ALL THAT REMAINS Officially Recruits JASON RICHARDSON As New Guitarist

ALL THAT REMAINS Officially Recruits JASON RICHARDSON As New Guitarist

ALL THAT REMAINS has officially recruited Jason Richardson as the replacement for guitarist Oliver "Oli" Herbert, who passed away in October.

Earlier today, the band released the following statement via social media: "ALL THAT REMAINS would like to clarify that guitarist Jason Richardson is now an official member of the band. Some recent interviews were conducted before a decision was made or announced regarding Jason. But the band has indeed welcomed him into the fold as an official member and is excited to get back on the tour and play for fans."

Regarding how ALL THAT REMAINS ended up linking up with Jason to do the band's recent European shows, vocalist Phil Labonte told Decibel magazine: "Well, we had toured with BORN OF OSIRIS when Jason was in that band and him and Oli had hit it off and become buddies. I'm not sure exactly how much they stayed in contact, but I knew that they would hang out and talk guitar and listen to music and stuff, so when Oli passed away, Jason did a cover of him playing 'Chiron', and then Aaron [Patrick], our bass player, reached out to Jason and said, 'Hey, you sounded really good. Would you be interested in filling in if we went and needed you to come aboard?' He was, like, 'Yeah, dude. I'd love to,' and he did an amazing job. He came in and nailed everything and really kind of saved our ass. He made it easier on us when it comes to the grieving side of it. It relieved pressure about this stuff, the business side that we had planned. The personal side is easier to handle and cope with. The more pressures you can relieve on a situation, the better."

Asked if he felt like the band's performance on the stage was different without Oli, Labonte replied: "I don't know. It's tough for me to answer that kind of question. It's still really new. In the 20 years' time that ALL THAT REMAINS has been a band, there's only been one tour where Oli wasn't ever playing lead guitar. I don't know how to process that yet, I'm not sure how I feel about it yet."

Oli was found dead on October 16 at the edge of the pond on his Stafford Springs, Connecticut property. He was reported missing by his wife about 3 p.m., and his body was found by police face down at the edge of the pond where the water was only a few inches deep.

Herbert began playing guitar at 14. He co-founded ALL THAT REMAINS with Labonte in 1998.

Video Premiere: BLAZE BAYLEY's 'The Dark Side Of Black'

The official music video for the song "The Dark Side Of Black" from British heavy metal vocalist Blaze Bayley (IRON MAIDEN, WOLFSBANE) can be seen below. The track is taken from the third album in his"Infinite Entanglement" trilogy, which was released last March. "The Redempton Of William Black" was third part of the trilogy, bringing the sci-fi concept to a conclusion.

This was the tenth album of Blaze's solo career, following his rise to global fame as singer with IRON MAIDEN (1994-1999). He was chosen for the MAIDEN role after coming to notice with his first band WOLFSBANE, based around home city of Birmingham, England, which is now the location for the recording of all his more recent solo releases.

"The Redemption Of William Black" was co-written with Chris Appleton of fellow British metal band ABSOLVA. Chris, who also co-produced the album and is lead guitarist and backing vocalist in Blaze's band for recording and touring, together with his ABSOLVA bandmates Martin McNee (drums) and Karl Schramm (bass and backing vocals).

Special guests on the album include FOZZY singer Chris Jericho, also of WWE fame, for whom Blaze specially created a character within the "Infinite Entanglement" story. Also, on choir duty is Luke Appleton (ICED EARTH bassist and ABSOLVA rhythm guitarist), as well as Michelle Sciarrotta (choir/voice actor), Jo Robinson (choir), Mel Adams (choir), Liz Owen (backing vocals/choir), Aine Brewer (voice actor) and Rob Toogood (choir/voice actor).

Exclusive: SACRED OATH Premiere Werewolf Themed Music Video For “Twelve Bells”

Exclusive: SACRED OATH Premiere Werewolf Themed Music Video For “Twelve Bells”

Connecticut power metal soldiers Sacred Oath have just finished a new music video for “Twelve Bells” – from their latest album of the same title. BraveWords is premering the horror-inspired video - check it out!

Shot in an antique New England barn, the video plays out the imagination of a little boy who has a deep fear of the dark and bedtime. “I wrote ‘Twelve Bells’ for my son, who loves to play horror-themed video games like ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’, ‘Granny’, and ‘Hello Neighbor’” says the band’s front man Rob Thorne. “By the time he was 5 he wouldn’t go to sleep in his room anymore.”

Thorne’s son is actually in the video -- playing himself! Also featured in the video is hotshot gunslinger Damiano Christian playing the boyfriend-turned-werewolf. Christian has been performing live with Sacred Oath on their Twelve Bells at Midnight tour for the last 18 months as a third guitarist, keyboardist and backing vocalist.

Twelve Bells is the band’s eighth studio album and tenth overall. A NYC show on the recent tour was recorded and an announcement of a live album release is expected.

Would GLENN HUGHES Accept Hypothetical Invitation From DEEP PURPLE To Sing With Band On 'The Long Goodbye' Tour?

Would GLENN HUGHES Accept Hypothetical Invitation From DEEP PURPLE To Sing With Band On 'The Long Goodbye' Tour?

Glenn Hughes says that he has no interest in performing DEEP PURPLE's classic songs with the current version of the group.

Hughes spent key years of his career as the beloved bassist and vocalist of DEEP PURPLE, appearing on the classic albums "Burn", "Stormbringer" and "Come Taste the Band". More recently, he has been playing various hits and deep cuts from the DEEP PURPLE catalog, including "Burn", "Stormbringer", "Sail Away" and "Smoke On The Water", as part of his "Glenn Hughes Performs Classic Deep Purple Live" tour, which was launched in 2017.

Asked in a brand new interview with Finland's Kaaos TV if he would accept a hypothetical invitation from the current DEEP PURPLE lineup to sing at one or more shows during the band's "The Long Goodbye" tour, Hughes said (see video below): "No. I'm doing what I'm doing now. I'm really, really happy playing these songs with my band, and the audiences are very, very happy. We've had great attendances across the world, so I'm really happy about doing that."

Hughes said that he had never done a "complete DEEP PURPLE show" prior to "Glenn Hughes Performs Classic Deep Purple Live".

"For me to do these songs, I had to step back into character," he explained. "I grew my hair again and kind of look '70s. It's not like I'm a nostalgia artist, but in order to do this, I wanted to recreate the look and the vibe and the sound of what it was like in the '70s. I wanted to become an actor, if you will, to do what I do. This is the way I like to look at music — to become an actor and to make the songs come alive."

He added: "You can't hide the fact that I was in one of the greatest bands of all time. And I just think I had to be in the right frame of mind to do it. You can't do this unless you're in the mindset, in the vibe and the smell and the feel. It has to be appropriate. I didn't wanna phone in my vocals. I wanna give everything I can to the audience, so they'll look and go, 'We want more of this.' So that's why I'm doing it."

Hughes and his former DEEP PURPLE bandmate David Coverdale didn't perform with the group at their Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction in April 2016. Hughes later explained to Metal-Rules.com: "There is a band out there called DEEP PURPLE featuring Ian Paice, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover which was essentially Mach 2. Every artist gets to do three songs. Now let me talk to you openly as there was a 99.9 percent chance that Hughes and Coverdale would not be invited to sing. I'm not going to name names, as there is a member who didn't feel it was appropriate that we should sing. So David and I braved it together as we were arm and arm all the way through. But I knew by the end of the night it would not happen. CHEAP TRICK closed the show and they invited us to play with Sheryl Crow and Grace Potter."

