WINTERSUN: Quality Fan-Filmed Performance Footage Of Song From Forthcoming Album
 Quality fan-filmed video footage of the Finnish epic metallers WINTERSUN performing the song "The Way Of The Fire", from their forthcoming album, "Time II", on August 7 at the Theatre of Living Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania can be seen below.
After several sold-out shows last year on their inaugural North American co-headlining tour with ELUVEITIE, WINTERSUN has returned to North American shores once again for a headlining tour this August/September. Joining them are Italian symphonic death metal champions FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE, melodic tech-death kings ARSIS and up-and-comers STARKILL.
Says WINTERSUN: "We're thrilled to return to North America for a full-scale headliner tour in August and September! It will be our first longer own headlining tour ever and this time, without any setlist length limitations, we'll be able to offer the North American crowds a special show — representing both the 'Wintersun' and 'Time I' albums. There might also be some surprises in the setlist as well... We are really looking forward to sharing the live magic with YOU, all the fans out there!"
WINTERSUN's "Time I" was nominated in the "Metal Album Of The Year" category at this year's Emma Gaala (Finnish Grammy equivalent), which was held on March 1 at Barona Areena in Espoo, Finland.
"Time I" sold nearly 4,000 copies in its first week of release in the United States to land at position No. 109 on The Billboard 200 chart.

THE QUIREBOYS: 'Diamonds And Dirty Stones' Lyric Video Released
 The official lyric video for the song "Diamonds And Dirty Stones" from U.K. rockers THE QUIREBOYS can be seen below. The track comes off the band's seventh studio album, "Beautiful Curse", which was released on June 24 via Off Yer Rocka Recordings. A single, "Too Much Of A Good Thing", preceded the full-length CD on May 15. The band's first CD since 2008’s critically acclaimed "Homewreckers & Heartbreakers" was produced and mixed by the legendary Chris Tsangarides (JUDAS PRIEST, GARY MOORE, THIN LIZZY), who promises a modern sound with old-school values.

ROYAL HUNT Completes Writing New Album
 Danish/American hard rockers ROYAL HUNT have completed all songwriting for their new album and rehearsals/pre-production will begin in a couple of weeks. The material has been described as a continuation of the band's last CD, "Show Me How To Live", but with new elements in in both the songwriting and production departments.
In order to upgrade its trademark sound, ROYAL HUNT is planning to employ a large number of classical/orchestra players in the studio as well as a large choir.
ROYAL HUNT's new album is expected to be released in November this year through Marquee/Avalon (Japan and Southeast Asia) and Frontiers (Europe and North America).
Frontiers Records released ROYAL HUNT's new box set, "20th Anniversary - Special Edition", on November 23, 2012 in Europe and January 21, 2013 in North America.

STORMZONE: 'Three Kings' Video Released
 Irish metallers STORMZONE will release their fourth album, "Three Kings", on September 2 via the U.K. label Metal Nation Ltd.
The official video for the CD's title track can be seen below.
Formed in 2006, STORMZONE originally signed to U.K. hard rock label Escape Music. 2007 saw this company release the band's debut album, "Caught In The Act", in Europe where its impact gained the band attention in Japan and the CD saw a release there shortly afterwards.
Over the next few years, STORMZONE concentrated on extensive touring and supported bands such as Y&T, TESLA, STRYPER, SAXON, CINDERELLA, L.A. GUNS, WINGER and WHITE LION as well as securing great positions at festivals in Europe, including Wacken Open Air, Sweden Rock, Lorca Rock in Spain and Headbangers Open Air. The band developed a heavier sound over the years and recorded its second album, "Death Dealer", which was released by German metal label SPV/Steamhammer. This CD was produced by the legendary Neal Kaye, the man widely regarded as the person who discovered IRON MAIDEN. The live work continued in support of this new album, and while touring with TESLA in the U.K., the band came to the attention of head of Metal Nation Ltd., Jess Cox. Jess was the original singer in NWOBHM band TYGERS OF PAN TANG and he formed a lasting bond with the band, which was to see him eventually become their manager. Jess secured a deal with SPV for the band's third album, "Zero To Rage", and this was released throughout Europe to great reviews in 2011.
And so to album number four for this Irish metal five-piece. Free of all contracts in 2013, the band wrote and recorded "Three Kings" and with regards to which label was going to release it there was no doubt in the minds of STORMZONE as to who that was going to be. Seeing as the band had just signed a management deal with Steve Simms at Blink Music Management, as that company were based in Belfast, this allowed Jess Cox to sign the band to his Metal Nation label to maintain the relationship he had built with them and now he could put all his efforts into promoting STORMZONE and "Three Kings" as head of their record label. Jess and the band met at the Metal Assault festival in Germany earlier in 2013 and agreed that there would be no better label than Metal Nation to have the best interests of STORMZONE at heart. A great relationship had already been formed and the legacy of Jess and the label in the world of the NWOBHM was important to the everyone's decision to sign the five-year, three-album deal he offered them.

