Jeff Lynne’s ELO Streaming New Song "Time Of Our Life"

Jeff Lynne’s ELO Streaming New Song "Time Of Our Life"

Rock And Roll Hall Of Famer and music legend, Jeff Lynne, will follow up a remarkable run of sold out European and American tours with a new album, From Out Of Nowhere, on November 1 via Columbia Records. Pre-order here, and listen to the song "Time Of Our Life" below:

Lynne, whose music has touched fans deeply across three generations now, has found himself in recent years at the peak of his powers as a songwriter, musician and producer. The forthcoming album features a buoyant title song, opening the album which features ten songs, from the wistful “Help Yourself” to the celebratory “Down Came The Rain” to the churning rocker “One More Time” (featuring a solo from pianist Richard Tandy) to the sweet closer, “Songbird”.

As does its predecessor, 2015’s Alone in the Universe (the first new release from Lynne in 14 years), From Out Of Nowhere shows Lynne finding new facets to his signature sound, at once drawing on his globally loved legacy and forging new paths in both sounds and emotions. Once again, he plays nearly every note of the music on guitars, bass, piano, drums, keyboards and vibes, as well as singing all of the lead and layered harmony vocals. Steve Jay, who also engineered the album, adds some percussion.

The very existence of the album is an unexpected joy, as much for its creator as for his fans. “‘From Out Of Nowhere' - that’s exactly where it came from,” Lynne says. “That’s the first one I wrote for this album and it’s kind of like that.” It’s a song about hope and salvation. Lynne often found himself turning to a sense of optimism, which is a theme recurring throughout the album, saying “Everybody’s got to have a bit of hope.”

This album builds on the energy and acclaim generated by the release of Alone in the Universe and the triumphant return to touring for the first time since 1985, starting with a 2014 performance before more than 50,000 people in London’s Hyde Park. Since then he and the remarkable group he’s assembled have toured in Europe and North America, with shows including sold out dates at such esteemed locales as two nights at New York’s Radio City Music Hall, eight nights at the O2 Arena in London, a headlining slot at the 2016 Glastonbury Festival, a three-night fireworks spectacular at the Hollywood Bowl and a June 2017 spectacle for nearly 60,000 fans at Wembley Stadium. That latter was captured in the Wembley or Bust concert film. That was followed by a major U.S. arena tour in 2018 and a return for twenty North American shows this past summer.

Covering the Anaheim kick-off to the 2019 trek, Forbes’ Steve Baltin called the return to the stage “a very unexpected surprise for fans, one that should be savored and celebrated not just by ELO fans, but any music fan who wants the chance to experience what has, in a turn no one could have seen coming, become consistently one of the best live acts in the world.”

Additionally, 2017 also saw Lynne inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, with the touring band performing at the ceremony.

With more than 50 million albums sold, ELO ranks among the most popular acts of its era. Those totals cover four consecutive Top 10 albums and seven reaching the Top 20, as well as a remarkable string of hit singles - 20 reaching the US Top 40 and a full seven of them lodging in the Top 10. Lynne’s reach, of course, has extended far beyond ELO, touching millions as a producer and collaborator, most notably as a member of the Traveling Wilburys alongside George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty. He also produced Harrison’s colorful Cloud Nine album and with Harrison, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr crafted full songs from John Lennon’s home tapes of “Free As A Bird” and “Real Love”.

CYHRA - Recordings For No Halos In Hell Album Discussed In New Video Trailer

CYHRA - Recordings For No Halos In Hell Album Discussed In New Video Trailer

Cyhra will release their sophomore album, No Halos In Hell, on November 15 via Nuclear Blast. Today, the band releases a new album trailer, which has producer Jacob Hansen talking about the recordings of the album. Watch below:

Founded by vocalist Jake E (ex-Amaranthe) and guitarist Jesper Strömblad (ex-In Flames), Cyhra has gone from being reminiscent of the duo's former bands to having a unique identity. In fact, No Halos In Hell is one of those rare albums that defies being neatly placed in a genre box; coming out heavy and dynamic, the record is loaded with melodic vocal hooks that stay nailed to the brain for days, achieving maximum impact throughout. Fusing a relentless energy and heaviness the best way possible was Cyhra's main focus this time out. The addition of guitarist Euge Valovirta (ex-Shining) as a full member has raised the creative process to a level where, according to Jake E, "Everyone is playing to the point of what is best for the song.” No Halos In Hell is one of those rare albums that defies being neatly placed in a genre box: delivering tunes that are both heavy and dynamic, the record is loaded with melodic vocal hooks and musical ear-worms.

Produced by Jacob Hansen and co-produced by the band's very own Jake E, the album is filled with 12 live-oriented songs, ensuring maximum catchiness.

No Halos In Hell will be available as 2 CD digipak, black vinyl or download on November 15. The bonus CD included in the limited digipak includes six additional songs, three of them being exclusive acoustic versions. You can pre-order the format of your choice here.

ZAKK WYLDE Is Still Open To Taking Part In PANTERA Tribute Tour With PHILIP ANSELMO And REX BROWN

ZAKK WYLDE Is Still Open To Taking Part In PANTERA Tribute Tour With PHILIP ANSELMO And REX BROWN

During a recent interview with "The Cassius Morris Show", Zakk Wylde (BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, OZZY OSBOURNE) was once again asked about the possibility of a hypothetical PANTERA tribute tour, with him filling in for the late "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott on guitar.

