ALEX SKOLNICK TRIO To Release \'Veritas\'; Audio Samples Available
 The ALEX SKOLNICK TRIO returns with its fourth album, "Veritas", on March 29. "Veritas" (Latin for"Truth") is AST's first release on innovative jazz label Palmetto Records. The 11-track album contains nine original compositions, a cover of METALLICA's "Fade To Black" and a bonus remix of the song "Bollywood Jam" by Jay Sustain and Nik Chinboukas. The record was produced by Alex Skolnick and recorded at Spin Recording Studios in Long Island City, New York.

AC/DC To Release New Concert DVD In May
 According to ACDCZone.com and Amazon.com, AC/DC will release a new concert DVD, tentatively titled "Live At River Plate", documenting the band's massive "Black Ice" world tour. Shot with 32 cameras entirely in HD in December of 2009, the set marks AC/DC's triumphant return to Buenos Aires where nearly 200,000 fans, and three sold-out shows in December 2009, welcomed the band back after a 13-year absence from Argentina. This stunning live footage of AC/DC underscores what Argentina's Pagina 12 newspaper reported by saying "no one is on the same level when it comes to pure and clear rock and roll." Additionally, the DVD contains a bonus feature titled "The Fan, The Roadie, The Guitar Tech & The Meat", featuring interviews with AC/DC, their crew and fans among the excitement of the creation of the concerts and the city of Buenos Aires.

According to OnSight.co.uk, after workflow planning for the three-day, 20-camera shoot, it was up to On Sight to make sure everything went smoothly. Axis Films took care of all HD cameras (including 15 REDs) as well as the production equipment. Axis Films also supplied DITs to manage all of the digital rushes produced during the three sold-out shows.
The seamless production was completed by the HD Lab who provided conform, online, mastering and deliverable services for Serpent Productions, who regularly work with some of the world's best-known artists.
AC/DC singer Brian Johnson said in a recent interview that the band has no immediate plans following the set's release, explaining, "We just want to have a rest, because we were on the road for two years. We played in front of five million people, and we deserve a rest."
Footage from AC/DC's Buenos Aires concerts was previously used in the video for the band's classic album cut "Shoot To Thrill", which served as the first single from AC/DC's "Iron Man 2" soundtrack (featuring catalog material from the mid-1970s onwards). The video also incorporated exclusive footage from "Iron Man 2".

Former ANTHRAX Singer DAN NELSON Launches FAREWELL TO WASHINGTON
 Former ANTHRAX singer Dan Nelson has joined forces with Dan "Shaggy" Hoffman and Joe Post in a brand new Levittown, New York-based "rock / blues / punk / metal / hardcore / fun" band called FAREWELL TO WASHINGTON. According to Nelson, the group will enter "our junkie little studio a.k.a. 'Potato Junction,'" next week to record its first demo.
When asked in a brand new interview with Dose Of Metal what fans can expect from FAREWELL TO WASHINGTON, Nelson said, "People should expect very little from us, as we expect even less from each other."

SEBASTIAN BACH: Drum Tracking For 13 Songs To Begin On Monday
 Former SKID ROW singer Sebastian Bach recently entered a Los Angeles studio with his new, young, virtuosic guitarist Nick Sterling and producer Bob Marlette (BLACK SABBATH, SHINEDOWN, ATREYU, FILTER) to fine-tune the material that will appear on Bach's next CD, tentatively due this summer via the Italian label Frontiers Records.
In a March 5 posting on his Facebook page, Bach writes. "What a great day! We finished pre-production today and are set to start tracking drums for 13 songs on Monday night after I film [a guest appearance on VH1 Classic's] 'That Metal Show'. All songs are done and I could not be happier at this stage. Bobby [Jarzombek, drums] is such a pro I can't wait to watch him wail on the kit all this week!!"
Sebastian previously described his new solo material as "heavy, interesting, classic sounding, modern sounding, completely rock 'n' roll — just how we like it!"
Sebastian in 2009 collaborated with HATEBREED frontman Jamey Jasta on several tracks for Bach's new solo album, with Nick and Charlie Bellmore of the Connecticut band PHANTOMS assisting during the pre-production process. ANGELI DI PIETRA To Release New Album In May
 Belgian "powerfolk" metallers ANGELI DI PIETRA will release their second album, "Anthems Of Conquest", on May 13 via CCP Records. The CD was recorded and mixed at Excess Studios in Rotterdam, Holland and mastered at Hansen studios in Ribe, Denmark.

