Southern California melodic death metal quintet, Voices Of Ruin, unveils “I Am God”, the first taste of their forthcoming third album (and M-Theory Audio debut) Path To Immortality. A lyric video for the track, designed by Rafael Ortega of Ecliptic Visions (The Absence, Helsott), can be seen below.
“I Am God” can now be streamed on Spotify, Apple Music and other digital platforms. In addition, the song is downloadable instantly with all digital pre-orders of Path To Immortality. Physical pre-orders for the album - which was produced by Machine Head guitarist Logan Mader (Gojira, Septicflesh) and includes a cover of the Foo Fighters' “Everlong” - are available on compact disc and limited-edition splatter vinyl via Bandcamp and the M-Theory Audio webshop. The cover artwork by Par Olofsson (Exodus, Immortal, Revocation) is pictured below.
Says vocalist Dave Barrett, “We are stoked to release 'I Am God' as the first look into our upcoming album. This song’s an absolute ripper with shreddy guitars and aggressive verse. The lyrical content tells the story of a demon taking control of this universe and beyond, which is brilliantly captured by Par's artwork. Rafael did an amazing job piecing together this lyric video to flow with the song - kudos!”
Adds guitarist Tom Barrett, “It was difficult to choose a single because all of the songs turned out killer, but we felt that 'I Am God' was a good place to start. It tips the hat to classic melodic death metal while also incorporating thrash elements and a crushing production, and it's a furious track that represents the intensity of the album. We think it's by far our strongest material to date, and we can't wait to unleash it in April!”
Voices Of Ruin - who describe their sound as an epically-crafted blend of classic heavy metal and modern death metal that also pays homage to the traditional Scandinavian melodic death metal sound - have performed extensively in support of their two self-released albums, 2010's Into Oblivion and 2015's Born From The Dark. In addition to winning the US Wacken Metal Battle in 2018 - when they bested dozens of unsigned groups to earn the chance to perform at the world's largest annual heavy metal festival - the group has toured Europe with Internal Bleeding and Sacrificial Slaughter; supported Vader across North America on the 2017 Strike Of The Empire tour; played in Japan alongside Vader and Hate; and performed extensively in Southern California alongside a number of notable acts, including Morbid Angel, Trivium, Devildriver, Dark Tranquillity, Amorphis, Cattle Decapitation, Dying Fetus and Origin.
For the past six years, Voices Of Ruin have also organized the annual Ruinfest festival, a celebration of California's extreme metal scene that has featured the likes of Fallujah, Exmortus, Pessimist, Skeletal Remains, Helsott and Letum Ascensus. The band will return to the stage in their native Orange County alongside Insomnium and Omnium Gatherum in Santa Ana, California on April 3.