BEAUTY IN THE SUFFERING Confirm TRAPT, SKINLAB, RAZORBLADE DOLLS Members For Select Tracks
 BEAUTY IN THE SUFFERING, the newly launched electro-metal studio project from producer Dietrich Thrall (MARAZENE), have announced several more contributors to the bands growing list of special guests. Drummer Aaron ‘Monty’ Montgomery of platinum rockers TRAPT will contribute drums on 'The Plea', a track expected to appear on the band's debut full length album.
Said Monty, “Had a blast working on this project and in particular ‘The Plea.’ Awesome track with kick ass industrial rock drive that has the melodies to match. Watch out for these guys!”
Current THE RAZORBLADE DOLLS guitarist Chris Telkes has contributed guitar on the band's announced debut single, 'The Crazies'. Chris is perhaps best known for co-founding the industrial rock band NOCTURNE with LACEY CONNER (VH1's Rock Of Love). BEAUTY IN THE SUFFERING are expected to announce a release date for the digital single in the coming weeks.
SKINLAB guitarist Provo Provenzano (RIKETS, EVERYBODY PANIC!) will add guitars to 'Reveille', the the expected second digital single from the band, expected in the fall. Provo has also been the engineering force behind the project with tracking taking place at Pirated Sound Studios and Bell Lab Recordings, both located in the Oklahoma City, OK metro area.
“Beauty In The Suffering is one of the most exciting projects I’ve worked on lately”, Provo commented. “DieTrich is insanely precise in the studio and has a great vision for where his songs need to be and the diy ability and attitude to get it done right.”
“Real talented and cool bunch of guys who I am beyond thrilled to have on board the very first Beauty In The Suffering songs – the tracks they sent us have been top shelf embellishment", Dietrich offered. “Provo has been been my weapon of choice in helping me realize these tracks at the level I always heard them in my head so a very big kudos to him for that as well.”
Beauty In The Suffering previously announced Angel Bartolotta (DOPE, TEAM CYBERGEIST) as having supplied live drums to 'The Crazies' in February of this year while drummer Chris Emery of AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE was reported to have completed work on seven additional Beauty In The Suffering songs in a marathon 15 hour session last December.
Dietrich (pronounced Dee-Trick) is best known for his co-founding and co-visionary role in the industrial-metal band Marazene (later called MARAZENE MACHINE) based in Chicago.
From managing the band during its most active and successful national touring years (2006-2008), to co-producing the band's critically hailed cover of MÖTLEY CRÜE's 'Live Wire' in 2011 as well as the band's lone official full-length album (MachiNation, 2006), to writing fan-favorite tracks such as 'Give', to guiding the band's philosophical and edgy lyrical approach ('AnTiThesis', 'Infidel Society'), to producing multiple videos for the band, Dietrich's contributions and influence are heavily noted. | 0 | |

