AXEL RUDI PELL To Release Sign Of The Times Album In April; Details Revealed

The figures speak for themselves: more than 1.7 million albums sold worldwide, 2.6 million streams for the top 10 predecessor Knights Call (2018). Now Axel Rudi Pell is about to release Sign Of The Times, his 18th studio album in 31 years.

But quantity doesn't matter - it’s the quality that counts. His consistency enjoys more and more respect and appreciation within the hard & heavy community. Not every time, but with increasing frequency you hear the term ‘cult‘ when it comes to Axel Rudi Pell. Being the man that he is, he cannot rely on that idea, but "if someone is that successful over such a long period of time, he might as well deserve it.”

The 59-year-old knows what he’s capable of, he is still able to surprise himself, like on Sign Of The Times. "I don‘t know why, but this time I finished the songs at least a month ahead of my deadline.”

With the double bass assault "Gunfire", Pell has delivered the best opener of the last ten years or so; "Bad Reputation" is one straightforward melodic rocker; the mighty epic title track was created in a pretty unusual way during a sound check on the last tour; the up-tempo track "The End Of The Line" impresses with a long, but undisputedly catchy chorus, and the ballad "As Blind As A Fool Can Be" is as touching as ever.

But the second part of the album is the most interesting and surprising because Pell breaks with his own traditions several times: "Wings Of The Storm” is a modern-day homage to the Coverdale/Hughes-led line-up of Deep Purple, but delivered in Jimi Hendrix style. The intense "Waiting For Your Call" sees one of Gioeli’s best vocal performances, while the reggae intro on "Living In A Dream" left his bandmates in awe. "Into The Fire" ends the album in the typical, well-known epic Pell way, but is shorter than on the previous efforts. That is one of the differences: the solos are not over the top, but song-orientated and much more melodic, there is no hint of a lack of quality on the whole album.

And you can tell that Axel Rudi Pell is still able to surprise himself AND his fans. What more could you ask for when it comes to a decent birthday present? Axel Rudi Pell is turning 60 in June. There is no better way to celebrate life, right? Watch the sign of the times!

Sign Of The Times will be released on April 24 via SPV/Steamhammer in the following configurations:

AFTERBIRTH Feat. HELMET, ARTIFICIAL BRAIN Members Streaming “Never Ending Teeth” Single

Pioneering brutal band Afterbirth have unveiled the second single off of their forthcoming sophomore album Four Dimensional Flesh. The track, entitled "Never Ending Teeth", showcases the album's crushing progressive dissonance and unrelenting extremity. The album is due for release on March 13 via Unique Leader Records.

The 11 track album finds the venerable Long Island group - which features members of Helmet and Artificial Brain - continuing to push their complex, progressive, and devastatingly heavy take on extreme metal forward into new realms of musical nuance and songwriting prowess. The effort was recorded by Colin Marston (Gorguts, Artificial Brain, Imperial Triumphant) with artwork for the effort coming from Kishor Haulenbeek.

Born from a grueling three year writing process, Four Dimensional Flesh shows Afterbirth at the height of their powers and further cements their place in the pantheon of underground death metal, which they have held since their formation in 1993.

The group commented, “The material on our second album, 'Four Dimensional Flesh', is the end result of a creative process that started in late 2016 and concluded in the summer of 2019. It is a body of work that is loosely conceptual in nature and continues to expand upon ideas put forth on the debut while also introducing some new elements for the listener.

"Four Dimensional Flesh once again features cover art by artist Kishor Haulenbeek and is the band’s first recording with engineer Colin Marston. This album, not unlike the rigorous process the band members engaged in while creating it, will be what we hope is a profound musical journey undertaken by any and all who venture to listen.

"The members of Afterbirth believe, with every confidence, that 'Four Dimensional Flesh' is the next logical step in the band’s evolution. It is an album that most certainly contains some of our most brutal, intense and heavy music to date, but it also embodies some of our most impassioned, nuanced and forward-thinking material as well.”

Physical pre-order bundles for Four Dimensional Flesh are available here.

Four Dimensional Flesh tracklisting:

"Beheading The Buddha"
"Spiritually Transmitted Disease"
"Girl In Landscape"
"Everything In Its Path"
"Never Ending Teeth"
"Minimum Safe Distance"
"Rooms To Nowhere"
"Swallowing Spiders"
"Dreaming Astral Body"
"Blackhole Kaleidoscope"
"Four Dimensional Flesh"

TOMORROW’S RAIN Prepares New Album Featuring Guests From MY DYING BRIDE, PARADISE LOST, ARCH ENEMY, MOONSPELL, ROTTING CHRIST And More

After playing intensive shows over the last two years with acts like Paradise Lost, Kreator, Tribulation, Swallow The Sun, Draconian, Rotting Christ, Tiamat and Orphaned Land, Tel Aviv's Tomorrow's Rain have signed to AOP Records and are ready to deliver the band's debut album, Hollow, later this year.

The band has revealed the album will feature an array of guest musicians including Aaron Stainthrope (My Dying Bride), Greg Mackintosh (Paradise Lost), Jeff Loomis (Arch Enemy/Nevermore), Fernando Ribeiro (Moonspell), Spiros Antoniou (Septicflesh), Sakis Tolis (Rotting Christ), Mikko  Kotamaki (Swallow The Sun), Kobi Farhi (Orphaned Land), Anders Jacobsson (Draconian), Shlomi Bracha (Mashina) and Lisa Cuthbert (live session vocalist for The Sisters Of Mercy).

Listen to a demo version of the upcoming song, “In The Corner Of A Dead End Street”:

The band’s debut release has resulted in a highly interesting record, embracing influences from the 80's gothic rock/post punk (Fields Of The Nephilim, The Sisters Of Mercy, The Mission and similar) hand in hand with doom/death touches from the genre's golden years.

"We tried to write and create the album we would like to buy as fans,” stated vocalist Yishai Sweartz.

The album was produced, mixed and mastered by Dori Bar Or in Tel Aviv. Artwork was created by Ziv Lenzner.

Tomorrow's Rain was formed by Yishai Sweartz and The L.A Mastering Engineer Maor Appelbaum (Mayhem, Sabaton, Cynic, Abbath), present and past band members have previously played in acts such as Nail Within (Listenable), Distorted (Candlelight), Salem (Morbid Rec/System Shock) and Orphaned Land (Century Media).

Band lineup:

Yishai Sweartz - Vocals

Listen To New STONE TEMPLE PILOTS Song 'Miles Away' From First-Ever Acoustic Album, 'Perdida'

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS have released "Miles Away", the latest single from "Perdida", their forthcoming first-ever acoustic album. You can check it out below.

