicenter (May 1 & 3), Welcome to Rockville (May 8 & 10) and Aftershock (October 9 & 11) as scheduled.
Says the band: "Thanks to Tool and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who have graciously offered to step in for us at Sonic Temple; Louder Than Life headliners will be announced at a later date. Sonic Temple and Louder Than Life pass holders who would like to exchange their passes to see Metallica at another Danny Wimmer Presents festival, or would like to receive a refund, will be able to do so starting this Friday, February 28th. An email will be sent out to purchasers from Front Gate Ticketing on Friday at 10:00 AM EST with complete exchange and refund details. Danny Wimmer Presents founder and festival creator Danny Wimmer says, “First and foremost, I want to say how much I respect and support James for taking care of himself, and for his commitment to getting healthy. At the same time, I am also deeply devoted to providing our festivalgoers with the biggest and best festival experience in the world. As disappointed as we all are to lose Metallica, I am thrilled that Red Hot Chili Peppers and Tool, dear friends of both DWP and Metallica, are stepping up on short notice to join Slipknot, keeping Sonic Temple on track to be the greatest rock festival in America.”
Sonic Temple and Louder Than Life pass holders who would like to exchange their passes to see Metallica at another Danny Wimmer Presents festival, or would like to receive a refund, will be able to do so starting this Friday, February 28. From blood, sweat and tears to the great victory: Temperance released their energetic new single, “Start Another Round”, fresh off their latest album, Viridian. Taking risks and playing with one’s own luck and fate are the main topics of this melodic live anthem - even if the way to success and victory is paved with bruises and disappointments, it is the grand prize and self-fulfillment that matters after all.
Highlighting the importance of determination and faith in one’s own talents, the catchy song is accompanied by an equally dynamic and adrenaline-filled music video. The breathtaking stunts and acrobatics, the cheering crowd enjoying the sound of Temperance, and the outstanding stage charisma of the band members themselves make “Start Another Round” a deeply expressive and motivating experience. The video definitely transports the positive attitude of the song and will bring a wide smile to your face.
Singer Michele Guaitoli comments: "When I first heard this track during pre-production, I immediately knew it would become one of Temperance's hymns! Energy, happiness, power, and self-development are all gathered in this track that compares our lives with gambling: if you don’t take your chances now, you never will. In rousing dark euphoria, Danish progressive black metal enigma, (0), lifts the veil for their debut album, SkamHan, which will be released on April 24 via Napalm Records. The offering of black, drone and post metal spiced with intense sludge and progressive influences takes the listener on a labyrinthine journey. Straight from the Danish underground, the anonymous quintet (0) presents seven explosive and dominating tracks.
The opening track, “Tyndere End Hud”, infatuates with intoxicating riffs and forceful growls, drawing its listener into the somber void. The harsh and extreme soundscapes coalescence with the hypnotizing, yet mesmerizing lyric video which picks up the aesthetics of the artfully designed album cover.
The band states: “We’re happy to release the first single from our upcoming album SkamHan, which will be released on April 24th. The lyrics are based on the poem Tyndere end Hud (Thinner than Skin). The theme is broken and fragmented relations due to inner conflicts and difference in hopes and dreams. This is our first single on Napalm Records and we’re thrilled to continue to bring music to our fans and hopefully gain new excited listeners. Enjoy!“

SkamHan will be available in the following formats:

Ross “The Boss” Friedman and his band, Ross The Boss, will release their new album, Born Of Fire, on March 6 via AFM Records. Pre-order here. A video for the song "Maiden Of Shadows" can be found below.
One can’t talk about genre defining acts in the metal scene without mentioning one man: Ross “The Boss” Friedman has written music history as a founding member of Manowar and The Dictators. His influence in heavy metal and also punk is noticeable to this day.
Manowar’s first six masterpieces which saw him significantly involved in between 1982 and 1988 are immortal classics today, and that the band wasn’t able to deliver the same quality again after his departure speaks for the New York based guitarist and songwriter. Since 2006 Ross again is releasing traditional and raw epic metal which calls up memories of the Manowar masterpieces from the 80’s with its very own style.
The brand new album, Born Of Fire, is the fourth album from Friedman and his band, which arrives not even two years after their chart breaking 2018 effort, By Blood Sworn. While Ross The Boss used this time for extensive touring they built their latest epos which will excite fans worldwide seemingly effortless out of nothing.
Born Of Fire is pounding yet fresher and heavier out of the speakers than before, but isn’t lacking any of the typical Ross The Boss trademarks.

After the successful release of By Blood Sworn in 2018, a full European tour and glorious festival shows all over Europe, the Ross The Boss band returns to Europe in April 2020 to promote their upcoming new album. Tour dates, with special guests Burning Witches and Asomvel, are listed below.
Florida-based metallers TRIVIUM will release their ninth album, "What The Dead Men Say", on April 24 via Roadrunner Records. The LP will be the follow-up to "The Sin And The Sentence", which came out in October 2017. That effort marked the band's first release with drummer Alex Bent, who joined TRIVIUM in 2016.
The official music video for the first single from "What The Dead Men Say", for a song called "Catastrophist", can be seen below.
"'What The Dead Men Say' is everything that is TRIVIUM," explains guitarist/vocalist Matt Heafy. "On this album, one can hear the proper ingredients of past, present, and future TRIVIUM. The TRIVIUM sound is having everything the band does — on one album."
"With the new album, we took what worked on the 'The Sin And The Sentence' and dialed it all up to 11," says bassist Paolo Gregoletto.
Guitarist Corey Beaulieu echoes that sentiment, saying: "We wanted to build on the foundation that we established with the last album. The record has all the elements that are TRIVIUM — along with all of us wanting to keep pushing ourselves creatively. This led to a highly-inspired and fast-paced writing and recording process that really captures the energy of the band."

"We had a blast with Josh" during the making of "The Sin And The Sentence", he said. "Once we worked with him and became friends with him, his personality and his vibe and energy is the perfect combo with how we are as a band and how we like to work and how we like the vibe of making a record. He fit right in."
TRIVIUM will support MEGADETH and LAMB OF GOD on a 55-date North American tour, which will be split into two legs. The first leg of the tour kicks off June 12 at Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, Virginia, and wraps August 1 at the Concord Pavilion in Concord, California. The second run launches October 2 at iTHINK Financial Amphitheater in West Palm Beach, Florida, and runs through November 13 at the Reno Events Center in Reno, Nevada.
