Former JOURNEY vocalist Steve Perry has released the official music video for his latest solo single, "No More Cryin'". The song is taken from "Traces", his first solo album in more than two decades, which will be released on October 5 via Fantasy Records (a division of Concord Records/UMG). Co-written by Perry and Dan Wilson (SEMISONIC, ADELE), the track is a soulful reflection on isolation and love.
Perry states: "'No More Cryin'' is a love song, but not in the way you would think. It starts in one place, and builds and lands somewhere entirely different. It's got many overtones, and can be applied to so many different kinds of relationships, including my own relationship with past isolation."
"Traces" marks Perry's first solo album since 1994's "For The Love Of Strange Medicine", which was certified gold in the U.S. for sales in excess of half a million copies.
Perry told "Scott Shannon In The Morning" about his decision to step away from music for more than two decades: "The band was really, really fortunate to be successful, and at some point, I got a little bit toasty, a little burned out, and coupled with a serious touring schedule, and, like I said, being crispy, and back in the day, we all had a little bit of what we might call 'extra party behaviors,' maybe — and when you put the 'party behaviors' together with a little bit burned out, I was toast.
"It was an unpopular decision I came up with at the time, which was just to stop," he continued. "And I told the band, and they were not happy about it. But the biggest thing I was really concerned with was the fans. Because I knew it was gonna be a painful decision for me to walk away, but sometimes you just have to take care of yourself, even if it hurts to do so — you have to do that."
Asked if he planned on being gone for so long, Perry replied: "I did not plan to be gone so long. But once I stopped, there was something great about just stopping. I went back to my hometown and hung out with friends. I rode my motorcycle on these country roads on the outskirts of Fresno, where I was born and raised, and I've gotta tell you — there was something cathartic about just stopping."
Perry reiterated a previous comment he made about wanting "to be a person again" after his exit from JOURNEY. "I think that's pretty accurate," he said. "I just wanted to step out of the limelight. Being successful in a band like that, it was like… I know it sounds a little bit self-serving, but it really was kind of like circling the earth — you're kind of up there, you've gotta come down, you've gotta land, you've gotta touch down, you've gotta go back to your hometown and just be you, not the guy that was on the stage every night.
"But I must tell you — did I miss it? It was terrible!" he admitted. "It was a detox in its own way, you know? Because the adoration of the fans every night and the applause and being able to live the dream…. 'Cause I came from a small town, and it was a dream to get in the music business to start with, but to be able to be successful like JOURNEY was, it was a dream come true, so walking was tough."

Perry's final full concert with JOURNEY took place in early 1987. He later rejoined his bandmates for a brief performance in 1991 to honor late concert promoter Bill Graham. He also appeared with JOURNEY when they received a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame in 2005.
The singer was inducted, alongside his old band, at the 2017 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame ceremony in Brooklyn, New York.
Video footage of Swedish doom metal legends CANDLEMASS rehearsing their classic song "Solitude" with newly returned singer Johan Längqvist can be seen below.
CANDLEMASS announced yesterday that it had parted ways with Mats Levén and reteamed with Längqvist.
Längqvist sang on CANDLEMASS's debut album, 1986's "Epicus Doomicus Metallicus", before exiting the group and being replaced by Messiah Marcolin.
Commented CANDLEMASS: "We wanted to find our way back to the roots of CANDLEMASS, back to the soul and essence of the band. Johan Längqvist is back and we hope this will give us some new energy and kickstart the heart of doom again. We don't know if it will last 10 more years or even five, but if it will give us just another year of having fun and playing the music that we love so much, it will be a blast! The circle is closed, Johan is back!"
Levén, who had been with CANDLEMASS since 2012, added in a separate statement: "First, let me salute all the fans in Europe, South/Latin America, North America and Japan for coming to our shows during the last six years. It's been a true privilege and joy playing for you all — thank you! Also, a big thanks to our crew, promotors and every musician filling in whenever it was necessary. I especially want to mention Per Wiberg (bass/keyboards) who's done quite a few CANDLEMASS shows and also been a splendid roommate — thanks amigo."
