LINDEMANN Feat. RAMMSTEIN Singer, PAIN/HYPOCRISY Mainman: Video Of European Tour Kick-Off
LINDEMANN, the project featuring vocalist Till Lindemann of German industrial metallers RAMMSTEIN and Swedish producer and multi-instrumentalist Peter Tägtgren (HYPOCRISY, PAIN), kicked off its European tour this past Tuesday night (February 4) at Swiss Life Hall in Hannover, Germany.
The band's setlist was as follows:
01. Skills In Pills
02. Ladyboy
03. Fat
04. Ich Weiß Es Nicht
05. Allesfresser (live debut)
06. Frau & Mann (live debut)
07. Knebel (live debut)

09. Cowboy
10. Golden Shower
11. Blut (live debut)
12. Platz Eins
13. Praise Abort
14. Fish On
Encore:
15. Ach So Gern (Pain Version, live debut)
16. Steh Auf
17. Gummi (live debut)
Fan-filmed video footage can be seen below.
LINDEMANN's European tour will include several more shows in Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Switzerland, France, U.K. and Sweden before concluding on February 29 in Finland.
LINDEMANN's second album, "F & M", was released on November 22. The follow-up to 2015's "Skills In Pills" was once again produced and mixed by Tägtgren.
In this renewed collaboration, the duo took some unfamiliar and sometimes unexpected paths.
"Skills In Pills" reached gold status in Germany and was entirely in English. On this second opus, the rules have changed: German lyrics sung by Lindemann's unmistakable voice are set in an intense and unique musical composition.
The starting point of these new LINDEMANN songs was a collaboration between Lindemann and the Hamburg Thalia Theater in the context of a modern adaptation of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale "Hänsel & Gretel", which addresses topics such as fear, hope, poverty, abundance, cannibalism or death.
Five songs from this critically acclaimed play have been supplemented with six brand new masterpieces to form the impressive new studio work from LINDEMANN.
Tägtgren told Australia's Heavy about the making of "F & M": "It was hell. It is something that I would never do again, but it did end up being a pleasant experience in the end. You have to consider things from their point and not from your point, so it becomes a little tricky."
He continued: "To be honest, though, I had only heard 'Hänsel & Gretel' as a child so it was all banished from my brain. They would explain what they wanted, and we just write it — it is like a jukebox or whatever you want to call it. But when you write your other stuff (personal stuff), you are in a different mood; your brain is telling you what you are going to write… It is the same thing, in a way; it is just coming from different places. On the other hand, when we are writing for ourselves, Till might come up with a riff or he may come up with some vocals. It doesn't really matter where it comes from — if someone sends a request, you do this or that; it is always fun to have challenges that someone asks for. Then it becomes a matter of 'I am going to prove that I can.'"
Tägtgren said that there was no shortage of ideas for LINDEMANN's second album. "We are constantly writing," he explained. "The Internet is a really big help. Till will have an idea and send it to me on SMS or whatever, and I kind of trigger off that and start writing a song off that. Or sometimes it is the other way — I have an idea and send it to him and he triggers Till. Today that is easy. Then we catch up and do the vocals in my studio, so there was a few trips to do this album. He flies in from Berlin — that's like one hour on the plane and then two hours on the train — and he is at my place. There are always gaps here and there though… when you have to take a break to have a shower or brush your teeth… but we come back."

Video Premiere: SEPULTURA's 'Means To An End'
SEPULTURA's music video for the song "Means To An End" can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's latest album, "Quadra", which was released on February 7 via Nuclear Blast Records.
Guitarist Andreas Kisser comments: "Sepulnation around the world, the wait is over! 'Quadra' is out now!! It feels great to be here today with such a strong album in our hands, I cannot wait to see you all on the 'Quadra' world tour. Thank you, all the fans around the world that keeps this band alive and motivated. Let's celebrate 'Quadra' together. Play it loud! I know I will!"
He adds about the new song/video: "'Means To An End' is our third video/single taken from our new album 'Quadra'. Is the second song on the album. It is a very powerful and complex theme that inspired director Otavio Juliano and Luciana Ferraz to make an amazing visual interpretation of the song. It shows the human greed with no limits, the arrogance and the ignorance of ourselves, we think we can do it all without knowledge, without respect. Judas and his treason, defying death in a chess game, saving money for who’s knows what and how much is enough? It was shot in the city of Jundiaí, in an old train station museum and in São Paulo as well, at an old bank safe, it was the biggest in Latin America from the '50s till it got shut down in the late '80s. We had a lot of fun working on it and I'm very happy with the final result. Hope you like it! See you on the 'Quadra' world tour."
"Quadra" is a concept album created at Sweden's Fascination Street Studios with renowned producer Jens Bogren. It will be followed by a world tour starting in March.
SEPULTURA comprises Kisser, vocalist Derrick Green, bassist Paulo Xisto Pinto Jr., and drummer Eloy Casagrande.
Kisser previously stated about working with Bogren on "Quadra": "He is so full of passion, it's unbelievable, man. He's really there, he really cares about the projects he's doing. For SEPULTURA, he's like the fifth member of the band. The chemistry was so amazing, 99 percent of what we were trying do to actually worked. That was insane!"
Green added: "The experience was like no other time in the studio. I felt the preparation was key in making the recording process go as smooth as possible. We were relentless each day giving everything that we had until complete exhaustion of the mind, body, and soul. This album is a direct result of the sign of times. The music is an evolution needed to push ourselves to go further than we ever have."
SEPULTURA was formed in Belo Horizonte by brothers Max and Igor Cavalera, who are no longer with the band.
"Quadra" is the follow-up to 2017's "Machine Messiah", which was SEPULTURA's fourteenth studio album and the eighth since Green joined the ranks. Lyrically, the disc tackled the metaphorical robotization of society and the need to follow and worship someone.

HER CHARIOT AWAITS Feat. ADRENALINE MOB Guitarist And Ex-SIRENIA Singer: Debut Album Due In April
HER CHARIOT AWAITS is a newly formed hard rock/metal group featuring the highly regarded Spanish vocalist Ailyn (ex-SIRENIA) and the awesome American guitarist and producer Mike Orlando (ADRENALINE MOB). The band's self-titled debut will be released on April 10 via Frontiers Music Srl. Today, the band has released the first single and music video, "Dead & Gone". Check it out below.
Ailyn says: "'Dead & Gone' tells as story in the first person of how it feels to have been neglected and abandoned by somebody, in this case a biological father. It's about the words the character, a woman, wants to express to make him realize how he made her feel, and in a way put an end to that story in her life and be able to move on."
On the writing of the track, Mike says: "The song came together musically starting with the verse guitar parts and the heavy bridge/solo section. From that point everything fell into place as I wanted the chorus to drop more into a slower half time groove. Lyrically, it started as somewhat of a letter from my girlfriend Dana regarding her biological father. I then turned the basis of what she was trying to say into a more streamlined story and added a chorus and some key sections. A true story brought to life in a song and a powerful message that Ailyn delivered wonderfully."
Continues Orlando: "We had a great time shooting the video over the course of a few days. It takes place in multiple locations, which included an old Victorian style home and a beautiful modern farmhouse style home owned by my dear friend Nancy. Ailyn plays the part of a daughter who feels neglected and abandoned by her father. The video ends up outside with the band performing around a raging fire pit in an attempt to rid herself of all the memories and pain and move on. The final moment being encompassed by her tossing dirt on the flame, putting an end to the story and walking away."
This exciting new musical alliance came about through the vision of Frontiers, who put the two artists — each eager to create a new and exciting project — in touch. The pair gelled extremely well, creating an album that offers songs that will excite all lovers of technical, aggressive, modern and extremely catchy heavy music. Melting the well-defined metal approach of ADRENALINE MOB with more melodic hooks, HER CHARIOT AWAITS showcases the incredible vocal talents of Ailyn. Here, she moves in a heavier and more straight-ahead direction compared to her previous band.
"After a two-year break from the scene, I am pleased to announce my new collaboration with Mike Orlando on HER CHARIOT AWAITS," enthuses Ailyn. "I'm very honoured and thankful to be part of it. I'm looking forward to everyone learning about this new adventure, which allowed me to experiment and explore a new side to my singing, working together with a great musician. HER CHARIOT AWAITS is a new step forward in my music career and I can't wait to share the beginning of this journey with all of you."
Orlando adds that "it was a pleasure to write and perform an album with a singer like Ailyn with music that is geared more towards the commercial side of rock. Ailyn has a beautiful voice and was great to work with in and out of the studio, as was Jeff Thal on drums! I'm very happy with how the album [came] out. It's a great collection of hard-hitting yet melodic commercial rock tracks, which I hope you will all enjoy."

