REFLECTIONS Release First Ever Video ‘Vain Words For Empty Minds’
 REFLECTIONS have debuted a brand new music video for their single ‘Vain Words For Empty Minds’.
Directed by DOPE frontman Edsel Dope, this is the band's first music video they've released in their budding career. The single comes from their latest LP, Exi(s)t, released last year. Frontman Jake Foster weighs in on their latest effort, "We couldn't be happier or more excited to release our first music video. A huge thank you to Edsel Dope and the rest of his crew for helping us put this together."
Reflections will hit the road this winter with label-mates CHIMAIRA and FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY on the Celebrate The Chaos tour, which kicks off January 30th at the legendary Palladium in Worcester, Massachusetts. The band has also announced their participation in this year's South By So What Festival, taking place in Grand Prarie, TX the weekend of March 14th. Reflections will then head out with VEIL OF MAYA and ERRA in March.

YOB – Catharsis To Be Released As Deluxe Vinyl Edition
 Relapse Records has announced the re-release of YOB's psyche-doom metal classic Catharsis on vinyl. After being out of print on vinyl for over six years, Catharsis has been given the deluxe reissue treatment and will be released the way it was meant to be presented. Remastered from the original tapes by Tad Doyle, the reissue features stunning new artwork by Aaron Edge and brand new liner notes from guitarist / vocalist Mike Scheidt.
Catharsis will see its official vinyl rerelease on March 4th in North America, March 3rd in the UK/World and February 28th in Germany/Benelux/Finland. The vinyl includes a digital download of the full album and is being pressed on four limited color variations including gold, gold with black splatter (available exclusively at Roadburn), clear with black, bone white and gold splatter, and a special swamp green with purple and yellow splatter version that includes a black light poster available exclusively at Relapse.com.

SABBATH ASSEMBLY - Quaternity Artwork, Tracklisting, Release Date Revealed
 SABBATH ASSEMBLY returns with their third album, Quaternity, set for international release on March 28th via Svart Records. It will be available on LP, CD, and digital download. The cover and tracklisting for Quaternity are as follows:

What is missing from the Christian concept of “trinity”? Carl Jung suggests that the fourth element is what many reject - the evil in our nature; or by another view, the feminine, which throughout Church history has been equated with evil and duly suppressed. To restore this element to the trinity creates Quaternity, which in William Blake’s Proverbs of Hell represents “the fourfold nature of man and his relationship to the divine.”
Side A of Quaternity the album begins with a look at the four deities worshipped in the theology of the Process Church of the Final Judgment - Christ, Jehovah, Lucifer, and Satan - each tune providing the deity with its own voice, unmediated by Christian prejudice. Lucifer is again the light bearer, Satan the source of primal strength, Jehovah the vengeful destroyer, and Christ the master of death.
Side B explores another four: the horsemen of the apocalypse of Revelations. This intricate, sidelong piece was conceived in anticipation of 12/21/12. For those who got the 7” last year, this is the full 20-minute version.
Quaternity is primarily acoustic in format, with an array of classical percussion and strings creating an entirely new sound for the band. Unlike its predecessors, Restored to One and Ye Are Gods, Sabbath Assembly's Quaternity offers a majority of original material with inspiration from the Process found primarily in the lyrics. One exception is the completely unpublished 'Lucifer', shared with the band over the telephone via former Processian Anthony D’Andrea, who had contacted the band complaining that they were not “getting the hymns right.” Thanks to Mr. D’Andrea, whose rendition can be heard in part at the top of the track.
Quaternity once again features Jamie Myers on vocals and Dave “Xtian” Nuss on percussion. Special guests on the album include Daron Beck of PINKISH BLACK accompanying Jamie on vocals, Kevin Hufnagel of GORGUTS on guitar, Mat McNerney and Marja Kontinnen of HEXVESSEL reciting sacred texts, liturgical chanting by Jessika Kinney of SUNN 0))), bass from Colin Marston of BEHOLD… THE ARCTOPUS, and organ from “Nameless Void” of NEGATIVE PLANE.