Hughes denied that he bothered by the fact that he didn't end up performing with PURPLE at the event. "Am I upset about not singing with DEEP PURPLE? Not at all," he said. "Everybody knows that David and I can sing. Everybody knows that we were in the band. All that mattered to me was accepting the award on behalf of DEEP PURPLE and the fans."

During the "Glenn Hughes Performs Classic Deep Purple Live" tour, Glenn and his band, featuring Søren Andersen (guitars), Mike Mangan (keys), and Ash Sheehan (drums), focus on arrangements from the live albums — not studio recordings — for the classic PURPLE songs.

ROGER WATERS Rant at Trump Over Venezuela is Beyond the Pale

ROGER WATERS Rant at Trump Over Venezuela is Beyond the Pale

On Twitter, former Pink Floyd band member Roger Waters slammed the Trump administration over its policies towards Venezuela and his rant was beyond the pale.

Waters accused Trump of “trying to destroy” Venezuela’s democracy so the “1%” can take all of their oil:

A note from Roger:

THIS IS TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

STOP THIS LATEST USG INSANITY, LEAVE THE VENEZUELAN PEOPLE ALONE. THEY HAVE A REAL DEMOCRACY, STOP TRYING TO DESTROY IT SO THE 1% CAN PLUNDER THEIR OIL.

US HANDS OFF #VENEZUELA! #NICOLASMADURO #STOPTRUMPSCOUPINVENEZUELA

First off anyone who really think Venezuela has a “democracy” has not been following the news. Or at least any reputable sources.

Also if their oil and their “democracy” is such a big deal why are Venezuela’s citizens hunting rats to survive?

Why are millions of it’s citizens fleeing to other countries looking for a better life?

Roger Waters may have been a great musician once, but when it comes to politics he’s just another left wing nutbag.

Sure that if he lived here in the USA he’d feel right at home in today’s Democratic party.

No, TOOL's New Album Won't Be Released In April, Says MAYNARD JAMES KEENAN

No, TOOL's New Album Won't Be Released In April, Says MAYNARD JAMES KEENAN

TOOL singer Maynard James Keenan has shot down rumors that the band's long-awaited new album will arrive in April.

Asked by a fan on Twitter if it's true that TOOL's new disc will be released in two months, Maynard responded simply: "No."

Keenan's latest comment comes a month after TOOL drummer Danny Carey told a fan at the NAMM show in Anaheim, California that "the plan" was for the group's new LP to come out "mid-April."

Carey has made other predictions before about TOOL's fifth full-length album, including saying at one point in late 2017 that the record would be out in 2018. TOOL officially entered the studio in March 2018 to begin recording its first full-length album since 2006's "10,000 Days", with Keenan tweeting last month that he had finished laying down his vocals "months ago." The band has a number of festival appearances already booked in May and June.

Maynard attempted to explain the long gap between TOOL albums in a 2017 interview with "The Joe Rogan Experience". Speaking about his bandmates, the singer said: "Their writing process is so drawn out. And I'm sure there's a lot of reasons why the delay has been long. Their process is very analytical, and I think, at some point, maybe because so much time has gone by from the last album, there has to be a little bit of fear in here. [You think to yourself] 'Is this record gonna be as good as the last one?' The anticipation now is… Now the pressure is huge, so I'm sure there's some of that [that] goes into play."

Keenan spent part of 2018 touring with A PERFECT CIRCLE, whose first album in 14 years, "Eat The Elephant", came out last April.

SHINEDOWN Releases Live Video For 'Get Up'

SHINEDOWN Releases Live Video For 'Get Up'

SHINEDOWN has released a new music video for its anthemic single "Get Up", a collection of behind-the-scenes moments on tour and live footage from the road that gives an inside look into the powerful moments that the song is fostering between the bandmembers and their fans.

The uplifting No. 1 Active Rock and Top 25 Alternative hit, which was heard during the Super Bowl pregame show, has amassed more than 27 million total streams, galvanizing listeners around the globe with its offer of hope, empathy and encouragement in the face of personal struggles, whatever they may be. The powerful song speaks to the human spirit in a time of need, something that front man Brent Smith is deeply connected to after battling his own personal demons.

"Get Up" became a light in the darkness, born out of Brent watching his friend, SHINEDOWN bassist Eric Bass, deal with clinical depression. When Brent put pen to paper, a beautiful, universal song rooted in Brent and Eric's raw vulnerability took shape. Reaching far beyond any genre or label, "Get Up" quickly began resonating, soundtracking "Today" show's look back at 2018, breaking a new record for SHINEDOWN by giving the band the most Rock Airplay Top 10s ever and their 13th No. 1 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Songs chart (the second most in the history of the chart, tied with VAN HALEN), and becoming a fan favorite at arena shows on tour where the crowd response is palpable.

"Attention Attention", SHINEDOWN's sixth studio album, debuted at No. 1 on the Top Rock Albums chart back in May 2018. The follow-up to 2015's "Threat To Survival" marked SHINEDOWN's first full-length effort to be produced entirely by Eric Bass. The 14-song release that tells the story of a character who starts out defeated and slowly overcomes pain and personal struggles and becomes confident at the end. The album also lyrically touches upon Smith's former drug addiction and Bass's depression.

Smith told Classic Rock magazine that "Get Up" is "one of the quintessential songs on the record. I wrote the lyrics to 'Get Up' about Eric, who produced and mixed the record," he said. "Eric faces what is considered to be clinical depression on a daily basis. Some days everything is great, some days the sky is falling in. Often he'll tell me he wishes he could unscrew part of his skull, reach into his brain and take that part of him out and throw it away. But it is a part of him, and he has to work with it. He doesn't have to like it, but he has to respect it. And as a band, we all respect him because of it. It was one of the songs that took the longest to write because I was afraid what Eric was going to think. So this is the part of the record when a person has to have a heart-to-heart chat with themselves in that chair. It's a very conversational piece."

See SYSTEM OF A DOWN's SERJ TANKIAN In O.R.K.'s 'Black Blooms' Video

See SYSTEM OF A DOWN's SERJ TANKIAN In O.R.K.'s 'Black Blooms' Video

SYSTEM OF A DOWN frontman Serj Tankian is featured in the music video for the song "Black Blooms" from O.R.K., featuring Italy's celebrated vocalist, producer and award-winning film score composer Lorenzo Esposito Fornasari a.k.a LEF (lead vocals), KING CRIMSON's Pat Mastelotto (drums), PORCUPINE TREE's Colin Edwin (bass), MARTA SUI TUBI's Carmelo Pipitone (guitar). The track appears on O.R.K.'s new album "Ramagehead", which will be released on February 22 via Kscope. The cover art for the album was created by TOOL guitarist Adam Jones and can be seen below.

