JOURNEY: Performance Footage Of Five New Songs Available
 American rockers JOURNEY debuted five news songs from their forthcoming album, "Eclipse", on February 23, 2011 at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in las Vegas, Nevada. Fan-filmed video footage of the tracks "Edge Of The Moment", "Resonate", "Chain Of Love", "City Of Hope" and "Human Feel" can be viewed below.
"Eclipse" will be released on May 24. In North America, the album will be available exclusively at Walmart while Frontiers Records will release the CD in the rest of the world. The 12 tracks were written over the past 18 months by the core team of guitarist Neal Schon and keyboard player Jonathan Cain, with collaboration from singer Arnel Pineda.
In a recent interview with Boomerocity.com, Cain stated about "Eclipse", "It's very guitar-driven. This album has very little of me, keyboard-wise. Neal wanted to do a heavier rock album. So, this is kind of his baby. I wrote the lyrics on the thing and lots of the melodies that sit above the guitars. So, then I had to find some place to play in the nooks and crannies."
He continued, "It's a very hard-hitting record that has some conscience to it. It's about lots of things — spirituality, sexuality. There's a song called 'Tantra' on it about tantric circles. I was fascinated with all of that. It's definitely a departure from what we've done before. It's more like a concept record. I think Arnel shines. He sounds great. It's probably one of Neal's best guitar albums. I think he's on a mission on this album — to play, and he did." | 0 | |

INSOMNIUM To Enter Studio In April
 Finnish melodic death metallers INSOMNIUM have issued the following update:
"The fifth INSOMNIUM studio album is beginning to take shape. We had a three-day training and songwriting session last week and we can now say that we have about eight songs more or less ready. We are entering the studio in April so we should have enough time to finish everything. Some observers commented that the material sounds surprisingly ready taken that this was only the second training session for the new album. We also had a promo shoot with the legendary photographer Stefan de Batselier who has previously worked with some small American names like JOHNNY CASH and METALLICA. Big thanks to Stefan for a nice afternoon! Also thanks to Jussi Ratilainen who is documenting the whole process!"

VINNY APPICE And REX BROWN Join Forces In KILL DEVIL HILL; First Photo Available
 The first photo of KILL DEVIL HILL, the new band featuring Vinny Appice (HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, DIO) on drums, Rex Brown (DOWN, PANTERA) on bass, Mark Zavon (RATT, W.A.S.P., 40 CYCLE HUM) on guitar and Dewey Bragg on vocals, can be viewed below. The group has demoed around 10 songs, which, according to Appice, sound "like a cross between BLACK SABBATH, ALICE IN CHAINS and a little bit of LED ZEPPELIN thrown in. It's heavy, but with a lot of cool hooks and melodic overtones, too."

The surviving HEAVEN & HELL members Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice played a very special tribute to their fallen bandmate, Ronnie James Dio, on July 24, 2010 at the High Voltage festival at Victoria Park in London, England. The musicians were joined by legendary former DEEP PURPLE and BLACK SABBATH man Glenn Hughes and Norwegian vocalist Jorn Lande, who sings for power metallers MASTERPLAN and released his own tribute to Ronnie.
Rex Brown last month amicably left ARMS OF THE SUN — the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas-based band featuring Lance Harvill on vocals and guitar, and Ben Bunker (GRYN) on guitar and John Luke Hébert on drums. A replacement bassist has not yet been announced. | 0 | |

Former XANDRIA Singer KERSTIN BISCHOF Working On Solo Album
 Former XANDRIA frontwoman Kerstin Bischof is working on a solo album with her boyfriend, former AXXIS guitarist Guido Wehmeyer. She tells SonicCathedral.com, "The name of the album is not set yet . . . We are currently working on the final mastering of the songs, and we also plan to feature further artists. But unfortunately, I cannot tell you any further names today. Basically, the songs are going to be songs that I always wanted to write for my fans. In the past, I did a couple of things, which I really enjoyed musically, but I felt were not the music I wanted to share with my friends and fans. So I decided to release a solo album incorporating songs that are really from the heart and that I'd really like to share on a personal level.
Regarding the CD's musical direction, Kerstin says, "[It will be] very diverse. I think you will hear everything you ever wanted to hear from me. Every kind of facet, every side, everything a woman could do with her voice... I mean, I don't just want to limit myself to classical singing, although that is what I started with. But I love to experiment with the voice, I love to express emotions. And emotions are not always nice, so I don't always want to sing the nice way or the technically nice way. So I include, of course, a bit of grunts and distorted voices. Also, very smooth and soft voices… a bit of everything, I hope."
Bischof's forthcoming solo album will feature art and photography by another former XANDRIA singer, Lisa Middelhauve, who will also perform with Kerstin during live shows in support of the CD. Kerstin tells SonicCathedral.com, "[Lisa] has the creative hand over this process, over the photography, over the visual images." She adds, "We are going to do a little brainstorming — a listening session with all the songs to figure out the styling — and Lisa will be responsible for that. I LOVE the way she does styling, and her ideas are great!"

