ALESTORM - \'Back Through Time\' erster Song \'Shipwrecked\' im Stream!
 ALESTORM arbeiten seit 10. Januar 2011 mit Produzent Lasse Lammert in den LSD Studios in Lübeck in Deutschland an ihrem dritten Album mit dem Titel "Back Through Time". NINE INCH TRENT REZNOR To Play Vampire In Upcoming Film
 The Pulse Of Radio reports that NINE INCH NAILS mainman Trent Reznor, fresh off winning an Oscar for the score to "The Social Network", has lined up another film job — and this time he'll be acting as well as writing music. According to Badass Digest, Reznor will write the music for the upcoming film "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter", and will also play the role of a vampire who kills Lincoln's mother. The movie is based on a so-called "mash-up" novel by Seth Grahame Smith, in which the secret history of Lincoln's lifelong battle against vampires is revealed.
The film will be directed by Timur Bekmambetov, who also directed "Wanted" with Angelina Jolie.
Reznor and collaborator Atticus Ross, who worked with him on "The Social Network" score, are also writing the music for "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo", due out in December from "The Social Network" director David Fincher.

New SEPULTURA Album Title Revealed
 Brazilian/American thrashers SEPULTURA have set "Kairos" (an ancient Greek word signifying a time in between, a moment of undetermined period of time in which something special happens) as the title of their new album, tentatively due late spring/early summer via Nuclear Blast Records.
Speaking exclusively to BLABBERMOUTH.NET, SEPULTURA guitarist and main songwriter Andreas Kisser said, "The whole theme of the album is the concept of the time, and the title reflects that — it's like one concept of time which is not chronological, from one to two; it's like a an instant in time, it's a special time of change..."
He added, "Everyone's life is written by [their] choices — you have many 'kairos' moments, like if you go [from] point A [to point] B [to point] C, you are driven by your choices or your guidance; you have to go either one way or the other. And that's the kind of time we talked about — not about aging or getting old or going back [in time]; it's just [about those important] moments that can change everything. Like Martin Luther King's speech in Washington D.C. that day, it was a 'kairos' moment that changed the world, pretty much, the direction that we talked about certain things and the way we lived our lives, etc. And in that respect that's what we thought about [in regards to] SEPULTURA itself — 26 years of history and the moment where we are now; why we're here; why we're doing this album and why we have what we have; the changes we have inside and outside the band. It's a collection of 'kairos' [moments] that [got us] here. It's being inspired by our own biography, but mostly [focusing] on what SEPULTURA is today. It's the opposite of [nostalgia] — it's living the moment. Nostalgia is being in the past, trying to relive stuff, and we're not doing that; we're doing something new today."
The artwork for "Kairos" is being created by Erich Sayers, a Los Angeles-based freelance digital artist and photographer whom SEPULTURA first met by chance at the band's January 14 concert at the House Of Blues in West Hollywood, California.

ZEROZONIC: \'Fake\' Video Released
 "Fake", the new video from the Norwegian groove metal band ZEROZONIC, can be viewed below. The song comes off the group's new album, "God Damn, Better, Best", which will be released on March 11 via Mayhem Music. The CD was previously made available in December 2010 through Ozo Records with limited distribution.
Formed in 2004, ZEROZONIC features in its ranks Daniel "Peisy" Olaisen, who played with SATYRICON as a session/touring guitarist between 1996 and 1999 and is still a member of the Norwegian death metal band BLOOD RED THRONE. Singer Leo Morachiolli (LOWDOWN) joined the group early on, with drummer Jon Eirik "Elt" Bokn (DEAD TROOPER) and Martin Berger (bass) rounding out the band's current lineup.
According to a press release, ZEROZONIC 's music is "as groovy as it gets and bands like PANTERA, CHIMAIRA and METALLICA have been inspirators. What makes ZEROZONIC different is definitely the singer. He brings the most crazy sounds and creativity to the songs!"

