MONSTERWORKS Premier Video For 'Late Heavy Bombardment'
4.5 billion years in the making... Eat Lead And Die Music has announced the impending release of MONSTERWORKS' Earth, available from the Monsterworks' webstore on August 20th with digital distribution through the usual outlets on August 30th. The album will be available as a special edition numbered digipak CD signed by the band, with lyric booklet and two bonus tracks.
Vocalist/Guitarist Jon had this to say about the concepts surrounding the album, "I am intrigued by evolution, not just of biological organisms but also how the physical world changes over time, so it was not that much of a stretch to consider doing an album themed around the life-cycle of Earth; beginning with its origin 'From Dust And Gravity' where a clumping together of rock and minerals left over from a supernova explosion formed a globe orbiting an infant star. Each track progresses chronologically, from an early period called the 'Late Heavy Bombardment' which is thought to have delivered water and seeded chemical elements that developed into life and what was to be our 'Last Universal Ancestor.' Then we move onto a time where cyanobacteria started to photosynthesize and a process of 'Oxygenation' paved the way for more complex animals to evolve, 'Powered By Fate' as it were. Explosions of life, even when resulting in huge animals like dinosaurs, were often 'Bookended by Extinction' events that wiped the slate almost entirely clean until our chance came in the present 'Aeon Of Man.'
"Earth honors the seemingly miraculous yet naturally occurring planet on which we live. The title track is the only song that gets a little preachy about our responsibility as custodians of the environment; the rest is just a tale of the sequence of events that got us this far. So take from it philosophically what you will, Monsterworks primarily aims to produce metal which blurs the boundaries between preposterousness and the familiar while hopefully initiating a little independent thought along the way."
Tracklisting:
'From Dust And Gravity'
'Late Heavy Bombardment'
'Last Universal Ancestor'
'Oxygenation'
'Powered By Fate'
'Bookended By Extinction'
'Aeon Of Man'
'Earth'

TONY IOMMI: Performing Live With BLACK SABBATH 'Is Better Than It Was 40 Years Ago'
BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi recently spoke to the Hartford Advocate about the band's comeback album, "13", and their current North American tour, which will hit Mohegan Sun Arena on August 8.
Asked what it feels like playing with singer Ozzy Osbourne and bassist Geezer Butler again, Iommi said: "It's a great feeling. You can't beat that feeling of walking onstage, especially with your old mates, you know. I think it's better than it was 40 years ago."
He continued: "You know, we've been through a lot of experiences, family things and so on. I think when it comes back to the original guys again, it feels really comfortable. You do get — it comes along with age, I suppose — anxieties and different other things. But when you get onstage and start playing, it all settles down.
Iommi also spoke about how the new songs fit with the more classic SABBATH material during the band's live show.
"I think the songs fit in great with the old stuff, and it's also great to have new songs to fit in, because we haven't had any for so many years," he said. "As far as [playing] the whole album [live at some point]: we haven't tried that yet. We are playing four songs off the album, but I'd be up for doing the whole thing. That's how we recorded it, so that's how we can play it. It's an album that is not impossible to do, if you know what I mean. We didn't go in the studio and put loads of stuff on. It IS live, so we could go on and play any of those songs."
Regarding whether SABBATH fans can expect more new music in the near future, Iommi said: "I don't know. It's a question that's been asked a few times. I don't really have an answer for you. At the moment, we're playing it — because of my [cancer] treatments and stuff — I can't commit to doing another two years, or anything like that. I have to play it as it comes now. While I'm doing it, I'm really enjoying it. If the rest of the year goes well, then we'll look at it and see if it's possible to do another album. It would be very nice to."

VENGEACE RISING - 25th Anniversary Limited Edition Vinyl LP Picture Disc Unveiled
Bill Roxx at Roxx Productions has checked in with the following update on the brand new 25th Anniversary Limited Edition picture disc version of the VENGEANCE RISING classic, Human Sacrifice:
"We heard the final remastered for vinyl tracks that Cliffy did for us over at Steinhaus Mastering and they sound awesome, you vinyl fans are gonna love it. Scott Waters, our graphic artist for this project, has been working hard on the layout and design of the actual artwork for the front and back of the picture disc. Scott has been working with what we believe is the very last existing picture from those original photo shoots to recreate the front cover. And you are getting the very first exclusive look at the finished product right now!
It is a little bit of a different take on that original album cover because Scott completely recreated this from scratch using that photo and completely recreating the Vengeance Rising logo. This thing looks sharp, Scott you did an amazing job!
Now for the unveiling of the back cover of the vinyl…. nah, were just kidding you’re gonna have to wait til the release is in your hands to see the whole finished product! Gotta leave something for a surprise!
We dropped off the artwork and music at the pressing plant and this pressing is now actually under way! Little trivia for you, we learned while visiting the record plant, they actually produced the legendary picture disc of To Hell With The Devil from our friends STRYPER way back in the '80s!
We will keep you updated throughout the process! Test pressings should be to us in two weeks and that will probably be the next update. Please help us spread the word on this very special 25th Anniversary release, we want to make sure everyone that may wants one knows it is coming! Also, we really need to sell them all because this thing was an expensive one to produce :) ."

