DESTRUCTION: \'Day Of Reckoning\' Album Details Revealed; New Drummer Announced
 German thrash metal veterans DESTRUCTION will release their new album, "Day Of Reckoning", on February 28, 2011 via Nuclear Blast Records. The first limited edition of the album will not feature the band's logo on the booklet while the vinyl version and second pressing of the CD will show a red DESTRUCTION logo on it.
Commented DESTRUCTION bassist/vocalist Marcel "Schmier" Schirmer: "First of all, 'cause I hear the hardcore fans already complaining, the DESTRUCTION skull and the butcher can be found in the illustrated booklet of 'Day Of Reckoning'.
"The last man on earth that faces the end of the world, the concept of the album had to have the most evil base with a striking eye-catching look.
"We decided to not use the classical butcher theme on the cover front this time, 'cause this album needed a malicious look with symbols that express this strong title in the most bold and simple way.
"The story line will continue through the whole cover art and booklet. Gyula, a fantastic artist and metal fan from Hungary, was a great help for us with nailing down this concept. It's not the first time we worked with him; he illustrated all our latest releases! Like the band, he breathes, lives and understands the concept of a rather socially critical band like DESTRUCTION to the bone!"
"Day Of Reckoning" is the first album to feature DESTRUCTION's new drummer Vaaver .

THERION Mainman: We\'ll Never Tour The U.S. Again
 David E. Gehlke of Blistering.com recently conducted an interview with Christofer Johnsson of Swedish progressive/experimental metallers THERION. A few excerpts from the chat follow below:
Blistering.com: Anything different in the writing process for "Sitra Ahra"? It seems like with every album something new comes up for you.
Johnsson: I just write. I have no idea where things are headed. This was record was different because I had enough material for three albums, but I woke up one day and decided to save some songs. On occasion we've recorded leftovers from previous albums, which for most bands, is a bonus. This is unique. Take [IRON] MAIDEN — they never would have released the material written around "Powerslave" or "Somewhere In Time" 10 years later. The band had evolved too much by then. For THERION, it's simply a matter of learning about new instruments. For every album, you'll get the typical whines which is classic. Like for "Deggial", I read the forums and it's the new favorite album. "Secret Of The Ruins" sold less than "Vovin" and everyone considered it to be a flop, yet now it's considered to be the best. I've read so many embarrassing pages, so much shit, and positive reviews from people that proves they just don't get it. Some fuck wrote about how we've reunited and "Gothic Kabbalah" was our final album. People think they know me, but they don't know simple music from complex music. Everyone is on their high horses these days.
Blistering.com: Because of the Internet?
Johnsson: Yeah, because of the Internet. It's amazing what people write.
Blistering.com: Indeed. Speaking of which, I read on the Net that you are never touring the United States again. Is that still true?
Johnsson: Oh yeah, we're never going to tour the U.S. again. It would be a miracle for us to do that again, like an offer we couldn't refuse. I knew we'd do OK there, but the tours we did [both in support of "Gothic Kabbalah"] had total shithead booking. It was pretty miserable, never too posh. There were about 150-200 people a show and in this economy, it's tough. Hard to get anywhere with this economy. I'm 40 years old. We do well in Europe, great in Latin America. Some people think the United States is essential, but we're not big in Africa either. [laughs] Not touring there takes away a lot of the legwork, and when you do all of that work to tour the States, it's not worth it. Not when you're 40. I have to cut down because I have a kid at home. We can go anywhere, it's totally possible, but we're doing it when we need to.
Blistering.com: So any chance of doing a one-off festival?
Johnsson: I can see us playing the U.S. only for a festival, yes. Like the ProgPower USA festival, very professional and organized, so we'd do that again. During our second tour there, we went through twice the amount of crap, and half the people. It's like we caught all of the people we could have the first time, and we can't do charity and put baby powder on my ass. It's just a lot of effort, so why bother? Then people complain that we don't come over. Well, it's the lack of enthusiasm. We have die-hard fans, who I appreciate, but the attitude there is too laid-back.

