ASTRIAAL: New Album Details Revealed
 After a seven-year recording silence, ASTRIAAL is now poised to return with its sophomore album entitled "Anatomy Of The Infinite". This next opus is due to be released in the autumn of 2010 for the southern equatorial territories via Australian label Obsidian Records.
Sounding strikingly different to the band's debut full-length, "Renascent Misanthropy", in production, tone and song structure, "Anatomy Of The Infinite" was recorded at various studios within Australia and mixed at Mølla Lydstudio in Norway with Knut Magne Valle (ARCTURUS). Featuring eight tracks comprising of haunting and dissonant passages interwoven with moments of epic black metal grandeur, the CD resonates with a more primeval, organic musicality throughout.

JOE PERRY Would \'Definitely\' Consider Getting Female Singer To Front AEROSMITH
 Classic Rock Revisited editor Jeb Wright recently conducted an interview with AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry for the "Decades Of Distortion" show on the Arkansas City, Kansas radio station KACY 102.5 FM. The chat is now available for streaming in three parts below.
When asked if there is any truth to Classic Rock magazine's recent report that Perry asked Paul Rodgers if he would be interested in replacing Steven Tyler in AEROSMITH, Joe said, "I mean, obviously that would be a thought, because he is one of my favorite singers of all time, and I got a chance to meet him at Classic Rock Awards [in London] a couple of months ago. But I think that he's a really… him being English from that earlier generation, I don't think that it would work. I mean, it's more than just somebody who can sing. I would love to do — and I probably will — do some tracks with him. As a matter of fact, I think THE JOE PERRY PROJECT is gonna open a tour with them in April in England. The original BAD COMPANY is gonna get back together and they asked me to open the show. So we will be playing together, but I don't think that he'll be… We're young kids to him. I just don't think it's the right chemistry. Technically, I know he's got the chops — I mean, I know he can sing anything he wants — but I think that it's a little bit more than just if he can sing the songs."
Regarding whether AEROSMITH would consider hiring a female singer to replace Tyler, Perry said, "Oh, definitely! No one in the band's brought that up, but sometimes they need a little… You've gotta think out of the box. Oddly enough, a lot of the bands I was in before I had AEROSMITH, I had female singers in the band and it was really good — a lot of great songs. So that's definitely a possibility."

FATES WARNING: Trailer For DVD Portion Of \'Parallels\' Special Edition Available
 A trailer for the DVD portion of the upcoming special edition of "Parallels", the classic 1991 album from the progressive metal band FATES WARNING, can be viewed below. In addition to remastered audio, there will be a second audio disc of live and demo material. Due on March 16, the package will also include a DVD with nearly three hours of material, including a complete live show from the 1992 "Parallels" tour and a documentary on the making of "Parallels" which includes live, studio, and current day interview footage with all the band members, Terry Brown (producer) and Brian Slagel (CEO of Metal Blade Records).
Commented vocalist Ray Alder: "I think ['Parallels' is] one of the best albums we ever put out and I m happy that fans have the chance to take a second look at this important record. The lineup, the songs and the cover art all came together to make a great package when originally recorded and the bonus DVD really adds a fresh perspective to the album."
The "Parallels" lineup of FATES WARNING — Ray Alder (vocals), Jim Matheos (guitar), Frank Aresti (guitar), Joe DiBiase (bass), and Mark Zonder (drums) — will play an exclusive show in Los Angeles at the Avalon on March 19. As an added bonus, there will be a special VIP ticket which allows the ticket holder one-hour early access to the venue and a pre-show meet-and-greet with the band.

SLASH: U.K. \'Fan Pack\' Detailed
 In the U.K., "Slash" will see Roadrunner Records enter into a unique and innovative association with a U.K. media partner — the special-interest media group, Future. In a brand new concept in record distribution the standard album release will be preceded by a "fan pack," in which the Roadrunner Records album will be bundled together with a highly-collectable special issue of Future Publishing's Classic Rock magazine dedicated to Slash's career. The Slash "Fan Pack" featuring his debut solo album from Roadrunner Records, along with a 132-page "Classic Rock Presents: Slash" special, will have a cover price of £14.99 and will be available on magazine newsstands nationwide, in over 3,000 non-conventional music retail outlets such as WHSmith, all supermarket chains and many independent high street newsagents.