"When Saint Vinnie [late PANTERA drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott, who died in June 2018] was still around, they were talking about it then," Zakk said (hear audio below). I mean, the way I always looked at it is it's a PANTERA celebration and an honor. I mean, every night I'm playing with Ozz, we honor Saint Rhoads [late Ozzy guitarist Randy Rhoads]. I'm playing the Randy stuff every night, and I'm blessed and it's an honor to do it. Basically, we're paying tribute to Randy every night — keeping his music alive.

"If we got together and we ended up doing it, it would be like… I just look at it like if Eric Clapton went out and was with Mitch [Mitchell, Jimi Hendrix's drummer] and Noel [Redding, Hendrix's bass player] and singing and playing Jimi's songs, and he's honoring Jimi, 'cause that was his buddy.

"No one's replacing anybody. No one's replacing Randy Rhoads — he was a one-off. Just like no one's replacing Jimi Hendrix and no one's replacing Dime [late PANTERA guitarist 'Dimebag' Darrell Abbott] — or Vinnie.

"If [LED] ZEPPELIN was going out, and if Jason's [Bonham] playing drums, no one's replacing his father. What they're doing is celebrating his father's greatness and what he achieved and all the mountains he conquered with ZEPPELIN.

"It's more of a tribute and a celebration than it is... You can't replace any of these people I'm talking about — they're all legendary guys. But, yeah, you're just celebrating all their achievements — that's all."

Former PANTERA singer Philip Anselmo recently told Chile's Humo Negro that he would consider getting together with Wylde and PANTERA bassist Rex Brown and performing the band's classic songs in concert. "Well, Zakk is a busy man," he said. "He does his own band, he does stuff with Ozzy and all that stuff. We spoke about it maybe one time. And I think everybody — everybody — is… I guess they're like me. Keep an open mind about it. We'll see. But I know from all the hard work with THE ILLEGALS here to make those songs right, all of us, we would have to take time off and really practice together and get everything perfect. So it's a lot of work. And I'm doing a lot of bands, man, right now. [But] if everything was lined up, I would do it — sure. Fuck yeah! Why not?"

Talk about a possible PANTERA "reunion" intensified when Anselmo regularly joined Wylde's BLACK LABEL SOCIETY to perform PANTERA's song "I'm Broken" during DOWN's 2014 stint on the "Revolver Golden Gods Tour". That buzz only got stronger after Brown joined the jam on May 23, 2014 when the tour swung through Texas.

Up until his death in June 2018, Vinnie remained on non-speaking terms with Anselmo, whom the drummer indirectly blamed for the death of "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, who was his brother.

Vinnie Paul and Dimebag co-founded PANTERA. When PANTERA broke up in 2003, they formed DAMAGEPLAN. On December 8, 2004, while performing with DAMAGEPLAN at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio, Dimebag was shot and killed onstage by a troubled schizophrenic who believed that the members of PANTERA were stealing his thoughts.

ALTER BRIDGE's MYLES KENNEDY Praises GOJIRA: 'They're The Most Important Metal Band Out There Right Now'

ALTER BRIDGE's MYLES KENNEDY Praises GOJIRA: 'They're The Most Important Metal Band Out There Right Now'

In a brand new interview with Sweden's RockSverige, ALTER BRIDGE frontman Myles Kennedy confirmed that the band's new song "Native Son" was inspired by his love of the French metal act GOJIRA. "When I wrote that riff, I had certainly been listening to a lot of GOJIRA, so it was something that I could see was totally rubbing off on what I was feeling at the moment," he said. "I think that they're, in my opinion, the most important metal band out there right now. They're moving the needle as far as newer bands go — bands within the last two decades. They blow my mind. And the cool thing about GOJIRA is that they're also incredibly cool guys, for as talented as they are. They're really just stand-up, great individuals, so I'm definitely rooting for them. They're special."

Asked what is it about GOJIRA's music that he finds so special and interesting, Myles said: "I think it's just that it's smart. It's not just pure cookie-cutter metal riffs. To me, it's not status quo. They're trying to do something unique between the way Joe [Duplantier, guitar, vocals] approaches things with his guitar parts and his brother [Mario Duplantier], who's a genius drummer… I think a lot of the rhythms that take place under a lot of the riffs really help establish their sound and that's part of what makes them so unique. I mean, I could just go on and on. There are just so many elements, and the visual elements are great too. Their production is amazing, and they've just got all the boxes checked. They're really a groundbreaking band and they're going to be around for a long time."

"Native Son" appears on ALTER BRIDGE's latest album, "Walk The Sky", which was released on October 18 via Napalm Records.

ALTER BRIDGE just completed a co-headining tour with SKILLET. The "Victorious Sky" trek kicked off on September 22 in Baltimore and ran through October 25 in Orlando.

MICHAEL SCHENKER Looks Back On UFO's Strangers In The Night Album - "I Knew I Had Reached The End Of A Chapter"

MICHAEL SCHENKER Looks Back On UFO's Strangers In The Night Album - "I Knew I Had Reached The End Of A Chapter"

Guitar World recently sat down with guitar legend Michael Schenker to discuss UFO's Strangers In The Night album, released in 1979. The original double LP album was recorded in autumn 1978 at shows in Chicago, Illinois and Louisville, Kentucky. This was UFO's last concert recording with guitarist Michael Schenker before the band's reunion in 1993. Schenker left the band during this tour; this led to the band having to recruit former bandmate & ex-Lone Star guitarist Paul Chapman.