METALLICA\'s Former Producer: We Knew \'Master Of Puppets\' Was Gonna Be A Killer Album
 Record producer Flemming Rasmussen, who collaborated with METALLICA on three of their albums in the 1980s, was recently interviewed by Mike Meyer of Phoenix New Times regarding the 25th anniversary of the release of the band's iconic "Master Of Puppets" LP. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.
Phoenix New Times: "Master of Puppets" is widely regarded as one of the best heavy metal albums of all time. Did you know you were onto something special when you were working on it 25 years ago?
Flemming Rasmussen: Oh, yes. Right from the demos, we pretty much knew this was gonna be a killer album. I think we all felt that this was gonna be the best METALLICA album yet, as we had a bunch of really strong songs. Even the instrumentals were awesome.
Phoenix New Times: "Puppets" was the last album to feature the late Cliff Burton on bass. Were you very close to him? How did his death affect you? Was it any different working on "...And Justice for All" after Jason Newsted had joined the band?
Flemming Rasmussen: No, I wouldn't say I was close to Cliff, as he was spending the least amount of time in the studio, but it affected me greatly when he died. He was surely one of a kind, and even though Jason is a great bass player, it was impossible to fill out Cliff's shoes. Jason is a bass player in his own right, and never got the recognition he deserved.
Phoenix New Times: You produced three consecutive METALLICA albums — "Ride The Lightning", "Puppets" and "Justice" — but they have three distinctly different sounds. Was that a conscious decision by you and the band?
Flemming Rasmussen: Yes. The difference between "Ride" and "Master" is evolution, as "Master" is a perfection of the sound we started to evolve on "Ride". And in my opinion, we did really master it on "Master". That album sounds so good. When I got onto the "Justice" album, they were a month into the session, and it was a new studio, etc., so we decided on a more up-front and dry sound. As for the mix, they had already hired someone else to do this, so I had no say in that. But it's still a classic metal album, and the sound has inspired a whole new generation of metal bands.

MIDNATTSOL Recruits New Touring Guitarist
 MIDNATTSOL — the German-Norwegian band featuring vocalist Carmen Elise Espenaes (the younger sister of LEAVES' EYES singer Liv Kristine) — has recruited a new touring guitarist following the recent departure of Daniel Droste. The group states, "The MIDNATTSOL tour lineup is complete. Thanks a lot to all of applicants for your great effort and patience. Especially one of the applicants caught our attention, and we soon found out that we were a great match. He is now rehearsing with us during a trial period. That means that you have the possibility to see a complete band on our release tour with LEAVES' EYES in April."
Droste left MIDNATTSOL in order to concentrate on his other band, AHAB. KRAKOW Parts Ways With Drummer
 Norwegian stoner metal band KRAKOW has parted ways with drummer Christopher Swahn Zibell due to "musical differences." Christopher will now focus on his other project VITHR (which also features KRAKOW bassist/vocalist Frode Kilvik).
Commented KRAKOW: "We had some great years with Christopher and wish him all the best in the future."
As a result of Christopher's departure, KRAKOW has canceled its appearance at the U.K.'s Hammerfest.
KRAKOW will enter the studio in April to begin recording its second album for a late 2011 release. The band states, "This is just a new chapter, and we are more hungry than ever!"

SOUNDGARDEN Guitarist Guests On A STORM OF LIGHT Album
 A STORM OF LIGHT's new album, "As The Valley of Death Becomes Us, Our Silver Memories Fade", will be released on May 17 via Profound Lore Records. The CD was co-produced by Graham Joel Hamilton (who lends keyboards to the record as well) and features several guests that are sure to have the metal world talking. SOUNDGARDEN guitarist Kim Thayil appears on two tracks, as does Jarboe (SWANS). There are also appearances from Carla Kihlstedt (SLEEPYTIME GORILLA MUSEUM), Kris Force (AMBER ASYLUM), Matthias Bossi (SLEEPYTIME GORILLA MUSEUM, SKELETON KEY) and longtime collaborator Nerissa Campbell.