SPIRALARMS: New Song Available For Streaming
 SPIRALARMS, the San Francisco Bay Area-based band featuring Craig Locicero (FORBIDDEN, ex-MANMADEGOD) on guitar, Tim Narducci (ex-SYSTEMATIC) on vocals, Chris "Cornbread" Lombardo on bass, Brad Barth on keyboards, Greg Narducci on rhythm guitar and Ron Redeen on drums, has posted a new song, "Blood And Wine", on the group's MySpace page. The track comes off SPIRALARMS' full-length debut, "Highest Society", which will be released later in the year through Luxury Buzz, the new label started by Narducci and Barth. WE ARE THE FALLEN To Release Debut Album In May
 WE ARE THE FALLEN — the new band featuring original EVANESCENCE members Ben Moody (guitar) and John LeCompt (guitar) and Rocky Gray (drums) along with "American Idol" powerhouse vocalist Carly Smithson — will release its debut album on May 11 via Universal Republic Records. The group's first single, "Bury Me Alive" ( cover), has just been made available exclusively via the digital domain.
WE ARE THE FALLEN will make its live debut on March 23 at at Kings College in London, England. A 28-city U.S. tour as the support act for H.I.M. will launch on March 26 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
WE ARE THE FALLEN was officially unveiled during a press conference on June 22, 2009 in Hollywood, California. The group also performed a two-song set consisting of "Bury Me Alive", and a rendition of EVANESCENCE's "Going Under".
"This all happened by accident," Smithson — who sang EVANESCENCE's "Bring Me to Life" during the 2008 "Idols Live" tour— told USA Today. She's friends with Moody's housemate, Monique Morrison. "I met him once or twice (at the house) before the band thing," said Smithson, who had been working on a solo project.
Smithson doesn't see herself as replacing EVANESCENCE singer Amy Lee. "Amy let the boys go," she told USA Today. "We just started a new band, called THE FALLEN. It's got really nothing to do with EVANESCENCE." WE ARE THE FALLEN initially may perform a few EVANESCENCE songs live, she said, "but we're pretty much focused on new music. You have an amazing writing team here, and amazing musicians."
"Our voices are completely different," she said of Lee. "This music is, obviously, the players from EVANESCENCE, but Marty's bringing a different flavor from what he does. I'm bringing a different flavor from what I do, and Ben has completely explored many different genres over the last few years. It's not EVANESCENCE anymore. It's huge. It's big, big, big songs that I can wail my ass off on, because that's what I love to do."
In an interview with Billboard.com, Moody stated about his former band, "There's not really an EVANESCENCE now. It's [singer] Amy Lee playing as EVANESCENCE with a bunch of other guys hired to play our parts. And she's amazing — an incredible front person, a great songwriter, an incredible singer. There's no reason we can't both exist in the world. Musically, we're going in completely different directions; 'The Open Door' (EVANESCENCE's 2006 album) sounds nothing like WE ARE THE FALLEN."
The energetic creative engine behind the launch of EVANESCENCE, Moody and the other members of WE ARE THE FALLEN found a true partner in Smithson, who always envisioned a band environment as her dream move following "Idol". Moody, who left the platinum-plus breakthrough metal act in 2003, has since co-written major hits for Chris Daughtry and Kelly Clarkson, among others.
Carly Smithson was a sixth place finisher during Season 7 of the landmark television series "American Idol", duly recognized for having one of the hit shows most loyal fan bases. The fiery singer's "elimination" sent shockwaves through the "Idol" blogger nation, with a critic for Entertainment Weekly even calling her dismissal "an embarrassing lapse in judgment." Her acclaimed performances on the 2008 "Idols Live" tour confirmed her stature as a preeminent female rock powerhouse.