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS singer Jeff Gutt told SPIN about "Miles Away": "That was something Robert [DeLeo, bass] brought in and he was excited about it. When Robert comes into the studio excited about an idea, you listen. So we were all ears."

According to Gutt, Robert had already come up with a title for the tune and started playing the melody. "After that, the song kind of just fell into place, with all of us working it out," he explained. "I really gravitated towards it because I can relate it to so many things that have happened in my life. So I tried to put a personal touch on it where I could."

"Perdida" will be released on February 7. The band recorded the disc at drummer Eric Kretz's Bomb Shelter Studios. STP utilized a variety of instruments that haven't been associated with the group in the past, including flute, alto saxophone, guitarrón, viola, cello and vintage keyboards. STONE TEMPLE PILOTS will also launch an acoustic tour next month.

"You have to live it to write it," said guitarist Dean DeLeo. "And this record is a reflection of where we've been recently."

Robert said "Perdida" (Spanish for 'loss') shows how music has helped them process grief, search for meaning and, ultimately, create something beautiful from the pain. "When I've gone through things in my life, I've found that sitting down and having an honest conversation with my guitar is the best therapy."

"Recording an acoustic album like 'Perdida' is something the band has wanted to do for many years," said Kretz. "We performed on 'MTV Unplugged' in 1993, and we usually play acoustic mini-sets on tour, so when Robert and Dean started playing their new songs for us during our tour last year, we knew right away they would be perfect for an acoustic album."

Writing lyrics for an introspective album like "Perdida" meant exposing himself like never before, said Gutt, who joined the band in 2017. "It's an emotionally honest album and I needed to approach it that way for these songs to resonate. I had to let myself be as vulnerable writing the lyrics as Dean and Robert were writing the music."

To record "Perdida", the quartet assembled at Kretz's Bomb Shelter Studios in February 2019. The key to making the album, Dean explained, was finding a way to say more with less. "Everything you hear serves a purpose, from the space in the arrangements to the different instruments. We only added things that served the songs."

As a result, there are instruments on "Perdida" that you don't normally hear on an STP record, like flute ("I Didn't Know The Time") alto saxophone ("Years") guitarrón ("Miles Away") and enough vintage keyboards to make Rick Wakeman jealous. "We've done similar things before — like the trumpet solo on 'Adhesive' from 'Tiny Music' — but never on such a large scale," Robert said. "Working with other musicians on this album was such a joy because it gave us a rare opportunity to hear our songs through someone else's ears."

That approach shines on the title track, where a nylon-string guitar takes the lead as keyboard, violin, viola and cello ebb and flow behind Gutt's soaring vocal on the chorus: "Oh perdida come and go/Stay with me tonight/But in the morning please be gone."

"She's My Queen" is another highpoint on the band's sonic adventure. Built around an Indian drone and carried along by a gently pulsing beat, the song casts a hypnotic spell that's punctuated by background singers, flute and Marxophone — a special kind of hammered dulcimer from the 1920s.

The songs that open and close "Perdida" — "Fare Thee Well" and "Sunburst", respectively — are fitting bookends, Gutt said. "They really capture the emotional journey that takes place on this album. It starts with saying goodbye on 'Fare Thee Well' and ends with a new beginning on 'Sunburst'. It's a melancholy record, but it ends on a hopeful note."

As it happens, those two tracks also spotlight facets of the DeLeo brothers' distinctive songwriting voices. "Fare Thee Well" by Robert pulls you in from the first strum of the guitar and has you singing along after one listen. In Dean's "Sunburst", the melody unfolds gradually, rising and falling multiple times before building to a cathartic guitar-fueled crescendo.

In a recent interview with BackstageAxxess, KISS guitarist Tommy Thayer spoke about the current North American leg of "End Of The Road". The trek features VAN HALEN vocalist David Lee Roth in the support slot.

"First of all, this is a must-see show," Tommy said. "If you haven't ever seen KISS, this is definitely your last opportunity to come to see the show. It's something you never want to miss. At least once in your lifetime, you've gotta see the show. This show is built, as you've seen, it's the biggest one we've ever done and I'm not just hyping it. It's really incredible. We put a lot of time and effort into preparing for this in the first place. It's really paid off. The reviews, the response from fans, everybody across the board has been phenomenal. The shows have been sold out or close to sold out. I think we've played for almost two million people in 110 shows in 2019. The tour is going to go through 2020 and into '21. Our last show is going to be in New York City on July 21, 2021, but we're not announcing what venue it is yet. We have an end date now that we're going to work toward, so that gives a little more perspective to really this is the end of the road and everybody can see this is the schedule moving forward. Now is the time to come see the show. Even if you saw it last year, we're going to come out with new songs in the set starting February 1 on this leg, and revamping and freshening it up for 2020."

In a 2018 interview with Billboard, frontman Paul Stanley suggested it would be unlikely for KISS to play any obscure songs during their farewell tour.

"For all the audience saying 'When are you going to record a new album or will you play a deep cut?' Why? We have 'Detroit Rock City', 'Love Gun', 'Rock And Roll All Nite', 'Shout It Out Loud', 'Firehouse', 'Hotter Than Hell' and the list goes on and on…. There isn't room for some obscure song. Songs that are obscure are obscure for a reason."

He added, "And if we're going to please a handful of diehards, the real crazy diehards, and have 20,000 other people go, 'What's that?' or "Let's go out and get a Coke,' then we are failing the masses. We wouldn't do that."

KISS's current lineup consists of original members Stanley and Gene Simmons, alongside later band additions, Thayer (since 2002) and drummer Eric Singer (on and off since 1991).

Formed in 1973 by Stanley, Simmons, drummer Peter Criss and lead guitarist Ace Frehley, KISS staged its first "farewell" tour in 2000, the last to feature the group's original lineup.

In its 46-year career, KISS has accumulated 23 gold and platinum albums — more than any other U.S. band.

Watch DAVID LEE ROTH Perform In Allentown

VAN HALEN singer David Lee Roth played his second show as the support act for KISS last night (Tuesday, February 4) at the PPL Center in Allentown, Pennsylvania. His 11-song set consisted primarily of his old band's biggest hits, plus "Just Like Paradise", which was the lead single from Roth's second solo album, 1988's "Skyscraper", as well as a couple of covers.

