PENTAGRAM: \'Last Rites\' Cover Artwork, Track Listing Revealed
 PENTAGRAM, the band that has been churning out widely admired hard rock/doom metal for over four decades, has just revealed the track listing and artwork to its highly anticipated new album, "Last Rites". Due on April 12 via Metal Blade Records, the CD contains 11 new tracks of behemoth tunes that fans have been clamoring for since the last Liebling/Griffin masterpiece was released in 1994 ("Be Forewarned").

A Philly native and a huge fan of underground music, his work also graces the covers of several of his favorite local bands, including TOTAL FUCKING DESTRUCTION.

AMON AMARTH: Another New Song Available For Streaming
 "Slaves Of Fear", a brand new song from Swedish melodic death metal tyrants AMON AMARTH, is available for streaming at DecibelMagazine.com. It can also be heard using the audio player below.
Commented AMON AMARTH drummer Fredrik Andersson: "'Slaves Of Fear' is not the all-typical AMON AMARTH song. It was one of the last songs we finished for the album and what makes this song a little bit different is the collaboration between me and [guitarist] Olavi [Mikkonen] as songwriters. Usually, most songs are written by Olavi and [guitarist] Johan [Söderberg]. It's definitely one of the darkest songs we've ever written and the main/intro riff is my personal tribute to the passing of Ronnie James Dio as the riff came to me after listening to 'Holy Diver'. Lyrically, it’s about how religions keep people under its control and from thinking for themselves. It includes some of the most angry lyrics [vocalist] Johan [Hegg] has written and they kind of remind me of 'The Sound Of Eight Hooves' [off 2001's 'The Crusher' full-length] in a way. It works exceptionally well with the melancholic feel of the riffs."

DEVILDRIVER: Another New Song Available For Streaming
 "You Make Me Sick", a brand new song from Santa Monica, California metallers DEVILDRIVER, can be streamed using the audio player below. The track comes off the band's fifth album, "Beast", which will be released on February 22 via Roadrunner Records. The CD was recorded at Sonic Ranch studios in Tornillo, Texas with producer Mark Lewis (TRIVIUM, CHIMAIRA, ALL THAT REMAINS) and was mixed by acclaimed British producer Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, EXODUS, MACHINE HEAD, NEVERMORE, ARCH ENEMY) at his Backstage studio in Derbyshire, England. The band recorded 14 songs during the "Beast" sessions, with 12 tracks making the standard version of the CD and all 14 songs appearing on the special edition.

GRAVEYARD: New Album Artwork Unveiled
 Psychedelic doom rock band GRAVEYARD from Gothenburg, Sweden have unveiled the artwork for their second full-length studio release, "Hisingen Blues". The album was produced, recorded, and mixed in 100 percent analog by Don Alsterberg (JOSÉ GONZALES, JUNIP, SOUNDTRACK OF OUR LIVES, THE INTERNATIONAL NOISE CONSPIRACY) at Don Pierre Studios in Gothenburg, Sweden. It will be out in Europe on March 25 and in North America on April 19 via Nuclear Blast Records.
The band shares details about the album artist, Ulf Lundén: "We wanted a cover that wasn't your average rock/metal cover, and our friend Ulf Lundén was just the right guy to do it. We had seen his work for his own band, BOMBUS, and we knew he had a wild imagination. So we just let him loose. He put us up against the green screen, took his photos and that was that. A couple of weeks later, he showed us what he had done. We were astonished by his work, a perfectionist indeed. We got what we asked for, a cover that isn't average. Rich with details, swamp/jungle feeling, weirdness and a lurking evil feel to it."
A limited-edition seven-inch picture disc of the title track, "Hisingen Blues", backed with the exclusive vinyl track "Granny And Davis" and featuring different artwork will be available through Nuclear Blast Germany's mail-order on February 25 and Nuclear Blast USA's webstore on March 15. SIC Signs With MIGHTY MUSIC
 Faroese hardcore/thrash metal band SIC has inked a deal with the Danish label Mighty Music / Target Distribution for the release of the group's sophomore album, "Fighters They Bleed". Due on April 11, the follow-up to 2007's "Pandemonium" (Tutl Records) was recorded at Hansen Studios in Ribe, Denmark with producer Jacob Hansen (VOLBEAT, DESTRUCTION, MERCENARY, HEAVEN SHALL BURN) and was mixed by Tue Madsen (DARK TRANQUILLITY, SICK OF IT ALL, MOONSPELL, THE HAUNTED).
"Fighters They Bleed" marks th recording debut of SIC's new drummer, Dennis Buhl (ex-HATESPHERE), who replaced Magnus Hansen in December 2009. The cover artwork was created by Seth Siro Anton (SEPTICFLESH).