CANDLEMASS is currently recording a new studio album for a tentative 2019 release.
A new CANDLEMASS track, "House Of Doom", was released on May 25 as an EP with three bonus cuts via Napalm Records. The song is the soundtrack of the game with the same name, which was co-designed by the legendary Swedish doom metal band.
The "House Of Doom" soundtrack was written by CANDLEMASS bassist Leif Edling, produced by Marcus Jidell, mixed by David Castillo and mastered by Maor Appelbaum.
CANDLEMASS's most recent full-length album, "Psalms For The Dead", came out in 2012 via Napalm Records. It was the last CANDLEMASS album recorded with singer Robert Lowe, who left the band just days before its release.

"Hydrograd" was recorded at Sphere Studios in North Hollywood, California with producer Jay Ruston, who has previously worked with ANTHRAX and STEEL PANTHER.
STONE SOUR drummer Roy Mayorga told Topeka's rock station V100 about the making of "Hydrograd": "It came about pretty natural. It's just a collective of everyone. A lot of it was written together, live at my house. We demoed all of it at my studio at my house and just kind of pieced everything together there. We did five or six songs at a time, and every three months we'd get back together and do it that way. Corey [Taylor, vocals] would bring in some songs; Josh [Rand, guitar] would bring in some songs; Christian [Martucci, guitar] brought in a lot of stuff; I would submit some riffs to Christian and he would put 'em together… We wrote about, I'd say, 28 to 30 [songs], and we whittled it down to what you hear. You write as many as you can, you write the best songs you can, and then just pick from there."
STONE SOUR is supporting Ozzy Osbourne on the initial North American leg of the legendary vocalist's "No More Tours 2" tour, which kicked off August 30 in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

This is the heart and soul of this band and symphonic metal. We are proud and excited that after over four years we put out the best 10 tracks the band has to offer. This is VISIONS OF ATLANTIS — this is symphonic metal!"

"The Deep & The Dark" was made available as a deluxe box set, CD digipak and digital download.
Hauntingly beautiful duets between vocalists supreme Clémentine Delauney and Siegfried Samer meet classic power metal infusions, embodying the symphonic metal cake: a must-have for all genre-fans and beyond! With "The Deep & The Dark", VISIONS OF ATLANTIS created its most powerful and perfectly executed magnum opus to date.
Clémentine told Metal Underground about the disc: "We all do believe this is the best album the band has ever released. We went back to a more melodic and symphonic metal style with an old-school touch and a production that suits the genre. We wrote diversified songs with rich arrangements using many different influences [and] I was finally able to take part in the creative process. I wrote many of the vocal lines, most of the lyrics together with Siegfried, and I wrote the last song of the album, 'Prayer To The Lost'. So, for the first time, I'm able to release really personal material and to sing about things that deeply matter to me. I've been waiting for this since I joined my first band in 2010."
In a separate interview with Distorted Sound, Clémentine spoke in more detail about the songwriting process for "The Deep & The Dark". "I feel more comfortable when I am writing lyrics when I have a melody because as a singer, it's easier to have a melody so you can let the words come out," she said. "Depending on the notes, I can see which one is more natural to sing an 'a,' another vowel or a specific word that contains a letter like a 'c' or a 't' where I know to project the sound. So, you have singing tricks that someone doesn't normally think about and sometimes, not necessarily in our music, in general the words match so well with the melody because they were created together. I like to make sure the words match the melody so it's easier for me to know the strength of the melody first and then I can shape the words and lyrics nicely to the melody rather than have a text that gets put on top of a melody, as that is difficult."
Five years since the release of their last album, in response to fans' keen anticipation, Taiwanese metallers CHTHONIC announced their new album "Battlefields Of Asura" last month. Today, CHTHONIC has dropped the music video for first track "Millennia's Faith Undone", featuring Hong Kong singer Denise Ho, and announced a festival appearance in Japan.