GW: Strangers is often cited as one of the best live rock albums and is many UFO fans’ favorite release. Do you have fond memories of it or are the memories colored by the circumstances surrounding your parting ways with the band at the time?

Schenker: "At the time of Strangers In The Night, I knew I had reached the end of a chapter, and it was time for me to start the next one, which was to carry on experimenting with music rather than being part of a machine."

GW: When you look back, are you impressed by your younger self or do see faults and wish you could have done things differently?

Schenker: "I had no clue what I was doing… I just had fun playing guitar and discovering new things!"

Read the complete interview here.

Michael Schenker Fest's new album, Revelation, is available as CD digipak, 2LP (different colours) as well as a limited boxset incl. CD digipak, 2LP (red+black splatter), puzzle, poster 60x30, photo cards. Get your version here.

THIN LIZZY Guitarist ERIC BELL Slams METALLICA For Failing To Pay Him For Guest Appearance 20 Years Ago

THIN LIZZY Guitarist ERIC BELL Slams METALLICA For Failing To Pay Him For Guest Appearance 20 Years Ago

Founding THIN LIZZY guitarist Eric Bell has slammed METALLICA for allegedly failing to pay him for a guest appearance 20 years ago.

The now-72-year-old musician, who made his name in the original lineup of THIN LIZZY, was invited to play "Whiskey In The Jar" with the metal legends at the Point Theatre in Dublin in July 1999.

He told the Irish Sun that he joined METALLICA on their private plane as they made their way from the U.K. to Dublin. He expected to receive around 2000 euros (approximately $2,200) for his appearance — although he admitted that there was no agreement on the fee.

"It was about half three in the morning," he said. "The transport was all lined up, and there was a car to take me home. I was quietly expecting about two grand, which wouldn't have meant a thing to them. But [a member of their crew came over to say goodbye at the private airfield and] I got handed over a big ball of METALLICA t-shirts, key rings and hats. I got paid f*** all. Then they all f***ed off. It wasn't until I was sitting in my car on the way home I realized they hadn't paid me. I thought I'd get something in the post but not a dickie bird. Later somebody tried to get in touch with METALLICA to get me something but they found it impossible and they gave up.

"They are a pack of b******s," he continued. "I couldn't believe what they did, especially as they are so well off. I should have been paid £2,000 but got f*** all"

"It's pure ignorance, really. I should have been paid £2,000 at least, but I got f*** all from them."

Bell was a founding member of THIN LIZZY, playing guitar on their first three albums. He left LIZZY on New Year's Eve 1973, but remained on good terms with with his ex-bandmates. Eric's last performance with THIN LIZZY took place during the 1983 tour at Hammersmisth Odeon when Philip Lynott reunited all the guitar players of THIN LIZZY story to play a show. Bell performed "The Rocker", a song he co-wrote.

Eric released his new autobiography, "Remembering - The Autobiography Before During And After Thin Lizzy", as hardback and audiobook, narrated by the guitarist himself, in September via his exclusive production team Of The Edge Productions.

OZZY OSBOURNE's New Album To Be Released In January, Says SHARON OSBOURNE

OZZY OSBOURNE's New Album To Be Released In January, Says SHARON OSBOURNE

Sharon Osbourne says that Ozzy's new studio album will be released in January.

Ozzy recently provided guest vocals on Post Malone's song "Take What You Want", a session overseen by producer Andrew Watt, and it led to Osbourne and Watt collaborating on the legendary BLACK SABBATH singer's 12th solo LP.

Ozzy has not released an all-new solo effort since 2010's "Scream", having spent the last few years touring with BLACK SABBATH in support of that band's "13" LP, as well as playing a number of solo shows. More recently, Osbourne has been recuperating at home after sustaining a bad neck injury resulting in the postponement of his solo tour.

Sharon spoke about Ozzy's health during an appearance on SiriusXM's "The Jess Cagle Show", hosted by Jess Cagle and Julia Cunningham. Asked how the singer is recovering from his recent setbacks, Sharon said (see video below): "He's getting there. He had a very, very bad accident this year, but he's getting there. He's just finished an album, and the album is coming out in January. And he's doing good. He's very excited about the duet he did with Post and also Travis Scott. It's doing great. It's at Top 40 radio, and it's climbing up every week. It's doing good."

According to Sharon, returning to the recording studio and making new music has "been a huge boost" for Ozzy, "because he felt literally worthless. And he would watch different things on TV, and he was watching some band, a documentary on a band, and they were in their tour bus traveling," she recalled. "And he couldn't watch it — he was near to tears, and he goes, 'I miss my life. I want my life back.' It's been really hard on him. But he's getting there. He'll be back."

Asked if Ozzy's "spirits are okay," Sharon replied: "Now they are. Now he's done his album, and it's coming out, and everybody's really pumped about it. He's happy — he is."

Sharon went on to say that Ozzy is still planning on completing his "No More Tours 2", which launched a year and a half ago. "He has another year and a half to do," she said. "And these kids have held on to their tickets [for the postponed shows] for over a year. And he's gonna go back and he's gonna fulfill that commitment — he's gonna play those shows. And he's not totally retiring, but the touring — he won't do any more touring."

Asked if she and Ozzy have ever thought about him doing a Las Vegas residency, Sharon said: "Yeah, we have — we absolutely have. We've definitely thought about it, yeah… It's amazing. You go to the Park [Theater at Park MGM] — that venue is tremendous. And the people they have playing there. It's a tremendous theater. And the sound system in there and the things you can do with your production. It's fantastic."