Ex-IRON MAIDEN Singer PAUL DI\'ANNO Faces Jail Time For Falsely Claiming Benefits
 According to the Daily Mail, former IRON MAIDEN singer Paul Di'Anno (real name: Paul Andrews) is facing jail time after he falsely collected U.K. government benefits by claiming he suffered nerve damage to his back that prevented him from working.
Di'Anno, 52, admitted swindling taxpayers out of more than £45,000 (approximately $72,000) by claiming a range of incapacity benefit, housing benefit and council tax handouts, by stating he was to ill to work, between 2002 and 2008. He claimed to be suffering from Sciatica, or nerve damage to the back.
D'Anno was reportedly busted when investigators at Department Of Work And Pensions (DWP) received an anonymous tip that he was still singing. They then found videos and pictures on YouTube and the rocker's own web site of Di'Anno "energetically leaping around on stage, singing to fans around the world."
Honorary Recorder Judge Andrew Barnett told Di'Anno at yesterday's hearing at at Salisbury Crown Court, "You have got the sense and courage to plead guilty to these matters, but you have to understand that they are very serious.
"Although all sentence options will be open, you should prepare yourself for a prison sentence — and an immediate one at that."
Di'Anno will be sentenced on March 11.
Di'Anno completed his first North American tour in early 2010, 17 years after he was deported following a prison term for guns and drug offenses.
"In 1991 I did a couple of stints in jail for guns and drugs," Di'Anno explained in a 2010 interview. "I was stupid. But after I'd done my stretch they still treated me like a criminal. And I was — but I wasn't that bad. So I didn't feel good about America. The government, not the people.
"Prison was tough, but I'm tougher. I was nobody's bitch, put it that way. You've got to do it; otherwise people will walk all over you."

ARCHITECTS Parts Ways With Bassist
 British metallers ARCHITECTS have parted ways with bassist Ali Dean.
Commented the band: "Most of you will already know that Ali was not part of our previous European tour due to commitments he had with his family. Unfortunately, these commitments are going to extend indefinitely and as a result he simply cannot commit the time required to continue playing with us.
"No one will miss him more than the four of us. He's been a huge part of our lives and we couldn't have asked for a nicer guy to be a part of this band, so we'd like to say a huge thank you to Ali for committing the last five years of his life to ARCHITECTS.
"At this point we are uncertain who will be filling the role, but we do know we will be playing on all our upcoming tours and we have no intention of slowing down whatsoever.
"We're so stoked on how you guys have reacted to 'The Here And Now' so far and we cannot wait to get back on the road and play to all you guys, beginning with the U.K. in April."
Added Ali in a statement: "I just wanted to say a few things to make sure my reasons for parting ways with ARCHITECTS are clear.
"I'm not going to go into any great detail, as I'm sure you'll all understand that my reasons for leaving are of a personal nature.
"My family suffered a pretty huge loss recently and as a result, I can no longer commit myself to this band to the extent necessary.
"Playing in this band and spending the past five years of my life with these four guys has been extraordinary. I consider myself very fortunate to have been able to be in a band and travel with these guys, and to see and do all the things that we've done together. I wouldn't change a thing about the experience.
"I would love nothing more than to carry on, but I've now got other priorities and commitments which would not be right for me to ignore.
"Keep supporting these guys, because they're an amazing group of musicians and more importantly they're incredible people.”
"The Here And Now", the new album from ARCHITECTS, sold around 900 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 47 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
"The Here And Now" debuted at position No. 57 on the official U.K. chart.

DOUBLE DRAGON Putting Finishing Touches On New Album
 Australia's DOUBLE DRAGON is currently at Adelaide's Against The Grain Studios completing the final tracking on the band's sophomore album, "Sons Of Asena", due later in the year. The follow-up to 2008's "Devastator" (Truth Inc. Records/MGM) will feature a guest appearance by Brisbane-based ARIA award nominee and platinum-selling Sony BMG singer songwriter Kate Miller-Heidke (pictured below) on the CD's closing track, "Asena". Also contributing guitars to the song will be Miller-Heidke's husband, co-songwriter and guitarist for her band KEIR NUTTAL.
Commented DOUBLE DRAGON vocalist Lee Gardiner: "We are all pretty excited with how this album is turning out. Having two new members has definitely altered our sound, as well as taking in everything we have learned from releasing an album, touring and playing alongside some of our heroes.
"Having Kate and Keir on our album is for me, a really big deal; I am a massive fan of their music and what they have contributed to 'Asena' is really going to surprise people familiar with their music. I have always wanted to hear them both on a really heavy track and now I have my wish!

