METALLICA Is \'Profoundly Saddened By Discovery Of MORGAN DANA HARRINGTON\'s Body\'
 METALLICA has issued the following statement regarding the news that human remains discovered Tuesday, January 26 on a southern Albermarle County, Virginia, farm are confirmed to be those of missing Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington, 20, of Roanoke County, who disappeared from the band's October 17, 2009 concert in Charlottesville, Virgnia:
"We are profoundly saddened by the news of the discovery of Morgan Dana Harrington's body .
"Our most sincere condolences go out to the family and friends of Morgan Dana Harrington, the 20-year-old Virginia Tech student who was last seen while attending our concert at the John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville, Virginia. Sadly, Morgan's body was found yesterday ending her family's three-month vigil hoping and praying for her safe return.
"Mere words cannot express the anguish and grief that we know her parents Dan and Gil are feeling, and our thoughts are with them.
"If you have any information at all about Morgan's death, please contact the Virginia State Police at (434) 352-3425 or the UVA Police at (434) 352-3467 or police@virginia.edu."
Now, it appears, the Harringtons finally have their answer. Police say they have now switched their focus to finding out how Morgan Harrington ended up in the remote farm and who put her there.
During the concert, Harrington left her friends to use the restroom, police said. When she did not return, they called her cell phone at 8:48 p.m. She told them she was outside the arena and could not get back in because of its policy, police said, but told them not to worry about her and that she would find a ride home.
There are restrooms inside the arena, police said, and police do not know how or why Harrington got outside. Witnesses who saw her outside the arena said she did not appear to be with anyone, police said.
About 9:30 p.m. that night, witnesses reported seeing a person matching Harrington's description walking on a nearby bridge, police said. No further sightings were reported.
Harrington's purse, with her identification and cell phone inside, was found the following day in an overflow parking lot near the arena, police said. A friend had driven Harrington's car to the concert, she said, and was still in possession of the car keys when they got separated.
Harrington was reported missing the day after the concert, when she did not show up at her parents' home to study for a math exam with her father.
Working with police and the Texas-based Laura Recovery Center, the Harringtons organized community searches, saying they would not give up hope that their daughter would be found.
A $150,000 reward has been offered for information leading to Harrington's whereabouts, police said. Of that, Metallica contributed $50,000.
The couple was joined at a news conference after her disappearance by Ed Smart, whose daughter Elizabeth was abducted in 2002. She returned home nine months later, after police say they found her in the custody of Brian David Mitchell and his wife, Wanda Barzee.
Harrington said he reached out to Smart last week to seek advice on how to go through the disappearance of a child.
Harrington was wearing a black Pantera T-shirt, a black miniskirt, black tights and black boots when last seen.

BRET MICHAELS: New Solo Single Release Moved Forward
 The release date of POISON frontman Bret Michaels's new solo single, "Nothing To Lose" (formerly "Fall On Me"), has been moved forward two weeks to February 2. It will be made available via all digital media outlets, incuding iTunes, Napster and Rhapsody.
Michaels recently posted a "demo" version of "Nothing To Lose", which was mixed by Jeff Juliano, who has previously worked with DAVE MATTHEWS, JOHN MAYER and SHINEDOWN.
After completing the highly successful POISON tour with DEF LEPPARD this summer, Michaels went back on the road solo, finishing a fall run of his "Rock of Love" tour. At the moment Bret is focused on completing his autobiography titled "Roses and Thorns", a raw look into the reality of living out his rock and roll fantasy. The autobiography is to be released by Simon & Schuster in the spring of 2010.
"There are many reasons Bret is just as successful and relevant 20 years after he emerged into the world of American pop culture," states Michaels's spokesperson, Janna Elias. BONDED BY BLOOD To Enter Studio Next Week
 Pomona, California thrashers BONDED BY BLOOD will enter the studio next week to begin recording the long-awaited follow-up to their 2008 debut, "Feed The Beast". On February 1, the young thrash disciples will begin their sessions in Phoenix, Arizona at Highland Recorders. They will later migrate to nearby Stealth Sound for additional work. Producing the record will be Ralph Patlan (WHITE WIZZARD, MEGADETH, UFO).
The members of BONDED BY BLOOD cannot wait to show the world how much of a step forward they've made with their new material. Frontman Jose "Aladdin" Barrales states, "The album is a bit more thought out than our prior attempt." Guitarist Alex Lee adds, "this album is a lot more technical and heavier than our previous."
BONDED BY BLOOD's new CD will mark the recording debut of new bassist Jerry Garcia. "I'm really excited to record my debut album with BONDED BY BLOOD," he says. "With Ralph on our side, the outcome will be a heavy, technical speed metal explosion in your ears."
That explosion is exactly what Ralph Patlan is setting out to accomplish in producing the album. No stranger to taking artists to the limits of their potential, he is thrilled to start working with BONDED BY BLOOD. "I've heard the album demos and I'm very excited to start working with them," he says. "These guys are on point and these songs will have major balls to them."