02. Dead & Gone

Listen To New NAPALM DEATH Song 'Logic Ravaged By Brute Force'
U.K. grindcore pioneers NAPALM DEATH have released a new seven-inch / digital EP via Century Media Records. The EP titled "Logic Ravaged By Brute Force" includes the brand-new title track, which can be heard below, as well as a freshly recorded cover version of "White Kross", originally performed by SONIC YOUTH. This double-A-side EP is yet another NAPALM DEATH collectible item and is also meant as first teaser for the band's upcoming studio album, expected for release later in 2020.
NAPALM DEATH's frontman Mark "Barney" Greenway states about the EP: "In keeping with NAPALM DEATH custom, we had a vast swathe of new songs with many different flavors. So then naturally we moved into single territory and opted for 'Logic Ravaged By Brute Force'. It's the coldness and desperation of the guitar chords and voice that swung it. And then, seeing as SONIC YOUTH mash chords like few others, this cover of 'White Kross' just seemed to lift itself beyond the constraints of cover — or filler — song into a bit of a rumbling wall-of-sound epic".
The "Logic Ravaged By Brute Force" seven-inch EP is available in the following versions:
* Black vinyl - Unlimited
* Blue vinyl - 200x copies via CM distro Europe
* Light Green vinyl - 100x copies via CM webshop Europe
* Neon Yellow vinyl - 100x copies via CM webshop USA (out February 28!)
* Orange vinyl - 600x exclusively from the band on the road!
NAPALM DEATH's upcoming follow-up to 2015's "Apex Predator - Easy Meat" will feature an appearance by guitarist Mitch Harris, who has been taking a leave of absence from NAPALM DEATH since late 2014 to focus on his family life.
Barney recently told Metal Mad TV that the "theme" of the upcoming NAPALM DEATH album is "the other." He explained: "One good example of people being treated as the other is this whole thing about immigrants. Not everybody, but there is a certain percentage of the population that looks at them as something different — like, not human, almost. I wanted to challenge that way of thinking. Not only is it the other immigrants or whatever you want to call people that migrate. There's other things as well — other people who are treated as 'the other.' I would suggest simply, generally, that it's not necessary to treat people differently."
NAPALM DEATH will embark on a North American tour this spring. The trek will kick off with a few West Coast dates featuring support from THE LOCUST, while the rest of the tour will feature ABORTED and WVRM. Select shows will also include TOMBS.

BURNING WITCHES' first live performance with new singer Laura Guldemond took place in June 2019 at the Sweden Rock Festival in Sölvesborg, Sweden.

JOEY KRAMER Could Be Back On Stage With AEROSMITH Very Soon
According to TMZ, Joey Kramer has been working with his AEROSMITH bandmates Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton and Brad Whitford the past several days to help him return to his spot on the drums.
Kramer sued the rest of AEROSMITH last month in a bid to perform with this bandmates at two Grammy-related events. But a Massachusetts judge eventually ruled against him and the group played without Kramer.
After Kramer injured his shoulder last year, his drum tech filled in for a few gigs during AEROSMITH's residency in Las Vegas. Kramer did, however, perform with the rest of AEROSMITH in July at the Twin Cities Summer Jam in Shakopee.
Sources tell TMZ that "Joey has been practicing to get his skills back to where they were before his absence, and once Kramer proves he's up to the task ... the fellas will let him back in to start beating the skins again."
AEROSMITH has four residency shows in Vegas scheduled for this month beginning with the February 8 concert at Park Theater at Park MGM.
In his 16-page complaint filed in Massachusetts state court, Kramer said the disability he suffered last year was minor, and insisted he was ready to return to the group's "lucrative" Las Vegas residency at the MGM Resorts a few months later, as well as its slate of "50th anniversary activities."
Tyler, Perry, Hamilton and Whitford later responded to Kramer's suit in a statement to People, saying Joey "has not been emotionally and physically able to perform with the band, by his own admission, for the last 6 months. We have missed him and have encouraged him to rejoin us to play many times but apparently he has not felt ready to do so. Joey has now waited until the last moment to accept our invitation, when we unfortunately have no time for necessary rehearsals during Grammys week. We would be doing a disservice to him, to ourselves and to our fans to have him play without adequate time to prepare and rehearse."
In a statement, Kramer said he was "extremely disappointed" with the judge's ruling.
"I knew filing a lawsuit was a bit of an uphill battle," the drummer said. "I can hold my head high knowing that I did the right thing — to fight for my right to celebrate the band’s success that I have dedicated the better part of my life to helping build."

IMONOLITH Feat. THREAT SIGNAL, DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT Members: 'Dig' Lyric Video Released
IMONOLITH will release its debut album, "State Of Being", on March 27 via Imonolith Music. The official lyric video for the disc's latest single, "Dig", can be seen below.
Featuring drummer Ryan "RVP" Van Poederooyen (DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT) guitarist Brian "Beav" Wadell (DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT), Jon Howard (THREAT SIGNAL), guitarist Kai Huppunen (METHODS OF MAYHEM, NOISE THERAPY) and Scott Whalen (ECONOLINE CRUSH), IMONOLITH is a collective of heavy hitting players at the top of their game, and "Instinct" serves as a great taster of what can expected on their debut album.
"State Of Being" features 10 hook-laden, riff-heavy tracks, including "Hollow", the debut single that made big waves for IMONOLITH straight out of the gate, racking up 216,000 Spotify streams in 2019. There are also two very special guest performances from Jens Kidman (MESHUGGAH) and Johannes Eckerström (AVATAR).
Having spent much of 2019 writing, arranging, recording and fine-tuning "State Of Being", IMONOLITH worked incredibly hard to achieve its goal — to make an engaging heavy metal album.
Van Poederooyen commented: "We spent a lot of time making this record. We wanted it to be done the way we envisioned it. We didn't cut any corners, from the song writing right up to the album production and artwork. It's a debut album that we're very proud of and excited for the world to hear."
IMONOLITH will be touring globally for the next two years and has announced its first ever European headline dates, commencing on March 27 in Sheffield, U.K. Wadell commented: "To be able to take a brand-new band overseas and have the opportunity to headline shows is completely mindblowing!! And we plan on making every show count, this is a dream situation for us."
"State Of Being" track listing:

