ARRIVAL OF AUTUMN To Release 'Harbinger' Album In March; First Single Out NowCanadian metal upstarts ARRIVAL OF AUTUMN will release their second full-length album and Nuclear Blast debut on March 29. "Harbinger" was produced and mixed by Jason Suecof (DEVILDRIVER, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, ALL THAT REMAINS, TRIVIUM) and mastered by Alan Douches (DARKEST HOUR, EVERY TIME I DIE, SUICIDE SILENCE).
The first single, "The Endless", can be streamed below.
"'Harbinger' is a warning for all of us to pay attention to what's going on in the world and improve what we can before it's too late," commented vocalist Jamison Friesen. "'The Endless' questions if we're disposable pawns in a game that we're born playing. Do we have the free will to escape, or is humanity doomed to be trapped in a loop?"
"Harbinger" track listing:
01. Hurricane On The Horizon
02. End Of Existence
03. Witness
04. The Horror
05. Old Bones // New Blood
06. Better Off Without
07. Symbiotic
08. An Omen Of Loss
09. The Endless
10. Apocalyptic
A demo version of the song "The Horror" can now be heard on Spotify or YouTube.
ARRIVAL OF AUTUMN started as a band with a mission to play music without compromise and carve its way through the music scene on its own terms. Coming from a small city in Northern Canada, this was a necessary strategy, since the band didn't come up in a big city scene with regular promoters, venues and attendees.
After touring in support of two self-released albums, "Endless Nights" and "Shadows", the band began plotting its next release. On a whim, they decided to send some of the new demos to one of their heroes, Jason Suecof at Audiohammer Studios, to see if he would be interested in recording them. To the band's absolute surprise, Jason liked what he heard, and found time between some of the heavy-hitters that he had been working on to record the material. This was an opportunity the band couldn't pass up, and immediately started planning the trip of flying over 3,000 miles, from one end of the continent of North America to the other, to record the best songs the band had ever written.
Fast forward to after two successful recording sessions produced by Jason Suecof and mastered by Mark Lewis, the band was able to attract the attention of A&R legend Monte Conner. Conner was impressed with what he heard and quickly struck a deal with the band. With such a rapid ascent thus far, there's no telling what great things lurk in ARRIVAL OF AUTUMN's not-too-distant future.
ARRIVAL OF AUTUMN is:
Jamison Friesen - vocals
Brendan Anderson - lead guitar
Kevin Student - bass
Ryan Sorensen - guitar

BRING ME THE HORIZON Scores First U.K. No. 1 Album With 'Amo'According to Billboard, British rockers BRING ME THE HORIZON scored their first No. 1 album in the U.K. with their latest effort, "Amo". The disc had combined first-week units of 27,000, with 61% of its sales on CD or vinyl.
The band's previous best album chart showing was No. 2 with 2015's "That's The Spirit".
BRING ME THE HORIZON thanked the fans for the achievement, saying; "Thank you to everyone in the U.K. for getting our new album 'Amo' to No. 1. Thanks for buying it and streaming it and showing us support — it really means a lot to us. Thank you very much, we love you."
The record failed to crack the Billboard 200 album chart's Top 10 however, settling for a No. 14 debut with sales in North America of just over 26,000 units — close to the U.K. tally. Around 16,000 of those were physical copies.
"Amo" was released on January 25 via Columbia Records. The band spent last summer writing and recording in Los Angeles, with singer Oli Sykes and keyboardist Jordan Fish handling production.
Oli told Zane Lowe about the musical direction of "Amo": "We didn't really know what we wanted, but we just knew we wanted to be different. We wanted to still be BRING ME THE HORIZON, but make people feel the things they felt with us in different ways and try to do it sonically different. And it took a while to find that sound and stuff, 'cause I think, for me, I love the fact that I can sing now and I can write these lyrics that have important messages and they can almost stick in people's heads, so that they're easier to get across. So, for us, we still wanted those huge choruses, but I feel like we had so much experimentation in us that we've been dying to do for maybe the last five years or so."
Last month, BRING ME THE HORIZON kicked off of its Live Nation-produced North American headline tour, to be followed by shows in South America, Australia and a plethora of festivals around the world. 7

IRON FIRE Release “Beyond The Void” Single, Lyric VideoDanish power metal veterans Iron Fire have released a lyric video for the title track from forthcoming album Beyond The Void, due out on March 8th via Crime Records.
How do you top great power metal albums like Voyage Of The Damned and Among The Dead? This melting pot of heavy metal madness is mixed and mastered by legendary producer Tue Madsen (The Haunted, Dark Tranquillity, Madball etc.).
Beyond The Void is an album spanning a musical range from Testament to Judas Priest to Helloween and beyond. Fans of good heavy metal songwriting should give this new creation a spin.