Doris Yeh, the spokesperson and bassist in CHTHONIC, states that "Millennia's Faith Undone" was inspired by the era of radical change in the history of Taiwan between the '30s and the '50s, also as the prequel to their albums of story series. Birdy, the director of the music video, set the narrative after the stores in their previous music videos of "Defenders Of Bú-Tik Palace" (acoustic version) and "Kaoru" (acoustic version). With an out-of-body experience, the main character sees the White Terror victims' lives taken away by the dictators, and eventually himself being executed by shooting; all was left is his last will and testament overwhelmed in the mass of historical documents. Birdy recruited the crew and the lead actor and actress, Finn and Chia-Yu Chang, from the shoot for "Defenders Of Bú-Tik Palace" (acoustic version) and "Kaoru" (acoustic version) four years ago. Meanwhile, Doris also announced on Ho's fan page the release of the music video of The Aeon's version of "Millennia's Faith Undone" at the end of the month; the story will be told from the perspective of the lead female character. Although Birdy's interpretation and idea might not be exactly the same as CHTHONIC's narrative in the album, Doris found the process of re-interpretation of a piece from different artists a rewarding surprise.
CHTHONIC has also announced that its will play at the No Maps music festival in Japan on October 12. No Maps is a festival of a conglomerate of music, movies and technologies with its increasing importance as one of the most crucial events in the Japanese music industry. Moreover, as an event co-hosted by the Japanese government, private organizations and educational institutes, No Maps holds a significance in Taiwan-Japan interchange and liaison as well. Freddy Lim, the frontman of CHTHONIC, therefore decided to make time from their busy schedule flying to Japan over the weekend for the festival. This show is also highly anticipated by Japanese fans as it will be the only overseas stop for the tour for the new album from CHTHONIC.
"Battlefields Of Asura" track listing:
01. Drawing Omnipotence Nigh
02. The Silent One's Torch
03. Flames Upon The Weeping Winds
04. A Crimson Sky's Command
05. Souls Of The Revolution
06. Taste The Black Tears
07. One Thousand Eyes
08. Masked Faith
09. Carved In Bloodstone
10. Millennia's Faith Undone
11. Autopoiesis
According to CHTHONIC, "Battlefields Of Asura" depicts the adventure of deities in Taiwan through eleven songs carrying messages about resistance, freedom and fraternity. The journey is full of hostility, adversary, impregnable fortresses and desires but also inspires infinite courage to search for eternal wisdom. Anyone deeply touched by this album will eventually realise that it is the origin of all thrilling epic stories portrayed in the past albums. This album sounds like gods versus devils and fights among evil spirits on the surface; however, everyone can feel the empathy of fury, grief and even strength of resurgence from the lyrics.
When asked why the band named the new album "Battlefields Of Asura", Doris Yeh, the spokesperson of CHTHONIC, stated that "this album is the prologue of the albums released in the past and was inspired by and dedicated to the activists of Taiwan's first modern political reform movement back in 1920s."
DRESS THE DEAD, the band featuring ex-FORBIDDEN guitarist Craig Locicero and WITCH MOUNTAIN singer Kayla Dixon, has released the official music video for the song "1969". The track was produced by MACHINE HEAD frontman Robb Flynn and was engineered and mixed by Zack Ohren at Sharkbite Studios.
Dixon was announced as DRESS THE DEAD's new vocalist in January. She joined the band as the replacement for former THE HAUNTED frontman Peter Dolving, who left DRESS THE DEAD in March 2017. The split happened only three months after DRESS THE DEAD — whose lineup also includes Mark Hernandez on drums, James Walker on bass and Dan Delay on guitar — played its first two shows at Slim's in San Francisco, California as the support act for DEATH ANGEL.
Kayla stated about the "1969" video: "In today's world, anyone can use social media to say just about anything. That is both a gift and a curse. We feel it is our duty as a band to use this platform that we have to touch people's hearts, minds and inspire actions. So, before you dig into this, I'll share a few of my thoughts with you.
"This video that you are about to watch is important in so many ways. With lyrics and vocals written by Peter Dolving (back when he was still in the band), this song's meaning runs deep and is still so easy to understand. That man truly has a way with words and I am so grateful to be able to help bring those words to life in this video.