David's setlist was as follows:

01. You Really Got Me (THE KINKS cover)

02. Just Like Paradise

03. Unchained (VAN HALEN song)

04. Panama (VAN HALEn song)

05. Jamie's Cryin' (VAN HALEN song)

06. Tobacco Road (John D. Loudermilk cover)

07. Runnin' With The Devil (VAN HALEN song)

08. California Girls (THE BEACH BOYS cover)

09. Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love (VAN HALEN song)

10. Just A Gigolo / I Ain't Got Nobody (Louis Prima cover)

11. Jump (VAN HALEN song)

Fan-filmed video footage of the concert can be seen below.

Roth told Van Halen News Desk that his band is recreating the sound of VAN HALEN's albums and his own solo work, not VAN HALEN's live performances.

"We do not sound like VAN HALEN live," he said. "You have not heard this. VAN HALEN live is lead guitar, bass, drums, sing. Here, we bring it the way a record brings it. To do that requires two or three guitars. We have five people hollerin'. It's a big rock sound. It's not [1985's] 'Just A Gigolo'. It's not brass band. That was a quickie vacation."

Roth's "Rocks Vegas" Las Vegas residency kicked off in early January and is scheduled to play six more dates in March at the House Of Blues. Backing the 65-year-old singer are lead guitarist Al Estrada from the VAN HALEN tribute band ERUPTION, rhythm guitarist Frankie Lindri, bassist Ryan Wheeler, keyboardist Danny Wagner and drummer Mike Mussleman.

This isn't the first time David has set up shop in Sin City. Back in 1995, Roth completed a Las Vegas engagement at Bally's Hotel and Casino and another short run at MGM Grand.

VAN HALEN has been inactive since it completed its U.S. tour in October 2015 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, California.

Roth recently launched Ink The Original, a skin-care line specifically made to preserve, protect, and highlight tattoos and keep them from fading.

The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund was founded in memory of the legendary rock singer Ronnie James Dio, who lost his life to gastric cancer in 2010. A privately funded 501(c)(3) charity organization dedicated to cancer prevention, research and education, the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund has already raised over $2 million in its short history. Monies raised have been committed to the cancer research work of the T.J. Martell Foundation for Cancer, AIDS and Leukemia Research, the gastric cancer research unit of the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, where Ronnie was treated for gastric cancer during the last six months of his life, and other cancer research projects. Since 2016, the Dio Cancer Fund has also committed funds to support the research of Dr. David Wong and his team at the UCLA School of Dentistry in developing a simple, non-invasive saliva test for the early detection of cancer, which is in keeping with the Fund's mission of cancer prevention, research and education.

Watch PHILIP ANSELMO Sing Never-Before-Performed PANTERA Song 'We'll Grind That Axe For A Long Time'

PHILIP H. ANSELMO & THE ILLEGALS performed the PANTERA song "We'll Grind That Axe For A Long Time" live for the first time during their January 30 concert at Osaka, Japan's Umeda Club Quattro. The track, which is taken from PANTERA's final studio album, 1999's "Reinventing The Steel", had never been played live by the iconic Texan metal band.

Former PANTERA singer Philip Anselmo introduced the song to the Osaka crowd by saying: "These songs always, always, always are a tribute and love to Vinnie Paul and Dime," referring to PANTERA's late drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott and guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott. "PANTERA never played this song that we're about to play — we never played it live. This is the first time we're performing it live ever."

"Hey, this is special," he added. "This is one for the hardcore PANTERA fans."

Last summer, Anselmo spoke to Revolver about his decision to play a number of PANTERA songs during the current tour with his solo band, PHILIP H. ANSELMO & THE ILLEGALS.

"We were about a month out from touring [the second ILLEGALS album, 'Choosing Mental Illness As A Virtue'] when Vince Paul passed away and that was horrific and so unexpected," he said. "It was something that stopped me dead in my tracks. I was in my kitchen and I just dropped to the floor and just had to breathe for a little while. That's when the big plea for us to do more PANTERA songs became irresistible. The tribute had to be then. It had to be right. And I never thought it would be THE ILLEGALS. Clearly the mission for us was to be a sweaty hole-in-the wall death-metal band. I've got to say huge props to them for learning the PANTERA material. They didn't even flinch, man, and just went for it.

"The vibe from most of the shows have been so fucking great, man," he continued. "And what really tickles me is seeing the young bloods out in the audience, freaking out on the PANTERA stuff. And you know it's their parents who got them into PANTERA."

On the topic of whether his PANTERA tribute will continue into the future, or if it's something he is doing right now, Anselmo said: "I'd like it to be just for now. For me, PANTERA was PANTERA and there's no substitute. So playing those songs, I didn't mind doing it for a one-off thing here and there with a group of guys — we used to do it in 'Metal Masters', [with] Kerry King and the ANTHRAX guys. But I wasn't going to learn a set of PANTERA with another band. I didn't feel entitled to do that. It's not like I feel entitled now. I feel now it's necessary."

Up until his death in June 2018, Vinnie remained on non-speaking terms with Anselmo, whom the drummer indirectly blamed for the death of Dimebag, who was his brother.

Vinnie Paul and Dimebag co-founded PANTERA. When PANTERA broke up in 2003, they formed DAMAGEPLAN. On December 8, 2004, while performing with DAMAGEPLAN at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio, Dimebag was shot and killed onstage by a troubled schizophrenic who believed that the members of PANTERA were stealing his thoughts.

Vinnie Paul died of dilated cardiomyopathy, an enlarged heart, as well as severe coronary artery disease. His death was the result of chronic weakening of the heart muscle — basically meaning his heart couldn't pump blood as well as a healthy heart.

Vinnie was buried on June 30, 2018 next to his brother and their mother, Carolyn, at Moore Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Arlington, Texas.

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER To Release 'Verminous' Album In April

On April 17, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER will release its new album, "Verminous", via Metal Blade Records. The disc is described in a press release as the band's most dynamic, rousing and emotional release to date, and it achieves this without compromising one iota of heaviness.

"I think this is the biggest evolutionary leap we've ever taken from one album to the next. We stoked the creative fires with 2017's 'Nightbringers' and it's gone much further now in 'Verminous'," states vocalist Trevor Strnad. "It's a very colorful, moody, and charismatic album that experiments with new sounds and ideas without losing the cutthroat BLACK DAHLIA edge. There is a lot of minutiae to digest. Plenty of delicious little Easter eggs woven into the fabric of each song. Each one is a living, breathing entity that will stand on its own as some of the best music this band has ever created."

The official lyric video for the disc's title track can be seen below.

While the drums were recorded at The Pipeyard in Plymouth, Michigan by ex-bassist and longtime studio guru Ryan "Bart" Williams, the bulk of the album was recorded in New Jersey at guitarist Brandon Ellis's home studio, the Shred Light District, then mixed by Tue Madsen and mastered by Alan Douches. Produced by Ellis and the band, "Verminous" sees BLACK DAHLIA having a greater level of control over every facet of recording than on any previous release, enabling them to tweak and fine-tune all the small details right up until the point they sent it to Madsen in Denmark.