Watt connected with Osbourne after meeting Ozzy's daughter Kelly at a friend's party and pitching her on the idea of Post and Ozzy collaborating together.

Earlier this month, Ozzy once again postponed his European tour, marking the second time the BLACK SABBATH singer has done so following a series of health issues.

Ozzy initially scrapped his entire 2019 schedule earlier this year, as he recovered from surgery to repair an injury sustained while dealing with his recent bout of pneumonia. The European leg of his "No More Tours 2" trek was then rescheduled for January through March 2020, with the North American dates set to follow in May 2020.

According to Live Nation Sweden, the new European tour dates will now take place "in the first half of 2021." The American dates remain in place for now.

LACUNA COIL's CRISTINA SCABBIA Says She 'Was Always Treated With Respect' In Male-Dominated Music Industry

LACUNA COIL's CRISTINA SCABBIA Says She 'Was Always Treated With Respect' In Male-Dominated Music Industry

LACUNA COIL singer Cristina Scabbia was asked in a recent interview with PitCam.TV if she ever had any bad experiences being a female in a male-dominated industry, especially before the #MeToo movement went viral two years ago. "No," she responded (see video below). "To be honest, I always felt a part of the group. I never looked at myself as a female member or expected to be treated differently because I was a [woman]. Of course, I was always treated with respect, because I was always respectful with others, expecting respect as well, so I think it was a mutual thing that happened this way and I never had any type of problem. And I'm kind of a tomboy in the way that for this kind of living, you have to be not a 'girlie-girl,' because of the tour buses and the traveling, and sometimes you can't take a shower every day. So you have be down for this job."

Scabbia's latest comments echo those she made over a year ago when she told Red Carpet News TV that she doesn't focus on the fact that she is the only female musician in LACUNA COIL. "I always look at myself as a member of the band," she explained. "I don't really like to separate myself — like, 'Oh, I'm a woman in the business.' I know that it was something very weird in the beginning, 'cause metal was just a male-dominated scene, but now it's more open and now things have changed. But I have always looked at myself as one of the guys as well."

LACUNA COIL's latest album, "Black Anima", was released on October 11.

The band recently completed the "Disease Of The Anima" North American tour with ALL THAT REMAINS.

A privately funded 501(c)(3) charity organization dedicated to cancer prevention, research and education, the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund has already raised over $2 million in its short history. Monies raised have been committed to the cancer research work of the T.J. Martell Foundation for Cancer, AIDS and Leukemia Research, the gastric cancer research unit of the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, where Ronnie was treated for gastric cancer during the last six months of his life, and other cancer research projects. The Dio Cancer Fund has also committed funds to support the research of Dr. David Wong and his team at the UCLA School of Dentistry in developing a simple, non-invasive saliva test for the early detection of cancer, which is in keeping with the Fund's mission of cancer prevention, research and education.

METALLICA: 360-Degree Video Of 'Moth Into Flame' Performance From Copenhagen

METALLICA: 360-Degree Video Of 'Moth Into Flame' Performance From Copenhagen

A 360-degree video of METALLICA performing the song "Moth Into Flame" on July 11 at Telia Parken in Copenhagen, Denmark can be seen below.

"Moth Into Flame" is taken from METALLICA's latest studio album, "Hardwired...To Self-Destruct", which was released in November 2016 via Blackened Recordings.

METALLICA frontman James Hetfield spoke to Guitar World magazine about the lyrical inspiration for "Moth Into Flame", which describes a Britney Spears-like pop queen that crashes and burns. Asked if he had someone specifically in mind when he was writing the track, James said: "The 'pop queen' in the song is not really female or male. It's about how people think popularity or fame is going to solve their problems. Or whether fame should even be a goal for a musician. For us, fame has sometimes been a burden, like, how do we get rid of this thing? [Laughs] It's a Pandora's box that often makes you wonder, Okay, how do I become un-famous? Some people have felt that urge so strongly they've taken their own lives to escape it."

He continued: "The song was somewhat inspired by the Amy Winehouse documentary, 'Amy'. When I watched it, it really made me sad that a talented person like that fell for the fame part of it. But, to some degree, I see that mentality reflected in everyday life — people obsessively taking selfies and sending them to friends for validation."

Hetfield also talked about how "autobiographical" "Moth Into Flame" is, considering that the members of METALLICA were "pop queens" for a while during the "Black Album" period. "The 'Some Kind Of Monster' film is a prime example of believing that people need you in a certain way, and if you don't deliver, they'll hate you," he said. "I've experienced some aspect of that almost all my life. If you're not aware of it enough, the monster that is fame can swallow you up. During that period, we were being swallowed. We stopped caring about each other. We didn't care what METALLICA meant to us and other people. We could only see the ugly side and we wanted to get away from it. We couldn't see what was beautiful about our lives. Whatever you focus on, you start working toward, and at that point in our lives we were thinking, this is a hell for us. We lost perspective. Eventually we realized it wasn't about the fame and that we needed to care for the band and each other· That was a hard lesson to learn."

METALLICA will headline five major North American festivals next year, all of which are produced by Danny Wimmer Presents. The events are Epicenter, Welcome To Rockville, Sonic Temple Music + Arts, Louder Than Life and Aftershock. The band will play two separate headlining sets at each stop, with a unique setlist for each performance, resulting in 10 different shows.

These shows will be METALLICA's only U.S. festival appearances of 2020. The quartet will play on Friday night and Sunday night at each event.