NECRODEATH: More \'Old Skull\' Details Revealed
 Long-running Italian extreme metallers NECRODEATH will celebrate their 25th anniversary by releasing a covers album, entitled "Old Skull". The CD, which is due on February 5, features guest appearances by members of influential Italian thrashers BULLDOZER and former members of SCHIZO.
"Old Skull" was recorded at Quake Sound Studios in Rapallo (Ge) and was produced by the bandmembers themselves. It was mixed by Giuseppe Orlando at Outer Sound Studios in Rome and was mastered by Simone Mularoni at Fear Studios in Ravenna. The cover artwork was created by Davide Nadalin and Nerve Design.

CONFESSOR Guitarist Launches AGE OF DESPAIR
 Guitarist Shawn McCoy of the Raleigh, North Carolina-based underground legends CONFESSOR has announced the formation of his new project, AGE OF DESPAIR. Featuring Brian Zuccaro (vocals), Marcus Williams (guitar), Ali Lugo (bass), and the band's latest addition, Abdala Saghir (drums), the group has secured management and is shopping for a label and booking agent that will put the band to work. Shawn states, "We will enter the studio in early February and hope to tour non-stop through 2011."

FLAMER Changes Name To FIREAL
 FLAMER — the Finnish band launched by former BLEAK vocalist/songwriter Caleb — has changed its name to FIREAL. The group's debut album, "Molotov Cocktails", is due later in the year via an as-yet-undetermined record label.

SALEM: \'Playing God And Other Short Stories\' Trailer Available
 A trailer for "Playing God And Other Short Stories", the seventh full-length album from Israeli extreme metallers SALEM, can be viewed below. Also available is footage of the band's guitarist, Nir Gutraiman, laying down his tracks for the song "Playing God".
"Playing God And Other Short Stories" will be released later in the year via Pulverised Records. The CD was recorded at Harold Studios in Israel and was mastered by UE Nastasi at Sterling Sound in New York City.

Regarding the album artwork for "Playing God And Other Short Stories" (see below), SALEM drummer Nir Nakav states, "The cover is based around Adinkra, a West African symbol system. The symbol we used is called Gye Nyame and it means 'except for God.' This unique and beautiful symbol is ubiquitous in Ghana. It is by far the most popular for use in decoration and also a reflection on the deeply religious character of the Ghanaian people."
SALEM recently took part in a brand new promo photo shoot related to the concept of the upcoming, with the entire band donning "superhero costumes."
Commented Nakav: "The opening track on the new album, 'Drums of the Dead', is inspired by a Hellboy graphic story by the same name. It is the first time that Abe Sapien goes on a solo mission and in the promo picture I am wearing a shirt that carries the insignia of his bureau. Remaining true to form, the other guys in the band took on characters that 'play God'; Superman with his ability to reverse time (that is why he can be seen in three different places at the same time on the promo shot) and the Punisher who kills evildoers.
"As the lyricist of SALEM, I feel obligated to add that this album will mark the first time in the band's history that we are not touching on political subjects. The album texts are all inspired by either stories I read or movies I watched in the past couple of years.
"I think that after a quarter of century, it is important for a band to keep moving forwards, feel fresh, innovative and vibrant. I believe that once the album is out, the world will witness a tighter than ever band with a new twist."

POISONBLACK Reveal Artwork For Of Rust And Bones; Comment On Recordings
 Finland's POISONBLACK will release their new album, entitled Of Rust And Bones ( cover), on the following dates via Century Media Records:

The band comments on the recordings of the successor to the chart-winning A Dead Heavy Day (2008) with producer Hiili Hiilesmaa as follows: “The main goal was, while recording, to have nothing more or less than 2 guitars, drums, bass and keyboards with vocals on top. Basically, record how we sound as a band. A lot of music was recorded "live” with everyone playing the song instead of Tarmo playing drums with only one guitar and a click track. A couple of songs were played totally naked. It’s amazing how you really get into your instrument and the song when you don’t have any clothes on... Hiili also played a big part in getting us in the right mood for each song. Lyrically the album is dealing with the uncontrollable craving for alcohol and boredom, frustration, hate, love and the fact that eventually everything will go down the drain."