ROUGH SILK Seeking New Record Deal, New Album Delayed
 Due to "business-related reasons," "The Good, The Bad & The Undead", the eighth studio album from German epic/melodic metallers ROUGH SILK, will not be released this month via Icewarrior/Rock It Up Records. The band states on its web site, "We are looking for a new deal at the moment." The group adds, "We are really happy with the album and hope you will like it, too. Because we always tried and will always try to avoid clichés and write songs that are not so easy to categorize it may take some time — but we're pretty sure we'll get it out later this year."

THE HAUNTED Frontman\'s \'Just \'Cause You Can Talk\' EP Being Re-Released
 Suicide Records will re-release THE HAUNTED frontman Peter Dolving's "Just 'Cause You Can Talk, Don't Mean I Have To Listen" in March on March 21.
According to a press release, the EP went mostly unnoticed when it was originally made available in 2000, with most fans not understanding it due to the fact that they believed Dolving to be just a "metalhead."
It's not easy finding references with someone like Peter Dolving. But certainly the willful artistic move to step out of pre-conceived images and break free from whatever box he felt he was being placed in put him where words and music are the key, not image and sway.

MORBID ANGEL Performs Live With Drummer TIM YEUNG For First Time
 Floridian death metal veterans MORBID ANGEL made their live debut with the band's new drummer Tim Yeung (DIVINE HERESY, ALL THAT REMAINS, NILE, HATE ETERNAL, VITAL REMAINS) this past Saturday (March 5) at the Scion Rock Fest in Pomona, California.
Fan-filmed video footage of MORBID ANGEL performing a new song, "Nevermore", at the Scion Rock Fest can be viewed below.
MORBID ANGEL entered Mana Recording Studios in St. Petersburg, Florida in June 2010 with engineer Erik Rutan (former MORBID ANGEL guitarist and producer for such bands as CANNIBAL CORPSE and GOATWHORE) to begin recording the band's ninth full-length album. Due in early 2011 via Season Of Mist, the new CD will be the band's first to be recorded without longtime drummer Pedro "Pete" Sandoval, who last year underwent back surgery for a deteriorating disc problem.

HYDROGYN Guitarist Launches URA-KIA
 HYDROGYN guitarist Jeff Westlake has joined forces with Jeff Boggs, Keith Ramsey and Matt Scheen in a new project called URA-KIA. The band has been holed up in the studio for the past 10 days and is nearly done recording its self-titled debut album for a late spring release. Former ATHEIST/CYNIC Bassist Launches SYNKRONIZITY
 SYNKRONIZITY, the new project led by former ATHEIST/CYNIC bassist Tony Choy, has completed work on its debut album for a May release. The cover artwork for the CD is being created by Eliran Kantor, who has previously worked with ATHEIST, TESTAMENT, SIGH, ANACRUSIS and GWAR, among others.
Commented Choy: "This project reflects how I have always wanted to express myself in metal combining fusion, death metal jazz to pop, but keeping it to true to the 'South Florida' death metal legacy and show the world what Tony Choy is capable of."
He added, "The album has plenty of twists and turns to keep you musically on your toes."

Accident Sends NIGHTWISH Singer Anette Olzon To Emergency Room
 NIGHTWISH singer Anette Olzon has posted the following update:
"Yesterday was a really bad day for me...
I sat with Nemo in my lap at our dinner table and was gonna stand up and go to the couch and hand him over to Johan.
When I stand up, one of Nemo's toys are lying on the floor and I don't look down but just start to walk and whip! I slide on this wooden toy box and fall with my legs straight up and my whole body hits the floor so hard. To keep Nemo safe I hold him up and try to take the fall all by myself. When I fall down I fall on this wooden toy box straight on the side on my ribs. I loose all air and the pain and the sound when I hit the box was horrible. I screamed for so long and it was the worst pain ever felt.
Nemo luckily just scratched his head against our couch so he got a burn-mark and he held his head up so great that it never fell down hard. His back and legs and himself were just fine.
I took painkillers and tried to function normally but the pain got bigger and bigger and I got a fever so after 2.5 hours I called to the Emergency who told me to get in there.
And already when the doctor saw my ribs she knew it was broken. There´s nothing to do to broken ribs, just painkillers and resting.
So now I am lying here with strong pills and can't do anything. Life surely sucks at this time. Pain is horrible and I just hope I soon can get better from that.
A strange thing is that my Mum fell badly 3 days ago so we said there must be some kinda "bad star" over us this week.
Lots of thanks and hugs to you all that has written your stories to me in Reflections. I´ll write more about what you all have said when I feel a little bit better. But I must say that the stories have touched me and its hard to understand that so many people can be so incredibly mean to others. And even family members! We need to talk more about this for sure!