CODE ORANGE Releases Music Video For New Song 'Swallowing The Rabbit Whole'
The official Max Moore-directed music video for "Swallowing The Rabbit Whole", a brand new song from the Grammy-nominated band CODE ORANGE, can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's upcoming LP, "Underneath", which will be released on March 13 via Roadrunner Records. The clip builds upon the final scenes of the video for the album's title track, and sees drummer/vocalist Jami Morgan emerging in a new role. A brutal discourse on self-reflection is delivered as CODE ORANGE proves once again it cannot be confined to any singular box.
Morgan commented on the track: "'Swallowing The Rabbit Whole' is the passageway into the deep descent that is the next era of CODE ORANGE… the next piece to the puzzle of 'Underneath'. Duality is key, not only thematically on this album, but in the continued evolution of our sound and the larger heavy music world in general. You've got it all figured out until you're drowning in it."
"Underneath" finds CODE ORANGE once again confounding expectations, piling element on element, and towering towards the sky. Rattling drum loops give way to bursts of rage as "Underneath" transforms into something colossal, daring, and resilient, setting the tone for one of the year’s most exhilarating heavy records.
Morgan stated about the new LP: "'Underneath' is about facing the duality in ourselves as individuals and as a society in an overcrowded, overexposed, all-consuming digital nirvana. Everyone has a voice and no one's seems to matter… plummet down the rabbit hole of your deepest fears, anxieties and regrets to confront the monster that has been building underneath."
"Underneath" is available for pre-order with bundles and four limited-edition vinyl colorways, each featuring a gatefold jacket with a lenticular cover, also available. Produced by Morgan and Nick Raskulinecz with co-producer Will Yip, "Underneath" features additional programming from Chris Vrenna, and was mixed by Yip and CODE ORANGE's own Eric "Shade" Balderose.
In 2017, CODE ORANGE flipped the heavy music world on its head with their breakthrough album "Forever", a collection that masterfully mixed hardcore aggression with urgent industrial textures, earning the band a breakthrough grammy nomination and top placement on several "Best of 2017" lists, including Rolling Stone's "20 Best Metal Albums of 2017", Revolver's "20 Best Albums of 2017" and The Independent's "Top 20 Rock & Metal Albums of 2017."
Last summer, CODE ORANGE made headlines in the professional wrestling world with the release of "Let Me In", their official entrance theme for WWE superstar "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt. CODE ORANGE previously featured at WWE's NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III performing a rendition of wrestler Aleister Black's entrance theme alongside Incendiary's Brendan Garrone. "Let Me In" followed CODE ORANGE's 2018 release of "The Hurt Will Go On", a digital EP featuring "3 Knives" and "The Hunt" featuring Corey Taylor, as well as "The Hurt Will Go On" (Shade Remix), an official remix of CODE ORANGE's "Hurt Goes On" helmed by the band's guitarist and vocalist Shade. More recently, CODE ORANGE collaborated with a wide array of artists, co-producing Injury Reserve's "HPNGC" featuring JPEGMAFIA, as well as serving up a pair of remixes for alt-J's "Hit Me Like That Snare" and "Adeline".
Comprised of Jami Morgan (drums / vocals), Eric "Shade" Balderose (guitar / electronics / vocals), Reba Meyers (guitar / vocals), Dominic Landolina (guitar) and Joe Goldman (bass), CODE ORANGE is set to perform at an array of festivals this spring, including the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 10 and April 17 and Columbus, Ohio's Sonic Temple festival on May 15.
"Underneath" track listing:
01. (deeperthanbefore)
02. Swallowing The Rabbit Whole
03. In Fear
04. You And You Alone
05. Who I Am
06. Cold.Metal.Place

MY DYING BRIDE - Official Lyric Video For "Tired Of Tears" Available
The cold fingers of "The Ghost Of Orion" reach out for the world to wrap it in desperate misery, heavy melodies and hopeless misery: My Dying Bride release their new album on March 6th via Nuclear Blast. Today, the British kings of doom death metal release a lyric video for their new single "Tired Of Tears". Check the video out below.
The track has a particularly special meaning for frontman Aaron Stainthorpe, as he explains:
"The track touches upon the most terrifying, stressful and harrowing period of my entire life - the near death of my only child. I have been down before but it never hurt like this. This was true darkness and I was not sure my mind could take it. My entire world looked like it was going to implode but I was determined to fight all the way. Tired of tears was exactly how I felt. They had been flowing freely from me for months and I was a shadow of my former self. It is sad that this will continue for many others. Innocent people. so very tired of tears."
Pre-order The Ghost Of Orion on CD, black 2LP Gatefold, white 2LP Gatefold, red 2LP Gatefold and picture disc 2LP Gatefold here.
My Dying Bride’s three decades of misery almost came to an end several years ago. Following 2015’s universally lauded Feel The Misery album, vocalist Aaron Stainthorpe’s daughter, just five years old at the time, was diagnosed with cancer. Shocked and heartbroken, Stainthorpe put all band activities on hold while he, his immediate family, and My Dying Bride put their collective energies into eradicating what Stainthorpe called, “the cruelest of God's bitter and loveless creations.”
The high hurdles, however, didn’t stop with cancer. In 2018, returning original member and guitarist Calvin Robertshaw texted his departure, effective immediately. No reason was given or explanation provided to anyone. Then, just as My Dying Bride had regrouped after positive news that his daughter was effectively cancer free, returning drummer Shaun Taylor-Steels departed right before the band were slated to enter Mark Mynett’s studio, Mynetaur Productions.
Down two members but feeling right as rain, My Dying Bride moved on, mastered the doldrums, recording magnificent new album, The Ghost of Orion, to the joyful tears of fans across the globe, in the process.

NIGHTWISH frontwoman Floor Jansen recently told FaceCulture that she was "very, very happy" with how the new disc turned out. "Already with the first notes, I [was, like], 'Oh, yeah. There we go,'" she said. "It's as much NIGHTWISH thing you might expect from us as, 'Wow! What's this now? What's happening?'"
She continued: "I can't really say too much about it, because there are a couple of things that are the same, a couple of things that are different. But all I can say is I'm very happy with it and I'm very excited about it. And I think people that already knew NIGHTWISH will really enjoy this."
NIGHTWISH's new album will mark the band's second full-length effort with the Dutch singer, who has been touring with the group since 2012.
NIGHTWISH's latest release was the "Decades: Live In Buenos Aires" set, which came out on December 6 as a Blu-ray digibook, 2CD digipak, Blu-ray+2CD earbook and 3LP via Nuclear Blast. The effort was recorded on September 30, 2018 at Estadio Malvinas in Buenos Aires, Argentina during the "Decades" tour in support of the band's compilation album of the same name.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH: 'Living The Dream' Lyric Video
The official lyric video for "Living The Dream", a brand new song from FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's eighth album, "F8", due on February 28 via Better Noise Music.
The LP will be available in the following formats: CD, digital download, mastered for iTunes download, double gatefold vinyl and picture disc vinyl. The band also curated special "F8" merchandise bundles of albums with exclusive t-shirts, hoodies and more available for pre-order now as well.
FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH guitarist Zoltan Bathory said: "We had an extremely successful, yet tumultuous couple of years as a band. We didn't just weather the storm but came out on the other side better than ever. It was a focused sober group recording, our most important album to date and without a question it shows. This album represents rebirth, progression, transcendence both personally and musically." Vocalist Ivan Moody added: "This record to me is 'absolution' — everything I've done in my life has led up to this moment."
"F8" track listing:

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH's new disc was once again helmed by Kevin Churko, the Canadian record producer/engineer and songwriter who currently lives in Las Vegas, where he works out of his private studio, The Hideout Recording Studio.
Bathory recently said that the band's new LP could be its best yet. He said: "We have a little pie that we belong to in the musical spectrum, and within that, the grooves — there are these big, nasty grooves that feel just heavier and grimier, and that's kind of what's happening. The energy of what's in the band now is affecting this process."
The drums on the disc were laid down by Charlie "The Engine" Engen, who made his live debut with the group during its fall 2018 tour with BREAKING BENJAMIN. He stepped in for original drummer Jeremy Spencer, who left the band in December 2018 due to a back injury.
FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH recently announced the dates for a new spring North American tour. The trek kicks off on April 8 in Sunrise, Florida, winding down on May 20 in St. Paul, Minnesota. PAPA ROACH, I PREVAIL and ICE NINE KILLS will join FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH on the upcoming road trip.