ILLDISPOSED: New Album Track Listing Revealed
 Danish extreme metallers ILLDISPOSED will release their new album, "There Is Light (But It's Not For Me)", one week later than previously announced — on April 1 via Massacre Records. The band recorded the CD at Antfarm Studio in Århus, Denmark with producer Tue Madsen (MOONSPELL, DARK TRANQUILLITY, GOREFEST, SICK OF IT ALL).
The "There Is Light (But It's Not For Me)" artwork was created by Lasse Hoile, who previously worked with ILLDISPOSED on the "1-800 Vindication" and "Burn Me Wicked" releases.

KIRK HAMMETT Says METALLICA Is Working On Secret Project
 METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett revealed to RollingStone.com in a brand new interview that the band will head back into the studio in May to begin a new project. "We want to record it in two weeks," Hammett said. "We had planned on doing it in March, but we pushed it back to May. I don't want to give too much away, but it's not really 100 percent a METALLICA record. It's a recording project, let's put it that way. Without getting too deep into it, it's more a recording project than a bona fide METALLICA album. Whether or not we can pull it off in just two weeks remains to be seen."
METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich hinted in an interview that the band plans to enter the studio this spring and begin working on material for its 10th album. Ulrich first told The Pulse Of Radio that the group was thinking of getting back to work in "March or April" and made similar comments to Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet, telling the paper, "In the past, we would be fed up with METALLICA whenever we returned home after a gigantic world tour, but this time it's different."
Ulrich told The Pulse Of Radio that the band is having such a good time lately that it doesn't want to take several years off between records like before. "Sometimes after these marathon tours that we go on, we end up really needing some time away. But right now there's such a good vibe in the band — everybody's just really having a good time, appreciating each other, appreciating METALLICA, that I don't think it's gonna be a year," he said. "My best guess would be we'll probably get back to it in the springtime, start piecing some riffs together, play some songs, have some fun, kind of approach it without sort of real deadlines or any of that type of stuff."
METALLICA's turmoil during the early 2000s was well-documented in the film "Some Kind Of Monster", but Ulrich told the Danish paper that the band members' relationship has changed over the years. He explained, "It helps our relationships that we've all got families and children and they all get along with each other. We really like each other at the moment. There were a few years when things were really bad . . . the fact that we have something to talk about other than tonight's setlist is or if someone made a mistake during yesterday's show makes a big difference."
Although the band has cut back on its touring schedule, it still played more than 200 shows in 45 countries in support of 2008's "Death Magnetic" album. Ulrich said, "Of course it's still hard to play that many shows, but the older you get, the less you take success for granted . . . It's awesome that a bunch if semi-old farts like us can still travel around the world and thousands of people wanna share that experience with us."
METALLICA will next headline the "Big Four" concert on April 23 at the Empire Polo Field in Indio, California, also featuring SLAYER, ANTHRAX and MEGADETH.
The single U.S. date is the result of popular demand after the four bands went on a wildly successful seven-date European run last year, with more shows possible.

CHICKENFOOT: New Video Footage, Photos From The Studio Posted Online
 CHICKENFOOT, the rock supergroup featuring former VAN HALEN singer Sammy Hagar and bassist Michael Anthony, guitarist Joe Satriani and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer Chad Smith, entered Hagar's private studio in Northern California on January 29 with engineer Mike Fraser (AC/DC, METALLICA) to begin recording its second album for a late 2011 release.

In a recent interview with Guitar International, Hagar stated about the recording process for the new CHICKENFOOT CD, "We're writing in the studio on the spot. Joe presents us with some musical ideas, and his ideas are really together, it isn't this vague idea. He presents you with an intro, a verse, a chorus, a bridge, a solo and an ending. Then we jam to it. I see if it feels melodically in my repertoire of blues licks that I have in my voice. [Laughs] Then I come up with a good melody and structure, and we work on the arrangement until we all agree. Then my job is to come up with a title before we're done rehearsing the song. Last but not least, I go out and write the lyrics. Believe it or not, I've already written lyrics for five of the songs on the new record. Then we get a take that sounds good and we continue the process. I can't believe how fast things are going with this record. It's amazing."
He continued, "We're flying through it, but I don't think that'll have any bearing on when it gets released. I don't think we'll release it until towards the end of the year. It's happening fast on its own, but we had to cram Chad, drums] into this five-week period we have here to get it done. We're way ahead of that. We expected in the five weeks to get 12 or 13 songs written and lay down the drum tracks. Then Chad could go away for the rest of the year and Joe, Michael and I could finish the record. That's the way it was planned, but we're way beyond that. It's fucking crazy, the chemistry in this band. We're even pushing ourselves this time to do some things musically that we know we're capable of, but that we haven't touched on yet. I keep telling Joe, 'Come up with any idea you want for me. How would you like to hear me sing? Write some music like that and I'll stretch myself and make my voice and lyric ideas work for that music.' We've done this already in a short time, and it seems like with this band everything just comes easy. No matter what we bite off, it comes easy. There's a real special chemistry that we have with this band."