"Ramagehead" was created from O.R.K.'s collective vision, unique influences and a multi-layered reflection of their powerful and engaging live experience. The resulting epic contains all the ingredients of a fiery O.R.K. performance with dark and heavy riffing, mesmeric atmospheres. Recorded during 2018 at LefMusicStudio (Italy), The Wormhole (USA) and Nightspace (UK). The mixing for "Ramagehead" was handled by Adrian Benavides and three-time Grammy-winning engineer Marc Urselli (U2, FOO FIGHTERS, Nick Cave), the mastering by Michael Fossenkemper, engineering by Benavides and Bill Munyon (KING CRIMSON), and design by Denis Rodier ("Superman", "Batman", "Wonder Woman").

"Ramagehead" track listing:

01. Kneel to Nothing

02. Signals Erased

03. Beyond Sight

04. Black Blooms (feat. Serj Tankian)

05. Time Corroded

06. Down the Road

07. Some Other Rainbow Part 1

08. Strangled Words

09. Some Other Rainbow

The first single from "Ramagehead", a song called "Kneel To Nothing", emphasizes O.R.K.'s bewilderment brought about by our modern world; a world of technological information overload, of uncertainty and post-truth messages.

LEF explains: "We're not preaching. We'd rather leave the lyrics open to different interpretations, but I guess this is one possible interpretation of the 'Kneel To Nothing' lyrics.

"As musicians, we collaborate across the miles thanks to the Internet, so it goes without saying we aren't against technology in general, but at the same time, it's unarguably clear that the same technology has successfully made its way inside our bodies (and lives) in a potentially dangerous way in the last 20 years. How we react to impulses, live our relationships, and feel in general has become deeply influenced by new tech. We all seem to be trying to outdo each other. We can't get enough of this constant competition through social media, and it's making us more insular in real life. We also place an innate trust in the strength of our senses, but in a evolutionary perspective, we could end up diminishing of all our senses due to our evolving lifestyle. We're becoming too lazy to read an article — let alone a book — too bored to listen to a song that is longer than three minutes, and we relentlessly skip from one impulse to another without really feeling anything. In a way, we're therefore 'slaves.'

"It's not as spooky as the visionary movie directors from the past have pictured it, but it's happening in a subtler, yet still potentially hazardous way. We have somehow we've become both devoted and addicted to our smart phones"

O.R.K. has an extensive live campaign planned in support of "Ramagehead" which will begin in February 2019 with a European headline run as well as being special guests on the continuing "Dissolution Tour" from new label mates THE PINEAPPLE THIEF.

Former GUNS N' ROSES Guitarist GILBY CLARKE To Release 'The Gospel Truth' Solo Album Via GOLDEN ROBOT RECORDS

Former GUNS N' ROSES Guitarist GILBY CLARKE To Release 'The Gospel Truth' Solo Album Via GOLDEN ROBOT RECORDS

Former GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Gilby Clarke has signed a deal with Golden Robot Records. He will release his first solo album in 15 years, "The Gospel Truth", later this year.

Mark Alexander-Erber, Golden Robot founder and president, says: "I couldn't be happier to sign such an incredible artist like Gilby Clarke to our GRR international roster. He is totally authentic through and through. He brings such a wealth of experience to his songwriting, playing and producing and I know the world is ready for his new solo album which is a long time coming. It is an honor to release this record."

Clarke was equally excited about the signing, saying: "I am so happy to be a part of the Golden Robot family for my new solo record. I use the word 'family,' because I feel like I found a home. We share the same passion for rock and roll! Rock and roll is alive and well, and together we will turn it up loud!"

At last month's NAMM show in in Anaheim, California, Clarke stated about the long delay in getting his new solo album completed: "For me, I can't do a record unless I feel good about the songs. I wanna make a record that I wanna listen to. So, these songs I'm really excited about. They're new songs. It really is classic rock. There's really nothing new on it — it's just a new version of what I like to do, which is loud guitars, man. So, I went in there. I used guys like Kenny Aronoff on drums, Steve Perkins — some really great players. I played all the guitars and did all the singing on it. But I think it's good — I think it's a good fresh approach on classic rock, really."

Gilby has spent the last few years working on the disc, which will reportedly feature members of Clarke's solo band, EJ Curse (bass/vocals) and Troy Patrick Farrell (drums/vocals).

Clarke replaced founding guitarist Izzy Stradlin in the GUNS lineup in 1991, during the "Use Your Illusion" tour, and stayed with the band for three years. After exiting GUNS N' ROSES, Clarke continued as a producer and solo artist, while also playing in SLASH'S SNAKEPIT, ROCK STAR SUPERNOVA, HEART and other acts.

Clarke released his solo debut, "Pawnshop Guitars", in 1994.

MISERY INDEX: 'The Choir Invisible' Lyric Video

MISERY INDEX: 'The Choir Invisible' Lyric Video

The official lyric video for the song "The Choir Invisible" from MISERY INDEX can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's new album, "Rituals Of Power", which will be released on March 8 via Season Of Mist.

The band comments: "'The Choir Invisible' is a euphemism for the dead, or those who have passed on. In the context of this song, it is an anthem of the dispossessed and the hopeless.

"Many across the world exist in an 'in-between' state that is often ignored and/or washed over because they lack the power and voice to plead their case as human beings. The song takes up this theme and tells it from the somber view of those who risk their lives, board ships and cross oceans in order to find a better life."

"Rituals Of Power" sees the powerhouse quartet unleash a barrage of ferocious death metal as violent as it is savvy. Their vicious vocals spit venom, laying bare the ills of a dystopian society gone mad. As rampaging new tracks like "New Salem", the title track, and "I Disavow" so brashly prove, "Rituals Of Power" is world-class modern extremity and MISERY INDEX only grows more powerful with time.

"Rituals Of Power" will be released in several formats, including jewel-case CD, limited LP, limited cassette, limited deluxe digibox which includes bonus cover tracks — NAILBOMB's "Wasting Away" and M.O.D.'s "Man Of Your Dreams" — as well as a carabiner with key strap and bottle opener, a patch, and three vinyl stickers, and digitally.

The artwork for "Rituals Of Power" was created by Raphael Gabrio and can be viewed below.

"Rituals Of Power" track listing:

01. Universal Untruths (2:35)

02. Decline And Fall (4:36)

03. The Choir Invisible (4:26)

04. New Salem (3:24)

05. Hammering The Nails (3:46)

06. Rituals Of Power (5:20)

07. They Always Come Back (5:08)

08. I Disavow (4:21)

09. Naysayer (2:26)

MISERY INDEX has announced new European dates together with WORMROT and TRUTH CORRODED in the spring of 2019. The "Rituals Of Power: Phase 1" tour sees the band traveling through eight countries, with a final curtain at the Turock in Essen, Germany.

Video Premiere: ANGRA's 'Magic Mirror'

Video Premiere: ANGRA's 'Magic Mirror'

"Magic Mirror", the new video from Brazilian/Italian metallers ANGRA, can be seen below.

Inspired by the acidity of guitarist Rafael Bittencourt's questioning lyrics, director Pedro Jorge worked on the screenplay for "Magic Mirror" and portrayed its topic with subtlety and poetry. The clip includes the presence of Jaqueline Oliveira and Jéssica Batista, two professional fighters and real warriors in their own lives.

The reflection from the magic mirror reveals that what bothers us in other people is in fact what we need to learn and understand about ourselves. Foes and people that we don't have empathy for give us the opportunity to discover a shocking pathway of personal growth.