"To love is to 'take as a part of oneself.' To take others best interests as your own.
"As I live my life, I can't help but notice a general absence of love for one another on this earth. Racism, sexism, selfishness, greed and narcissism among other negative elements run rampant in this world. Metal had always felt like a safe haven to me, then I started singing in bands. This meant that I was digging deeper and becoming more immersed in the metal community. Eventually, I discovered that this safe haven that I had put up on this pedestal was also infected with racism, sexism, exclusion and other forms of discrimination… almost as much the rest of this country.
"I have been blessed to work with such amazing and level-headed people in my career thus far. So much so, that this reality almost slipped under my radar. However, I can't sit back and ignore these truths. There is some black girl out there who wants to be a part of this community who isn't having as easy a time as I've had. That is why I choose to speak up.
"Less than sixty years ago, people of color in America couldn't even enter some of the same buildings as their white equals. As I sit here, holding that reality, many of my brothers and sisters are still being discriminated against. Why can't I open Facebook without seeing videos of horrible police brutality? Why does our 'President' shrug his shoulders? Why are so many of us ridiculed, looked over, and killed for simply existing? The bottom line? Being a person of color, different sexual orientation, or just being different in America today is HARD.
"Don't believe me? I don't care.
"It's been a long time coming and not much has changed.
"We are not here to change the minds of racists, misogynists and the willfully ignorant. If you have the capacity to hold those beliefs, then our music is not for you and I strongly encourage you to shield your eyes. Lest the truth hit you over the head like a ton of bricks!
"DRESS THE DEAD is here to rock and also inspire like-minded, kind, intelligent people to KEEP FIGHTING. Let this message be an inspiration to us to do everything in our power in our daily lives to make whatever difference we can. Now is not the time to disconnect from reality. NOW is the time to lead from the heart. If we're not constantly trying to make this life better for ourselves and others, then what the fuck are we doing except slowly dying?
"If you agree with us and want to join us in helping inspire some change, please share this video like crazy."
Kayla made her live debut with DRESS THE DEAD at the January 20 benefit concert for VIO-LENCE singer Sean Killian at The Midway in San Francisco, California.

Metal warriors on a holy quest, Toronto's AxMinister's new heavy metal pounder The Crucible Of Sin was unleashed this past May. Releasing their first music video "Prey" as part their planned 5-episode series, the band returns with their second instalment for their track "Salvation".
The 5-part series is a visual guide to tell the story of The Crucible Of Sin. All five episodes / music videos in the series were produced and directed by drummer Bas Majzoub (aka Bas von Bismark).
"Being a second generation filmmaker, I've been playing with film cameras since before my years reached double digits, and as such, I have a list of dream projects I want to film, from westerns to Sci-Fi. One such dream concept has always been a medieval sword fighting revenge tale, and leading up to the recording of our The Crucible Of Sin EP, I made the decision to pen and produce five videos, corresponding with the songs, and following one storyline, delivered as five episodes. I'm super excited to share my vision with our metal loving fans. Chronicling the story of a sword wielding warrior, hell-bent on bloody revenge after a deadly assault against his family, episode II, 'Salvation', is an action packed experience, that follows our reminiscing hero, as he tracks down those who murdered his children, and abducted his wife. It's a privilege to share this with the metal world at large, those new to the band, and the true metal warriors who've been following us so far!" - Bas
"Salvation" video:
"Prey" video:
The band comments: “Our EP The Crucible Of Sin sports a sense of humour. It tries to tell a… at times, nihilistic, story about love, lust, oppression, and redemption. Following every recording and show, we try to reflect on our own mistakes, and attempt to improve. We grew to understand our 90s thrash/traditional style of songwriting, and compose accordingly. This EP has that ‘90’s warm thrash sound akin to Megadeth’s Youthanasia album. We hope old and new audiences join us on a journey that is at times fictional, visual and imaginative, while other times introspective and contemplative. We like you to dance, head bang, and mosh to it.”
A video for "Purgatorio", the title track of Manimal's upcoming studio album, is available for streaming below.