Fans Will Help OZZY OSBOURNE Decide New Album Title
 Fans let Ozzy Osbourne know they weren't too keen on "Soul Sucka", the tentative title of his upcoming album, so the Prince of Darkness is planning on naming the effort something else, and he told us he's going to turn to the fans for their help.
"This time, before I even announce what I'm going to call it, I'm going to get a list of names and post it on my web site and find out which people like the best," Ozzy revealed exclusively to VH1 Radio Networks' Dave Basner.
Ozzy told The Pulse of Radio that the 10th solo studio effort of his career is "very heavy. It's a cross between — it's kind of like a SABBATH/Ozzy album, you know. It's kind of, it wasn't meant to, I didn't plan on doing it but that's the way it unfolded. A lot of it's very, very heavy. I just hope people like it. I love it."
The new set is due out in July.

THE MAN-EATING TREE: Debut Album Title Revealed
 THE MAN-EATING TREE, the new atmospheric metal band featuring former SENTENCED drummer Vesa Ranta alongside current/former members of POISONBLACK, REFLEXION and EMBRAZE, has set "Vine" as the title of its debut album, tentatively due in September 2010. New CRADLE TO GRAVE Frontman Rushed To Hospital After Contracting H1N1 Virus
 On January 23, 2010, vocalist/bassist Donavan "Demon" Mason of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada metallers CRADLE TO GRAVE was rushed to Vancouver's UBC Hospital after he was unresponsive to his family attempting to wake him up.
Mason is blind and suffers from advanced diabetes, which can cause his immune system to shut down periodically. His family and bandmates suspected that he was just battling a bad case of the flu, but upon arrival at the hospital doctors diagnosed Mason with a severe case of the H1N1 virus. The medical staff at UBC Hospital were able to bring Mason back, but warned family and friends that he had been near death and had they waited a few more hours, the case could have turned tragic. Mason is now recovering at home while CRADLE TO GRAVE takes a break from recording its new album.
The veteran band — which features in its ranks Denis "Sasquatch" Barthe of AGGRESSION and Matt Fowler of ASSAULT/KARRION — just completed pre-production with producer Clay Haluk (INFERNAL MAJESTY, AGGRESSION) and has entered Screen Machine Studios in Vancouver to record the follow-up to 2008's "Texas Medicine". | 0 | |

THE OCEAN: New Album Details Revealed
 THE OCEAN's upcoming albums are going to be entitled "Heliocentric" and "Anthropocentric". They are due for April and October 2010 releases.
The concept at the base of both albums is a critique of Christianity from different philosophical and personal angles.
While the songs, art and lyrics of "Heliocentric" tell the story of the rise of the heliocentric world view and its effects on Christian belief from medieval times to Darwin and Dawkins, "Anthropocentric" challenges the views of creationists and other modern fundamentalists who still believe that the earth is at the center of the universe.

Musically, "Heliocentric" covers the largest range of dynamics and styles to date: "There are a few really calm songs with mainly piano and vocals, as well as some crushing heavy tunes. There is a very special atmosphere to it that pervades the album," comments guitarist Jonathan Nido.
"Our new vocalist, Loic Rossetti, has immensely widenened the musical spectrum of this band and there are some songs on the album that even those people who have conceived of this band as being unpredictable and daring would have never imagined," adds Robin Staps. "But this is exactly what makes it a 150% THE OCEAN album".
"Heliocentric" continues where the Proterozoic half of the "Precambrian" album left off, with dense, epic songs and big orchestrations. "Anthropocentric" is going to be a bit more straightforward rocking and technical, whilst tapping the full dynamic range from acoustic pieces to eclectic heaviness as well.
The albums were mainly recorded in the mountainous isolation of La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, the highest city of Europe. The band decided to record and mix the album with the band's house sound engineer Julien Fehlmann. "We wanted to be in control of every single detail, and we have an amazing studio at hand here." the group explains. "Soundwise this is by far the best-sounding album we have done to date".