EX DEO: New Album Title Announced; Audio Interview Available
 EX DEO — the Ancient Roman-themed arsenal led by KATAKLYSM frontman Maurizio Iacono — will begin pre-production on its next album, "Caligula", once KATAKLYSM has completed its touring commitments in 2011. Iacono states, "Expect a revolutionary album that will breathe the word 'NEW' into a much-stagnant metal industry.
"It is yet undermined which label will release 'Caligula' as we are looking at many different options."
EX DEO is currently on the road in North America with NILE, PSYCROPTIC and KEEP OF KALESSIN. Maurizio says, "It's amazing to see a vision I had one day waking up finally become a reality two years ago.
"We had done a few shows in America with ENSIFERUM for our debut album, 'Romulus' that were fantastic, but to go across the country and really seeing people waiting anxiously for this and screaming their hearts out for it live has been one incredible feeling.
"I feel EX DEO is changing the game of the underground, bringing a theater to the live stage and bringing a new concept that has never done before.
"This is a beast of a band and we would like to thank everyone for the great support."

TRIUMPH: Trailer For Classic-Album Reissues Available
 A trailer for the reissues of TRIUMPH's 10 classic albums, in digipak version and with the original track listings, can be viewed below.
TRIUMPH is one of Canada's greatest hard rock bands. With 10 classic albums released between 1976 and 1987, they have left an indelible mark on the history of hard rock, melodic rock and are nowadays considered among the forefathers of progressive metal.
Epitomizing the essence of the power-trio sound, Rik Emmett (guitar and vocals), Mike Levine (bass and keyboards) and Gil Moore (drums and vocals) are regarded as virtuoso musicians in their own right and great entertainers thanks to the TRIUMPH concert spectacle that was second to none.
Frontiers has announced that the official reissues of TRIUMPH's 10 classic albums will be made available on December 3.

KATANGA Signs With MASSACRE RECORDS
 Greifswald, Germany-based melodic gothic rock band KATANGA has inked a deal with Massacre Records. The group's new album, "Moonchild", will be released on January 28, 2011.
KATANGA was formed in 1994. Five years later, they recorded their first EP, "Leben". This was followed a year later by a second EP, "Batflight".
KATANGA's full-length debut, "Darkchild", was released in 2005.
The band has supported such bands as KNORKATOR, BLIND PASSENGERS, SCREAM SILENCE, THANATEROS, THE CASCADES, ATARGATIS and UMBRA ET IMAGO. | 0 | |

SYSTEM OF A DOWN Planning Comeback Tour In 2011
 According to the official blog of Francis Zégut, host of the show "Pop Rock Station" on the French radio station RTL2, SYSTEM OF A DOWN will perform at the Palais Omnisports de Paris Bercy in Paris, France on June 6, 2011. This is expected to be one of many gigs the reunited band will play in Europe during next summer's festival season. An official announcement on the matter, with more details about the group's future plans, could come as early as next week.

DEADLOCK: New Album Title, Release Date Announced
 Germany's DEADLOCK is putting the finishing touches on its new album, "Bizarro World", for a February 28, 2011 European release (except in Germany, where it will arrive three days earlier) via Lifeforce Records. Release dates for the U.S. and Japan will be announced soon. The CD was recorded at Slaughter's Palace studio and is once again being produced and engineered by the band's musical mastermind and guitar/sound wizard Sebastian Reichl.

ANGRA/ ALMAH Singer Edu Falaschi Goes Green
 Singer Edu Falaschi (ANGRA, ALMAH) has recently participated in the recording of a song that is to be a part of a new animal protection campaign, fighting against social violence and destruction of the environment. The action is inspired by ANDA – The News Agency of Animal Rights – Brazilian organization established by the journalist and animal defence activist, Silvana Andrade. Edu Falaschi recorded a song together with such renowned national artists as Lucinha Lins, Elba Ramalho, Cláudio Lins, Carlinhos Brown, Patrícia Marx, Tetê Espíndola among others.
According to the vocalist, he is always very happy to take part in such kind of projects and that the environmental protection and animal defence awareness should always be promoted. If everyone does what he can, even any little effort will give the humanity more chances to change the actual situation, believes Edu.