ANTHRAX: New Footage From The Studio Posted Online
 ANTHRAX was at Groovemaster Studios in Chicago, Illinois last weekend recording three new songs for the band's next album.

In a recent interview with RockMusicStar.com, ANTHRAX singer Joey Belladonna stated about the progress of the recording sessions for the band's new CD, "Well, there are three or four more cuts that need to be recorded. Vocally, I'm already into my fourth or fifth song as far as pre-production. I'm not laying down anything for real yet. I'm working out what I can move and what I can do and how I can make it better." He added, "The three or four that I'm talking about may have some changes [made to them]. But I've had my moments of looking at some of the tracks and thinking how I'm I going to do this one and make it cool. It would be cool if we were starting from day one, but we are moving from point 'A' to point 'C' at this point."
When asked if working on new ANTHRAX songs was a challenge because of the fact that most of the material was written for previous vocalist, Dan Nelson, Joey said, "I kind of hate that someone was already singing this stuff and now I have to kind of dance around it and do it all over. They (ANTHRAX) have in their mind already how they want it to sound, so it's kind of hard to shake it away. They are not going to say to me, 'Go on and do something totally different and we will just dig it.' [Laughs] It's hard, but I'm not worried about it."

Recorded at Nightsky Studio, the CD has a 12-page full color booklet with artwork by Ron Miller, who is best known for his work as the production illustrator for the movie "Dune".
"Timeline: The Beginning And End Of Everything", which was produced by the band's guitarist/vocalist Ron Vento, marks the recording debut of drummer Mark Green. It consists of nine tracks and two narratives. The album is a conceptual effort that starts from the beginning of all existence and continues through until the very end of universe and the eventual retraction and rebirth of it all.

GRAVE DIGGER: New \'The Clans Are Still Marching\' DVD Trailer Available
 One cannot think of a better location to loudly celebrate a metal anniversary than the legendary Wacken Open Air festival. German power metallers GRAVE DIGGER never thought twice than to mark their 30th anniversary with a metal extravaganza that would allow their most loyal fans to celebrate with them at the metal Mecca. This once-in-a-lifetime evening delivered the band's classic "Tunes of War" in its entirety. Thousands of headbangers shared in the enjoyment of timeless anthems such as "Scotland United", "The Dark Of The Sun", and, of course, "Rebellion". Staying true to the evening's theme, frontman Chris Boltendahl performed in "Braveheart"-inspired garb. Yet he had more surprises up his sleeve, as he welcomed guest artists VAN CANTO, Hansi Kürsch (BLIND GUARDIAN), and metal queen Doro Pesch to join him on stage.

GRAVE DIGGER's latest album, "The Clans Will Rise Again", was released in Europe on October 1 via Napalm Records. The CD was recorded between mid-May and mid-July at the Meadow Studios, which is owned by GRAVE DIGGER's new guitarist Axel Ritt, and Principal Studios, where all of GRAVE DIGGER albums since 1995's "Heart Of Darkness" have been tracked. It was produced by Chris Boltendahl and mixed by Jörg Umbreit.

MAYHEM Parts Ways With Guitarist, Announces Replacement
 According to MetalRiot.com, Norwegian black metallers MAYHEM have parted ways with French guitarist Silmaeth (ex-VORKREIST) and have replaced him with Teloch (NIDINGR, GOD SEED, OV HELL).
Commented MAYHEM vocalist Attila Csihar: "MAYHEM have decided to step forward and invite Teloch into the MAYHEM brotherhood, replacing Silmaeth on guitars.
"Teloch is a longtime friend and a great guitarist.
"MAYHEM would like to thank Silmaeth for his full dedication towards the band for the last two years, we wish him all success in his musical career!”
Teloch added: "After many years in the Norwegian metal scene, doing all sorts of extreme metal in numerous bands, I finally hit the bulls eye and joined my old friends in MAYHEM!"