JUNIUS Reveal Second Single From Upcoming EP
 Boston post-rockers JUNIUS have revealed the second single, 'Battle In The Sky', from their forthcoming EP, Days Of The Fallen Sun, which can be streamed below.
Scheduled for release on February 18th via Prosthetic Records, Days Of The Fallen Sun was co-produced by the band along with Will Benoit, whose previous work includes Junius' 2011 full-length, Reports From The Threshold Of Death. The EP is described by the band as a prequel to their 2009 release, The Martyrdom Of A Catastrophist, and features four full-length tracks interwoven with hauntingly captivating interludes. DESTRAGE Release 'My Green Neighbour' Video
 Milan, Italy natives DESTRAGE have released a brand new video for a track from their upcoming album, Are You Kidding Me? No. The video, which can loosely be described as a lyric video, features a pair of zombies making their way through the Warrior Dash in Italy as lyrics splatter onto the screen. Lyrically, the song examines why we as humans enjoy killing zombies so much, and visually, the video is an entertaining dose of absurdity, as fans of Destrage have come to expect! 'My Green Neighbour' was directed and edited by guitarist Matteo Di Gioia at The Jack Stupid.

The album is recorded in 444hz instead of the standardized 440hz tuning. The decision was based by studying the lost "Solfeggio frequencies", original sound frequencies which were apparently used in Ancient Gregorian Chants and were believed to impart "spiritual blessings when sung in harmony" and also by studying the nefarious origins of 440hz. Tuning to 444hz corresponds to a "C" of 528hz on the Solfeggio Frequency Scale, the exact frequency used by genetic biochemists to repair broken DNA. This frequency is also believed to encourage "Transformation and Miracles."
A press release describes the album: “Dark Forest's innate sense of melody remains intact on The Awakening, as well as the band's trademarked epic twin-guitar dueling, but this time the album is permeated by a general sense of oppression and sorrow and sounds much more reflective than their previous works. Not by coincidence, The Awakening opens with the ending lines of Percy Bysshe Shelley's poem The Mask Of Anarchy and ends with the anthem ‘Sons Of England’. The awakening must be both spiritual and intellectual and through the rediscovery of our roots and a connection to nature, must lead all humanity to remember the truth - which we are infinite consciousness and we are one. This is the realization that will defeat the global control system of the elite and set humanity free.”

Former NEVERMORE Guitarist JEFF LOOMIS: Video Footage Of SCHECTER Demo
 Video footage of former NEVERMORE guitarist Jeff Loomis' demo at the Schecter at this year's NAMM (National Association Of Music Merchants) show, which is taking place January 23-26 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California, can be seen below.
The special tour edition of Loomis' latest album, "Plains Of Oblivion", was released on April 16, 2013 via Century Media Records.
"Plains Of Oblivion - Tour Edition" features three bonus tracks, in addition to the original "Plains Of Oblivion" disc that was released in 2012.
Loomis's second solo album, "Plains Of Oblivion", sold 2,900 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 179 on The Billboard 200 chart. The effort landed at No. 2 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
"Plains Of Oblivion" was released on April 10, 2012 in North America (one day earlier in Europe) via Century Media Records. The CD was recorded at Hobby Shop Studios in Los Angeles with producer Chris "Zeuss" Harris (SHADOWS FALL, HATEBREED, MUNICIPAL WASTE). The cover artwork for the effort was once again created by Vance Kelly (THE SWORD, GRAVEYARD, HIGH ON FIRE, PENTAGRAM, ALICE IN CHAINS, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, DEATH ANGEL), who previously worked on the group's debut album, 2012's "Spell Eater".

ANCILLOTTI - The Chain Goes On Artwork, Tracklisting Revealed
 Italian metallers ANCILLOTTI will release their debut album, The Chain Goes On, on February 28th. The pre-order phase will start on February 14th.
Does anyone remember STRANA OFFICINA, probably the most legendary 80s metal band from Italy? Or the 90s project BUD TRIBE? Those of you who liked those bands will definitely be fascinated by Ancillotti. Founded by the eponymous Daniele “Bud” Ancillotti, who took on his brother Sandro as bass player and his son Brian as drummer. The first sign of life was in 2012 the four track EP Down This Road Together; this is now followed by the debut album The Chain Goes On.
The ten songs of the album are affected by very straight heavy metal, which reminds one of the earlier bands of the singer, but some part are arranged with more mid-tempo. This has sometimes a very special charm created by the rough but melodic vocals, but other passages are pounding in best ACCEPT manner. The catchy choruses are exactly on the point and are made for singing/shouting along (to give a few examples: the opener 'Band Your Head', 'Legacy of Rock' or 'The Devil Inside'), which is brought to perfection by the penetrating double bass-drumming. This rock n' roll firework show is completed by a powerful production.