LANCE KING - Former PYRAMAZE, BALANCE OF POWER Singer Announces New Release Date For ReProgram AlbumLegendary singer Lance King, original voice behind Pyramaze, Avian, Balance Of Power and Gemini will release his second solo album on March 29th on Nightmare Records. Originally due February 15th, King’s ReProgam album is now digitally available to preorder on iTunes and Amazon.
Of course, given Lance King’s pedigree, and his famous musician friends, the song also features powerful, uplifting, and catchy music - only this time King has given the music born from this unique convergence of talent and inspiration a new name: celestial metal.
“I chose the phrase ‘celestial metal’ because I see my solo material different from anything I’ve done before,” King said. “This time, I believe the music came to us from outside of ourselves. From the heavens, the universe and the energies of intent being projected from everyone around us. I believe ReProgram is for everyone who wants to rise above, to be the best version of themselves, to truly live life.
What’s bigger than celestial? And what’s more powerful than metal?
King adds, "I set out to write happy metal songs thinking the world needs more happy music, especially 'heavy' happy music! But that isn't came out of us. The lyrics are moody and deal with the common struggle of being stuck in an unhappy life by our conditioning... but this programming can be changed! Reprogram is my story, but I believe it can become your story, too. I invite you to take this Celestial Metal journey with me…"
Musicians featured on ReProgram include:
Kim Olesen - (Anubis Gate)
Markus Sigfridsson - (Darkwater/Harmony)
Matt Hodsdon - (Chaos Frame)
Rich Hinks - (Annihilator/Aeon Zen)
Morten Gade Sørensen (Pyramaze/Anubis Gate)

TRUTH CORRODED Reveal “To The Carnal Earth” Lyric VideoAustralian death thrashers Truth Corroded have unleashed the lead single and lyric video for “To The Carnal Earth” from the band's soon to be released new album Bloodlands which features a guest solo from the legendary Terrance Hobbs of Suffocation. The new album will be released on March 22nd through iconic extreme music label Unique Leader Records.
Commenting on the song, bassist Greg Shaw offers “‘To The Carnal Earth' is the opening song from our upcoming album, and it is an absolute privilege to feature Terrance for a guest solo. We were very fortunate to have toured alongside Suffocation in Asia and Europe and became good friends with the band. The solo is completely off the hook and is both signature of the Hobbs style and fitting to the era and influences of the song. It also sums up what you can anticipate from the new album."
Terrance stands alongside a host of impressive guest artists on the new album which include Stephen Carpenter of the Deftones, Mark Kloeppel of Misery Index, Ryan Knight formerly of The Black Dahlia Murder and ex-Suffocation drummer Kevin Talley.
Artwork for the album was created by Gary Ronaldson at Bite Radius Designs (Napalm Death, Misery Index, Benighted) and captures the dark concept underlying the album’s title.
"Both the album title and new song regard war and what compels a person to fight. The title refers to lands that have soaked up the blood of the fallen to give growth to later conflict, and the new song relates to what compels conflict and what it preys upon" adds Shaw.