ESSENCE Taps Producer PETER TÄGTGREN For Next Album
 Danish thrashers ESSENCE will enter Abyss studios in Pärlby, outside Ludvika, Sweden on February 13, 2012 with producer Peter Tägtgren (HYPOCRISY, PAIN) to begin recording their sophomore album. The CD will be mastered at Black Lounge Studio by SCAR SYMMETRY guitarist Jonas Kjellgren.
Commented ESSENCE: "We feel incredibly honored and grateful that Peter will produce our next album. He has influenced European metal in a way rarely seen through his work as producer and especially through his music in PAIN and HYPOCRISY. We believe that he has made some of the best metal and best productions the metal community has heard, and therefore we are very glad that he wants to work with us."
The band continued, "With the recordings in 2012 we will start a new, challenging and different chapter in ESSENCE's musical universe.
"It is important to us that our music is evolving and changing in a healthy way. Music should grow with the band and evolve alongside with the natural development which the band members go through. To accommodate this development, and in relation to our future plans in the longer term, Peter and his abilities the perfect choice for us. "
"Blood Culture", the latest video from ESSENCE, can be viewed below. The song comes off the band's debut album, "Lost In Violence", which was released on February 25 via Belgium's Ultimhate Records. The CD was recorded at Medley Studios (ARTILLERY, PRINCE, RADIOHEAD, MARY J. BLIGE, KELLY CLARKSON, THE CARDIGANS) in Copenhagen and was produced and mixed by Soren Andersen (Glenn Hughes, Dave Mustaine, Mike Tramp). The mastering duties were handled by Nikolaj Vinten at Vinten Mastering (COLDPLAY, D-A-D, DIZZY MIZZ LIZZY). KILLING MACHINE Announces New Lineup, Begins Work On Next Album - Mar. 2, 2011
 U.S. metal heavyweights KILLING MACHINE are set to make their return after a break with a new CD . The group's current lineup includes founding member and guitarist Peter Scheithauer (ex-TEMPLE OF BRUTALITY, BELLADONNA) alongside James Rivera (HELSTAR, VICIOUS RUMORS) on vocals, Jochen Mayer (CASANOVA, DOMAIN) on bass, Juan Garcia (AGENT STEEL) and Jon Dette (ex-SLAYER, TESTAMENT) on drums.
Talking about the break that followed the summer 2010 shows with AC/DC and appearances at such festivals as Germany's Wacken Open Air and Belgium's Graspop Metal Meeting, Scheithauer said, "I am really excited about the real lineup being together again. We sometime trust people and make mistakes but at the end music talks. People can claim what they want, but this is KILLING MACHINE and we are the one making the new CD and getting ready to tour."
He continued, "We are also proud to announce our new management deal with CMC in Germany. We finally found a team that understand our needs and also are able to get us forward. The label will be announced soon.
"I've been working constantly on the album and you always think that the new CD is the best it can be, but when a major producer feels the same way, you tend to think you are on the right track."

RATT Singer Says Band \'Will Not Be Active In 2011, Maybe Longer\'
 RATT singer Stephen Pearcy says that the band will remain inactive for the remainder of 2011 while he pursues other projects, including the release of a new solo album. Writing on his Twitter profile, Pearcy says, "RATT with me involved will not be active [in] 2011, maybe longer. No new record, tour, or life with me until things are back on track! Until then, M.I.A.
"RATT is in a trap, this rat is ready to roll! This should be the victory lap, but not for some. For me, strictly business!"
In addition to his solo work, Pearcy is focusing on running his record label, Top Fuel Records, as well as launching BATTERING RAMM, a group in which he plays guitar and whose music he has described as "way more aggressive than anything I've done in the past."
Pearcy recently recorded a new version of RATT's '80s hit "Wanted Man" for "Big John's Rock N Lock", the new show featuring world-famous rock and roll bodyguard "Big" John Murray, celebrity reality star of VH1's "Rock Of Love".

BEARDFISH - neuer Song \'The Platform\' im Stream!
 Es gibt eine Welt abseits üblicher Radio- oder MTV-Formate; ein Universum, in der die Musik auch ohne übertrieben-visuelle Inszenierung mühelos farbenfrohe Bilder erzeugt und den Hörer aufgrund ihrer packenden Struktur in den Bann zieht. SEPTICFLESH To Perform With All Original Members At France\'s CHAULNES METAL FEST
 Greek demons SEPTICFLESH will headline the Chaulnes Metal Fest in France on April 23. According to the group, "this show will be very special as all original members of the band will be on stage. That means that Sotiris Anunnaki V. (guitar, melodic vocals) will play in France for the first time in 12 years! The man's live appearances are very rare due to obligations in Greece and this will be one of the few exceptions to the rule. Be there for an exquisite mass."

CHIMAIRA Gets \'Wild\' For CHARLIE SHEEN
 Cleveland, Ohio metallers CHIMAIRA have uploaded their cover version of THE TROGGS' hit song "Wild Thing" as a tribute to actor Charlie Sheen. Check it out in the YouTube clip below.
Sheen's iconic Rick "Wild Thing" Vaughn character was featured in "Major League", the 1989 American satire comedy film written and directed by David S. Ward.

BECOMING THE ARCHETYPE: Another New Song Available For Streaming
 "Cardiac Rebellion", a brand new song from Atlanta, Georgia-based metallers BECOMING THE ARCHETYPE, is available for streaming by "liking" the band's Facebook page. The track comes off the group's fourth album, "Celestial Completion", which will be released on March 29 via Solid State Records. The CD was produced by Matt Goldman (UNDEROATH, THE CHARIOT, COPELAND) and contains 11 tracks.