CRUACHAN Frontman \'Savagely Attacked\' In Dublin
 At 3 a.m. Sunday morning, February 20, Keith Fay, frontman of the Irish folk metal band CRUACHAN, was "savagely attacked" by a large gang of males in Dublin.
Here is what Fay had to say about he calls a horrible and unprovoked attack:
"While leaving a nightclub with my brother, sister and a friend, a gang of about 15 men in their early 20s began to verbally abuse my sister and my friend. I shouted back at one of them telling him that is my sister and to leave her alone. I was then hit over the head with an iron bar and knocked unconscious. They all started kicking me while I was on the ground. My sister was thrown to the ground also and had her arm broken. When I came to, they had run off. The whole thing only lasted a minute or two. This was on Dame Street in Dublin city centre, a very crowded area at that time of night. A lot of bystanders came to help also which scared the scumbags off. I was stabbed in the face, had my ribs broken and bruised all over."

It\'s Official! Former/Present Members Of BLACK SABBATH, HAMMERFALL, KING DIAMOND, VENOM Launch Supergroup
 former BLACK SABBATH singer Tony Martin, ex-HAMMERFALL bassist Magnus Rosén and KING DIAMOND guitarist Andy LaRocque have launched an all-star project that also features drummer Danny Needham (VENOM).
The as-yet-unnamed four-piece are currently writing material at LaRocque's Sonic Train Studios in Varberg, Sweden and in England.
The foursome stress: "This all-star band is not a project! It's a band!"
Check out a photo below of Rosén, Martin and LaRocque in Sweden in late February. Martin held two workshops in Göteborg and Falköping, Sweden at Rosén's Musikstationen and Musikskolan respectively. According to Rosén, "Tony Martin was a hit with his tales from the ten years he played with Black Sabbath. He also talked about his way of singing, plus even had a little live performance."

THE STORYTELLER Reform; At Least 70 People Are Thrilled
 Reformed Swedish power metallers THE STORYTELLER played their first comeback concert on February 25 at Club Wasteland in Gävle, Sweden.
"THE STORYTELLER is back, and we're sure all 70 of our fans will be thrilled," says guitarist Fredrik Groth, as a reference to a comment that was left to the May 31, 2006 news post about the band going on hiatus. "We're not really sure where we're going with this, but there's a pretty good chance there will be a new album."
THE STORYTELLER's current lineup is basically the same as before, except that bass player Johan Sohlberg has been replaced by Marcus Backlund.

Video Of Kids Singing IRON MAIDEN Classic Becomes YouTube Hit
 According to Metro.co.uk, a video clip of children from Wattville primary school in Birmingham, England singing IRON MAIDEN's 1983 classic "Flight Of Icarus" has become one of the most shared videos on YouTube this week. The four-minute clip shows the children singing the song while headbanging and later engaging in a bit of classic air guitar. Some of the children even have fake plastic guitars with them as the chant they way through the tune.
The video, which can be seen below, was uploaded on YouTube on Tuesday and has already been watched by over 20,000 people and "liked" 355 times.

