HELSTAR: New Album Title, Cover Artwork, Release Date
 Texas-based metal veterans HELSTAR will release their new studio album, "This Wicked Nest", on April 25 via AFM Records. It will be available on CD and vinyl.
The cover artwork for the effort can be seen below.
Bassist Jerry Abarca is taking an extended break from the HELSTAR for health reasons and was temporarily replaced for the band's shows by Mike LePond of SYMPHONY X.
HELSTAR released "30 Years Of Hel", a DVD containing footage of the band's March 24, 2012 30-year-anniversary hometown show at Warehouse Live in Houston, on October 2, 2012 in North America (August 31, 2012 in Europe) via AFM Records. The DVD+2CD set includes footage of the band performing songs spanning its entire career, including material from the often-overlooked "Multiples Of Black" release. The package also features interviews with each bandmember, as well as with the entire group, conducted by "Robb's MetalWorks" and focusing specifically on this milestone.
HELSTAR released its latest album, "Glory Of Chaos", in November 2010 via Germany's AFM Records.
Formed in Houston in the early '80s, HELSTAR cut its teeth playing backyard parties and small club gigs. It soon became apparent that HELSTAR had much more to offer then its contemporaries. Combat Records snapped up the band and released HELSTAR's debut, "Burning Star", in 1984. Next came "Remnants of War", followed by HELSTAR's breakthrough album, "A Distant Thunder", in 1988. The success of "A Distant Thunder" ultimately set up HELSTAR's most critically acclaimed album, 1989's "Nosferatu".  | +1 |  |

OZZY OSBOURNE/FIREWIND Guitarist GUS G.: 'I Am The Fire' Cover Artwork, Track Listing
 Guitar virtuoso Gus G., well known in rock and metal circles for his work as Ozzy Osbourne's guitarist and as leader of his own band FIREWIND, has set a March 18 release date for his debut solo album, "I Am The Fire", in North America. The CD will be released internationally on Century Media Records, and will come out March 17 in Europe.

A first song from the album can now be heard via the video for the album's opening track, "My Will Be Done" (featuring Mats Levén), which was produced by Patric Ullaeus of Revolver Film Company, who has previously worked with DIMMU BORGIR, LACUNA COIL, IN FLAMES, SONIC SYNDICATE and KAMELOT, among others.

The album's first commercial single — title track, "I Am The Fire" — will be released digitally February 25 in North America. Gus G. has had an amazing rise within the worldwide rock and metal scenes and has amassed an impressive body of work, both in studio and touring. He emerged as an up-and-coming talent with the groups DREAM EVIL (Sweden), MYSTIC PROPHECY (Germany) and NIGHTRAGE (Greece), but it is his work with his own band FIREWIND (who have released seven studio albums and two live releases) and as a member of Ozzy Osbourne's band that have helped him emerge as one of the world's top metal and rock guitarists. His work on Ozzy's "Scream" album led to a Grammy nomination in 2010, and his list of accolades includes Guitar Player magazine's "Best Metal Guitarist," the "Dimebag Darrell Shredder" award at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards, and Metal Hammer Greece "Best Guitarist" on four separate occasions.

BEHEMOTH: Third 'The Satanist' Trailer
 The third of four videos on the making of "The Satanist", the long-awaited new album from Polish extreme metallers BEHEMOTH, can be seen below.
"The Satanist" will be released on February 3 in the U.K., February 4 in North America and Poland, February 5 in Japan, and February 7 in the rest of the world. "The Satanist" deluxe box, which is available in North America as an European import, includes: CD/DVD digibook in silver mirror slipcase with a high-quality 44-page booklet (with gold foil, UV gloss lamination), supersize poster flag (approx. 3.5' x 5'), wooden black inverted rosary cross, metal pin, black envelope with black communion wafers. The DVD, "Live Barbarossa", includes a professionally filmed show in Ekaterinburg, Russia, as well as 30-minute documentary about the creative process behind "The Satanist".
"The Satanist" was produced by BEHEMOTH, Wojtek and Slawek Wieslawscy and Daniel Bergstrand at Hertz Studio. The CD was mixed by Matt Hyde (SLAYER) and mastered by Ted Jensen (METALLICA, AC/DC) at Sterling Sound in New York City. The cover art for "The Satanist" was painted by renowned Russian painter and occultist Denis Forkas. The paint used included some of Nergal's own blood. Additional art and design was completed by Metastazis (PARADISE LOST) and Zbigniew Bielak (WATAIN, GHOST).
"I wanted to incorporate some of my DNA into the art," Nergal told Australia's Heavy magazine about having his blood included in "The Satanist" artwork.
"This album seems to be so defining of who we are now as people and as individuals, and considering all the instances in recent years, [we wanted] to make it more 'ours' than it is usually."
In a recent interview with Revolver magazine, Darski described BEHEMOTH's new songs as "very atmospheric" and "very emotional." "Think BURZUM meets NEW ORDER meets KILLING JOKE," he added. But at the same time, fans shouldn't expect the album to sound too far removed from BEHEMOTH's past efforts. "Take SLAYER, for example," Darski said. "Whatever genre they deal with, they still end up sounding like SLAYER. Even when they were flirting with nu-metal, it was a SLAYER record. Same with BEHEMOTH."
According to Darski, at least some of the inspiration for the new BEHEMOTH album came from his five-month bout of leukemia he overcame in January 2011, after receiving a bone-marrow transplant. "When I was in the hospital, I was collecting experiences and emotions," he said. "I'm pretty sure that it's coming out now. There are moments I catch myself thinking about how my state was back then. It was me versus life, me versus death. It definitely changed my thoughts a lot. It's 100 percent being reflected in the record and songs I'm writing nowadays. I'm way more radical than I used to be."