THE USED Releases New Song 'Paradise Lost, A Poem By John Milton'
"Paradise Lost, A Poem By John Milton", a new song from THE USED, can be streamed below. The track is taken from the band's forthcoming eighth full-length album, "Heartwork", due on April 24 via producer John Feldmann's Big Noise label.
"Heartwork" features guest appearances by FEVER 333's Jason Aalon Butler, BEARTOOTH frontman Caleb Shomo, and BLINK-182 members Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker.
Feldmann signed THE USED to Reprise Records in January 2002, one short year after the band formed in Orem, Utah. He also produced some of the band's most monumental albums, including their self-titled debut, "Maybe Memories", "In Love And Death", "Lies For The Liars", "Vulnerable" and "Imaginary Enemy". The upcoming album will mark THE USED's first release on Big Noise.
"Look, without THE USED, I don't think we'd be talking," Feldmann told Alternative Press. "THE USED were definitely the catalyst that started my career as a producer. GOLDFINGER had a pretty good run, but we never did become GREEN DAY. Ultimately, THE USED are the one band that I knew I could help as a songwriter and as someone who can both arrange music and record music, I knew I could help them. So it is awesome to have come around full circle. There were years that went by where I thought, 'Why wouldn't I have done a label when I first discovered THE USED [all] those years ago instead of signing them to Warner [Records]?' Everything happens for a reason: I don't look back and think, 'Goddamn it, what I should've done was…' I always look forward. What's next?"
"Heartwork" track listing:
01. Paradise Lost, A Poem By John Milton
02. Blow Me (feat. Jason Aalon Butler)
03. Big, Wanna Be
04. Bloody Nose
05. Wow, I Hate This Song
06. My Cocoon
07. Cathedral Bell
08. 1984 (Infinite Jest)
09. Gravity’s Rainbow
10. Clean Cut Heals
11. Heartwork
12. The Lighthouse (feat. Mark Hoppus)
13. Obvious Blasé (feat. Travis Barker)
14. The Lottery (feat. Caleb Shomo)
15. Darkness Bleeds, FOTF

CHESTER BENNINGTON's Pre-LINKIN PARK Band GREY DAZE To Release 'Amends' Album In April
GREY DAZE, Chester Bennington's pre-LINKIN PARK band, will release "Amends", featuring newly recorded music with remastered vocals from the group's long out-of-print and largely undiscovered catalog, on April 10 via Loma Vista Recordings.
Accompanying the album announcement, GREY DAZE has simultaneously released a second single from the 11-song collection, "Sickness". A video for the track has also been released, with band founder and drummer Sean Dowdell explaining: "This is loosely based on a true story from when Chester was 15 years old. He was being bullied at school and one day suffered a real beating. That was the day I assumed a role as protector and almost older brother figure to Chester that has lasted since, even after his passing."
"Amends" is the origin story of one of modern rock's most recognizable voices and also a full-circle moment among friends. The album is the fulfillment of a planned GREY DAZE reunion that Chester had announced prior to his untimely passing. The remaining band members — Dowdell (drums), Mace Beyers (bass) and Cristin Davis (guitar) — along with Talinda Bennington (Chester's widow) and his parents, made it their mission to see the project through with assistance from Tom Whalley, the founder of Loma Vista Recordings and former Warner Bros. Records chairman during LINKIN PARK's tenure at the label. Dowdell, Beyers and Davis selected the tracks from the band's mid-'90s largely unknown catalog and re-recorded the music in 2019 to accompany Chester's remastered vocals. Produced by Jay Baumgardner, several musicians leant their time and talent to the album, including KORN's Brian "Head" Welch and James "Munky" Shaffer, Page Hamilton (HELMET), Chris Traynor (BUSH, HELMET, ORANGE 9MM), Jasen Rauch (BREAKING BENJAMIN) and Ryan Shuck (ORGY).
Earlier this week, Dowdell and Talinda Bennington spoke with Rolling Stone about the project, discussing how it came to fruition and the emotions of sharing this album with the world.
"He wanted to do GREY DAZE again because the music was awesome, he loved it back then, and he was excited to be able to create," Talinda said. "Doing it now that he had all this experience under his belt — he had accomplished so much and come so far since then — he was excited about it. I can hear him now. He's like, 'F**k yeah!'"
Dowdell will appear on both KROQ (Los Angeles) and KUPD (Phoenix) this afternoon to discuss "Amends" and how meaningful this release is to both the circle of people who were intimately involved but also to the millions of fans who have been waiting to hear Chester's voice once again.
"We started GREY DAZE in 1993. The band ended up breaking up in 1998," explains Dowdell in a recently released documentary. "Fast forward to 2015, Chester's on the road and says, 'I think we should put GREY DAZE back together.' Obviously, what happened, happened and Chester was tragically taken from us. Of course, as soon as he passed, it was, like, 'Oh my God, I lost my friend, my friend's wife is now a widow and my friend's kids are now fatherless.' There were all of these emotions. About six or seven months later, I started some conversations and said I really want to finish this album. We're not going to accept mediocrity, we're going to do our friend proud, we're going to make sure Chester is proud and we're going to make sure this is something he would have been elated to put out."
"Amends" track listing:
01. Sickness
02. Sometimes
03. What's In The Eye
04. The Syndrome
05. In Time
06. Just Like Heroine
07. B12
08. Soul Song
09. Morei Sky
10. She Shines
11. Shouting Out
"Amends" is available in a variety of collectible formats with several iterations available exclusively via the band's web site. The CD comes as a 16-page case-bound book; a first pressing, ruby red vinyl variant exclusive to the band's webstore; and a numbered deluxe edition featuring both a CD and LP, which includes the first ever disc tray designed for vinyl, as well as a 60-page book with never-before-seen photos and 180-gram red and white splattered vinyl. Pre-orders include instant downloads of "What's In The Eye" and "Sickness". A CD single is also available today at independent record stores nationwide, featuring both new singles "What's In The Eye" and "Sickness", as well as a $3 off coupon for the full album.

SIX FEET UNDER Is Recording New Album
Death metal veterans SIX FEET UNDER have entered the studio to begin recording their new album. The follow-up to 2017's "Torment" is due later this year via Metal Blade Records.
SIX FEET UNDER revealed its recording activities in a social media post Thursday night (February 6). The band wrote: "Tracking for the new SFU album is underway... Marcos [Marco Pitruzzella] drums are complete .. Jack [Owen] is heading into the studio this weekend to start tracking guitars! Good stuff going on! Excited for you all to hear!!"
Back in 2018, SIX FEET UNDER issued a compilation album, titled "Unburied", in digital format through Metal Blade Records. The disc was produced by vocalist Chris Barnes, and mixed and mastered by Chaz Najjar at Badlands Recording in Denver, Colorado. The LP consisted of nine songs recorded during sessions for the albums "Undead" (2012), "Unborn" (2013) and "Torment".
In a 2017 interview with Metal Insider, Barnes spoke about the fact that he has been a Metal Blade recording artist for three decades. He said: "One of the reasons that I'm proud of it is because when I was getting a ride to that record store when I was a kid, I didn't have a guide — maybe a couple magazines here and there like Metal Forces or Kerrang!, but you didn't have much to go on. But if it was on Metal Blade Records, and if it was produced by Brian Slagel, if I saw his name on the record and it was a Metal Blade release, that's what I bought. I could've had, like, three other choices, but if that one was there and if I saw that black on red, man, I bought that. [If] Slagel or Bill Metoyer mixed it, that was my guide. And seven years later, I'm in a band and I have a press package and I send it to Metal Blade Records, and the record label that I was a fan of that guided me through my metal years, they end up signing me. It was like a dream come true and me and Brian became friends over the years, and he's one of my greatest friends."