Bay Area natives, Aenimus, have released a music video for "Between Iron And Silver", off the band's most recent offering, Dreamcatcher. Watch below.
Seth Stone comments,"We are happy to premiere our music video for 'Between Iron And Silver'. The idea behind the video was to create a dance that showed passion, struggle and intensity between two dancers to metaphorically represent the relationship between Dr. Hannibal Lecter and Clarice Starling from the novel and hit movie Hannibal.
"The lyrical concept of 'Between Iron And Silver' is a letter from Dr. Lecter to Clarice expressing his obsession for her, the spell he has over her and his desire for Clarice to 'Join me in the darks of hell.' We sought out the help and immense skills of Joe Ferreira and Dahiana Oliver to create and perform a powerful dance routine to retell this story. The two absolutely captured my vision and beyond, utilizing their background in tango and contemporary dance. It’s not common that two things on the opposite side of the spectrum like tango and death metal can come together to create something so powerful and beautiful, but I feel that as a team we accomplished that very thing and I hope you enjoy the video as much as we did creating it for you all."
The band also announces the departure of guitarist Sean Swafford and the introduction of Greg Paulson as the new guitarist.
Aenimus comments, "With the release of the video you will notice the absence of guitarist Sean Swafford. Unfortunately, Sean is not able to tour anymore and since touring is so important to the success of bands these days, Sean made the decision to step down from Aenimus. We all have the highest respect and love for Sean and are so thankful to have had him be apart of Aenimus all these years. With that, we have the pleasure of welcoming Greg Paulson into the band. He is both an incredible guitarist and has been an absolute pleasure to tour with this last year. We are very excited about the new music him and Jordan have been writing together recently and are confident he will be a great addition to Aenimus."
Sean Swafford comments, "It is with a heavy heart that I announce my departure from Aenimus. I want to be clear that this split was amicable. I am at a point in my life where touring is not possible any longer. This breaks my heart. I’ve put in more than half of my life to make this my sole endeavor. I have made huge strides and I’m grateful for those opportunities. I’ve made lifelong friends that I would’ve otherwise never met. I will continue to make music since it’s still so much fun. Thanks to everyone that has supported me to get to this point.
"I would like to give thanks to my parents for always encouraging me, housing me on tour and supporting me at shows. Thanks to my band mates for allowing me in the band and, specifically, Seth for always finding ways to keep this band afloat. Thanks to the many people that have housed us on tour. Thanks to Gerardo and Nuclear Blast for always being so generous and putting faith in us. Most of all, thanks to the fans for helping remind me why I did it in the first place. This won’t be the last you hear from me. Cheers to a new chapter."
Greg Paulson states, "I am thrilled to be officially joining Aenimus as the new guitarist! I have big shoes to fill, but am very grateful for this opportunity. After having done 2 tours with the band, I realized how well we connect musically. We have begun the writing process for an epic new record, and have a lot more exciting news to come. See you guys on the road!"

British-American rockers, Foreigner, performed hits and told stories in front of a Los Angeles audience at the Sirius XM studios, hosted by original MTV VJ and Sirius XM host, Alan Hunter. Watch them perform their classic hit "Feels Like The First Time", first released in 1977 on the band's eponymous debut album, below:
During the event, guitarist Mick Jones revealed he was once the opening act for The Beatles.
“I was fortunate enough to play on the same bill as them in Paris when I was a mere youngster,” he says. “And I got to hang out with them for a week. It was the Olympia theatre in Paris in 1964. I was playing with a French artist, a girl. I had recently bought a guitar on credit and it was my prize possession. It was my first Les Paul. What would happen was when we finished our set, the Beatles would come running on and the curtain would fall. One evening the curtain snagged my guitar and pulled me down on the floor. I was cursing in English and John Lennon said “he lad, I thought you were a frog. We didn’t realize you were English. Come and have a drink with the boys afterwards.” I can still hear those words - “come and have a drink with the boys.”
Aether Realm takes the next step! After signing with Napalm Records in 2018, the four-piece from North Carolina is ready to unleash their newest multi-faceted full-length, Redneck Vikings From Hell, to be released on May 1. The new album will take you on a stupefying rollercoaster ride of death metal, thrash and even neo-classical shred. With their new album, the band improves upon their already distinctive sound that’s been astonishing fans since day one.
Today, Aether Realm has revealed a brand new music video for their new jaw-dropping single, “Goodbye”, a song that will be stuck in your head all day. Escalating aesthetically into an unmistakably catchy, electronic-influenced chorus, the futuristic video harmonizes breathtaking neon visuals of the clip and the heaviness of the song in an even more spectacular way.
Frontman Vincent "Jake" Jones says about the track: "It's hard to leave people we care about. But something hasn't felt right for a while. We dance around it and put it off as long as we can; 'But maybe this time we can change, but maybe this time we'll make it work' - sometimes you just know it's time to say "Goodbye"."
Watch the video below.
Redneck Vikings From Hell not only cements Aether Realm as a band to watch, but will also have listeners questioning just what exactly they can’t do. Each track on Redneck Vikings From Hell is entirely distinct, setting the stage by playing upon the band’s southern roots with the banjo-laden epic folk metal-inspired title track “Redneck Vikings From Hell”. Meanwhile, the first single “Goodbye” and center-cuts like the thrashy, unwavering “Lean Into The Wind”, the powerful anthem “Hunger” and symphonic brutality banger “Slave To The Riff” provide a weightier sample of the unconventional stylings of Aether Realm 3.0. Otherworldly closing track “Craft And The Creator” drives it all home, showcasing each individual band member's infallible technical skills and featuring hair-raising leads that would make any guitar god blush. The album is strung together by colossal orchestral elements that lift the band to new heights.
Vincent "Jake" Jones comments: “We really didn't want to make Tarot two with this album, not because we don't like it or anything but because we've already done that. So, when I found myself with this chorus for the title track, I just couldn't get it out of my head. We intentionally kept the songs short and dense, and allowed ourselves enough variety between topics to explore that space between how we present ourselves and who we actually are. We're four North Carolina boys - we like epic, bombastic metal, and the only thing to stop us from combining these elements of ourselves musically is our own attachment to the conventions of the genre.”
Redneck Vikings From Hell will be available in the following formats:
- 1 CD Digipak
- LP Gatefold BLACK
- Digital Album
- 100 Piece Exclusive Napalm Gold Vinyl