A band needs plenty of exceptional compositional talent to record an album that sounds monolithic despite the fact that the individual songs ooze a wide range of different details and special features. Since its foundation in 2001, Manimal from Gothenburg have successfully mastered this feat for the third time.
Despite their loyalty to traditional influences their previous albums, The Darkest Room (2009) and Trapped In The Shadows (2015), were prime examples of modern and trend-setting power metal characterized by musical enthusiasm and new ideas. Their latest recording Purgatorio sees the four-piece take their outstanding qualities to the brink of perfection: Throughout their nine new songs the musicians pull out all the stops, presenting a number of different tempos and atmospheres and impressing with chorus parts that have true anthem potential.
“Our goal has always been to write songs that we love and believe in. The challenge is to make a song with strong hooks without being too predictable. It's just a bonus when we realize that people around the world seem to have the same good taste in music that we have,” jokes frontman Samuel Nyman.
As usual, Nyman is at the epicentre of this amazing album that features one highlight after the other. Inspired by Rob Halford, Geoff Tate and Michael Kiske, among others, his voice oozes aplomb and pure passion, blending perfectly with the intelligent songwriting, courtesy of guitarist Henrik Stenroos, a true riff icon whose hooks and licks provide the foundation for Manimal’s songs. Equally important for the group’s typical flair are drummer André Holmqvist and bassist Kenny Boufadene. Holmqvist has a tight, powerful drum style that comes surprisingly close to paragons such as Tommy Lee and Mike Portnoy and he also co-wrote the lyrics on Purgatorio with Nyman, while Boufadene was in charge of mixing the new album and also produces his band’s videos.
Blessed with such diverse talents, it’s hardly surprising that Manimal took the most important studio parameters into their own hands again during the production of Purgatorio. “Just like our previous two albums, we produced this one ourselves. Mainly because we like to have full control of the production. We’re control freaks to the bone and the thought of putting our creations into the hands of an external producer simply scares us,” Nyman confesses.
However, they took renowned support on board for some aspects: The drums were recorded by Jakob Herrmann (Anthrax, Europe, Machine Head, Evergrey) at the Top Floor Studios, the album was mastered by Tony Lindgren at Jens Bogren's famous Fascination Street Studios, and the cover artwork was designed by Claudio Bergamin (Judas Priest).
So Purgatorio impresses in every respect, from the first note of the opener "Black Plague" to the final sound of the last track, "The Fear Within". The title song and "Edge Of Darkness" see the band present their typical mélange of haunting melodies, classy grooves and that latent melancholia that is one of their typical trademarks. On the other hand there are a number of tracks which are unusual for Manimal, such as "Denial" featuring a riff that brings Rammstein to mind and "Spreading The Dread" with its remarkable rhythm.
Remains only one question to be answered: Why did Manimal decide on an Italian title? Nyman: “First, it’s the title of one of the strongest songs of the album. Second, it’s a powerful word that fits perfectly as the title of a metal album in general and this recording in particular. For me, it reflects the state of mankind and the world today - the general, ongoing decay which we seem to lack the ability to stop. Many of the lyrics on the album circle around that kind of theme. Purgatorio is also the original title of the second part of great Dante Alighieri’s masterpiece The Divine Comedy. It’s not the first time that we’ve found inspiration in that specific work of literature.”
Purgatorio will be released on September 7th via AFM Records.

STONE SOUR played a short acoustic set Friday afternoon (August 31) on the stage in the parking lot of the Zippo/Case Museum in Bradford, Pennsylvania. The event was part of the company's Zippo Sessions, exclusive, intimate acoustic sessions with some of the hottest bands playing at the major festivals that the Zippo Encore booth attends.
STONE SOUR kicked off its performance with "Song #3", off the band's latest album, "Hydrograd". The group then played "Miracles", from "Audio Secrecy"; "Wicked Game", a Chris Isaak cover; "Through Glass", from "Come What(ever) May"; and finished with "Rose Red Violet Blue (This Song is Dumb & So Am I)" , from "Hydrograd".