Video: DEE SNIDER Performs Solo Material, TWISTED SISTER Classics In SydneyFan-filmed video footage of Dee Snider's February 1 concert at the Manning Bar in Sydney, Australia can be seen below.
Snider's Australian tour includes dates in Sydney and Melbourne, where the TWISTED SISTER frontman is performing two shows per city, one "spoken" and one "shouted."
Snider recently said that the decision to end TWISTED SISTER was partly motivated by his desire to go out while he can still put on a great show.
TWISTED SISTER called it quits in 2016 after completing a farewell 40th-anniversary tour. The band's last-ever concert took place in November of that year — 20 months after the passing of TWISTED's longtime drummer A.J. Pero.
Speaking to "The Animal House Radio Show" about TWISTED SISTER's retirement, Snider said: "Look, nobody beats gravity. Show me anybody in the history who's beaten gravity. Everybody gets pulled down sooner or later. What did Dirty Harry say? 'A man's gotta know his limitations.' I feel I know things are wearing out — they're wearing out. And I'm in great shape, I stay healthy, but you can't beat gravity."
He continued: "One of the things that prompted me, and this is not a slight on SLAYER or Tom Araya in any fashion, but it was very disturbing. I read a review and it said, 'And Tom talked about the fact that he can no longer headbang onstage, 'cause he's literally damaged his neck.' And he says, 'I defined myself as the guy who thrashed onstage as hard as the audience, and now all I can do is stand there and groove.' And I said, 'That's what I don't want to happen.' I wanna get off the stage while I'm still [able to do what I am known for], and I was, throwing my body on the floor, crawling around, headbanging, thrashing. I'm out there performing [and] I don't do those things anymore, because it's like an athlete — you damage your stuff. But to be up there and to feel that… I just felt his pain, saying, 'I defined myself by thrashing and I can't do it anymore. And I'm still up there.' And it hurt me to hear him say it. And I said, 'I can't have that be me."
Snider, who released an acclaimed solo album called "For The Love Of Metal" last July, went on to say that he has no desire to hit the road with the same intensity as he used to back in TWISTED SISTER's heyday. "People are asking me, 'Hey, 'For The Love Of Metal', are you gonna do a full tour? And I'm, like, 'No!'" he said. "And they're, like, 'What do you mean 'no'?' I said, 'Are you kidding me? I'm not getting back on the bus or the van.' 'Well, THE [ROLLING] STONES are doing it.' They've got private jets. They set up camp in the Alsatian mountains somewhere in France, in a big estate, and they fly out for each show in a private jet. I mean, somebody wipes their freakin' ass, for god's sake. If you're on that level, awesome. But getting back and going city to city to city to city — no! It's not happening."
Produced by HATEBREED frontman Jamey Jasta, "For The Love Of Metal" features contributions from Howard Jones (ex-KILLSWITCH ENGAGE), Mark Morton (LAMB OF GOD), Alissa White-Gluz (ARCH ENEMY), Joel Grind and Nick Bellmore (TOXIC HOLOCAUST), and Charlie Bellmore (KINGDOM OF SORROW). 1

ALTER BRIDGE To Enter Studio Next MonthALTER BRIDGE will enter the studio next month to begin recording the follow-up to 2016's "The Last Hero" album.
Guitarist Mark Tremonti, who has spent much of the last year touring with his band TREMONTI, confirmed ALTER BRIDGE's plans for a new LP during an interview with Rockwell Anderson of The Edge aboard this year's ShipRocked cruise.
"[ALTER BRIDGE is] going into this studio after [TREMONTI's] tour with SEVENDUST," he said (see video below). "We're gonna go into studio in March and April. And then after that, I go back on tour with TREMONTI and then go back on tour with ALTER BRIDGE this winter."
Last fall, ALTER BRIDGE singer Myles Kennedy told Myglobalmind that "a whole bunch of ideas" were "being thrown around" for the band's sixth album. "It's pretty exciting stuff. There is too early to tell what the vibe is just yet or what will make the cut," he said. "Mark and I tend to come up with a lot of ideas that we throw up against the wall to see what will stick. The songs we pick will decide the mood of the record and we won't know that until April."
ALTER BRIDGE's fifth studio album, "The Last Hero", was released in October 2016 via Caroline Records in the United States/Canada and Napalm Records throughout the rest of the globe. The 13-track opus was produced by longtime friend and collaborator Michael "Elvis" Baskette (SLASH, TREMONTI, TRIVIUM) and mastered by Grammy Award winner Ted Jensen.