Novena, the new progressive metal/rock act from the UK including the frontmen Ross Jennings, also of Haken, and Gareth Mason, also of Slice The Cake, have released a video for "Sun Dance", a song from their upcoming Frontiers Music Srl debut, Eleventh Hour, out on March 6.
The new video is a product of a close collaboration with The Cathy Waller Dance Company and filmmaker Neil Monaghan, "Sun Dance" is a passionate, dynamic and intense piece of contemporary dance, at once romantic as it is violent, telling the story of two colossal forces intertwined a battle of wills. With soaring harmony vocals, an infectious rolling groove, and melodic guitar lines, "Sun Dance" shows off another stroke of what to expect from Eleventh Hour.
Pre-order the new album and stream the singles here.
Novena exploits fully the world class skills of their talented line-up: Ross Jennings’ (Halen) unmatchable voice, to Gareth Mason’s (Slice The Cake) inimitable poetry; Dan Thornton’s (ex-Haarp Machine, ex-No Sin Evades His Gaze) blistering guitar work, to Cameron Spence’s (Ravenface) invariably musical drumming, deeply rooted in pop idiom, and unlike anything else in the modern prog scene; from Moat Lowe’s (Slugdge, Ex-NSEHG) expressive and versatile bass playing to Harrison White’s (Theatrical Director and Composer) complex and nuanced compositions. Novena delivers something greater than the sum of its parts.
Novena established themselves on the UK and international prog scenes in 2016 with the release of their widely praised experimental EP Secondary Genesis in 2016 and is now ready for a comeback with their sophomore release, Eleventh Hour. Performing at high profile concerts like UK-Tech Fest 2016 and 2017, as well as other dates supporting Skyharbor, Vola, Sithu Aye, and others, Novena has been busy establishing themselves as a force to be reckoned with.
“Eleventh Hour is an exploration of twilight, a dance in the space between life and death, a collection of swan songs from people real or imagined. Something that connects us all as human beings is the inevitability of death, and yet we all have our own totally unique experiences of it. Those who have experienced it can never share their stories. Those who have not, cannot contemplate it; all we can do is ask questions and tell stories. 'Eleventh Hour' follows the last days of several characters who, whilst separated by space and time, are connected by something greater," says White.
Novena’s music moves from the profound to the profane, from the fragile to the unforgiving, and from the introspective to the utterly destructive, exploring a plethora of different genres along the way. Despite this, every song has a solid and personal identity, with choruses that dare the listener to try and not forget them.
Fans of intelligent, engaging, emotional music will have much to indulge their mind and spirits in with this band. Novena are ready to embark on a tour in support to the spring release of the new album. Dates forthcoming.
One of Denmark’s hardest touring bands, Freddy And The Phantoms, has premiered their new single and video for “River Of Hate” through BraveWords! The track, featuring a guest solo from Danish guitar play Soren Andersen, is taken from the band’s upcoming album, A Universe From Nothing, due for release April 24 through Mighty Music.
"‘River Of Hate’ is a picture of how politicians and the media feeds on promoting fear, hatred and dividing people into us and them. Trump is the leader of the current movement - the king of lies and deceit,” vocalist/guitarist Freddy Schnoor comments.
On Freddy And The Phantom's fifth album, A Universe From Nothing, the band embark on a new epic chapter in the history they have been writing over the past decade. The door to the future is open and the band now finds itself in a dystopian and dangerous universe, where the threat of doom is constantly lurking in the shadows. There is no easy answer to the highly conceptual new album, which has been inspired by both Dante's The Divine Comedy, Stephen Hawking's A Brief History of Time, and the world's current climate crisis. These heavy themes have also resulted in a heavier and tougher musical expression. A musical transformation that has sent the band into a heavy and sci-fi-rock universe, but without leaving their basic DNA of blues music behind.
"The Road" is the new single and video by ex-White Lion and Freak Of Nature frontman Mike Tramp, premiered exclusively through BraveWords! The track is taken from his upcoming new album Second Time Around, out May 1 worldwide through Mighty Music.
Tramp comments on the song: "Life is a journey, where you travel an endless highway that goes up and down and in and out. It is here you find out who you are and what you are made of. Where you make decisions of where you’re going and where you are not. When you come to the end of the journey and you look back at The Road you’ve traveled. No matter the good or the bad. You always want to do it again, and that is my commitment to rock ‘n’ roll.”
Tramp recently revealed that he will be doing a 100% vintage Songs Of White Lion set while on tour this year. Check out the post below.
Dates for the tour have now been confirmed. It will kick off on April 15th at the Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood, CA. The show will consist of all the White Lion hits, including "When The Children Cry", "Little Fighter”, "Wait", "Lady Of The Valley", "Radar Love" and many others.
Tramp: "The ultimate reward in being a songwriter and performer, is being on stage in front of an audience. This is my sixth tour over the past eight years and never before I have looked so much forward to giving back to the fans who have been there every time I hit the stage. This will be great."