AEROSMITH Guitarist Says The Band Didn't Really Want To Boot STEVEN TYLER
According to The Pulse Of Radio, AEROSMITH guitarist Brad Whitford shed some light on the band's dark period in 2010 when it looked like Steven Tyler would be replaced. The band, frustrated at Tyler's decision to become a judge on Fox's "American Idol", were seriously considering carrying on without the charismatic frontman, before deciding not split the legendary lineup. Whitford told Rock Cellar magazine: "We just felt like we couldn't just let the band fall apart. It never went any further than kind of talking about it. We spoke to maybe one or two singers about the idea but that was about as far as it went. I don't think anybody in the band was terribly keen about getting in a new lead singer. I think we were all just thinking about survival at that point. We weren't ready to give up on the band."
Whitford was pleased with last year's "Music From Another Dimension!" set, which marked AEROSMITH's first collection of all-new material in 11 years. The album debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard album chart, selling 63,000 copies in its first week of release. He explained that staying together was ultimately the smartest decision for AEROSMITH. "It was just pretty obvious we needed to stick together," he said. "We felt we had plenty left in us and there was no sense in doing anything else. We've had different experiences with people off doing some of their own music here and there and that was fun but it doesn't come close to the AEROSMITH experience."
Brad Whitford told The Pulse Of Radio he's comfortable with the numbers that AEROSMITH are hitting with its recent releases, especially since they're no longer reaching the same demographic they were even a decade ago. "A majority of young people that buy records — which is the people that buy records, really — are so heavily influenced by so many other genres of music and stuff," he said. "And I think we're moving out of that a little bit — probably not as bad as the STONES had it, because they were never huge album sellers anyway. You start to move into a time where there's just no way you're going to catch certain younger kids just because of how old you are. You can't do it."
AEROSMITH performs tonight (August 8) in Tokyo, Japan.
The band's next U.S. date will be on August 30 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at the Harley Davidson Anniversary at Henry Maier Festival Park.
Out now is AEROSMITH's latest concert film, "Rock For The Rising Sun". The concert doc was filmed during the band's 2011 Japanese dates, which closely followed a massive earthquake, a monstrous tsunami, and the subsequent meltdown of the Fukushima nuclear plant.
The film's director, Casey Patrick Tebo, was able to zero in on AEROSMITH's now 35-year relationship with its fans in Japan and chronicled how the band — who was advised not to play the dates — helped their fans heal from the triple tragedy.

GREG GINN Explains BLACK FLAG Lawsuit
BLACK FLAG's founding guitarist Greg Ginn has released a statement explaining his decision to file a lawsuit against his former bandmates for alleged copyright infringement.
Ginn claims the members of the recently formed band FLAG — Keith Morris, Dez Cadena, Chuck Dukowski and Bill Stevenson — have infringed the BLACK FLAG name and infamous logo, calling FLAG "a colorable imitation" that's "likely to cause confusion, mistake or deception among consumers."
Also named in the lawsuit, which was filed on August 2 in Federal District Court, is former BLACK FLAG singer Henry Rollins, who is not part of the BLACK FLAG splinter group.
Ginn, who did not actually file for trademark registration for BLACK FLAG-related marks until this past June, is seeking an injunction against FLAG's current tour, which kicked off in May. He also accuses his former bandmates of "lying to the Trademark Office on registrations; using his own label's record covers to feign as though they've been continuing to use BLACK FLAG since 1979 and using bootleg SST t-shirts."
In a posting on BlackFlagOfficial.com, Ginn writes: "The dispute over BLACK FLAG is not motivated by an effort to stop anyone from covering BLACK FLAG songs. Quite to the contrary. this dispute began when Henry Garfield (Rollins) and Keith Morris made an effort to hijack the name — and the logo — for their own use. Behind everyone's back, in September 2012, Garfield and Morris filed fraudulent trademark applications in which they are claiming to own the name and the logo. Had we not taken action, this pair could have snuck these false applications through the Trademark Office, enabling them to stop BLACK FLAG from playing and gaining exclusive use of the name and logo for themselves. We are also trying to stop Morris and the others in his band from using the name and the logo in a misleading way, and from selling bootleg items."