To mark the 20th anniversary of METALLICA's first performance with the San Francisco Symphony, which resulted in the live "S&M" album and video, the band re-teamed with the symphony in early September for two shows for the grand opening of Chase Center, the new home of the Golden State Warriors.

A film of last month's concerts, called "S&M²", arrived in theaters worldwide on October 9.

SALIVA To Reunite With Singer JOSEY SCOTT For 2020 Album And Tour

SALIVA To Reunite With Singer JOSEY SCOTT For 2020 Album And Tour

Josey Scott has announced that he will reunite with SALIVA for a new album and tour in 2020.

The singer left SALIVA at the end of 2011 after 15 years with the band, reportedly to pursue a solo Christian music career. He was quickly replaced by Bobby Amaru, who can be heard on SALIVA's last four releases: "In It To Win It" (2013), "Rise Up" (2014), "Love, Lies & Therapy" (2016) and "10 Lives" (2018).

Scott broke the news of his return to SALIVA during an appearance on "The Morning Dump", a podcast hosted by "The Big Mad Morning Show" in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

He said (hear audio below): "I'm going to get back together with the guys and we're gonna do a reunion tour and a new album next year… January 2020, we're gonna put the old thinking caps on and get in the studio.

"Now that I'm clean and sober, my mind is clear, and I'm focused like I used to be in my 20s when I wouldn't take 'no' for an answer. And I went out, and people told me I'd never make it and they told I'd never get a record deal, and I said, 'Fuck you!' and I went and got it anyway — without a high school diploma. I've kind of got that focusness back.

"I'm gonna get in the studio with the guys, I'm gonna write a badass record, and we're gonna go sell it."

Asked if the new SALIVA album will be recorded in Tulsa, Scott said: "I'll probably do the lion's share of it in Memphis with the guys and we'll come back to Tulsa and put all the finishing touches on it.

"I wanna do something for the fans, because they have been so loyal to us and so amazing through the years," he explained. "I've heard people on the web sites and on Facebook and everything: 'When is Josey coming back? Can we, please, have Josey back?' And I want to come back and do my thing."

SALIVA released six albums with Scott and tasted platinum success and a Grammy nomination for its first big hit, "Your Disease".

Watch HALESTORM Perform Acoustic Version Of 'Chemicals' Live In Studio

Watch HALESTORM Perform Acoustic Version Of 'Chemicals' Live In Studio

Video footage of HALESTORM performing an acoustic version of the song "Chemicals" can be seen below. The original track was included as a b-side on the band's "Record Store Day" release "Buzz".

HALESTORM singer Lzzy Hale stated about the cut: "Our song 'Chemicals' was written in homage to those we've lost and all of us struggling with mental illness.

"In this song, I dip into the personal insanity that goes on inside your head. Because sometimes you feel like you are drowning in the whisperings of your own mind, like you are the only one at war with your impending darkness. But, really, we are all in this together. We are all battling one day at a time. We, the fighters… We are the majority. So I made the chorus an anthem, an epiphany that we are all the same, and most everyone you meet has been touched by mental illness. Let's lift each other up. Raise your horns!"

HALESTORM's latest album, "Vicious", was released in July 2018 via Atlantic. The disc was recorded in 2017 at Nashville, Tennessee's Rock Falcon recording studio with producer Nick Raskulinecz.

Hale recently told a New Jersey radio station that the band would record a "secret project" before hitting the road with GODSMACK in September.

SEVENDUST Begins Recording New Album; Early 2020 Release Expected

SEVENDUST Begins Recording New Album; Early 2020 Release Expected

SEVENDUST has entered the studio to begin recording its new album for an early 2020 release. The follow-up to last year's "All I See Is War" is once again being tracked at Studio Barbarosa in Gotha, Florida with producer Michael "Elvis" Baskette, who has previously worked with ALTER BRIDGE and SLASH, among others.

A couple of photos from the studio can be seen below.

This past July, SEVENDUST vocalist Lajon Witherspoon told Anne Erickson of Audio Ink Radio that the band would begin recording the new disc "not too long from now. Everyone's excited to go in and start testing out some of this new stuff and seeing what our producer feels like, and if he likes the direction," he said. "We're definitely happy with what's going on right now. We're taking our time [and are in] no hurry right now. We're going to work with Elvis again. It's coming naturally — it's just us jamming and doing what we do and being the weirdos that we are."

"All I See Is War" was released in May 2018. It marked the group's first album for Rise Records, the Oregon-based metal and hard rock label which was purchased by BMG in 2015.

SEVENDUST released four singles and videos from "All I See Is War": "Dirty", "Not Original", "Medicated" and "Risen".

In 2016, SEVENDUST received its first-ever Grammy nomination after two decades together as a band. "Thank You", the debut single from 2015's "Kill The Flaw", got the nod for "Best Metal Performance".

GREAT WHITE's MARK KENDALL Says Much Of Today's Rock Music Sounds Too Perfect At Cost Of Human Element

GREAT WHITE's MARK KENDALL Says Much Of Today's Rock Music Sounds Too Perfect At Cost Of Human Element

In a brand new interview with the "Iron City Rocks" podcast, GREAT WHITE guitarist Mark Kendall lamented the fact that the invention of digital audio tools has provided artists with the tools to achieve perfection in recording, ultimately making much of today's music sound too perfect at the cost of feeling or emotional content.

"You see a computer, you see where every bass note lands, and you can see that it's not landing perfectly on the kick [drums] every time," he said. "So, the thing a lot of people do is make sure all those bass notes line right up with the kick drum, and what they're actually doing is turning it into a machine. Their guide is a machine, so, to me, they're sucking the human element out of it. I like the old-school way — if it sounds good to us, it's good.