THE MAN-EATING TREE Parts Ways With Keyboardist, Prepares To Enter Studio
 THE MAN-EATING TREE — the atmospheric metal band featuring former SENTENCED drummer Vesa Ranta alongside current/former members of POISONBLACK, REFLEXION and EMBRAZE — has issued the following update:
"Our band has been working on a material for the third record for over a year now, with some very promising results.
"A few months ago, we went through all the material we'd already come up with and decided which songs we would continue with and would probably end up on the next THE MAN-EATING TREE record. At the end of August we're about to enter the studio. We're excited and certain that once again we've found some new elements to enrich our music. In the studio we have also some new things going on, this time we'll be working with the producer/musician Aksu Hanttu.
"Describing our own music is always difficult, but you could say that our basic sound is getting somewhat heavier and more somber, but you still definitely recognize the old THE MAN-EATING TREE sound. Our new singer, Antti Kumpulainen, brings some new nuances to our sound. With him we've done more demo recordings than ever before."
Says Kumpulainen: "I knew that my longtime friend Janne had this new band and I'd heard both 'Vine' and 'Harvest' and really liked the atmosphere there was. But what I didn't know was that THE MAN-EATING TREE were looking for a new singer. So after a brief discussion with the members of the band, it became very clear that I wanted to be a part of THE MAN-EATING TREE.
"I've always been into music that has the light and the shade in it, some kind of 'the beauty and the beast' mentality.
"For me, music and lyrics together create an atmosphere that's passionate, cathartic, beautiful, somber. Some sort of emotional passage which eventually will become cathartic.
"I have various musical inspirations, DEFTONES, NINE INCH NAILS, ALICE IN CHAINS, CULT OF LUNA, KATATONIA, PORTISHEAD and A PERFECT CIRCLE, to name some. But my main inspiration comes from the highs and the lows of our everyday lives."
Adds Ranta: "Like I told you before, for the last year our band has been working hard with the new material. At the same time, our keyboardist Heidi Määttä was studying elsewhere in Finland. After her studies she felt that she's no longer part of our band and therefore could not continue. There's no drama, we just grew apart, that's all. THE MAN-EATING TREE wants to thank Heidi for everything and wishes all the best for her."

NEPHREN-KA To Release New Album In September

BATTLELORE Frontman's LOWBURN Working On New Material For Full Length Album

"We are currently recording 12-13 news songs to be used on forthcoming LP/EP/7" releases. The recording will feature the songs from the Soaring High EP but they will be re-recorded and arranged for the new releases. Other songs will be totally new ones.
We have also played a few gigs and more are coming up. Hoping for some possibilities in mainland Europe as well after the album release. We are also seeking for partners to work with with the release(s)/booking/promotion/etc."
Lowburn features present Battlelore members Henkka Vahvanen (drums) and Tomi Mykkänen (guitar/vocals), and former B'lore members Miika Kokkola (bass) and Tommi Havo (guitar)/
Mykkänen comments: "I personally haven't been this enthusiastic about any bands in years. We started jamming with a few KYUSS songs and I can say that this is the path we will go further (stylistically, not playing Kyss' songs). The first song is a lot doomier but the second one is a lot more stoner rock. So, we'll see how it turns out. This is dead serious though; lots, lots of fun!"

SMILE EMPTY SOUL
 Southern California alternative rock veterans SMILE EMPTY SOUL have revealed the cover art and track listing for their sixth studio album, "Chemicals", due out October 1 on the band's new imprint, Two Disciples Entertainment.
"Chemicals", a record vocalist/guitarist Sean Danielsen describes as "a very raw album for today's standards," will be the debut release on the new label. In conjunction with Pavement Entertainment, Two Disciples Entertainment will see the band controlling all aspects of marketing and promotion for the new record and impending tours.
Commented Danielsen: "We've been on a different label with every release in our career, and we were tired of not being the priority.
"We started our own label with a business partner who's been a great friend to us over the last 10 years, and found distribution through some other longtime friends of ours. Now we're running the campaign ourselves and we're totally in control, doing what we feel needs to be done."
According to the vocalist, fans can expect the same emotional rock the band has delivered since its inception in 1998, but with an evolved edge, sharpened from over a decade on the road.
"'Chemicals' still has our signature sound," he adds, "but it has its own feel apart from our other work."
And with regards to the album title, "'Chemicals' made so much sense to us because of the day and age we live in. We're all eating, drinking, and breathing chemicals on a daily basis and there's no escape."