Semblant will release their Frontiers Music Srl debut, Obscura, on March 6. Pre-order here, and watch a video for the album opener, "Murder Of Crows", below.
One of the rapidly rising stars of their scene in South America, Semblant is more than ready for the world stage. The band received international praise from the metal community with the release of the album Lunar Manifesto (2014), with the singles "What Lies Ahead", "Dark Of The Day," and "Incinerate" combining for more than 30 million views on YouTube. Now, Semblant are ready for the next phase of their career with the upcoming release of the highly anticipated album, Obscura.
The band formed in 2006 in Curitiba, Brazil when singer Sergio Mazul and keyboardist J. Augusto joined forces to create music that featured all the dark and aggressive elements they appreciated and loved in metal music. After a few years of changing line-ups, the group established itself with the addition of Mizuho Lin (female vocals), Juliano Ribeiro (guitar), Welyntom "Thor" Sikora (drums), and Johann Piper (bass) to the band.
Vocalist Mizuho Lin says, "It's an honor to be part of such a traditional label like Frontiers. We've been composing and preparing ourselves for at least two years to finally get 'Obscura' ready and we're super excited to begin this new era working together with the label!"
Singer Sergio Mazul adds. "We're really excited to start this amazing new era of Semblant with Frontiers. Besides my doom, gothic, thrash and death influences, I'm a great enthusiast of all kinds of hard rock and heavy metal, having collected a lot of titles released by the label. They've been doing amazing work worldwide with new bands and Semblant will surely figure as a new jolt of energy to Frontiers' roster, with our dark and more extreme influences in our songs. And we're sure that Frontiers will make the same for us, taking the band to another level. 'Obscura' will strike the world in 2020 and we're counting the days to introduce our new album to everyone!"