"To say we were anal-retentive would be an understatement," Strnad says. "Tue did an outstanding job. His mix is organic. Classic sounding. Not too slick. It's got an old-school 'real-life' feel to it rather than being the overly polished quantized-to-hell drek that is coming out these days. We wanted the album's sound to have its own personality, and he helped us achieve just that. Finally, Alan did a great job of smoothing out the final details with his mastering. He beefed it up into what you hear now."

The only other outside collaborators with which the band worked were soundscape artist Michael Ghelfi, who provided the sample that opens the record and "sets the pest-ridden vibe", and Juanjo Castellano, who painted the cover.

"It's amazing and classically death metal cover artwork," Strnad says. "I call it an evil underground sewer world, home to the verminous ones. If you look closely you can find all kinds of rats and bugs and critters scattered throughout. The amount of detail Juanjo put in there is second to none."

In support of "Verminous", THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER will first head out to South Africa in March, before hitting the road with TESTAMENT for a North American tour, featuring MUNICIPAL WASTE and MESHIAAK as openers. The band will also return to Europe this summer for the festival season, appearing at Hellfest, Bloodstock Open Air, and more.

In regards to the upcoming USA trek, Strnad comments: "It is a massive honor and pleasure to be considered a worthy peer to the mighty TESTAMENT. Being a fan of theirs since childhood, I have to stop and pinch myself to see if it's a dream or not. Luckily, I'm still awake! To say that we in THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER are excited for this undertaking would be a massive understatement. Not to mention the added pleasure of combining forces with the non-stop energy of MUNICIPAL WASTE. Too fucking sick! These three entities together will be levelling venues across North America and leaving no head un-banged! This is it! The stars have aligned! Prepare to fucking thrash!"

STRYPER Frontman Defends This Year's SUPER BOWL Halftime Show: It Was 'Very Entertaining To Watch'

STRYPER frontman Michael Sweet has defended this year's Super Bowl halftime performance, saying it was "pretty amazing" and "very entertaining to watch."

Sunday's (February 2) halftime show saw Shakira and Jennifer Lopez teaming up for a history-making performance that honored the Latino community. Shakira sang a medley of some of her hit songs before swapping out with Jennifer Lopez, who danced and sang some of her classics. The dued then joined forces to end the performance, joined by J.Lo's daughter and a children's choir.

Earlier today (Monday, February 3), Sweet took to his social media to write: "I thought the halftime performance was pretty amazing. Whether it was your style of music or not, it was quite the production and very entertaining to watch. I'm not sure why we feel obligated to give negative feedback about everything we see and or hear these days but I must say that I miss the old saying 'if you don't have something nice to say don't say anything at all.' @jlo and @shakira really did an amazing job! Next year? @stryper performing 'Battle Hymn', 'God' & 'Yahweh' so America can say 'Who the hell are these guys?'"

Last fall, Dee Snider slammed the NFL for not hiring rock artists to perform at the Super Bowl, saying: "Once again the great heavy music that rocks the stadiums week after week, game after game is completely ignored. I guess we don't shake our ass enough!!"

The TWISTED SISTER singer later clarified his views, adding: "My point about this years @NFL halftime show isn't a slight on @shakira or @JLo, it's frustration that week after week rock is the go to music during games but gets no respect when it comes to the Super Bowl! And I don't think I'm popular enough for that slot. But @Metallica..."

Only two Super Bowl halftime show performers have come even remotely close to being heavy metal: THE WHO in 2010 and AEROSMITH in 2001.

According to Sportscasting.com, the NFL considers popularity, music genre, and the artists' overall performance value choosing the performers for the halftime show. However, it's not the NFL that chooses who takes the stage. The league comes up with a short list, but the host cities pick the Super Bowl halftime performers.

MAX CAVALERA's Wife/Manager To SEPULTURA's DERRICK GREEN: 'F**k You'

Gloria Cavalera, wife and manager of founding SEPULTURA guitarist/vocalist Max Cavalera, has blasted the band's current frontman, Derrick Green, for comments he made in a recent interview about a possible reunion with Max.

SEPULTURA's classic lineup fell apart in 1996 with the exit of Max after the rest of the band split with Gloria as their manager. His brother, drummer Igor Cavalera, stuck around with the group for another 10 years before leaving SEPULTURA and re-teaming with Max in CAVALERA CONSPIRACY.

Although SEPULTURA has maintained a diehard fanbase in all parts of the world throughout the band's three-and-a-half-decade-plus history, Max-era albums "Roots" and "Chaos A.D." were by far SEPULTURA's most commercially successful, having both been certified gold in the U.S. for sales in excess of five hundred thousand copies.

When he was asked in a recent interview with the "Scars And Guitars" podcast why he thinks SEPULTURA still gets asked about a possible reunion with Max, Derrick said: "I think for some people, it's hard for them to really move on. It's hard for people to change in general — for the fact that they're fearful of change, because of the unexpected when changing. It's hard for certain people, but that's okay. It's not where we're at musically, and thank god that we were able to move forward and not only rely on the past. I think it's natural for certain people that they gravitate to something that they've known from the past, and maybe that's just where they like to have their heads."

He continued: "I never wanted to be in that position, just because I'm an artist and, for me, it's important to really explore and to evolve, and change is actually necessary. And that's something that's happening in all of our lives, so I accept it and go with it and living within the moments that are happening now."

Derrick added: "I don't worry too much about other people and them being trapped in the past. It's just something I don't wanna be a part of or be near that. [Laughs]"

Earlier today (Monday, February 3), Gloria took to her personal Facebook and made a public post, writing: "Hey I have a shout out! Fuck You! Max and Iggor never ever talk about a reunion. Why do you think they left? Lol. You're needing to talk about Max and Iggor to get some press?? Yeah it is hard for YOU to move on! Max and Igor can Return to their Roots and all you can do is sing lyrics my husband wrote!"

When one person commented under Gloria's post that he thought Derrick "was fair" in his remarks, she fired back: "fair? Jesus Christ save us." Another person then asked Gloria why the remaining members of SEPULTURA didn't change the name of the band after Max's exit. She replied: "Well I could speculate but the truth pisses people off. We all know why they can't change the name. The question is ...if Max is the person they insist he is, why sing his lyrics? I didn't see anyone sitting at the kitchen table writing lyrics except Max and one time he was with [Max's late stepson] Dana."