MEGADETH's DAVID ELLEFSON: 'We've Never Written Songs To Win Grammys'MEGADETH was honored with its first-ever Grammy nearly two years ago. The band received the "Best Metal Performance" award for the title track of its latest album, "Dystopia". This marked the group's twelfth Grammy nomination in this category (including nominations in the discontinued "Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance" category).
Speaking to the Recording Academy, MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson said that he and his bandmates didn't expect to finally get the trophy after so many years of going home empty-handed.
"We've never written songs to win Grammys, or any awards, quite honestly," he said (see video below). "We just write songs. And it seems like if we like 'em, our fans like 'em and it just sort of tentacles out and it grows from there.
"I think with 'Dystopia', there was this moment where it was kind of, like, 'If they don't like this, we're out of ideas,'" he continued. "Because every record you make, you're essentially creating your next future. And I don't care who you are and how great of a record you feel you've made, when you first put it on for somebody to hear it, there's always this moment of, 'Oh, God. I hope they like this.' We certainly have had that with every album, and I think with 'Dystopia', we held our heads high and went, 'I think we've got a good one here.' And it seems to have done the trick to get us to the winners' circle."
The Grammys are voted on by approximately 13,000 Recording Academy members, who are comprised of artists, songwriters, producers and engineers. More than 21,700 recordings were submitted for Grammys consideration in 2017.
MEGADETH is currently working on the follow-up to "Dystopia" for a late 2019 release.
The band will support OZZY OSBOURNE on the next North American leg of the BLACK SABBATH singer's "No More Tours 2" in May, June and July 2019. 12

WHITESNAKE: Listen To 'Slow An' Easy' (U.S. Mix, 2019 Remaster)' From 'Slide It In' 35th-Anniversary Edition"Slow An' Easy" (U.S. Mix, 2019 Remaster)" from WHITESNAKE can be streamed below. The track is featured on the upcoming 35th-anniversary edition of the band's 1984 album, "Slide It In".
WHITESNAKE scored its first platinum-selling album with "Slide It In", a release that has sold more than four million copies worldwide thanks to hard-rocking songs like "Love Ain't No Stranger", "Slow An' Easy" and the title track. The classic album turns 35 this year and Rhino is celebrating with several new versions, including an enormous seven-disc box set.
"Slide It In: The Ultimate Special Edition" will be available on March 22. The 6CD/DVD collection includes newly remastered versions of both the U.K. and U.S. mixes of the album, plus unreleased live and studio recordings, music videos, concert footage, and a new interview with WHITESNAKE founder and lead singer, David Coverdale. The music comes with a 60-page hardbound book that's filled with rare photos and memorabilia from the era.
Three other versions of "Slide It In" will also be available the same day. A double-CD "Deluxe Edition" includes the newly remastered U.K. and U.S. mixes expanded with a selection of bonus tracks. The double-LP "Deluxe Edition" features the newly remastered U.K. and U.S. mixes. And finally, a single-disc version includes the newly remastered U.S. mix. The music will be available digitally as well.
After releasing "Saints & Sinners" in 1982, WHITESNAKE reconvened the following year in Germany to begin recording songs for what would become the band's sixth studio album, "Slide It In". At the time, band members included Coverdale, guitarists Micky Moody and Mel Galley, bassist Colin Hodgkinson and keyboardist Jon Lord. The album was initially released in 1984 in the U.K., where it climbed into the Top 10.
Soon after, the band's lineup changed. Lord left to rejoin DEEP PURPLE and Moody and Hodgkinson were replaced by guitarist John Sykes and Neil Murray, who was WHITESNAKE's original bassist. Prior to its U.S. release in 1985, "Slide It In" was remixed while newly recorded parts by Sykes, Murray and keyboardist Bill Cuomo were added, resulting in two distinct versions of the album, both of which are included in this set.
"Slide It In: The Ultimate Special Edition" features unreleased versions of every album track, including 35th-anniversary remixes made this year, as well as monitor mixes recorded in 1983. The set boasts more than a dozen unreleased live recordings from 1984 that feature an entire concert from Glasgow, Scotland, plus several songs from Lord's final show with WHITESNAKE in Sweden. The collection's final disc unearths 30 tracks that cover original demos and early mixes for album tracks, as well as unfinished song ideas.
Coverdale says: "'Slide It In' was always meant to be a structured, more electric modern take on the classic blues-based hard rock that WHITESNAKE were famous for — but our new hook city hooligan, mixer extraordinaire Christopher Collier, has hand-tooled this classic record for the 21st century.
"Hearing all the performances so fresh and so clear after 35 years was amazing. Mel, Cozy and Jon's playing on the record is as vital now as it was all those years ago. All the featured players shine.
"Not only did Christopher get the best out of the recording, but he gives the album a fresh coat of sonic paint bringing it right up to date. I'm personally thrilled with it."
The complete track listing can be found at Whitesnake.com.