STONE SOUR drummer Roy Mayorga told The Bradford Era that it was "an honor and privilege" to play in Bradford, "to see the [Zippo] factory and to meet all the people inside that helped develop lighters and helped develop our lighters, as well. So, we're fully thankful for that. To just play this show for everyone in town is pretty awesome … great energy out there."
Senior Zippo brand manager Lucas Johnson said: "Being on tour and at huge rock festivals with STONE SOUR over the past few months has been amazing, but bringing the band here to Zippo's hometown and sharing Zippo Sessions with the whole Zippo and Case family and community has been the icing on the cake."
"Hydrograd" was released as a deluxe edition on August 31. The two-disc set, "Hydrograd Deluxe Edition", collects unreleased covers, b-sides, live recordings and alternate versions of songs from "Hydrograd". The deluxe edition is highlighted by "Burn One Turn One", a previously unreleased b-side from "Hydrograd".

On September 14th, the British supreme doom trio Conan will release their new record Existential Void Guardian. Before the full power of this new monster hits you, their new single "Volt Thrower" and its video give you a taste of what will await you. Check out this 4 minute spacey masterpiece of doom, low tuning and surrealism below.
If troglodytes could have gotten their paws on a Fuzzthrone or other fuzz pedals.. they would have probably bashed each other's skulls in. Conan on the other hand use these beautiful tools to wrench the maximum out of their legendary caveman battle doom: could there be a more monolithic opener than "Prosper On The Path"? Narp. The British trio presents a tar monster named Existential Void Guardian that seems even more menacing as soon as it gets high on its own downtuned groove frenzy. Two years after the remarkable Revengeance, Conan once more leave us baffled with a previously unknown side to dual vocal sludge - behold the painful melody splinters "Eye To Eye To Eye" leaves behind or the insane grind intermezzo that is "Paincantation". True beauty lies in dissonance, and it always will.

Finland’s Atlas are releasing their music video for their first single “On Crooked Stones” in support of their upcoming first full-length Primitive due out November 16th from Inverse Records. The video was filmed during Atlas' tour with Miss May I this past June. The cold atmosphere and aggressive riffs paired with heartfelt lyrics and intimate vocals paint a picture of childhood trauma and the heritage of malice; perfectly suiting, the music video captures the band's intense and energetic live show, stirring anticipation for the full-length.
“On Crooked Stones” was mixed and mastered at Impact Studios by Buster Odeholm (Born of Osiris, Sworn In, Humanity's Last Breath, etc.) with additional production from the late George Christie also from Impact Studios.
"We started writing the album back in 2015 and it took us 3 years and about 30 song ideas to narrow it down to these nine tracks. The process was long and one of the hardest things we’ve ever set out to do, but we’re all extremely happy and proud of how it came out in the end.’’ comments guitarist Aleksi Viinikka.
Brazilian bashers Angra have released their "Light Of Transcendence" music video. The track is featured on the band's latest album ØMNI. Watch below.
ØMNI is a concept album, a set of science fiction short stories that take place at various places in time, simultaneously. The backbone of the plot is based on the idea that in 2046 an artificial intelligence system will change human perception and cognition. It is a system which will allow conscious communication between present and future human beings. Characters such as time travellers, cavemen, warriors, among others, help tell this story.
The album connects the concepts of previous albums (Holy Land, Rebirth, Temple of Shadows) to one main system, ØMNI, which in Latin means "everything." ØMNI fabricates an interconnectivity that shines light towards a universal truth: everything that has happened, led to what the band is today. ØMNI celebrates and unites the whole history of Angra to this exact, current moment.
Angra's trademark formula, a Brazilian style mixed with classical music and heavy metal, is enhanced by different influences such as progressive rock, thrash metal, Latin music, and djent, which transforms the albums into a swirl of modern and familiar. The conjoined moods and dynamics put a special spin on the lyrics and therefore increase deep sense of immersion in the story.
The cover artwork was hand-drawn by Daniel Martin Diaz, a unique American artist who dedicates his life to mixing scientific and philosophical concepts such as Anatomy, Computer Science, Mathematics, Cosmology, Sacred Geometry, Symbolism and Esotericism. The designer Gustavo Sazes was responsible for integrating such an organic art piece to the visual concept of the album as a whole.