THE BLOODLINE: Remixed Version Of 'The Blackout' Song Available For Streaming
 THE BLOODLINE, the Chicago-based metal band featuring members of BROKEN HOPE and DIVINE HERESY, has made a remixed version of a new song, "The Blackout", available for streaming in the YouTube clip below. The track was produced by Joel Wanasek and THE BLOODLINE and was enginered by Scott Creekmore at Mercenary Studios. It was mixed and mastered by Joel Wanasek at JTW Studios.

QUIET RIOT: Fan-Filmed Video Footage Of St. Charles Concert

QUIET RIOT's new lineup — featuring vocalist Jizzy Pearl (LOVE/HATE, L.A. GUNS, ADLER'S APPETITE, RATT) — made its live debut on New Year's Eve (December 31) at Twin Arrows Navajo Casino Resort in Flagstaff, Arizona.
QUIET RIOT drummer Frankie Banali spoke to Chris Epting of Loudwire about the band's future following the recent addition of Pearl.
"I knew that resurrecting QUIET RIOT was going to be a major challenge and undertaking," Frankie said. "You simply don't replace a singer and personality like [late QUIET RIOT singer] Kevin DuBrow because he was the complete package, the real deal and my best friend.
"I never set out to replace Kevin, I set out to continue the band in his memory.
"We tried to work with Mark Huff on vocals and he just wasn't right for the band. We tried it with Scott Vokoun on vocals and in the end he also just wasn't a fit, and we parted company amicably.
"It's not just about singing, performing, work ethic, priorities, perception and personality, it is about all of those things and so much more.
"If I am guilty of anything, I am guilty of trying to get it right for QUIET RIOT."
Banali also spoke about QUIET RIOT's upcoming album, which will contain six new studio tracks with Jizzy Pearl on vocals and four live tracks from 2007 with Kevin DuBrow, which are from the last professionally recorded live shows DuBrow and QUIET RIOT played.
"One of the things Kevin and I always took great pride in was to continue to record new music and release records even when we knew that in the deflated almost nonexistent music industry, records don't sell or are illegally downloaded," Banali said. "We continued to do it for the music, for the fans, for promotion and for self fulfillment. That was my mindset, to continue the recorded history of QUIET RIOT beyond the loss of Kevin. I wanted to do it because guitarist Alex Grossi had yet to appear on a QUIET RIOT record. This is also the first time in 18 years that Chuck Wright has recorded with the band. I also invited Rudy Sarzo to play on two songs; he last appeared on record with QUIET RIOT 12 years ago in 2001 and Tony Franklin on two tracks, who played bass on the 2006 'Rehab' record."
Asked what he thinks Kevin would have to say about all of this, Banali replied: "Knowing Kevin as I did, he knows why I do things and how I do things and he would approve.
"We always prided ourselves in doing the best we could for QUIET RIOT and this is no exception.
"With the new songs, I know he would get it, and there is one song in particular which is my personal farewell to Kevin and very tongue in cheek. And don't expect it to be a ballad!
"The choices I made for the four live songs would be the same ones Kevin would have agreed with.
"Kevin and I had an understanding. I always expected to die before Kevin and we had both agreed that no matter who went first, the other would continue QUIET RIOT. That was set in stone years before Kevin died. I just never saw it coming and even knowing that Kevin was fine if I continued QUIET RIOT past his lifetime, it still took me three years of mourning to even think about continuing and here I am six years later still trying to get it right."

Kevin DuBrow died in November 2007 of an accidental cocaine overdose. He was 52 years old.
QUIET RIOT was perhaps best known for its 1983 cover of "Cum On Feel The Noize". The song, featuring DuBrow's powerful, gravelly voice, appeared on the band's album "Metal Health" — which was the first by a metal band to reach No. 1 on the Billboard chart.