SODOM: \'Agent Orange\' Re-Release Delayed
 Due to manufacturing problems, the re-release of "Agent Orange", the classic 1989 album from German thrashers SODOM, has been pushed back to March 1 from the previously announced February 1.
The CD will come in a high-class digipack and will include a bonus disc containing six bonus tracks. The extensive new booklet includes all lyrics, rare photos and liner notes by bassist/vocalist Thomas "Angelripper" Such. The LP will come as a double gatefold album with printed inner sleeves and three bonus live tracks.

DEMON HUNTER: New Song Available For Streaming
 "The World Is A Thorn", the new album from Seattle-based Christian metallers DEMON HUNTER, is scheduled for release on March 9. The band's fifth album follows the landmark documentary "45 Days", last year's "Live In Nashville" collection and a catalog of landmark releases that have made the band one of the most important in the genre.
"The World Is A Thorn" was produced by the band's longtime collaborator Aaron Sprinkle (ACCEPTANCE, ANBERLIN, THE ALMOST) and mixed by powerhouse producer Jason Suecof (ALL THAT REMAINS, TRIVIUM). THINE EYES BLEED Announces New Guitarist, Prepares To Record
 Canadian thrashers THINE EYES BLEED have issued the following update:
"First and foremost, we are still a band and have not called it a day. Our biggest task in doing this was to once again find the right fifth man. We have had a rotating guitarist for far too long.
"Don't get me wrong — we have been fortunate in having some talented people fill the slot.
"When we began putting the wheels back on the truck, so to speak, we made the decision to find someone closer to home, both musically and regionally.
"Jimmy Reid will always be our brother. We love and miss him and have nothing but respect for him. That being said, we have found someone else to fill the void. With that, we welcome Nigel Curley (EXCRUCIATING THOUGHTS, ATAXIA) into the mix.
"We been jamming with Nigel for the past few months and working on new stuff. We have a bunch of new material ready to go.
"We are scheduled to record March 12th with Siegfried Meier. We are all very excited and can't wait to get down to business. Shows to follow."
THINE EYES BLEED's latest, self-titled album was released in April 2008 via The End Records. The band has since parted ways with the label.
The group re-released its 2005 debut for The End Records, entitled "In the Wake of Separation", in May of 2006. The CD included the bonus track "Better off Dead" (previously available only in Japan) and the video for "Cold Victim".  Taking a darker and more blasphemous approach to their already visceral sound, California-based deathcore band CARNIFEX will unleash "Hell Chose Me" on February 16 via Victory Records. Blood-curdling screams, guttural growls, double-bass fury, and razor-sharp guitar riffs make for sinister and brutal work.
As the follow-up to 2008's death metal masterpiece "The Diseased And The Poisoned", CARNIFEX's third album takes aggression to the next level. Influenced by the likes of CANNIBAL CORPSE, SUFFOCATION, and THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, this San Diego quintet really knows how to bring the brutality. Growing in notoriety, CARNIFEX has been featured in Kerrang!, Outburn and Revolver magazines.
"From when we started to now, a lot has changed," states vocalist Scott Lewis. "The progression we've gone through is staggering. With the confidence we have in this record, we know we will be making new fans.

SHINING Bassist Quits
 Bassist Andreas Larsen has left Swedish extreme metallers SHINING so that he can concentrate on his studies. The band states, "He has been a great asset to the band during his time with us, and a good companion, and we wish him well for the future."
The group adds, "A new bass player has already been chosen, and we will be announcing more about this shortly."
SHINING has completed work on its seventh album, "Shining VII - Född Förlorare" (English translation: "Born Loser"), for a March/April release via Indie Recordings.

WHITESNAKE: No Touring In 2010; New Album Due Next Year
 According to a posting on WHITESNAKE's official MySpace page, the band "will not be touring in all of 2010 because they are working on several projects. Any information to the contrary is WRONG." Vocalist/leader David Coverdale adds, "My main focus, of course, will be writing and recording a new WHITESNAKE studio album for spring 2011."

THEATRE OF TRAGEDY Taps LOWDOWN Bassist For Upcoming Tour

The clip was directed by the team of Ian McFarland and Mike Pecci for Boston-based, Emmy-nominated Killswitch Productions.