RAUHNACHT, SERPENT EATER Sign To Hammerheart Records
 Hammerheart Records has announced two new signings - Alpine black metal band RAUHNACHT, and German death sludge group SERPENT EATER.
Both outfits will release new albums on March 17th.

Former And Current STUCK MOJO Vocalists Perform Together In South Carolina
 BONZ, the new band led by original STUCK MOJO singer Bonz, was joined on stage by Lord Nelson, current STUCK MOJO vocalist, on January 16 at New Brookland Tavern in Columbia, South Carolina. Lord and BONZ ripped through MOJO classics "Rising", "(Here Comes) The Monster" and "Not Promised Tomorrow".

In 2009, Bonz joined forces with Bobby Burns and Curt Taylor of PRIMER 55 and created KILLER IN THE WORKPLACE. The band would go on to record a full-length album and tour to support it. However, by 2011, it was obvious that it was not in the cards for the group to continue on. Bonz and Curt had developed a bond and musical chemistry that was undeniable, and after KILLER IN THE WORKPLACE, they decided to forge ahead and form the band BONZ.

SHINEDOWN's BRENT SMITH And ZACH MYERS: Videos For OTIS REDDING, PEARL JAM Covers
 Atlantic Records has announced the release of "(Acoustic Sessions)", the forthcoming EP from SMITH & MYERS, better known to rock fans everywhere as Brent Smith and Zach Myers of SHINEDOWN. The EP arrives on the iTunes Store and at all leading digital retailers on January 28.
"(Acoustic Sessions)" sees Smith and Myers tackling a half dozen classic songs by such legendary artists as THE CLASH, METALLICA, Otis Redding, Kenny Wayne Shepard — who makes a surprise cameo on the recording of his own "Blue On Black" — BLACK CROWES and SOUL ASYLUM, all selected by SHINEDOWN fans as the tracks they'd most like the band to cover. The stripped-down recording sessions were filmed in their entirety by SHINEDOWN's longtime collaborator, filmmaker Darren Doane, resulting in intimate companion videos for each of the EP's six tracks. The second and third songs/videos from the collection to be unveiled, OTIS REDDING's "Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay" and PEARL JAM's "Black" (not included on the EP), can be seen below. Videos for each of the EP's remaining tracks will premiere there daily leading up to the collection's January 28 release day.
"This is for the fans," says Smith. "They picked the songs and we recorded them — it's as simple as that. And I must say that our audience has great taste."
According to The Pulse Of Radio, SHINEDOWN initially planned to release an album of acoustic cover songs this year, but the original 10-song set turned into a six-track EP somewhere along the way. Smith told The Pulse Of Radio that the band's idea of posting videos on YouTube of them recording all 10 songs was what caused the problem. "Some of the artists were cool with letting us put them up, like basically on YouTube, and like show the video of the song being recorded," he said. "Some of the artists were cool with the video and some of the artists weren't cool with the video, and that's totally their decision. So the first six were approved and good to go and you could show the video with it and everything else, so those are the first six that we're gonna release."
The four songs left off the EP — which include BON JOVI's "Wanted Dead Or Alive" and ADELE's "Someone Like You" — will eventually surface without videos on iTunes.
In other news, January 22 will see the eagerly anticipated broadcast television premiere of SHINEDOWN's installment of "The Live Room" on Palladia. Filmed at the famed Henson Studios in Los Angeles, the exclusive set features electrifying versions of SHINEDOWN favorites like "Bully" and "I'll Follow You" — both featured on the band's chart-topping 2012 smash, "Amaryllis" — alongside a surprising and powerful cover of Carole King's "I Feel The Earth Move".
"The Live Room: Shinedown" debuts January 22 at 9 p.m. EST, with additional airings slated for the coming weeks (check local listings).

EPICA - New Album To Feature Acoustic Bonus Tracks
 Dutch symphonic rockers EPICA, who recently finished recording their sixth studio album, TQE, have checked in with the following update:

Classic BLACK SABBATH Albums Re-Enter BILLBOARD Chart
 According to Billboard.com, several of BLACK SABBATH's catalog of albums made their digital debut a week ago, thus sparking a return to the chart for two of their classic titles. Both "Black Sabbath" and "Paranoid", released in 1970, return to the chart this week. "Paranoid" re-enters at No. 121 with 2,935 (up 183%) and "Black Sabbath" returns at No. 184 (2,130; up 229%).