Even in a cultural environment increasingly sterile and unfavourable for music with soul and identity, the band gathers eleven tracks that completely differ from each other, but at the same time tell a cohesive story, and wander through all styles and nuances that have made Angra a worldwide reference. A very well bonded line-up, both personally and musically, overflowing with creativity, was the necessary fuel to bring these songs to life, songs which are undoubtedly among the best in the band's discography.
ØMNI certainly is a milestone, not only in the history of the band, but also for Brazilian metal and its recognition worldwide.

Haken's fifth studio album Vector is due out on October 26th. A video for the album’s first single "The Good Doctor", directed by Stuart White, can be seen below.
The band says of the track: “Finally, the prescription you’ve all been waiting for... This dose of Haken is the result of one of the earliest tests we conducted during the Vector experimental process. Best taken aurally three times a day before meals. ‘The Good Doctor' will see you now!”
They add on the video: “Making this video was a very cool, creative experience for us. Our director Stuart White presented his interpretation of the song in which we follow a man experiencing a manic, psychotic episode. Combined with the band footage, it encapsulates the energy of the song splendidly.”
The album was produced by the band themselves, and recorded and mixed by Adam ‘Nolly’ Getgood (Periphery, Devin Townsend Project), with the artwork once again being handled by Blacklake.
The band comments: “On the back of celebrating the 10 year anniversary of our conception, all of us here in the Haken camp are extremely excited to begin this new chapter of our career and share Vector with the world.”
The album will be available as limited edition 2CD Digipak (including instrumental versions), gatefold vinyl 2LP + CD, & as digital download.
Tracklisting:
"Clear"
"The Good Doctor"
"Puzzle Box"
"Veil"
"Nil By Mouth"

"A Cell Divides"
Since their inception in 2007, Haken have shown over four previous studio albums, one EP and a live release that they never stand still, merely satisfied to rely on past triumphs. Rather, Haken always look for ways to challenge themselves as musicians and artists, and also to keep the listeners on their collective toes. “We don't like to make simple music,” laughs vocalist Ross Jennings. “We always aim to defy expectations, and I believe we've surpassed what we aimed to achieve with our new album.”
Their fifth studio record sees the band going in a heavier direction with the music. “We’ve always had a heavy influence”, explains guitarist Charlie Griffiths, “but it was obvious from the riffs that were naturally coming out of us early in the writing process that this would be a more metal album. These are some of the most riff driven songs we’ve ever written.” As is usual, Haken produced the album themselves, but for the first time they have enlisted Adam 'Nolly' Getgood during the recording and mixing stages. Formerly bassist with Periphery, in the last couple of years he has built a reputation as a fine producer. “We produced the album ourselves, as we always do,” insists Jennings. “But we're fans of what Adam has done with Periphery, Sikth and Devin Townsend. He has a great reputation for the heavier end of our genre”.
But if this album is musically heavy, then there's an underlying theme running through the seven songs which is certainly esoteric and fascinating. “The scene is set with the track The Good Doctor, which was a really fun song. Musically it feels like a logical step from 'Affinity', but lyrically it’s a bit more theatrical and about as ‘rock opera’ as Haken has ever got”, explains Griffiths. “It’s about a Doctor with an intriguing, perhaps sinister interest in a particular patient. From there the story enters the point-of-view of the patient - who appears to be catatonic, but his mind is sparking with what could be memories, or delusions brought on by the treatment he’s receiving - we leave this up to the listeners to decide. Although we don’t want to give too much away, people who are familiar with our back catalogue will have fun discovering further clues we’ve planted throughout the album. And that's the challenge for the fans - to find out for themselves their own meaning for 'Vector' as an album”.

Italy's Temperance have released a new single, "The Last Hope In A World Of Hopes", featuring new vocalist Alessia Scolletti. It is taken from their new album, Of Jupiter and Moons. The official video is available below.