"For this video clip, I wanted to show that what we see in the others is actually something inside us," reflects Bittencourt.

"Filming the video clip for 'Magic Mirror' was really important to the band because it's one of my favorite songs from the new record and also because I thought that it had to have a video clip that represented it," explains bass player Felipe Andreoli. "We recorded it in a very nice and creative location and I especially like the fighter scenes in the end that show that they're only one person."

"Magic Mirror" is taken from ANGRA's ninth studio album, "Ømni", which was released in February 2018 via earMUSIC.

"Ømni" was recorded in Sweden with Jens Bogren, who also produced the previous disc, "Secret Garden". Many musicians were involved in creating the album, ranging from the percussion sound of Bahia to European orchestral arrangement — all of which give the album its outstanding variety.

"Ømni" is a concept album, a set of science fiction short stories that take place at various places in time, simultaneously. The backbone of the plot is based on the idea that in 2046 an artificial intelligence system will change human perception and cognition. It is a system which will allow conscious communication between present and future human beings. Characters such as time travellers, cavemen, warriors, among others, help tell this story.

The album connects the concepts of previous LPs ("Holy Land", "Rebirth", "Temple Of Shadows") to one main system, "Ømni", which in Latin means "everything."

ANGRA's trademark formula, a Brazilian style mixed with classical music and heavy metal, is enhanced by different influences such as progressive rock, thrash metal, Latin music, and djent, which transforms the albums into a swirl of modern and familiar. The conjoined moods and dynamics put a special spin on the lyrics and therefore increase deep sense of immersion in the story.

The cover artwork was hand-drawn by Daniel Martin Diaz, a unique American artist who dedicates his life to mixing scientific and philosophical concepts such as anatomy, computer science, mathematics, cosmology, sacred geometry, symbolism and esotericism. The designer Gustavo Sazes was responsible for integrating such an organic art piece to the visual concept of the album as a whole.

In addition to Bittencourt and Andreoli (bass), ANGRA features Fabio Lione (vocals), Marcelo Barbosa (guitar) and Bruno Valverde (drums).

In October 2017, Harnell once again split with TNT, less than a year and a half after he rejoined the group. The singer described his relationship with TNT in an "Unphiltered" interview as "a very long marriage. I'm here [in New York], they're there [in Norway] — they're across the pond really far away. It's a very difficult situation to be in without having a very unified business organization, and no matter what I did, I could not get the thing unified. We were just on two totally separate not only continents physically, but mentally, psychologically, we were on two different continents as well."

According to Harnell, he "really, really wanted" his latest collaboration with TNT to work out. "In my opinion, this was gonna be it — we were gonna stay together until I didn't feel like singing anymore," he said. 'I was gonna do other things and do other projects and so forth, but my goal was that TNT woud be my band for at least another five years, maybe 10 years or whatever, until it ran its course. So this was kind of an unexpected thing."

One thing that Harnell wants "to make clear" is that he "did not quit" TNT "this time. I really haven't quit the band as many times as other people in the band have said and also the press has said," he explained. "Most of the time, it's been either a mutual parting of ways or a break. We've taken several breaks that were just not even talked about — we just didn't record or work [together] for a couple of years and then just started working again. The only time I legitimately actually quit the band was 2006. And then this [latest split] was just sort of a, 'This isn't working.' It was kind of a mutual thing. It [was] working on stage really well — actually, some of the best shows we have ever done were this year. And I was actually really happy. In August [2017], I thought we did some of the best shows we've ever done, and then at the same time, we could not get the business stuff together. And at our age, the business really does have to be organized."

The singer went on to suggest that some of the individuals closely associated with TNT were to blame for his most recent exit from the group. "There are people that often are maybe well-meaning, but there, unfortunately, were people around the band that were, instead of trying to bring the main characters in the band together, they were more… maybe inadvertently — I don't think they were on purpose trying to do this — but they ultimately drove a wedge between the two most important members of the band, and that was ultimately the thing that I think caused this last thing to fall apart," he said.

At the end of the day, Harnell says that he feels "really, really bad" for the TNT fans who were hoping to catch the band live again. "I feel bad about it for myself, because I really wanted this to work so badly. I was having a great time. In fact, I posted three videos, I think, on my page after the last shows that we did because I was so proud of the band for how well I thought we were playing. So, ultimately, I feel very, very bad for all the fans that never got to see the band, 'cause I was really looking forward to coming to America. We were starting to get some really good offers for some really good festivals in the U.S., and I was excited about it. And a lot of other countries and a lot of other things were coming together, and then, all of a sudden, it was done."

Harnell added that was aware of the fact that he was being blamed by many of the TNT fans for his latest departure from the group. "I don't read Blabbermouth — I don't," he said. "I mean, I read the stories, but I don't read the comments under the stories, because those are dangerous to read. But I know just from peeking at my page and having to delete a few things here and there, and over at the TNT page, and then hearing from a few friends some things that the people were saying some not-such-nice things. But, honestly, at the end of the day, I don't really hold it against them, because they don't know. They weren't there, and anything they're hearing is either second-hand or third-hand [information]."

In November 2017, TNT recruited Baol Bardot Bulsara as the band's new singer. The Spanish vocalist made his live debut with TNT at the Oslo Spektrum on Oslo, Norway, where the group performed as the support act for the SCORPIONS.

TNT's first studio album with Baol Bardot Bulsara, "XIII", was released last June via Frontiers Music Srl.

BRANT BJORK To Release 'Jacoozzi' Album In April

BRANT BJORK To Release 'Jacoozzi' Album In April

Desert rock icon Brant Bjork (KYUSS, FU MANCHU) will release a new studio album called "Jacoozzi" on April 5.

Back in 2010, Bjork has just started to record another solo record. About four days into the sessions, he essentially decided to "jam" by himself only and for the rest of his scheduled sessions. When the recording session had come to an end, Brant put eight songs on the shelf as "solo jam session" tracks.

"I was much more content with the 'jam' tracks as it was a creative release that was needed at that time," he says. "I decided to call the collective tracks 'Jacoozzi'. At the time, it reminded me of the feeling of my first solo recording sessions for my first solo release, 'Jalamanta'... only more 'free.'"

Brant initially had no formal plans to release any music from this session. Amost a decade later, Heavy Psych Sounds Records is proud to finally release "Jacoozzi" and this very special trip of a Brant Bjork jam.

"After eight years in the waiting, it's nice to finally have this recording I call 'Jacoozzi' released," Brant comments. "I feel that the fans of my work will enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed performing and recording it."

The first taste of "Jacoozzi", the funky instrumental track "Guerrilla Funk", can be streamed below.

"Jacoozzi" track listing:

01. Can't Out Run The Sun

02. Guerrilla Funk

03. Mexico City Blues

04. Five Hundred Thousand Dollars

05. Black & White Wonderland

06. Oui

07. Mixed Nuts

GRETA VAN FLEET Singer's Laryngitis Forces Australian Concert Cancelations

GRETA VAN FLEET Singer's Laryngitis Forces Australian Concert Cancelations

Michigan rockers GRETA VAN FLEET have been forced to cancel the remaining dates on their Australian tour after singer Josh Kiszka came down with laryngitis, rendering him unable to perform.