KATAKLYSM: 'Waiting For The End To Come' Alternate Deluxe Artwork Unveiled
 Montreal, Quebec, Canada-based death metallers KATAKLYSM have revealed the alternate cover art for their new album, "Waiting For The End To Come". The artwork by Eliran Kantor (TESTAMENT, HATEBREED) will be featured on the deluxe digipak and LP versions of their new album, which will be released on October 29 in North America via Nuclear Blast. The previously released cover by Peter Sallai (SABATON) will be featured on the standard jewel case and limited edition cassette tape versions.
"This other version of the new art made by Eliran Kantor represents a more iconic and epic approach,” commented vocalist Maurizio Iacono. "A man representing all of humanity, shaking the foundation of existence and ultimately beginning the process of destruction. The main foundation is depicted here as the famous KATAKLYSM 'tribal sun' logo. It does not represent the end of KATAKLYSM by any means; more the beginning of a new era after the end of a certain existence."
The follow-up to 2010's "Heaven's Venom", "Waiting For The End To Come" was recorded by KATAKLYSM guitarist Jean-François Dagenais, who has previously worked with MALEVOLENT CREATION, MISERY INDEX and DESPISED ICON, among others, and mixed by Chris "Zeuss" Harris (SUFFOCATION, HATEBREED, ARSIS).
As previously reported, KATAKLYSM has recruited ex-NEURAXIS drummer Oli Beaudoin to sit behind the kit during the recording sessions for "Waiting For The End To Come". Beaudoin is also playing all of KATAKLYSM's currenty announced shows.
Drummer Max Duhamel announced on April 8 that he was taking a break from KATAKLYSM to deal with issues related to alcohol abuse.

GLENN DANZIG's Duet With CHERIE CURRIE Available For Streaming
 DANZIG's cover version of the the classic Lee Hazelwood/Nancy Sinatra song "Some Velvet Morning", featuring a guest appearance by Cherie Currie (THE RUNAWAYS), can be streamed at Danzig-Verotik.com. The track will appear on Danzig's upcoming covers album, which will also include Glenn's renditions of classic songs from BLACK SABBATH, ELVIS PRESLEY and ZZ TOP, among others.
In a recent interview with Full Metal Jackie, Glenn stated about the bands he is covering on the album: "Elvis, of course, I heard when I was a kid and SABBATH when I was a young teenager, but the ZZ TOP song is a song I heard later on because it's a song that no one would ever think I would cover, because it's not one of their earlier songs. It's a song I always liked and thought that they didn't do a good job with. I mean, it's terrible to say that but… it's a really good song and so I wanted to cover it and give it the respect it deserved. Maybe they didn't think about it the way I did, maybe when they were doing it they had a certain thing in mind. My idea of covers is that you should never cover a song and do it exactly like the artist because everyone's always going to compare it to the way the original artists did it and they're just going to go, 'Oh, I like the original better.' I wanted to make it my own and take it in a different direction, maybe a different direction they didn't really think of at the time or would never think of, because I have a much different background than they do. There's a ton of other cool covers on there. I did a lot of covers people wouldn't think I would do, like 'Biker' soundtrack theme song that I made crazy. There's a Lee Hazlewood/Nancy Sinatra cover on there and I had Cherie Currie come down and sing the Nancy Sinatra part. She's really cool and has a great voice and it was just awesome and I wanted to keep that cool, older, '70s vibe because the MISFITS came on the tail end of the '70s and I wanted to keep that vibe. The managers and lots of other people suggested the new alternative girls and I was, like, 'That's not what I want and here's who I'm thinking of,' and they were like 'What?' and it's fantastic; she did such a great job." | 0 | |

DEVIL TO PAY Premier 'Tie One On' Video
 Indianapolis-based sludge/rock riff-mongers DEVIL TO PAY have released a new music video, for their song 'Tie One On', from their Ripple Music debut album, Fate Is Your Muse. The video footage was filmed by Kris Arnold at Fountain Square Brewing Company in the historic Fountain Square area of Indianapolis.
Fate Is Your Muse was released back on April 9th. The album is available on CD, vinyl, and digital formats.

LOVE & DEATH: 'Meltdown' Video Released
 The video for the song "Meltdown" from LOVE & DEATH, the band led by KORN guitarist Brian "Head" Welch, can be seen below.
LOVE & DEATH's debut album, "Between Here & Lost", will be re-released on September 24 as a "deluxe" edition containing a brand new track, "Empty", along with remixes of the songs "The Abandoning" and "Meltdown" by the CD's producer, Jasen Rauch (RED, BREAKING BENJAMIN).
"Between Here & Lost" sold around 4,200 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 95 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD was originally issued on January 22 via Tooth & Nail Records.
Recorded in Nashville with Rauch and mixed by Paul Pavao, Ben Grosse (MARILYN MANSON, DISTURBED) and Jim Monti (KORN), "Between Here & Lost" consists of 11 tracks, ranging from songs about personal struggle and triumph ("Chemicals", "My Disaster", "Paralyzed") to emotionally charged anthems ("Fading Away", "Watching The Bottom Fall") to a riff-heavy rendition of DEVO's 1980 hit "Whip It".
LOVE AND DEATH is comprised of Welch, lead guitarist JR Bareis, bassist Michael Valentine, and drummer Dan Johnson.
Like the album title suggests, "Between Here & Lost" captures the honesty of light and darkness, beauty and tragedy, good and evil, delivered by a band with intense passion and commitment to the message of its music.
"This record was birthed from trials, tribulations, pain, suffering, anxiety, depression, and drama," stated Welch. "However, we came out on top and the end result is a very real, raw and honest record. We are so stoked for people to hear it! From our opening song, 'The Abandoning', to our cover of DEVO's 'Whip it', to our collaboration with Mattie Montgomery from FOR TODAY on 'I W8 4 U', It's an exciting piece of art and the listener will feel the different range of emotions with the lyrics and melodies of each song."