NIGHTWISH singer Anette Olzon has posted the following update:
"Good morning and thanks for all of your getting better comments. That make my healing go so much easier, seeing all of you caring for me. Lots of love to you all for that!
Well, I still have lots of pain but as long as I lie down as still as I can and take pain killers all is ok. Cant take deap breaths, laugh or cough. I cant turn around and will probably not be able to lie on the left side for many weeks. But taking it easy and not moving is the best at the moment.
And yeah, I have to stay at home and not go to Finland tomorrow, but I will go as soon as I can. I hope for Wednesday but I will have to see if I can sit for a long time, sing etc. But we have booked the studio for 3.5 weeks so I have time and Tuomas (Holopainen) and Marco (Hietala) will do some vocals and Tuomas some keyboards so time still is used to do the album ready.
The most annoying thing now is that the sun is shining outside, clear blue sky and I feel restless already. My workouts and exercising results the past 7 weeks will just be in vain cause now the muscles I got fade away again. And I just get so frustrated lying here, not being able to do anything.
Luckily, Johan is at home helping me and mum was here yesterday helping me. So Nemo has lots of attention still."

The largest and oldest Norwegian music awards show was held last night (Saturday, March 5) at the Spektrum in Oslo, Norway and was broadcast live on the Norwegian channel TV2.

WYKKED WYTCH Putting Finishing Touches On New Album
 Florida extreme metallers WYKKED WYTCH are putting the finishing touches on their fifth album, "Serpents Among Us" (formerly "Prayers Of The Decapitated"), for an early summer release. According to a press release, "new guitarist and songwriter Nate Poulson has put together nine really killer bad-ass tunes which are heavy, technical and melodic. This, mixed with over-the-top vocal performance of frontwoman Ipek and drums performed by Kevin Talley (DAATH, SIX FEET UNDER, CHIMAIRA), promises to be an awesome release. Kevin was hired for the album and all the drums have been tracked and completed."
Later this month, WYKKED WYTCH will enter Lambesis Studios in San Diego, California with engineer Daniel Castleman (AS I LAY DYING, WINDS OF PLAGUE) at the helm.
WYKKED WYTCH last year welcomed back drummer Steve Brubaker. He previously toured with WYKKED WYTCH and performed on the 2004 album "Nefret".
WYKKED WYTCH frontwoman Ipek last May launched her weekly radio show. The program airs every Thursday from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. EST at this location.
WYKKED WYTCH's fourth album, "Memories of a Dying Whore", was released through the band's own label Perish Music.