KISS frontman Paul Stanley recently said about the "End Of The Road" tour and stage production: "People say is this bittersweet? No. If the tour is anything like this stage, it's totally sweet. We always try to raise the bar — that's just for us — but when other bands would see us, they would feel they had to up their game. Let me tell you something: everybody better start working out, because we're upping the game that much more. This is absolutely mind-bogglingly good. It's totally KISS. And I'll be looking for you on the 'End Of The Road' tour."
KISS guitarist Tommy Thayer told Australia's Hysteria Magazine that the group's farewell tour will be "the biggest" one the band has ever done "in terms of production." It will be "a whole new thing for KISS," the guitarist said. "It's just gonna be the bombastic show KISS has always been famed for."
In September, KISS announced its "End Of The Road" farewell tour on NBC's "America's Got Talent", and a month later, the band revealed the first set of dates and cities in North America, produced by Live Nation. International markets were announced simultaneously.
The first North American leg of "End Of The Road" will hit an additional 42 cities.
"One thing for sure is that this is the last tour," Stanley told Billboard. "What goes beyond that is really hard to say. The tour may go three years, but once we play your city, it is done. That is our big thank you."
The lineup features the current version of the band — Stanley, Thayer, Gene Simmons and Eric Singer. But Stanley has hinted that former members like Ace Frehley and Peter Criss could make appearances.

New Year's Eve OZZFEST Was Attended By More Than 12,000 Hard Rock And Heavy Metal FansAccording to Pollstar, the special one-night-only New Year's Eve Ozzfest, which took place on December 31 at The Forum in Los Angeles, California, was attended by 12,465 hard rock and heavy metal fans. Ticket sales from the Live Nation-produced concert totaled $1.2 million, with tickets priced from a low of $59.50 to $179.50.
Joining headliner Ozzy Osbourne at the event were Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson, KORN's Jonathan Davis (playing a solo set) and BODY COUNT. ZAKK SABBATH, the BLACK SABBATH tribute band fronted by Osbourne's guitarist Zakk Wylde, headlined a second stage outside.
Ozzfest started more than 20 years ago and was the first national music festival of its kind dedicated to hard rock music.
The event has not been a traveling festival in the U.S. since 2007's "free" edition. The show morphed into a one-off event in Dallas in 2008, took 2009 off and played just six cities in 2010.
Over 17,000 concert-goers were in attendance for 2017's all-day Ozzfest, which was headlined by Ozzy, while Rob Zombie closed out the next day's Knotfest bill.
2017 was the second year Ozzy's Ozzfest had merged with SLIPKNOT's Knotfest for a two-day heavy metal juggernaut. 2

Video Premiere: ELUVEITIE's 'Ategnatos'Swiss folk metallers ELUVEITIE will release their new album, "Ategnatos", on April 5 via Nuclear Blast. The official music video for the title track can be seen below. The clip was produced in January by the Polish company Grupa13. The cover artwork for the disc was created by Travis Smith.
The band states: "'Ategnatos' probably became our most organic album by all accounts. It is the result of a thoroughly intuitive process, where we gave creativity full scope. And during this process quite some back-to-the-roots developments emerged in diverse aspects. Many a riff off 'Ategnatos' reminds on the guitar work on 'Slania'. Following our gut feeling, we brought the mixing duties back to Jens Bogren's Fascination Street studios, where our Nuclear Blast debut was produced. And regarding the album artwork, it soon became very clear to us that we'd love to work with the fabulous Travis Smith again, who already created the front covers of our albums 'Spirit' (14 years ago!) and 'Everything Remains As It Never Was'. And we're honestly excited with the result! The front cover shows a spectacular scenery in central Switzerland, a so-called 'vulva cave', as it was sought to mark sacred rites of fertility and celebrations of life in ancient times! The artwork mystically and beautifully expresses the 'Ategnatos''s very core and essence! Once again, it was a pleasure to work with Travis!"
Recordings for "Ategnatos" took at New Sound Studio with their engineer of choice Tommy Vetterli.
A work based on archaic archetypes and the ancient concept of renewal, "Ategnatos" unfolds an elemental force to be reckoned with. "These archetypes are still within us," leader Christian "Chrigel" Glanzmann says. "People didn't change that much during the last 3000 years — and men were always just men." No wonder the album follows a decidedly darker, monumental tone that suits them very well.
Of course, ELUVEITIE has long had its very own trademark sound, a sonic adventure often copied but never overcome. With "Ategnatos", the dedicated nine-piece not only worked with a real string quartet and granted Fabienne Erni's sublime mastery of the harp the room it deserved; they also undertook a holistic upgrade resulting in some of the catchiest, most aggressive and most epic tunes the Swiss metal nobility has ever offered.
ELUVEITIE will embark on a European tour with LACUNA COIL and INFECTED RAIN in November.
ELUVEITIE in May 2016 announced the departure of drummer Merlin Sutter, vocalist Anna Murphy and guitarist Ivo Henzi.
The band's new lineup made its live debut at the Eluveitie & Friends festival in January 2017 at Z7 in Pratteln, Switzerland.
ELUVEITIE is:
Jonas Wolf - guitars
Matteo Sisti - whistles, bagpipes, mandola, bodhran
Nicole Ansperger - fiddle
Alain Ackermann - drums
Chrigel Glanzmann - vocals, whistles, mandola, bagpipes
Fabienne Erni - vocals, celtic harp
Kay Brem - bass
Michalina Malisz - hurdy gurdy
Rafael Salzmann - guitars 7