HOUSE OF SHAKIRA's 'Pay To Play' Due Next Month
Swedish rockers HOUSE OF SHAKIRA will release their seventh studio album, "Pay To Play", on September 23 via Melodic Rock Records/Cargo Records on CD and two weeks later on October 7 via digital outlets. Copies will be available for purchase at the Melodic Rock Fest event in Chicago on September 27-29.
"Pay To Play" marks HOUSE OF SHAKIRA's second CD with lead singer Andreas Novak, and is accordingly their best album so far. The band chose a small record company in order to maintain highest priority throughout the process, instead of falling between the lines in the hands of a bigger label.
Says Novak: "Melodic Rock Records is our weapon of choice, whose enthusiasm we trust with our lives.
"I'm proud to say this is by far the best release I've ever been involved in.
"This album has been a true pleasure and walk in the park to compose, since we're immune to pressure. It's all for the love of good music. Fame and fortune should not be anybody's goal — then it becomes an obstacle instead. We just wanna play."
Adds Melodic Rock Records label CEO Andrew McNeice: "I've had the pleasure of working with Andreas over a number of yeas now as well as a long-standing friendship with the rest of the HOUSE OF SHAKIRA guys. When they came together, I pitched to them immediately. Well, I might have had to wait one album, but I've got them now!
"I'm as excited about this release as I could be. I've been going back and forth with the guys over the last few months deciding upon which songs had to make the cut and organizing the perfect sequencing so this album flows like a fine wine.
"The guys have outdone themselves and I think the songs, the passion and the energy of this record rival their classic debut."
In its 22-year history, HOUSE OF SHAKIRA has released six previous studio albums, all of which have left their mark, making the band one of Sweden's best known musical exports as well as hometown heroes. | 0

LEPROUS Parts Ways With Bassist, Announces Replacement
Norwegian progressive metallers LEPROUS have parted ways with bassist Rein Blomquist and have replaced him with Martin Skrebergene.
Says the band: "As some of you might have suspected, Rein and LEPROUS have chosen different paths for the future. Rein has been a part of LEPROUS in our two best years so far, and we are forever grateful for all the great music good times! He will play his last LEPROUS show on Brutal Assault this Saturday, so be there if you wanna wave him goodbye!
"Martin is a very talented bass player, the most beautiful bass sound and technique we've heard in a while! We want you all to give him a warm welcome, and be there when he will perform his first LEPROUS show at Le Ferrallieur in Nantes, France!"
Adds Rein: "The time has come for me to part ways with LEPROUS. I feel the need to prioritize different things in life, and as LEPROUS is a band that needs, and deserves, a high level of dedication, I decided that the best course of action was to take my leave.
"I am extremely grateful for being a part of LEPROUS for the last couple of years, for all the great memories and experiences, the ups and downs, and for being able to share them all with the rest of the guys in the band. I am confident that LEPROUS will continue on to accomplish great things, and I look forward to follow LEPROUS into the future. Thanks for the ride, guys!"
States Martin: "I'm really excited to be a part of this great band and inspiring group of people. I look forward to bringing my style and musical influences into the band, and contributing with shaping an awesome future ahead with LEPROUS."
LEPROUS' new album, "Coal", was released on May 28 in North America (May 20 in Europe) via InsideOut Music. The cover artwork for the CD was created by acclaimed American artist Jeff Jordan, who produced the artwork for the band's last album, "Bilateral", in addition to working with THE MARS VOLTA.