The trek will hit ten cities in Canada, including stops in Quebec, Montreal, Ottawa, Calgary and Edmonton, before wrapping April 26 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, California. These dates will be part of the band's final shows of their 2013-2014 world tour in support of their first studio album in 35 years, "13", which entered the charts at #1 in 13 countries (including their first #1 in the U.S.). Another run of European festivals and headlining shows will follow this summer.

BILL WARD Presented With 'Lifetime Achievement' Award At 'Bonzo Bash' (Video)
 Legendary BLACK SABBATH drummer Bill Ward was presented with the "Lifetime Achievement" award at the Bonzo Bash NAMM Jamm 2014 "The Ultimate Celebration To The Ultimate Drummer - John Henry Bonham Of Led Zeppelin", which took place on Thursday, January 23 at The Observatory, in Santa Ana, California. Ward recently underwent surgery for perforated diverticulitis, a very serious gastrointestinal condition in which the walls of the intestine have become perforated. His operation was said to be successful, and he was expected to make a full recovery.
Ward revealed in an interview with Rock Cellar that he tried to listen to last year's SABBATH reunion album, "13", but had to stop after just a few minutes. Ward said, "The only thing I've heard from '13' is maybe 40 seconds of the first song, and then I turned it off. I haven't heard anything off that album at all. And to be quite honest, I don't care to either. It's too painful. If I want to rip my guts out, I'll put it on." Ward, the group's founding drummer, has played on and off with SABBATH over the years and had initially signed on for the original lineup's first album in 35 years and accompanying tour, announced in late 2011.
But he quit shortly before the writing and recording of the disc began, saying he was dissatisfied with the terms of the contract he had been offered.
Although he never specified what his issues were, the other members of SABBATH later hinted that Ward was not physically up to the task of performing live.
It was rumored that SABBATH wanted to bring a second drummer on the road to share duties with Ward, which he allegedly balked at.
SABBATH used RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE drummer Brad Wilk for the recording of "13", while Tommy Clufetos has been the live drummer.
Ward added that he remains "deeply touched" by the outpouring of support that many fans have shown him, saying, "It tears me up, you know. Even as I'm talking to you now, I'm not far away from a tear. I had to follow my heart under the most difficult circumstances."
SABBATH has been touring for much of the past year behind "13" and has dates lined up in North America in March and April.

BLACKWELDER began as the long-awaited follow up to SEVEN SERAPHIM's "Believe in Angels". Bit by bit, as the songs materialized, it became evident to mainman Andrew Szucs that this music should carry the banner of a new musical entity, emerging from a richer, darker source thus, BLACKWELDER was born.
Andrew began this musical journey alone, however, once he completed the framework for all of the songs, the band members began to fall into place like pieces of a puzzle.
Bjorn Englen was the first to climb aboard, expertly adding his bass lines to the songs. Bjorn would later go on tour with Tony MacAlpine alongside drummer Aquiles Priester, after which, it seemed only natural to keep this rhythm section in tact for BLACKWELDER.
Once Andrew's guitars were recorded, it became evident that a true powerhouse vocalist was needed to carry these songs to completion. Not just any voice would do. BLACKWELDER would need the stratospheric vocal stylings characterized by the rich tradition of European heavy metal, and who better to do that than the voice of PRIMAL FEAR: Ralf Scheepers. Like a dragon with its fire, Ralf's voice and lyrical themes are a natural fit to the songs of BLACKWELDER; blending and contrasting with the Marshall-based guitar tones in perfect harmony.
Topping off this powerful lineup is the unparalleled drumming of Aquiles Priester. Andrew and Aquiles agreed to finish the songs with Aquiles' unique pyrotechnic display of progressive metal drumming techniques and what a display it is.

RED DRAGON CARTEL's self-titled debut album, will be released on January 28 via Frontiers Records. The CD was recorded at Las Vegas' The Hideout Recording Studio — owned and operated by Kevin Churko (OZZY OSBOURNE, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, IN THIS MOMENT) — and was produced by R. Bernard Mann (a.k.a. Ronnie Mancuso) and Jake E. Lee, and executive-produced, mixed and mastered by Churko.