ULVER: New Album Details Revealed
 Kscope has announced that ULVER are the latest band to join their roster. Early pioneers of Norwegian black metal, the band have continually evolved throughout their career and now stand as living legends of the dark music industry.
The last two years have also seen ULVER manifest into a live band. Following their first live performance in May 2009, at the Norwegian Festival of Literature, the band toured Europe in 2010, selling out prestigious venues such as the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, Volksbühne in Berlin and Casa da Música in Porto, to great acclaim.
2010 culminated in a packed performance in the main theatre of the Norwegian National Opera. ULVER were the first band outside the established Norwegian music scene to be invited to play at the opera house and a DVD of this landmark performance will be released on Kscope later this year.
Such an invitation is quite an accomplishment for a band that has always remained uncompromisingly independent, operating without marketing, advertising or any backing from a label (except their own imprint, Jester Records). Despite this stance the band are revered around the world, have sold in excess of half a million records, have well over 11,000,000 plays on Last FM and the interest does not seem to be fading; indeed the band are now preparing to add another bookmark to their chameleonic legacy.
A bigger label, management, touring — all this is new and unchartered territory for the band, and one in which they are not necessarily savoir-faire. During the last two years they have shifted from the safety zone of the studio towards a more traditional route, facing the music rather than hiding in the shadows. Everything can happen, and has. The new album, "Wars Of The Roses", clearly reflects this.
With a long-standing reputation for being unpredictable and unafraid of radical departures, the most subversive aspect this time is perhaps the band's increased accessibility; even touching on the polished sensibilities of pop and rock. The opening track, "February MMX" (audio stream available below), is a striking example.
But naturally with ULVER comes ambivalence. Fringe figures appear: horror connoisseur Stephen Thrower of COIL and CYCLOBE, experimental guitar-guru Stian Westerhus along with British free improvisation legends Steve Noble and Alex Ward. They all play important parts on the album, their instant instincts perfectly aligned with ULVER's composed compassion. The familiar baroque menagerie of piano, wood and wind sit alongside the machines and the ghosts within.
The album ends with "Stone Angels", a long and winding dreamland narrated by Daniel O'Sullivan (who became a core member of the group in 2009). The text is written by acclaimed American poet and translator Keith Waldrop, an acquaintance of Jørn H. Sværen, the author in the band. It is, quite frankly, beautiful.
Thematically, the same is at stake as always with ULVER: the human condition and a world in fall. But this time the landscape is viewed from a bird's eye perspective, exposing culture and tradition rather than the personal vulnerability expressed on previous albums. In the words of Julian Cope: "ULVER are cataloguing the death of our culture two decades before anyone else has noticed its inevitable demise."
"Wars Of The Roses" was mixed by producer extraordinaire John Fryer (DEPECHE MODE, COCTEAU TWINS, SWANS), following a chance meeting outside Crystal Canyon studios during the latter stages of recording. Sounds like fate.

SLAYER Returns To Live Stage In Melbourne; Video Available
 SLAYER returned to the live stage earlier tonight (Friday, March 4) at the Melbourne stop of Australia's Soundwave traveling festival less than a week after the band's frontman Tom Araya was hospitalized because he was suffering from what his wife said was "vertigo due to extreme dehydration and lack of rest."

NIGHTWISH Issues Update On \'Imaginarium\' Movie Project
 Holed up in the studio for the better part of this spring, Finnish/Swedish symphonic metallers NIGHTWISH are not only putting finishing touches to their new album, "Imaginarium", but also planning a movie of the same name. If all goes well, the CD will be released in early 2012, to be followed by the movie at some point further down the line. The first single off the album as well as the trailer for the film should arrive well before the end of 2011.
For the movie, NIGHTWISH has teamed up with director Stober Harju's production team and Solar Films.
The following update on the project has been posted on the band's official web site:
"After about five hundred post-it notes, two hundred written pages, hundreds of reference pictures, five hundred storyboard pictures, millions of bloody tears, mixed feelings of joy, extensive courting, happy coincidences, and more than two and a half years of planning, it's time to report about the progress of the 'Imaginarium' movie.
"The pre-production of 'Imaginarium' is already in full swing. Pretty much everything revolves around the script, which is currently being finalized. This is the phase when the dialogue is honed to perfection and dramaturges offer critical feedback of the plot.
"Pre-production is also the stage when various artists, led by the director, commence work on the sets, props, costumes, and make-up. Concept art is drawn, and both the director and the director of photography discuss the cinematography and the mode of story-telling with the help of the storyboard.
"Unfortunately, pre-production is also a time of rejection, when many original visions have to give way for harsh reality. This is not bad as it seems, however. The story usually crystallizes at this point, and many ideas that originally felt so great reveal themselves to be essentially superfluous. And that's a good thing.
"Pre-production usually lasts several weeks, and coordinating the shooting schedule and especially building the sets, sewing the costumes and preparing the SFX can take months. So writing this a week from now would still be topical.
"Each time we've listened to the 'Imaginarium' demo, it has not failed to cause satisfied laughter, emotion-filled tears, or strong shivers in us. We hope that when the time comes, you'll share those same feelings when watching 'Imaginarium' on the silver screen or from the comfort of your sofa.
"We bid you welcome to follow these waypoints on the road to 'Imaginarium'.
"Enter 2012."