GRETA VAN FLEET played in Sydney on Saturday but scrapped Sunday's concert in Birsbane before calling off the rest of the tour.

Josh has since released a statement saying that the band is "already working on a momentous return to make this up to" fans, to be announced "very soon."

Josh's full statement reads as follows:

"Dearest Melbourne fans,

"I have some heartbreaking news. Unfortunately, somewhere between travel from the U.S. to Japan and Australia, I developed an upper respiratory infection that has gradually evolved into laryngitis. I've been trying to recover, but cannot seem to get rid of it. Doctors have informed me that performing in this condition could cause damage to my vocal cords, which is something that I cannot risk, and therefore we must reschedule our shows tonight and tomorrow.

"It means the world to me to be able to perform for you, and it breaks my heart to have to do this, but I must take my health very seriously, so as to not run the risk of causing more serious harm.

"I am terribly sorry to make this announcement. We are already working on a momentous return to make this up to you and will be announcing that very soon.

"I hope you can understand. This has been a difficult situation and disappointing for us all."

GRETA VAN FLEET's debut album, "Anthem Of The Peaceful Army", landed at No. 1 on Billboard's rock chart and No. 3 on the all-genre albums chart last year. It has also reached the Top 10 in Canada, Italy and Germany.

Since its April 2017 breakthrough with the song "Highway Tune", GRETA VAN FLEET has also put out two EPs and has performed on "Saturday Night Live" and "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon".

In December, GRETA VAN FLEET scored four Grammy Award nominations, one for each major rock category — "Best Rock Album", "Best Rock Song", "Best Rock Performance" — and a "Best New Artist" nod.

Dearest Melbourne fans,

I have some heartbreaking news. Unfortunately, somewhere between travel from the US to Japan...Posted by Live Nation Australia & New Zealand on Monday, February 4, 2019

NETFLIX Nearing Deal For U.S. Rights To JAMES HETFIELD's Dramatic Acting Debut

NETFLIX Nearing Deal For U.S. Rights To JAMES HETFIELD's Dramatic Acting Debut

According to Variety, Netflix is nearing deal for U.S. rights and some international territories for the thriller "Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil And Vile", in which METALLICA frontman James Hetfield makes his dramatic acting debut. The deal cost about $8 million.

"Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil And Vile" follows the relationship between notorious serial killer Ted Bundy, played by Zac Efron, and his longtime girlfriend, played by Lily Collins, who at the time had no knowledge of the crimes.

The official trailer for "Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil And Vile" can be seen below.

The Grammy and multi-platinum- and gold-award-winning artist plays officer Bob Hayward, a no-nonsense Utah highway patrol veteran who was the first law enforcement officer to arrest Bundy in 1975 after pulling the killer over and discovering burglary tools in his car but wisely suspecting much worse. While Hetfield has played himself in other films and television productions, this is his first dramatic role taking on a different character.

Academy Award nominee Joe Berlinger ("Paradise Lost") directed. Hetfield and Berlinger have crossed paths before when the latter directed and produced the seminal rock-doc "Metallica: Some Kind Of Monster" along with the late Bruce Sinofsky. Berlinger also penned a book about his experiences with the band, "Metallica: This Monster Lives".

"Having spent hundreds of hours behind the scenes with James and the rest of METALLICA, I have experienced his charisma and powerful presence close up," says Berlinger. "It seemed only natural that he would bring that same power and magnetism to a dramatic role, so when he agreed to my pitch that he be in the movie, I was thrilled."

The original screenplay, written by Michael Werwie, won the Nicholl Fellowship first prize and was featured on the Black List.

Golden Globe and multiple Emmy Award winner Jim Parsons and Academy Award nominees Haley Joel Osment and John Malkovich are also part of the cast along with Kaya Scodelario, Angela Sarafyan, Jeffrey Donovan, Terry Kinney and Dylan Baker.

Efron appeared in James Franco's critically acclaimed comedy "The Disaster Artist" as well as "The Greatest Showman", "Baywatch", "Neighbors" and "Neighbors 2".

"It's very interesting. I think the movie itself is really deep," said Efron to ET last March. "It doesn't really glorify Ted Bundy. He wasn't a person to be glorified. It simply tells a story and sort of how the world was able to be charmed over by this guy who was notoriously evil and the vexing position that so many people were put in, the world was put in."

He added: "It was fun to go and experiment in that realm of reality. I didn't go full method and I didn't have to like do any weird stuff to anybody to get into character."

Collins starred in the critically acclaimed dramas "To The Bone" and "Okja", the latter of which was nominated for the Palme d'Or at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. Collins was also nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress (Comedy) for her starring role in "Rules Don't Apply". She appears in the mini-series "Les Miserables".

The project was announced by Voltage Pictures at Cannes 2017.

MEGADETH: Trailer For 'Warheads On Foreheads' Career Retrospective

MEGADETH: Trailer For 'Warheads On Foreheads' Career Retrospective

On March 22, MEGADETH will celebrate its 35th anniversary with the release of "Warheads On Foreheads", a 35-track career retrospective. The anthology spans the band's entire studio recording career, from its first album "Killing Is My Business…And Business Is Good" to its 2016 Grammy Award-winning release "Dystopia", and will be available as a 3-CD set, a 4-LP set and a digital edition via UMe Recordings. A limited-edition, four-LP set pressed on silver colored vinyl will be available exclusively through the band's online store, with deluxe bundles to be announced. Visit this location for details.

A 15-second trailer for "Warheads On Foreheads" can be seen below.

"Thirty-five years ago, I chose the name MEGADETH for my band and I see these songs as the most efficient weapons in the band's arsenal," says Dave Mustaine. "'Warheads On Foreheads' is a U.S. military term for targeting efficiency. It's all about using the right tool for the job and these tracks were created for maximum destruction (or stopping power, or something else!)."

In 1984, Mustaine was determined to start a new band that would be heavier and faster than his peers. Mustaine's songwriting was rapidly maturing, and he set about combining the attitude and energy of punk, with the power and intricate riffing of metal, along with direct, sociopolitical lyrical content. With David Ellefson on bass and Gar Samuelson on drums, the band recorded its infamous three-song demo which quickly circulated through the underground tape-trading circuit and became an underground hit leading to a deal with Combat Records.

"Warheads On Foreheads" starts at that beginning with the early thrashers "Rattlehead" and "Mechanix" from the band's 1985 debut, "Killing Is My Business…And Business Is Good", an album that would lay down the blueprint and establish MEGADETH as forerunners of what would later be called thrash metal (and recently hailed by VH1 as the greatest thrash metal debut of all time).

MEGADETH was quickly signed by Capitol Records and released its 1986 major label debut "Peace Sells…But Who's Buying?", which became the band's first certified gold record and would go on to become MEGADETH's first platinum-selling release. Featured on "Warheads On Foreheads" are "The Conjuring" and the track "Good Mourning/Black Friday", which Pitchfork describes as "everything great about hardcore, plus a dose of the kind of show-off skill that makes lesser musicians' fingers bleed." Other songs included are "In My Darkest Hour" from its platinum-selling "So Far, So Good, So What!" (1988), "Hangar 18" and "Holy Wars…The Punishment Due" from its Grammy-nominated platinum album "Rust In Peace" (1990), and "Symphony Of Destruction" and "Sweating Bullets" from 1992's Grammy-nominated double-platinum release "Countdown To Extinction". Also featured are "A Tout Le Monde" and "Reckoning Day" from 1994's platinum-selling release "Youthanasia", "Kingmaker" from 2013's Top Ten release "Super Collider", which hit No. 3 on both the Hard Rock Albums and Top Rock Albums charts, "She-Wolf" from the Grammy-nominated Top Ten release "Cryptic Writings" (1997) and the title track from the band's most recent album "Dystopia".