JOHN 5 AND THE CREATURES: 'Crank It - Living With Ghosts' VideoJOHN 5 AND THE CREATURES — comprised of former MARILYN MANSON and current ROB ZOMBIE guitarist John 5, bassist Ian Ross and drummer Logan Miles Nix — has launched another music video from its forthcoming full-length album, "Invasion". The trippy clip for the two-part track titled "Crank It - Living With Ghosts" begins as a fluorescent, glow-in-the-dark extravaganza, transitioning with the music to something altogether more sinister.
The video for "Crank It - Living With Ghosts" was directed by Israel Perez and features costumes and masks made by Forgotten Saints LA and Scott Blake's Yordreem Creations. The video was produced by Nicole Hatley, with art direction by Cody Varona.
John 5 says about the video: "This video begins with total acid-trip rave party for 'Crank It', and the second portion of the song, 'Living With Ghosts', is the comedown. This video depicts all of the things you secretly want when you go to a party — craziness, indulgence. It's full of everything you could want — guitars, tits and monsters!"
The launch of "Crank It - Living With Ghosts" closely follows the release of the first single cut from "Invasion", titled "Zoinks!" The full video features an innovative blend of classic 2D hand-drawn animation, 3D computer-generated imagery and a live-action performance.
Just like 2017's "Season Of The Witch", "Invasion" — produced and mixed by Barry Pointer and scheduled for release during the summer of 2019 — will be entirely released via a series of music videos. With "Zoinks!" and "Crank It - Living With Ghosts" now out in the wild, John 5 plans to reveal his next music video for "I Am John 5" (an official sequel to "Zoinks!") on March 1. Details on further music videos are coming soon.
JOHN 5 AND THE CREATURES will kick off their North American "Invasion" tour on February 26 in Mesa, Arizona. Select dates of the tour — specifically the shows in Mesa; Hollywood, California; Anaheim, California; and Sacramento, California — will feature very special, high-caliber mystery guests to be announced very soon. The tour will feature support from blues-rock guitarist Jared James Nichols. 4