SAMMAL: 'Tähdelle Kuolemaan' Video Released
 "Tähdelle Kuolemaan", the new video form Finland's SAMMAL, can be seen below. The song is taken from the band's new mini-album, "No 2", which will be be released on February 14 through Svart Records on LP, CD, and as a digital download. "No 2" is the follow-up to SAMMAL's critically acclaimed eponymous debut on Svart Records. The present-day flagship of Finnish progressive rock sails back in time again to the authentic tones and warm soundscapes of the 1970s on this forthcoming EP. The band doesn't show off with unnecessarily technical playing or super-hard song structures, but focuses on forging upbeat atmospheres with strong melodies and fresh vintage sounds. SAMMAL relies on live playing in the studio, which brings the listener closer to the band: the production breathes so care-free that you can almost touch the notes floating in the air. "No 2" is not a companion piece to the debut, nor is it a preview of the second full-length, which will be released via Svart Records next winter. It is a mini-album, which stands on its own. SAMMAL wanted to clear their closet from older gems, and prepare for a new era with this release. SIX FEET UNDER Frontman CHRIS BARNES' IHATE Project: 'Seeing Red' Preview Track
 SIX FEET UNDER frontman Chris Barnes is pleased to bring fans his latest work of sonic deviance in the form of the fittingly christened IHATE. A venture inadvertently launched between Barnes and multi-instrumentalist/fellow horror enthusiast Bob Taggett, the band's as-yet-untitled debut promises to deliver eight violent tracks of raw, unrepentant, death metal brutality and lyrical depravity. Relays Barnes of the project's formation: "Early last year I got a message via Facebook from someone named Bob and Bob said to me, as a lot of people do, 'I have some songs and I'd like you to sing on them. Can I send you a song so you could check it out?'
"I get a lot of these requests and didn't think too much of it, but since I was just fresh back from a tour and a little bored, I decided to entertain the idea of listening to a song from Bob. After receiving an email with the first track that was attached to a video which more or less mapped out a murder storyline, I thought it was really different, and definitely creepy visually. And there was something very primitive and energetic to the attack of the music. It was very driven. I could feel it instantly. I knew this wasn't a joke and wasn't done half-assed. The music I was listening to was aggressive as a knife carving chunks of flesh off a body. Putting the music to a video caught my attention, immediately, as to Bob's focus. I found it all really interesting.
"I have almost always worked from a storyline in my head for my lyrical inspiration and my own imagination, but never have started from the standpoint of lyrically scoring a storyline already laid out on video first, like scoring a film. That seemed really exciting to me as a writer as well as a vocalist. I emailed Bob back and told him I would love to be involved with making this album with him. So one thing led to another and we began writing and recording.
"We are very close to finishing the album and have enlisted the good people at Pledge Music to help us reach out to all of the fans who we hope will help us make this album a reality." As for what true death metal miscreants can expect from the IHATE end product? "To me, it really is a masterpiece of brutal, violent death metal," says Barnes.
"I'm really stoked that I got to work on this album.
"The fans know that I'm no stranger to writing some sick lyrics, but the stuff I have come up with this time is entirely over-the-top even by my standards.
"I really want the fans to hear this album and dig into the storylines of the songs.
"This is the first time I've used crowdfunding to make and release an album. And it's been a very challenging, interesting learning experience along the way. And an eye-opener as well.
"We are really hoping the fans of death metal will make a pledge and preorder our new album. It's really important to us that this album gets released. This is brutal as fuck." A preview of the track "Seeing Red" is available below.

EVANESCENCE Singer AMY LEE Is Pregnant
 EVANESCENCE singer Amy Lee has announced that she is expecting her first child, according to The Pulse Of Radio. The 32-year-old Lee revealed the news via a post at her Twitter account on Saturday night (January 18), writing, "Ok I can't keep it a secret anymore — I've been working on a very special new project for 2014 — A BABY! Josh and I are expecting! I'm so happy!"
Lee did not divulge if she knows whether she's having a boy or a girl, or when the baby is due.
The singer has been married to Josh Hartzler, a therapist, since May 2007. The couple live in New York City.
Lee told The Pulse Of Radio a while back that she missed her family when she was on the road and was starting to think about starting her own. "Definitely," she said. "That's something I long for more and more the older I get, for sure. Not just about kids of my own, but just spending time with my living family. [laughs] Something I really end up missing a lot on the road is that, you know, just down home family time. You miss a lot of that stuff when you're on the road and it's starting to hit me, like, 'Ooh, I can't get that back.'"
With EVANESCENCE currently inactive, Lee recently completed her first film score, with collaborator Dave Eggar, for the movie "War Story". The film is premiering this week at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.
Lee is suing her label, Wind-Up Records, for at least $1.5 million over unpaid royalties and other alleged misdeeds, including efforts to sabotage EVANESCENCE's career.
The most recent EVANESCENCE album, a self-titled effort, came out in 2011.