"When I hear a singer and nothing's poking out at me, even though Autocorrect might say sometning different, if it's going by and I'm digging it, we don't touch it," he continued. "And we all feel the same way."

According to Kendall, some of the greatest rock songs of all time were recorded live in the studio, and the bulk of music was laid down as a band, giving the songs an organic feel.

"If you listen to '30 Days In The Hole' by HUMBLE PIE, it's all over the place as far as the beat is concerned; if you put a drum machine next to it, it would be laughable. But they're so engulfed in the soul and they just capture the moment and they feel each other when they're playing together, so you don't really notice that. If you wanna drag it back a little bit and it feels right, it's right. '30 Days In The Hole' is one of the greatest songs ever written, and the tempo is out of control and it's still beautiful. They didn't have a computer screen to look at to fix this and that, and it's the greatest. So I like that human connection to music — it's what it's all about — and most of my heroes feel the same way. I've heard Joe Walsh say that, I've heard tons of people."

Last year, GREAT WHITE announced the addition of new singer Mitch Malloy to the group's ranks. He replaced Terry Ilous, who was fired from the band in July 2018.

The Ilous-led GREAT WHITE released two albums, 2012's "Elation" and 2017's "Full Circle", before Terry was shown the door.

VANDALLUS Featuring MIDNIGHT Members – “Barricade” Video Streaming

VANDALLUS Featuring MIDNIGHT Members – “Barricade” Video Streaming

U.S. hard rock / metal band, Vandallus, will release their third powerhouse album Outbreak on December 12, 2019 digital, CD and vinyl via Mercinary Records. It's all about classic dynamic recordings with a real live drummer, no pitch shifting, and no crushed or fake elements. New video for "Barricade" is streaming below.

The album was produced by CrazyV and Vanik. Recorded at Mercinary Studios (Avon, OH). Mixed and mastered by CrazyV. Production asisstant Noah C. Buchanan.

Vandallus from Cleveland, Ohio feature two thirds of the mighty Midnight in their line-up. Vandallus is Jason’s baby “aka CrazyV”, Midnight boss Jamie Walters also wrote a few songs to kickstart the debut album On The High Side (2016) via High Roller Records. The idea came about of making an album in the vein of late 1970s/early 1980s hard rock. Being that there was a significant amount of underground buzz about the music, it had become a functioning band.

The sound of On The High Side is a very direct and sort of old school sound, according to Jason, that’s exactly how it was originally planned: “The main vibe with this band is all about capturing an era that won't be forgotten, just straight forward old school hard rock without the BS. I had the debut album mastered by Arnie Acosta (Santa Monica Mastering) whom worked on many of the classic productions of that time. The follow-up album Bad Disease was recorded live in the studio and released in 2018, and now here comes the third powerhouse Outbreak ready to be unleashed upon the world. “I'm all about classic dynamic recordings with a real live drummer, no pitch shifting, and no crushed or fake elements.”

Vandallus are very much motivated to play live as often as they can. Generally, we like to stick to more festival-type shows because we like to put on a full out energetic performance without cutting any corners. The ‘80s is an era that I'm truly inspired by, and through the music we're trying to get the upcoming generations to be as inspired as I am. Our goal is to get the younger kids to see the energy and vibe, and experience what the classic shows were all about.

ICED EARTH: 20th-Anniversary Edition Of 'Alive In Athens' Due In December

ICED EARTH: 20th-Anniversary Edition Of 'Alive In Athens' Due In December

On December 6, American heavy metal group ICED EARTH will finally release the classic 1999 live opus "Alive In Athens" as its first proper vinyl edition to celebrate the 20th anniversary of this monumental recording.

Originally released as a 2CD, 3CD and picture LP set, "Alive In Athens" came out slightly flawed two decades ago yet turned into a gigantic success for ICED EARTH and was certified gold in Greece, where the more than thirty different songs spanning set had been recorded on two nights at Athens's Rodon Club in January 1999.

The original release lacked the live version of "Colors" and the picture LP was a fairly careless CD-to-vinyl transfer interrupting Matt Barlow's stage banter several times and split up tracks that had been performed back to back (for example the "Something Wicked (Trilogy)"). Together with Jon Schaffer, this anniversary edition was created, offering a partially revised sequencing and fully dynamic vinyl mastering by Patrick W. Engel of Temple Of Disharmony as well as many additional extras.

Schaffer states: "'Alive In Athens' has been called one of the greatest heavy metal live albums of all time. For me, it was one of the high points in a long and eventful journey that carries on to this day. I've experienced some of the best memories of my musical and personal life in Greece and these two nights in Athens are certainly no exception. I am honored and humbled by the passion of ICED EARTH fans in Greece and all over the world and hope you will all enjoy this ultimate edition of 'Alive In Athens'!'

"Alive in Athens (20th Anniversary Edition)" includes five 180-gram LPs, a 12-page LP-sized booklet with liner notes by Schaffer and Barlow as well as Hakos Pervanidis (Metal Hammer Greece) who also contributed additional visual content, and 60x60cm poster.

FRANKIE BANALI: It Took 'Less Than 24 Hours' For QUIET RIOT To Find Replacement For Singer JAMES DURBIN

FRANKIE BANALI: It Took 'Less Than 24 Hours' For QUIET RIOT To Find Replacement For Singer JAMES DURBIN

Frankie Banali says that it took QUIET RIOT "less than 24 hours" to find a replacement for singer James Durbin.