Upon its release in 2016, "Dystopia" reasserted MEGADETH's place at the top of the metal world, equaling the chart impact of their early-nineties output, earning the band its first Grammy, as well as rave reviews (The Guardian gave it five out of five stars and stated "'Dystopia' is an absolutely blistering return to the state-of-the-art bombast and refined technicality.")

MEGADETH burst onto the scene thirty-five years ago, virtually inventing a genre and selling more than 38 million albums worldwide, earning numerous accolades including a 2017 Grammy Award for "Best Metal Performance" for the title track "Dystopia", 12 Grammy nominations, and scoring five consecutive platinum albums. With sheer determination and a relentless recording and touring schedule, MEGADETH worked its way up from headlining clubs to headlining arenas, festival and stadiums, cementing a legacy that continues to grow and spread throughout the world.

Former ARMAGEDDON Members Launch DAUGHTER CHAOS

From the ashes of Swedish melodic death metal band ARMAGEDDON — which featured in its ranks former ARCH ENEMY guitarist Christopher Amott — DAUGHTER CHAOS was born.

Who Are The DIO DISCIPLES 'Dicks'? TIM 'RIPPER' OWENS Responds To LAST IN LINE Singer's Comments

Who Are The DIO DISCIPLES 'Dicks'? TIM 'RIPPER' OWENS Responds To LAST IN LINE Singer's Comments

Tim "Ripper" Owens says that he "doesn't understand" Andrew Freeman's recent comment that "a couple of guys" in the DIO DISCIPLES camp are "dicks."

DIO DISCIPLES is made up of former members of DIO, along with a rotating lineup of singers, including Owens.

Freeman, who formed LAST IN LINE in 2012 with original DIO members Vivian Campbell (guitar), Vinny Appice (drums) and Jimmy Bain (bass), told the "Music Mania" podcast in an interview that while he is on friendly terms with several members of DIO DISCIPLES, "there's a couple of guys in that camp that are dicks — to put it bluntly. And personally, I've been affected by it, because I've been told, 'We can't use you [for shows] because you're playing with Vivian,'" he said. "But that doesn't come from the band guys — that comes from other places… They told me I wasn't gonna be able to do a gig because I played with Vivian. I was just, like, 'Okay.'"

Owens was asked to "provide some clarity" on Freeman's inflammatory comments during a recent interview with ListenIowa.

"I don't understand it," the former JUDAS PRIEST singer said. "I'm actually friends with him and Vinny. I don't know. I didn't listen to the interview, but I guess he said a couple of guys are dicks. All I did then was make a joke out of it on Twitter and said that I'm a dick.

"I've got nothing but good things to say about those guys," he continued. "I think it's fantastic. We're all celebrating Ronnie.

"If anybody has talked bad about each other in the past, I mean, that's a long time ago," Owens added. "Let's all just do it for the ride and not say, 'My band's the official one because we were there first.' Really? Okay. Good. 'And you were fuckin' fired.' You know what I mean? Yeah, those guys were there first, and [the early DIO albums] are some of my favorite records of all time. I would love to watch them play when they're in town and hang out with them. If they came to our show, I'd love to have them come up onstage and play a song."

In a 2016 interview, Vivian slammed DIO DISCIPLES, saying that the band has "zero credibility" as a Ronnie James Dio tribute project despite the fact that it is fully supported by the late singer's wife and manager, Wendy.

"I don't think [LAST IN LINE is] even in the same league as the DIO DISCIPLES," Campbell said. "None of those guys were original members of the band DIO. We're the original band. We're the guys who formed the band with Ronnie. Not only were in the band, but we wrote all the songs with Ronnie. If you look at the writing credits on the first three records, it was very, very much a collaborative creative venture. That's what made the early DIO records so strong."

In December 2017, DIO DISCIPLES guitarist Craig Goldy said in a Facebook post that "certain members" of the original DIO band became motivated by "money" because they "didn't have the same heart for the fans" as Ronnie James Dio did.

STAIND's AARON LEWIS To Texas Crowd: 'I Don't Know How To Speak Spanish. I'm American.' (Video)

STAIND's AARON LEWIS To Texas Crowd: 'I Don't Know How To Speak Spanish. I'm American.' (Video)

STAIND frontman Aaron Lewis cut his country solo concert short Saturday night (February 2) at the Pharr Events Center in Pharr, Texas after he unsuccessfully attempted to quiet the crowd.

Videos posted online show Lewis asking the audience members to lower their chatter before a song.

"I'm gonna try to do something different and special, but you're not gonna hear it if you're not quiet," he added. "No, you don't understand — like fucking church! Quiet.

"I'm only gonna wait for so long, and then I'm just gonna say 'good night.'"

After waiting a few more seconds for the crowd to respond, Lewis continued: "I don't understand what you're not getting. I know I have a microphone, so you can hear me. You're not gonna hear the song unless it's this quiet."

"Tell them in Spanish," one woman suggested before another man shouted, "In español."

Aaron responded: "I'm sorry. I don't know how to speak Spanish. I'm American."

Lewis then made a keep-quiet gesture, putting his finger on his mouth, before strumming a few chords on his guitar. When the crowd refused to stop talking, the visibly agitated singer abruptly stopped, checked his watch and returned to the mic.

"Thank you very much. Have a great night," he said before walking off stage to boos.

According to Data USA, Pharr is roughly 94% Hispanic and 6% white.

This was not the first time Lewis's clash with an audience member has been gone viral.

Two months ago, a video surfaced of Lewis cursing at an Indianapolis concert-goer for calling out song titles while he was singing. "See that bald motherfucker right there," Aaron told the Indianapolis crowd. Make sure his walk out to his fucking car this evening is not that enjoyable."

Lewis, who is widely considered to be one of the most politically conservative musicians in rock, was a staunch critic of President Barack Obama, telling a crowd at one of his solo concerts in 2016: "Barack Obama should have been impeached a long fucking time ago. Every fucking decision he makes is against the Constitution, it's against what's good for our fucking country, and he is truly the worst fucking president that we have ever had in the history of this fucking country."

That same year, Lewis told Billboard that he would support Donald Trump in the U.S. presidential race, even though he was "disappointed" by the real estate mogul "with the bickering and the name-calling." Lewis added that he voted for Senator Ted Cruz, Trump's closest competitor in the Republican nomination race, in the Massachusetts primary.

The STAIND frontman first dipped his toes into country music with his 2011 EP, "Town Line". His second full-length album, "Sinner", arrived in the fall of 2016 and was followed by a stand-alone single, "Folded Flag".

Lewis will release his third full-length country album, "State I'm In", on April 12 via Big Machine imprint Valory Music.