NIGHTWISH's TUOMAS HOLOPAINEN: 'Life And Times Of Scrooge' Solo Album Track Listing Revealed
 Tuomas Holopainen — the keyboardist and main songwriter of NIGHTWISH — has spent most of 2013 writing and producing his solo album based on a graphic novel called "The Life And Times Of Scrooge McDuck", written and illustrated by Don Rosa.
"Music Inspired By The Life And Times Of Scrooge - Written And Produced By Tuomas Holopainen" is scheduled for a release this spring via Nuclear Blast.
Holopainen comments: "This is my longtime dream come true, 14 years in the making. And a homage to one of the best storytellers of our time.

This 12-chapter book tells the life story of Scrooge, from his early years in the 19th century Scotland to his adventures all around the world until the 1950s. The story contains such immense depth, detail, wit and emotional power that the moment Tuomas read it nearly 20 years ago, it instantly became a story of profound personal interest and love for him. The initial spark of "coloring" this story with music, i.e. creating a kind of "soundtrack" for the book, came to him already in 1999, and has ever since haunted the back of his mind.
"Music Inspired By The Life And Times Of Scrooge - Written And Produced By Tuomas Holopainen" contains 10 songs, with total duration of approximately 60 minutes. The music is said to be in the soundtrack / classical / folk genre in the vein of Vaughan Williams, Michael Nyman, James Newton Howard and Enya.
Pip Williams did the orchestral arrangements for the "Life And Times Of Scrooge" disc, continuing his collaboration with Tuomas after the NIGHTWISH records "Once", "Dark Passion Play" and "Imaginaerum".
There are a number of guest musicians appearing on "Life And Times Of Scrooge", including the London Orchestra, The Metro Voices (a choir from London) and four lead vocalists: Alan Reid, Johanna Kurkela, Johanna Iivanainen and Tony Kakko. Other guest appearances include Troy Donockley (uilleann pipes, low whistles, bodhran), Mikko Iivanainen (guitars and banjo), Teho Majamäki (didgeridoo), Jon Burr (harmonica) and Dermot Crehan on the solo violin.
The recordings took place during August - October 2013, first at Angel Studios in London, then in various locations around Scotland and Finland.
The author of the book, Don Rosa, did the artwork for the album.
There will be a single release, for the track "A Lifetime Of Adventure", and a music video to go with it.
Holopainen recently spoke to Finland's YLE about "Music Inspired By The Life And Times Of Scrooge - Written And Produced By Tuomas Holopainen". Check out the report below.
Tuomas previously stated about how the idea for the project came about: "It was back in 1999, during the 'Oceanborn' tour, that I remember first having the idea of writing a 'soundtrack' to my all-time favorite piece of Disney comic, 'The Life And Times Of Scrooge McDuck', by Don Rosa, the apparent heir of the almighty Carl Barks. This book has had such an overwhelming effect on me throughout these years, and finally I have the means and the time to make that dream a reality.
"It all started with a story called 'Last Sled To Dawson', which was published in a Finnish Donald Duck magazine in the late '80s. It instantly became one of my favorite Scrooge/Donald stories and also introduced Mr. Don Rosa to my Disney universe. This story is not part of the actual 'Life And Times' opus, though, but 'a companion story,' set in between the chapters #8 and #9. Then when the massive 12-chapter piece was released in mid-'90s, I was completely and utterly hooked. It was similar to reading 'The Lord Of The Rings' as an 8-year-old, or seeing 'Raiders Of The Lost Ark' for the first time. Adventure, fun and the strangely familiar feeling of home.
"With Scrooge, there was also a much deeper level hidden between the stories and the gags.
"This is a book about life itself. What an unfathomable privilege it is, what are the things that truly matter during our existence. It's about the immense beauty of the world and its possibilities seen through the eyes of a very relentless, honest and complex character. It's about love and family, gain and loss, darkness and rebirth.
"And on top of that, well, it's just your good old-fashioned storytelling fun!"

Drummer Mike Portnoy (FLYING COLORS, THE WINERY DOGS, DREAM THEATER, AVENGED SEVENFOLD) quit ADRENALINE MOB in June 2013 due to "scheduling conflicts."
In an interview with Brazil's "Wikimetal", Allen stated about Portnoy's departure from ADRENALINE MOB: "He's been, obviously, real busy with THE WINERY DOGS. The truth of it is we wanna keep working, we wanna keep doing ADRENALINE MOB and we don't wanna wait around for Mike to have the time [to put into ADRENALINE MOB]. And he doesn't know when he will have the time again, so that's really what's going down. Mike Portnoy was asked to be in the band by myself. Me and Orlando had already written all the material, so [ADRENALINE MOB's debut album] 'Omertá' was completely finished before Mike joined the act. And it's a bummer, but he's got his sights on other things, and he's not gonna stick around. So we wish him the best of luck, but the MOB's gotta go on."
ADRENALINE MOB released "Covertá", an eight-track EP featuring cover versions of some of the group's favorite songs, on March 12, 2013.