Last month, QUIET RIOT parted ways with Durbin and replaced him with Jizzy Pearl. Pearl previously fronted QUIET RIOT from 2013 until October 2016, when he was briefly replaced by Seann Nichols, who played only five shows with the group before the March 2017 arrival of "American Idol" finalist Durbin.

Durbin reportedly left QUIET RIOT "to concentrate his time and efforts on his solo career.‬"

He recorded two studio albums with QUIET RIOT — 2017's "Road Rage" and the upcoming "Hollywood Cowboys" — during his three-year stint with the group.

Asked by LA Weekly if it's odd for QUIET RIOT to play shows in support of a new album when the band has just undergone a vocalist change, Banali said: "Actually, not at all. I reached out to Jizzy Pearl before looking at any other potential singers because I always thought that Jizzy was a really good fit for QUIET RIOT and is a total pro. He welcomed the opportunity to return to QUIET RIOT which made me very happy and we replaced our former singer in less than 24 hours."

Banali resurrected QUIET RIOT in 2010, three years after the death of founding member and singer Kevin DuBrow.

QUIET RIOT went through two vocalists — Mark Huff and Scott Vokoun — before Pearl's first three-year run with the band.

"Hollywood Cowboys" will be released on November 8 via Frontiers Music Srl.

BRET MICHAELS: 'Autobiography: Pictures & Stories Volume 1' Due In Early 2020

The first in series of books from POISON frontman Bret Michaels, "Bret Michaels Autobiography: Pictures & Stories Volume 1", will be released in early 2020. New EDDIE VAN HALEN Photos Shared By His Son WOLFGANG

New EDDIE VAN HALEN Photos Shared By His Son WOLFGANG

Wolfgang Van Halen has uploaded new photos of his father, legendary VAN HALEN guitarist Eddie Van Halen.

Earlier today, Wolfgang took to his Instagram to upload four selfies of him, his mother — Eddie's ex-wife Valerie Bertinelli — and the iconic axeman.

The 28-year-old wrote in an accompanying caption: "Family"

Bertinelli split with the 64-year old rocker in 2002 after 21 years of marriage.

There have been a lot of rumors regarding the VAN HALEN guitarist's supposedly worsening health, including a recent report from TMZ stating he is battling throat cancer. According to the gossip site's story, Van Halen has been traveling between the U.S. and Germany for treatment going on several years now. The site later said that "the sad medical news had some folks thinking Eddie was on his death bed ... but we're told that's anything but the case."

As previously reported, Eddie stopped by a McLaren dealership in Beverly Hills on Saturday and mingled with the sales team, taking pictures and even giving one fan a kiss.

A rep for Van Halen had no comment on TMZ's initial report when reached by Fox News.

Earlier this year, rumors were rampant that the classic-era lineup of VAN HALEN would reunite for the first time since 1984. It's unclear why the tour didn't happen, though there has been online chatter that a health setback involving Eddie Van Halen might have been responsible.

VAN HALEN has been inactive since it completed its U.S. tour in October 2015 in Los Angeles, California.

BLACK SABBATH's BILL WARD Releases Another New DAY OF ERRORS Song, 'Ghost Train'

BLACK SABBATH's BILL WARD Releases Another New DAY OF ERRORS Song, 'Ghost Train'

DAY OF ERRORS, the three-piece band led by original BLACK SABBATH drummer Bill Ward, has released released another new song called "Ghost Train". Check it out below.

In November 2017, DAY OF ERRORS released its first two songs, "Day Of Errors" and "Blaspheming At Creation" via iTunes, Spotify, Amazon MP3 and Google Play. Earlier this month, the group issued "Dark".

The band made its live debut in June 2016 at Gaslamp in Long Beach, California.

The group, which was formed by Ward "in the desire to have my drumming spirit continue to live," also features Joe Amodea on guitar/vocals and KILL DEVIL HILL singer Jason "Dewey" Bragg on vocals.

Bragg joined DAY OF ERRORS in early 2017 following the departure of bassist/vocalist Nick Diltz (ALL HAIL THE YETI).

Earlier this year, Bragg spoke to "The Blairing Out With Eric Blair Show" about what he gleaned from playing with Ward for the past two years. "Honestly, Bill is a phenomenal songwriter — singer and songwriter," he said. "He's written all the lyrics, all the melodies, all the music, all the guitar parts, obviously, the drum parts… It's an inspiration to see someone that you've listened to your whole life, and then you get to actually stand in a room with the guy and watch him perform and write and produce. It's amazing. I'm very blessed and happy to have that opportunity to do that with him. Especially one of the members of BLACK SABBATH. I mean, that's like hanging out with one of the dudes from LED ZEPPELIN, man. Give me a break. It's awesome."

Ward was on board for the SABBATH reunion when it was first announced in November 2011, but backed out soon after. He later claimed that he sat out the recording and touring sessions because of unfair contractual terms, although the members of SABBATH have hinted in other interviews that he wasn't physically up to the task.

It was rumored that SABBATH wanted to bring a second drummer on the road to share duties with Ward, which he allegedly balked at.

Ward in 2015 released his first solo album in 18 years. Titled "Accountable Beasts", the record can be purchased on iTunes.

NOVEMBERS DOOM Launch Music Video For New Song "What We Become"

NOVEMBERS DOOM Launch Music Video For New Song "What We Become"

Novembers Doom will release their new album, Nephilim Grove, this Friday, November 1, via Prophecy Productions. A video for the track "What We Become" can be found below.