ROSE TATTOO To Release 'Outlaws' Album In March
Australian hard rock legends ROSE TATTOO will release "Outlaws", a re-recording of the iconic "Rock N Roll Outlaw" LP, on March 6.
In addition to classics like "Nice Boys (Don't Play Rock 'N' Roll)", "Rock N' Roll Outlaw", "One Of The Boys" and "Bad Boy For Love", which have etched their way into the music landscape over the last 40-plus years, "Outlaws" includes three bonus tracks from the very early days, songs that were demoed and never made the final cut, those being "love song" "Rosetta", written back in 1975 by Angry Anderson and Ian Rilens, "Snow Queen" and "Sweet Love Rock and Roll", penned by Ian Rilens.
Lovable rogue Angry Anderson recruited the best in the business to head up the assault on this one, comprising legendary bass player Mark Evans of AC/DC fame, iconic guitarist Bob Spencer, Dai Pritchard on slide and Jackie Barnes on drums.
"For me, that's critically important, cosmically important, because this album is all about history, heritage, honor and respect," Angry said. "Just as significant is the forging, the embracing, and the official signing on if you like, to that history by THIS band and having them make their own reverent mark. This really is about honoring the past and respecting the present."
"Rock N' Roll Outlaw" was originally recorded at the famed Alberts studios, produced by the legendary team Vanda & Young and, released through Albert, Repertoire Records in late 1978. ROSE TATTOO's debut album was described as "a dangerous, unpredictable, monster of a record whose power has hardly diminished an ounce in the decades since this album cemented the band's foundation for the years to come."
Added Anderson: "The universe owes a deep unpayable debt to this band's founders Peter Wells and Ian Rilen as well as Mick Cocks, Dallas 'Digger' Royal, Geordie Leach, Rockin' Robin Riley and Lobby Loyde. Paul DeMarco, Dai Pritchard and Steve King have, of course, honorably kept the temple flame burning brightly more recently, but the album also rightfully acknowledges the foresight and support of Ted Albert, Fifa Riccobono, George Young and Harry Vanda who saw something in this band back when most other record companies were calling the cops."
"Outlaws" will be released by Cleopatra Records on all digital platforms as well as on CD and a special limited-edition vinyl pressing in your choice of red or silver.
ROSE TATTOO will undertake its first U.S. tour since 1982 this May.

Listen To New STATIC-X Song 'Hollow' From 'Project Regeneration' Album
"Hollow", the new single from STATIC-X, can be streamed below. The song is taken from the band's upcoming album titled "Project Regeneration", featuring the last recordings of the band's late frontman Wayne Static, which is due on May 29. The rest of the group's original lineup — bassist Tony Campos, drummer Ken Jay and guitarist Koichi Fukuda — will also be featured on the album and in the music videos.
Campos stated about "Hollow": "This song was originally a demo from the 'Start A War' album, which was never completed. Wayne and I never felt like the music on the original demo was fully realized. The vocals sounded great, but some of the musical compositions from that time period felt a bit experimental. There is a reason that some of these tracks never made it on a previous STATIC-X album, and it certainly wasn't because of Wayne's vocals. The band was just going through a lot of changes at that time and, in retrospect, it felt like we were straying away from that authentic STATIC-X sound that had really defined us."
Originally scheduled for release in spring of 2019, the new STATIC-X album was first intended to feature several guests vocalists, along with the original "Wisconsin Death Trip" band lineup of Campos, Jay and Fukuda.
During the recording sessions for "Project Regeneration", one of STATIC-X's producers uncovered several additional unreleased and unfinished tracks, many of which contained isolated vocal performances by Wayne Static. Because of this incredible find, the new STATIC-X album will now feature lead vocals by Wayne on virtually every song.
"It was very surreal," said Campos. "Our producer was going through all of these old studio tapes, many of which were damaged. He called me up and told me that I needed to get down to the studio right away and listen to what he found. I jumped in my car and raced to the studio and what he shared fucking blew me away. It was Wayne singing on track after track, but there was little to no music on any of it. Most of the tapes were damaged and Wayne's voice was virtually all that remained intact."
"It was just crazy!!" added drummer Ken Jay. "There we were, myself, Tony and Koichi, back in the studio together, after all these years, and somehow the universe decided to surprise us with all of these lost STATIC-X tapes containing Wayne's voice. I just couldn't help thinking that this was all somehow meant to be. I couldn't stop thinking about how happy this was going to make Wayne's family, and all of the STATIC-X fans around the world."
While this comes as amazing news for the fans, completing these additional tracks has created a lot of additional work for the band and their producers.
Jay added: "When we began working on 'Project Regeneration', our producers advised us to ignore all of the old demo music. We opted for the original band to re-enter the studio with nothing more than Wayne's vocal tracks. The vocals sound really great and I think that Wayne would be really happy with what we've done with the music and to hear that these tracks have finally realized their full potential."
Back in 2018, STATIC-X released a teaser featuring clips from a brand-new music video, as well as five new STATIC-X tracks — "Road To Hell", "Something Of My Own", "Terminator Oscillator", "Hollow" and "Disco Otsego" — along with a personal message from Campos about the inspiration behind "Project Regeneration".
While the identity of STATIC-X's touring singer Xer0 has not been officially revealed, strong rumors suggest that DOPE frontman Edsel Dope is the one performing with Jay, Fukuda and Campos and appearing in all of STATIC-X's promotional videos.
Wayne Static died after mixing Xanax and other powerful prescription drugs with alcohol, according to the coroner's report. The 48-year-old Static, whose real name was Wayne Richard Wells, was found dead in his Landers, California home on November 1, 2014.
Static founded STATIC-X in 1994 and achieved commercial success with "Wisconsin Death Trip", which included the rock radio hit "Push It".
The group issued five more studio albums before disbanding permanently in June 2013. Static had been pursuing a solo career at the time of his death.

1986's "Rage For Order" introduced a much more polished look and sound for QUEENSRŸCHE. The album featured keyboards as prominently as guitars, and the group adopted an image more closely associated with glam rock or glam metal than with heavy metal (of which glam metal was a subgenre). A video was filmed for the song "Gonna Get Close to You", originally recorded in 1984 by DALBELLO.
Released in 1990, "Empire" included the hit ballad "Silent Lucidity", which reached No. 9 on the Billboard singles chart, helped propel "Empire" to No. 7 on the album chart and earned two Grammy Award nominations.
Tate told MisplacedStraws.com that he will take the "Empire 30th Anniversary Tour" to "as many countries as I can and playing the album in its entirety, which I've never done before. So that'll be real fun. In fact, I think there's some songs on that album that I've never, ever played live before, so it'll be a treat — for me, as well, I think, for the audience too," the former QUEENSRŸCHE singer said. "I'm really looking forward to that."
Tate told Eonmusic that one song from "Empire" that was rarely performed live is "Anybody Listening?" "When QUEENSRŸCHE was together, we never really put that song in our set," he said. "We just had a hard time playing it, for some reason; it just never jelled or felt right. And I'd really like to play that song again, and play it right."
In April 2014, Tate and QUEENSRŸCHE announced that a settlement had been reached after a nearly two-year legal battle where the singer sued over the rights to the QUEENSRŸCHE name after being fired in 2012. Original QUEENSRŸCHE members Michael Wilton (guitar), Scott Rockenfield (drums) and Eddie Jackson (bass) responded with a countersuit. The settlement included an agreement that Wilton, Rockenfield and Jackson would continue as QUEENSRŸCHE, while Tate would have the sole right to perform the albums "Operation: Mindcrime" and "Operation: Mindcrime II" in their entirety live.
Tate has been replaced in QUEENSRŸCHE by former CRIMSON GLORY singer Todd La Torre.
Geoff recently celebrated the 30th anniversary of "Operation: Mindcrime" on European and U.S. tours.
Tate's post-QUEENSRŸCHE band OPERATION: MINDCRIME released three albums over three years as part of a trilogy: "The Key" (September 2015), "Resurrection" (September 2016) and "The New Reality" (December 2017). | +2