VAMPIRE: 'Howl From The Coffin' Song Available For Streaming
 Swedish death metal act VAMPIRE will release its self-titled debut album in Europe on March 3 and in North America on March 18 via Century Media Records. Featuring ten tracks of relentless death metal with haunting melodies and a deadly horror vibe, "Vampire" promises to not disappoint. The eerie cover artwork was created by Mattias Frisk, who is known for his work with bands such as GHOST, VANHELGD and MAIM. VAMPIRE was founded in 2011 by Hand Of Doom (vocals), Black String (guitars) and Command (bass). JAKE E. LEE's RED DRAGON CARTEL: 'Deceived' Video Released
 "Deceived", the first-ever video from RED DRAGON CARTEL, the band led by former OZZY OSBOURNE and BADLANDS guitarist Jake E. Lee, can be seen below. The song is taken from RED DRAGON CARTEL's self-titled debut album, which will be released on January 28 via Frontiers Records. The CD was recorded at Las Vegas' The Hideout Recording Studio — owned and operated by Kevin Churko (OZZY OSBOURNE, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, IN THIS MOMENT) — and was produced by R. Bernard Mann (a.k.a. Ronnie Mancuso) and Jake E. Lee, and executive-produced, mixed and mastered by Churko.
RED DRAGON CARTEL, which references the axeman's Japanese roots, also features Darren "D.J." Smith of Canadian metallers WARMACHINE, on vocals, Ronnie Mancuso (BEGGARS & THIEVES) on bass and Jonas Fairley (BLACK BETTY) on drums.

ADLER Has Not Broken Up, Says Singer JACOB BUNTON
 LYNAM members Jacob Bunton (lead vocals, guitar and Lonny Paul (guitar, vocals) recently spoke to Diamond-Dave Castagno of RadioScreamer about the status of Jacob's and Lonny's other band, ADLER, which is led by former GUNS N' ROSES drummer Steven Adler.
Little has been heard from ADLER since the band was forced to cancel its summer 2013 tour due to Steven checking into an undisclosed rehabilitation center to continue working on his sobriety.
Asked for an update on ADLER's current status, Jacob told RadioScreamer (see video below): "We haven't broken up. We had to cancel the tour, obviously, 'cause Steven had to concentrate on himself, and that's priority No. 1. We love him; he's our brother and we want him to be healthy and staying at home. For the meantime, it's healthier [that way]. And maybe one of these days we'll be able to do some shows, or whatever. But nah, we haven't broken up, and he's our brother."
He added: "Obviously, from where we stand, it was an absolute honor to play with somebody that was in our favorite band of all time. Not only Steven — we also played with [former GUNS N' ROSES bassist] Duff [McKagan], we played with [ex-GUNS N' ROSES guitarist] Slash; three-fifths of the original GUNS N' ROSES. It's like, when you are a kid, you can never even dream of doing something like that. You're just, like, 'Wow!' It's crazy."
ADLER's debut album, "Back From The Dead", which was released in North America on November 26, 2012 via New Ocean Media. The CD was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Jeff Pilson (FOREIGNER, DOKKEN) and was mixed by Jay Ruston (ANTHRAX, STONE SOUR). The effort consists of 11 tracks, ranging from adrenaline-pumping rockers ("Back From The Dead", "Own Worst Enemy", "Another Version Of The Truth") to arena-rock anthems ("Good To Be Bad", "Blown Away") to powerful, heartfelt ballads ("Waterfall", "Just Don't Ask"). The album features a guest appearance by Adler's former GUNS N' ROSES bandmate Slash.
Adler appeared on season two of on the "Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew" show and the first season of the spin-off program "Sober House" back in late 2008 and early 2009. Adler then went on to stints in real rehab centers after being ordered to by a judge as part of a DUI bust. He subsequently returned for Season 5 of "Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew" alongside Michael Lohan, Dwight Gooden and Bai Ling, among others.
"Celebrity Rehab Presents Sober House" included footage of Adler being arrested on July 18, 2008 after he showed up at a sober-living home high and in possession of heroin.
Steven Adler was the drummer for GUNS N' ROSES from 1985 to 1990. He was eventually fired from the band due to his drug addiction, which caused him to spiral down into depression and more drug use. Steven Adler's autobiography, "My Appetite for Destruction: Sex, and Drugs, and Guns N' Roses", came out in July 2010. In the book, Adler tells all, fearlessly addressing his struggles with heroin and crack addiction; his financial ruin after being kicked out of GN'R; his shattered marriage; and the severe health problems that nearly claimed his life on several occasions.