EXODUS: Pro-Shot Footage Of Entire BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR Performance
 Professionally filmed video footage of EXODUS' August 11 performance at the Bloodstock Open Air festival, which was held at Catton Park, Derbyshire, United Kingdom, can be seen below.
EXODUS in taking part in a European tour of 17 cities, with stops in Barcelona, Dublin, London and more. Although SLAYER is currently tapping the talents of guitarist Gary Holt for their European tour, Holt is confirmed to perform at select EXODUS dates. When Holt is not performing with EXODUS, HEATHEN guitarist Kragen Lum will fill in on guitar.
EXODUS recently revealed two brand new, exclusive t-shirt designs, available now only via their official merch store at this location. The new designs, "Only Death Decides" and "Horned Skull", come with a free sticker (with mail order only).
EXODUS' latest album, "Exhibit B: The Human Condition", was released in North America on May 18, 2010 via Nuclear Blast Records.
The CD sold around 4,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 114 on The Billboard 200 chart.
EXODUS' previous album, "The Atrocity Exhibition: Exhibit A", opened with 3,600 units back in October 2007.

 Brazilian metal outfit ENDRAH have released their new lyric video, for the track 'Silver Tongue'. The track is the latest single from their new album, The Culling, which hits stores on September 3rd via Epochal Artist Records/Capitol Music Group.

ECLIPSE PROPHECY Stream 'Legions Of The Cross' Track; New Live Videos Streaming
 Canadian power metallers ECLIPSE PROPHECY are streaming their song 'Legions Of The Cross', featured on the band's debut album, Days Of Judgement, which was released by Maple Metal Records worldwide in March this year. The track, as well as the previously posted 'Labyrinth Of Sanity' can be heard below:
Days of Judgement was produced by David Mc Gregor last Fall at Powerflame Studio, Montreal, QC. The album cover artwork was created by Pascal Laquerre, who is also credited for his album covers with KATAKLYSM and AETERNAM.

AYREON - New Album Complete, To Be Released This Year
 AYREON mastermind Arjen Lucassen recently revealed that the title of the eagerly anticipated forthcoming new album will be The Theory Of Everything, and that it will be a double album.
Lucassen has now checked in with the following update:
"Finally. I'm basically ready with the new Ayreon album! Just in time for a release this year, I'm happy to say. So, expect the 'guess this musician on the new Ayreon' contest to start any time now..."

Lucassen also commented further on the new album: "It's going to be a double album, so there is a lot to write! It's extra challenging as well, because lyrically I've left the old Ayreon universe behind and have to create a new one from scratch. I'm really excited about the line-up and how everything is PROGressing so far. There is physics involved, but mainly it's about human relationships and the emotional costs that come with treading the fine line between genius and madness."

BLOOD STAIN CHILD - Video Trailer For New Single Posted
 Japan's BLOOD STAIN CHILD have posted a trailer for their new single, 'Last Stardust', which will be released on November 29th. The track was mixed and mastered by Jacob Hansen (PRETTY MAIDS), the video was directed by DaishinSZK.

Back in July 2012, Blood Stain Child parted ways with Greek female vocalist Sophia after only one album. The band checked in with the following update back in December 2012 introducing their new singer:
"With careful and thorough screening, Kiki has been selected to be the lead singer of Blood Stain Child. She has been performing as a singer/songwriter and actively involved with studio works and live scenes in various fields. What makes her so unique and talented is to be able to handle both clean voice and scream voice. Some demos will be out soon hopefully soon for you to check out. We already can see your face going 'damn!'"