Listen To Snippet Of New HELLYEAH SongHELLYEAH has released what appears to be a snippet of a brand new song from the band's upcoming album. The LP will mark the group's final effort with drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott, who passed away in June 2018.
Vinnie Paul died of dilated cardiomyopathy, an enlarged heart, as well as severe coronary artery disease. His death was the result of chronic weakening of the heart muscle — basically meaning his heart couldn't pump blood as well as a healthy heart.
Not long before his death, Vinnie laid down the drum tracks for HELLYEAH's sixth album.
Like the last two records, 2016's "Unden!able" and 2014's "Blood For Blood", the new disc was recorded at The Hideout Recording Studio in Las Vegas, Nevada with producer Kevin Churko.
Vinnie Paul revealed in January 2018 that HELLYEAH was "close to about halfway" done recording its sixth LP, which he said was sounding "amazing." He added: "Every record since 'Blood For Blood' has just been a big, gigantic mountain for us to build and build and this one has already reached a plateau that I know is gonna be… It's gonna top 'Unden!able'."
Guitarist Tom Maxwell stated about the musical direction of HELLYEAH's new disc: "Every record that we've done, especially since 'Blood', we've kind of kept the tree growing, growing different branches here and there off the main root, and it's no different with this one. It's gonna be a little bit outside the box, there's gonna be some stuff that people haven't heard from us but will understand that we did it, because we're all over the board, as you know; we don't pigeonhole ourselves as just being full-blown heavy all the time. So it's gonna be a good record, when it comes out, eventually."
In late June 2018, singer Chad Gray released a statement on the death of Vinnie Paul, saying that dealing with his passing "has been one of the toughest things I've ever had to face in my life. I'm so confused, sad and as helpless as I've ever been," he said. "I'm at a loss and completely devastated. But I'm trying. It's the equivalent of an emotional riot in my head and in my heart as I write this. But I'm trying to focus on anything good. I know Vinnie would want that. And the good things are my memories of him. His smile, his infectious laugh and his personality that beamed light."
Gray added: "I just want to say, thank you, Vinnie Paul! For saving my life, for your music, for your endless generosity, for accepting me into your life, for creating our music that touched people, for being proud to be in HELLYEAH and for always treating me like a brother and more importantly for treating me like a friend... I will always love you and go to the end of the earth to carry the torch for you and Dime's legacy."
Abbott's brother, guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, was shot to death in December 2004 while performing onstage. The Abbotts founded the bands PANTERA and DAMAGEPLAN together. After Dimebag's death, Abbott joined Gray and other members of MUDVAYNE and NOTHINGFACE in HELLYEAH, which has released five albums.

YNGWIE MALMSTEEN Premiers Official Lyric Video For "Sun’s Up Top’s Down"Guitar legend Yngwie Malmsteen will release his new album, Blue Lightning, on March 29th via Mascot Records/Mascot Label Group. An official lyric video for the track "Sun’s Up Top’s Down" can be found below.
The album will be available on CD, Lightning Blue Marble 2LP (webshop exclusive) and Ltd Edition CD Box Set. Pre-order here.
To call Yngwie Malmsteen a 'maestro' or 'virtuoso' is to state the obvious. But such terms don't do sufficient justice to either his talent or impact. There are innumerable guitarists who have copied a small part of the vast musical spectrum that defines him, but nobody comes close to achieving what he has over a period of nearly four decades.
This man is an undoubted pioneer, someone whose style and creativity has inspired so many others. While he first came to everybody's notice in Los Angeles with Steeler's self-titled album (1983), followed by Alcatrazz's No Parole From Rock 'N' Roll the same year and Live Sentence ('84), it's been what he's done since in a distinguished and far ranging career as a solo performer and band leader that has momentously shown Malmsteen's craft and worth as one of the elite guitarists on the planet. Combining skills that span a vast spectrum of inspirations, he stands as a giant, melding melody, technique and an epic scope in a unique and inclusive fashion.
Now, with Blue Lightning, the man highlights not only his enduring dexterity and diversity, but also pays homage to those from the Blues world who have fueled his artistic spirit for so long.
“I have always played around with old songs, both live and also in the studio. I did a similar album called Inspirationa while ago (1996), and it was Mascot who came to me and suggested I do a blues record.”
“Now, I grew up in a classically trained family, and people know me for playing in what is called a neo classical style. But when I got a guitar for my fifth birthday, what I would try to emulate were John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers - I would jam along to what they did on record with Eric Clapton (Bluesbreakers With Eric Clapton album). That's something people don't realize about me - I do have a strong interest in the blues. So, when Mascot came to me with the suggestion of doing an album of songs in this style, it didn't faze me at all. In fact, it seemed so natural.”
What Malmsteen has done here is combine choices which might seem almost obvious with some that will turn heads. He shares, “There were songs that were immediately clear I wanted to do. These were the likes of 'Purple Haze' and 'Smoke On The Water' which I have been playing since I was a kid. But then I also went for something like 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' which I wasn't sure I could do. In this case, it's about trial and error. I am delighted that I was able to do justice to the original.”
Anyone who is expecting Malmsteen to copy exactly the way the original versions sound is in for a shock. Because that is not what he has done. He reflects, “I have never been one of those people who wants to sit down and mimic the way in which a song sounds on record. I don't see the point in doing that. If all you want to hear is a song the way you remember it, then the originals are there for you. What I have done is add in my own vibe and personality, while paying tribute to what you already know. That way I feel I am being myself, yet also being respectful to those artists.”
One thing this album has allowed Malmsteen to do is to challenge himself, which is certainly the case of Eric Clapton's “Forever Man.” He offers, “I heard this on the radio, and honestly I didn't know whether I could do it for this album. But I sat down and tried things, and they worked out. I had to rise to the occasion and am delighted to have done exactly that.”
This track showcases not only Malmsteen's celebrated guitar qualities, but also his maturing individual vocal confidence. He reflects, “On the singing side with 'Forever Man,' I did it all in one take. I got the lyrics through, went into the studio, and just got them done. I am not someone who likes to do take after take. I feel you should be able to get it right the first time around. That applies to the vocal parts and also my guitar playing. And for the most part, this is the way I did Blue Lightning.”
The man has also paid homage to a particular favorite. He shares, “When I was ten years old, I got Deep Purple's Fireball album, which I have always thought was very undervalued. And the song that really killed me was 'Demon's Eye.’ And I was very keen to do it for the album. Thankfully, the key was just right for my voice, and I had so much fun doing it. In fact, I would say that I had a great time doing all the songs here.”
Aside from the covers, there are also four original tracks included. And these clearly bring to the fore Malmsteen's abiding love for the blues, as well as his capacity for doing interpretations possessed of emotion and depth. He offers, “I have always featured songs with a blues groove on albums. So, having my own material in this vein was very natural for me.”
The album is self-produced, and Malmsteen has followed a traditional manner in the way this was recorded. He shares, “In the old days, a band would go into the studio, do a couple of songs, then go out on tour, before returning to the studio to do a couple more new tracks. That's the way I did things this time. I have been so busy on the road in recent times that it was the most pragmatic way to do the album. In all, it took me about ten months to get it done, but by going in the studio in between touring commitments, I feel it kept everything fresh.”