HEIDEVOLK - Uit Oude Grond Artwork Revealed
 Netherlands-based folk metallers HEIDEVOLK have revealed the artwork for their forthcoming album, Uit Oude Grond (click image at left to enlarge).
The band recently issued the following update in regards to Uit Oude Grond ("From Old Soil"):
"March 26th, Heidevolk's new album, Uit Oude Grond, will be released by Napalm Records. After all the hard work we're eager see it unleashed, and to ease the waiting we have posted a new track from the upcoming album on our MySpace. It’s called ‘Nehalennia’ and will give you a taste of things to come!
The official release party will be held April 2nd at LuxorLive in Heidevolks hometown of Arnhem. Joining us this special night will be XIV DARK CENTURIES and GRIMM."
Uit Oude Grond ("From Old Soil") features eleven songs telling different stories of myth and legend from Gelderland and beyond. These stories from old soil are captured in raging metal songs as well as folky tunes.

GOROD Recording New EP
 French death-tech metallers GOROD have entered the studio to begin recording material for a new EP, to be released before the summer. The disc will include a 14-minute-long new song, one acoustic track, one cover and two re-recorded old songs from the band's first two albums. The EP will also contain a video portion consisting of an entire live performance recorded on October 31, 2009 at the Halloween Invasion at RockSchool Barbey in Bordeaux, France.

ETERNAL LEGACY: New Album Title Revealed
 Cleveland, Ohio-based metallers ETERNAL LEGACY have set "Seeking No Peace" as the title of their new album, due later in the year via Auburn Records. Gitarist/vocalist Jason Vanek will once again handle the production duties at the band's own Mercinary Studios in Cleveland.
In other news, the band's second and current album, "Lifeless Alive", will be released for worldwide distribution via Auburn Records in February. The album had been released on a limited basis locally last November.
"This next album is coming together very quickly," says guitarist Shaun Vanek. "Right after we mixed and mastered 'Lifeless Alive', we started writing another one. We have five songs ready and two more in the works.
"Tim (Frederick, bass) was added to the band after 'Lifeless Alive' had been finished. His energy and talent inspired us to kick out some more new music. The energy within the band and this next album is over the top.
"ETERNAL LEGACY is in domination mode. We are working non-stop to bring the heavy metal we love to all of our friends. We do not want to be a band that releases a new album every three or four years. We'd like to keep the new music coming out at a steady pace like bands used to do back in the '70s.
"Due to events and changes ETERNAL LEGACY has been through in the past couple of months, we decided to call this album 'Seeking No Peace'. It will be more of the heavier, traditional metal sound we have returned to writing as Jason and I were doing in our early MERCINARY band days."
ETERNAL LEGACY is the youngest band on the Auburn Records roster. Their first release, "The Coming Of The Tempest", was released in 2007.
The group has been confirmed for this year's edition of the Wacken Open Air festival, set to take place August 5-7, 2010 in Wacken, Germany.
"Having the opportunity to participate in the world's biggest heavy metal festival is an honor and a gift," says Jason Vanek. "The kind of energy that comes from the fans is what drives and inspires me to write and play music. This is what I live for. I'm fired up and ready to kick some serious ass!" | 0 | |

MOLLY HATCHET To Release \'Justice\' In May
 The motto of the new MOLLY HATCHET release, "Justice" (due on May 31 via SPV/Steamhammer), was coined by guitarist Bobby Ingram years ago. "Southern rock ain't no fake or hype!" was his comment on the basic philosophy of the band from Jacksonville, Florida. This basic honesty, which runs like a thread through the band's career, remains one of MOLLY HATCHET's outstanding features to this day. In 2010, the group's six musicians play every single note with lifeblood and conviction, giving their countless fans hand-made rock music that operates totally without computers or digital samples.
Recorded in December 2009 and January 2010 by engineer Tommy Newton and produced by Bobby Ingram in Germany, "Justice" consists of 12 songs in total and is a representative cross-section of over thirty years of band experience. Cornerstones on this album are the title track, which — according to Ingram — is a successor to epic songs like "Fall Of The Peacemakers" and "The Journey", and the song "Fly On Wings Of Angels", which the band wrote for young murdered victim Somer Thompson. For Ingram, "Justice" is a very special album as it reflects the most important aspect of a rock act: "We do what we have to do: we play music and take it on the road."
The current HATCHET lineup consists of Bobby Ingram (guitar), Phil McCormack (vocals), John Galvin (keyboards), Dave Hlubek (guitars), Tim Lindsey (bass) and Shawn Beamer (drums). Simultaneously with the release of "Justice" MOLLY HATCHET will announce its upcoming extensive world tour. Ingram states, "When we're on tour we meet the most passionate Southern rock fans everywhere. We feel that we've succeeded in catching this passion on 'Justice', showing the world that Southern rock and MOLLY HATCHET still operate on full throttle."