Denmark's BLACK BOOK LODGE Sign With Mighty Music; First Single Released / Streaming
 Copenhagen, Denmark-based stoner rock trio BLACK BOOK LODGE made themselves recognized on the Danish rock and metal scene when releasing their debut EP, We Are Legion, in 2011. Today, Mighty Music releases the first single, entitled 'Black Sheep/Prodigal Sons', from their upcoming 2014 album Tûndra.
In spite of the short spanned existence of Black Book Lodge, rumors of the bands sound began to spread fast, after the release of their EP We Are Legion. Even to the point of being invited to support THE KANDIDATE (featuring Jacob Bredahl of HASTEPHERE) on their Danish tour in 2012. Shortly hereafter, the band started recording their debut album, which will be released by Mighty Music/Target in the spring of 2014.
The first single, entitled 'Black Sheep/Prodigal Sons', is released today, and is a prime example of the grandiose, forceful performance Black Book Lodge is known for.
"The song portrays the fragile story about the growing longing for meaning and substance in an otherwise godless world." singer and guitarist Ronny Jønsson explains.
The single release also contains the monumental track 'Cripplegate', which depicts a more progressive and melodic side of the band.

"Due to conflicts and complications in our upcoming tour schedule, Joey Brasler will no longer be a member of Little Caesar. We will be eternally grateful for his contributions over the last four years in creating great music.
Replacing Joey Brasler will be Joey Malone who has made music with the likes of STEVEN TYLER, MARILYN MANSON, JOHNNY DEPP, etc. The four other original members are excited about him joining our family for our upcoming UK and Europe tours as well as future recordings."

GHOST's Next Album Will Have Less Vocals, Says A Nameless Ghoul
 Swedish occult rockers GHOST are planning to enter the studio in the fall to begin recording their third album for a 2015 release. Asked by Andrew Haug of AndrewHaug.com, Australia's first-ever dedicated 24/7 rock and metal online radio station, if the next CD will — as has been suggested in recent interviews — be "more metallic" than the previous efforts, one of GHOST's Nameless Ghouls said (hear audio below): "What I've been trying to sort of make clear was that [2013's] 'Infestissumam' turned out to be quite a vocal record, which goes very well with the level of theatrics of our live show right now. Whereas in the future, when we plan to go even more elaborate when it comes to theatrics and live performances, we cannot really have Papa singing all the time, because a) that's not very good for dynamics; b) it's not very healthy to have a singer that sings all the time; and c) from an instrumentalist's point of view, as much as I like the current record, I think we wanna do a record that might be more instrumental and thus, with that saying that it might be more riff-based. But these are just general thoughts about this from our point of view. If it makes the record come out as more of a metal record or not, it's very hard to tell right now."
GHOST was honored with the P3 Guld award (for their criticially acclaimed "Infestissumam" release) from Swedish radio station P3 in the "Best Rock/Metal Album Of The Year" category. The winners were announced this past Saturday night (January 18) during a live awards ceremony broadcast from the Scandinavium in Gothenburg, Sweden.
GHOST's sophomore album, "Infestissumam", sold around 14,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 28 on The Billboard 200 chart.
The CD topped the official chart in the group's home country after selling nearly five times as many copies as the No. 2 album, MISS LI's "Wolves".
GHOST was forced to modify its name in the U.S. to GHOST B.C. for "legal reasons."

INSOMNIUM's VILLE FRIMAN: The 'New Songs Sound Just Amazing'
 Finnish melodic death metallers INSOMNIUM are currently recording their new album for a spring release via Century Media Records.
Says INSOMNIUM guitarist/vocalist Ville Friman: "Again, the process could be described as a battle against time and ever-narrowing deadlines.
"We worked long days and we worked hard. But in the end, it was all worth of it: new songs sound just amazing.
"I think the new material is a bit more atmospheric than before. We explored different directions, and for example, experimented with rhythms a bit more; we even have blast beats on this album. And, of course, Markus Vanhala brought in his influence in terms of songwriting and guitar playing, which is something new. However, I think we did not push it too far, but stayed loyal to our own sound.
"Our intention was never really to change but merely update and revise our sound a bit. And I think we did pretty good job with it."
INSOMNIUM recently released the first song, "Ephemeral", off its forthcoming album. The first track to feature new guitarist Markus Vanhala (also in OMNIUM GATHERUM), who replaced Ville Vänni in 2011, "Ephemeral" was made available digitally in Europe on September 23, 2013 and was accompanied by three bonus tracks — acoustic songs that can be heard in the background of the INSOMNIUM documentary.
Comments the band: "After the success of our last single, 'Weather The Storm', we decided that it would be a good idea to record some new material this summer before releasing the actual new full-length album. This was also a good opportunity to explore different studios and work with different people. Just to explore our sound a bit more in terms of production.
"The drums [were] recorded by Kimmo Perkkiö at SF Sound (Finland). Everything else recorded by Teemu Aalto at Korkeakoski Studios, Kotka (Finland). The song was mixed and mastered by André Alvinzi and Jens Bogren, respectively, at Fascination Street Studios in Sweden.
"It was nice challenge to work on the instrumental side of INSOMNIUM and come up with music that has more cinematic edge to it."
INSOMNIUM's latest album, "One For Sorrow", was released in October 2011 in North America via Century Media Records. The CD was recorded in Gothenburg, Sweden with sound engineer Daniel Antonsson (also bassist in DARK TRANQUILLITY and guitarist in DIMENSION ZERO) and at Fantom studios in Tempere, Finland, where the album was also mixed by Samu Oittisen.