Falaschi is currently touring with Angra supporting the brand new studio album of the band Aqua, out now via SPV/Steamhammer. The band recently performed in Japan (two shows at Loud Park Festival) and Taiwan (one headlining show in Taipei). Until the end of 2010 Angra will continue making shows in Brazil, and on January 13-14th the band will play in USA together with another legendary Brazilian-based metal act, SEPULTURA. A headlining European Tour is planned for February, 2011. Angra has been recently confirmed as a participant of Rock In Rio 2011 Festival.

MR. BIG - What If... Album Details Revealed
 Frontiers Records has announce the European release of MR. BIG’s new studio album, entitled What If…, on January 21st. The North American release, also on Frontiers Records, shall follow in February with more exciting details to be announced.
What If… is Mr. Big’s first “all original” album since the reunion of the four original members, Eric Martin, Paul Gilbert, Billy Sheehan and Pat Torpey back in early 2009. Sixteen years after the release of Hey Man, the new recording is set to bring back Mr. Big on the height of the current hard rock scene.
Guitarist Paul Gilbert said: “This is the first Mr. Big album I have been a part of, since fourteen years and it was done in a snap. It was fun and we had really a good time in making this one.”
Continues Billy Sheehan: “It’s so great to be back with Paul, Eric and Pat too. We wrote this record like we did in the old days for the first 2 records. Jamming together in the same room to write songs.”
Pat Torpey adds: “Some of the recording process is different now from what we were used to in the old times. But I think this record really managed to capture the performances of the band, not of the individual musicians."
Eric Martin concludes: “I like to compare this to the first album, when we just got to know each other in a reharsal studio and cut it in 8 or 9 days. This is like chapter 2. We had so many years, so many records and so many things behind us. Now this feels like a beautiful brand new chapter starting for all of us.”
What If… was produced by Kevin Shirley (AEROSMITH, RUSH, IRON MAIDEN) and the release will be followed by a World Tour which will kick off in South America in March and will hit Europe in early summer.
Formed in 1988, Mr. Big forged its place in hard rock history by combining trademark "shredding" musicianship with awesome vocal harmonies. The original lineup – vocalist Eric Martin, guitarist Paul Gilbert, bassist Billy Sheehan, and drummer Pat Torpey. Mr. Big produced numerous hit songs that ranged across a wide array of rock genres – be it ballads, heavy metal, or blues rock.

GOROD: New EP and Line-Up Changes
 French Death Tech virtuosi Gorod are to the point to finish their forthcoming EP named "Transcendence"! This surprising sound, that shows Gorod's universe in a new way of it's musical approach, mark the end of the SF story that started with 1st album "Neurotripsick". This EP will consist of two parts.
Audio part: a re recorded and new version of "Earth Pus", 2 surprising acoustics versions of "Earth Pus (Salvation)" and "Blackout (Renewed Souls)", a cover of stellar Cynic's "Textures" and an outstanding epic 15" song (Transcendence) including guest vocals of NY legends Immolation's singer Ross Dolan.
DVD Part: an entire video show recorded live in their hometown's Rock School Barbey, Bordeaux (FR); a superb photo gallery of photographer David Sanchez that relate Gorod US 2010 trek, Gorod performance in Joao Onofre's "Box Sized DIE", and few more events, with a soundtrack of Gorod live performance at WFMU radio show (Jersey City, NJ, USA), recorded May 27, 2010.
The artwork, as usual, done by Gorod's guitar player and mastermind Mat, will be unveiled soon.