With Nephilim Grove, Chicago's Novembers Doom celebrate their 30th anniversary in style, building upon the grandiose vision founder Paul Kuhr has developed throughout the years. As an entity existing in his singular musical universe of doom, death and progressive metal, the band by now dodges all endeavours of categorization.

Kuhr expands on 2017's Hamartia in the most daring yet root-conscious way, offering "new colors, new sounds, the same bad-assery. We never set out with a vision other than to just write what makes sense and feels right. It always shows our mood at a given point in time while while I am striving for lyrical and emotional consistency."

From the rolling thunder that is "Petrichor" across the goth-tinged title track and "Black Light", which marries thrashing outbursts with melodic finesse, to the dramatic finale "The Obelus", the record marks nothing less than a stately upgrade of genre.

The tracks were mixed and mastered at Unisound by Dan Swanö (Edge Of Sanity, Dissection, Opeth), who plainly declares, "I know I say this all the time, but it is their best so far" - a statement that rings true with regards to the songwriting prowess on display, something only true veterans such as these achieve. Crowned by empathic ruminations on the human condition's underbelly, Novembers Doom's eleventh studio album exudes timelessness right away.

Nephilim Grove is available as as digipak CD, 2CD artbook with two bonus tracks, 2LP (400 black, 200 red) and box set, containing the artbook and double vinyl (silver) alongside posters. Pre-order here.

STEEL MOUNTAIN CROSSING Feat. Former QUIET RIOT Singer MARK HUFF Release "Last Rites" Music Video

STEEL MOUNTAIN CROSSING Feat. Former QUIET RIOT Singer MARK HUFF Release "Last Rites" Music Video

Steel Mountain Crossing, featuring former Quiet Riot vocalist Mark Huff, along with Tiger Claws guitarist Dennis D, bassist David Leighton and drummer Grant Dubois, will release their new album on November 9 via Dragon City Demo.

The band has released a video for the song, "Last Rites", which can be viewed below. Check it out and stay tuned for full album details, coming soon.

Earlier this year, the band issued the following message:

“To Bravewords, it's readers and to all our metal brothers and sisters worldwide, Mark Huff and Dennis D here... We’re still alive and well. We wanted to say hello and let you know we are doing a new project called Steel Mountain Crossing.

"Dennis is an amazing guitarist. For years, he has been undoubtedly New York City’s best studio / session secret weapon guitarist of trade and worked for everyone from Notorious Big, Lil Kim, P Diddy to Mayhem. He is a very diverse guitarist and he assembled a great rhythm section featuring Grant Dubois on drums and David Leighton on bass whom are some of the best studio session musicians in Seattle.

"We just finished recording an album we are releasing in November. It’s a bit of a different direction from Quiet Riot. This music has nothing to do with hair metal from the ’80s. This is new and much heavier than anything we’ve done, yet there are ballads and rockers as well. Dennis wants to add ‘hello’ and mentions that is great to be here in Seattle and to offer our music and that it’s been a good time recording with Mark. Seattle is an amazing place with extremely talented and dedicated local musicians.

"We wanted to say thank you to all the readers for the support in the past and the continued support in the future. It means so much to us. We truly love you all and can’t wait to get back out and see you all again. Thank you so much. Peace and be well.”

DECARLO Featuring BOSTON's Tommy DECARLO To Release Debut Album, Lightning Strikes Twice, In January; Music Video For Title Track Streaming

DECARLO Featuring BOSTON's Tommy DECARLO To Release Debut Album, Lightning Strikes Twice, In January; Music Video For Title Track Streaming

Frontiers Music Srl has announced the release of Decarlo’s debut album, entitled Lightning Strikes Twice, on January 24. Today, the band has premiered the music video for the title track, which you can watch below. Stream the single and pre-order the album here.

The band Decarlo originated in Charlotte, North Carolina. Fronted by Tommy DeCarlo, best known for having performed with Boston since 2007, he co-founded the band with his son, guitarist Tommy DeCarlo Jr. As Tommy tells it, Tommy Jr. is truly the backbone of Decarlo. He has a great feel for what's going to work on stage, not just musically, but production wise, too and leads the charge in the band's performances. Of course no band is complete without a great supporting cast, which in Decarlo's case is provided by drummer Dan Hitz, bassist David Netta, and newest member Payton Velligan, who's a multi-talented keyboardist/guitarist/vocalist.

The band's debut album, Lightning Strikes Twice, is a very fine slice of melodic rock, deeply rooted in the sound of masters of the genre like Boston, Foreigner, Survivor, and REO Speedwagon.

"Without question, musically Tom Scholz has been my biggest influence. He along with Brad Delp created pure magic in the studio,” tells Tommy DeCarlo. "Brad with his amazing voice and Tom of course being one of the best songwriter/producers I've ever heard, touched not only me, but millions with their recordings. I could name quite a few other bands that influenced me as well, but none as much as the music of the band Boston!”

"We're very excited about the release of Lightning Strikes Twice!," continues Tommy. "As an artist/songwriter you're always going to be proud of your work, but there's nothing more gratifying than to please those who matter most...the fans! It's our hope that the music on this debut release will in some way/shape or form touch those who take the time to listen to it."

"A Better Day"
"You Are The Fire"
"Give Love A Try"
"Into The Storm"
"Lightning Strikes Twice"
"Still In Love "
"Rock N’ Soul"