SEPULTURA bassist Paulo Xisto Pinto Jr. recently said that he has had "zero" contact with Max, adding that a reunion with the band's original frontman would have to happen "naturally."

Back in 2017, Igor Cavalera told The Salt Lake Tribune that he and Max "believe SEPULTURA doesn't really make sense nowadays, to do what they're doing." The drummer also downplayed the possibility of a reunion of SEPULTURA's classic lineup, saying: "Unless it's something really solid — and we haven't seen that from their part — of doing something totally professional and coming together, trying to do something like that. At the end of the day, it would be special for the fans, so it's not like a closed door, but at the same time, we have no time to spend energy with this kind of thing. So we just move forward."

Max echoed his brother's sentiments, telling The Salt Lake Tribune that he doesn't even think about his former bandmates much. "For a time — for a long time — there was a war in the press, like, 'He'll talk this, I'll talk that,'" he explained. "I got really tired of it, honestly. I'm not gonna do that anymore. So let them go their way and do their thing, and we're gonna do our thing, and I think that's the best for everybody."

While stopping short of completely ruling out a reunion of SEPULTURA's classic lineup, Max said: "Right now, we don't even need it. It's been so much of that kind of bad vibes through the years that I don't even know how that would even really work out. I think what [Igor and I] are doing is the closest thing to that, and it works great, it works like a charm. It's amazing."

Igor and Max have spent much of the last four years celebrating the 20th anniversary of SEPULTURA's "Roots" and 30th anniversary of "Beneath The Remains" and "Arise", respectively, on tour all over the world.

SEPULTURA's new album, "Quadra", will be released on February 7 via Nuclear Blast Records.

Hey I have a shout out! Fuck You! Max and Iggor never ever talk about a reunion. Why do you think they left? Lol....

Chicago's THE JAB Unveil New Track "Dank Mississippi"

Chicago rockers The JAB are debuting a new track "Dank Mississippi" off their upcoming LP Consume, which will be released on February 4th via Medicine/The Orchard, a Sony-owned company.

"Dank Mississippi" follows on the heels of the previously released single "Riot".

The Jab frontman Jam Alker was showcasing his punk-blues aesthetic for major labels on the Chicago club circuit just a handful of years ago. With the world at his fingertips, he swapped his guitar for the needle and disappeared for nearly a decade.

In 2014, the birth of his daughter finally flipped the life or death switch and he began treatment. An arduous journey of detox and song-writing therapy laid the foundation for his debut LP, Consume.

Tom Stukel, Terry Byrne, Ryan Herrick, and Alex Piazza—all seasoned, dynamic players —collaborate with Jam on blue-collar thinking-man’s music, delivered with grit and transparency.

The result is the bluesy, post-classic rock, modern sludge rock record Consume. With bite-sized versions of Led Zeppelin’s monstrously thick-grooved riffs, the sensibilities of a Black Keys album, and an often-deep southern melody, Consume is the darkest feel-good record in years.

DERRICK GREEN On SEPULTURA Fans Asking For Reunion With MAX CAVALERA: 'It's Hard For Some People To Really Move On'

SEPULTURA singer Derrick Green says he doesn't "worry too much" about fans calling for the band to reunite with former frontman Max Cavalera, explaining that it's "hard" for some people "to really move on."

SEPULTURA's classic lineup fell apart in 1996 with the exit of Max after the rest of the band split with his wife Gloria as their manager. His brother, drummer Igor Cavalera, stuck around with the group for another 10 years before leaving SEPULTURA and re-teaming with Max in CAVALERA CONSPIRACY.

Asked in a new interview with the "Scars And Guitars" podcast why he thinks SEPULTURA still gets asked about a possible reunion with Max, Derrick said (hear audio below): "I think for some people, it's hard for them to really move on. It's hard for people to change in general — for the fact that they're fearful of change, because of the unexpected when changing. It's hard for certain people, but that's okay. Derrick added: "I don't worry too much about other people and them being trapped in the past. It's just something I don't wanna be a part of or be near that. [Laughs]"

According to Green, it was harder for him and his bandmates to deal with the Max reunion talk in the first couple of years after he joined the band. "It was definitely frustrating, and then I saw it was frustrating for the guys," he admitted. "People forget that Igor, I played with him for nine years [in SEPULTURA], and then he was getting these questions too, and it was frustrating for him. Yeah, there are gonna be those questions and everything. But, like I said, for us, it was just important to write music, to tour, to play, so we have other things to talk about."

SEPULTURA bassist Paulo Xisto Pinto Jr. recently said that he has had "zero" contact with Max, adding that a reunion with the band's original frontman would have to happen "naturally."

MOONSPELL Drummer Says His Band Helped Create Goth Metal With 1996's 'Irreligious' Album

Charlene from Austria's Metal Underground conducted an interview with drummer Miguel Gaspar of Portuguese metallers MOONSPELL prior to the band's November 21 show at SimmCity in Vienna, Austria. You can watch the entire chat below. A few excerpts follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).

On MOONSPELL's ever-changing style and thirst for experimentation:

Miguel: "Our first demo, 'Anno Satanae', still had a very big black metal influence. Under the name MOONSPELL we had the [symbols] and we also used corpse paint, but then with 'Wolfheart', things changed a little bit. We still had this big underground influence, but we tried to experiment a lot more with melodies, keyboards, classical instruments, female vocals. This all has to do with the genre of the '90s. Bands like PARADISE LOST, MY DYING BRIDE, ANATHEMA, SAMAEL, TIAMAT, was a huge influence on us — also TYPE O NEGATIVE, of course. Coming from Portugal, it was always hard. There were no metal bands who had done what we did before us. It's not like we had an example to follow — like in Germany, you had the big thrash scene with bands like KREATOR, SODOM, DESTRUCTION. The English had everything from THE BEATLES to CRADLE OF FILTH; they had all these different influences. Having so many influences and having a different outlook on the world coming from South America, from Portugal, all the influence we had from Africa, from Brazil, from India, Macau, China, used to belong also to Portugal. There's a lot we can put our interest in. It always made it hard to just stay stuck to black metal, especially with our early years, we were so young and things were happening so quick. By the second album, we had 'Irreligious', which is considered to be a gothic album, a goth metal album, which is also a new genre we helped create. Today, you see many bands doing that, especially coming from Finland. It's a country that we love. The audience, we connect so well and there's a reason for that. They're both extremes. They're the extreme north and we're the extreme south. We're always trying to find our place in the world. I think that's one of the reasons it's hard for us to always stay the same."