Aaron Lewis in Pharr
One attendee of Saturday night's Aaron Lewis concert in Pharr provided this video, in which he can be heard saying around the 1:44 mark, "I'm sorry, I don't know how to speak Spanish. I'm American," in response to people shouting to speak to them in Spanish. Though attempting to quiet concertgoers, Lewis' remarks only provoked more crowd noise before he eventually walked off stage.

PHILIP ANSELMO Performs PANTERA Classics In São Paulo, Brazil (Video)

PHILIP ANSELMO Performs PANTERA Classics In São Paulo, Brazil (Video)

PHILIP H. ANSELMO & THE ILLEGALS, the project led by the former PANTERA and current DOWN/SUPERJOINT frontman, played a number of PANTERA classics during its January 26 concert at Tropical Butantã in São Paulo, Brazil. Fan-filmed video footage can be seen below.

Anselmo explained his decision to perform PANTERA songs with his solo band during a recent interview with Australia's Heavy magazine.

"This past year has been pretty rough as far as the PANTERA camp goes," he said. "So, with Vinnie's [Paul, PANTERA drummer] passing, I figure, this past year, why not play some of the old songs that people wanna hear and have been asking to hear for a long time. So that's been a different spin on the set, man. And once again, I can't say enough about my guys around me… Mike DeLeon, my guitar player, is really a death metal player, and Blue [José Manuel Gonzalez], my drummer, he comes from death metal roots, and everybody expands, but to ask them to do this PANTERA stuff, it was big, man — it was really big. So, big props to them, man."

Asked if performing classic PANTERA songs brings up good memories or bad memories for him, Anselmo said: "When I'm onstage, it's all good. And I will say there have been some bizarre moments. What freaks me out is the younger audience — the kids whose parents grew up as PANTERA fans in the house. It's amazing. Seeing the youngsters come in and go bananas, man — it's inspiring, man. Yeah, you know, strange feelings here and there, but overall, the payoff's been great."

Up until his death last June, Vinnie remained on non-speaking terms with Anselmo, whom the drummer indirectly blamed for the death of Dimebag, who was his brother.

Vinnie Paul and Dimebag co-founded PANTERA. When PANTERA broke up in 2003, they formed DAMAGEPLAN. On December 8, 2004, while performing with DAMAGEPLAN at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio, Dimebag was shot and killed onstage by a troubled schizophrenic who believed that the members of PANTERA were stealing his thoughts.

Last month, PHILIP H. ANSELMO & THE ILLEGALS announced the addition of former CATTLE DECAPITATION bassist/current SCOUR guitarist Derek Engemann to the group's ranks. Engemann — who takes the place of bass comrade Walter Howard (GRIEVED, OPPRESSIVE FORCE, VAGINAL BEAR TRAP) — is making his live debut with THE ILLEGALS on the band's Latin American tour.

In March, PHILIP H. ANSELMO & THE ILLEGALS will make its way to Australia and New Zealand on the "Thrash Blast Grind" tour with Australian grind practitioners and Housecore Records labelmates KING PARROT. The journey marks Anselmo's first visit to Australia in over five years and includes a headlining set at Slayfest in Perth on March 23. Additional support will be provided by PALM (Japan) and POTION (Australia).

The summer months will find PHILIP H. ANSELMO & THE ILLEGALS playing a host of European festivals, including Graspop Metal Meeting in Belgium, Hellfest in France, and Metaldays in Slovenia, with more performances to be announced in the weeks to come.

PHILIP H. ANSELMO & THE ILLEGALS' sophomore album, "Choosing Mental Illness As A Virtue", was released in January 2018 via Anselmo's Housecore Records in the U.S. and Season Of Mist in other parts of the world. The disc is the follow-up to PHILIP H. ANSELMO & THE ILLEGALS' debut, "Walk Through Exits Only", which came out in 2013 to mostly positive reviews.

OZZY OSBOURNE: 'I'm Not Retiring. I'm Just Not Doing World Tours Anymore'

OZZY OSBOURNE: 'I'm Not Retiring. I'm Just Not Doing World Tours Anymore'

In the two-minute video below, Ozzy Osbourne, who will headline the first-ever Download festival in Japan, talks about his memories of Japan and Japanese audiences.

Despite the fact that "No More Tours 2" is being billed as his farewell tour, Ozzy insists that he is not calling it quits. "I'm not retiring," he says. "I'm just not doing world tours anymore. [In the past, I would] leave my house [in] January and come back at the end of the year. It should be, I'm slowing it down. But I can never say when I'm going to check out. I can never tell."

Last month, Ozzy was forced to postpone the entire European leg of his "No More Tours 2" run on doctors' orders, just one day after postponing the first four dates on the U.K. stretch of the trek. Ozzy was diagnosed with a severe upper respiratory infection which his doctor feels could develop into pneumonia, given the physicality of the live performances and an extensive travel schedule throughout Europe in harsh winter conditions.

Fans who purchased tickets for the shows are advised to hold on to them, as they will be honored for the rescheduled dates. Details of those will be announced in the coming months. Refunds are also available at point of purchase.

Ozzy's final world tour of this size resumes on Sunday, March 9 in Australia. Shows will follow in New Zealand and Japan before a two-month North American leg.

The news of the tour postponement came just days after Ozzy said that he coughed so hard that he burst a blood vessel in his eye. Last October, Ozzy contracted a staph infection that required him to have surgery on his hand and resulted in him canceling several shows.

METALLICA: Pro-Shot Footage Of 'Atlas, Rise!' Performance From Nashville

METALLICA: Pro-Shot Footage Of 'Atlas, Rise!' Performance From Nashville

Professionally filmed video footage of METALLICA performing the song "Atlas, Rise!" on January 24 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee can be seen below.

In the song "Atlas, Rise!", METALLICA frontman James Hetfield calls out Atlas, the Greek mythological figure which was responsible for bearing the weight of the heavens on his shoulders, a burden given to him as punishment by Zeus.

Hetfield told Rolling Stone Australia that he had his METALLICA bandmate Lars Ulrich in mind when he wrote the lyrics to the track. "Lars is, 'I have to do everything, or else it's wrong,'" he explained. "He's got the weight of so much on him. And 'Atlas, Rise!' started out as a, 'Here, let me help you with that. You don't need to carry all that, brother.' And then it morphed into more — and this is not specifically him, but I'm plugging him into this — I think he likes that. There's a drama that makes him work, and we all have a bit of that. He wants the control but he doesn't really have control. The illusion of control, and then the ability to complain about how you have to do everything yourself, and then you still do it."

"Atlas, Rise!" is taken from METALLICA's latest album, "Hardwired… To Self-Destruct", which debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 album chart, selling 291,000 copies in its first week of release.

METALLICA kicked off the 2018/2019 U.S. leg of the "WorldWired" arena tour in September at the Kohl Center in Madison, Wisconsin.

NIRVANA Manager To Release New Book 'Serving The Servant: Remembering Kurt Cobain'

NIRVANA Manager To Release New Book 'Serving The Servant: Remembering Kurt Cobain'

On the 25th anniversary of Kurt Cobain's death comes a new perspective on one of the most compelling icons of our time. With candor, honesty and empathy, Danny Goldberg, one of NIRVANA's managers from 1990 to 1994, shares his memories of his brief but momentous time with Kurt and the band in "Serving The Servant: Remembering Kurt Cobain", due on April 2 via HarperCollins's Ecco Press imprint. The result is a fresh and frank portrait of an icon unlike any that has come before.