HELL - \'Human Remains\' Track List & Artwork enthüllt!
 Der neueste Familienzuwachs im Hause Nuclear Blast hört auf den Namen HELL und steht für Hardrock aus Großbritannien mit Legendenstatus! 1982 gingen sie aus der Asche von RACE AGAINST TIME und PARALEX hervor, deren “White Lightning“-EP von METALLICA als eine ihrer Lieblingsscheiben angegeben wird! Trotz konstantem Touren wurde die Band seinerzeit von der Presse sträflich ignoriert da HELL einfach zu anders, zu extrem und ihrer Zeit zu weit voraus waren.
Der größte Schlag jedoch war der tragische Selbstmord von Sänger / Gitarrist Dave Halliday 1987. Die verbliebenen Bandmitglieder beschlossen, das Kapitel HELL zu beenden. Produzenten- und Musikerlegende Andy Sneap war früher bei jeder HELL-Show an vorderster Front mit dabei, und kein geringerer als Dave Halliday hatte ihm das Gitarrespielen beigebracht. Anschließend startete er SABBAT und machte sich einen Namen als Produzent. Bei einem erneuten Treffen mit den verbliebenen HELL-Musikern Kev Bower (Gitarre, Keyboards), Tony Speakman (Bass) und Tim Bowler (Drums) sprach man über Neuaufnahmen alten Materials, um es zusammen mit alten Demos zu veröffentlichen. Andy Sneap ersetzte Dave Halliday an der Gitarre, und David Bower sprang als Sänger ein, um 10 HELL-Klassikern aus den 80er Jahren neues Leben einzuhauchen. Das Resultat hört auf den Namen "Human Remains" und wird am Freitag, den 13. Mai diesen Jahres bei Nuclear Blast erscheinen! Das Vermächtnis von HELL erlebt eine Wiedergeburt – pur und unverfälscht!

BLOOD MORTIZED Adds Second Guitarist, Prepares To Record New Album
 BLOOD MORTIZED — the Swedish death metal band featuring former AMON AMARTH guitarist Anders "Hansson" Biazzi (who played on AMON AMARTH's first two albums, 1996's "Sorrow Throughout The Nine Worlds" and 1998's "Once Sent From The Golden Hall") and CRYPT OF KERBEROS drummer Mattias Borgh — has announced the addition of guitarist Gustaf Myrin (PATHALOG, APES IQ) to the group's ranks.

SKINEATER Joined By Ex-CARNAL FORGE Bassist
 SKINEATER, the international metal project featuring former members of IN THY DREAMS and THE ABSENCE, has announced the addition of bassist Stefan Westerberg (CARNAL FORGE, IN THY DREAMS, STEEL ATTACK, WORLD BELOW, 8 FOOT SATIVA) to the group's ranks.
SKINEATER was created after Håkan Stuvemark (IN THY DREAMS, WOMBBATH, VICIOUS) left VICIOUS in 2008 to focus on his main instrument again, guitar. He immediately began writing new material and asked drummer Jeramie Kling (NINETY MINUTE REFLEX, INFEARNEON, THE ABSENCE) to lay down the drums as well as the vocals.

THE HAUNTED: \'Unseen\' Digipak Detailed; Album Trailer Available
 "Unseen", the seventh studio album from Swedish metallers THE HAUNTED, will be released on March 22 (one day earlier internationally) via Century Media Records. The CD was once again recorded with longtime producer Tue Madsen (MOONSPELL, DARK TRANQUILLITY, GOREFEST, SICK OF IT ALL) at his Antfarm Studio in Århus, Denmark.
In addition to the regular CD as well as a limited LP version (180-gram black vinyl with the full album on CD as bonus!) and the digital download format of the record, a very special limited edition (pictured on top!) of "Unseen" will be released in Europe as a silver-foil-wrapped digipak, including not only classy packaging and extended artwork but also three bonus audio tracks: The brand new song "Attention" as well as radio-session live versions of the tracks "The Reflection" and "The Fallout".

Regarding the "Unseen" cover artwork, which can be seen below, THE HAUNTED said, "The artwork design was made by our friend Frode, who also did the art for [2004's] 'rEVOLVEr'. We really like his design aesthetic, and he seems to come up with something unique every single time."

THE HAUNTED recently signed a new worldwide deal with Century Media Records for the release of the group's next CD.
The band's last three albums — "rEVOLVEr", "The Dead Eye" and "Versus" — were all issued through the German label.
THE HAUNTED released a live DVD/CD, "Road Kill", in North America on June 8, 2010 via Century Media.