On the re-release of 1998's "Sin/Pecado":

Miguel: "It's been over 20 years, and there are a lot of fans that have been looking for the material. Unfortunately, we've been through different record companies. It has to do with the rights and licensing. Somehow, some of our albums aren't being produced, so the consumer can't find them. We've had people complain they can't find them in the shops, they can't find them online. Fernando [Ribeiro, vocals] created Alma Mater Records, which gives us the opportunity, first, to release stuff from us, but also, he's been releasing Portuguese bands, giving them an opportunity to see what else is going on musically in Portugal. That is a way to come closer to the fans and we can be more on top of the quality of the releases and the packaging, the designs. That's always been very important for MOONSPELL. We're fans of that era where you'd get a digipak where a poster would come inside or a sticker or a patch you can put on your jacket. We really want to keep that spirit alive. With some of the albums, we have 13, 14 albums, we've been through maybe four, five record labels, I don't know. Adipocere, Century Media, SPV and now we're on Napalm. We're very happy so far with Napalm."

"Sin/Pecado" was recently re-released by Napalm Records and includes the "2econd Skin" EP and additional bonus tracks.

MOONSPELL's "Lisboa Under The Spell" live DVD/CD was released in August 2018 via Napalm Records. The live DVD/Blu-ray/3CD package captures the band's performance before 4,000 fans at the sold-out Campo Pequeno arena in their hometown of Lisbon, Portugal on February 4, 2017.

Finland's SOLOTHUS To Release Realm Of Ash And Blood In March; "The Watcher" Streaming Now

Realm Of Ash And Blood, the third album from Finland's Solothus, drops a dripping broadsword of Cimmerian carnage and staggering death-soaked doom delirium on the scorched landscape from which only mounds of skull dust and obsidian shards shall remain.

Making its debut on 20 Buck Spin as a band ideally suited for the label, Solothus' oppressively heavy mid-paced slaughter maintains a sense of unstoppable momentum even when slowing into the glacial. Yet the land of a thousand lakes has also infused Solothus with an ear for eerie melodic sorcery and tastefully ripping guitar solos to compliment the riff after riff of hammering granite.

Touching upon all things doom, the Realm Of Ash And Blood luxuriates in both the somber elegance and pained heaviness of the genre, it's theatrical virtuosity and crushing simplicity. Solothus has stormed the gate, stained it with blood of pretenders, and taken the jeweled throne.

Having recently parted ways with guitarist Sami Iivonen, who is heard on Realm Of Ash And Blood, the band added new guitarist Aleksi Luukka to the lineup with vocalist Kari Kankaanpää, guitarist Veli-Matti Karjalainen, bassist Tami Luukkonen, and drummer Juha Karjalainen.

Realm Of Ash And Blood delivers seven new movements, the drums, guitars, and bass recorded and mixed by Lauri Laaksonen, and the vocals recorded and edited by Tommi Ilmanen at Sounds from Below Studio. The album was mastered by Dan Lowndes at Resonance Sound Studio and completed with cover art by the ever-prolific Adam Burke (Hällas, Eternal Champion, Angel Witch). Devotees to the works of Runemagick, Hooded Menace, Coffins, My Dying Bride, Krypts, Derketa, Ossuarium, Crowbar, and Celtic Frost, tune in.

Stream the first single from Solothus' Realm Of Ash And Blood, "The Watcher" now:

SEPULTURA Bassist: Reunion With MAX CAVALERA Would Have To Happen 'Naturally'

SEPULTURA bassist Paulo Xisto Pinto Jr. says that a reunion with former frontman Max Cavalera would have to happen "naturally."

Asked in a new interview with the "Scars And Guitars" podcast if he has had any contact with Max in the last 10 years or so, Paulo responded (hear audio below): "Not at all. Zero. [Laughs] We just separated. Each one of us went to [his] own path."

Addressing the possibility of a reunion with Max, Paulo said: "I don't know about the future, but right now — I don't like to force the situation that's not there anymore. If one day it comes to terms, it has to come naturally. So far, that hasn't happened. But I really don't bother and think about that too much anymore. That was 20 years ago. And I just keep going. You cannot make everybody happy in this world. The best thing [you can do is] learn from your mistakes and keep walking and try to do better in the future."

Paulo went on to praise Max's replacement Derrick Green, who has fronted SEPULTURA for more than 20 years, starting with 1998's "Against" album.

"It was not easy to replace — I never say 'replace,' but to fill someone else's shoes after what we achieved back in the time," the bassist said. "And I knew only time would make people think differently. And Derrick's been with us for 22 years, I believe, now, and it's a long ways. I think he has grown up and really filled those shoes in a very good way, and I don't think he has to prove anything to anybody else. And the new record ['Quadra'] establishes this. It's a big step, not only for him, but I think for all of us."

According to Paulo, Derrick has a much more versatile voice than Max ever did, making it possible for SEPULTURA to explore different musical avenues.

"Derrick is a very unique singer," Paulo said. "He can really sing. He's an American black man, and those motherfuckers can sing. [Laughs] And he really brought a new approach to the band, as [did drummer] Eloy [Casagrande] as well. He's a very unique drummer, he's a very technical drummer. So those two guys really make a difference. And, of course, me and Andreas [Kisser, guitar], we're there for many, many years, and we're old and we know each other for a long time. We're like brothers. And the combination of the four of us, it's what it is, making this very unique music nowadays. It's good to be here, at the end of the day. I'm very happy I'm doing this. And I'm still happy with what I'm doing, I'm still happy with the band, despite all the [different] formations. This lineup respects the whole history of the band, and we're not there to hide our past. We're just here to respect and play the music and try to be the best that we can. And I think we achieved this with this new record."

During the "Scars And Guitars" chat, the SEPULTURA bassist was also asked about Max's previous comment that Paulo didn't play bass on some of the band's earliest recordings. He replied: "Andreas recorded [bass on] 'Schizophrenia' and 'Beneath The Remains' for me. But I had to play live, which is the main challenge. Whatever it takes to make the band happy and to make it work, we'll do it. But Andreas did the record. I was 'studio scared.' Up to this day, I still have some hard time to record. I really don't like to be in the studio that much; it's not my thing. I like to be on stage and play live. But nowadays, I'm much more confident to be in the studio. But it's not my real thing. [Laughs]"

MY RUIN Guitarist MICK MURPHY Releases New NEANDERTHAL Album; Fans Invited To Name Their Price For Digital Purchase

My Ruin guitarist Mick Murphy has released another album from his Neanderthal project, entitled Monday Night Metal. It is available for purchase via Bandcamp, and fans are invited to name their price for purchase.