When Goldberg agreed to take on NIRVANA, he had no idea that Cobain would become a pop-culture icon with a legacy arguably at the level of that of John Lennon, Michael Jackson or Elvis Presley. Goldberg worked with Kurt from 1990 to 1994, the most impactful period of Kurt's life.

This key time saw the stratospheric success of "Nevermind", which turned NIRVANA into the most successful rock band in the world and made punk and grunge household terms; Kurt's meeting and marriage to the brilliant but mercurial Courtney Love and their relationship that became a lightning rod for critics; the birth of their daughter, Frances Bean; and, finally, Kurt's public struggles with addiction, which ended in a devastating suicide that would alter the course of rock history. Throughout, Goldberg stood by Kurt's side as manager and close friend.

Drawing on Goldberg's own memories of Kurt, files that previously have not been made public, and interviews with, among others, Kurt's close family (including Courtney Love), friends, and former bandmates (including Krist Novoselic), "Serving The Servant" sheds an entirely new light on these critical years. Casting aside the common obsession with the angst and depression that seemingly drove Kurt, "Serving The Servant" is an exploration of his brilliance in every aspect of rock and roll, his compassion, his ambition, and the legacy he wrought-one that has lasted decades longer than his career did. Goldberg also explores what it is about Kurt Cobain that still resonates today, even with a generation who wasn't alive until after Kurt's death.

Thurston Moore (SONIC YOUTH): "Insightful, passionate and clear-eyed, Danny Goldberg's account of his personal and professional relationship with Kurt Cobain is required reading for not only NIRVANA enthusiasts, but anyone interested in how the corporate music industry engaged with the punk rock underground of the early 1990s. While providing an intimate view of the support system the band had from a world their scene was historically at odds with, Goldberg shares what is essentially the story of two men, a generation apart, who became unexpected friends through a mutual appreciation of feminism, LGBT rights, and a dedication to the activist power of music. It is a contemplative requiem to losing someone you love who immeasurably touched the entire planet with a singular magic."

Joan Jett: "As soon as I started reading, I got sucked in and I couldn't put it down. As a huge NIRVANA fan, it is petrifying to even attempt a description or enlightened comment about Kurt. I just want to say, any music fan should want this book. Any NIRVANA fan must have this book."

Cameron Crowe: "There have been many portraits of Kurt Cobain, but none as warm and clear-eyed as this one. Danny Goldberg has always been one of my favorite observer/journalist/architects of popular culture. It's no surprise that his deeply personal memoir does what Cobain's best work does. It burrows in deep, and sticks around. Add this to the rich sonic legacy of NIRVANA — Goldberg's soulful account of Cobain as a close friend, gone way too soon, yet vividly alive on every page of this remarkable book. Bravo, Danny."

FLAT EARTH Feat. Former HIM And AMORPHIS Members: 'Subhuman' Lyric Video

FLAT EARTH Feat. Former HIM And AMORPHIS Members: 'Subhuman' Lyric Video

The official lyric video for the song "Subhuman" from FLAT EARTH, the new band featuring former HIM members Mikko "Linde" Lindström (guitar) and Mika "Gas Lipstick" Karppinen (drums) alongside ex-AMORPHIS bassist Niclas Etelävuori and POLANSKI singer Anttoni "Anthony" Pikkarainen, can be seen below. The track is taken from FLAT EARTH's debut album, "None For One", which was released in November via Drakkar Entertainment in Europe excluding Finland (where the effort was made available through the band's own label Suur Etikett). The disc was recorded at Finnvox in Helsinki with producer Hiili Hiilesmaa, who has previously worked with HIM, AMORPHIS, THE 69 EYES and APOCALYPTICA, among others.

According to a press release, "None For One" contains eleven tracks that "deliver a magnetically melodic sound and are thoroughly permeated by vocalist Anthony's passionately melancholic overtones. FLAT EARTH delivers in the same parcel both the beauty and the beast."

The cover artwork for "None For One" was created by Minna Niskanen and can be seen below.

Track listing:

01. Subhuman

02. Blame

03. Given Time

04. Cyanide

05. None For One

06. The Glow

07. Noble Swine

08. Limelight

09. Freedoom

10. Blunt

11. Kill My God

FLAT EARTH was formed after Etelavuori fell out with the manager of AMORPHIS and exited the latter band. Suddenly, Niclas was left stranded. He decided to show the world that he still had a lot to give, so he started looking for possible bandmates.

Niclas explains: "After over two decades playing with bands, I was at a point thinking that maybe I start doing something else. But then I knew I had these songs on my hard drive still, and nothing was done with them. And I just wanted to get rid of them and see what happens. But then it kind of took over and I started to focus more on that."

Linde first sprang to mind, even though he still had his hands full with HIM at that time. Nevertheless, the two of them kept meeting regularly, and started working on ideas for new songs. Getting Anthony on board provided additional inspiration. And when their old bandmate Karppinen finally joined on drums, the group's lineup was completed.

While Linde was busy playing the States and Europe on HIM's farewell tour, the remaining trio spent their time recording drums to seven pilot demos that had previously been taped in Niclas's basement studio. Gas brought along two of his own songs, and Anthony composed a new track for the band. Linde found an old song of his he had first fleshed out when he was only 13. The rest of the tracks were Niclas's ideas mainly, treated to the band's arrangements, with Anthony providing both the vocal melodies, as well as the lyrics. The basic structure for the first album was ready.

Linde remembers: "Our common friend, who's been helping us get this band off the ground, recommended a guy named Anttoni 'Anthony' Pikkarainen, who had been singing in a band named POLANSKI. The band had made a record, and after we'd listened to it, we had to set up a meeting immediately.

"I have a great feeling about our new band. Anthony had recorded with Hiili Hiilesmaa before, and the rest of us have known each other for years. It feels as if all the stars have finally aligned."

FLAT EARTH is:

Mikko "Linde" Lindström (HIM) - Guitar

Mika "Gas Lipstick" Karppinen (HIM) - Drums

‪Niclas Etelävuori (AMORPHIS) - Bass

‪Anttoni "Anthony" Pikkarainen (POLANSKI) – Vocals

WARRIOR SOUL To Release 'Rock 'N' Roll Disease' Album In May

WARRIOR SOUL, the band fronted by legendary singer Kory Clarke, will release a new studio album, titled "Rock 'N' Roll Disease", on May 19.

For the disc, Clarke used the same writing team and musicians who played on 2017's acclaimed "Back On The Lash" LP.

Tentative songtitles set to appear on "Rock 'N' Roll Disease" include "Over The Top" and "Off My Face".

"We are going for the same feel as 'Lash' but honing it in more and picking it up a bit," says Clarke. "'Back On The Lash' was raw, fun and loose, this is too, but we are pushing it all over the top."

WARRIOR SOUL released released a trio of albums on the Geffen major label during the '90s, beginning with its classic 1990 debut, "Last Decade Dead Century".

Having initially split in 1995 following the release of "The Space Age Playboys", WARRIOR SOUL was resurrected in 2007 by Clarke, who has issued several albums since: "Destroy The War Machine" (2008), "Stiff Middle Finger" (2012) and the aforementioned "Back On The Lash".