JOE SATRIANI To Release 'Shapeshifting' Album In April; 'Nineteen Eighty' Single Now Available
Joe Satriani's new studio album, "Shapeshifting", is set for release on April 10 via Sony Music/Legacy Recordings. The first single, "Nineteen Eighty", is available today on all streaming platforms and at rock radio stations nationwide. Pre-order packages are also available beginning today. In addition to the CD and standard black vinyl, the D2C store will offer an exclusive translucent blue colored, signed vinyl. Additional offerings will include stemless wine glasses, coffee mugs, koozies, crew socks, guitar picks and a t-shirt — all featuring Joe's original artwork. Also available, an autographed CD via pre-order with Newbury Comics online retails store. Anyone who pre-orders via the D2C will receive early access to the upcoming U.S. tour, to be announced shortly.
"Shapeshifting" was co-produced by Satriani and Jim Scott (FOO FIGHTERS, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, TOM PETTY & THE HEARTBREAKERS), with longtime associate John Cuniberti on board handling the mastering duties. Satriani enlisted a wide range of collaborators, both old and new, to help him bring the songs to life. Legendary drummer Kenny Aronoff (John Fogerty), bassist Chris Chaney (JANE'S ADDICTION) and keyboardist Eric Caudieux were the core musicians on the new album with additional contributions coming from Lisa Coleman (THE REVOLUTION) and Christopher Guest.
The retro feeling sounds of first single "Nineteen Eighty" find Satriani spiritually revisiting the time period when he was working with his first band, THE SQUARES. The future guitar hero the world came to know less than a decade later, would have to wait. He recalls that in those early days, they "dialed back the guitar solos and histrionics to try to create a cooler new wave vibe." Decades removed from those goals, he was free to go forward and attempt to recapture what was on his mind in 1980.
Staying true to the sounds of the time, he even used a vintage MXR EVH phaser. "I've always been a huge fan of Eddie Van Halen," Satriani says. "In my mind, he just crystallized that era. The late '70s and early '80s, he kind of saved rock guitar. So that's what I would have been doing."
As previously announced, Satriani will embark on "The Shapeshifting Tour" beginning April 15 with a 42-date European leg that currently winds up in mid-June. Additional dates, including the U.S., to be announced soon. The 2020 touring band features celebrated drummer Kenny Aronoff (John Fogerty), bassist Bryan Beller (ARISTOCRATS) and keyboardist Rai Thistlethwayte (THIRSTY MERC) joining Satriani on guitar.
"Shapeshifting" track listing:

"The song 'Defender' is about having that person who can come in and take some punches for you, and be in your corner during hard times," says Rambler. "I am quite the comic book fan and I thought the lyrics could easily turn into an awesome animated short story — kind of like if the pages of a comic were to come to life. Luckily, everyone else agreed and we have this sick video to go along with the song."
The band also revealed that the album is their most truly collaborative effort to date.
"'Guardians' is the culmination of a complete and total team effort," says Brubaker. "Dustin and I collaborated musically more than we ever have before. Jake and Brent collaborated vocally more than they ever have before. Matt bounced more drum ideas off of us than we could even comprehend. It was the most time we've ever spent in the studio on one album. We're all so proud of this record, and we can't wait to share it with the world."
AUGUST BURNS RED will embark on a tour with KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and LIGHT THE TORCH this spring in support of "Guardians".

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH Guitarist JASON HOOK To Sit Out Remainder Of European Tour; Temporary Replacement Announced
FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH guitarist Jason Hook will sit out the remainder of the band's European tour because he needs additional time to recover after recently having his gallbladder removed. He will be replaced at the remaining shows on the trek by Andy James, widely regarded as one of the U.K.'s top rising stars in the world of shred and metal guitar.
FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH announced Hook's absence from the tour in a social media post on Tuesday (February 4) ahead of the band's concert in Hamburg, Germany. The group wrote: "Hamburg Knuckleheads, due to unforeseen circumstances, our brother Jason Hook will not be able to perform tonight. He needs additional time for his recovery and must step back from the current tour in order to have the opportunity to do so. We discussed this as a band and Jason's well-being is our priority — health comes first.
"It was Jason's express wish that we continue the tour so with Jason's blessing we have invited our friend Andy James who has agreed to step in and finish the tour for Jason.
"We are grateful for Andy stepping up and will continue to deliver the great show the fans deserve every night.
"We've been having an incredible run with our friends in MEGADETH and BAD WOLVES so far, and the vibe of the tour has been amazing. We look forward to seeing all the German fans next and appreciate all of you joining us in wishing Jason a speedy recovery."
James also issued a statement of his own, writing on Instagram: "As some of you may have heard I have been asked by @5fdp to come and fill in for Jason Hook as he heads home to better health as they finish their European tour. I'll do my best to help maintain the high level of show these guys smash out every night and do the material justice not just from a professional standpoint but also being a huge fan of the band!
"I'd like to thank @ivanmoody @zoltanbathory @5fdpchriskael @charlieengen and their amazing crew for making me feel very welcome as we complete the rest of the European shows for all you knuckleheads out there that wanna come and throw down."
FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH's European tour will conclude on February 22 in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Hook's operation took place on December 12, just hours after the band was forced to postpone a show in Duluth, Minnesota. The final two concerts of FIVE FINGER's fall 2019 tour were also called off: in Omaha, Nebraska and in Des Moines, Iowa. A representative for FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH told TMZ at the time that the guitarist had been experiencing pain that prompted two visits to the emergency room. Finally, during a third ER visit, doctors determined Jason needed to have his gallbladder removed due to blockage.
FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH will release its eighth album, "F8", on February 28 via Better Noise Music.

MR. BUNGLE Plays First Show In Close To 20 Years (Video)
MR. BUNGLE played its first show in close to 20 years last night (Wednesday, February 5) at the Fonda Theater in Los Angeles, California. The concert saw the Eureka-born band performing its 1986 demo in its entirety, and marked the first time these songs have been played live in over 30 years. MR. BUNGLE also played a new track reportedly called "Meth", as well as covers of songs from SLAYER, S.O.D. , SIEGE, SEALS AND CROFT and THE EXPLOITED).
MR. BUNGLE's 2020 lineup consists of original members Trevor Dunn, Mike Patton and Trey Spruance, along with Scott Ian (ANTHRAX, S.O.D.) and Dave Lombardo (DEAD CROSS, SLAYER, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES).
MR. BUNGLE has two more shows scheduled at the Fonda before traveling to San Francisco and New York.
Said Spruance: "Ever since Trevor hatched 'The Raging Wrath Of The Easter Bunny v.2' idea a few years back, Patton, Lombardo, he and I had each been incubating some idea of that egg. Lombardo called me one day and asked me to make some guitar demos so he could learn the songs. He had this generous idea to surprise the other guys with being totally ready to go with the tunes. It just so happened that I was in Eureka at the time. So, I found myself revisiting all of those riffs in the same goddamned town and in the same goddamned house where I recorded all the original guitars on that demo 33 years earlier. There was something about actually physically working out the mania of those riffs again at Dave Lombardo's request, in that environment — it just split my head open. It wasn't long before the train of destiny had picked up too much speed for any of us to jump off."
Added Dunn: "When we recorded that demo, we were 16 and 17 years old and we were absolutely serious about the music. At the time, we were living the deluge of '80s metal and absorbing every riff and every drum fill from every known band from Denmark to San Francisco. The recording and playing were amateurish (save for Trey's video-game-solos) but the schooled composition and spirit were solid. I always felt like this music held its own and deserved to be presented in a clearer and more defined package even if it meant being 33 years later."
Said Patton: "I remember writing riffs for this cassette in my parent's garage, with no heat, so I recorded in a sleeping bag for analog warmth, playing a one-stringed acoustic guitar that was piped into a ghetto blaster. Thank god I had Trevor and Trey to help decipher my rotten riffs into something intelligible!"
Commented Ian: "When Mike hit me up about this, my brain thought he was asking me if I wanted to come to a show, him knowing I am a HUGE BUNGLE fan. When I realized he actually meant for me to play guitar with them, it broke my brain; I was a giggly drooling mess. Somehow I pecked out Y E S on my keyboard and holy crap I'm playing in MR. BUNGLE. Seriously, it's an honor and a privilege to get to play with my favorite 'Mr.' band of all time."
Said Lombardo: "I don't know what was in the water in Eureka, California, but it certainly wasn't clean. This is going to be a ridiculously, insane band to play with and I am honored to have been asked to join the wrath."
The idea that Dunn, Patton and Spruance are being joined by their early musical heroes is not lost on the musicians.
Said Dunn: "They are a significant percentage of the 'Big Four,' all of which had a major impact on us. Aside from their obvious skills and — for crying out loud, INVENTION of this genre — there's nothing like being in a band with those whom which you have rapport. If we are going back to the source with this stuff we might as well go ALL THE WAY back."
Added Patton: "To have Scott and Dave with us on this suicide mission is more than an honor. THEY are a big part of the reason we wrote this stuff in the first place, and to realize it 30+ years later with these maestros is an absolute miracle… we can finally play this teenage nonsense correctly! A total catharsis for us."
Commented Spruance: "At our very first show, at the Bayside Grange Hall, Nov. 30, 1985, we played SLAYER's 'Chemical Warfare' and a S.O.D. cover. I mean, are you kidding?? We WORSHIPPED those guys! And now they're gonna PLAY in our band?"
Support at MR. BUNGLE's February shows is being provided by a mix of artists that both influenced the Eureka-born outfit's 1986 demo, as well as current bands that the musicians are both fans of and feel are carrying on the spirit of that era, both musically and in attitude. Hand-picked by the MR. BUNGLE bandmembers, the openers include CATTLE DECAPITATION, POSSESSED, HIRAX, THE MELVINS, HO99O9, C*NTS and SPOTLIGHTS.
"Putting these shows together it occurred to us that this was a great opportunity to expose unsuspecting audiences to some of the absolutely legendary thrash, death metal and hardcore bands that originally inspired us in the mid-'80s," explained Spruance. "And if we're going to do that, why not reunite with some of the equally legendary bands we were close with in the '90s? And why just concentrate on the past? Of the current bands that have taken some kind of inspiration from the heavier side of MR. BUNGLE in doing their own thing, why not invite the select few that have managed to inspire us back?" | +6