Poland's ARMAGEDON To Release New Album In October

THE WINERY DOGS: Video Footage Of Vintage Vinyl Acoustic Performance
THE WINERY DOGS, the power trio featuring drummer Mike Portnoy (DREAM THEATER, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, ADRENALINE MOB), legendary bassist Billy Sheehan (MR. BIG, TALAS, DAVID LEE ROTH) and guitarist/vocalist Richie Kotzen (MR. BIG, POISON), played an acoustic set on August 6 at Vintage Vinyl in Fords, New Jersey to promote the release of its self-titled debut album. Video footage of the performance can be seen below.
"The Winery Dogs" sold around 10,200 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 27 on The Billboard 200 chart. Released in North America on July 23 via Loud & Proud Records and in Japan on May 15 via Victor Entertainment, the CD was mixed by Jay Ruston, who has previously worked with ANTHRAX, ADRENALINE MOB, STONE SOUR and STEEL PANTHER. Sheehan previously stated about the effort: "I'm really pleased with it. Richie sang his ass off and played amazingly unique stuff, and, of course, Mike annihilated on drums. [It's a] really cool, unique record."
"In all of my years in this business, I've always been part of either a progressive band or a metal band," said Portnoy. "This is the first time I've been in an all-original band that's just a rock band in the vein of LED ZEPPELIN or VAN HALEN."
He added: "It's so refreshing to just play straight-ahead music with lots of twists. Obviously, the musicianship is great in this band, but it's very song-oriented."
Regarding how THE WINERY DOGS got its name, Portnoy said: "It was Richie's name. We had a list of about 50 names. I had about 10 that I preferred over THE WINERY DOGS, but you know, when you're in a band, you have to give and take and choose your battles, and Richie really, really loved this band name. So, you know, it was, like, 'OK.' A name is a name. If you feel that strongly about it, then go for it. So that's who we are."
THE WINERY DOGS will guest on the nationally syndicated radio show "Rockline" with host Bob Coburn on Wednesday, August 14 at 8:30 p.m. PT / 11:30 p.m. ET. Fans are encouraged to speak with THE WINERY DOGS by calling 1-800-344-ROCK (7625). The show will be streamed on the "Rockline" web site for two weeks beginning the afternoon after the live broadcast. | 0

Singer TONY MILLS Explains Departure From TNT
After three studio albums and extensive touring in Scandinavia, Europe and USA with Norwegian hard rockers TNT, British vocalist Tony Mills continues the journey in his own artistic direction. Tony's contractual obligations in territories like Japan and Australia, as well as different preferences in the rock world fueled the decision to part ways with the band.
"It has been a a long road since 2006 and I've been through a lot since Z Records recommended me for the job in Oslo," says Tony. "I've met a huge amount of people here; for such a small population compared to the U.K., the market for rock music is a lot bigger than I could have ever believed with grand support from the government and open doors for funding. The fan base is spread over generations and the promotional support unprecedented. The country is much bigger than it seems and we have flown so many times, I've lost count," Mills continues.
"After the passing of our beloved Dag Stokke [TNT keyboardist], and the parting with [TNT bassist] Victor Borge at the end of last year, my departing may not be altogether unexpected. But there are other contracts I need to fulfill and a different focus I have to maintain in the coming years. I wish [TNT guitarist] Ronni [Le Tekrø] and his team all the best for their future, however it may shape itself. We've had some remarkable experiences together and we've worked with some incredible characters, from Ozzy Osbourne to Trine Rein, Anita Hegerland, SKID ROW and MOTÖRHEAD, STAGE DOLLS, Morten Abel, Age Sten Nielsen and even the crown prince. Bless them all; I hope to see them a few more times before the rock 'n' roll wheel stops spinning and finally grinds to a halt. I shall be fulfilling all the previous engagements booked by the band and expected by the public, with great pleasure. And the 'Girls in Norway' are wonderful," Mills says in closing.
Mills performed with TNT in Ålesund on August 9 and at Eidsvoll August 10 and for the good feeling of all concerned, he has agreed to return from the U.K. to play his final show with TNT in Trondheim, Norway on August 23.
Mills' TNT predecessor, singer Tony Harnell, earlier in the month shot down reports of his reunion with the band as "a bit premature."
Harnell confirmed in an email to VG that he has been in contact with Diesel Dahl and Ronni Le Tekrø about a reunion. "It is true that the three of us have talked about it, but there are still details that remain to be worked out before I commit to anything," Harnell is quoted as saying. He also made it clear that he did not want to "fill in" for Mills, but instead build a completely new and separate show.
"It's best to start afresh with a solid plan and proper preparation," Harnell said. "Next year is the 25th anniversary of the release of TNT album 'Intuition', so we're talking about taking advantage of that and making it a special tour."
Harnell rejoined TNT on stage for their 30th-anniversary concert on June 2, 2012 at the Clarion Hotel in Trondheim, Norway. The group performed a special setlist while accompanied by the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra (Trondheim Symfoniorkester). Also making a special appearance with the band was TNT's original singer, Dag Ingebrigtsen.
After leaving TNT in 2006, Harnell was replaced by Mills, who has since appeared on three studio albums from the band: 2007's "The New Territory", 2008's"Atlantis" and 2010's "A Farewell To Arms".
Harnell's final release as a member of TNT was the "Live in Madrid" DVD, which came out in September 2006 via MTM Music. The set, which was filmed on April 1, 2006 in Madrid, Spain, was accompanied by an 82-minute audio CD plus booklet liner notes from Harnell about his work with the group as well as an additional tour documentary by Darren Paltrowitz. | 0