CODE: 3rd Album and Line-Up News
 We have not been in hibernation, but merely stealing ourselves, plotting and concocting since we returned from our European tour last year. There have been many changes in the Code camp and we would like to bring some of them out into the open for the carrion to feed...
Our, so far untitled, 3rd album is slowly emerging from it's crysalis. It's a mutant creature that's evolving and forming of its own will, as we mould to it and bring it to life. We are currently working on some experimental vocal lines and arrangements, re-arrangements and re-arrangements. Kvohst and our wordsmith Andrew Nicol are threading the letters through the needles and so far Aort has composed 10 unrefined and deathly heavy, raw working tracks. As you may crave, this new album will be a continuation of pushing the boundaries of progression and developing the strange world of Code further off the map and into uncharted zones - there will be many things that will shock, bewilder and flabbergast and yet there are many notions that pull the sound into a more organic and raw state this time around...
We are very elated to announce that we have, at last, found a full-time drummer for Code who is very much the soul we've been searching for and fits the mould like a blackbird glove. He is an old hand on the skins and has had extensive previous experience pounding drums in a range of diverse acts. We would like to welcome Lordt to the cult of the wayside pastors.
We would also like extend our thanks and belated welcome to Andras, our lead guitarist who joined the band on a permanent basis during our Eurpean tour and who played the beautiful solo in "I Hold Your Light" on Resplendent Grotesque. Andras has been a powerful performer and astounding musician with Code and we are very inspired by the energy and remarkable craft he brings to the fold.
In other news, we are sad to announce that, due to his current re-ignition with DHG and their busy schedule, plus our desire to build a stronger and more stable, permanent lineup, Vicotnik will not be able to join us for this recording and so he has departed the band. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for all his invaluable support since the early days of the band. Those who have come to love the eccentric basslines in Code will not be disappointed with his successor however, and we feel that the new blood is just what the hearse-nurses ordered to allow the band to grow and mutate. It has always been part of Aort and Kvohst's formula for Code that the bass lines have their own part to play in the sound and makeup of the band and so this will absolutely continue and evolve. The process will be hard and strict, but we are currently testing out replacements, and in the mean time, we have our good friend Ilia from Indisenence filling in on session bass duties for some, as yet undisclosed, forthcoming live shows. Some of you may remember Ilia when he performed with the band in Bitterfeld, DE and Brutal Assault, Czech Republic, with the band in 2008. We are looking forward to raising some hell with him again soon.

LaPlaca has previously worked with such acts as ZO2, ZANDELLE and CHRIS CAFFERY (TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA, SAVATAGE). Poley's current roster also includes drummer Dennis Leeflang (LITA FORD, BUMBLEFOOT), guitarist Maz Mazza (40 FT. RINGO, DETROIT CHEETA) and bassist Doug Odell (ALL POINTZ WEST, ICE AGE). The new lineup is scheduled to make its live debut on December 3rd at Klubben Fryshuset in Sweden.
Paul's inclusion in Ted's touring band continues a busy year for the multi-talented musician, which most recently saw him serving as associate producer of the new album from SplitScreen Entertainment, Whole Lotta Love: An All-Star Salute To Fat Chicks. For this unique project, LaPlaca produced five tracks in total, working with members of L.A. GUNS, QUIET RIOT, W.A.S.P. and TWISTED SISTER.
"It's just been a crazy year so far and every day is completely different." states the in-demand Paul LaPlaca. "Working on the Whole Lotta Love album was an incredible experience, with so many different styles and such outstanding musicians. After that I was able to squeeze in some tech duties for one of my all-time favorite bands, LIVING COLOUR. In between I worked a Disney fashion show and manned a camera for insanely talented drummer Jojo Mayer. I was even flown from New York to Tampa to shoot a product demo for Rocktron. Now instead of taking a break, I'm preparing for the European festival date with Ted Poley, a reunion show with members of OCTOBER THORNS and a live set of metalized Hanukkah favorites with NY's own GODS OF FIRE. I guess I can sleep when I'm DEAD!"
Making LaPlaca's induction into Poley's band all the more appropriate is the fact that he'd previously produced a song called 'Ted Poley' for the 2008 tribute album Kiss My Ankh: A Tribute To Vinnie Vincent. A parody of the Kiss song 'Unholy' by Vincent and Gene Simmons, the song was performed by rock & roll comic C.C. Banana and even featured current Poley bandmate Dennis Leeflang on drums. The track has proven to be a favorite with Ted's fans and has been used to open his solo shows ever since.
Considering that Poley himself recently signed with A.R.M. Entertainment (management firm of such notable talent as Bret Michaels, L.A. Guns and DOKKEN), Paul anticipates keeping busy for foreseeable future. | 0 | |