CHRIS CORNELL's Widow Disagrees With SOUNDGARDEN's 'Blatant Mischaracterization Of Events'
Chris Cornell's widow says that she is disappointed by surviving SOUNDGARDEN members' latest motion in which they denied withholding royalties from her and refuted her claim that she is the sole owner of several recordings Cornell worked on before his death.
The motion, filed Tuesday (February 4), is a response to a lawsuit Vicky Cornell filed last December against her late husband's former bandmates, Kim Thayil, Matt Cameron and Ben Shepherd. In Vicky's suit, she alleged the group owed Cornell's estate hundreds of thousands of dollars in allegedly unpaid royalties and the rights to seven unreleased recordings made before the singer's death in May of 2017.
In their motion, Thayil, Cameron and Shepherd claim that they "don't have possession" of their "own creative work," and allege that "Vicky Cornell has possession of the only existing multi-track recordings of the last SOUNDGARDEN tracks that include Chris Cornell's instrumental parts and vocals. All of the band members jointly worked on these final tracks, Vicky now claims ownership of the final SOUNDGARDEN album." They also insist that all of the bandmembers, not just Cornell, are owed monies, but none of them will be paid until "expenses are paid and the partnership shares of earnings can be calculated and distributed." The motion also takes issue with Vicky's decision to file her lawsuit in Florida, claiming her "domicile" is actually in New York City, not Miami. In addition, Thayil, Cameron and Shepherd claim that Cornell recorded much of his material not in Florida, but in Seattle and New York City and while touring.
Earlier today, Marty Singer, an attorney for Vicky Cornell, issued the following statement in response to SOUNDGARDEN's motion: "We obviously disagree with the band's blatant mischaracterization of events, and stand by the truthful facts set forth in our complaint. It is disappointing that Chris' former band members have now sought to taint his legacy by making numerous false allegations, and that they continue to withhold substantial monies from his widow and minor children (despite using those same funds to pay for their own legal fees). The issue in this case is not who wrote the songs but rather who owns the specific recordings made solely by Chris while he resided in Florida. We are very confident that the Court will vindicate the rights of Chris' Estate, and that the case will properly remain in Florida, where Chris resided and recorded the songs that are now the lawful property of his Estate."
According to Variety, Thayil, Shepard and Cameron recently parted ways with longtime SOUNDGARDEN attorney Peter Paterno and manager Ron Lafitte, who had worked with the band since they reformed in 2010.

SOUNDGARDEN Members Fire Back At CHRIS CORNELL's Widow Over Unreleased Recordings
According to TMZ, the surviving members of SOUNDGARDEN have fired back at Chris Cornell's widow, saying that they are the rightful owners of the band's unreleased songs.
Last fall, Vicky Cornell sued SOUNDGARDEN, claiming the musicians were withholding hundreds of thousands of dollars in royalties owed to her and Chris's minor children. She called the move an "unlawful attempt to strong-arm Chris' Estate into turning over certain audio recordings created by Chris before he passed away."
Vicky claimed the seven unreleased songs were "solely authored by Chris; contain Chris' own vocal tracks; and were bequeathed to Chris' Estate" for the benefit of her and their kids.
In their court filing, which can be read in its entirety below, Cornell's former SOUNDGARDEN bandmates, Kim Thayil, Matt Cameron and Ben Shepherd insist they had been working on the unreleased songs as a band as far back as 2014. As evidence, they point to a February 2017 article where Chris himself spoke to Music Radar about SOUNDGARDEN's new material. Chris told the web site: "We have a lot of interesting songs." They also claim they last got together in the studio in April 2017 to do more work on the tracks but took a break to go on tour. A month later, Chris committed suicide by hanging himself in a hotel.
Thayil, Cameron and Shepherd also say they've corresponded with Vicky about the songs, and she has admitted they were the band's property, not just Chris's solo work.
The SOUNDGARDEN motion also refutes Vicky's claim that the band was "uncaring following Cornell's death" and includes a detailed breakdown of how the band learned of the singer's passing.
The motion states: "The Band interrupted its April 2017 studio session in Seattle to begin a national tour starting on April 28, 2017. On May 14, 2017, the Band played in Kansas City, Missouri. After the show Cornell flew home to New York City. On May 17, he flew to Detroit, Michigan to join other Band Members for a SOUNDGARDENconcert that night at the Fox Theatre. Following the concert — as was customary — Thayil, Cameron, and Shepherd made the late night trip in the Band's tour buses to their next concert destination in Columbus, Ohio, where the Band had a concert on May 19. Cornell stayed behind at a Detroit hotel with the plan to fly on to Columbus, as was his normal practice because Cornell was unable to sleep on buses. As their buses were headed to Columbus in the early morning of May 18, the Surviving Band Members learned that Cornell had been found dead in his hotel room in Detroit after midnight (tragically, Cameron first saw a 'RIP: Chris Cornell' item on his Facebook page, called Thayil who was on the other bus, who then woke Shepherd, and they and their crew frantically searched news, social media and called friends and family, until they received the awful confirmation from their tour manager).
"Thayil, Cameron and Shepherd were utterly devastated to lose their beloved friend, brother, and comrade, and were in a state of shock. As they pulled their buses to the roadside, embraced each other, and struggled with what to do next, their tour manager advised them not to go back to Detroit as it would be swimming with police, press, and other media, and there was nothing positive that could be achieved. They also had a throng of highly-distraught crew and tour team members already in or headed to Columbus who needed support. So they organized a vigil in a conference room at their Columbus hotel, where they were accompanied by their crew, assistants and friends who hugged, wept and attempted to console each other for many hours."
In her lawsuit, Vicky claimed that she had offered to share the unreleased recordings with SOUNDGARDEN, so they can be released in a way that respects Chris's wishes — including having his producer involved — but that the band refused. She also accused SOUNDGARDEN guitarist Kim Thayil of putting her family in harm's way by making intentionally misleading comments to SOUNDGARDEN's "loyal, rabid fan base" and suggesting that she is the main obstacle to the band putting out another album. Vicky's suit also alleged that SOUNDGARDEN "has not produced any partnership documents, much less any documentation signed by Chris, supporting their conclusory claims of ownership." Furthermore, it noted that "there is no evidence that the [unreleased recordings]… were ever intended to be anything but Chris' sole and exclusive property."
Vicky later posted a statement on Instagram in which she wrote: "This was not the way I would have chosen to move forward. But I will not be pushed aside for someone else's convenience or gain. I will not sacrifice our children's futures for someone else's greed. And I will not let someone else make me feel shame because the man I loved was taken from all of us too soon. I will do justice by my husband's work and memory; for our children and for everything we stood for."
Last November, Thayil told the satellite radio program "Trunk Nation" that it was "entirely possible" that a new SOUNDGARDEN album featuring the final recordings by Chris Cornell could see the light of day. "We definitely have another record in us," he said. "Stuff that's written, stuff that's demoed and recorded — certainly. All it would need is to take the audio files that are available... We can get the producers we want to make it sound like a SOUNDGARDEN record."
SOUNDGARDEN was working on new music before Cornell's death in May 2017, and the singer had laid down some vocal tracks. Asked if there were any obstacles to completing the LP, Thayil said: "There shouldn't be... other than the fact that we don't have those files." He continued, "I think that will happen. It would be ridiculous if it didn't. But these are difficult things — partnerships and property."
Thayil did rule out the possibility of SOUNDGARDEN touring without Cornell, saying: "I do not see, given the commitments that other band members have, given our sentiments and love for Chris, I do not see us reconfiguring a tour or anything, as other bands have done in the past, without him."
In a separate interview with Music Radar, Thayil was asked what would it take for him, drummer Matt Cameron and bassist Ben Shepherd to get access to the tapes of what was supposed to become SOUNDGARDEN's next album. "We don't know," he replied. "We've asked nicely, we've suggested that this will benefit all parties, if the band could just have these files, and we could finish the songs we were working on. But there seems to be some confusion amongst various parties as to what that would entail and how that works, and who that would benefit."
Cornell was pronounced dead on May 18, 2017 after being found unresponsive in his Detroit hotel room. SOUNDGARDEN had played a show earlier that evening. The 52-year-old had sedatives and an anxiety drug in his system, but died as a result of hanging himself.
The three remaining members of SOUNDGARDEN, along with METALLICA, FOO FIGHTERS and members of AUDIOSLAVE, performed together for the first time since Cornell's death at a benefit concert honoring the singer in January 2019 at the Forum in Los Angeles.