Tricarico has issued the following statement:
"Dear all, after a show and after almost four years of live and studio activity together, I was told by the guys from Temperance about their decision to change line up, in which I am officially not included anymore. Of course I am sorry to be no more part of a project I have put so much effort and passion in through the years, but I wish them all the best with the new line up.
Feel your power, limitless. Be yourself, not someone else!"

Former ACCEPT and BONFIRE singer David Reece will release his long-awaited new solo album, "Resilient Heart", on November 9 through Mighty Music. The follow-up to 2013's "Compromise" is an LP "rich on full-blown melodic heavy metal," according to a press release.
The first single from "Resilient Heart", "Any Time At All", is a wonderful heavy rocker with a touch of David Coverdale and WHITESNAKE inspiration — a song with a powerful riff and a strong verse leading up to a bombastic singalong chorus, whereas a song like "Perfect Apocalypse" stands out with its progressive PRETTY MAIDS-inspired elements.
Reece says about the single: "'Any Time At All' is the first song of the new album and also the first single.
"I'm a person about challenges. Lyrically, it speaks about how to stand up against anything someone will throw at me. So, you got the challenge — I got the will — any time at all."
On "Resilient Heart", Reece has teamed up with the Danish musicians Marco Angioni (guitar), Martin J. Andersen (guitar), Malte Frederik Burkert (bass) and Sigurd J. Jensen (drums).
"Resilient Heart" comes with two different track listings — one for CD/digital and one for the limited blood-red vinyl edition (500 copies).
"The Grey", the new video from the Swedish melodic hard rock band DYNAZTY, which features in its ranks current AMARANTHE singer Nils Molin, can be seen below. The song is taken from DYNAZTY's sixth album, "Firesign", which will be released on September 28 via AFM Records.
"Firesign" will be available as a digipak, clear yellow vinyl (limited to 200 units), clear orange vinyl (limited to 200 units) and blue/yellow splatter (limited to 100 units), which is exclusively available in the AFM webshop.
"Firesign" track listing:
01. Breathe With Me
02. The Grey
03. In The Arms Of A Devil
04. My Darkest Hour
05. Ascension
06. Firesign
07. Closing Doors
08. Follow Me
09. Let Me Dream Forever
10. Starfall
11. The Light Inside The Tunnel
DYNAZTY was founded in 2007 and reached its current formation a year later with the addition of Molin. To date the band has released five albums, toured internationally, zigzagged Sweden and performed in the insanely popular Swedish Eurovision song contest qualification, Melodifestivalen event.
DYNAZTY garnered international praise and scored notable domestic chart positions with its more traditionally hard-rocking "Knock You Down" album (2011) and its successor "Sultans Of Sin" (2012). Criminally overlooked "Renatus" (2013), saw the band shedding its old-school melodic hard rock skin for a sound more modern, more defined and more addictive. Fittingly for its Latin name ("Rebirth"), "Renatus" saw the band's sound grow tighter with an arsenal of rapid rhythm patterns and machine-gun riffs, Molin's ever-present soaring vocals plus huge choruses that stuck in your head like horseflies and featuring melodic hooklines lesser bands would die for to have written. Sugar-pasted with massive arrangements, "Renatus" was an album the like of which most bands never manage to write. Yet somehow it managed to fly under the radar.
2016's "Titanic Mass" saw the Swedes present the next logical step in the never-ending flux that is the sound of DYNAZTY. This time choosing to maintain the overall bite and tightness of "Renatus" and taking a courteous nod in the direction of power metal finally, and adding a symphonic element, the band succeeded in making the songs, if possible, yet another notch more addictive than before.
DYNAZTY is:
Nils Molin - vocals
Love Magnusson - guitar
Mike Lavér - guitars
Jonathan Olsson - bass
George Egg - drums
Molin officially joined AMARANTHE in July 2017 as the replacement for Jake E.
Having previously used Chris Adam Hedman Sörbye from the band SMASH INTO PIECES as a stand-in for Jake on some of the shows in 2016 and in early 2017, AMARANTHE recruited Molin for three Swedish concerts in March 2017 and he has been part of the group's live appearances ever since.