Murphy: "This recorded work of songs is the product of four East Tennessee dudes who've known each other forever getting together on Monday nights and jamming on Neanderthal songs cherry picked from all my previous releases.

Zak was my first drummer all the way back in 1984 when we jammed in his parent's basement and formed what would eventually become Without Warning. Manning was a co-founder of Hypertribe with me back in 1989. Our shared rock adventure runs long, far and deep. I've known Chuck for a very long time as well, and he was in Finkelsteen & The Throwbacks with Manning for years, both of which were great bands. In a nutshell, these guys rule.

I couldn't ask for a cooler more talented line up of musicians who also have a genuine love for jamming on the twisted instrumental metal I've spent the last 15 years creating. We're having a blast giving these songs new life in the jamroom. This recording captures the 'lightning in a bottle' vibe we currently have going. These versions of these songs kill.

Hope you enjoy listening to this half as much as we enjoyed making it."

Monday Night Metal by NEANDERTHAL

The tracklist is as follows:

"War Wound"
"Darkthrasher"
"The Healer"
"Kicking For Vengeance"
"Anti Pop Culture Manifesto"
"Diggin' In"
"Now Hear This!"
"11 Daze In Knoxville"
"3 x 6 = 9"
"Play 'at One"
"Soundtrack In My Head"
"Special Seat In Hell"

Neanderthal is:

Mick Murphy - guitar (right speaker)
Manning Jenkins - guitar (left speaker)
Chuck Getsi - bass
Zak Stinnett - drums

TWITCH OF THE DEATH NERVE To Release A Resting Place For The Wrathful In March

Comatose Music have embraced Twitch Of The Death Nerve and held them close in soothing darkness. But on March 27th they will unlock the shackles and let their wild, bastard child run loose. A Resting Place For The Wrathful is a dangerous album, seething with spite and desperate to destroy. This spring, be prepared for absolute annihilation... because nothing can stop them now.

Check out the official live video for "Apotropaic Scarification" from A Resting Place For The Wrathful:

The extreme violence of A Resting Place For The Wrathful is a product of our ever deteriorating society. Twitch Of The Death Nerve have sucked up all the frustration and disgust that we wade through every day and expelled it in one devastating, primal scream. This is the ultimate act of musical catharsis. It lets you taste the darkness. The riffs dart across the frantic drums in a twisted, uncontrollable frenzy while the guttural vocals send their hatred vibrating through your entrails. There is no safe space, no solid ground in which to anchor yourself, the only option is to surrender to the insanity.

DAVID LEE ROTH On His Las Vegas Residency: 'I Have A Band That Took Over A Year To Put Together'

VAN HALEN vocalist David Lee Roth spoke to Celebrity Page (see video below) about his Las Vegas residency, which kicked off on January 8 with a 15-song set that included 10 VAN HALEN classics and five songs from his solo career. Backing the 65-year-old singer at the House Of Blues were lead guitarist Al Estrada from the VAN HALEN tribute band ERUPTION, rhythm guitarist Frankie Lindri, bassist Ryan Wheeler, keyboardist Danny Wagner and drummer Mike Mussleman.

Roth explained that he chose Vegas as the place to debut his new band because "this is where you come to celebrate and do the victory dance, whatever that means to you."

As for the setlist, Roth said that it "will be constantly redefining during the night," adding that he has recruited musicians with the right kind of chops to handle his material.

"I have a band that took over a year to put together, because we have real musicians really playing who can really interact with me," he said.

"There has to be the spirit, there has to be the vibe and the attitude, and it's not one kind of music. You have to be as universal as my song catalog."

Roth will play six more Vegas shows in March, in addition to performing as the opening act for the upcoming North American legs of KISS's "End Of The Road" farewell tour starting on February 1 in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Roth's Vegas residency isn't be the first time he has set up shop in Sin City. Back in 1995, Roth completed a Las Vegas engagement at Bally's Hotel and Casino and another short run at MGM Grand.

VAN HALEN has been inactive since it finished its U.S. tour in October 2015 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, California.

Back in September, Roth said that there were no plans for VAN HALEN to do anything for the foreseeable future. "I think VAN HALEN's finished and this is the next phase," he said, referring to his solo project.

Roth recently launched Ink The Original, a skin-care line specifically made to preserve, protect, and highlight tattoos and keep them from fading.

LITA FORD On OZZY OSBOURNE's Health Issues: 'I'm Surprised He's Made It This Long'

Lita Ford says that she is "surprised" Ozzy Osbourne has made it this long without more serious health issue in his life.

Ford made the comment when she was informed by Italy's Linea Rock about Ozzy's Parkinson's disease diagnosis, a few days after the BLACK SABBATH singer went public with his battle with the progressive neurological condition.

Lita said (see video below): "I'm surprised he's made it this long, with nothing. He's had a good life. I don't know that his life is over right now, but Parkinson's is pretty hardcore. All the plastic surgery and all the drugs and the alcohol and all the shit that he's put in his body…"

She continued: "We all love Ozzy, and we don't wanna see him sick. But, for God's sakes, when you're snorting ants and stuff, it might leave you a little messed up later in life. I don't know. But I'm not surprised."

Ford also offered an update on her long-awaited new studio album, which is tentatively due this spring. The follow-up to 2012's "Living Like A Runaway" was once again helmed by guitarist/producer Gary Hoey, who contributes some guitar playing to the disc, alongside the rest of Ford's backing band, which continues to consist of guitarist Patrick Kennison, drummer Bobby Rock and bassist Marty O'Brien.

"I'm really in love with the new record, [which] nobody has heard yet," she said. "We've been working on it for a long time. And I hope to get it out soon — really soon. We're gonna start [by hitting the road] with Alice Cooper in the United States, and we hope to get it out right around the beginning of that tour."

Lita and Ozzy recorded a duet, "Close My Eyes Forever", for her 1988 album "Lita". It was Ford's highest charting single, peaking at No. 8 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1989.

Ozzy had neck surgery to correct an old injury that he aggravated early last year, forcing him to stay off the road for all of 2019. He received his Parkinson's diagnosis last February, around the same time.

Ford's last release was 2016's "Time Capsule", a collection of songs that were recorded by Lita in the past, but never before made available.

Four years ago, Lita released an autobiography, "Living Like A Runaway: A Memoir", via Dey Street Books (formerly It Books), an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers.

MÖTLEY CRÜE, ANTHRAX, L.A. GUNS And ALL THAT REMAINS Members Rip TRUMP For Congratulating Wrong State After SUPER BOWL

Tommy Lee (MÖTLEY CRÜE), Charlie Benante (ANTHRAX), Tracii Guns (L.A. GUNS) and Phil Labonte (ALL THAT REMAINS) are among the rock musicians who criticized President Donald Trump after he sent a congratulatory tweet to the wrong state following the Kansas City Chiefs's first Super Bowl win in 50 years.