Thanatos are celebrating 35 years of fully dedicated fierce death fuckin' thrash metal. Admittedly, they absolutely still sound incredibly and accurately relevant to today's metal scene, thanks to their utterly implacable material. Saying their seventh album, Violent Death Rituals, sounds removed from their original early Slayer, Possessed, Kreator influences would be a mistake. They have undoubtedly honed their vehemently powerful sound over the years to become a purely individual relentless machine.
Their uncompromising new album, Violent Death Rituals is just pure catchy madness, Thanatos thoughtfully pace their songs for maximum ferocious headbanging folly, their furiously sharp arrangements contain so many well balanced acute melodies and enough murderous riffing to crush any fan in genuine extreme metal music history. Fuckin' Hell awaits in 2020.
Violent Death Rituals will be released in Europe on March 20, and in North America on April 3, via Listenable Records. Pre-order the album here, and watch a video for the track "The Silent War" below.

Joe Satriani's new video for "Nineteen Eighty", the first single from his forthcoming studio album, "Shapeshifting", can be seen below. The clip was shot and directed by Satriani's son, ZZ Satriani, who also filmed, edited, directed and produced the critically acclaimed documentary film "Beyond The Supernova" in addition to work with Sammy Hagar. Set in a soundstage as well as featuring clips from the new album's recording session, the video conveys the nostalgic feelings for the retro sounds of the song. "Nineteen Eighty" finds Satriani spiritually revisiting the time period when he was working with his first band, THE SQUARES. The future guitar hero would have to wait for his time, and the world came to know his name less than a decade later.
"The year that 'American Gigolo', 'The Shining', 'Raging Bull' and 'Caddyshack' came out, I just wanted to rock. 'Nineteen Eighty' is my high-energy throwback instrumental soundtrack to that year," explains Satriani. He recalls that in those early days, they "dialed back the guitar solos and histrionics to try to create a cooler new wave vibe." Now decades removed from those early goals, Satriani was free to go forward and recapture what was on his mind in 1980.
Set for release on April 10 via Sony Music/Legacy Recordings, "Shapeshifting" was co-produced by Satriani and Jim Scott (FOO FIGHTERS, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, TOM PETTY & THE HEARTBREAKERS) with longtime associate John Cuniberti on board handling the mastering duties. Satriani enlisted a wide range of collaborators, both old and new, to help him bring the songs to life. Legendary drummer Kenny Aronoff (John Fogerty), bassist Chris Chaney (JANE'S ADDICTION) and keyboardist Eric Caudieux were the core musicians on the new album, with additional contributions coming from Lisa Coleman (THE REVOLUTION) and Christopher Guest.

PEARL JAM has unveiled the music video for its new single "Superblood Wolfmoon". The song is the latest single to be released from the group's anxiously awaited new album, "Gigaton", arriving March 27 via Monkeywrench Records/Republic Records.
PEARL JAM teamed up with D.I.Y. animator Keith Ross — renowned for his homegrown @TinyConcert Instagram channel. The channel has become popular for "bite-sized animated music videos" drawn with a ballpoint pen and harnessing the punk energy and imagination of the songs.
Popular for animating excerpts of songs, this marks the first time Keith delivered a video that runs the entire duration of a track. The black-and-white visual intercuts a stunning vision of the moon with hand-drawn clips of the band performing. The animated counterparts capture each respective member's spirit as the track reflects the adventurous and arresting spirit of "Superblood Wolfmoon".
Produced by Josh Evans and PEARL JAM, "Gigaton" marks the band's first studio album since Grammy Award-winning "Lightning Bolt", which was released on October 15, 2013.

"Making this record was a long journey," says Mike McCready. "It was emotionally dark and confusing at times, but also an exciting and experimental road map to musical redemption. Collaborating with my bandmates on 'Gigaton' ultimately gave me greater love, awareness and knowledge of the need for human connection in these times."
"Gigaton"'s cover features Canadian photographer, filmmaker, and marine biologist Paul Nicklen's photo "Ice Waterfall." Taken in Svalbard, Norway, this image features the Nordaustlandet ice cap gushing high volumes of meltwater.
In support of "Gigaton", PEARL JAM will embark on their first leg of North American tour dates in March and April. The 16-date tour kicks off on March 18 in Toronto, hits the "Fabulous" Forum on April 15 and April 16, and wraps with a two-date stint in Oakland April 18 and April 19.
PEARL JAM's North American tour is in addition to the band's previously announced European summer tour.