ANTHRAX's FRANK BELLO On New Material: 'There's More Of A Thrash Element In The Vibe'
 ANTHRAX bassist Frank Bello recently spoke to U.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the band's follow-up to 2011's "Worship Music" album.
"I think we've got twelve songs for the new ANTHRAX record right now, and I don't know what happened, but for some reason, there's a great jam going on," he said.
"Scott [Ian, guitar], Charlie [Benante, drums] and I have been getting together and it's been running smoothly. Maybe it's been from all the touring we did for 'Worship Music', but we're not used to it coming together this fast.
"Let me tell you, there's more of a thrash element in the vibe.
"It's a heavy record.
"I'm really psyched about it.
"Scott and I were talking about it recently, how some of it is really tough to play. We need to warm up into it, and that lends itself to some fun, so I love the challenge of it all, and we just want to push it to the next level. That's all we want to do.
"We're having fun, man."
ANTHRAX's next album will mark the recording debut with the band of lead guitarist Jonathan Donais (SHADOWS FALL), who replaced Rob Caggiano in January 2013.
Regarding whether Donais is now officially an ANTHRAX member, Ian told Metal Insider: "For all intents and purposes, he's in ANTHRAX. He's going to be there for everything we do moving forward. As far as how you title it, yeah. As far as I'm concerned, Jon is in ANTHRAX and will be playing leads on the record and will be touring with the band starting at the end of May 2014."
"Worship Music" has sold more than 110,000 copies in the United States since its September 2011 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

ROB ZOMBIE Sells California Home For $3.65 Million
 According to the Los Angeles Times, rocker-turned-filmmaker Rob Zombie has sold his home in Hancock Park, California for $3.65 million. The half-timber house was listed last September for $3.95 million.
The tree-sheltered Tudor, built in 1924, features wood paneling in the living room and pub rooms as well as the entry. The kitchen has been remodeled and includes a butler's pantry. There are six bedrooms and five bathrooms for a total of 6,249 square feet of interior space. The half-acre lot also contains a guest house, pool house, swimming pool and spa.
The home previously sold in 1999 for $1.799 million.
Rob Zombie in August 2013 commented on the report that his wife, Sheri Moon Zombie, had asked the town of Woodbury, Connecticut, where she and her husband now live, to move a skateboard park that is adjacent to their property due to the noise coming from the facility.
According to The Pulse Of Radio, Sheri spoke up at the annual town budget meeting, saying, "I was wondering if we could designate some of the reserve to move the skateboard park that was put adjacent to my property which is proved to be a significant noise pollutant and has reduced the quality of life for me and my two other neighbors that it affects." Town selectman Gerald Stomski said that the town has taken steps to muffle the noise, including enclosing the undersides of the skate ramps and cutting back on the park's hours of operation.
But Sheri insisted that the town hasn't gone far enough, saying, "I know they're trying to improve the obnoxious noise with the wood on the side of the ramps, and that did nothing. I know they have ordered sound fabric. I think this is just a Band-Aid. The skateboard park should not have been put there."
In a posting on his Facebook page, Rob wrote: "It seems nuts to even have to address this, but I guess I will. Some really crazy articles have popped up making claims about 'hating skaters' and 'hating children.' None of this is true and it makes me sick that someone would print such lies.
"There is a simple matter going on in which we are trying to find a solution that will make EVERYBODY happy. Unfortunately, someone decided to turn it into a whole ugly event. What a bummer."
The Zombies have lived at their Sycamore Avenue home since 2009, four years prior to the opening of the skate park at Hollow Park in March of 2013. The main park itself has been there for decades.

METALLICA Guitarist Kirk Hammett Promises "Completely Insane" Grammy Awards Performance
 METALLICA recently announced that they would hold one of the most unique performances of their career when they share the stage with renowned concert pianist LANG LANG during the 56th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday, January 26th. Guitarist Kirk Hammett recently spoke with Rolling Stone about the upcoming performance of the classic Metallica track, 'One':
Hammett: "It's gonna be completely insane. Lang Lang has interjected himself into the song in a way I don't think anyone else has ever done in the course of our career. He's going to be playing major parts of the song. He's going to be playing through the melody."
"He's going to be weaving in and out of my guitar solos, which is amazing for me, because I've never played with another instrument that's been able to do that so effortlessly. We're keeping all the heavy parts. It's going to be really cool and it's really dynamic."