"Congratulations to the Kansas City Chiefs on a great game, and a fantastic comeback, under immense pressure," Trump tweeted at 10:15 p.m EST. "You represented the Great State of Kansas and, in fact, the entire USA, so very well. Our Country is PROUD OF YOU!"

The Kansas City Chiefs are based in Missouri — a common source of confusion.

According to Slate reporter Ashley Feinberg, the White House retweeted Trump's erroneous post.

Within minutes, Trump deleted the tweet and posted a new one at 10:27 p.m. congratulating the "Great State of Missouri. You are true Champions!"

There is a Kansas City, Kansas — it's located across the state line from Kansas City, Missouri, but it is significantly smaller (153,000 vs. 489,000 on the Missouri side). Both cities share the same border along the Missouri River.

Trump quickly drew criticism for the error, including from Lee, who tweeted "moron!" and included an emoji of one's hand across the face, indicating frustrated or exasperated disbelief.

Benante tweeted: "I thought Kansas City was in Missouri #stablegenius @BLABBERMOUTHNET #clickbait"

Guns jokingly wrote: "Is this the state of Kansas' first super bowl win ?"

Labonte's initial reaction was a simple " jfc.", the abbreviation of the popular phrase "Jesus Fucking Christ", which is often used as a response of surprise or frustration. He added an emoji used to convey the emotion of laughter to the point of tears. Twenty minutes later, Labonte sent out another tweet, this time apparently defending Trump, saying: "75% of the people dunking on the Trump about KC tweet had NO FRIGGIN IDEA where that city is as of five seconds before they read it."

The Kansas City Chiefs beat San Francisco by 11 points, 31 to 20, in their first Super Bowl victory in 50 years.

GLENN TIPTON, ROB HALFORD And RICHIE FAULKNER Are Working On Music For Next JUDAS PRIEST Album

JUDAS PRIEST members Rob Halford, Glenn Tipton and Richie Faulkner have commenced the official songwriting sessions for the band's follow-up to "Firepower" album. Released in March 2018, "Firepower" was the second LP to feature the 40-year-old Faulkner, who was selected to fill the void left by founding guitarist K.K. Downing following his exit in 2011.

Earlier today (Monday, February 3), Faulkner tweeted a photo of the trio from the studio and included the following caption: "Giving birth to new metal babies. #judaspriest writing sessions 2020 with grand master Tipton and the Mg RHRF DOTF #forgingthesteel"

Last month, Faulkner said that he had "a ton of ideas" for PRIEST's next disc. He added: "We just have to get together and see what metal magic we can create"

"Firepower" entered the Billboard 200 chart at position No. 5, making it PRIEST's highest-charting album ever. "Redeemer Of Souls" debuted and peaked at No. 6, while 2008's "Nostradamus" landed at No. 11 and 2005's "Angel Of Retribution" came in at No. 13.

"Firepower" moved 49,000 equivalent album units in first week of release. Of that sum, 48,000 were in traditional album sales, just shy of the 54,000 copies sold by "Angel Of Retribution" in that album's first week. The "Firepower" chart position was bolstered by sales generated from a concert ticket/album sale redemption offer in association with the band's spring 2018 North American tour.

Across the pond, "Firepower" landed at position No. 5 on the U.K. album chart. It marked the band's highest ranking, and first time in the Top 10, since "British Steel" reached No. 4 in 1980. Elsewhere, "Firepower" also became PRIEST's first-ever No. 1 in Sweden.

"Firepower" was recorded by British producer Andy Sneap, the band's longtime collaborator Tom Allom and engineer Mike Exeter (BLACK SABBATH). The cover artwork for "Firepower" was created by the Chilean/Italian artist Claudio Bergamin.

Halford recently told Goldmine that PRIEST "had one of the strongest experiences ever with the 'Firepower' record." He explained: "Just when you think you've not exactly done it all, seen it all and had it all, you go into the studio with this great producer combination that we've never known, and the great music that Richie brought into the mix after he first kind of embedded himself and grown during 'Redeemer Of Souls'. By the time we were at 'Firepower', it really jelled and he knew what he needed to do. 'Redeemer' was still a process of discovery for him. With 'Firepower', he was more attuned and acclimatized to it."

Rob continued: "The general attitude and atmosphere was a bit like how we went in to making 'Painkiller', which was an important record to make for lots of reasons. The way that 'Painkiller' was able to really refine and define this band, I think we came to the same kind of place again with the music from 'Firepower'. And this far on, that was just a great, great time for the band — it's really lifted us in many ways. As a result, the prospect of making the follow-up to 'Firepower' is really intriguing. I haven't a clue where we're going to go with it, but as far as the opportunity in the sense of really wanting to make another strong, important record goes, you know, watch out — the PRIEST will definitely be back. [Laughs]"

BLACK HEART SAINTS Release Official Music Video For "Misery"

Austin Music Award-winning band Black Heart Saints has just released the fourth and final installment from their new Misery EP -- a blistering Southern hard rock tune that masterfully melds the soulfulness of The Black Crowes with the sheer heaviness of Soundgarden.

The music video for "Misery" takes a darker tone than the previous installments of the series, touching upon such topics as addiction and depression. All four music videos from the Misery EP were shown as part of a film premiere at Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, TX earlier this month, which featured a red carpet and a curated drink menu.

Black Heart Saints has continued to turn heads around the country, and will be featured as part of Sweetwater Studio's Master Class program -- a specialized recording class available to the public that recently hosted such names as Anthrax and Eric Johnson.

"This song really captures what Black Heart Saints is about -- heavy, soulful rock 'n roll that pays homage to our Texas roots," says the band.

Dangerous and dirty, with a distinct groove steeped in classic rock, yet with a modern intensity. Black Heart Saints gives fans exactly what they want – rock god vocals catapulted over explosive, memorable riffs – leaving legions of the rock ‘n’ roll faithful yearning for more.

After debuting at South by Southwest Festival, this powerhouse quartet has been building a solid reputation as a support act for national touring bands such as Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy And The Conspirators, Sevendust, Steel Panther, Pop Evil, Buckcherry, Stryper, Dirty Honey, and more.

The soaring vocals of frontman Josh Ross have drawn comparisons to Myles Kennedy and Chris Cornell. While the band is influenced by the likes of Mötley Crüe, Guns N' Roses, and other legendary hard rock acts, the commanding presence of Black Heart Saints’ live show brandishes an updated take on the genre.