Who would dare challenge the status of Kirk Hammett as King of the Cry Baby Wah Pedal? His reign has long been undisputed and recognized by millions of fans the world over, not to mention Wah manufacturers, Jim Dunlop Guitar Products, who feature a Kirk Hammett Signature model. Last year, the gauntlet was thrown down by a most unlikely challenger... Mrs. Smith!
New York City-based philanthropist, emerging guitar goddess, and lover of all cats (as well as some people), Mrs. Smith has dared to proclaim that she is, in fact, the #1 Abuser of the Wah. Kirk has accepted her challenge, and now these two will finally go head to head (foot to foot?) in a Cry Baby Battle Royale for the ages on March 8 at The Senate in Columbia, SC.

Frontiers Music Srl has announced the signing of SMACKBOUND to a multi-album deal.
SMACKBOUND is a metal band from Helsinki, Finland featuring the multi-talented vocalist and actress Netta Laurenne, who founded the group in 2015. Guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari (WINTERSUN) was the first to connect with Netta in the band and they were soon joined by Rolf Pilve (STRATOVARIUS, WINTERSUN) on drums, Vili Itäpelto (TRACEDAWN) on keyboards, and Tuomas Yli-Jaskari (TRACEDAWN) on bass.
"I am so happy to belong to the Frontiers family," says Laurenne. "SMACKBOUND was looking for a deal and wanted to partner with someone who shows true passion in working with us. After several months of discussions, we agreed that Frontiers was the right label for us. The journey is just beginning. Thanks for walking with us."
Soon after its formation, SMACKBOUND started crafting its own songs while simultaneously forming a cover band, RUN FOR COVER, to begin developing their live chemistry without delay. Songs came together quickly and the band debuted with a string of successful videos and singles, including "Drive It Like You Stole It", "Wall Of Silence" and "Run", which caught the attention of Frontiers A&R team, who are always on the hunt for the best emerging talent. After immediately being floored by these three songs, Frontiers reached out to the band to begin conversations, which ultimately culminated in a deal being struck. The three aforementioned singles will be included on the band's debut album, "20/20", which is expected to be released worldwide in early May.
"We wanted to make metal mixed with all the goodies we love in music, yet you can't beat the force and energy of metal. That's why we brought everything to it," says Netta. She adds about the album title: "The name reflects the message of the whole album. It's time for us all to have 20/20 vision. We wanna get to the bottom of things and cut the bullshit. We show ourselves in the good and the bad, both vulnerable and angry, and ask for honesty and integrity in return. We do this with unconditional love and by not having lost faith in the world. We call out for the truth."
"20/20" was recorded at Sonic Pump Studios, produced by the band, and mixed and mastered by Jesse Vainio (SUNRISE AVENUE, APOCALYPTICA, POETS OF THE FALL).
Swiss hard rockers, Shakra, have released a video for "Fireline", the opening track of their upcoming album, Mad World, to be released on February 28 via AFM Records. Watch below, and pre-order the album here.
For a quarter of a century, Shakra has been part of the music circus. Only someone who's been in a band before, knows how fragile and exhausting this kind of social fabric is. 25 years is a very long time and only a few acts can make this distance. Shakra made it and it doesn't look like they'll give up sometime soon. Quite the contrary.
Guitarist, Thom Blunier, points out: "I'm extremely proud and thankful, that this band is stil existing after 25 years of rock 'n' roll. Those of you who have a clue the difficulties of existing as a band know, how precious and exceptional this is. I am ready for the next 25 years!"

"When He Comes Around"
"Thousand Kings"
"I Still Rock"