WITHIN TEMPTATION - Infos zum neuen Album und Titel enthüllt!
 We’re really excited to be able to finally announce the title of our new album.
Recently we’ve started giving clues on the website about our concept album. As you might have noticed our concept album is going to be based on a comic book series, written by Steven O’Connell (BloodRayne & Dark 48). We’ve asked comic artist Romano Molenaar (Witchblade, Darkness and X-men) to draw the characters and scenery.
The new album and comic will be titled: “The Unforgiving”.
On this album, we’ve taken a totally different approach. Each song on “The Unforgiving” was written along Steven’s narrative. The main characters of the comic are reflecting the characters of our songs. The concept pushed us and gave inspiration to come up with a new approach in our sound. It resulted in writing our best songs so far.
We have been big comic fans since our childhood. With this album we felt the time was there to take a new step in our creative development, take it further and broaden our horizon. Next to the concept form of the album, the songs are more divers than ever before. In addition, the music of the late 80ies, that’s when we started to read comic books, certainly has left a mark on our new sound.
The album is set for release in March 2011, but our loyal visitors knew this already

EVERGREY: New Album Details Revealed
 Swedish metallers EVERGREY will release their eighth studio album, "Glorious Collision", via Steamhammer/SPV on the following dates:
Germany: February 25
Rest Of Europe: February 28
USA/Canada: February 22
Occasionally a musician has to take a step back into the past to develop artistically. Tom Englund, guitarist and vocalist with EVERGREY, took this risk and reorganized his artistic environment. "The most recent EVERGREY lineup had reached a point where we no longer had fun as a group," he confesses, adding: "So we went our separate ways to save our friendship. There were no angry words, and we're still friends privately."
Naturally, the decision to break up wasn't easy for these long-standing friends, especially for Englund and his remaining keyboardist, Rikard Zander, for whom a continuation of EVERGREY was never called into question. Yet they both had to face a new challenge. In the beginning, we weren't sure whether we'd be able to write a new album without the wealth of experience that the previous lineup brought in," Englund says. "But after Rikard and I had composed a full three numbers during the first week, we felt that was a real coup."
Listeners will feel this positive energy throughout "Glorious Collision", which is described as "a dynamic goody bag featuring the most diverse material ever released on an EVERGREY album." "This may sound like a contradiction in view of our personnel situation, but Rikard and I have allowed more influences on 'Glorious Collision' than ever before," Englund says. "Some elements on 'Glorious Collision' are classic rock, based on a metal format, sometimes the tracks are quiet and haunting, sometimes wild, demanding and gripping."
This diversity is also expressed in the instrumentation of this extremely dynamic studio production which presents the new band members Marcus Jidell (guitar), Hannes Van Dahl (drums) and Johan Niemann (bass). "It's great to hear what a breath of fresh air Marcus, Johan and Hannes have brought into the band," Englund enthuses. "Although the entire material, except for two songs to which Marcus contributed on the compositional side, had already been decided when we started recording, they all left their own, very personal mark on this album." The great experience of Jidell and Niemann, who have worked with acts such as ROYAL HUNT and THERION, among others, and have now contributed lots of positive energy together with the 20-year-old drummer Van Dahl, can be felt throughout the album.