WHILE SHE SLEEPS Drop New Track "The Guilty Party"While She Sleeps have shared their new single "The Guilty Party". The song is a genre-morphing acclamation — fueled by riffs, electronics, visceral vocals, the purest of melodies, and the ultimate gang vocals in collaboration with an actual choir.
Choral elements and rich harmonies feature all over the Sheffield band's forthcoming album So What?, out March 1st via their own Sleeps Brothers label via Spinefarm. The band even enlisted a live choir for a very special performance on its upcoming European tour.
"We've always loved the feeling you get when a large group of people sing together, whether that's at a show, for us just in the studio, or whatever, however it may be. Kinda the same feeling you get at a football game when everyone sings together," says guitarist and vocalist Mat Welsh.
Guitarist Sean Long furthers, "The energy completely shifts when everyone is together in unison doing that kinda thing. So we thought, 'Wouldn't it be great if we could introduce the choir which we use on the record… live?' And we are going to do that. At The Roundhouse." Long is referring to the band's headline show The Roundhouse in London.
Pre-order the album in various formats at this location, and watch a video for the first single, "Anti-Social", below. More album details coming soon.

Finland's TYRANTTI To Release Debut Album Next Week; "Rikotaan Äänivalli" Music Video StreamingFinland-based three-piece, Tyrantti, will see their self-titled debut album released next week, on February 8th via Playground Music. Pre-order Tyrantti on CD or red 180gr vinyl (worldwide shipping), here.
To celebrate the release, they present a new music video for the song, "Rikotaan Äänivalli". Watch below.
Influenced by 80s Judas Priest and early Iron Maiden, "Rikotaan Äänivalli: (‘Let’s break the sound barrier’) is one of the definite live bangers of the new album. The video was produced by Helsinki based Balansia Films’ film makers Matti Ruottinen and Mitro Härkönen.
Says lead vocalist and bassist Nahka-Sami: "'Rikotaan Äänivalli' is a song about every little kid’s daydream: flying a fighter jet like the ones in the film Top Gun. The song itself provides three minutes of rapid guitar shreds, Rob Halford-like vocals and a catchy sing-along chorus. Classic Tyrantti stuff. The music video isn’t fucking around either. It’s pretty much like looking at a train wreck: you don’t want to stare, but you just can’t look away."