IRON MAIDEN's NICKO MCBRAIN On NEIL PEART's Death: 'The Drumming Community Has Lost A True Diplomat For The Instrument'
IRON MAIDEN drummer Nicko McBrain has paid tribute to Neil Peart, calling the RUSH drummer "a true diplomat for the instrument, a wonderful human being, and a phenomenal player."
McBrain made his comments to Eonmusic at last weekend's NAMM convention in Anaheim, California. Recalling his sole encounter with the iconic Canadian musician, Nicko said: "I only met Neil once, at a show way way back in the late '80s. We were playing in the same city — I think it was in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, somewhere like that. They were doing a show, and we went to their show, got to meet them, and I got to sit and talk with Neil."
He continued: "[He was] a wonderful, articulated man. He was quiet, he was very reserved, but when you sat down with him, my impression of him was of a very articulated, very educated kind, and I liked him very much. And I loved his playing."
McBrain said that he learned about Peart's passing through social media. "Friends were phoning me: 'Oh my god, have you heard the news?'" he said. "My immediate thought was for his family and [bandmates] Geddy [Lee] and Alex [Lifeson]. I thought, 'Oh gosh, how must they all be feeling?', because they were really his family. Not to take away from his wife and his kids."
Nicko went on to talk about Peart's legacy, saying: "I've influenced players, but I think Neil reached a lot more youngsters than perhaps myself because of the way he played."
"Yeah, the drumming community has lost a true diplomat for the instrument, and a wonderful human being, and an absolutely phenomenal player," he added. "He'll be sorely missed."
Peart died on January 7 at the age of 67 from an aggressive form of brain cancer that he battled for more than three years. The news of his passing set off shockwaves and an outpouring of grief from fans and musicians all over the world.

GODSMACK's SULLY ERNA Gifts Drummer SHANNON LARKIN A 1964 Chevy Impala For Christmas
Sully Erna had a special Christmas gift for his bandmate Shannon Larkin this year: a car. The GODSMACK frontman posted a video on Facebook showing the drummer receiving his new vehicle and nearly breaking down in tears.
At the beginning of the five-minute clip, Erna tells the viewer: "We are in North Fort Myers, Florida about to do something really cool for my boy, my drummer, Shannon Larkin, who I've known since pretty much 1987, way back in the day when Shannon was with WRATHCHILD. About four years ago, he also decided to give up drinking and went sober. And I wanted to do something really cool for him this year for a Christmas present, but more or less just because he's one of my best friends and I love him dearly and he's just such a sweetheart of a guy.
"A while back, he had a 1964 Chevy Impala, and he had to give it up due to some financial problems he was going through. So this year, I purchased him a 1964 Chevy Impala. And even more importantly, I brought the love of his life, his daughter, and his best friend since they were baby childhood kiddies. This is gonna put everything over the top. So, we're about to just kind of go over the setup of this thing, and then we're gonna drive it up and kind of execute 'Operation My 64'."
In a 2017 interview with Cryptic Rock, Larkin about his personal friendship with Erna, whom he originally crossed paths with nearly two decades before he joined GODSMACK.
"I knew [Sully] twenty years, I met him in 1985. My band WRATHCHILD was doing the club circuit on the East Coast. Sully was a drummer and he was playing in a band… He had moved from Boston down to North Carolina to join this band — LEXX LUTHOR they were called. [Laughs] They ended up opening for WRATHCHILD one night in Carolina, and I met him for the first time. He ended up coming back to my hotel room and partying all night, [with] chicks and all that. We realized, wow, a couple of our tattoos were the same, we were both drummers; we clicked immediately. Through almost twenty years before GODSMACK, we remained friends; buddies that'd call each other up, 'Hey, I'm comin' to Boston,' or, 'I'm comin' to Carolina,' whatever. Over the years, it turned out that when he was still living in Carolina, this band on Epic Records called me — they were called MELIAH RAGE, they were from Boston. They called me looking for a drummer and I said, 'Hey, man, I know this guy Sully that's playing in a cover band. He's from Boston and he's a fucking badass drummer.' Turns out he gets the gig, moves back to Boston to join this band on a major label. So I kind of hooked him up way back in the day in his career. Of course, the band didn't make it or whatever, and he went on to play for several other bands before he dropped the drumsticks.
"My point is that we correlated on so many things on personal levels too: we're like brothers from another mother," he continued. "People say that, but for Sully and I it's something that's real. We've always noticed that in small things. Like he'd get a certain drum or whatever and call me and be like, 'Man, I just got this new snare drum.' I'm, like, 'Oh my god, I just got that last week,' or whatever. Tattoos or whatever. 'Yeah, I got this tattoo,' and I'd be like, 'Oh my god, I just got that,' you know? It's just crazy circumstances that… I believe in magic, dude. I believe in karma and I believe in destiny. I think Sully and I were meant to be in a band together; from the first day I met him, I believed that. All these years later, he gave me my dream, man. I'm forever grateful and I love him to this day."
GODSMACK is continuing to tour in support of its latest album, "When Legends Rise", which was released in April 2018. The disc followed up 2014's "1000hp" and was GODSMACK's first release through BMG after splitting with its longtime home, Republic/Universal.
See my surprise to Shannon.
Good things happen to good people...???