PAGAN\'S MIND - Album Titel enthüllt und neuer Song im Stream!
 Die Norwegischen Melodic Power Metaller PAGAN'S MIND werden ihr neues Album mit dem Titel "Heavenly Ecstasy" noch i diesem Jahr veröffentlichen. Gemischt wurde der "God's Equation" Nachfolger von Stefan Glaumann in den Toytown Studios (RAMMSTEIN, MADONNA, WITHIN TEMPTATION) in Stockholm in Schweden. HIER wurde jetzt der neue Song "Intermission" zum probehören online gestellt.

SLASH Says He\'s Already Working On Material For Next Solo Album

WHITESNAKE: More \'Forevermore\' Release Details Revealed
WHITESNAKE's brand new album, "Forevermore", due out in North America on March 29 via Frontiers Records, is set for release in four different configurations.
"Forevermore" will be available as:
* a single CD
* a CD+DVD combo: the DVD features the "Love Will Set You Free" video, the making of "Love Will Set You Free" video, as well as a behind-the-scenes documentary on the recording of "Forevermore"; the CD includes three bonus tracks: "Love Will Set You Free" (alternate mix), "My Evil Ways" (alternate mix with drum solo) and "Forevermore" (acoustic version)
* a double-LP vinyl edition
* a special edition box set which includes the CD, DVD, LPs, as well as a cover litho, a poster and a logo sticker.
The digital album is available for pre-order now via Whitesnake.com and includes an instant track download of "Love Will Set You Free". Pre-order of the album is also available at all digital stores now, with Amazon digital stores offering "My Evil Ways" (alternate mix with drum solo) as a bonus track; while the iTunes LP edition features the "Love Will Set You Free" (alternate mix) and "Forevermore" (acoustic version) as bonus tracks.
The first single from "Forevermore", "Love Will Set You Free", has been heating up at radio with serious spins at stations such as WDHA/New Jersey, KGGO/Des Moines, KDKB/Phoenix, WWHG/Madison, WONE/Akron, WLUP/Chicago, KSHE/St. Louis, WAXQ/New York and more.
WHITESNAKE frontman David Coverdale will be the featured guest on the nationally syndicated radio show "Rockline" with host Bob Coburn on Wednesday, March 9 at 8:30 p.m. PT/11:30 p.m. ET as part of the ongoing series "Notes on Music" and then again on Wednesday, March 30 at 8: :30 p.m. PT/11:30 p.m. ET for the new album, "Forevermore".
The video for "Love Will Set You Free", which can be seen below, has received upwards of 230,000 views in its first two weeks. Directed by Devin DeHaven of Fortress Entertainment (PAPA ROACH, METHOD MAN, TALIB KWELI), the clip was shot in Lake Tahoe, Nevada where Coverdale resides.
"Forevermore" finds founder/singer/songwriter David Coverdale and company returning to their no-holds-barred, bluesiest, sexiest rock n' roll roots. The CD was recorded, produced and mixed by Los Bros Brutalos (Coverdale, guitarist Doug Aldrich and Michael McIntyre).
"Forevermore" will be specially released on a "Snake Pack" edition for the first three weeks in England only. This very special release — arranged in conjunction with Future Publishing and Classic Rock magazine — will come with a collector's edition 132-page deluxe magazine plus A1 poster and metal pin badge and shall feature an exclusive cover art and two bonus live tracks, "Slide It In" and "Cheap An' Nasty", which will serve as an appetizer for the forthcoming live CD and DVD, "Live At Donington 1990", to be released in the summer 2011.

WOLF: New Album Cover Artwork, Track Listing Revealed
 Swedish heavy metallers WOLF will release their sixth album, "Legions Of Bastards", via Century Media Records on the following dates:

The follow-up to 2009's "Ravenous", "Legions Of Bastards" was produced by Pelle Saether at Studio Underground in Vasterås, Sweden. The cover artwork was once again created by Thomas Holm (the man who was responsible for the legendary MERCYFUL FATE "Melissa" and "Don't Break The Oath" covers) and can be viewed below.
Commented the band: "'Legions Of Bastards' is the fruit of lots of hard work, sweat and blood.
"Our music has always come from the heart, but this one seems to us even more honest and straight-forward than any other album we've made.