Metallica recently issued the following statement regarding their upcoming Grammy Awards appearance:

Through The Never, directed by award-winning filmmaker Nimród Antal, will be released on DVD, Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray, digitally, and V.O.D. (Video On Demand) on January 28th through Blackened Recordings.

JOURNEY, QUEEN, AC/DC Classics Among Best Songs For Driving
 A new Insurance.com survey identifies the best and worst songs for the road, plus some guilty pleasures.
JOURNEY's "Don't Stop Believin'" has been voted the best song for driving, while "Who Let the Dogs Out?" by THE BAHA MEN was picked as the worst , according to an Insurance.com survey.
Insurance.com commissioned a survey of 2,000 drivers and asked them to choose the best and worst songs for driving, as well as music that they secretly listen to in the car.
Rounding out the top five were QUEEN's 1975 rock opera "Bohemian Rhapsody", AC/DC's classic "You Shook Me All Night Long", another JOURNEY tune from the '80s, "Any Way You Want It" and TOM COCHRANE's 1991 hit "Life is a Highway".
The following percentage of voters chose these songs as the best car music:

Percentages total more than 100 because respondents were allowed to choose up to five songs.
"Some people mock the Bay Area balladeers, but there's no denying journey has a fan base, given they took two of the top five spots for songs that people enjoy when driving," said Michelle Megna, managing editor of Insurance.com.
Respondents could also provide their own picks for songs that make you want to crank up the volume when behind the wheel. "Highway to Hell" by AC/DC, "Radar Love" by GOLDEN EARRING and "I Can't Drive 55" by SAMMY HAGAR topped the list of write-in choices.
Drivers were also asked to write in the names of songs and artists that make them want to tune out immediately. "Baby" by Justin Bieber, "Wrecking Ball" by Miley Cyrus and "any type of rap" were among the most popular losers.
When asked what bands, artists or stations they listen to when driving that they don't make known to others, Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga were knotted up in the top three spots.
"Strictly from data analysis we can surmise that the ideal driving songs would be duets with Bruno Mars and Taylor Swift singing old JOURNEY favorites," said Megna.
When guilty-pleasure listening is broken down by gender, tied for the top write-in response for women are gospel music and Eminem; for men, Adele and 2Pac tied for top write-in response.
Insurance.com surveyed 2,000 licensed drivers age 18 and older. Respondents were split evenly between males and females and distributed across age groups according to Census data on age distribution. The online-panel survey was fielded in October 2013. Percentages for best and worst songs total more than 100 because respondents were allowed to choose up to five songs in each category.

JANE'S ADDICTION On Hiatus As PERRY FARRELL Works On Musical
 According to The Pulse Of Radio, JANE'S ADDICTION is going to be on hiatus for a while as frontman Perry Farrell works on an electronic dance music stage musical called "Kind Heaven". Farrell told Rolling Stone that the proposed show, which deals with the sex and drug trades in Thailand, "is a pretty massive undertaking, so JANE'S ADDICTION is going to take a hiatus. It’ll be a couple of years before you see JANE'S again." Farrell added that the musical was a "love story with a very modern scenario," in which a soldier sent by the Thai government to subdue an insurgency falls in love with a female sex worker and runs away with her to a Buddhist monastery.
Farrell hopes to open the show in Las Vegas, and recently visited the city to scope out potential theaters for what he envisions as an immersive, interactive production that audience members will walk through.
Farrell plans to hit the DJ and club circuit soon with his wife Etty to test out songs he has already written for the show.
JANE'S ADDICTION, which has broken up and reunited several times since forming in 1985, released its fourth studio album, "The Great Escape Artist", in 2011.
The group released "Live In NYC" last June on DVD/CD, Blu-ray and double LP vinyl, and issued a new track called "Another Soulmate" during the summer.

HYDROGYN Vocalist Julie Westlake - "It's Time To Fire Back Up"; 'Back In Black' Live Video Streaming
 HYDROGYN will issue their new release, Break The Chains, on January 28th. A pre-order is currently available at this location which will include a bonus DVD of the 'Rock Me' video, as well as interviews with vocalist Julie Westlake and guitarist Jeff Westlake.
Julie announces that 2014 is a comeback year of sorts for the band: "The past couple of years have been full of health issues, losing two children and just re-grouping on a personal level. We have not been doing anything because of that and now it is time to fire back up; which we are doing. We have the new EP coming out end of this month and then we have a DVD in production right now as well."
The band is planning on some shows in 2014 as well. For now they are shooting a new video which will be released in late February and also just released a video performing AC/DC classic 'Back In Black' during their 2006 Strip'em Blind Tour.
“Thank you to everyone who has stayed with us and look for something cool in almost every month of this year to come your way”, states Westlake.
About the upcoming new release, Julie recently said: “As always this goes in a bit of a different direction once again,” says Julie. “I love to keep it all fresh and not the same thing with different song titles. I think everyone will dig it.”