DEATH ANGEL's latest album, "Relentless Retribution", sold 2,700 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 10 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200. The band's previous album, "Killing Season", opened with around 2,300 units back in March 2008. This number was in line with the performance of its predecessor, "The Art of Dying", which registered a first-week sales tally of around 2,100 back in May 2004.

GEEZER BUTLER Says There Will 'Definitely' Be 'No Reunion' Of Original BLACK SABBATH
 Legendary bassist Geezer Butler has released the following statement via his official web site:
"I would like to make it clear, because of mounting speculation and rumors, that there will be definitely NO reunion of all four original members of BLACK SABBATH, whether to record an album or to tour."
In a January 27 interview with the Los Angeles-based "Mark And Brian Show", which airs on 95.5 KLOS Southern California's Best Rock, SABBATH singer Ozzy Osbourne said, "I often get asked this question: 'Will there ever be a [new BLACK SABBATH studio] album?' One thing I can say for definite [is] we are all talking, we are all friends. But it's been 30 years since we did a studio album — if it's not something extra, extra special, the people are gonna go, 'We waited 30 years [for this...]' But before my life's over, I would love... my dream is to do the ultimate BLACK SABBATH album; I would love to do that."
Butler previously said in an interview with AOL's Noisecreep that while all four of the band's original members are interested in taking part in a reunion, Ozzy Osbourne's current world solo tour will keep SABBATH on ice for the foreseeable future. Butler explained, "It's not going to happen [in 2011]. Ozzy's on tour with his own band for the next year or whatever . . . I'm sure Ozzy will say 'yes' and 'no' every week for the next year while he's on tour. It's one thing to want to do something like that just before you go out to tour a record. You say, 'Oh yeah, I'm gonna tour for the next five years.' And then six weeks into it, you can't wait to get home. So we'll just see how he feels when he finishes his Ozzy Osbourne tour."
The original SABBATH lineup of Ozzy, Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward has not toured together since the summer of 2005, and last convened for their induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in early 2006.
In a 2010 interview with Sunday Mercury, Iommi said that he didn't rule out another reunion with Osbourne. Following the death of singer Ronnie James Dio last May, with whom Iommi had been working in the SABBATH offshoot HEAVEN & HELL, Iommi told Sunday Mercury, "I spoke to Ozzy while I was in Los Angeles after Ronnie's funeral . . . Ozzy and I have a complicated relationship but we've always kept in touch, no matter what else might have been going on. Would I play with Ozzy again? Who knows? It's weird with me and Ozzy."
Iommi added, "There can be all sorts of shit going on but when we talk, it's like nothing bad has ever happened."
SABBATH did try to record a new album 12 years ago, their first since 1978, but abandoned the attempt after just a couple of songs.
Ozzy filed a lawsuit against Iommi in May 2009, claiming that Iommi illegally took sole ownership of the band's name in a filing with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

IRON MAIDEN Wins \'Best Metal Performance\' GRAMMY For \'El Dorado\'
 IRON MAIDEN was honored with a Grammy in the "Best Metal Performance" category in the pre-telecast ceremony at the 53rd annual Grammy Awards, which are being held tonight (Sunday, February 13) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. IRON MAIDEN was nominated for the track "El Dorado", from the band's 2010 album "The Final Frontier".
The nominees in this year's "Metal" category were as follows:
* IRON MAIDEN - "El Dorado" (from "The Final Frontier")
* KORN - "Let The Guilt Go" (from "Korn III: Remember Who You Are")

DIE APOKALYPTISCHEN REITER: \'Dr. Pest\' Video Released
 "Dr. Pest", the new video from Germany's DIE APOKALYPTISCHEN REITER, can be viewed below. The clip was filmed in Wroclaw, Poland with the Grupa13 company, which has previously worked with BEHEMOTH and AMON AMARTH. The location of the shoot was the Four Domes Pavilion, which was erected in 1913. The Centennial Hall also belongs to this complex and is part of the UNESCO world cultural heritage.
"This was the most elaborate and thrilling shooting ever," the band said. "The over 40 workers of Grupa13 felt 'Dr. Pest''s magic and the horrible cold on location couldn't harm them. Together with the team we developed the storyline for the video. To achieve a perfect cinematic look, we shot with a Red One MX 35mm camera — a camera usually used for feature film productions. The result is simply breathtaking."
"Dr. Pest" comes off the band's new album, "Moral & Wahnsinn" (English translation: Morality & Insanity), which will be released on February 25 via Nuclear Blast Records.
